Checkers

To: Canadian girl

From: The Night Owls

Dedicated to: ♥♥ Checkers♥♥

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in
all the world is more grateful for kindness than the
loving heart of me~~

Do not break my spirit, teach me slowly as I learn
from you. Your patience and understanding will
quickly teach me the things you would have me learn~~

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's
sweetest music, as you must know by the wagging
of my tail and my gentle purring when you are near.
The sound of your footstep falls upon my waiting ear~~

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for
I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed
to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the
privilege of sitting on your lap~~

Keep my bowl filled with milk, for I cannot tell
you when thirst comes~~

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, so I can
play and jump and in quiet times slide between
your legs and purr, and most of all sleep beside
you as you rest~~

And, my friend, when I am very old and I can
longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not
make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having
any fun. Please see to it that my life is taken gently.

With you my by side I shall leave this earth knowing
with my last breath I draw that my fate was always
safest in your hands~~

Let the angels come, as it is my time, and my dearest
friend, my memory will always be in your heart~~

♥♥♥♥

  10. It's 'Fess-Up Friday' , Nestmates!

*Carol, what a nice way to let our *CG know how much she remains in our thoughts today.

Now, back to 'Fess-up Friday'. Here's the deal. You know how some of us get a thrill out of being #1 to post on a new blog? Our beloved *Tina apparently gets a similar rush from being #1 on my*space Friends lists (who knew?).

She's been on my case for days now (all in good fun, of course!) because I (who could not possibly rank my 'Friends' as SOMEONE would have to be last and that sucks) keep my Friends List alphabetical, putting poor 'Tina with a T' near the bottom. I've reminded her that it could be worse....she could be poor 'Zona with a Z'. And do I get complaints from darling Zona........Noooooooooooo.

Well, apparently, 'Tina with a T' has found a way to move to the top of my list. It meant enough to her that she went & had her name legally changed to 'Aa Tina~in_ut'. So, to appease my dear friend Tina, I will be reshuffling my my*space Top Friends today by BRA SIZE, smallest to largest. That way 'AA-Tina' will always be first on my list. Sadly, based on some previous bragging here on the blog, I fear my dear *Tinka will now be last on the list. Apparently her "girls" have garnered plenty positive attention over the years! And, precious *whabbear, fear not. I know you're in there somewhere.

So, owlies, feel free to submit your bra-size by return post, and I'll begin my little project when ALL entries have been received. As Bartles & James and Dolly Parton would say........"Thanks for your support"!

  11. One should not shed tears at work.
Very touching (sniff) blog dear Carol. Bless little Checkers and all of our furbabies past and present.

Good morning all- hey Jodi, I can't get a hold of hubby- dang it, no camera!!

    Have a good day everyone!

  12. Good morning,

That was a beautiful blog this morning.

    Special hug to our CG.

    Have a good day everyone.

  13. i just finished getting caught up on yesterday comments. thank you ...all of you for your support. i really do ♥ all of you.

vig.....no no no. you did not offend me at all. your blog was very beautifully written. i just needed to get it off my chest why i am not able to be like you with strangers. as i have told some others yesterday in emails, it's all about me feeling guilty because of my fear.

cg....i'm still thinking of you and checkers today. hugs.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ok, I just changed to tears of laughter. Bon Bon you are a riot!
Hey, lucky me- I should be somewhere at the top of the list!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. oh bon'o....that is hilarious! i will not, however, be submitting my bra size to you. needless to say, you will just have to put me down at the bottom. somewhere down near your navel.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ok...now i really am going to crawl back in bed.

  19. My goal for today is to get chores done and stay off the 'puter (Yeah, right!), but before I go....

  20. CG...so sorry for the loss of your beloved Checkers. Hope this blog helps ease your pain and offers comfort and solace! Big hugs!

Carol..what lovely writing...and what a kind thing you have done for a friend who is missing a friend!

Barbara_in_wa...thank you so much for letting me know you are okay and I didn't hurt you. I can't imagine the pain you have experienced. And your experience can't help but affect how you see the world. I send you hugs and hope that today (and everyday) the faces that you see are only kind and smiling.

  21. Good Morning Owls!

My body feels like it's going through detox right now so my hoot isn't as cheery today.

Cpgem8: Dedicating this blog to Checkers was very kind and thoughtful.

I'm seeing grief from a pet's perspective today. I have a Yorkie here named Brandi whose human mom passed away 2 weeks ago. I can see the sadness in Brandi's eyes. Her dad told me she hasn't been eating well, and she just lies on the couch staring at the front door. It's heartbreaking. They love us just as much as we love them.

Back to work now. Hope you all have a good day.

  22. I am somewhere in the middle.

    38D

However, I am in the biggest loser contest and I hoping to get these puppies down to a "B", so then I can be near the top.

  23. JODI,I have the camera! Apparently hubby was screening call, and listened to my impassioned plea on voice mail!!

Are you seriously making potato salad? Because if you are not, it would be a very cruel taunt....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Shouting in laughter at Bon'O's post!

Carol: Thanks for that... I know CG will really appreciate it! I talked to her on chat last night. She'd had a few Black Russians, and her hubby came through with all kinds of unexpected support. Thank-you, Brian!

It's another cold and bleak and wet day here in NorCal. We all need a tropical vacation.

Speaking of which, has anyone invited K-girl to the Owl's nest? I think she'd like it here.

    ReplyDelete
  25. GOLDIE - Yeah for Mr. Goldie!!! And yes, I would never tease like that!!! Get your mouth ready for a little piece of heaven!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Carol!! I can't believe you did such a sweet thing for me and my sweet baby. When I opened up the nest and saw the title "Checkers" I started to cry. You are all so very special, and I can't begin to express my gratitude for your understanding and support. Some people just don't get it, but you all do.

It was a rough night last night. After I cleared away his dishes, litter box and toys I decided to DRINK! LOTS!!! I had a little kitty wake and I cried and sobbed. He always slept on my bed with me and purred in my ears, so it was a long and lonely night. This morning, my whole routine was out of whack and I can barely open my eyes - they are so swollen I look like I have little piggie eyes! AND of course I'm at work.

Again, thank you all so much - it really means a lot to me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That was wonderful. It takes me back to our beloved Boz that we had to let go of a few years ago. I finally new he was at peace when I had a dream of him running in a field ears flying and I swear he was smiling. I think he was letting me know I am happy and Ok Mom. I loved that dog. Beautiful Carol and such a caring thing to do for our Canadiangirl.

Now Bono: Did you want cup size or full measurement?

    Hi Jodi! Missed you yesterday!

Good Morning Goldie your hubby screens your calls too???

Sending Top O' the Mornings to lovey, Vig, iteach, BarbWA, Amicus and EBJ!

    ReplyDelete
  28. ((((CGIRL)))) - Take care today - and I hope you know we luv ya!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Carol thank you for helping ease CG's pain. Your blog today was so beautiful.

CG have you ever read Cat Heaven? It is a children's book that is so beautiful. Everytime one of my student's loses a cat we read that book in class.

Even though I teach in a public school, I don't care. I still read the book anyway.

Time to pick them up from gym.

    ReplyDelete
  30. CG: I know how much you are hurting and my heart breaks for you. {{HUGS}} I wish I could do more.

CPGEM8: Ah---and now I know why "GEM" is in your name..you certainly are one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Cgirl: Sending you (((hugs))). It will take awhile but it is best to grieve for your beloved Checkers.

Good Morning to Whabbear! What is your cup size?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Remember dear CG- 'thats what friends are for' (in my best singing voice, which isn't too good)

Reminds me of another story.... When Mr. Goldie and I were dating, we were in church and I was singing away. Suddenly he nudges me, leans over and says "just mouth the words". So we made a deal- I get to sing long and loud during Christmas service. The rest of the year I have to shut up.

  33. I just got off the phone with my daughter, who suggested that I buy a cucumber at lunchtime for my eyes. I told her I thought people might get the wrong idea if I just buy a big old cuke in the middle of the day.

And Bono - they are currently 36C - I have a boob job fund jar on my fridge, but so far, I can't even afford a nipple

    ReplyDelete
  34. JODI: LMAO at you telling Goldie to get her mouth ready for a little piece of heaven!

    GOLDIE: Let us know!

BON'O: Ummmm about me being last.. ;)

CG: And now you make me laugh!! More hugs to you!!

Everyone have a great morning--I am finally going to bed...LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  35. (see, I knew I couldn't stay away long but promise I'm just reading over a.m. coffee)

*cg ~~ I say, buy a few carrots in assorted sizes along with that cucumber. They'll just think you're making a nice salad for lunch ;D~~

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lynn D: Well, aye, there's the rub! I've been in my cups a few too many times, I "cupped" a feel occasionally in my younger days, and I drink from cups routinely.

But I don't have a cup size. What's to be done?

    ReplyDelete
  37. CG: Go for it! Maybe if you do buy a cucumber, you'll get invited by a cute young frat boy to a Toga Party!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I WISH I HAD MORE TIME TO SPEND WITH YOU WOMEN AND YOU TOO WHABBY. Get to see clients today..my weekend opens up after 12 tomorrow so...

Zona has it right, lets start calling Carol GEM..she really is a Gem!

How are the eyes CG? No rubbing! (your eyes)

BONO..sis...you carracck me up. so, cup or full? hmm not sure, but I'm sure I'll be down there with some of the other owls.

    Jodi, thanks for the kleenex

I will fess up later..need to shower for the benefit of all.

Miss you all....and it is a mixed blessing..I NEED to work..so its good I am...inconvenient though.

    peace...

  39. GOLDIE - It's smelling good!!! Thankfully I didn't take egg cooking lessons from TINA!!! :D :D

  40. What a beautiful post, Carol! And CG, big ole hugs to you too!

CG--also, LOL at your buying a cucumber at the store, like Whabby said--go for it, LOL!

Bon'oregon--LOL at your post! You crack me up!

Jodi and Goldie-enjoy your lunch today!

  41. Whabbear hmmmmmm I seem to remember from my years as a sister and a Mom of boys that there was a certain cup for males. That had nothing to do with the chest. But upon reflection. I realize the sizes ran small (what male would buy that?) medium, large. If there was an extra large no one in my family stretched to that size! oops. Though I don't know how that would work for Bono and her new system.

Hmmmm Small A cup, Medium B cup Large C cup, Extra large D cup, Extra Extra large....well I just fainted.

Of course if you use this translation you risk being at the bottom of her friends list, I am sure.

Boy you guys get my brain working in weird ways!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks goodness for the little favors in life. Burnt eggs in potato salad- ickyyyyyyyyyyyy

    ReplyDelete
  43. Finished the comments from last nite.

iteach: I don't buy from the Disney store. To expensive. I have a couple of super secret places that I get my Disney items from for Ebay.

I think it was Zona who asked if MEK and I have a super bug. I am not sure what I have but I would not wish it on my worst enemy or Tina. LOL I do know my Doctor and a friends Doctor have been treating a high number of cases of Bronchitis, Pnumonia, and flu this year and several people I know have been sick for up to 3 weeks. I am at 2 1/2 weeks. It is driving me crazy.

Cgirl: Get the cucumber! Let them guess! Tho potato slices will work or old tea bags too.

Well I better get going here have to pay the monthly bills (yuck) and then run errands. I hope I don't throw up in Safeway.

  44. Good Mornig "NightOwls"...
    First...
Jodi-- thank you for the tissue...

cpgem.... what a powerful tribrute to Checkers.. How sweet...

CG--- My thoughts continue to be with you... I am one who fully understands the loss of pets...
I lost 5 in a 2 year span.. they were a family... mom, dad, son and daughter.(dogs).. and one cat.. It was the worst pain I ever felt... it took me years to ( and I still cry over them...)
my vet told me... "I've never met a pet that lived long enough"...

BArb in wa.--- my heart goes out to you.... I couldn't imagine lossing a sibling... and in that manor...

    HUGE GROUP HUG!!!!!
I am so grateful my sister invited to join the nest...
This is the caring group of people that I have seen assembled anywhere....
and like I said... I worked healthcare..and thought I knew special people...
You guys are the best... the support in here is amazing!!!!
    great day to all...

    ReplyDelete
  45. MOST caring group... missed a word...

  46. OMG...after reading CG's comment to her daughter about the wrong idea around big old cucumbers in the middle of the day....NOW I understand why I got the looks I got in the grocery store last week when I was in the checkout line just buying three very long English cucumbers. People, I was making Greek salad! (it's my story and I am sticking to it!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Good Morning!! EVERYONE!!!

cpgem - BRAVO, BRAVO - you never cease to amaze me with your beautiful writings...

CG - Drinking always helps!! :-) Still sending you LOTS of hugs - and buy the DAMN cucumber!! :-)

I did hug my animals extra and a little tighter yesterday -

    Jodi - congrats on first..

Bono - you can put me last if it will make everyone else feel better!! "Last but not least" - so it's okay!! :-)

Today's blog has left me emotionally drained....... so I need to go gather myself together..

Hope everyone has an excellent day!!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Good Morning all.
Jodi - Thanks for the Kleenex. I am having trouble reading the posts because of tears. The tribute to Checkers really got to me.

My eyes cleared and then I got to C.G's post about putting away his little dishes and toys and I was a puddle again. I have just one cat now but I had 3 loving kitties, each one a year apart. I lost them do to old age, again a year apart, starting 5 years ago and it seems like yesterday. It is heart wrenching to take them to the vet for the last time. Only a cat lover could feel your pain. There is also a book I would recommend to my children in my clsss if they lost their beloved pets. It is called
"Mustard" by Charlotte Graeber. It is the story of Alex having to say goodbye to his wonderful cat Mustard. I can't read it out loud but I would recommend it to the moms.
I went back and looked at your pictures of Checkers. He was a beautiful cat.

Bon Oregon - I laughed when I read your post. I had the same thing with my little girl Zona. I can still hear her words ringing in my ears "Last I am last on your list?". I had to change that fast. She is right up there now in the front row sitting next to Amicus who must be first because she is not only a friend but manager of myspace. I don't make a move before consulting my manager.
I remember the day my daughter discovered she was third and not first on my speed dial, I had to change that fast too.

Amicus - I think your "hoot isn't as cherry today" because not only are you in detox but you have also come off the adrenalin you had rushing through your body when you found out the good news. At least that is my theory. Give Brandi a hug for me. It must be so hard for animals to lose their 'human moms'.

iteach - Good luck in your bigggest loser contest. I know you will do well.

Whabbear - You are being your cute and cheeky self again this morning. I would ask Kgirl to come into the forest but with my directions she would be lost. Bear why don't you convince KFC to come and join us?

"Juno" was great. If you want more details write me on myspace. Some were asking me about it yesterday.

I would like to say "Good Morning" to all those who posted ahead of me today.
VIG, Lovey, night.owls.sb, barbara in Wa, goldie, east bay J. Lynn D and anyone else who was posting while I was writing. Now for some breakfast.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mek and Ibebold - You were writing when I was writing. Good Morning. I hope you are feeling well Mek. Spring is coming. Hang in there.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good Afternoon Feathered Friends!

CPGEM8 - That was lovely and touching, and such a beatuiful tribute to our furbabies that passed.

CG - continued {{{hugs}}} to you.

JODI - Congrats on being 1st!

*waving hi* to all that posted before me!! and those yet to post!

Sorry I missed breakfast, I slept in.

    LUNCH IS SERVED:
    Egg salad sandwiches
    chips
    Fruit salad

sorry, not too gourmet, but Tina doesn't know how to boil eggs, so maybe it is!! bwahahaha

  52. Canadiangirl I know how painful this is for you as I have been their myself. We grieve over our beloved pets because they are truly members of the family. My thoughts are with you.

cpgem8 That was a lovely and fitting blog for today. I was crying while I read it.

  53. Just-lin--- catching up on last night.... Sam Elliott is one of my favorites... he is one of my top friends on my space...I always say... " I wouldn't kick nim out of bed for eating crackers"...lol...lol..

And... hey MEK--- when were you going to tell me that I am going to be an aunt again... I need to get started on a Blanket.....

  56. What a beautiful sentiment and tribute to Checkers. Jodi, thanks for the Kleenex, I needed it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hello all you Hooters. I hope everyone is having a good day. It is rainy and blustery here and we are expecting high winds again this weekend. I am going to stock up on Presto logs in case the electricity goes out again. I'm off to read all the comments now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jodi: congrats on #1

Bon'O: You really crack me up. But seriously, I think I will be last on your list because I am a 38 Long. My cups do runneth over however!

VIG: Love me some Greek salad. Screw what people think.

CG: More (((HUGS))) coming your way.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ibebold Yes, Sam Elliott has the best, sexy voice ever. I especially like him with a moustache and long hair.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Bon'O: Thanks for the pic of the men in uniform. At some point, I should provably amend my statement. Nah....

    ReplyDelete
  61. Happy 27th birthday Alicia Keys!

    *sacbarb ~ lol @ "38 long" :D~~

Sitting here freezing while starting income tax prep (can it be that time already?), as we're not allowed to build fires today. Almost noon & still not above freezing, after a low in the mid-teens. How can it look so warm & sunny outside and be so friggin' cold? Sympathy to those of you in the Cali rains, but we in the PNW are happy for you. You need it way more than we do.

    ReplyDelete
  62. *****ATTN K-MART SHOPPERS*****
It seems that Jodi and Goldie are drunk off their rockers at lunch and can't even talk on a cell phone without hanging up! Thought everyone would want to know! :)~

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.....and i need to read the blog and comments~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  63. Tina Thank you for the update on Goldie and Jodi. It's good that someone is keeping an eye on them.

    ReplyDelete
  64. LOL Tina, at least that means they're having fun! Let's see, Goldie is drunk AND getting Jodi's specialty potato salad?! I'd say she reallly is in heaven! LOL! I'm glad they're having fun.

Again, Carol, what a wonderful blog you wrote today! Kudos to you!

Maureen--thanks again for bringing lunch, I love egg salad, yummo!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hi guys - me again! My eyes are all leaky again and I feel like my heart is literally going to break in half.

I left work early, since I was obviously the most ineffective lawyer on the planet today. I came in my door to an empty house for the first time in nearly 20 years with no little meow and purr to greet me and I honestly looked at his chair to see if he was sleeping. I started to empty the dishwasher and found his clean dishes that I had forgotten about yesterday. I am not a weeping, sobbing, slit-eyed mess!

Sorry, I had no one else to tell. My husband thinks I'm having a "pity party" now and I should just get over it and I know my daughter is worried that this is going to send me over the edge, so I just keep telling her I'm fine.

If I didn't have this stupid hangover, I would be temped to drink again!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Jeez! That should have been I am NOW a .. mess, not NOT! Honestly, I didn't start drinking yet!

    ReplyDelete
  67. CG - gosh - I know words will not help - but PLEASE know that we ALL feel you pain........ bless you!!!
AND - what about a "hair of the dog" - so ahead and drink!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. CGirl: My heart is breaking for you. I wish I had the right words to soothe you, but I'm not sure there are words. Just know that we are all here for you and we love you.

    ReplyDelete
  69. canadiangirl You are NOT having a pity party. You are grieving. It's absolutely normal and understandable. You loved Checkers and he was an important part of your life. It will take time to get over this loss and remember the good times rather than the pain. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  70. Cgirl: Cry!!! Get it out. I cried for days when we had to let our dog go. I was amazed at how much I missed him. No pity party. There is no time limit on grieving.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ohhh it sounds like Goldie and Jodi are raising well you know what! LOL I hope they have a grand time. It sounds like they are drunk dialing too!

Mo thanks for the lunch buffet!

Well I am off to run errands. Everybody have a wonderful afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ohhhh, Terri. If you want to go on chat, JAC's there right now. If we'd only known you were home... we just finished a "lunch chat" for the first time (for me).

Nowmercy: No problem! There is tht little irritating thing called making a living that gets in the way.

Lynn D: ROFLMAO! I have never had the dubious pleasure of experiencing a hard on while wearing a cup. Thus, I can't help you with your calibration!

Tinkatia: LOL at you, too! I promise... no more boundary pushing, especially in regards to Ryan. That pun was so bad and belabored because I've totally run out of them.

Meanwhile, I would love to get Karen on here. Lets see, if you and LOM and Linda and I gang up on her, maybe we'll have some success!

    ReplyDelete
  73. SACBARB - So great to chat with you today. And 38 long?!!!? LOL!!! :D :D

TINA - So nice of you to get up when you were suppose to - NOT!!! lol @ DRUNK OFF THEIR ROCKERS!! I only had one beer - promise!!!

CGIRL - Too bad you couldn't fly in for lunch with Goldie and me. According to TINA we're a couple of drunk whores!!! LOL!!! Nurse that hangover - but sometimes it's better to just get back in the saddle. Any luck with the cucumber?!!?

LYNN D - LOL@ drunk dialing!! TINA should learn how to not drop her calls!!

TO ALL: I had a fabulous lunch with Miss Goldie!! She is a delight - and we had many laughs and fun taking pics. Although I'm not sure what our waiter thought!! :D :D She promised me she would upload them as soon as she could. BON- we took a special one for you!!!

    Everyone have a great weekend!!!

    Peace & Luv 2 U All
    Jodi

    ReplyDelete
  74. Good to 'see' you back safely,*Jodi~~I was about to fly to WI to be your designated driver!

hmmmmm, why am I just BUSTing with anticipation to see that photo??

    ReplyDelete
  75. Whabby - I will email KFC as well.

Jodi and Goldie - glad that lunch went well - whabby is the MASTER at drunk texting - maybe Tina should have taken "drunk texting 101" - she could have traded marching lessons!! :-)

    ReplyDelete

  92. Tinka,
Thank you! Brandi was already gone by the time I read your post, but I'll give her a hug from you next time she's here. Her dad treats her like a princess so I know she's going to be OK. I'm glad they have each other.

I think you're right about the temporary high from feeling like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I also think I'm trying to make too many changes all at once. It's thrown my body into shock. ;) I need to come up with a Plan B, because working with pets requires lots patience so I don't want to be crabby. I gave myself permission to drink a Coke today, and that helped. :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. MEK - Marching to 100 for Checkers!!! Kudos girlfriend!!

  94. Mo--- YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ribs... and you have to have cole slaw with ribs... you are the best!!!

  95. I just returned from walking my 'babies' in the sunshine and I feel 'yellow' all over. I hope this weather lasts. I keep looking for the first snow-drop. It shouldn't be long now.

Bon Oregon - I know wood fires aren't good for the environment but I will be so sad when they ban them here. The warmth from a wood stove or fireplace is so cozy. It is what makes winter bearable.

C.G. - You aren't having a pity party. You have every right to grieve. Be kind to yourself. You deserve it.

Whabbear - Shakespeare loved puns so you are in good company. Yes, let's kidnap KFC and bring her to our woods. She would love it here with the owls once she got used to it. I am glad KGirl is considering it.

Maureen - I am just in time. I would love some BBQ ribs (my favourite) and apple sauce. I can always count on you to feed me.

Amicus - I thought I might have missed Brandi. You can give him my hug next time.
    What is your plan B?
I don't think a coke once in a while will hurt you. You have to have some pleasures with food.

I was asked today by a BB is I thought Juno was suitable for her 12 year old daughter. I really don't know the answer. The subject matter was teen pregnancy and it contained a good message for teens. However there were some inappropriate scenes. Does anyone have an answer to this question?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I meant to say 'if I thought' nor 'is I thought'. Proof read Tinka, proof read.

    ReplyDelete
  97. MO - thanks for dinner - YUMMY - BBQ ribs - better grab a bib!! and a beer!!!

Jodi and Just Lin - thanks!! :-)

Tinka - I have yet to see "Juno", so i can not help you..

Is everyone at Happy Hour?!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  98. I have a big pan of Spoon Bread in the oven should be ready in about half an hour!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. IBB - can't wait to tell Mr. MEK when he gets home---

my nap - well, I had two kitties come let me know it was 5pm, two seconds later - the phone rang, it was MR. MEK, on his way home and THEN, the cell phone rangs seconds later - that same damn person that can NOT get it thru their thick skull that they have the WRONG number - - - - - - - geez....

so - I'm up - the animals are ALL fed and I'm watching the news..

Miracle that noone was hurt in that casino fire in Vegas...

    ReplyDelete
  100. LOL - cell phone "rangs" - I meant RINGS!! good grief!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. CG.....cry. Everyone here knows that pets are like your kids. You feed them, you give them a warm place to sleep, you cuddle with them, you love them. And they love you back. It's going to hurt. Let it. You have so much that you are dealing with right now besides the loss of your little kitty. Cry. And it's Friday night so have that drink!

  102. Hi gang!

First I have ask Just Lin a serious question, if she doesn't mind answering I would really appreciate it. What are the meds that your doctor has you on for your Thyroid?? I ask because a friend of mine is having some serious problems with hers, they quit working and she was wondering if you are on a synthetic med or a natural med like Armor?

If that is too personal I understand. I would email you at myspace but if I remember right you don't have a myspace.

Ok now on a lighter note:

IBB: LOL I was thinking the same thing about Cgirls husband and many men just not getting it but held back.

Whabbear: I am glad I had you on the floor....laughing!

Jodi: Yeah right one beer!! How many did Goldie Have? I am so glad you girls had a great time.

MO: Thank for dinner where do I leave a tip?? Sit down and eat with us damnit!

Tinka: Since I have not seen the movie and don't know your friend I do not feel qualified to offer advice. But I would hope in this day and age parents are really discussing openly, teen pregnancy.

Amicus: I am trying to find a balance for a low sodium diet. This is really a challenge! Read your labels people I am shocked at how much sodium is in our cereal. Even the ones that are "good for us". Don't cut out everything at once or you will be a raving lunatic! I know I've tried. I am now approaching one issue at a time. BP being first.

Now I feel calmer just being here my trip to run errands was a fiasco today. I also think Bono jinxed me as my damn bra on the left side kept riding up so that my boob was hanging freely on that side most of the day. Thank goodness I wear polar fleece.

You guys would also not believe what happened in the grocery store. I have to say I have seen it all now and I did not keep my mouth shut either.

I was cruising the frozen food aisle tugging on my bra as I went. I really needed to get to the frozen veggies but there was a woman who had her cart parked in front of three of the doors, of course the one I needed to get into. So I worked my way slowly down the other side of the aisle and then came up her side and she is still parked there. I kept thinking geez this woman can't make up her mind so I steer around her and come up behind hoping she will feel me breathing on her neck or something. I just was not paying attention. I finally really look at her and you will not believe this.......
She is typing on a friggin' laptop computer propped up in the kiddie seat of her cart!!!!!!!!

I actually said unbelieveable very loudly in my gravel strained voice. I actually made her jump!

I am still in shock! I think I am going to have a drink.

    ReplyDelete
  103. LynnD: I was ROFLMAO at the visual you created about your "boob hanging freely" then you tell off a customer in the store. What kind of a reaction did you get from her?? I hope she moved, at least! You deserve that drink.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I am so excited..I have a few minutes. DD in shower, Monk not on tv for 30 minutes. Dinner here is pasta, sauce or garlic with red peppers (her/me) asparagus, wine/rootbeer (me/her). mmmmm come on over..gotta wear pjs though, this is movie/noodle night. Rule: no answering the phone, reading or distracting, pjs, bed, fun.

    Okay..
JustLin: you are so funny..from yesterday
Tink: Glad you had a great walk..yellow! I agree..love fires, my insert is a "effecient" one..
CG: Grieve on as long as you have grief..losing a furry love is deep.
Maureen: I'm a vegetarian so thanks for the beans..I'll supply the beano
LynnD: Juno is okay for a mature 12 and with an adult along..my opinion only. They do make it look too easy in my opinion, kind of gloss over the nitty gritty.
MEK: I LOVED you march..you are beautiful in those spiked marching boots.
IBEBOLD: I secretly love golf on tv
    Iteach,Vig,Whabby,Gem, Jodi,Goldie, SisBon...waves.

I finally feel deserving to be here again..sad to be gone..missed you all...single mom-ing..phew.

Will try to check in later.

Enjoy the night..my drink tonight.. BV Cabernet Sauvingon mmmsmooth.

    Hugs all round

  106. Hello Nesters!!!!

Lunch with great and dinner was better- I had potato salad, and I even shared with my hubby and Mother.

I am a bit concerned though about a certain crazy women who called in the middle of lunch and was laughing and snorting and choking so much I couldn't understand a word. I don't know, something about me being a bitch and sitting with the whore.... And do you know the worst part??? SHE had ME talking on a cell phone in the middle of a resturaunt!

By the way Jodi, my hubby loved our pics but thinks we are nuts. I need you to email me please. I can't find your email and I need to send these!!

    And I was not drunk!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Lunch WAS great (geez, maybe I am drunk)

    ReplyDelete
  108. lynnd..did you ask about thyroid. I have some experience there..I use Armor but do find it sometimes to be inconsistant. I didn't like synthroid though. If I can figure how to add you as a friend (still lame in that dept) I'd be happy to help more if you want.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Goldie~ oh honey~ YOU WERE DRUNK!! and that was a test. Remember, I was at home.....YOU answered the cell phone. You didn't have to and I feel that it was inappropriate to be talking on the phone when you are having a lovely lunch witn someone so sweet!

Jodi~ I'm so sorry she was rude to you~ :)~

  111. LynnD My thyroid has been removed. I take Levothroid (aka synthroid). When I was having trouble I just needed to have my doseage adjusted. Everything's been great since then.

LOL @ your boob hanging freely.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Tina I love the care package you put together for Canadiangirl. Perfect!

    ReplyDelete
  113. *lynn d: Until starting a low-dose bp med this winter, the ONLY Rx I've been on is Levoxyl for my non-existent thyroid. Doc hasn't upped my dose for years and it's so cheap, I think it's just a placebo :o)

YAY~~burn ban was lifted at 4pm so we can be cozy tonight! The small pleasures are the best!

This is going to be a bad segue after that last sentence, but.....

*nowmercy ~ since you ARE my little sister, a word of advice about this group: You probably don't want to say (see your last to Tinka) that "my insert is a "effecient" one.." not after 5pm! Next thing you know you'll be in trouble, along with *cg, at the grocery check-out. Just tryin' to help my sis here.

Let's all swoop down to the campfire with our paper plates full of ribs & slaw and sing camp songs for *Lynn d, starting with...

    "Do your t*ts hang low?
do they wobble to & fro?
Can you tie 'em in a knot?
Can you tie 'em in a bow?
    etc, etc."

  114. Tina, Tina, Tina, tsk tsk. My poor delusional friend.........

  116. Hello All my Lovely Night Owls!!!

I haven't posted in a few days, because I was having difficulty getting in and was VERY frustrated! But, it seems I am OK'd for take-off!!!

But, my profile and picture I think have disappeared, and I am afraid to try to start over, thinking I will then be banished! If you want to see my profile and picture, (with Miss Laurie) I think it is still there in one of the first blogs!

I love all the "owl" pictures, some are so crazy!!!

On a serious note, I cried so much reading today's blog entry. It was so beautiful, and heartrending.

CG, I so understand your pain in having to put your beloved Checkers to sleep. I also went through this ordeal with our beloved Romeo a few years ago.

He was very attached to Laurie. But, as his illness (mental) progressed the vet agreed with me that it would be wrong to keep him alive while in such pain.

I will always remember him as the most beautiful, loving, white albino kitty!! He was a lover! Hence the name. But, as he grew older, he developed some sort of "brain/mental" issue. He would go crazy over nothing, and he almost attacked my grandchildren one day. When he almost bit Laurie one day, we put him on "kitty Prozac" But that didn't work either.

The day I took him into the vet to be euthanized, he actually walked into his carrier, (unheard of before that day!) At the vet's he laid uncomplaining on the exam table, (also unheard of before.) I truly believe he knew what was going to happen, and that he was going to a better place. Cats are something else, altogether a different breed! So intuitive.

Before the Dr administered the shot, I was allowed all the time I needed to say goodbye, and afterward, the same thing. It was heartbreaking. Just as I know it was heartbreaking for you to let Checkers go.

I have never gotten another cat. Although we had several others before Romeo, I just can't bring myself to get another one.

What a lovely tribute was given to Checkers today. I hope you are able to remember all the lovely times you shared with your dear kitty, and that those will bring you some comfort and solace.

I haven't had time to read all the comments today, its been another crazy day in the life of DJ and LE!

We had to go back to the Lab today to get more blood drawn. We tried yesterday, and the Tech was unable to get a vein! Lauries veins have been so worked over, they just gave up! Fortunately, today, we got a TERRIFIC Lab Tech who took the time (about 15 minutes) to actually look for the right vein, and got it on the first try! Laurie's little arms are so bruised from the hospital, she was so scared!

After this, I don't think she will have to have any more blood drawn for awhile, at least I hope so!

We are going down to San Francisco on Tues to meet with the Cardiac Clinic, and see if she needs any further surgical intervention. I am praying not!!! But, if she needs it, so be it. We will do anything to keep her well and happy.

So sorry to take up so much Blog space.

Off now to read all the comments, so I will most likely be back later!

Love you all, Donna and Laurie

    ReplyDelete
  117. DonnaJean Yay!!!!You made it. I was getting ready to send out a search party. Glad you're here. Hopefully everything will go well for Laurie Elizabeth. Love ya.

  118. Hey Night Owls! I have been lurking since the beginning, wondering when or if I should comment.

I deleted some of you from my myspace page a couple of weeks ago. It was done in haste and with no explanation. I am very sorry.

I don't get the "humor" in comments sometimes. It's something I need to work on. Perhaps you can all help me.

I have been noticing a lot of food being consumed here but I haven't seen a carrot cake yet. I brought two...one with walnuts and one without, and both, of course, with cream cheese icing. Enjoy!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi Shirley! Welcome to the nest.

I LOVE Carrot Cake (with nus). Will just help myself to a nice big piece, since you are offering :

    ReplyDelete
  120. *goldie ~~ thanks so much for sharing the lunch photos! Wish we all could have been there.

*Jodi ~~ It's hard to find California canteloupe that size. Are those Wisconsin-grown?

OMG! I can't bear Larry King, but just turned on the TV and it was tuned to CNN. How incredibly cool is Ringo Starr's new cd/dvd??? It's not a dvd at all. It's a bracelet (like the rubber LiveStrong, etc. cause bracelets), but it has a clasp, which is actually a USB port plug-in. I love technology!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Oh, Shirley, you will fit right in.

I do everthing in haste too.

I am Italian what can I say.

I think with my heart first before my brain.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yay!!! Shirley is in the house! And I will take my carrot cake with walnuts please, and a large glass of ice cold milk to go with!!!

I will get to the wine a bit later, thank you!

No need to send a search party Lin, I always show up sometime!!! But I appreciate that someone is looking out for me!

And BTW, Miss Lin, the picture is pretty HOT, both of them, wink wink!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Oh, I will just only eat the icing part and not the cake. I am on a diet.

    ReplyDelete
  124. DonnaJean: Good to see you back. Poor Laurie having to endure such trauma. I pray all goes well at the cardiac clinic and no surgery will be needed.

Shirley: Hi ::waving madly:: I'm so glad you decided to jump in and join us. Thanks for the carrot cake. I love it with nuts. (Tina, don't go there).

    ReplyDelete
  125. Umm, Bon Bon, how did you know those were Jodi's cantelopes and not mine? :(
Oh yeah, thats right- I only brought grapes to the fruit salad...

    ReplyDelete
  126. shirley ~~ since I already scolded you privately on my*space :o), a thousand gracious welcomes to the nest. It must have been cold lurking out there in this weather!

    ReplyDelete
  127. It is nice to be welcomed. Thank you. Any diet I have been on said that carrots were good for you, so I just assume that carrot cake would be good for you too! Seems logical to me! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  128. You guys are too too funny!

Nowmercy: I don't know what she was doing but it had to be pretty engrossing as she just scooted her cart forward and kept typing!!! Did I say Unbelievable??? Also honey I am your friend check your myspace list. I am the one with the two kids sledding and it says Lynn D. Any help you can give me would be great!

Bono: They do hang low and wiggle to and fro. Can't tie them in a bow yet and I can't figure out why I would want to tie them in a knot! I will let my friend know what you are on for non existent thyroid. Thank you.

Sacbarb see response to Nowmercy. Did I say unbelievable??? She just kept typing away!!! I have to wonder where else she takes that laptop! ewwww the thought.

Just Lin: Thank you for your response I will let her know what you are taking too. She is taking something that starts with a T can't remember the name but it has quit working for her and she is getting very ill.

Tina: Geez calling and making those girls talk on a cell phone in a restaurant!! Oh but I heard a rumor that there are drunken photos on Goldies myspace!

DonnaJean: I truly hope that this is the last blood draw for Laurie! I am praying for no surgery. Hugs to you both.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hey sacbarb!! (waving wildly!!!!!)
Yes Bon it has been cold but very entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Hi Shirley!!

Welcome to the nest! Thanks for the carrot cake! I like nuts too. Go figure.

Goldie has been drinking that is why she said nus and the stressed NUTS! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  131. Now ladies, there is no proof that I was drinking (earlier at lunch) and the only picture of any type suggesting such is of JODI and not me. Just because I look shitfaced in the picture of us both means nothing. Tina is just trying to start a nasty rumor.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Good Evening!

LYNN D - Why didn't you just let the left one rest in the kiddie seat of your cart?? LOL!!
I had a similar experience at the grocery today, except no computers were involved! This lady was picking out tuna - - for freakin ever. I was like, it's canned tuna what's the dilemna!!

DONNA JEAN - Nice to see you again! I will keep thinkg positive thoughts for Miss Laurie's cardiac visit. You both stay in my thoughts and prayers.

  133. LynnD, my mother, sister and brother have thyroid cancer and have had their thyroids removed. They all take synthroid (probably differentt dosages). I take it too but I still have my thyroid.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Hi Mo: I would have rested it in the kiddie seat but I did not want to draw attention to myself and was trying to be a lady! LMAO

Shirley thank you for the information I will let her know. I think she is researching on her own because this has been such a problem for her.

Jodi Jodi Jodi: I saw the pics one beer yeah right!! It takes at least 3 beers for me to display my chest that proudly!

Goldie: You are one hot Grandma! Even though you did have beer eyes in that picture! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  135. Shirley Welcome! Thanks for bringing the carrot cake. Like DonnaJean, I'll take a slice with nuts and a glass of milk, please.

  158. Apology accepted. It is a mistake my husband often makes too...

I am going marathon shopping with my Mother tomorrow. She is spending the weekend with us. So I am off to bed to get some good rest so I have the stamina to go shopping and - out to lunch again. But don't worry, I won't be posting pictures of my mothers boobs tomorrow :)
