  6. Good Morning Owls!

I haven't seen Hairspray yet, but after watching that video, I can't wait to see it! How fun, and I loved that song! It's one of our off-series shows next season, and now, I want to rent the movie too. John Travolta in drag is too funny! :)

Waving HI to Mo, Turtle, Iteach, EBJ

Hope everyone has a beautiful day!

  8. Good Morning Maureen (1st), K-Girl (You are up early), Iteach, EBJ and Amicus.

I am busy today getting ready for our Victoria Day BBQ at my house. I am excited to see the baby.

I will watch the video now. I assume it's from Hairspray. I have the DVD and it's excellent. They say the Broadway show is so much better. Let's all meet in New York. That's sounds like it comes from "An Affair to Remember" or "Sleepless in Seattle". I will be back.
    Thanks for breakfast Maureen.

MEK: I slept in this morning until 7:00! LOL But I was up until two because the house was just to warm, so I guess I really didn't sleep in ROFLMAO!

The oh wise weather people say it is supposed to cool off today and only be in the mid 70's. I don't know where they are getting there readings from, Maybe Ohio MO, because my porch thermometer already says 79.

Waving at anyone who jumps in after me!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Lynn - yes - it's just TOO hot to sleep - plus - I had stayed up after 1a.m., SO - I'm a little tired - Hope you have a great day..

  18. Hello Owls!

MEK...I think I woulda stomped over there jammies and all and given them a piece of my mind! We have ordinances against that but not everyone abides.

K-grl...Sorry about the poker..I love to play and most always win playing with friends, but never at a casino...go figure.

A trip to NY would be so fun! I saw a marquee in Joey's pics for Chorus Line which I would love to see.

I am off to scrape tons of paint off the floor from the stupid painter who feels that drop cloths are beneath him. He was such a waste of money...I ended up going over almost everything he did.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, I do a couple of things and the nest got busier!

LYNN D...sorry my dear, but we are only going to be in the mid-50's today! I have the heat on ;(

RONNIE...no, I'm not illegitimate! My momma knew exactly who her baby daddy was!!

ITEACH... a picnic sounds like such a fun Sunday afternoon.

TINKA...did you save the leftovers from the bbq yesterday to feed your guests? LOL!! What will you be making today?

K-GIRL did you play poker or poke her? LOL!

    EBJ...how is Paula doing?

AMICUS...hope you have a fun day today.

MEK...tell your neighbor he is being rude and tedious. Do you have an association you can report him to? Hope your headache goes away soon.

  20. SCIRISH...good morning. We were typing at the same time!

  26. Good sunny Sunday morning, Owls!

Carol...I woke up feeling rather lethargic and that video put a spring in my step! Loved that movie! Thanks, CPGEM!

OMG...a spider the size of a Volkswagon just ran through across my kitchen floor! Yikes! Anyone have any tricks for keeping the big spiders away? I do the chestnut thing...put chestnuts around the corners of the rooms...the spider thinks it is a monster spider and stays away...but this spider was bigger than the chestnut! Any hints, Heloise?

  27. Tinka & VIG,

Next time it is Victorian Day one of you should post a blog about that day for the ignornant Americans ( like me) who don't know how you celebrate it.

    Just a thought! :)

    Have a great Victorian Day.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Vig: LOL I just spotted one in my kitchen this morning while I was getting coffee.

My trick: Fire up the vacuum cleaner! LMAO

    Chestnuts, Huh Who knew???

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am such a baby about spiders, too! I would like to know all of your secrets to keeping them away.

LYNN...trust me, I will be bitching and moaning about the heat and humidity soon enough!!

ITEACH...good idea for the Canadian Owls to post blogs about their holidays and customs. I would much rather read about it here then on google!

    ReplyDelete
  30. It's already hot here, supposed to cool down to the 90s today!

I've just watered all plants out front and on the patio.

And I'm doing laundry! That is my exciting Sunday MEK.

Will go swimming later, and also have to read up for a CPR class on Tues.

Poe and I are sharing a bagel. Paula is asleep on the bed. And huz is at work!

Mo, Paula is doing great! She is getting fluid every other day, and so far so good. We don't need to take her back to the vet til mid July, providing things keep going as they are. Thank you for asking!

Kgirl my huz is a whiz at poker, I tell him he should enter the tournaments.

I have a cousin (female) who has played in the WPT (is that what's it's called?) and won a sizeable chunk of $$ a couple years ago.

She is a psychiatrist and is good at reading people hahaha!

iteach a picnic sounds really nice! A great way to spend a Sunday.

MEK we have a neighbor who has a Harley and likes everyone to know it. He will rev it up at 7am on a weekend morning, and roar home at 3am.

It's not that he has a Harley, as my huz has always ridden one til a few years ago (and wants one again) but he revs it over and over.

Hi to Amicus, Tink, VIG, Ronnie, Lynn & Scirish! Have a nice Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I have just wasted an hour trying to get on myspace and now I don't have time to spend here in the nest and that is where I want to be. I got stubborn and kept trying until finally I got on to retrieve my messages. Now I don't have time to respond to comments here. The message I got from that video was that life is rushing by and you better keep up with it. That's what I am doing, rushing by. I have so much to do. I will be back this evening. Love, Tinka

    ReplyDelete
  32. Tink...sorry about your Myspace frustrations this morning! Hope you have a great day with your family!

lynn_d...it must be a northwest thing. Do you get the wolf spiders...the ones with the huge bodies? Ohhh...gives me shivers just thinking about them!

iteach...thanks...good idea! For alot of people, Victoria Day is the first long weekend of the summer season and it is not so much about the actual reason that we are celebrating. It's about camping and getting away for the weekend. There aren't alot of rituals that go with it, except for the odd parade. Here in Victoria we are a very British like city and we have a parade....and it almost always rains on that day....hopefully it won't this year. VD was originally started because we are a Commonwealth country and have some ties to the queen. Here is a little blurbie from Wikipedia about Victoria Day!

Victoria Day (French: Fête de la Reine) is a Canadian statutory holiday celebrated on the last Monday before or on May 24 in honour of both Queen Victoria's birthday and the current reigning Canadian sovereign's birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I felt bad about not having an owl avatar...so I am trying this one on for size

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes Vig we get the Wolf spiders and they are gross!! When we moved into this house there was one in the garage that could have carried off a small toddler! He was huge!!! Mr. Lynn D caught him in a jar to show everybody. Ewwww

I really hate the black jumping spiders! You just never know which way they will move when you are trying to get rid of them!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good Sunday morning everyone.

Mo: Legitimately 1st...congrats. And thanks for McD's. Yummy

K-girl: are you practicing for Vegas? Let's hope you do better there.

    MEK: 9 & 10 & 25 so far and Ronnie 20...good marching

Tinka, Lovey & VIG and all the other Canadian Owls: Happy Victoria ay to you

VIG: Sorry about your VW BUG. The chestnut trick is a new one to me. I don't know how to keep critters out of the house. I just have the outside sprayed every month, but they still get in. I'm afraid to stop though, because I may get more than I have now. I use Lynn's method...suck them up.

Waving a wing at EBJ, iteach, Amicus, and scirish and all who land after me. I am off to church and then I am ushering again today, but there will be no NEKKID guys. This one is a kids play. Have a good day. BBL.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lynn_D...Definitely a PNW thing! Once I put on an old sweater that I hadn't worn for awhile and when I pulled my arm through there was a big ol' wolf spider on my hand! Heebeegeebies!!!

Sacbarb..thanks for the Victoria day wishes. The chestnut method is an old wives tale thing that does work for the small spiders. The brown horse chestnuts that fall from oak trees (I think...is that right, Tinka?) are shiny and round and brown and spiders apparently think they are bigger spiders and stay away. I very seldom see a spider in my place when I have them around!

  37. G'morning Everyone!

Grats on 1st, Mo, Thanks for the McBreaky and aren't you just a cute little freckled owl today?!?

Tinka~~Hope you have a great family bbq and belated/extended Mother's Day celebration. If only we could talk you off that dang Mac! Hope the weather holds for your Monday parade.

Scirish~~Very 'punny' about "stupid painter who feels that drop cloths are beneath him". (or not?)

Iteach~~Your post has me reciting daughter's favorite childhood book, The Berenstain Bears' PICNIC. I still know every verse by heart. Thanks for the memory.

It was finally cool enough this morning to get the annuals I bought days ago planted around the patio.

I hear you, Lynn, on the weather forecaster folks. Who's maps are they reading? Yesterday was supposed to be 'much cooler' than the day before which was 94. Ended up being 95 here, and set an all-time May record of 99 on the coast at Florence, where we HAD planned to go to cool off! Heading back out to enjoy the cool 70'ish morning. BBL~~Enjoy your day!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Vig,Tinka & other Canadian friends
    Happy Victoria Day
Our Memorial Day is this coming weekend.
Whabby~ You drunk? no way LOL!

MEK~ We live out in the country. Most of the time it's peaceful. We had a local man hurt in a bad accident, lost both legs and got a humongous settlement. He decided to start a motorcycle building business a mile from our house. Not too bad until he started to get national attention! We have since had Tommy Herns,Kid Rock,Bob Seger etc., all wanting him to build them a bike. Our road is their testing ground! No early morning test though TG! His business's name
    is "Cool City motors"

    ReplyDelete
  39. We seldom see spiders in our house, cause we have Paula the Exterminator!

She will track and kill a spider. Or any bug! She will leap in the air to get something that flies by, and you'd never know she's 16 by the way she chases it down.

There is a nail in the wall that Paula thinks is a bug. She will jump onto the dresser and sit and stare at it, doing the "kitty chatter" thing.

Huz has to go pick her up and hold her up by the nail, so she can see it isn't a bug. She swats at it with her paw waiting for it to move. This is an almost nightly thing in our house.

This morning I discovered ANTS streaming across the kitchen floor. Got them sprayed and now get to clean them up. yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Geesh, make that 'whose', please. Thanks. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  41. correction on the cycle name it's "Cool City Customs".

    ReplyDelete
  42. Eastbay~yay for the spider terminator!!
Bono. We have high winds & cool temps here. Send us some degrees please!

Carol, I loved that movie! It is def. a feel good show!
Everyone have a good day. I am off to the Art Festival....

    ReplyDelete
  43. Carol
    I loved the movie Hairspray.
    Mo
Thanks for the McD breakfast. Too cute!
    EBJ
Glad to hear Paula is doing better. I like Harleys but geez nobody wants to hear them at ungodly hours. You can cut the engine and glide them up the driveway. We do.
    Mary/Mi
Does the guy make any custom choppers? I love custom bikes. The one that I loved seeing the most was the Fire Bike that Orange Co. Choppers built in honor of firemen who died during 9/11.They take that particular bike alot on their tours.
It's great weather today and I'm out of here! Have a great day everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hi Mary and Dreama! Have a great Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Bono: Wear a hat if you are out digging today! I think our thermometer broke! LOL It is now reading 100. I know that is not true but it is warmer than 75 already.

Sacbarb: I figur there is no way spiders can live in the dust and dog hair I vacuum up! LOL Best spider getters ever!

Mary: Have fun at the art festival! We have a new neighbor across the street who decided that he would build his own track for all of his buddies to come over and race on. Well one day they came over and for six hours we had to listen to that crap! Our neighbor on the left called the sheriff. Evidently we have a noise ordinance and that took care of that. Thank goodness. I would loose my mind. We could not even hear our tv.

I keep asking why these people move to the country???

Well I better get off of my touchey and get some things done!

    ReplyDelete
  46. LynnD~~According to Accuweather.com it's only 73 here, with 50% humidity and 'real-feel' of 83. 74 is my optimum, so everything above that I'm sending to Mary/MI.

VIG~~I'd lose that new avatar before the next march (to 69?) if I were you. You'll either get stomped on or eaten...just sayin'. Do owls eat spiders?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Maureen Congrats on first today. I'm not sure how you could be first illegitimately. Good idea for breakfast today. Thanks. Oh, also, I think I'm too used to your cute little porky images. Besides, the owl would be very suitable for Want2Sleep.

VIG OMG, the story about the spider in your sweater really creeped me out! We had a wolf spider spin a huge web on the deck once. It was so big, my hubby jokingly suggested he shoot it. Instead, he caught it in a jar and we released it at a ranch about 1/2 mile away. We thought it would gallop with the horses. LOL

MEK What an inconsiderate neighbor. Is this the same guy that would be outside singing late at night?

EBJ Love that Paula story. Cats are hysterical! Also loved the Poe videos. The vet clinic where I used to work had a resident African Grey named Edith. She would mimic cats, dogs, the phone, coins being counted. Many other things. She was so funny and entertaining.

HAPPY VICTORIA DAY to all our Canadian owls!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am off to the laundry mat and then to work.
It was fun being here for these couple of day!!

CAROL...I hope that you had an incredibly wonderful weekend.

Thanks feathered friends for the laughs (and heebee geebies regarding spiders!!)

    ReplyDelete
  49. HI JL!!

How are you today? What is the temp over there on the coast? We are roasting out here. It has to be in the 90s already.

Glad you enjoyed Poe's videos. I just posted one on Myspace that I took of him a while ago.

He is yelling PARTY PARTY PARTY so I thought MEK would enjoy it!

It's so nice having a tedious Sunday and hanging out at home. I am getting stuff done in between my blogging too! haha

I forgot to say Happy Victoria Day! And thank you for posting the meaning of the holiday, VIG!

    ReplyDelete
  50. K so my day to sleep in and it gets ruined by the neighbors doing work on their house!!! Saws & nail guns, just what I love to wake up to..

EBJ, I usually do rather well. I have played in the World Series of Poker too. Last night only 1st and 2nd place won money. And I lost to my friend who goes to the WSOP with me.

It's a crystal blue sky today, the VOG is gone as the trades are back, so I think I am gonna go for a motorcycle ride.

    Have a great day everyone~

    ReplyDelete
  51. LMAO Did I really type Touchey!!! That should be touche' to my Tushy!

Vig I am getting out my vaccuum!!! You have a spider on your Avatar!

Bono: It is a little warmer here in Rainier about 78 or so Mr. Lynn D just came in from working outside and says in the direct sun it feels like 80.

Mo: I am glad you got to spend time with us too! I hope all goes well at work tonight!

Back to work for me. What a drag...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm so tired. I took a short nap and I wish I could have more.

The picnic was fun and they are wore out.

Now it is time to get ready for two graduation parties.

    8th and 12th grade

What are your thoughts about 8th grade graduation parties?

It has been a long tradition here, because a long long long time ago children had to work to support family. Some did not go onto high school.

However, now that everyone has to go on to high school, should we still do big 8th grade parties?

I know families that don't because they feel that it is expected to go from middle school to high school. No party should be given for something that is expected. I can see that point of view.

My parents gave me a small party in the backyard.

The 8th grade party that we are going to right now is a big one and they rented a hall for it.

Personally, I'm hoping to skip 8th grade parties and just celebrate their nest milestone with new clothes from the mall.

    ReplyDelete
  53. SPIDERS - EEEKKKK.. I agree with LynnD - get out the vacuum!! and who is touchey your touchee on the couchee??!!

VIG - you can change your little picture ANY time - thank you!!
    :-)

Just Lin - no - this is the neighbor across the street that gave our name out at the Home Show and got my phone ringing with un-soliciated calls... The signing neighbor is gone - a new "batch" of illegals have arrived..

K'Girl - sorry you were awaken by rude neighbors - must be going around today!!

Mary and EBJ - why do Harley riders feel they need to REV for an hour before they actually go anywhere??!!

Iteach - where I grew up - our junior high was 7-9th grade - so I have never heard of 8th grade graduation parties - and we did NOT get a party when we finished 9th.

EBJ - don't you love the entertainment our babies give us - I will go check out PARTY!!!!

We are at 94 right now - supposed to get to 96 - tomorrow 101!!

If I missed anyone - sorry!! Tylenol is not helping my pounding head!!

    ReplyDelete

    Amicus~ I can't believe you haven't seen it~

iteach~ At my kids' school, they start in Pre-K and to go 8th grade, so graduation is a huge deal~ BUT....the whole class has a dinner and dance after the grad and the 7th graders are the servers/bus the tables....it's fun~

MoHo~ glad you are legit.....was worried about you~

    Ronnie~ this is for you~ :)~

  59. Just checking in.....it's been a long weekend. Feeling a little bit better. At least I'm not running a fever anymore.....but have a head full of snot (sorry, tmi) and sneezing my fool head off. About the only thing that made me feel better is slathering Vicks all over my chest and under my nose last night. I will be having a date with that jar of Vicks again tonight.....I know....so sexy!!!

Sam got confirmed this morning....I am so proud of her!! I can't believe it.....it just seemed like we had her baptized. She was the only student brave enough to stand up and give a faith talk this morning....and she did a great job.....all except for tripping down the stairs in her heels. Oh, well......the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.....I guess we'll just have to call her Grace.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday night!!!

CAROL - I'm glad you had a fun weekend!! Thanks for all you do.....SWAK!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey Owls....thanks for the May long weekend Victoria day wishes to we Canadians!!!

Oh oh....the spider avatar got sucked up!!!!!!!

EBJ....I love your Paula story. I think that needs to be videotaped and added to Poe's Youtube site.

just_lin....freeing the ginormous spider to run with the horses...too funny!!! Did the spider have a little saddle?

Has anybody heard about the movie called "The Visitor". It looks good in the trailers...has anyone seen it?

Jodi I LOVE Vicks! Vicks and flannel jammies, the best! Although flannel does NOT sound good when it's in the 90s here today.

    Congrats on Sam's confirmation!

We just finished swimming, and it is still very hot outside.

I put a cute Poe video on the Myspace main page, I could not get it to load on the video page.

MEK the video is for you!

Carol glad you had a nice weekend at graduation. I can imagine what a proud aunt you are.

Tina so good to see you again!

Seaside Lady will be sending out BABB info soon. If you are thinking of coming, please let me or her know so we can include you with an invitation!

We will no doubt have an AMAZING time!

  63. Vig, your spider cracked me up!! I'm really not afraid of bugs unless they are trying to get in bed with me !

MEK~ You'll have to ask the bikers what all the "reving" is about. How about it Dreama & K-grl?

Dreama, here is my neighbors web site. He just finished custom building a bike for an ex-soldier who lost his legs.

iteach~ We never had the 8th grade parties.I wasn't scarred for life over it LOL!! Never mind Tina!

Tina has been unusually nice to me lately LOL. She has been giving me a few travel tips to use while I am in Italy and France. Thanks Tina triple MUAH!!

Jodi~ So sorry you have had the cruds!! Take it e-a-s-y girl!!

Jodi, I had goose bumps listening to you describe how proud you are of your daughter. Way too cool!

  67. Jodi Congrats to your Sam. I wish you would have felt better but I'm sure it was a wonderful day for you anyway.

EBJ I definitely want BABB into. I think you asked me earlier about the weather. I have no idea what it was here. There was fog hanging over the beach but blue skies where I am, about 1 mile inland. I would guess low 70's.

iteach When I graduated from eighth grade they had a dance at the school. Same for my daughter when she graduated. No one had individual parties that I recall.

  88. Jodi,
I loved reading about Sam's confirmation, good for her!

I remembered when I got confirmed it was so exciting and quite intimidating. The bishop was there we had to answer questions, I was sweating, but I got the question right!

    Thanks for the great memory!

  95. OMG! The first cruise I went on was on an Italian line. All the waiters were hot! Plus, fresh pasta made from scratch available every day. Devine!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Tina,My niece is here doing most of the planning. She was there last year and can speak French. She found a champagne tasting boat trip on the Seine. I think we will sign up for it. We gave up on the trip to Dublin. They want to charge almost $50 a piece American $$ to take any luggage!

    ReplyDelete
  97. OOOH! Did you say sexy, young drivers!! I have needed a young sexy man to "drive me home" for a long, long time heh heh!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. OMG!!! Mary....don't you ever get any? :)~ lol~

  99. Uh, oh. You two are making me think about Custard and our 3 hour sessions. Just 16 days and 16 hours to go.

    ReplyDelete
  100. shut up J/L~ we didn't do anything of the sort....you haven't stopped thinking about him since you got back! :)~ AND YOU KNOW IT!!!!~ :D

    ReplyDelete
  101. Tina That's true enough. He says in 8th grade he would sit at his desk at school and draw hearts with our initials in it. So today he hiked up a mountain to a large Ponderosa Pine that he can see from his house, and carved a heart and our initials in it. Isn't that the cutest thing? He's going to take photos of it to give to me. Lord knows, I'm not hiking up any mountains. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  102. JustLynn~ So there!! LOL Tina knows!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Mary/MI Because of my hubby's health problems, etc., by the time I got together with Custard it had been 2 years for me. So I was really due. I was very happy to discover that Custard was more than up for the job. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  104. Justlynn~ You go girl!!! Take one for me hell take 2 or 3 LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. j/l....i guess mary and I will be living vicariously thru you!

    OR

wait....I'll be in CA at the same time as you....do you think Custard would like a 2 for 1 deal?~ :)~
