Commercials!

by Zona

"Candy coated popcorn, peanuts and a prize...that's what you get in Cracker Jacks!"

"Meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow meow meow
meow meow ....."

Commercials. Love or hate them, we have all grown up watching them. In some cases they have contained jingles that get stuck in your head and no amount of shaking can dislodge their attack on your senses. Even after not seeing a certain ad for years..there are some that I can't forget. When my stomach is upset..I think of Alka Seltzer's "Plop plop fizz fizz oh what a relief it is...".

Some can be annoying...like the current Burger King ad with the big headed king...that one gives me the creeps. Then there are the one's that touch your heart...those by Hallmark come to mind. I still remember the Coca-Cola "I'd like to teach the world to sing..." commercial fondly...and the one for Chuckwagon dog food, where the dog chased the chuckwagon across the kitchen, always made me smile.

Do you have a favorite commercial or jingle?? How about one you absolutely hate??

What are some of the ones you remember....or wish you could forget...."Butter....Parkay.....Butter...Parkay...."??

  2. Good morning, early Birdee!!

Oh, ZONA, what fun this will be!

    LEAST favorites:

*Carpet-cleaning commercial with the dog 'scooting' across the floor and the mom screaming at him.

Once I get all the tunes you mentioned out of my head, I'll try to settle on a favorite.

*Anything with "BILLY MAYS HERE FOR...." Could his voice be any more obnoxious?

A fine fine mist in the air this morning. Smells SOOOO good.

    Good morning everyone!!

  3. Zona, I don't really like that BK commercial either.

The one with Sarah McLachlin (sp?) singing with the dog's in animal shelters needing a home...very sad to me. I sometime's turn the channel.

BTW, did I tell you, I love the pics you put up on your page?

  5. Thanks, Birdee!

**trying to get the "free-credit report-dot-com-Baby" song out of my head now, so can think of some faves.**

  6. Comedian Bernie Mac has died. So sad, only 50 yrs young. I thought he was funny. Especially when he talked about kid's. ;o(

  7. As soon as I saw the title I clapped my chubby little hands!

I love commercials, good one Zona.

About ten years ago Hallmark put out some good ones that made me cry everytime.

  8. Good morning feathered friends!

    BIRDEEEEE...congrats on 1st!
That Sarah McLachlin commercial makes me sad, too. It is daunting.

    BONO...congrats on 3rd!! You're up early on a Saturday.

ZONA...great blog! I love the way you write!

My favorite commercial is one for, I think Bounty. A kid opens the fridge, grabs the orange soda, shakes it up and lets it spray all over the place. Mom is at the sink. She turns around and yells at him WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? Ya think she is gonna kill him! Then grabs the sink sprayer and says THIS WORKS BETTER and blasts the kid with the sprayer!!! It still makes me laugh after seeing it a bazillion times!

Remember WHERE'S THE BEEF? I hated those...still do!

  9. ITEACH...goog morning to you, too!

  10. Holy Buckets, I went to CNN and I can't decide what to read first.

    -Bernie Mac

-Another war staring in the world

-Another politican that can't keep his fly zipped

    - the Olympic cermonies

The news is really happening today!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Today I will be looking at all my household products and thinking if I like their commercial.

My five year old son is in love with commercials now. Everytime they show a new toy he goes nuts and says we have to get it!

    ReplyDelete
  12. ITEACH...yes, a lot of news today. Very sad about Bernie Mac. I think most politicians have velcro flys for easier access and eventually they all get caught. What sucks the most about this is his infidelity while his wife was battling cancer. It makes me ill.

  13. There is a local commercial here for a furniture store. The owner is the pitchman and his voice is hoarse and grating. He uses stupid props and he is THEEEEE most annoying man! I have to change the channel the second I hear his voice. Make Billy Mays totally appealing!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I can't believe he was actually running for presidency.

He must have a big ego.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I better get showered. My 9 year old cousin asked me to spend the day with her today! I am taking her to a noon matinee of Mamma Mia. Then we will have some lunch and look for school clothes! Her mom and dad can't handle taking her shopping, so I was volunteered!! I am actually looking forward to it...she usually behaves with me!! And last time, she treated me to lunch!!!

  20. Good morning,

Great blog, Zona. I agree, that BK King is awful. This should be a funny day.

    Birdee~Morning sleepy-head.

Bon'O~OMG.."Billy Mays here". Really, really obnoxious.

iteach~I agree with you about the Hallmark commercials. So loving and at times funny.

Mo~"Where's the beef" LOL At least she wasn't asking for bacon.

Do you remember Hair Club for men? "I'm not just the president, I'm also a client? Nasty. Go buy some Rogaine.

I really liked the little Geico lizard that would stand on the tree limb and flick something with his little finger, as he talked in a confidential way.

''AFLACK'' i REALLY CAN'T STAND THAT DUCK SCREAMING "AFLACK"

Gotta scroll some more and see who flew in.

I really like the way the Olympic Stadium was designed and named The Bird's Nest. Do ya think they read our blog? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good morning Tink. Hope you slept well.

Mo~Sounds like a fun time shopping with your cousin. Enjoy.

  22. Cricket...Cricket....

Wake-up everyone. Zona and Birdee cleaned all the party debri out of the nest, so we don't have to pretend we're sleeping.

  25. Good morning,

This is one of my favorite commercials, I'm posting it because I don't think everyone gets to see it (depends where you live).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7O693mzp6M

I have a busy morning but will post later. Have a nice day everyone!

    Congrats Birdee on being first!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Morning Glories!

    Birdeeeee! You got first!

Sometimes you feel like a nut, Sometimes you don't, Almond Joy's got nuts, Mounds don't....

This is a jingle I can't get out of my freakin head! I used to sing it under my breath when I was a customer service manager.

Great blog Zona! I know there are more but I will have to wake up a bit first!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good morning RONNIE, EBJ and LYNN D!

    Mmmm, Mounds bars!

RONNIE...you're not crazy because you talk to yourself!! How many syllables are in ALACK??? bwahahaha

    You deserve a break today!!

  28. Mornin' Iteach (you don't want to get me started on 'the news'),

Mo (yep, up early--smelled like rain, didn't want to miss it!),

Tink (no Butchart at night photos?)

Ronnie (wasn't the Opening Ceremony pure bliss?....so sad about a murder already.)

Still thinking about commercials....I love the talking California Cows. They remind me of Dave Barry cartoons come to life.

p.s. EBJ & LynnD~~There you are. **singing**Good Mornin', Good Mornin',..... (cereal commercial?)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Good Morning Ronnie, East Bay J and Lynn. Hope you are well after the big party yesterday.

I have so many commercials running through my head right now, I don't know where to start. I think through the years my overall favourites are by Coca Cola. In Vegas there is a Coca Cola building 4 stories high. It has everything you ever wanted to know (or not know) about the product, including a room where you can taste 49 different coke flavours. One room is like a little theatre showing all the commercials ever made by Coca Cola. I loved it so much I sat through the 15 minutes of ads two or three times. Of course the most famous was the "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" but there were so many others, particularly the Christmas ones that just warmed my heart. Right now I can't bring them into my fuzzy head but they will come to me before the day is over, I hope.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mo: Have fun with your niece today! I think when you get home you maybe saying Calgon take me away! LOL

Bono: Billy Mays should be outlawed! I cringe everytime I hear him shout on the TV, but we all know his name don't we.

That is really sad about Bernie Mac, way to young.

I just wish the media would leave the Edwards alone to deal with this in private. I can't even imagine what the stress of the situation is doing to Elizabeth.

Let's see another one that has hung with me over the years is..

Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce special orders don't upset us, have it your way.

And I agree the Burger King commercials are creepy to the max! I can't believe an ad agency is getting paid for that crap.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bonnie - I haven't had a chance to get my pictures up. There has been a lot going on in my family right now. I will get it done soon.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh I just had a flash on all of the cosmetic wrinkle creams and the made up names they use for the ingredients, like hyleronic and squiggle defense, pure aciflibridosis. Yeah ok I made up a few of those but you just know they made up the names in the ingredients to make it sound to good and scientific.

You know it is mostly water, sugar, animal fat, veggie fat etc... It drives me crazy! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love nearly all the commercials with kids and animals, except the Sarah Mc one. I cried the first three times I saw it. Now I won't watch it. I can only take so much sadness when it comes to helpless little animals. I have always loved the little white kittens playing with the toilet paper. I had always planned on buying one of those Chinchilla kittens with the black eye-liner. I have come to the conclusion it will never happen. Every few years it seems another little kitten shows up on my doorstep. I could never turn one away. I am resigned to the fact that I will never have a pure bred kitty. That okay. I love the multi coloured ones just as much. But aren't those little white kittens on the commercial the cutest little puff balls?

    ReplyDelete
  34. To me the worst commercial of all time has not been shown for years. Does anyone remember the ad for Longine watches that used to be shown for Mother's Day? It shows a man giving his wife a present. When he walks away the wife says, "I would rather have had a Longine". The most annoying part is the caption that is then shown, "Show her that you really love her. Give her a Longine". I would get furious every time it was on the T.V. Maybe enough people watching objected because it was only shown for a couple of years around Mother's Day. Then it disappeared.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Zona-my-Baby - I forgot to say how much I loved your idea for a blog. That little Oscar Mayer commercial is one of my all time favourites. They used different children singing that song but he was by far the best.

    ReplyDelete
  36. East Bay J - I just watched the clip you posted. It is so cute. We don't get that one here.
Another favourite of mine is the one for Disneyland. The little boy and his sister can't get to sleep because they are so excited. After the father makes them be quiet, the father whispers to his wife that he is so excited too. The little boy with the big brown eyes says, "I heard that".
Has anyone else seen that one? You have to see it to know how cute it is. Describing it does not do it justice.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I appear to be alone in the nest. I will come back later.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Great blog idea Zona! You've done it again!

Congrats on 1st Birdee! Missed you last night!

Good morning/afternoon to Bonnie, Iteach, Maureen, Tinka, Ronnie, EBJ and Lynn D!

  39. This is for all of the owls recovering from the party yesterday!

Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is....

Alka Seltzer rounds for everyone! LOL

Oh and I really hate the new Pepto commercials!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Most commercials with kids are cute. There was one about ketchup. The little boy was just sitting there dipping his french fries in ketchup but it was cute.

Unfortunately Tinka I have to disagree with you on the kitten commercials. My fear of cats prevents me from watching those commercials. I have to turn the channel. Sorry.

Remember the Clapper..."Clap on. Clap off"

    ReplyDelete
  41. The commercials that annoy me are the ones advertising some kind of medication, but the side affects are way worse than the problem you had to begin with!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Zona....love what you did in area 51. Great cleaning up and summing up the Owl's shenanigans! That was a big job- cleaning up all those tassels and water balloon remnants - when did you have time to write a blog?

And what a great blog it is! Like other Owls my favourites are the Hallmark ads. Sometimes I watch the movie, just so I can see the ads! The one with the older man who can't read and is going to night school to learn makes me cry every time!
    Take a look:
    www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRX7tdh1Ww4

And my least favourite is the one for Headon headache elixir...Headon: Apply directly to the forehead...Headon: Apply directly to the forehead...Headon: Apply directly to the forehead! Annoying!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks Vig, now I'll have that playing all day in my head. Lol!

    Good morning by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Shirley: I so agree with you about the drug commercials! Good Lord I listen to those and think, how the hell did those drugs make it through the drug screening. I am so sorry but I will never take a drug that may cause, oily discharge or even possible death! LOL

Vig: Yes the headon commercials! I forgot about those! Arrrrrgh it is like they think we all have ADD.

Sometimes I will count how many times they will say the name of a product in the ad. It drives me crazy because it feels like they are just hitting us over the head.

  48. Happy Saturday!

    Congrats on first, Birdee!

Zona, loved your blog, as always. I enjoy those Hillshire Farm commercials--they're catchy and funny. Go meat!

I hate any commercial where a guy YELLS! If they think I'm going to pay attention to that, they're wrong!!

I loved those old "whazzup" commercials!! Here's my favorite take on those!

Thanks for all the well wishes on my son's move yesterday. It went well and I'm still able to walk so I guess all is well! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  51. Good Morning Shirley, VIG, Mek, Sandi and Bebbi.

I have been watching the third season of Grey's. There are no commercials in DVD's so I must get back to focusing on T.V. ads.

VIG and Mek - I forgot about the Hallmark commercials. They are even better than the Coke ads because they have such "heart". The Christmas Hallmark movies are enhanced by their commercials I think. They are the only breaks in a movie that I really look forward to seeing. I don't think I have ever seen a Hallmark ad that I did not like.

Shirley - We have found an area where we strongly disagree. I have loved cats all my life. My mom loves to tell the story of how my arms were always covered with scratches when I was little. I was forever bringing home stray cats that didn't want to be carried. I would insist that they followed me home. I can't think of any time in my life that I did not own and love a cat. I even snuck one into an apartment that didn't allow pets. I eventually got caught when the cat sat up on the window sill. I moved immediately. I would not give up my kitty. Anyway Shirley, we do agree on a lot of things right?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Good morning to everyone. For some of you it is now afternoon. Sorry, I slept in. I feel better today than I did last night. I was feeling like I was coming down with a cold but I guess not. Yipee!

Birdee Congrats on first today. Thanks for helping to clean up after the party.

Zona Thanks to you, too. We really did leave the place in a big mess. We may still find dots of Custard in the most unexpected places.

Good job on today's blog, too. I'm drawing a blank at the moment except for commercials that other owls have already written about. In the early 70's when my son was a toddler, there was a commercial having to do with finances and loans. My son was captivated by the woman doing the commercial. She was pretty in a "girl next door" kind of way and had a very nice, sweet voice. Even from the other end of the house, if my son heard her come on the TV, he would come running out and stand about 2 feet in front of the screen and watch her the entire time, mesmerized.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ooops! I forgot to put away my party supplies. I'll be doing that now.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sandie - I am glad you can still walk. You really worked hard the last few days. We have the University of Victoria nearby so my 3 kids lived at home when they attended UVic. When my daughter moved to Vancouver to stay at the nursing residence I remember feeling so sad when we packed her up to leave. She was very homesick for the first three weeks. That made her leaving even worse.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Congrats on first birdee!

Zona: GREAT BLOG!! Haven't read comments yet, so people may have said this already. The ad I hate is:
"Head-on. Apply directly to the forehead."

    ReplyDelete
  56. HI Just-Lin - It's still mid morning here. I was involved in family affairs yesterday so I didn't really get to go to the party. I think I will go to area 51 now and see what I missed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Here is a question-

Are commercials a major influence on what products you buy?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Happy Saturday Owls.

Zona, This is a great topic. Everyone has an opinion on commercials. I haven't read the comments yet because I wanted to comment about my favorite before I read everyone else's.

I'm not sure everyone gets the California cheese commercials with the talking cows, but they are classic. My favorite is the one where two cows are waking up early talking about what they are going to do for the day. Then one says "we have plenty of time, hit the snooze" The next shot shows the rooster flying out the barn door. I am a simple person, and that cracks me up EVERY time.

Zona I love this topic. I am anxious to read everyone's comments.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Donna - You flew in while I was typing.

Have any of you seen the Doris Day, Rock Hudson movie, "Send Me No Flowers?" Rock plays a hypochondriac who is always dreaming about T.V. ads for different medications. It's really a good movie. I think I may watch it now when I go down for my nap.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Zonababy - Feel like some commercial nostalgia? Watch Mary Tyler Moore in her 1954 ad for Hotpoint Dishwashers.

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X0XCnzIl4U

I am off for my walk with my 'fur babies' and then Slim Fast and a nap. Same, same, same.

See you this afternoon. Great Blog Sweetie.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Zona - I forgot to mention that Mary Tyler Moore earned about $6000 for filming 39 Happy Hotpoint TV spots (in five days).
Just a bit of commercial trivia for you.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Good morning, owls!! What fun we had yesterday!!!

MEK: LOL! My first and only march!

Birdee: From A51: Thanks! Hope she enjoys it! IF you all agree to put up with it, I'll try to blog on these topics more regularly... if that's OK with everybody???

Zona: Two commercials come to mind. I wonder if anybody remembers the cheerios ads from the late 60's or early 70's??? Where the jingle was
"Feeling groovy, just had my cheerios. Groovy, grovey".

    LOVED those commercials!

And the other one was mentioned when we did this topic over on the Rossblog (it wasn't here, was it?) and I mentioned a Jack in the Box commercial from several years ago? It was the most absurd commercial for a fast food chain I've ever seen! Jack was heading a therapy session for a bunch of teenage girls, and at one point one of them looks at him and asks:

"How do you know if you're a lesbian"?

Jack just stares at her, speechless.

OMG it was funny. And then, I think it was Joey actually found the commercial on YouTube and sent me the link!!

I"ll go in there and find it now and post the link...

    ReplyDelete
  63. I still haven't gotten through all the comments, but I have to leave to have lunch with my oldest son and his family.

I love all the memories conjured up so far. Does anyone remember the cigarette commercials where a woman (I think it was Mary Tyler Moore) wore a big cigarette box and all we saw was her dancing legs? It was a very long time ago and I was VERY young. I can't remember the brand, but the commercial fascinated this young mind.

A big hello to everyone. Love you all. I gotta go. BBL

  64. Zona: GREAT party summary in A51.

You would love my cousin's seven pure bred cats. They are those long haired fluffy cats, Himalayan & Angora. They have such beautiful faces.
    Birdie
I so agree that the animal rescue commercial is so darn sad. Sometimes I get animal rescue bulletins and videos that are so sad that I just can't forward them.
    Wabbear
I hope you do more blogs on the universe. I find it fascinating and this time you used lamens terms so I understood it all. :0)
Okay, well I am off to do some shopping and then we have plans to go to dinner and watch a commercial free movie. Bawahaha! I'm sorry. I'm just not a commercial person.

  71. Hey y'all! Happy Saturday!!

    Congrats on 1st Birdee!

Great blog! I kinda love commercials lol..Always have..but there are some that ANNOY the crap outta me!!

The first one(maybe local) is to advertise that it's okay for young people to surf the internet, but also go outside and be active/healthy! The song goes "Get up get up get up, be a player get up get up get up"...I mute it everytime I hear it come on, but the song is embedded in my brain! lol

The second one, is the "I said a BEEF HOT LINK" lol..advertising the sausages..OMG it is SO annoying! lol

The last one that is really annoying is for the home improvement chain "Lowe's"...It features a husband/wife and she's on the deck...The screen door starts "talking" with this GAWD AWFUL annoying squeaking lol..I haven't seen it lately, so hopefully it's off the air!!

Whabbear, got your email and I just sent you the link!!

I hope your birthday was fantastic Carol..I see I missed a great party!

    ReplyDelete
  72. OMG I love the happy cow commercials!!

  74. Nominated in Canada for most annoying commercial at Christmas time.
Canadian Tire - "Shops like Santa, Saves like Scrooge." They start it at the beginning of November. You see it many times a day until you could throw something at the t.v.

  75. Zona~ what a great blog. I love commercials....it's why I watch the Super Bowl....just to see them~ I love the Oscar Meyer one and the Hallmark ones are tear jerkers. The ones that have cracked me up are the Budweiser ones....the frogs and the dog and horse. Too cute~ AND I love what UPS did with Dale Jarrett when he drove for them in NASCAR. The very last one made me cry...and you could see a tear in his eye, too~

Birdee~ congrats on first and thank you for cleaning up with Zona~

  77. Just flying through was watching beach volleyball and then the swimming preliminaries. Very interesting.

I also am bout to lose my mind the neighbor across the street has another buddy over and they have been running heavy equipment for the last two days. I want to go over and puncture the tires. How flat does the damn ground have to be?

Sorry I guess that was a rant:(

  79. Thank you, Joey!!

OK, courtesy of Joey, here's the link to what I think is probably the most bizarre commercial for a fast food chain I've ever seen! I LOVED it! LOL!

  80. Tina - I would never throw anything hard enough to break my T.V. I think next to Zona it's my BFF.

    Whabbear - I watched that L video. I don't get it!!!!

Iteach - Nice march to 100. It's grey and rainy here. I don't even feel like walking my babies.

  81. I'm back and I am stuffed. We ate at a Chinese buffet in honor of the Olympics. Bwaaahaahaa

Bon'O, Thanks for posting those links. I love those cows. There is another one where the cows think an earthquake is a foot massage that never lasts long enough.

I agree with those who are annoyed with Billy Mays. Why does he have to talk so loud. I always mute him. And also with those who are creeped out by that Burger King guy. ewwwwww

Mo, I can't watch that Sarah McLaghlin commercial. The first time I saw it, I cried.

Shirley, That was a funny clip. Thanks for finding it. Thanks again for all the fun yesterday.

Ronnie, I was thinking the same thing about the Olympic Stadium last night. How did they know?

LynnD, I see you have retired your Green M&M. Too many people eating your relatives???

EBJ, Love that commercial you posted the link for. That little kid is so cute.

Bear, I would love to hear more about our galaxy.

Iteach, In answer to your question, I don't think commercials influence me TOO much about what I buy. However, sometimes, if it is something I use, but another brand, I will try it because I have seen it advertised on TV.

I hope everyone is having a good evening. I have to leave again to go to Church. BBL

  82. Hi All! I finally caught up on comments. I'd like to say I've been busy today but, actually, I've slept the day away. I don't know what's wrong with me lately.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this blog!

birdee: My daughter & I will not watch that animal ad with Sarah McL singing. Too sad!

I agree with anyone who thinks that BK King is the creepiest thing ever! And the drug company ads get on my very last nerve.

EBJ: That commercial with the little boy was adorable!

Whabbear: Please continue to write more blogs!
That ad you & Joey alerted us to is super weird!

Vig: That Hallmark commercial pulled at my heart. I loved it!

Shirley: That was a hilarious video link you shared! LOL!

Bon'o: LOVED the cow ads! Thanks!

Sandie: My daughter & I laughed so hard at those little kids doing the Whazzup ad! Triple Loved it!

Tink: I always had stray cats when I was a kid too. And I still do.

iteach: Some commercials influence me, but most don't. What really works on me are those late night fast food ads. They definitely make me crave a hamburger, milkshake or something bad for me. However, I don't know if I've ever actually gone out and got something to eat after watching one of those ads. I usually just raid my own cabinets.

  83. Let us not forget the Always commercials that tell us to "have a happy period." WTF!!!! Obviously made by a man!

    ReplyDelete
  84. ROFLMAO@Shirley!! That reminds me..Why do we need commercials for "genital herpes" creams and crazy stuff like that?haha..WTH!?

Glad you got the link whabby!

    ReplyDelete
  85. HA! @ a "Happy Period"! That's why I've been such a lazy grump these past few days! Not the ad. The other.

  88. Donna - Thanks for finding the "Like to Teach the World to Sing" commercial. It made me cry as it brought back such memories. Actually I liked the second one you found ("The Christmas One") the best. It's the one that ends up with a Christmas tree.

Did you get a lot of scratches from kitties when you were small too?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yes, Tinka, I was scratched all the time! And little did I know, back then, that I was allergic to cats AND dogs! We ALWAYS had dogs when I was young. My Pug slept right by my head! I was always sick as a child and now I know it was just allergies. The scratches from the kitties would always swell and itch, and then I'd have to hide it from my mom because she wouldn't let me keep the cats. I did, however, try to keep them in our garage, which was my playhouse. They would usually move on to someplace else. I now have 5 cats and I'm on allergy meds so I can keep them.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Donna - You are very brave to have 5 cats when you have an allergy. Those meds must really work. My grandson is allergic and he has had shots. Sometimes, however, he does get "choked up" from the cat dander in the air when he spends the night here.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Some cats do still bother me, and even mine cause some itchy eyes at times, but I think my Allergist and I have decided that I've become immune to my own. I was on shots for 13 years and just recently have been trying to do without them.

  92. Bebbi, I always wondered what your real name was and now I know!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I've been going over the past year of blogs this evening while my hubby is at his poker game and my daughter is busy on the other computer. I've made it to April. Gosh, I really regret not coming here sooner! Great blogs everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Just flying through. I really enjoy watching the Olympics.

Bebbi LOL that you accidentally signed your real name. Sincerely, Linda

DonnaHart I'm sorry you didn't join us sooner, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Donna~Glad you're here NOW! Here's an idea for you...why not write a blog (or two or three) for us with your thoughts about some past blog topics? It's never too late!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I am off to bed to watch some more of Grey's season three.
I will leave you with a Hallmark commercial from 1981. Do you recognize Nancy McKeon from
    "Facts of Life"?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgiZmdJocdc

Good Night and God Bless us all.
    Love, Tinka

  97. Thank you Just lin and Bon'o! Gosh, where would I even begin?! These blogs have been fantastic! I actually had a couple of ideas for a blog but didn't want to submit it until I saw if it had been done already. Sure enough, one of them had been. Well, sort of. It was along the same lines of what I was thinking of. iteach had written it about teachers. I thought it might make a good blog with back-to-school time coming up. I'm still searching to see if my other idea has been done. But the more I read, the more I KNOW I can not write like some of you! Reading all these past blogs has actually made me shy about writing one now.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Go for it Hart!

BTW, getting through the blogs is one thing. Have you gotten through all the COMMENTS? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I meant to mention that I'm not even trying to read the comments. Maybe another time.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hart Please don't be shy about writing a blog. To my knowledge, no one here is a professional writer. Just write your thoughts as they occur. Speak to us as if we were all sitting around the table together, each with our beverage of choice. :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. No disrespect to anyone, but my memory is not good anymore.

Go ahead and blog about something we already did Donna, because it will probably look new to me anyway. lol

    ReplyDelete
  102. Shoot, you could do one that I even wrote about and I wouldn't even remember that I wrote one too on that subject.

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  103. Whabbear Please write more blogs. I find them very interesting and I appreciate the education. :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. lol iteach~ I agree with you....Hart....write whatever you want...we'll read it...and we'll like it~ and they all look brand new to me, too~

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hubby, has strep throat!! It has been a long day here.

I hope he feels better tomorrow or I'm moving in with one of you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  106. iteach...i'm not home, so you can have my spot in my bed in UT~ :)~

    love you too~

    ReplyDelete
  107. Hi Everyone...Well, the commercial that I don't like are the ones for Sonic. I think those two guys are very annoying. My husband thinks they are funny. We don't have a Billy Mays here.

ZONA: This blog topic was a good and fun idea today. I have been reading off and on all day.

ZONA AND BIRDEE: You both did a good job cleaning up. WHABBY: We don't have a lot of money in the treasurey so hopefully MARY/MI will be able to pay for us...remember, she won all those quarters!!

MO: How did you like the movie? I have been twice now. I went with my friend when it opened and then took my granddaughters and daughter one night last week. I love it and all the music. It is a good feel good movie and those are needed sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Zona- every product that I look at today, I stop and think about their commercial! :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Oh, I'm sorry about your husband. Hope he feels better very soon, for the sake of BOTH of you!

Hi Tina! I just finished reading the blog you wrote back in June about your dad. That was such a wonderful blog. I wish I had a close relationship with my dad. You are very blessed. How is he doing?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hey, did anyone talk about all the Viagra commercials, those are a hoot!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I have never written a blog either. I have a topic in mind but also feel like all of you write so well.

JUST/LIN: Maybe I could do it the way you mentioned..just sitting around the table drinking!

Good thing SACBARB and ZONA aren't roaming around right now because the Broncos just lost to Houston. Now RONNIE AND DREAMA will probably be sending me a Houston Texan shirt. Good thing this is only practice season right now.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think those Enzyte commercials with "Bob" are annoying. You're not talking about those, are you iteach?

    ReplyDelete
  113. Maybe sometime we could write about that state we live in.

I would like to learn more about the states.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Hart, I don't think I have heard of that commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  115. TINA-NOT-IN-UTAH: How nice of you to share your husband with ITEACH. That is what I like about everyone here...we all share (except J/L with Custard).

I just thought of another commercial I don't care for: the one that the woman says, "I have herpes" and then the man says, "I don't".

    ReplyDelete
  116. I just thought about all the American Express commercials, I just loved them.

Especially the one a long time ago with Jerry Seinfeld.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Been watching the movie Breakdown on DVD. No idea why, as it scared the crap out of me the first time. Then, it came up in a blog once, and I had to buy it to remember why it scared me..... but have the other TV on mute to catch swimming soon.

Iteach~~So sorry about Dean being sick. LOVE Ellen's American Express commercials.

Dianne-so-lucky-in-Denver~~How do you get to miss big-mouth Billy Mays advertising everything under the sun?? All for just $19.99 of course.

We've been watching the olympics tonight........ GO USA!!!

I'm going to make a quick fly in and wish everyone an excellent Sunday!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  126. Ok BONO AND J/L, I know you are both my age. Am I the oldest? My next bday is in November..Who is the oldest of the two of you?

J/L: I never thought you would put my name with the words of losing and Broncos. You know my loyal feelings to this team...even without John Elway :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. Dianne~~I think I'm the 'baby'.

and, what's a Bronco? btw, the SEAHAWKS killed the Vikings Friday night!

Niters, all. Have a great Sunday.

I had to run errands most of the day yesterday and then Mr Z needed the computer..or I would have been in the nest commenting with everyone. It is hot here..and humid...but I'm not complaining! LOL!! Off to bed I go...night all!!
