How dare she!

I saw a video that Sandra Bernhard has on the net. When I watched it I was warned it was about Sarah Palin and it was graphic, however my curiosity got the best of me, so I clicked on the arrow and onto the video I went.

My first reaction was "no way" and then "oh my", and then "how dare she!"

Her words are cruel, and hurtful, they are not funny, however in the back round you hear laughter, as she presents each line the laughter gets louder, and my anger rises. She calls Sarah awful names, names that are not deserving. She does this very matter-a-factly, like she knows it to be truth. I really don't care that this is suppose to be a comedic routine, as it is not, it spews venom and you can see it in her face.

What gives these celebrities/comedians the right to be so cruel and so very vocal about their hate towards a candidate in this presidential election. Who gave them the right to bash anyone in this election, who crowned them judge and jury.

Comedic routine is fine when put forth in a intelligent manner, as in the SNL skit. Or on late night talk shows during the monologue. I am accepting of all the digs and remarks, as they are not bashing, just making points in a comedic way.

Neither of the four candidates deserves any words spit out by Sandra Bernhard. Actually nobody deserves her words. How anybody could find her routine funny is beyond me. It really makes me sad, that people would laugh instead of getting up and walking out. Anyone running for a presidential position should not be spoken about in this way, these people will be our leaders. And we as Americans have the right to vote for anyone of them, and whomever gets the more votes, us as Americans have spoken, and what shall be shall be.

This comedic hate should not be. Sandra Bernhard is nobody, other than a bad comedian taking her plight to a whole different level. Shame on her as a American. America gave her what she is today, and yes Freedom of Speech is a right we all breathe for. However it is a right that some of these celebrities/comedians take way to far.

I will promise this. Whomever wins, I will respect and honor, as my President. As the teaching of my elders have been instilled in me, and I for one, am proud to be a American, no matter who my President is.

I refuse to post the video here, or in the comment section, I will not give it any merit. Anyone can find it, it is there, if so be it, you just need to look.

Sandra Bernhard you said it first, and now its my turn, to you I say "Bitch" go spew your venom at Osama bin Laden, or did you just happen to forget what he did.

  3. cpgem - I just read your blog and I say...

    DITTO!!!!

I have not and will not watch a video like this..... as the bashing has gotten WAY out of hand!!

I agree about comedians and their not so funny routines.. Mr. MEK and I walked out of Don Rickles - the venue had mailed out FREE tickets - it wasn't even worth 'free'!!

cpgem - thank you for your words today!!!

    Hart - good morning...

  4. Morning All!

Carol..I have not seen the video you reference in your blog and based on your description I will not see it. I so agree with you about some celebrities going too far, and not just about politics. Remember When Sarah Silverman called Britney Spears little boys "accidents"? Or when she trashed Paris Hilton at the VMA's when Paris was IN the audience? I have no love lost for Paris, but what she said about her was just awful and people CHEERED! I Felt so bad for her that night, I just turned the TV off.

  5. WOW! I just listen to the song on yesterdays blog..I am a Pink fan, but had never heard this song. I will be adding it to my Ipod!! What a beautiful showcase for her voice and what a very true statement. Thanks for sharing it Carol.

  6. Morning Glories!

    MEK an early Owl again!

    Hi Hart and Scrishy!

Carol I have not seen the video you write about and will not see it as I have never liked Sandra Bernhard. Not my cup of tea.

But I am also continually appalled by things like boxes of Obama Waffles being sold at the Family Values forum where Mitt Romney spoke. Yes the box had him wearing a turban and to point it east for fast rising. etc...

A family member sent a bulletin out this weekend where she called Barak Obama a filthy Animal. I responded to this and let her know that she is just spewing hate and carrying it forward.

I want to hear from the candidates themselves on facts and policy issues. How they have goverened in the past and how they will govern in the future. That is all that matters.

As far as showing respect because they are running for office. I will show respect when they respect me enough to address the real concerns of the people. Not the same old stump speech.

Right now and I know some of you will jump on me about this, I am proud to be an American, but not proud of our government in any way and how they have represented me to the world. I will never follow any politician blindly even if they are the President. It seems this is how we end up in the messes that will take generations to undo. IMHO

Tinka I am very worried about you this morning and will be thinking about you and your Mom all day.

  7. foaded- thats a bummer

Anyway, good morning hooters, congrats on 1st MEK.

I had a long post about the comedy routines, but will now just say I don't like Sandra Bernhard and I don't like that kind of comedy.

Hope eveyone has a good day.

  8. MEK Good morning, Sunshine! Congrats on #1 again!

Carol I have not seen the video, either, and I will not look for it. She has always been harsh but she has gotten worse, the older she gets. It seems she doesn't censor herself at all and that is not a good thing. She just spews ugliness, not comedy.

  9. Good Afternoon Everyone,

I agree with all of you so far, I DO NOT care for Sandra Bernhardt, never did, she has a filthy mouth, plus she looks filthy and unkept. Shes just down right nasty.

I am taking my mother today to the neurosurgeon, (hopefully he will do her surgery and soon) Her lung doctors appointment went well. Thank Goodness. She can't even walk any more hardly, its getting very, very hard for her. I just pray that this surgery works.

I am also asking for your prayers for my son Anthony, he needs all the prayers he can get right now. My husband and I are trying to decide what to do with him, I don't feel like discussing it, plus I don't know how to put it into words, These past 4 months it seems I'm stuck in this dark tunnel and everytime I see a little light something else happens and its black again. Maybe later on today, after DWTS (I so need that tonite to forget about everything) I will post a blog on this situation.

    Thank you everyone!!!!!

  10. Happy Monday Owls.

MEK, another early day for you. I hope you are getting enough sleep. I have never liked Don Rickles and I wouldn't have gone to his show even for free. I think he is just plain mean.

Carol, I have not seen the video you referenced and I will not look for it. I don't usually look on you tube unless someone directs me to a particular video. I agree about some of the comedians using their celebrity to bash others. As far as the late night talk show hosts, they usually give equal time to all the politicians and don't pick on just one to bash. But I wouldn't walk across the street to see Sandra Bernhard or Sarah Silverman.

Tinka, Hoping you are feeling better and sending up healing prayers for your Mom.

Good morning to Scirish, LynnD, Goldie, Just_Lin, Renee (keeping Anthony in my prayers) and all others who land later.

  13. I was so fed up when I saw the Sandra video on Sarah, that I wanted to spit venom.. It just angers me so, and the anger rises daily..

I agree with SacBarb, don't like Sarah Silverman either...

I did not watch the Emmys last nite, cause I did not want to hear any of the celebrity's talk about the war/politics while at the podium. I have heard some did just that, so I am glad I did not watch it.

  14. Renee Eve:
So sorry about your son Anthony, sometimes kids just can't find themselves. And in todays day and age, it just makes is so much harder, it is so competitive, and the peer pressure must be so overwhelming.

  20. Renee Eve I'm sorry you are going through a rough time with your son. My son and I hit a rough patch when he was about 15.
We got through it though and he grew up to be a really nice guy.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hello....things seem pretty quiet here today. I want to send good thoughts out to TINKA and her mom and family. I am thinking about you.

RENEE EVE: I am sorry you are having problems with your son. I can agree with JUSTLIN...teen or pre-teen years are not too fun but believe both of us...they do turn into great adults! I know things are so different now raising children then when I was raising them. Again, positive thoughts to you.

CAROL: I agree with you about not being hateful in "comedy". I think Leno and SNL, etc., are funny but I don't think those awful mean things should be said about anyone! I haven't listened to the clip you mentioned and won't but I am not too crazy about the political jokes on email. I have a brother that thinks he is funny and I just delete...regardless of the party. I will be glad when the election is over and hopefully, things will start getting better for all of us..at least the political ads won't be on TV anymore!!

Funny some of you mentioned Don Rickles. He won an Emmy last night.

MEK: Hope you are getting rest and not running yourself down...nap..remember nap!!!

SACBARB: How did that team do yesterdaY? JUSTLIN: I did see your team won. I want all of you to win unless you are playing us. Well, maybe not the Raiders, KC, SD since we are in the same division. BONO: Did that player we sent you this week help out? We were able to have lots of shots during the game yesterday!! I am telling all of you, JODI is our good luck charm!!

  23. Hmmmm, I thought someone might jump in while I was writing my long posts but so far....no. SHIRLEY, where the heck are you? How are those glasses working out by now?

Today is my husband's birthday. We went out on Saturday night to celebrate and today he had to go to the dentist and have a post put in his gum for an implant. I would never do that on my birthday but he did. I guess his bday dinner will be soup tonight.

  24. Dianne Happy Birthday to the Mr. No, I would never go to the dentist on my bday, either.

  25. Happy Monday Afternoon/Evening Everyone!

Yes, CAROL, I totally understand your blog today! People (so called Comedians) use that excuse to say terrible things about so many people. Sometimes on the View, Joy Behar will say just that! That Comedians have the "right" to say whatever they want, just because it is all in the name of "Comedy"! I sooooo disagree.

I must say though, today on The View, former President Clinton was just AWESOME!!! I was so happy to hear his clear, precise explanation of many of the topics in this election that I am unclear about. And he was NOT negative about the Republican Party or it's Nominees. He showed true Respect and Dignity!! I so wish HE could run again!!! (I don't care about the Monica L thing, he was a GREAT President) of course, that's just MHO!!!

    On totally different subjects,
YAY, DWTS starts tonight!!! And almost all my favorite ABC shows are premiering this week!

Miss Laurie is doing well. So far, life is good in our household! Her infection is under control with the Keflex, and she hasn't exhibited any of the horrible side effects that my daughter Aimee had from that drug. Thank Goodness!

Laurie turned 29 yesteday. (Thank You SACBARB, she got her card today)!! It is very hard to realize that my "baby girl" will be 30 next year! Where oh where do the years go? I still feel inside like a young girl, but the mirror wakes me up!

RENEE EVE~ I send to you, your family and especially your son Anthony, much love, encoragement and prayers. As Carol mentioned earlier, sometimes kids just don't know what to do with themselves. This world is so much harder to grow up in, than what we "oldsters" had to deal with.

Like many, I also had very serious problems with my middle daughter. She finally had to hit bottom, get into rehab, and now 6 years later, she is doing very well. Married, great job, and a beautiful little baby girl. So, my dear friend, RENEE EVE, there is light at the end of the tunnel. It just takes time, heartache, and then perseverance, patience and love. My thoughts are with you.

TINKA~I also send you much love and lots of ((HUGS)). Hope Mom is healing, and that you are feeling better.

Well, it's time to get Laurie her afternoon snack, and watch some mindless TV with her!

    Peace and Love to All,
    Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth

    ReplyDelete
  26. DONNAJEAN: I am so glad to hear that Laurie is feeling better. Please give her a Happy Birthday hug for me. It is hard to watch our "babies" turn older...as it then means we are too!! My husband is almost a year younger than I am but today we are the same age for a month and a half...so I like to remind for this short time as he always reminds me he is younger!!

Ok...time to see what kind of soup MrD wants for his "special" dinner.

  27. Hi Hooters!

Before moving to today's TOTD and posts, I digress to Iteach's Saturday Internet Addiction? blog....

OMG! In anticipation of a new week and a new season, I resolved last night to actually turn OFF my computer, something I NEVER do. My thinking was that I'd actually get up and go for an Autumn walk and do a chore or two before going online. Long story short, no HiSpeed DSL internet access when I rebooted this a.m., so I've spent most of the day:
    *trying to get it back,
*worrying about my SIL, still in rapid decline on home hospice in Tulsa and unable to see my daily a.m. update on her, and worrying about Owl friends and family members.
*unable to conduct normal online life activities and communications.

I was just about to run to the library to get online. The last time I remember feeling such desperation, I was a smoker having a panic attack in the dead of night with no smokes...frantically scrounging under the car seats for one that might have escaped! :o)

So, addicted? Uh, Yeah...I think so.

After a little deep breathing, I'll bbl.

    ReplyDelete
  28. DONNA JEAN - Happy Birthday to Miss Laurie!! I hope her infection is clearing up.

DIANNE - Glad that I can be your "good luck charm"!!! I just wish I could get to watch all the games!!! Thanks for the updates by text!!

    MEK - Congrats on first!!!

CAROL - Not a big fan of Sandra....and I will not be watching the video that you were referring to. SNL does a great job with the political humor, as does most of the late night hosts....they at least pick on everyone!!!

  29. DIANNE - Almost forgot....Happy Birthday to MR. D!!! I hope he enjoys his birthday soup!!!

  34. BONO: That is funny about you looking for the smokes. I am sure it wasn't too funny then. How is your SIL doing? I guess that will teach you not to turn your computer off. Isn't it funny the games we play with ourselves? If I waited to get things done around here before I got on the computer...you would never see me again! :)

JODI: Thanks for the birthday wishes for my husband. The problem here is I didn't go to the dentist and I am starving!!

  42. LYNND: I forgot to thank you yesterday fo the list of the debates. I have already marked them all on my calendar. I am anxious to watch all of them. I am sure this will give the comedians ever more ammunition! Remember, I would like to come to your party and I will bring some butterscotch schnapps...hmmmm, I am thinking of the phrases now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Carol I agree, Stouffer's mac and cheese is yummy. I have some in my freezer right now. I like to have it with the Stouffer's stuffed peppers. That's a very easy dinner.

Dianne Tonight I am making a very easy dinner: Buitoni's Chicken and Garlic Ravioli with Buitoni's Tomato Herb Parmesan Sauce (both in the refrigerator section). I am also steaming some asparagus and making a simple dill sauce to put on them. Very, very easy dinner.

  44. Evening all!

I am in a dither! I have been called a stupid dumbass in an email by a DIL because I called her out on her racist statement. Oy Am I pissed? No I have decided I am not. I cannot get mad at ignorant people it will give me wrinkles! Do I want to force her to learn how to read and then apologize to my black son in law and grandchildren? Yes I do but there is no point.

So this stupid dumbass has decided I have done the right thing and I stand by my statement and the calling out!

DonnaJean: Happy Bday to Laurie belated but still heartfelt! I am so glad to hear she is doing much better.

Dianne party girl in Denver bring your bottle and write up your phrases! It should be a good drunk! LOL Tell Mr. D Happy Birthday to him. (sung in a Marilyn Monroe breathy whisper).

Renee Eve I feel for you. Your son has hit the hard age. I am wishing your family the best.

I will check back for any word from Tinka.

I wonder if Zona will be rolling drunk when she gets off the plane? LMAO

I am off to make my dumbass self a drink!

  49. Carol~~I'll pass on the video. Not a huge fan of Sandra, and I'm finding politics and most humor mutually exclusive lately. I love good satire, but really tired of all the schlock, including some of the actual 'discourse' from the candidates. Frankly, I'm surprised either party actually wants to enherit this mess!

DonnaJean~~So glad Laurie Elizabeth's better and Happy Birthday to her. Just got the 'Dog Tricks' interactive email. That is adorable to the nth degree!

Jodi~~HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TOMORROW~~And belated thanks for both the call and the phone-pic yesterday!

MEK and Renee Eve~~Having gone through the very different stresses you're going through, I can only say "One day at a time". Anything beyond that is just too hard.

-----more coming, got some catching up to do----

  50. Good evening feathered friends1

I have a silly Stouffer's story. First, Stouffer's is made right here in a Cleveland suburb ;)

I made my mom a 75th birthday party. One of her favorites was the Stouffer's veggie lasagna. So, I went to the Stouffer's store and bought a couple of the big trays of it. This little old lady came up and asked me for the directions to make the lasagna, that it was the best she ever had!

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.

Oh, and LYNN D...you are NOT a dumb-ass. Have the drink, you deserve it dear.

I proceeded to tell her to:
    1. Get in the car
    2. Head down Warrensville to Cedar and turn left. Take Cedar to the freeway and head south. Exit at Harper. Make a right and then a right into the Stouffer's parking lot.
After she looked at me like a doe in headlights, she burst out laughing! She actually thought I made that myself! Well, I did heat it up! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. BON - Thanks for the Anniversary wishes!!! I have the day off, so me and the MR. are having lunch together. I'm glad you enjoyed the fall pic I sent you....when I was driving in Madison yesterday and saw some of the colors I immediately thought of you!!! So good to talk to you, too. :D

  52. crap...my post was totally screwed up! oopsies...i think you can get my drift!

    ReplyDelete
  53. LynnD I can't believe your DIL would talk to you like that! And what's with the racist comment when she's part of a blended family. She's the one that is a dumb ass. Do you think Obama's canidacy has brought out hidden prejudice? It certainly reared its ugly head between Custard and I. He doesn't think he's racist, by the way.

  54. Evening Everyone...I just got home from Utah about 30 minutes ago. There was a very sad message on my answering machine. TINKA asked me to tell everyone that her beloved mother passed away this morning. She is absloutely devestated...and will not be on the blog or answering messages for a while.

She also wanted everyone to know how much all of your thoughts, prayers and loving comments, both here in the nest and on myspace, have meant to her.

TINKA: I love you...and I wish I could give you the biggest hug right now. Please know that I am thinking of you always and I'm so very, very sorry for your loss.

Knowing these will be hard days ahead for Tinka, we can only take comfort in knowing that she had, in the past few days, acknowledged that this was the best possible scenario. May she be buoyed by many intertwined owl wings.

Carol I have not had a drink but I think I may be woozy did you say I have a cute ass? Haven't heard that in a long time.

Jodi: Early Happy Anniversary! Party at Hodi's!

J/L I do think this political race has brought out hidden prejudices and she just doesn't get it either. I don't know Mr. Lynn D and I are mystified. I just hope she thinks twice next time.

Mo: I will proudly say I am on occasion a dumbass. But I am not stupid!!!!

Tina and Zona it sounds like you guys had a great time. I am so glad that you got Zona to come to your home for a visit!

Ok I am going to veg for awhile and try to put life in perspective before I hit the sack.

  69. Mo:
Funny story, I probably would have read her the directions off of the box, very clever/witty to give her the directions to the place where they make them. Do Ohioan's get a discount?

  70. Speaking of witty, where is our Shirley...

  71. I gotta tell ya, these handsome black dudes on DWTS have rhythm..

  73. Hi All!

Congrats again on first Mek, you are on a roll.

Renee Eve: Sorry to hear about you and your son having problems. That is so hard to deal with. Been there and done that.

CPGem: I think it is just awful that women are called the B word and are judged on their mothering, clothing, etc and not their ability to lead. I did mention how I heard about all the good things that Sarah Palin was doing in Alaska long before she was nominated. My boss sat in meetings with her and she really REALLY cares about fixing OLD issues. I wish I could tell you all the details but it is confidential information.

Well, I walked over 10,000 steps tonight and I have lost 21 lbs now! ..wooo hoo! I am so happy. I am doing stuff that I only dreamed of doing a few weeks ago. I can breathe better, my knees hurt less, I have more energy and I am excited about the world again. It helps to be thinner. ;)

Take care all and I will bbl, I missed DWTS because I had to finish at my mom's house, packing it up. It is all ready for the movers to come (for the second time) tomorrow. :)

    BBL to check in.

  74. This is both a sad and wonderful world in which we live.

Sadness for everyone who is undergoing trials and heartache.

Happiness for those whose family and friends have been ill or had health issues, but overcame them and are well on the road to recovery.

That is the way of life.
As the BYRDS sang, ( taken from the BIBLE) "To Everything There is a Season", "A time to laugh, a time to cry, a time for living, a time for dying".

For our beloved TINKA, I wish you love, and wonderful memories of your beloved Mother. May those memories that you cherish, bring you some comfort during this terrible time.

Please rest assured you are in the hearts and minds of all your friends, actually your cyber-family, here on the nest.

Take all the time in the world that you need to grieve. Because grieving is part of the healing process. Sometimes, grieving can last for years. And that is OK. I still grieve for my lost loved ones, especially my beloved husband, Larry. And, even though I lost my own Mother over 52 years ago, when I was only 6, I still grieve for her.

Tears wash the soul. They are actually very good for you. So cry my dear TINKA as much as you want to. And I will add my own tears to yours.

Sleep will come, the heartache that your body feels will heal eventually, but the love you have for your dear Mother will remain FOREVER.

Prayers, love, and my thoughts are with you, Dear Sweet Pink Tink.

    Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
