A Million Kisses

by Goldie

Hubby and I recently celebrated our anniversary with a weekend away.  Before dinner, we went down to the casino to play a little, hopefully to win enough to pay for that lobster I was planning on eating.  (Ate the lobster, bit didn't win enough to pay for it.)

I sat at a slot machine next to a lady who was probably in her early 70's.  We started to chat and she was high-fiving whenever one of us won even the smallest amount.  We had a lot of fun together.  When she commented on my outfit and asked why I was so dressed up, I told her that it was my anniversary and we were going to dinner in a little while.

She congratulated me and asked how many years.  I told her 28, and she said to me that she had been married for 23 years, but they had actually lived together for 13 years before that.  She said that she loved everything about living together first.  She enjoyed the flowers, the candy, the gifts and all the extra attention she got before she agreed to get married.  When I asked her why she got married if she liked all that, she chuckled and said that he wore her down asking.  Then she told me that he had passed away just 2 years ago.

I automatically replied, "I'm sorry."  She smiled at me and said, "Thank you, but you don't have to be sorry because before he left, I gave him a million kisses.  That will keep me until we are together again."

Shortly after this exchange, it was time for dinner.  As I got up and we said our goodbyes and good lucks, she put her hand on my arm and said, "Don't forget to give that man of yours a million kisses, because you just never know when you will need them."

Hubby and I are building up our bank of a million kisses.

Hi Hooters!

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the blog. That lady was a hoot. We had so much fun together. But when she told me about the million kisses, it just struck me deeply.

Hubby and I kiss often, just in passing or hello and goodbye, so no way to know how many over all these years. Now we say, "collecting one of my million". :>)

1,000,000 seconds = 11 1/2 days....so if you only do one second smacks ur done in a little less than 12 days...

So...you probably have 1,000,000 already....so...the old lady at the casino may have been attempting the old "bait and switch"...

Goldie....did you leave with the same purse you went in with?

goldie said...

Michael, Mr. Goldie and I try not to make them only 1 second. A real kiss has a 12 second rule in our house.

The purse was the same~the contents were a little slimmer. :)

Happy Tuesday Owls.

Goldie, That was a beautiful blog. My Hubby and I always kissed hello and goodbye and if we go by Michael's stats, I'm sure we stored up way over a million in our 33 years without even counting the extra kisses in between. It's so true that you never know when you will need them.

Waving also to Bebbi, Iteach, Michael, Zona and all the other Owls. BBL after PT.

LMAO @ Michael.

So sorry you had to say the 's'word. But thanks.

We are not usually late, but I have missed a few phone calls and the doorbell ringing. ijs

Sacbarb, I am glad you got your million in!

Tina, I am sure you have had at least one, the twins did just have a birthday you know.

GOLDIE: What a sweet blog and new friend that you met. I think it is always fun to speak to the person sitting next to you (usually) at the slots. Sounds like you found a good one this time. Too bad you didn't win all the money like MARY does (she's very lucky)!!!

Morning TINA: How did the evening end up with the birthday kids? Everyone gone yet? Hope you got some rest and didn't stay up late again last night. You are getting older you know and require more sleep.

SACBARB; How is that PT working for you? Are you still feeling better after you go for a few hours? I hope you get well soon from all that pain. Can you drive yet?

Morning or Afternoon BEBBI: How are you doing today? I have been meaning to ask you if you are still testing the waters for dating? I guess I am just nosey.

MIICHAEL: Look how easy it was to say the word "sweet". You must be sweet or you wouldn't have had all those husbands errr I mean wives! (Don't tell me the toaster story is not true....please!!!)

TINK: I wish that I lived by you and could go to the water exercises with you. I think I would do it if I had someone to go with on a regular basis.

ZONA: If TINK and I could live by or with you then we wouldn't have to go so far for our exercise and we could have a nice glass of wine afterwards on your deck. You are so lucky to have your own pool....I always thought it would be so fun but not much time for them in Denver.

Afternoon ITEACH: I would imagine you are enjoying your summer days now without working. Do you have any plans for the summer? You should (as you mentioned) go and see GOLDIE and JODI when your kids are gone for that week.....how fun would that be ....?

Looks like everyone on the blog is smooching today. My husband will wonder what came over me.

J/L Thinking about you today.

BEBBI - Happy tears :)

ITEACH - Waving a wing at you!!

ZONA - I'm sure you've got that number at least half covered!!

TINKA - Are you still hiding? Good luck on Thursday!!

MICHAEL - lol @ the old "bait n' switch"!! And was that WG1 OR WG2?

SACBARB - 33 years...I'm sure you covered a million easily ♥

DIANNE - Just grab him and lay one on 'em ♥

Dianne - It would be wonderful if you and Zona and I could go to the pool together. Zona could do laps while you and I did the water therapy. It's not much fun going by myself but I do hope to get back to it soon. I have only gone twice so far. This cold is really hanging on.

Tinka said...

Jodi - No I am not still hiding. Susan leaves at noon and Tango, Tia and I go down for our nap. Right now Jack is sitting in his lounge chair and I am curled up on the chesterfield. We have finished dinner so it is now our quality time. It's the best time of the day for me. Must get to that magic number of one million.

Dianne, this summer has been really good compared to last year.

I feel relaxed and having a lot of fun with the kids.

Tonight we went to a park and flew a kite. It was peaceful.

The kids and I have been through so much together and I feel it is making us stronger.

Dianne, The PT is helping a lot and I feel better every day. I am going to try to drive myself to the PT appointment on Thursday. Thanks for asking.

J/L, Hope you got to SoCal safely. (((HUGS))) to you and your Mom.
