Water with Stones, Please

Water With Stones, Please

by just_lin

There is a cylindrical vase of water on my coffee table with river stones in the bottom of it. That's it, just water and stones. There used to be a floating candle in it but the cats kept squeezing their faces between the candle and the side of the vase and making the candle dirty and unattractive. They would drink the water until the candle was shipwrecked on the rocks. They thought it was very considerate of me to have put this "designer water" right there on the coffee table, only a short jump away from the sofa where they nap. I used to try to clean the candle but I finally gave up and threw the candle away.

The vase of water and stones remains, however, as the cats' favorite water dish, even though they have a real water dish in the kitchen. I keep the vase of water there for their convenience. Why do I do that? I wouldn't dream of having a cat dish there 24/7, but that's exactly what I'm doing.
Am I the only one who puts up with something in their house even though it really makes no sense?

  1. I loved the blog j/l. I got a great visual of your cats happily lapping up the water. I think it makes perfect sense to leave it there for them.

Have a great day everyone who comes on today. I am off to my Moms house (the one that is selling) and sort and pack and haul things home. She is moved but there is still stuff that needs to be gone through. Memories......

  2. Good Morning Glories!

    goldie got first!!!

goldie don't work to hard today!

    Great blog JustLin!

I know there is something that I do (actually several things) that I put up with and make no sense but I will have to think about it! Because by now they are habit and make sense to me. LMAO

I am such a dolt. I guess I have not watched much news this week and just realized yesterday that the Dalai Lama is in Seattle!! I am disappointed in myself because I would have paid to see him and even would have ventured on to the freeway!

Tho I don't know what the city of Seattle was thinking as they have the Dalai Lama conferences today, the Mariners are playing and a green festival at the convention center. Parking and traffic will be a nightmare! I tell you his Conference is Seeds of Compassion and boy the audience will need that and alot of patience to get home today.

Mo: Sending more (((Hugs))) and foot rubs your way!

Welcome home SacBarb.....What? No photos posted yet? Slacker!

JustLin~~Great story...and I can only imagine the 'true confessions' that will follow. I'll have to think about this over some caffeine!

  5. Good Morning Owls!

Just Lin: Cute story, and it's so typical of cats. :) I've given up on trying to convince my cat, Simba, that the silk plant basket on top of one of my kitchen cabinets wasn't meant to be a bed for him. LOL!

Goldie: Hi and congrats on 1st!

Waving Hi to: Lynn, IBB, and BonO!

    From yesterday's comments...

Tinka: Here's the link to that article:
Nighttime Computer Users May Lose Sleep

BonO: Just teasing you, because I have seen Breakdown. I had the name wrong yesterday, but The Vanishing is the movie where Sandra Bullock and Kiefer Sutherland stop at a service station, and she's kidnapped by Jeff Bridges.

    Happy Saturday, Owls!

  7. Good morning

Great blog j/l and that's really nice of you to not make you cats walk 'all that way' to the kitchen.
    Too cute.

Welcome home SacBarb, sounds like you had a great time.

I think I need to think about the TOTD..but I'm sure I probably do a lot of things in my house that make no sense. Actually, maybe they just make no sense to anyone else, but me. lol

Good morning to you, lynnD, ibb, bon'o, Amicus, and Tink.

  8. Read yesterdays comments.

Welcome Home Sacbarb!!! Sounds like you and Sharon had a great time!

JustLin: Glad I made you laugh at my expense yesterday! LOL

Bono: You were aware of the Dalai Lama being here but not me! LMAO Clueless in Rainier.

Ok the only thing I can think of right now is that I only let one dog get on the couch. I know that seems terrible but it is Seamus and I think it is from when he was a puppy and I had to sleep on the couch with him so I would wake up to let him out in the middle of the night.

The other dogs don't seem to care as they have their own beds and nests.

This seems silly but I think having him on the couch next to me is more comforting for me than him. I relax more when he is next to me. I am not the only one who does this in our house. Mr. Lynn D does it too! LMAO

Hi IBB, Tinka, Bon, and Amicus!

Waving at any who land after I post!

  9. Good morning everyone!

My husband and I are total nerds and we are also forgetful.

We have lists everywhere in the house.

Next to one of our outside doors Dean has a list of everything he needs before he leaves to get on the airplane every week. Number five on the list is "kiss my wife goodbye".

  11. Oh, I have one.
Everyone knows I live in a big city, and of course we have very large teleohone books. Actually I get 2 yellow pages..3 inches thick, 2 white pages..3 inches, 1 Metro..2 inches thick, and 1"Neighborhood..3 inches thick. These are put on our doorsteps once a year and carried into our homes.

For years, I rotated them around, throwing the old ones away when I got my new ones, all the while looking up numbers and addresses on the computer. Made no sense to keep those books around, so this year I put them in the trash as they showed up on my doorstep.

    Know what...I haven't missed them.

    Congrats on 1st Goldie.

Ronnie I got your email thanks.

I don't know if this counts for TOTD but I have my spoons and forks neatly stacked in my drawer. I would stack the knives too but they won't stay. My friends think it's weird, but it make sense to me.
    Have a good day.

  14. Thanks for breakfast Shirley!

My husband is taking the oldest to the doctor right now. We think he has an ear infection.

Anywho, as soon as he gets back I will ask him about today's topic. He is always telling me that someone of things I do doesn't make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good morning Iteach and EBJ.

Ronnie I use to do that with the flyers. I would always keep them but I would also look them up on the computer. Made no sense. I have since stop getting them at my apartment.

  17. Good morning Shirley,

Lovely breakfast you prepared for us. Thank you!

I believe I'l have some toast and marmalade.

Shirley, I don't think stacking silverware is strange, I do it too.
When my children come over for dinner they always kid me about being OCD...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Your welcome Iteach. Ihope the ear infection isn't too bad.

    Sorry for the double post.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Shirley, you talk about flyers...they seem to fill my whole mailbox. Mostly they are from grocery stores, some of which I have no idea where they are located. I just hate that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. iteach, I hope your little one gets to feeling better.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ronnie I am only like that with certain things. If you were to walk into my apartment right now you would see a mess. But if you look into certain areas I have to have things a certain way.

    toothpaste always points one way
    towel fold always points outward
    cans, english side facing out

I could go on but I think you get the picture. Glad you liked breakfast...you can do the dishes. Lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ronnie I went to the post office and ask them not to put flyers or cataloges in my box. It took a few weeks but I don't get any now. Can you do that where you live?

    ReplyDelete
  23. lol I'd be happy to do the dishes!!

Well, it looks like the dance floor is empty, except you and me.
Do you think we put the wrong music on? LOL

  25. Well, I haven't showered yet. Could that have something to do with it? I'm listening to Cher right now. Who doesn't like Cher? Tinka should be here soon for breakfast. She likes her tea and toast with marmalade.

Well I'm off to answer a few emails, and be back later, maybe.

Shirley, I'm sending you something in a little while.

  27. Iteach--I think you have the sweetest husband...

    now TOTD...
well... I have hounds dogs.. have for years.. the nose on this animal is incredible.. and they are the most obnoxious eaters... she can eat a maet loaf the size of her and 5 minutes later act like she hasn't eaten in days...
    (if food is present)..
So anyway... she would always eat teh cat food before the cat could... so I can't have my Tuesday Kitty starving to death... so we had to make her a LOFT dinning area..
Took shelving and made her a crawl up the wall... three tiers up... she eats higher than my head... but she has to jump on the kitchen
    counter to get to it...
So that is just for the survival Tuesday .. My kitty..

  28. Just Lin - Great blog today. My house is set up for my animals. Besides a six foot fence with 3 padlocked gates I have baby gates at every door that leads out front or down steep flights of stairs. I think neighbours think I do it for my grand children but it's because I don't want my 'fur-babies' to accidentally run into the street. I keep anything my dogs might want out of the reach of my cat Teddy. He loves to get up on a high shelf and knock treats off for the dogs waiting below. I didn't notice this until Tango started to put on weight even though her food is carefully measured each day. It is fun watching the three of them thinking up new mischief to get into. They play so well together.
When company is not in the house I have covers on all chesterfields, chairs etc so that my pets are free to lie where ever they choose. I guess they run this house.

Goldie - Congrats on first. I don't envy your job today. We did the 'sorting game' when my mom went into Care. It was emotional. It will be more so when we have to do it for the last time. I dread that.

Lynn - I am glad I am not in Seattle today. Being held up in traffic has kept me from attending many downtown events.

Ibebold - You have a great day too. Don't work too hard. Weekends are for fun.

Bon O - Have a cup of coffee for me. I love the smell of it. The caffeine I can't handle.

    Amicus -Thanks for the link.

RonnieGirl - I get 5 phone books delivered each year too. I faithfully rotate them. I should tell the phone company that I don't need that many and perhaps I would save a tree. I never think of it until after they are delivered.

Lynn - My pets are allowed anywhere except the Living Room. I have to have one room for family members and friends who are allergic to cats.

Good Morning Iteach and East Bay J.

A special shout out to my pals, Zona and VIG. We never seem to be posting at the same time. I will write you as soon as I push 'post'.

  33. Waving like crazy to all!

Shirley and Ronnie read your posts about mail.

Our post office will deliver everything! I have asked if they will stop with the flyers but US postal regulations state they have to deliver anything that is postmarked! Period.

We the consumers have to go to the lists like ronnie did and request a name removal. ronnie I know people that have tried this several times and they still get junk mail.

What drives me crazy is all of the useless garbage that is sent in my bills! I have taken to sending it back to them when I make my payment. Let them figure out how to get rid of it. I know cranky bitch attitude but there you have it.

I teach: I am going to make Mr. Lynn D a list! But kissing me will be #1 LOL

GOldie - congrats on NUMBER ONE!! I don't envy you at all today -

JUST LIN - great blog - OH, where do I start!! I will have to really think about this.

Lynn - I can just see us ALL mailing back that junk stuff now with our payments- GREAT idea!!

SacBarb - WELCOME HOME!! sorry you had to put up with crying baby!!

Iteach - "I'll have a number 5" that is too cute!!

Shirley - I stack my forks and spoons - my mom did - I just thought that was normal!!

Good Morning, Goldie, Lynn, IBB, BONO, Amicus, Tinka, IBB, Ronnie, Shirley, EBJ, and cpgem!! and everyone else who isn't here yet.

    ITeach~~What are numbers 1 through 4?

Amicus~~Have I mentioned how great it is to see you here more often?

Shirley~~What? Doesn't everyone stack their forks and spoons...or is that my OCD showing?

Tinka~~Sounds like a fun-filled day for you. Enjoy!

  36. Well Bon'o I guess I'm not as abnormal as I thought. Lol!

    Good morning Mek.

  37. Bono - okay -spill it already!!!

AND, there is NO way I'm taking pictures!! LOL :-)

    ReplyDelete
  38. MEK: I can't take credit for the ingenious mailing back of junk. I read some where, I don't remember if it was on a blog or elsewhere, that someone does this and the light bulb went on!

It really irks me when all of the junk comes in the utility bills. The preach about conserving energy etc... and send me a small tree worth of junk!

I know some of you will say go paperless all together and pay by internet. Well I want my bill, the bill only, for a paper trail. I am paranoid. I can forsee a day when a company may notifiy you they have been hacked or their system went down and all of your info has been lost.

Ok maybe this is one of my makes no sense thingymabobs but there you have it! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lynn - we are the SAME way - I want my bill and I want to write a check to pay for it.. I don't need the whole world having access to my checking account - all that hacking stuff scares the crap out of me.. AND, I want the proof that I paid!!! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Congrats on 1st goldie!

ahhhhhh....just_lin, you have no idea. I was going to bed at night with a glass of ice water. I would drink while watching tv, and then fall asleep. If I woke up during the night and was thirsty, I had a glass of water sitting right there! After months of this I woke up one night to my kitty Cammy walking over me. She went over to the night stand, her butt in my face, and proceeded to drink out of my glass of water! WTF????? How long had she been doing that??? I was so grossed out. I kept bring water in, but never drank out of it again after falling asleep. But if we took the glass away, Cammy would stand there and look at us until we brought her a glass. So now we have 2 glasses of water on the night stand at all times for her to drink out of. She rarely drinks out of anything but a glass. Can we say "Princess"???

I'm going to enjoy our beautiful day!

    Have a great day!
    Barb

  41. I'm looking around my house - and I dream that some day it will be
"Model Home" ready - but with four animals and a husband - that just ain't happenin'!!!!

We have the dogs trained to only stay in the family room/kitchen area - and that has hardwood floors - after our Bailey slipped and dislocated a hip - we have had to put a million rugs down, so they have traction.. because our animals are SO spoiled - there are seven yes SEVEN dog beds laying around, which make it difficult for humans to walk anywhere!! The dogs are not allowed on the furniture, but I have throws on the couchs because the cats like to lay on the backs to look out the windows....... (I can't believe I am actually describing all this) -

Since our youngest cat will gulp down her food and take over the oldest cats dish - we have had to separate them while eating - our K.C. now eats her meal on the coffee table so that the other cat AND the dogs will leave her alone so that she won't starve to death.

OH - the things we do for our animals..

and then, there is my craft area, but I won't even go there today!! One confession is enough!!!

  42. WARNING: Those who prefer one-liner posts may want to skip this one..... :o)

The photo to the right, taken quickly this a.m., is of my small bath off the central hallway. Its Adirondack Fishing Lodge decor has long outlived its purpose, but I can't part with it! It brings me smiles every day.

When daughter and family were returning stateside from Germany, the girls stayed with me for a few months 'til Army hubby could return. Granddaughter was potty training at the time. I decided to create a fun place to 'hang out' for this adventure. Since I love lodge look decor, I decided to really play with this little space. It is home to a fishing pole, fishing creel containers, wooden fish art, and surrounded with vines of grape ivy (Thanks, MEKals!).

Many happy hours were spent sitting on the commode reading to granddaughter on her potty-chair next to the shower curtain. Her vocabulary increased dramatically as we played "Find the moose", "Where's the snowshoe?" How many ducks do you see?", "Is there a book by a chair somewhere?" She loved finding all these items on the shower curtain, while 'going about her business' and taking turns making all the noises from the Jungle Book with buttons to push making all the sounds. (I'll match my flapping-an-arm-in-the-air in front of my nose while sounding like a trumpeting elephant with ANYBODY!) Those were some good times........

Granddaughter is now in 2nd grade and lives on the other side of the country, so this room really needs a Ty Pennington makeover. Just can't part with it yet. Maybe a good Summer project?

  45. Okay - I'm off to finish the few things I have left to do before company arrives !! OH MY - wonder what they will think of all these dog beds!!!

  46. Barbwa and MEK Your stories brought tears to my eyes, I was laughing so hard.

Shirley My forks and spoons are stacked, too. It doesn't make sense not to, IMHO.

BonO You made that bathroom fun. No wonder you want to keep it.

    Goldie Congrats on #1 today.

    SacBarb Welcome home!

I used to have an old Wedgewood stove. It was an antique, basically. The door to the oven was no longer attached but they were built like battleships in those days and repairmen could not get inside the walls of the oven to repair the hinge apparatus. I had to use a folded up matchbook cover crammed between the oven door and the opening for the door, in order to keep the door on and closed. When I opened the oven door, I would have to remove the matchbook cover, move a chair in front of the stove, open the door and lay it on the chair. This was all such a production but I didn't want to give up that stove. I finally did though and my new, modern one doesn't cook nearly as well as that old one did.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Okay - here's one more -

    about our decor -

Our house WAS the model home - therefore - we have TONS of upgrades, which is wonderful, but with that - came the dreaded decorated rooms and their wallpaper!!!

One of our rooms was the "nursery" and it has sheeps, moons and stars in the sky!! - WELL, I was going to take down that wallpaper and just paint - BUT - we discovered that the wallpaper was put directly on the drywall sheets and the walls were not "prepared" or textured - SO, needless to say - an "easy" job now became a major project!!! WELL, those sheep, moons and stars are STILL there and it's been almost four years..

we also have a nursery rhyme room with Jack and the Beanstock!! AAAGGGGHHHHH....... someday, when golf doesn't take first priority!! HA HA HA...

speaking of golf - the masters tournament has just been suspended for rain!!

Okay - this is it for my "house" confessions - don't want to reveal TOO much!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just Lin - just thinking about my house brings tear to MY eyes!! LOL

I'm picturing a matchbook cover keeping your oven door closed - would that be safe??!! must have been - I know how hard it is to part with something that you have had for SO long!!

Maybe that is why clutter happens!!
Does anyone have a solution for that??!!
    :-0

    ReplyDelete
  49. MEK It was only the cardboard from the matchbook, not the matches!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Speaking of clutter, I have alot of little items that should really go now but friends or family members gave them to me and it feels wrong to get rid of them. I am trying to streamline my life now so maybe I'll be able to let some of these things go to Goodwill and then to a new home.

  51. Happy Saturay, Owls!

J/L, I had to consult with Huz on this one. He said it was a no brainer. I live in a two bathroom condo, in a very old building (built in circa 1964) and the pipes are so clogged that I have no hot water in the bathroom with the bathtub.

I don't really care... the condo association is supposed to replace the pipes at some point in the future, and in the meantime I just use the shower in the other bathroom... but it drives Huz crazy.

In his view, having a bathroom with no hot water makes no sense! LOL!

OK, off to the beach... ;)

  52. Howdy Owls!!

    Goldie Congrats on 1st!!
    JL GREAT BLOG! Ty.

    SacBarb welcome home.
    Loved the stories today.Ty

I could write a book on this topic.

    My doggies run my house.

I tried to take back control when I bought a new soft black leather sofa set this past winter, but to no avail.
Now I just put nice comfy blankys on it so they have a warm place to nap.
They take over my bed...their food bowls are always full, so they can eat at their leisure.
Not to mention I spend $140.00 a month on their own special bathroom needs because they are indoor and outdoor trained.
Lacey refuses to piddle outside if it's raining.

They both have more in their wardrobe closet than I do.
Their professional groomer comes to the house every 8 weeks to give them their day at the spa..

Doorways inside have custom made gates that I hand painted...why?!? Well to protect them when strangers are at the door or course.

    SOMEONE SHOOT ME PLEASE........

  53. Happy Saturday everyone.

Goldie: Congrats on being the early bird.

Just_Lin: Great blog topic. I can't imagine that I do anything that doesn't make sense unless you consider using my pool table for crafts instead of pool. It really annoys me when I have to clean it up for someone who actually wants to play pool. Then there is the ironing board that is always up in the spare bedroom. I never iron, but I do use it to wrap gifts on. I think that's all I am going to admit to.

I want to thank everyone who sent me comments on myspace, and to all of you who warmly welcomed me back. I wanted to keep in touch better, but every place we went that had computers for public use charged $.45-$.50 per MINUTE and I just couldn't justify $25-$30 per hour. I think I am just going to have to get a lap top since I hope to be travelling more.

Have a great day everyone. I have to go to the gross-ry store (I just love that term) and pick up my mail at the post office. Be back later.

  54. Oh you owls are cracking me up!!!

BarbWa: What are a few germs between family members! ROFLMAO

JustLin: The stove!!! A little like putting cardboard under a table leg!

Bear: I agree with you! If they are going to replace the pipes soon why worry? LOL

Two more confessions from me and then that is it.

Every flat surface in the house is cluttered until it drives me crazy and then I clear it all. It started out as a way to teach as certain significant other (Mr. Lynn D) to quit piling things up. Well it worked I am now retrained to ignore it until said crazyness sets in! LOL

Sacbarb: reminded me of my other makes no sense quirk. MS comments. I go in every week to pick out a comment to leave for y'all and I get freaking obsessed. It has to be the perfect one and then I have to make sure I go through all of them incase I miss the perfect one. 5 minutes turns into an hour then I am so stressed out I give up! Then the guilt sets in which stresses me out more! By then I am too exhausted!

I try people I really try! I think about all of you everyday! You are my special friends and I appreciate you! Really I do.

I do include you all in my prayers daily and in my list of things I am grateful for!

    ReplyDelete
  55. My other quirk memory like a sieve!

I've been grooming for 12 years, and today is the first time I've had to send a dog to the vet for a cut. I caught the web of skin between the front leg and underarm with a clipper blade.

The owner, bless her heart, was so sweet and understanding. She hugged me while I cried, because I was more upset than she was.

I went to the vet with her, and Louie is going to be fine, but I feel like closing my business and finding a new career. It's a horrible feeling knowing I hurt Louie who is such a sweet, loving little dog. :(

    ReplyDelete
  58. Amicus (((hugs))) accidents happen!

You are obviously a caring groomer. You did not hide the accident you told the owner up front and went with Louie to the vet. I would not hesitate to have you as a groomer!!

    Please feel better!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh Amicus dear, I am so sorry for you. I can imagine how terrible you feel.

I am sure Louie's owner understands and feels for you too!

You do tremendous work on the little fur babies, you care so much for them, and your heart is so large, I am sure that this one mistake will be forgiven!

And don't even think about closing your business! You do too much good for all the pets that come to you.

I know this isn't comparable at all to what happened to you today, but a few years ago I was trimming Laurie's toenails, and I got way too close and cut one of her little toes with the clipper. It bled and bled. Laurie was freaking out, I was crying, etc. She won't let me come anywhere near her toes now! That is one of the reason I take her for pedicures.

Accidents happen. You did nothing on purpose. Please forgive yourself. Louie's owner has. Now you must also.

Love to you my sweet lady, DonnaJean

  60. LynnD~~Why Yes, as a matter of fact I can! :O)

Amicus~~Hugs to you, friend. I can imagine how you feel, but all I could think of reading your post was "where would we be if all the caring medical practitioners who ever had an 'oops' moment were to leave their practice, never to perform another 'routine' miracle? What a loss to (and probably OF) humanity. I bet if you shed a tear, Louie would be right there to lick it away, tail wagging all the while.

The riverbank is calling me....see you tonight.

p.s. Jodi~~ So I lied about the ocean today :o) ~~ We decided there'd be less traffic on a weekday. Don't need to be on the winding roads behind a string of motorhomes. Wouldn't want to miss the sunset.

  61. LynnD~~As long as today is about confessions, here's my MS confession.....I no longer send 'blanket' comments to all my friends. I, too, think of you ALL every day, but now only send individual comments that really jump out at me as applicable to THAT person on THAT day, except for the occasional holiday greeting. I just find it more meaningful. Contemplating not pushing 'publish' here, as I may never receive another comment....and I love 'em, one and all.

    ReplyDelete
  62. LynnD I happen to have cardboard under one of the dining room table legs! LMAO!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Amicus I'm so sorry that happened. That skin is so thin. I accidentally did that to an old cat once when I was removing a fur mat. I felt absolutely terrible. He forgave me immediately though as I'm sure Louie did.

  64. Ooooh, I got a 69 by accident. That's the first time those words ever crossed my lips! LOL

  65. Bon-

Here is your answer from earlier.

    1. cellphone
    2. laptop in car
    3. luggage in car

  66. My hubby says there is nothing ever lieing around, because I get rid of things too fast.

He can't throw anything away. He still has tshirts from high school. His bedroom at his mom's house looks like he still lives there. She doesn't get rid of anything either.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh, Amicus, I'm sorry that happened today.

Bless you for sitting with the owner at the vet's office. That in itself speaks volumes about you.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Amicus - Accidents happen!! Thank God for people who care the way you do!!!

Iteach - my mom kept my little brother's room JUST like it was when he was in high school - I called it "The Shrine"!! She moved from one house to another and set up his room - you know, in case he ever came home again...
:-) His wife was shocked when my mom shipped him 16 boxes of stuff from his room when she moved down here - I have NO idea what happened to all that stuff - but can you imagine!!

SacBarb - you know that I would just do crafts at your house!!

OK - you know the sleep blog from the other day - Mr. MEK JUST said - it's time for a nap, turned the reading light off and he is ASLEEP - that is just NOT right!! two seconds and he's snoring!! the nerve!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their beautiful days!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well I took the weedwacker to my winter legs and even put on a pair of capri pants it is so warm here today. It is beautiful outside!

Bono: You will receive many comments! Like you I am trying to find ones that apply to each owls personality.

    Justlin: LMAO on the cardboard!

Hi DonnaJean: I hope your counseling session went well!

MEK: What is it about men they can drop off into a nap at any given time. Mr. Lynn D just did that too! I tell him he can fall asleep faster then the dogs!

OK back outside to enjoy the sunshine while we have it!

  70. Just thought I'd drop-off a little afternoon snack so everyone can make it until dinner~~

    Sliced fresh pears and apples

    Wheel of Brie
    Wheel of baby swiss
    Assorted crackers

    Enjoy

  72. I just skimmed the comments as I have just awakened from my nap and must get ready for the party. I see Amicus is upset because she had a small accident with one of her 'babies'. I am so sorry Amicus. That could happen to anyone . Please don't dwell on it. Skin heals quickly. I will be thinking of you tonight.

Ronniegirl - I am just going to pick up some grapes and cheese. Thank you. I need a burst of energy. It may do the trick. I will check in tonight if I have time.

  74. Has anybody heard from Nowmercy lately? I miss her input on the blog.

    ReplyDelete
  75. OMG, just_lin your blog cracks me UP! How darn funny!! I was thinking that maybe if you added some rocks to their water dish maybe they would go and drink where they are supposed to? Hmmm... doubt it!

Yes, I put up with a lot around this house. The one thing that comes to mind is this (and I know you are going to give me a hard time about complaining!)

My husband, Berry, does the laundry. I know...shut up and stop complaining now. But he started this chore back when I was a nanny years ago and I felt like I was doing another family's laundry, plus ours. And let me just say... he doesn't do yard work, so he has to do SOMETHING!

OK, so he does our laundry (thank you Berry) but he piles up all of the socks on my decorated book shelves! WTF? Sometimes I think he does it just to piss me off, so I will tell him NEVERMIND, I'LL DO THE LAUNDRY! This reverse psychology crap isn't going to work on me though! I have tried leaving the damn socks piled there for a week to see how long it would take him to finish the task of putting them away. But no. They have sat there for over a week before... my neighbor comes over to visit me and laughs at the socks. She even says "Why does he do that?" I have no answer.

SO now, I pick up the pile, put them in a basket and place it either on his computer chair... or on his pillow on the bed. He always replies with "Oh, I need to do the socks."

    O.M.G!!!

I could actually write a book on things that don't get done by anyone around here. Like the fact that my entire family must think that we have self-cleaning counters in the kitchen. Nobody ever wipes up their crumbs or mess.

I will leave the rest for another blog though.

    ReplyDelete
  76. OMG! I was sure one of you was going to pounce down and grab the #100 spot!

**sniff sniff** it truly means I am all alone in here right now.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Glynis Good march!!! Your sock story is hysterical. My husband helped around the house alot but also tended to do things only 95%. What's up with that? If he cleaned the windows, he would leave the Windex and rags sitting out on either the table or the counter. WTF? Did he need to leave evidence that he had done a chore? I just don't know. I don't leave the vacuum in the middle of the room to announce that I have vacuumed.

    ReplyDelete
  78. All the comments today are making me laugh! It's amazing how much we all have in common!

Some of us are OCD, some don't really care, and I find myself in the middle!

I am very OCD about my Jeep! It has to be sparkling clean, vacuumed etc. I dread each time one of the grandkids gets in with food!

But, I did the super-clean thing with my home when the kids were young. Laurie was on the floor up until she was almost 3 (didn't walk until 2 1/2) so I made sure the floors were clean, clean, clean! I dusted, vacuumed, mopped, etc. almost everyday!!!

Now, I say "My house is clean enough to be healthy, and dirty enough to be happy"

Things do change as we age. Priorities change. Our bones creak and groan more as we clean, so we say, "tomorrow, I'll get to it"

I do tend to be a bit
dis-organized. Not because I want to be! And I have so many clothes in my closet that need to be given to charity, but I just never seem to get around to it!

Now, my friend from LA, Angela, (remember the Eagles)? is coming in May, depending on Laurie's surgery, so I HAVE to get with it, throw out a bunch of old stuff, Goodwill wil get many things, garbage others.

And, I am NOT looking forward to it!!!

~~Lynn D~~ Thank you for asking. My therapy went very well. I made another appointment, and am looking into the Kaiser classes for stress management, and pain management. I think this was a great move for me to make.

Well, time to go move the hose on my little trees in the front yard.

Have a wonderful Saturday evening everyone!

    Peace, DonnaJean

    ReplyDelete
  79. DonnaJean I'm so glad that your appointment went well. I like your saying about your house. I agree with the sentiment, wholeheartedly!

    ReplyDelete
  80. DonnaJean: Good for you for being proactive on these things!

Amicus: Hugs! Tomorrow will be a better day... trust me!

I have an issue with ms comments as well, I never want to leave anyone out, and if I send to all, (which I did once) It took me 4hrs.

So now I usually just send comments to the person when I want to say something. However when Birdee is bad, and Jax is egging her on, and Mo is making coffee for them. I have not choice but to send them comments!

  89. My house is a complete neat fest. I live with my parents (by choice) as that is the way life went for me. My mom is a complete clean freak. And Everything has a place, and that is where it goes. No diversions allowed!

My dad drives her nuts tho, she follows him around the house and picks up after him. Sometimes I feel sorry for him as if he wants to change something, it just isn't gonna happen...

Which makes me think of my Control Freak blog, maybe thats where I got It? :O)

  97. Hi everyone,

Amicus, please don't give up your business! That is something that can happen, and the owie will heal.

I wish I'd had you for a groomer when my Lilly was alive. She came home one time with a hematoma on her ear!

That same day I went to pick her up, and I walked in and the gal who groomed Lilly apparently didn't hear the door. She was yelling at my cute little doggy! "Lilly you are driving me crazy with your scratching". She was so angry.

We never yelled at her, so I'm sure Lilly was upset and confused.

The groomer had used something on her that made her scratch and shake her head, Lilly developed a hematoma :(

Never took her back there! I called and told them she had to have surgery on her ear, they couldn't have cared less. It was really pathetic!

Anyway, please continue to care for those lucky babies.

Lovey I forgot to say welcome back!

Count me as one who has had some major problem with MS. I usually get foaded off there shortly after signing on. Something about MS makes my whole internet shut down, the router has to be restarted, it is such a pain.

I love to send pictures and comments, but it is time consuming for me, and I get kicked off and then lose patience.

    See you all tomorrow!

  98. I am home, I am home, I am home! And just a little glad to be there! I missed all you wonderful owls while I was working this week and had little blogging time. Yup, I am a teacher and I work with students that are deafblind (like Helen Keller) and I travel to see them in different school districts in the province (I'm in Canada). It is a wonderful job...the kids are phenomenal...however this year I am finding the travelling fun but tiring. I am very happy to be sleeping in my own little bed tonight!

Hey Joey...the Notorious VIG says too funny about Vancouver Girl! Hope you have had a happy day!

  118. Hiya Night Owls

I came on to check mail before trying to catch some z's and I found this in my mailbox and I had to share.
Hope it gives u a giggle.

My appetite is my shepherd; I always want.
It maketh me sit down and stuff myself.
It leadeth me to my refrigerator repeatedly.
It leadeth me in the path of Burger King for a Whopper.
    It destroyeth my shape.
Yea, though I knoweth I gaineth, I will not stop eating
For the food tasteth so good.
The ice cream and the cookies, they comfort me.
When the table is spread before me, it exciteth me
For I knoweth that I sooneth shall dig in.
As I filleth my plate continuously,
    My clothes runneth smaller.
Surely bulges and pudgies shall follow me all the days of my life
And I shall be "pleasingly plump" forever.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Lovey That was very cute. I'm hoping to avoid the "forever" part. LOL
