The Pips??

For Maureen

i have always wondered what it would
be like to be a comedian, it looks so freeing
as you can do anything, all the things that
we say we cannot do, due to embarrassment
comedians seem to do and more!

they are so concentrated on the task at hand
that their faces are symboled into exactly what
they are doing, i know i could not hold by expression
that long, i would crack up as soon as someone said
"action", so a comedian i could not be

the other night this clip struck my funny bone
my laughter exploded

i have watched it several times
since then and each time laugh more

it is a good video for a relaxing Sunday
as we all need to smile
and of course a good "crack up"

Enjoy!

  25. Morning Glories!!

Bebbi Got first!! Woo Hoo Woo Hoo! In the words of the Pips!

Mo: Oh My Holy Hell! I laughed my butt off watching this. I kept wondering what all of you were posting about the pips! Now I know!

I loved that Gladys was having a hard time not laughing.

When I was in High School and the one year of College, I had the chance of doing some physical comedy and it is freeing if you let yourself go.

I soon found that I did actually at that time have a knack for it and would make people laugh! I think 20 years ago I could have done it but I am not so sure now.

Thank you for bringing those memories back for me and making me have a great Sunday morning Belly laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  26. IBB - EEEEEWWWWWWW!!!! I just never thought about that....but so true. I will never just plop my bag down just anywhere ever again!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Woo hoo!!! LYNN D is in the house.....uh, make that the nest!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. IBB...at the grocery store I usually shop at, they have a big container of Clorox wipes to wipe down the handle of the shopping carts. I always wipe the seat area, too so when I out my purse in, it isn't sitting on the germs! I also use one to wipe my purse, cause it was on the floor of my car!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. LYNN D...good morning glory! WHy are you up so early on a Sunday? Hey, I didn't see I had a voice mail until I went to turn the alarm off on my phone. Sorry I missed you. I was snoring away!

    ReplyDelete
  30. G'Morning IBB did you get my Muwah's from yesterday? Thank you for helping with my MS dilemma!

Hey Jodi washing washing washing, that is my chore today also!

Iteach: Thank you for your lovely words on yesterdays blog!

    Bebbi: You too!

EBJ: We had beautiful sunshine yesterday. I think you sent your weather this way because we are overcast and rain today.

  32. Good Morning Mo: Glad you were sleeping! You deserve that much needed rest!

If you guys are talking about germs on purses. I lysol wipe mine about every 4 or 5 days. I saw a show about it and it grossed me out so much I now make it routine.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay, Lynn, I'm going to go lysol my purse. I keep forgetting to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Iteach: I do that but MO wipes the grocery cart and I never think to do that!!! LOL I guess I will just figure I am building immunities! LMAO

    From Area 51:

Mary MI: Thank you for your volunteer service! You work so hard at helping those veterans and soldiers!

MEK: Note to self, If I get to AZ to visit not to eat if Mr. MEK is cooking! LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  35. Our grocery store has those wipes at the door when you enter.. I use them ... I wipe the handle and the seat... I know little poopy butts have been there!!!

Yes LYNND-- I got your MWUH'S... I am so glad I could help...

hope every one has a great day.. I am Off...
    Be back after work tonight!!!!

Safe and Happy Holiday to all!!!!

  36. How rude of me...

THANKS to all of you that sent me Jicama recipes yesterday. I appreciate it immensely

    ReplyDelete
  37. Good Morning Maureen and Lynn. I am back with my Tropicana. I always mention the brand name just in case the right people see this and send me a dozen cartons. LOL

Ibebold, I always thought I was so careful with my purse because I always hang it up in Rest Rooms. I never stopped to think about other places it has been. When I get home from my Mom's lodge I wash my 'fur'babies feet. I put all my clothes in the wash and scrub my hands and face. I always feel there are a lot of germs there. Never have I thought of the fact that my purse is frequently on the floor in her room, at restaurants, in grocery carts and on the ground at my grandchildren's baseball games. Boy, what a good lesson. From now on my purse will be washed every time I feel the puppies feet need to be washed or I have just returned from the store or restaurant. Thanks for that information. That could save a lot of us from unnecessary illnesses.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was # 45.
    Carol, I loved that clip.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Have a great day everyone. I am off to my granddaughter's baseball game. It starts in an hour and I haven't eaten yet. I will remember to lysol my purse when I get home.

  41. Good morning everyone! I fell asleep on the floor...hubby stepped right over me to get to the computer!! How rude!

CPGEM: I think it is interesting that when you read about comedians, most were either very shy or loners as kids. They must use comedy to break out of that shell.

Thanks for the clip..I've watched it three times..just love it!!

    BEBBI: Congrats on FIRST!

EBJ: Stormy and UGLY?? Not in AZ, stormy=beautiful!! ;)

    Good Morning...

Man - it's busy in here this am., so I won't address everyone!!

    Just a BIG OLE' HOWDY!!!

Cpgem and MO - that Pip segment was the BEST during Idol. I totally agree - How do they keep a straight face???!!

  66. Happy Sunday Owls!

Carol...thanks....that was so fun to watch Gladys and her newest Pips again. Too funny!

If you want to see the original clip that they used for this, go to:
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=vay7S7SQXyw
(Sorry, I don't know to do a link...but if you just paste this into your tool bar, you will get there!)
I think they must have used that clip...took the old Pips out and put the new ones in!

    ReplyDelete
  67. MEK, take a extra nap for me.

I have to go to a kid's birthday party this afternoon.

Don't they know that is my nap time? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Zona, I hear you have cool weather. What is cool weather for you right now in Arizona?

    ReplyDelete
  69. ITEACH: It is 65 degrees right now, normally it would be at least 80. Only a couple days more of this though. :(

MEK: I am so sorry you are sick, hope Mr Vicks helps. Thanks for the Angel Food cake and chocolate milk. ;)

VIG: Thanks for the link, I thought she looked awful young. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Zona...I thought she looked awful young too! The original was from 1973! How's Mr. Zona feeling today?

    ReplyDelete
  71. VIG: Not too good. He's still gonna get it for stepping over me too. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mornin' Owls! Nice to see so many of you at the same time.

Bebbi Good for you, being first today and thanks for bringing the oranges.

Carol What a fun way to start the day! I LOVE that clip. Loved it the other night and loved it again today. I think I mostly love that Robert Downey Jr. was part of it. You expect the othrs to act like goofballs, but not him so much. Plus, I'm really happy that he finally seems to have his act together. I was really worried for him for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Carol: Love the clip! I LOVE Ben Stiller and Jack Black! I would love to meet a guy like Jack Black or Ben Stiller! They are so funny and I love to laugh!

You know....my grandmother always wanted me to be a comedian. I always loved making her laugh when I was younger. She would beg me to stop and I just would keep at it (until she made a run for the bathroom because she was going to wet her pants from laughing so hard)!

Unfortunately, the older I got, the more cynical my humor became. However, I am glad for the comedians like Ben Stiller and Jack Black that keep us laughing!

I so love to laugh, but lately it's been more difficult to do so...

OK....back to the paper. Then I'll be with my parents and sister for a BBQ in the back yard (as the rain seems to have stopped).

Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone! Thank you all for the great comments (I will be better at sending them once I get through this week)!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Zona If I fell asleep on the floor, my body would be so sore and my neck would be stiff. I'd be really crabby, too, probably.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hi all, I am back for a minute. IBB, I don't think I have you on my myspace. Can I get your myspace name or you can go to mine and add me. I am www.myspace.com/bebbi. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Just Lin, Vig, Mek in AZ, and Jennifer..HI!! I love this place, I just am glad I can come here today, i know many days go by and I miss a lot but thanks to everyone for letting me come and fit in when I can. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Oops, I missed Zona! Hi to you too.

Also, I always love comedians. Even when I was a kid, I had pictures of Robin Williams when other girls had Donny Osmond or other "normal" teen idols. I just love them. I think the best thing in the world is to laugh and that is why I love my husband because he and I can laugh together.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Bebbi I think being able to laugh with your partner is extremely important. Not only does it make life more fun but humor can get you through lots of hard times. And there will be hard times, guaranteed.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Just Lin! You are so right! I have always been attracted to comedic people and that was high on my list of priorities in finding someone. :)

Zona, I fell asleep on the COUCH last night and slept wrong and my neck hurts. My days of sleeping on the floor are over, I would probably never be able to get up!!!

And...if I missed anyone, just by accident..hello and Happy Day to all. I am not as good as others at reading all these and keeping up. :) (in other words, I am a little on the slow side).

Another thing, if I blog or phone, I have this annoying little habit of remembering something else I want to say after I post or hang up. So then I repost or call back. You can ask my kids they always expect me to call back right away about something else. lol. oopsy.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well, not so much fun alone, but I'll take it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. JUST LIN...i tried to swoop in! Congrats!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Maureen I saw that!! You almost grabbed it away from me! Good try!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I should at least start the washing machine instead of just sitting here in my robe with a cup of coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Zona that sounds like Illinois weather!

    ReplyDelete
  85. That was funny Maureen..Nice swoop!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Hubby, is taking Philip to the birthday party and he is going to stay!

Yes, I get to take a nap with Carolyn and Matthew.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Good Afternoon Owls!

Carol: I too am amazed by how comedians are able to keep a straight face during skits like that. I would be ROTFL! :)

VIG: Seeing the original clip with the real Pips made it even funnier. :) Thanks for sharing that!

Bebbi: Congrats on your first 1st!

Waving HI to Iteach, EBJ, IBB, Jodi, Tinka, Mo, Lynn, Tina, Zona, MEK, Just Lin, Jennifer!

    From yesterday's comments...

Tinka: You quoted me correctly regarding Captcha. :)

BonO: I'm not 100% sure if this is what you were asking so just let me know if I misunderstood. :)
    Our 2008-2009 season:
Legally Blonde ~ The Color Purple ~ Stomp ~ Spring Awakening ~ Cirque Dreams ~ A Chorus Line ~ Mary Poppins ~ CATS ~ Sweeney Todd ~ Hairspray ~ Riverdance ~ Phantom of the Opera.

Hope everyone has a fun, relaxing Sunday!
We're having a bad storm with loud thunder and scary lightning so I'm going to shut down my computer until it's over. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. 110 because that is how much I weigh.

    ReplyDelete
  89. iteach Hooray for you! This is not the best weekend for birthday parties, IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Just kidding, I wish!! My younger sister would still weigh less then me!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Amicus I love, love, love thunder and lightening! Wish I was there.

    ReplyDelete
  92. J/L I love a good storm too!

    ReplyDelete
  93. iteach You threw me with the 110 remark!

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'm trying to remember the last time I weighed 110 and I think it was my senior year in high school.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Hi Amicus, I hope the storm goes by quickly and is safe. Thanks for the congrats on first. :)

I haven't weighed 110 since I was a sophomore in high school. My junior and senior year I weighed 125! I weighed that for years until I had my kids then it really got out of control.

I would be happy to weigh 150!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Bebbi I would be happy to weigh 150, too. Haven't seen that in a long, long time.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I haven't weighed 110 since I was a toddler!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Time for nap time. I will go dream about 150.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Maureen Me thinks you exaggerate! LOL I was probably 110 when I started high school.

    ReplyDelete
  100. 110 I would be happy if my blood pressure would get that low. Weight don't want to think about it! LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  101. I would look terrible and sickly if I was 110 now.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hi, 'weenie, Amicus, Bebbi and all Sunday Owls!

Carol: I've always liked Gladys and the Pips. I'd rather live in her world than live without her in mine! LOL!

What a lazy Sunday we're having! Breakfast while watching the French Open, maybe hit some tennis balls this afternoon, and then heading to Barracks for Beer Bust.

    :| :) :D !!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Hi Whabbear! It sounds like you have a full day of plans, how nice! Not me, my plan..watch old movies on the tv, nap, play around on the computer and casually do laundry!

    ReplyDelete
  104. omg...does anyone have the show Idol Rewind on their local Fox station? The best of the worst auditions of season 2! ROFLMBFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Bebbi: What old movies? Sounds like a great way to spend your Sunday to me!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I am home from Traci's game. We won. I know the main thing is how you play the game but it sure feels good when your granddaughter's team wins. The weather was perfect. I am going to take my 'fur babies' and have our nap. I will read the comments and respond when I wake up. Hope every one is having a great Memorial Day weekend.

  108. Good afternoon Owls. I drug myself out of bed to check in on all of you. I think I caught MEK's cold and my sinuses are killing me.

Carol: Thanks for posting that clip. I loved it on the show and it is even better the second & third time.

Bebbi: Congrats on #1. Good to see you back in the nest and bringing oranges too. My sis does the same thing on the phone. Nine times out of ten she will call right back with something she forgot to tell me.

IBB: No problem, it is just good to know another GWTW fan.

Jodi: 100th load of laundry and no water loads...congrats.

    Tinka: Enjoy your granddaughter's game.

LynnD: I'm not surprised you did comedy. You always keep me laughing here in the nest.

Tina: Thanks for the prayers. I can use all I can get.

Miss Zona: If my hubby walked over me while I was asleep on the floor he wouldn't 'get it' from me for a long time.

J/L: I, too, an glad to see Robert Downey has finally gotten it together. I think he is a geat actor and I was so pulling for him.

Amicus: Wow, you have a really long Broadway series. We only have 6 shows, one being an option that costs extra. The option this year is Stomp and we didn't opt for it because we have seen it.

Bear: Sounds like you are having a great time in PS.

MEK: I hope you are feeling better today. I think I'm going back to bed for a while.

Waving a wing at iteach, EBJ, Mo, VIG, Jennifer, and everyone else who lands after me.

  110. Whabby, You are going to laugh...I am watching "Coyote Ugly"...not the old movies like you would think..lol. Actually I am multi-tasking and listening to the Beyond Reality Radio with the Ghost Hunters International too. My hubby thinks I am nuts. A myspace friend of mine is on the show and they just downloaded last night's podcast.

  115. Just Lin,
My dog, Buffy, is terrified of thunder and lightning so those kind of storms are nerve-racking for me and him. I spend the entire time trying to calm him down, because he clings to me and shakes uncontrollably.

He's also afraid of smoke alarms, and just my luck, one of mine went off during the storm. I was worried poor Buffy was going to have a heart attack, because I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. It's one of those 10-year smoke alarms with a lithium battery.

I came close to throwing it on the floor and jumping up and down on it. LOL! Fortunately, I found the "deactivate" screw before I smashed it to smithereens. :)

  116. Amicus Sorry about Buffy but LOL @ you jumping up and down on the alarm.

I know some dogs really have a difficult time with loud noises like thunder. They've been known to jump into bathtubs, try to climb up the inside of a chimney, and even jump through plate glass windows. That's not funny at all.

  117. My dog Bandit doesn't like Thunder storms. He gets really nervous. He isn't as nervous as Buffy but I always feel bad for him, he usually hides or sits really close to me.

  118. Want:
Where the heck have you been?

    Sleeping?

    :O)

    ReplyDelete
  119. The last doberman I had was very intimidated by the cats but ignored thunder completely. Go figure!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Just had to do it! :) OK, back to my chores. :(

  121. Whabby: Waving HI to you too! Have fun at the Beer Bust! :)

    SacBarb,
Our season tickets for the Broadway series include 6 shows too. The other shows are off-series so we have to pay extra for them.

Our season usually starts in Oct/Nov and ends in Apr/May, but next season starts in Oct 2008 and ends in Sept 2009, with Dec and Jul being the only months we don't have shows. It's the longest season we've ever had, and I'm thrilled, because I go through withdraws during the summer. ;)

Our Muny does summer shows, but it's an outdoor theater. I don't normally buy tickets, because our summers are so hot and humid. My friend, Cathy, is dying to see Miss Saigon though, and it's one of the Muny's shows this summer so we're going to that one in July.

Also, Christopher Kale Jones, who was amazing as the lead Frankie in the 1st Nat'l Tour of Jersey Boys, is coming back to St. Louis in July for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat so we're seeing that one too.

The withdraws won't be so bad this summer. :)

No don't ever smash lithium batteries. They explode. Google it and it will explain everything. My Doberman was afraid of storms & my Pekingese is the same way and with the alarms.
    Bebbi
    hello.

  123. Just Lin and Bebbi: I too have heard stories of dogs injuring themselves and/or causing a lot of damage to their homes during a storm. It's a very serious issue for some dogs. Buffy just gets really nervous, more like Bandit.

Hi Carol! Since my Sunday night shows are over this season, I rented Hairspray so I could watch it tonight. :)

I'm off to take a nap now though. Buffy and I have had a stressful day. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  124. I was here all last night Carol, where he heck were you ?

    Hi Bebbi.

Back to practicing my Pips routine.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I can't begin to tell you the stories about my dog and his reactions to thunder. I could write a book. But, it got me new furniture, 3 times.

  126. Hey WANT!!! No storms here yet, but they are coming!!!

  127. Amicus: I am lucky that I usher for the summer musical theater. The 2008 summer schedule:
    Sound of Music
    Gypsy
    Sweeney Todd
    Swing
    My Fair Lady
    Evita
    Hairspray
I have seen all but Swing. The season opens July 5th.

  128. Dreama: Thanks! I didn't know that. Glad I decided not to smash it. :)

Hi Want! I've heard of people using Rescue Remedy to help calm their dogs during storms, but I've never tried it so I can't vouch for how well it works. Since your dog is damaging furniture though, it might be worth a try.

SacBarb: That's a great summer season! Enjoy! :)

    Bye for now, Owls!

  129. SacBarb I loved Evita when I saw it in San Francisco years ago.

Okay, back to my regularly scheduled housework. :(

    ReplyDelete
  130. J/L: I love Evita too. Actually I am happy to be seeing all of these shows. Each cast brings it's own personality to a show. I just plain love musical theater, so I can watch all of them over and over. I have been lucky enough to have ushered since 1969, so I have seen many of them more than once.

  131. SACBARB - What a great line-up!!! I love musical theater, but don't go as often as I would like.
