Over the Rainbow
Over the Rainbow
by Zona
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10w_sEcHlGs
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?
I can remember, when I was just a little girl sitting in front of the television set every year, waiting to see "The Wizard Of Oz". The love of this movie has been with me all of my life. More than the movie though, the song "Over The Rainbow" has always been special to me. Whenever I was sad or lonely I would think of this beautiful song, and wish beyond all logic, that somehow I could get "beyond the rainbow" to ease my pain.
That is what lies Over the Rainbow for me...a place where you don't hurt anymore. Where there is only kindness, laughter, and understanding.
If you could fly over the rainbow, what would you hope to find? Joy? Peace? Happiness? Maybe Johnny Depp? What is beyond the rainbow for you?
Zona, same as you, every yr. I waited for Wizard of Oz to come on tv as a little girl. It continued as I had my first 2 children and I did the same with them. I would wish for troubles melting like lemon drops, sounds wonderful! I bought this dvd for my granddaughter , who is now 4 yrs. old and she will say to me, " we can watch your favorite movie, grandma". But most of the time I have to sit through princess movies. I love it anyway.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, all the happiness we are looking for can be found in our own back yard.
Donna Jean, I was happy to see you here yesterday. There is an expression that I would like to extend to you ~ The first 100 years are the hardest. A warm hello to you and Laurie.
Good morning owls!
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteCongrats again GM!
Zona, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all find our "over the rainbows"??
I think for me, the world would be a kind, accepting place. No suffering or pain. And peace.
Just sitting here thinking, a more detailed list would be very, very long.
I hope everyone has a nice day today!
Good Morning, Grandma Moses! Congratulations and woohoo on first!
ReplyDeleteAnd good morning EBJ!
Zona..you are amazing. Love this topic! And watching Judy Garland sing Somewhere over the Rainbow is a fantastic way to start the day! Thank you!
And if Johnny Depp is over the rainbow, I am sooooo on my way! I would also want to find a land where war has been banned. It is sunny all the time. The love of one's life is waiting by the fencepost. The people and pets one has loved and lost are waiting too. There is an endless supply of chocolate cheesecake and diets are not allowed yet there are no body image issues. Tolerance and acceptance are the norm and nobody cares or spends any time thinking about other peoples skin colour, or who they pray to or who they love. Oh yes, it is a land I have dreamed of..once in a lullaby!
Good morning east bay j and vig! TY for the kudos for first.
ReplyDeletevig so nicely said!
Good Morning

I am going back to work...
ReplyDeleteSee you guys tonite!
Great blog Zona!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on #1 grandma moses!
Unfortunately I don't think there are any over the rainbow moments in my future. That's how I feel today. I am just an emotional PMS mess and probably shouldn't even hit "publish your comment", but I will. Here's a little breakfast for you.
eggs (any style)
toast
english muffins
bagels
milk
tea
coffee
jam
marmalade
fruit
I just love that movie Zona. I love going to Diane's myspace page and listening to all the songs.
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Grandma Moses on first!
Zona: Love the Wizard of OZ!
What I hope is on the other side of this life?
True Happiness and unconditional love, which means to me no suffering, love and acceptance for everyone a refuge from the experiences and sadness that we all have to deal with in this lifetime. Whether we made bad choices or someone did for us here on earth we will be accepted no matter what.
I was very sad to see the post about Mary's brother. Sending heart felt prayers and (((Hugs))) to her and her family this morning!
Kgirl I will be watching Oprah today. I think that Thomas is a wonderful human for interrupting his true path to make the person he loves happy.
Good morning EBJ,Vig,Carol,Tinka and Shirley!
Good Morning to Iteach too!
ReplyDeleteTOP TWENTY!!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteZona, this is such a beautiful blog, and I watched Wizard of Oz every chance I got when I was a little girl too. This topic say's so much about your heart, Zona. xoxo
Grandma Moses, Congrat's on #1 and I love your granddaughter saying,"Let's watch YOUR favorite movie." Precious!
EBJ, I so agree with you about the no suffering and peace. Not only does that statement extend around the world, but in each of our own hearts, as well.
Vig, I too, like starting my day with the sweetness of Over The Rainbow. Your statement was very well said.
Carol, Good morning to you, and I'm so sorry for your computer problems at home. Also, thank you for giving us this blog each day so all of us CAN forget about the outside world for a moment and start our day with such lovely thoughts as Zona brought us today, as well as others each morning.
I so appreciate you.
Tink, I'm so glad you are feeling better today and all is right with the world.
Shirley, I love your breakfast, I believe I'll have a piece of toast and a cup of coffee. I don't want you to think there are "no rainbow moments" in your future....because there are. Life is so sweet and this is just a pms "moment". See, the end of pms is a great rainbow moment. lol
Good Morning, everyone..
ReplyDeleteGrandma - congrats on first.
Zona - wow, just last week, I put my favorite "version" of "Over the Rainbow" on my myspace page!!
I have NEVER seen "The Wizard of Oz" in it's entireity (I am sure that is misspelled) - what I am saying is that I have never seen the whole movie - As I have discussed earlier - when the neighbor comes to take Toto away in the basket on her bike - the music and her laugh scared me to death as a young child and I would leave the room - In fact, I didn't know for the longest time, that the whole thing was a dream - I'm chuckling to myself - cuz I just can NOT bring myself to sit and watch!!!!!!
Over my Rainbow - where do I begin??!! But - I know that my hopes, wishes and dreams will never come true!! So -
I hope everyone has an excellent day!! :-)
TWENTY
ReplyDeleteShirley - Thanks again for breakfast. I will have a bagel and tea please. You will see your rainbow soon. PMS dissolves the most beautiful of rainbows. Take care. Be good to yourself today.
ReplyDeleteOh ZonaBaby - What a lovely blog. That is one of my favourite movies and songs of all time. It started being shown every year since 1957. I would watch it with my mom and dad. After I was married I watched it with my husband. When my children were little, every Friday night was family party night. We would light the weekend candle as soon as it was dark and keep it lit each night until Sunday night bedtime and then we would blow it out and save it for the next weekend. After we lit the candle on Friday night we find the most suitable show for the family to see. Each spring "The Wizard of Oz" would come on and it was so fresh each time we watched it. I will never forget the year we got coloured T.V. (1968) and when Dorothy opened the door and walked into the garden it was so beautiful as the screen turned to beautiful colours. We gasped.
I have always loved Judy Garland's version of the song. It is so melancholy and yet so hopeful.
At school we put on the "Wizard" play and my choir loved all the songs but the audiences particularly loved the children singing "Over the Rainbow".
When Katherine McFee sang it on American Idol I cried.
At this point in my life "Over the Rainbow" means heaven. We will meet again all the loved ones we have lost. All are dear pets will be there. No one will suffer any more. I think I will watch that movie tonight. Thanks Zona for sharing.
grandma moses - I forgot to say "Congrats on first". I guess most of us have the same memories of watching the "Wizard of Oz" with our kids and grandkids.
VIG - I hope you have a good day today. Sorry I didn't write last night. Today will be a better day for me I think
Good morning iteach....got my cards yesterday.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Glories to you Lynn!
My mother had those beautiful flowers out our kitchen window, and would say that to us each day. I love sweet memories. Thank you.
Morning Mek, Are you staying busy?
Zona - I forgot to tell you - Job well done - beautiful blog!!
ReplyDeleteLynn D - I wanted to say I am sorry I did not write what a great post you wrote yesterday. I had little notes here to thank you and to say you think like a comedian. The likes of Seinfeld and Letterman are always looking at a situation and seeing the "mmmmm" side of it. When I checked later I noticed I had left that part off of my post. I never did get to think of an
ReplyDelete"mmm" story of my own. You did a great job.
Ronnie - I will be "getting busy" right after George CLooney's interview on the today show!!
ReplyDeleteThen I'll be shutting down for the day!! Real World awaits!! :-)
Rainbow story - when Mr. MEK and I flew to San Diego earlier this year - it was really storming out and we actually flew OVER a rainbow - i was SO taken back from the moment that I forgot to take pictures of it!! it was glorious!!
My Over The Rainbow Moment has been stated about pease and to have no suffering....but my most true moment is about me, and I hope you all understand. I have had some very difficult and emotional times in my life, as a lot of you, and my moment is all about my peace. I have come so far with so many things, and though I'm not 100% back, life is sweet to give me moments of beautiful thoughts and forgiveness. My heart and soul are at peace on most days.
ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to get too 'deep' on you.
Mek....you are so funny. You're just going to be a busy bee today.
ReplyDeletexo
Thanks for the happy blog today Zona! I love The Wizard Of Oz! One of my all time fav movies. I was the same way growing up. I waited every year for that movie to come on TV. That one, The Ten Commandments (which I watched all of this past weekend since I was disappointed that it was not on Easter Sunday)Gone With The Wind and The Sound Of Music. I love those movies. They make me feel all warm and cozzy! Ok....why does cozzy look spelled wrong? Well I can't figure out how to spell it so it stays! LOL!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st today GM!
Crap.....was it just_lin who had the QOTD? Well congrats to whoever had it!
Was that a Hmmmmm moment? lol
ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to stop the blog....
xoxo
MEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIT WAS NOT A DREAM! IT WAS REAL! OZ REALLY DOES EXIST! IT DOES! I KNOW IT DOES! I'M TELLING SANTA AND THE EASTER BUNNY ON YOU! I'M GONNA TELL THE TOOTH FAIRY TOO! YOU JUST WAIT YOUNG LADY! YOU. JUST. WAIT.
I should pass along this little bit of Family Trivia!
ReplyDeleteMy hubbies grandfather was involved in the making of The Wizard Of Oz! He was in charge of all of the live plants used in the movie! LOL! It was a huge task I guess. So anywhere in the movie that there are live plants, trees, flowers etc, he was the one who picked them out and placed them as props! YAY! LOL!
Iteach - I just checked out Dianne's "Wizard of Oz" page. It is fantastic. I will go back later and listen to all of the songs.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Mek - I just checked out your page too. That is a new version of the song to me but very enjoyable. I can't believe you have never seen the movie all the way through. I have seen it over 50 times and I will see it again tonight.
Good Morning Ronniegirl - Thanks for the well wishes. I am so enjoying everyone's posts. I am wishing you health and peace too.
Thank you, Tink. All is good, I just opened my heart up a little this morning.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day.
xoxo
Barbara - That is neat that you have a real connection to the movie. I believe Oz is real too. I still also firmly believe in Santa Clause. At my age no-one is going to convince me any differently.
ReplyDeleteYou only need one 'z' in cozy but it looks cozier with two.
Ronniegirl - This seems to be a safe place to open one's heart. Everyone here gives support.
ReplyDeleteI am off to answer messages. I owe my cyber daughter a long letter from yesterday. I couldn't seem to hit any of the right keys so I gave up. I am coming ZBaby. I may eat breakfast first however.
ReplyDeleteBarb in WA - I think you are yelling at me!! LOL
ReplyDeleteTinka - I heard that version of the song many years ago while watching ER - in the episode where Dr. Mark Green dies - he is listening to it on his headphones - VERY sad episode - and I LOVED the version -
Ronnie - glad I can make you laugh - I'm not real sure "what" was so funny - but you have brought a smile to my face!!
cpgem - glad to hear it was internet problems - I was wondering what happened to you!!
Good morning to EVERYONE!!
NOW - seriously - the loft awaits!!
Good Morning Owls! I know what is over the rainbow for me... a new laptop computer!! Mine crashed...hard...yesterday morning. That really stinks because I usually use my laptop for my work. UGH! Anywho, at least I have my kids PC's (though I am not crazy about sitting in the playroom!)
ReplyDeleteOff to get a bagel... back later to see what everyone is up to.
THANKS to Barb on WA for sending me the link to the nest. I lost everything in the crash, except my friends!
Can I just add...those flying monkeys still scare the crap out of me!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tink! I knew it looked wrong but I could not for the life of me figure out the correct spelling! I hate when that happens!
ReplyDeleteMEK....I was totally YELLING at you! LMAO!!!
Tinka thank you for your kind words. They made me teary eyed this morning.
ReplyDeleteSeems that Barbs post from yesterday about the little boy and Mary's news has me that way too.
I don't know if I am just tired from doing to much or if my hormones are out of whack again but I am feeling all my emotions today.
I will be back later when I pull myself up. (((Hugs))) everyone!
Hi Owls! Am I still welcome here? It's been so long since I've posted, but truely my life has been crazy, and it's not getting better!!
ReplyDeleteZona--great post, I love the Wizard of Oz! My oldest daughter was scared of the flying monkeys, she used to think they would come and get her, but we all always sat down and watched the movie every year when it came on, and now she's no longer afraid of the monkeys. I hope not, she just turned 21 yesterday, YIKES!!
I've missed all of you, I hope I can get here more often to post, but hardly have time for anything any more!!
Have a great day!
Zona Baby, One of my most favorite songs! I fact, I have two ringtones on my cell. Over the Rainbow and Imagine! Could anyone think of two more wonderful songs??
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe a JBJ song wouldn't hurt.
But, back to the subject at hand.
My favorite rendition of Over The Rainbow, is by IZ, the very famous Hawaiin singer. It is so beautiful and soothing. I play it whenever I am down.
What would I like to find "over My Rainbow"? Oh, so very many things. Health mostly for My Laurie. Peace on earth of course, happiness and love for all my friends and family. And a little more money each month wouldn't hurt! LOL
We do make our own Rainbows, I believe. I am now going through tough times, emotionally, as I brought up previously.
I am going to try very hard to be happy with myself no matter how many mistakes I have made in the past. I am going to try to make the future a better and brighter one for myself and my family.
These are goals I am setting. Hopefully they are reachable. I do not want to make unreasonable goals that I could never acheive. That would defeat the purpose.
This brings up Shirley's post today. Shirley, honey, you are going to have days like this. And its OK to have them. You just can't let them overtake you. Go with your feelings today. Look at what you have already accomplished today.
1. You got up out of bed!
2. You turned to your friends here at the Nest!
3. Maybe you even went outside to breathe in that wonderful Nova Scotia air. If not, do it!
4. And, to top it off, you made breakfast for all of us!!!
You are a treasure and we all love and care for you, never forget that.
And Ronniegirl, I am so glad to hear that your heart and soul are at peace most of the time! That is terrific. That's all we can hope for.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday, and that all your wishes upon a star come true!
Peace and Love, DonnaJean
Good morning, owlettes.
ReplyDeletegrandma moses Congrats on being first in the nest today.
Zona Beautiful blog. Thank you.
Shirley We have to have the down days in order to appreciate the up days. (((HUGS)))
DonnaJean Waving a wing at you, Girlfriend.
VIG I love your post today. Beautifully written.
ronnie We not only survive, we triumph!
Okay, for right now, my "over the rainbow" is to find love and be loved again. At this stage of my life, that would be such a blessing. I think I'm on the Yellow Brick Road. :)
lil o me- you are so welcomed here!!!
ReplyDeletelil o me I forgot to say "Hi". It's nice to see you stop by.
ReplyDeleteTo all the owls who came after me ~ Carol, Tinkatia, shirley (how wonderful - an emotional pms mess and still serving breakfast), Lynn D, ronnie girl, mek, barb in wa, glynis (my sister is still afraid of the monkeys and she is 52 lol), iteach and DonnaJean Good Morning! I enjoyed reading each and every comment!
ReplyDeletejust lin, good morning to you too!! I missed you in the list ~ forgive me.
ReplyDeleteI'm an animal lover and I think those monkeys are the creepiest things ever!
ReplyDelete**pounces** HI KIM!!!! Happy to see you!
ReplyDeleteBarbara You got 50! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteLOL at Barb **Pouncing**--was it to say HI KIM, or to be # 50??? LOL!!
I want to thank you for your kind words. And Donna Jean, you're so right that, that's about all we can hope for.
ReplyDeleteWell, here I go again...opening -up. I was in a very serious accident a few years ago that caused a lot of memory loss, stuttering, etc. (brain damage, along with spinal injuries that caused , and still does, a lot of pain. With the Grace of God, a lot of therapy, and a lot of praying, I'm pretty much back. For the first time in a year I'm able to go out into public without a brace. Oh, how I feel the freedom from the stares. I never complain about the pain to ANYONE, but on occasion it's still pretty bad. I just deal with it through medication.
As you all know, I just came back from a fishing trip, and that was really a big, big deal for me to find out that I could, once again, get on a boat and not loose my equilibrium, or 'zone out', due to the rocking motion. God does know how I so love the water and gave me the opportunity to enjoy it once more. I am so at peace and grateful for all of His gifts to me. Even if it hadn't of worked to my liking, I was still given the opportunity to be at the water's edge.
Dramatic? Probably! But I'm in a mellow mood every sine I got home.
Sorry....(I'm just grateful)!
So you see, all is right with the world and I love to laugh. I've worked very hard to have come this far, but I didn't do it alone.
xo
Sooooo, there's my rainbow in the form of a bait bucket.
ReplyDeleteLaugh ..... damnit!
ZonaBaby - Thank you for the phone call. It was great talking to you in person. I could get addicted to that. The computer pales in comparison.
ReplyDeleteGlynis - Wishing you a new computer.
Lil-ole-me - Welcome back. Please post more often. I miss you.
Donna Jean - I love that song too. I also wish for good health for Laurie. I loved your post. You are always so kind and inclusive. Check your e-mail.
Just-Lin - Good morning to you.
Ronnie - You have come a long way. I had no idea of any of this from your previous posts. What a fantastic, positive attitude you have.
Ronniegirl: Good for you! And thank goodness you were young enough when it happened that your mind and body have been able to heal, and give you back the things you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteZona: Over my rainbow lies a place where all forms of fear and prejudice have been overcome, a place where middle-aged grandmothers in Winnipeg watch the Munchkins with feelings of lust and longing, rather than revulsion and rejection.
I feel like Dorothy, Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!!!
ReplyDeleteGrandma Moses, I am so sorry that I did not thank you for the lovely comment you made to me this morning. It meant a lot! And, Congratulations for being #1!!! YAY!!
~~Just_Lin~~ Waving right back at ya, girlfriend!
~~Tinka~~ Good Late Morning to you! I am off now to check that email! Have a great afternoon!
~~Roniegirl~~ I am glad you got my comment. You are a wonderful person! (((HUGS)))
I am off to run a few errands, so will check back in with you all later this afternoon. Stay out of trouble, OK? LOL
Peace, DonnaJean
Whab~ That middle-aged grandma in Winnipeg has a lot of reason for fearing the munchkins... especially those with wheels!
ReplyDeleteHi Owlettes!
ReplyDeleteI just dropped in to say I am alive. I came back to work today- still feel crappy, but life goes on.
My internet is down at home (totally) after slowing driving me crazy, so waiting for a new wireless router to arrive from my provider. So doesnt' look like I will be on the next few days.
Just wanted to say hi- thanks for the get well wishes and I'll be back soon (I hope!)
Goldie I'm sorry. I guess I didn't know you were sick. Glad you're starting to feel better. I have a little bit of a cold, myself, but no big deal. Take care of yourself.

Hi everyone..thanks for all the nice words and comments about the blog. Subject it close to my heart.
ReplyDeleteGRANDMA MOSES: Congrats on #1!! I don't think I've missed watching TWOfO on Tv since I was 6. Mr. Z bought me every edition as it came out on DVD. The song always stops me in my tracks though.
EBJ: Your post makes me think of another favorite song "What a Wonderful World".
VIG: Perfect. I love what you wrote. You look for Johnny Depp and chocolate cheesecake, I'll search out Hugh Grant and cherry cheesecake. Then we'll sit back and listen to the laughter and see the joy in the place we've found.
CPGEM: Over the Rainbow...where there's Happy Blue in abundance..thank you for giving me a chance to write this.
TINKA: Loved talking to you mom! You are such an incredibly sweet person.
I loved when Dorothy opened the door to the colorful Oz too. But the feet shriveling up under the house...eeek!
SHIRLEY: You WILL have rainbow moments, I believe this will all my heart.
ITEACH: Dianne's page it magical. I have set up a cot there. Did you see it? ;)

ReplyDeleteVery good friends of mine, and have been for many years. I knew Thomas when he was "Tracy". They have been together for a long time. They announced the baby to me three months back. We have been in pride parades together, they did alot of community work here in regards to benefits and laws. I hope that todays episode will educate.

ReplyDeleteRonnie - thank you for sharing..
Goldie - I am glad that you are feeling a little bit better.
lilome - is back in the house - I've missed you!! welcome back..
Why is it that when you try to clean something up - you end up making a bigger mess!! Kinda makes you go hmmmmmmmmm....
MEK: What was that woman's name on the bike? Elmira Gulch? Not sure about that..I still cover my eyes at that part--and when she flies past the window in the tornado..creepy. Just the music that accompanies her freaks me out!
ReplyDeleteI love standing outside right after a monsoon rain and looking at the double rainbows. But to fly over one, that would be so special.
BARB: LOL at there is an Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. What an interesting bit of info about your hubbies grandfather...dare I say "Cool"? ;)
RGIRL: Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I am glad you can see some happiness in your days now.
GLYNIS: A new computer is often a very good thing to wish for! I was afraid of the monkey's too.
LOM: I'm STILL afraid of a lot of things in the movie and I'm almost 50!
DJEAN: I'll have to check out the version of Over the Rainbow you like. Hope things go smoothly from here on out with you and Laurie Elizabeth.
J/LIN: I really do think you found your Over the Rainbow. I'm so happy for you!
GOLDIE: I hope you feel better soon. Sorry you are having such internet problems.
JOEY: LOL at being a fan of Dorothy. I forgot all about that saying!
Thanks again everyone for the kind words.
Just an FYI: If you click on the YouTube link for the Judy Garland version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow at the top of the blog, the next version showing on YouTube is the one that MEK has on her page. It's very good also.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Zona-Forgot to say that! lol
ReplyDeleteHere's a badge for y'all!

FRIENDS OF DOROTHY SOCIETY
Thanks JOEY!
ReplyDeletewhere is everyone?
ReplyDeleteNice blog today Zona, and thanks for the earlier e-mail.
An aloha shout out to Tink!!
Where is SacBarb? She must not have found an cyber cafe....maybe she will on Kauai?
I just finished watching Oprah and Thomas and Nancy are a very loving couple. It would be wonderful if all little babies that come into this world would have such great parents. I'm so pleased that even through all the adversities that this man has gone through, he is finally enjoying life.
ReplyDeleteThanks, K-girl, for telling us about the show...I can see why you think so much of this couple. Oh, and Nancy's two daughters speak volumes of how well they were raised.
thanks ronniegirl!
ReplyDeleteI have been getting emails all morning, all positive ones. It warms my heart that such a diverse group of people that I have around me is so supportive.
So a group "Mahalo Nui" to all of you hooters. And let me just say this....there is probably a couple of you that may not understand, agree, or approve. That is ok, I respect your opinions as well.
Mahalo nui again to all of you~
Damn you Bear! Now my "secret" revulsion of that beloved classic is out in the open. Sorry, folks - I have never been able to watch that movie past the point where the house lands and the black and white turns to colour. It has something to do with the "Lollipop Gang". It's a bias, I admit, but many years of therapy has done nothing to relieve me of my fear of the "little people". So sorry Bear - but I'm afraid I have to burst your little rainbow bubble (and I SO owe you one!)
ReplyDeleteZona - I am going to watch the movie tonight. I will tell you tomorrow what her name was. As I said before, loved talking to you today. I am up from my nap and thinking about walking the dogs. I haven't got any farther than thinking about it yet.
ReplyDeleteCGIRL: Thank you! I have to admit BEAR's post had me wondering.
ReplyDeleteTINKA: Please let me know, I tried to Google it and couldn't find it anywhere. I could have put the movie on...but then I'd have to watch that scene! Love you!
KGRL: Thank YOU :)
TINA: THREE WINDOWS!!! And MUSIC! :) thank you!!
DIANNE: Yoooo-hooooo....??
DIANNE: Guess that should have been youuuuu--whooooo... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah - thanks for defending me G - yes, the ones with wheels are the worst!!!
ReplyDeleteCG~ I would defend you any day of the week!
ReplyDeleteGRANDMA MOSES - Congrats on first!!!
ReplyDeleteZONA!!!!!! I love your blog. As always......you are a gifted writer. Thanks so much for sharing that with us. I LOVE WOO - and especially the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"!!! Keep reaching for the stars.....and Hugh in a thong!!!
MEK - ER is one of my all-time favorite shows. I especially loved Dr. Mark Greene.....and remember that espisode and that rendition of the song. I could cry just thinking about it.
TURTLE - Your friends are amazing - and Oprah did a fantastic job!!! I was especially impressed with Nancy's daughters.....a tribute to what great parent that Thomas and Nancy are. That baby is truly blessed. And also a blessing....thank you for sharing their story with me.
From DIA: Hi, Dianne, again!
ReplyDeleteZona: Sorry to confuse you over an "in-joke"! Remind me to send you a photo that the evil Dr Dan constructed...
Glynis and CG: I guess I'm not only a friend of Dorothy (LOL@Joey!), but also the "wicked witch of the nest" ROFLMAO!
As for my own feelings about "Over the Rainbow": that song has always tugged at my heartstrings, because Judy's own life seems so tragic when juxtaposition. Even as a mere 11 year old, back in June of 1969, I was surprisingly wrecked when I heard she had died.
I guess my "friend of Dorothy" genes were firmly in place, after all!
K-girl: Someone just posted over on the Rossblog about seeing your friends on Oprah today! ;)
OK, owls... over and out. My flight is leaving soon...
Ooopsies! Flight Delayed! :(
ReplyDeleteWaving a wing @ WHABBY!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks G ;)
ReplyDeleteHello everyone! Day, Evening, Night, wherever you are, may you be having a Rainbow Day!
ReplyDelete~~Tinka~~ Thank you so much for the emails today. The pictures of you and your family are beautiful! I will be sending you a personal email, (with some of my family pics) real soon!
~~Zona~~ I kind of feel like I am encroaching on Turtle's territory a bit. The title of the CD I have is "IZ, ALONE IN IZ WORLD" by Israel Kamakawiwo'le.
Turtle can tell you much more about this amazing singer than I could. His music and his idealism was particularly moving. Unfortunately, he died way before his time.
The particular CD I have has so many beautiful songs on it. Some in English, some in Hawaiian, and some in-between. All are so fantastic that you really need to go out and buy this CD, or download a few from ITunes if you do that. Personally, I have no IPod!
Oprah started here about a half hour ago, and I am DVR'ing it so I can take my time and watch it thoroughly. I can not wait.
I did not realize that these are Turtle's friends. This will make the story much more personal to me.
I must have missed the post when Turtle told about knowing this couple. Or maybe she only posted it on MySpace. So, I missed it.
I am feeling the need for a bit of a nap, before Laurie comes home from being with her friend Laine and their Respite worker. Thursdays and some weekends they all go out and do "girlie" things, or just get Starbucks and walk around the Mall. This gives me a few extra hours to relax.
Till later my lovely Owls and Owlettes,
Peace and Love, and true acceptance and understanding of each other!
DonnaJean
CG - I can't believe Whabby "outted" you like that!!
ReplyDeletelet's get him!!! she says in her most evil wicked witch of the west laugh!!
Whabby is stuck in Denver!!
ReplyDeleteDJ - K'girl posted about her friends at the end of yesterday's blog comments.
ReplyDeleteG - hope you get a new computer soon.

ReplyDeleteJodi - I LOVE Dr. Greene also and can see that episode in my head
ReplyDeleteOH CRAP - I guess I was not alone!! LOL
ReplyDeletesorry MEK, just ran instead of marching...lol. I even did it naked! No armour or helmet!~
ReplyDeleteLOL - K'girl - I was trying SO hard to do a quiet march -
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you!!!
OH NO - a naked march!! I hope you didn't hurt anything..
ReplyDeleteI missed Oprah -
ReplyDeleteI was a good person and took in a runaway puppy this afternoon - long story - wind was really bad - I was getting the trash bin in from blowing away and here came this beautiful malamute husky - had a collar and a tag, so I knew the wind had to have opened it's gate... but - no address - SO, I put the dog in the back yard - put my dogs inside (my big guy does NOT like strange dogs) - called the number - got voicemail..
SO - I've been trying to keep the peace playing Doggy Day care since 2:30pm, sure put a stop on my plan for the day - oh well...
I would hope that if someone saw my dogs they would do the same thing..
The owner came and got there dog a few minutes ago- she copped an attitude at first, like I had TAKEN her dog - that pissed me off - put she did calm down - I think she was just upset that it "she had to go to work" and realized the dog was not in the backyard...... (that was NOT MY fault -) - anyway - the dog is back with it's owner and everything is back to normal at my house!!!
THEIR dog - yes, Joey, I know I made a mistake!! I have a couple of other misspokes in there - but oh well!!!!!
ReplyDeletelol @ TURTLE marching.....oh, that's right, running naked to 100!!! I hope you were at least velcroed and/or duct taped!!! LOL!! :)~
ReplyDeleteMEK - Another things to make you go hmmmmmmmm.....moment!! At least you know you did the right thing.
Hi Everybody!!! I am finally getting on the computer and you know Zona I couldn't resist the blog for today!!! I do get lazy and read the posts everyday but I do it on my blackberry and I still haven't learned how to write a comment on it to post.
ReplyDeleteAs some of you know, myspace page (thanks to Tina) is Wizard of Oz. I love the movie and make everyone watch it every time it is on. I have my "office" at home all WOZ items and always looking for more. My cell phone rings Over the Rainbow, so I guess I am obsessed with the whole thing. Your blog is gret ZONA. You are sure a great writer. VIG: I love your description of Over the Rainbow...sounds like heaven to me!
I have enjoyed reading all the blogs and posts this last week. We had a good time in Texas and a lot of laughs but it is too hot for me. I was glad to come back to snow and 32 degrees. We did have a nice cool day to go to Galvastan for the day and sit and tip a few by the ocean. Ronnie, I am so sorry we missed each other. I was thinking about you too!
BEAR: It's really not hard to confuse me even if I'm IN on the joke! ;)
ReplyDeleteMEK: I think you did a really nice thing, saving that woman's dog..cuz that's really what you did. You saved it from possibly being hurt. She was probably embarrassed.
DJEAN: I am definately going to get the CD. I know this will come as a shock..but I don't have an IPOD. ;)
KGRL: Congrats on 100!
JODI: ..or not in one...;)
SWAK! Just because.
WHABBY: Why do you just hang out at DIA? I was there Sunday night so we just missed each other. Next time you need to stay over so we can have dinner again. Hope you got out as it has been snowing off and on all day today although, the sun is now trying to come out!
ReplyDeleteWell MEK, tomorrow is opening day here for the Rockies and the city is getting all excited. The store has purple cake, etc. The bars are gearing up for a good day and hopefully, the snow will pass. They are saying a nice day for tomorrow. So....batter up...
ReplyDeleteI wanted to comment on Idol too...I was glad the person that was voted off was the one but why is it still always so sad when they show their tape and they sing. I get all choked up like I was watching Miss America or something!!!
DIANNE: I tried to smoke you out the other day by saying the sunset and sunrise were purple and orange in AZ...but it didn't work. I'm glad to see you today!
ReplyDeleteI have all kinds of WIzard of Oz things too.
Turtle I only caught the last half of the Oprah show but I was very impressed with Nancy and Thomas. Really a great couple and Nancy's daughters are loving and beautiful. I think that baby is very lucky to be coming into such a loving family.
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean - You are welcome. I am looking forward to seeing your pictures too.
ReplyDeleteDianne - Welcome back. I have missed you.
Zona - My video of the movie is missing. I think I will buy the DVD this weekend. As soon as I know the mean old ladies name I will tell you.
Mek - That lady should have been giving you a reward rather than Attitude.
TINKA: Whenever you find out is fine. Make sure you get the widescreen version of the DVD! You'll be glad you did!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone - had to go eat dinner.
ReplyDeleteDianne back in Denver - PLAY BALL - gotta love the purple, black and silver!!! Sadly, i did not get to ONE spring training game - I could just kick myself - this being sick kept me from doing alot of things.!! good to have you back..
Zona, Jodi and Tinka - I want to believe that the owner was just upset cuz having to come to my house to get her dog made her late leaving for her job - I want to believe that she was truely grateful for what I did - SO, that is what I WILL believe - the husky wasn't even a year old - friendly, well behaved dog - I was just really taken aback by her attitude.
Jodi - you said it correctly - hmmmmmmmmm..
KGRL: SWAK! Thank you so much! :)
ReplyDeleteMek - You are being very kind regarding that lady. I admire your positive attitude.
ReplyDeleteZona - I think I will stop looking for the video and buy the widescreen DVD instead. I will get it on the weekend. Thanks for the fun today. It's 6:30 and I think I am going to call it a day. Have a great evening everyone.
Love, Tinka
MEK: So...did the woman pick up the puppy and put it in her bicycle basket and ride away?? ;)
ReplyDeleteWell it seems I have internet service, I did not have to call verizon, however I am guessing it can go out at any minute...
ReplyDeleteSo if I am here one minute and gone the next you will know why!
g'nite Tink!! Hug the furbabies for me.
ReplyDeleteNIGHT TINKA!! Thank you so much for all the nice things you said! I said it before but heck I could say it a hundred times more, you are just the sweetest lady and I love you! :)
ReplyDeletemek
ReplyDeleteWhat you did was commendable! Forgot about her poor attitude, you did the right thing and that is all that matters!
turtle
I did not see Oprah, however I read your comment. I think it is great that they are having a child together. It seems from your description, the child will be loved! So, Kudos to them!
zona
Taking the dog in a basket..LOL..
ronnie
Thanks for sharing, and I am so glad you are able to get out and about. Sometimes we just need "time" ♥♥♥
lom
Glad you stopped by! Hope to see you again...
ZOna - LOL - can hear the music now, but NO, she yelled at her kids to move away from the SUV's door so that she could get the dog inside..
ReplyDeleteTinka - thank you - hugs and kisses to you!!!
cpgem - I am so happy that you have internet again..
Idol Extra comes on the reality channel at 7 - I'm going to watch.
OH and on Access Hollywood, the music director guy from Idol that plays the piano for them - says his top three are Carly, LIttle David and Big David- said that Big David should win the whole thing - that he brings something new every week -
K'GIRL~~Thomas and Nancy are a BEAUTIFUL COUPLE!!! An hour after watching Oprah I'm still at a loss for words (surprise, huh?) to articulate how touched I am by their story. I wouldn't know where to begin. I couldn't help wondering how many people would find their love story unacceptable....and thinking they must be the same kind of people who could operate the 'puppy mills' that are to be the subject of tomorrow's Oprah. THAT I will NOT be able to watch.
ReplyDeleteI can only say you are lucky to have Thomas and Nancy as friends and I am lucky to have them as 'neighbors'. I know the media frenzy will be intense, but I hope Oregon will treat them with the utmost respect they deserve. Amber and Jen, her adult daughters, are a testament to her as a mother. If only all children could be born into such a loving family.
Having just read the section on Body Awareness and Gender Identity in Eckhart Tolle's 'A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose', Thomas & Nancy's family love story struck me as the real-life definition of moving beyond our ego/self-image and society's expectations to become our best self.
Give them my love and best wishes for July's big event!
ZONA~~Already told you by mail how much I enjoyed your blog today, but kudos here as well. I'm kind of like Whabbear, in that I love Judy Garland's "Rainbow" but can't watch it without crying, knowing her life story.
For those who like IZ's version, I have it and a number of his songs on my playlist, so I know it's available for you there if you don't have iTunes or an iPod.
TGI(almost)F !!

ReplyDeleteMy over the rainbow, was to always have children, and get married, it was not to be...
So I have switched my over the rainbow, and wish my nephews to grow and prosper as they are my three hearts. And I am in hopes that when I grow old and can no longer take care of myself, they are there for me..
Carol: I think something is in the water..or all this rain, because I too had NO internet when I got on first time today! I talked with another person on another blog that had the same thing happen I did!
ReplyDeleteI also have verizon DSL!
It said my network card/adapter or something was bad! lol
WTH?! So it had an option to "repair" it and vista repaired it and poof I was online!
Not sure what's going on!
SO nice of you Mek to do that!:)
ROFLMAO@Zona about the basket and the lady!!
Donna Jean
ReplyDeleteGreat comment, your words to Shirley where terrific.
And yes, look to the future, don't look back. You can't change the past, however the future is boundless.
joey
ReplyDeleteOh my, mine keeps telling me a internet wire is unplugged...I have plugged and unplugged every plug I could possible find, and there are quite a few. Still to no avail I keep getting the pop up, and then at times it just kicks me off...
I wonder if it is a East Coast Problem?
I am heading over to myspace, I will be back in a bit...
ReplyDeleteCould be Carol...Mine actually did say unplugged thing at first, but it gave an option to "repair" when I went nosing around! lol
ReplyDeleteI opened the "network connection center" is how I did it I believe!
Wished I could be of more help!
lol@MEK!
ReplyDeleteI am giving "speller's amnesty" now!:)hehe
I am feeling generous;)
waves hello to joey~
ReplyDeletethanks for the idol spoilers.....lol
YEAH, Joey is giving us a free pass!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteCPGEM: I feel the same way about my nieces and nephews, since we don't have any children. I just don't think they have the same sense of family that Mr. Z and I do.
ReplyDeletezona
ReplyDeleteI just got your myspace msg..
So funny...I seems you have made it out. Did Laguna come out to, or is she/he still hiding..Actually I think its a she cause the name ends in a.
However who really cares, as long as she/he is loved...
Joey
ReplyDeleteI did the repair thing as well in my network connections. It tells me it has repaired the problem, but it did not. So hard to argue with a computer as it does not argue back, it just gives you aggravation...
mek
I have answered your myspace msg from last nite...
CPGEM: SHE is ADORED and right here! ;)
ReplyDeleteZona
ReplyDeleteI am thankful everyday for my nephews, as their sense of family is quite like mine. They are always there when I need them, and visit my parents often.
The other day, I needed something heavy carried upstairs, I called the eldest to help and within a hr, two of them came to help. The youngest is away at college, I am sure if he was around he would have came to...
Thank Goodness for them! And they have a amazing mother!
Zona
ReplyDeleteThen a SHE it is!
♥♥♥
CPGEM: My youngest first cousin is that way. He will come help me out with anything. And he sends the funniest emails...right TINA? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck did I miss...
ReplyDeleteTurtle was running naked to 100?
Did anyone take pictures?
Zona
ReplyDeleteWell then, You have that somebody!
That is all you need....
Carol:
ReplyDeleteFor a turtle I run pretty damn fast..... no pics we're taken, and that's a good thing...lmao
cpgem - Turtle ran past me SO fast that I didn't have time to grab the camera!!
ReplyDeleteHad to run fast I knew MEK was waiting in the wings.....pun intended

ReplyDeleteHello everyone. Sorry I have been MIA again. I have been dealing with the loss of a very close family friend (he was a brother to me). He died from a diabetic coma along with other health problems. His family adopted me as their family. (Actually his sister and I grew up together and I was immediately "adopted" by their family). Their parents always introduced me as their "adopted daughter" as I was with them EVERYWHERE...from the grocery store, church and even on family vacations. I became (and still am) part of a very large family. He was the oldest and was only 50 years old.
ReplyDeleteI will be gone most of tomorrow (as I will be on a field trip with my daughter and then visiting my adopted family)!
I am going to end my day by watching my "man", David Beckham (drool....) playing soccer with the LA Galaxy.
My end of the rainbow would have my Polish man who took my heart with him when he moved back to Poland. (He is the one who got me into watching soccer). He looks a bit like David Beckham.....sigh....
Night everyone!
HUGS!!!
mek
ReplyDeleteIs a sneaky little devil when it
comes to marching! You never know when she will appear!
LOL Zona! You rock! That was funny asking if MEK's nasty neighbor put the puppy in her bike basket. HAHAHAHA! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteMEK....You were a very good neighbor to help her with her puppy.
Reminds me of a call I got at work yesterday. A woman called a little frazzled and said that her neighbors have their house for sale with our company and wanted to know if we had a way to get a hold of them because their little weiner dog was out of the fenced backyard and running around and she could not catch it. She was worried that the little guy was going to get hurt. I told her I would take care of it. So I figured out which agent had the listing and called him and asked if he knew how to get a hold of them. He did, and he called them. Poor little thing. Everything worked out fine.
cpgem - I was not the one that swoped in on an innocent marcher this time - turtle just flat out ran over me!!! LOL
ReplyDeletemaybe we need to install a photo finish camera for these marches!! LOL!!!
Jennifer - hugs to you!!
Barb in WA - we animal lovers stick together
Bono - i won't be able to watch Oprah tomorrow either!!
Bono - thank you SO much for my special picture of the puppy!!! that puppy has excellent taste!!
ReplyDeleteok so if I flat out ran over you MEK, then you we're doin the hokey pokey....leavin your left foot in, cause turtles dont move that FAST!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteok I am leaving the office, and usually by the time I get home and sign back in some of you have gone to bed. So goodnight to those I will miss, and hello to those I will banter with in the coming hours!
I think Zona's comments about the lady putting the dog in the basket should be QOTD tomorrow. Funny as hell!! Best chuckle I've had all day. Good-night everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am off to bed!
ReplyDeleteHope everyone enjoys the rest of today!
Sweet dreams to all :O)
Sweet Dreams to All My Feathered Friends!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you make a "Rainbow Day" for yourself, or your friends and family?
If not remember, from the musical "Annie" there is always "Tomorrow"!!! It's only a day away!
Turtle, I'll be up for a little bit more. Not for too long though, it's been a long day, even with Laurie having a Respite day. But I am here if you need an Owl to Hoot at!

Well....it's official...I am a night owl. I need to show some of my friends because they just don't understand my schedule.
ReplyDeleteAny comments on Survivor tonight? I still don't have a favorite this time around. I do know a couple that I don't like much.
Correct me if I am wrong...but was there a "naked turtle" running around here earlier?
Joey, darlin, I am SO NOT a Night Type! Although I do wake up in the morning, many of the comments pertain to me!! LOL
ReplyDeleteAs I type this it is only 9:45 on the West Coast!
I used to be a Night Type, when I was in my teens!!!! Many many moons ago!
So, Goodnight to all, Sweet Dreams.
So sorry we didn't catch up Turtle tonight. My eyes are just too dreary, and I want to read a bit of a great novel I am in the middle of, and each time I go to read a chapter, guess what? Of course, I fall asleep!
Just_Lin~~ (((Hugs))) and lots of happy thughts to you for just everything!!!
Nght Night everyone, DonnaJean
