Three Things?

slow day for words, they are not forming
i had a long day, and a long night, so its
empty, words cannot be.....

i will offer a question that was given to
me today, that i had to think about before
i answered....

if you were sent to a deserted island for one year
and allowed to take only three
personal belongings what would they be?

  2. Morning Glories!

    Hi Scrishy! You got first!

Carol three things?? I will have to think about that and post later not sure yet.

Vig wonderful blog yesterday! I have to say the only two teachers who stand out in my mind were teachers that negatively impacted me and yes I remember both their names. But I did learn from them,

The man who, in Hindsight was a true sexist. He was a math teacher and ridiculed any girl who asked a question. I was miserable that year. I learned from him that no question is a stupid question, there are just stupid teachers.

The other was a my 4th grade teachers that made it her mission everyday to make sure that everyone in class knew that my hair was not combed and sometimes I was late and sometimes had the same clothes on from the day before. It took me failing math for her to call my father in for a conference. That is when she found out that my mother had passed away and I was getting myself and brother ready for school each day as Dad had to go to work.

Well boy she did a 180! I learned from her never to judge a book by it's cover and to stop and realize there may be more going on than you or I know about!

So not great teachers but I learned valuable lessons anyway.

DonnaJean: Wishing Laurie the best and saying prayers for a safe proceedure and speedy recovery!

Hope everyone has a great day!

  14. Swooping in for just a sec ... got a very busy day ahead.

  17. Happy Wednesday Owls.

Scirish, Congrats on first. Bug spray is a good idea.

I'm not sure what I'd bring, but for sure books would be on the list. Could scrapbooking supplies be lumped into one category? Probably not! I will have to think about what else I'd bring.

A big HELLO to LynnD, Mary Mich, Goldie, MEK, Zona, Shirley, Outatuune and all who land later.

I am going to be out all day again, so I hope you all have a great day. BBL

  18. Hmmm, my HAGD posted twice. I swear didn't hit the publish button twice so I guess either blogger had a hiccup or the universe wants everyone to have a double-y nice day today.

And what's up with MS? I keep getting an IE error and then the windows shuts down completely.

I think the entire electronic community has some conspiracy against me. Yesterday it was the copier and scanner. First my document was too big to scan and when I broke it down into smaller parts and found someone who could merge 3 pdfs into one for me it was still too large to email. The scanner I always use and never have any problem with also proceeded to scan my 125 page document SIDE-ways!

When making copies of said document, the copier decided to "group" my copies instead of collating. So I had two copies of page 1, then two copies of page 2, etc., instead of 2 complete documents. When I looked at the finisher settings, it was set to collate so go figure why it didn't do that. Needless to say, it was fun putting those together in the right order.

The electronic scale at my WW meeting last night said I lost eight-tenths of a pound. I hope at least that was right.

Maybe somewhere, somehow, I unknowingly stood too close to some gigantic energy field or something. Does anybody remember the episode of ER when all kinds of weird things were happening to E.Ray and they had to do a MRI to straighten him out? That's how I feel this last two days, LOL!

Anyway, the reason I was going to MS in the first place ... Carol, if I have some business to throw your way, how does one contact you professionally?

Okay, back to the 125 page document that I still need to get distributed....

  19. Good morning Sunshines!!!

Tinka...my neighbour lady! Hope today is a better day and you are feeling muchly improved today! Feel better soon!

CPGEM...From area 51...thanks Carol for your very nice words about yesterday's blog! You are very kind! Thank you, thank you, thank you as always for all that you do!!!

Lynn_D...sorry your memories of your teachers aren't positive ones but it says alot about you that you were able to pull good lessons for yourself out of those experiences. And it is all about the lessons learned however that might be!

My three to have on an Island.....
!. Endless supply of Cheetos (although MEK's fudgie Oreos sound like a valuable item for an Island as well!!!)
    2. Big box of books
    3. My piano (or perhaps a more portable item to play music on!!!)

  20. Barb, LMAO @ the scrapbooking supplies. I think whatever you can cram into one bag should count as one because we need ALL of it, right?

I just returned from a fabulous weekend crop at an Embassy Suites near my home. They had the best prizes and the location was fantastic! There was even a Starbucks within walking distance.

I didn't win any of the raffles but I did win a prize for traveling the least distance. I think our house is all of 3 miles from this place but I splurged and stayed in the hotel so I could sit and crop in my PJ's until 3am if I wanted to. Of course I never made it that far.

There's a big crop coming up in Concord in March that I'm considering next:
    http://scraptaculargetaways.com/

And this is the one I just returned from:
    http://www.scrappinescape.com/HOME.html

    I just love scrapbooking getaways!

    Bebbi
glad to hear that your power is back on. I had several relatives there in KY that went through that ordeal with no power also. I had a friend in Indiana that went through the flooding and other relatives in Ohio that went through high winds and rain.
**If anyone is interested in giving to the Red cross then now is the time to do it**.

  73. Assuming people don't really count as "things", I've watched enough Survivor to think I better take flint, a fishing pole, and a machete.

    ReplyDelete
  74. LynnD I meant to tell you that I think that lady teacher learned a lot more from you than you did from her. She's probably been thankful for the lesson ever since.

  80. The only time I have been foaded and it happened when it's been an effort to type.

    My foaded post said.

    Good Afternoon/Evening Owls.
I just woke up and thought I would check in. I don't know if I am cheating but I think allowances should be made for the old and sickly.

    My three things -

ONE DOG CRATE - to carry my "fur babies".

ONE CASE - of Slim Fast powder. I assume there is drinking water.

ONE DOWN COMFORTER - wrapped around my down pillow and favourite bear.

That's it for me today. I will read comments and check myspace tomorrow. Thanks for the well wishes. I am going back to bed.
    Love, Tinka

I have been walking but have not been feeling well with the stupid pre-menopausal CRAP and the power out, things have gotten me off schedule. I have had a stupid headache three days running and it has just been a funky week!

I am only stopping by for a sec, I have to walk about 1100 more steps to make my 7000 today.

My mom is moving and I am going to walk over to her new place and see how it's going. I have lost 18 lbs now. :) Take care and be well all. I will be back!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Good evening everyone....

Great question, Carol, and congrat's on your march to 100!

I'm so enjoying the answers...very enlightening. Ha!
(Goldie, I can so relate to the lip gloss.)

This is really a tough question and I'm thinking in a
survival mode, and because my loved ones are forever etched
into my heart, forget the pictures.

    My list would include:

    1.) Rod and reel
    2.) Machete
3.) Unlimited supply of bath soap

Cleanliness goes a long way when you're hot, tired and dirty.

I have a wonderful idea! Why don't we all just go to
this island together and share? Just please don't
anyone bring any non-perishable canned goods, like Potted Meat, whatever that mush is. I have so had it with all that kind of stuff.

    Very interesting , Carol.

    ReplyDelete
  90. sweetpea~ you can keep your rod and reel and machete, but i will trade you a night with each of my guys for a bar of soap! :)~

    ReplyDelete
  91. Jodi,
Your dinner sounds delish. I love meatloaf.

Mo, I guess all the smokers could just sit down-wind from you with all those cigarettes. Ha!

Being from Texas, and permitted to carry a consealed weapon, I don't feel the need to bring a little snub-nose 38, unless I need to defend myself, which I rather doubt. Not too much scares me, except the lack of enough bait.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Thank you Tina, Your main man in your avatar will fit just fine. If you use up all the soap, then I'll use him up too.

    DEAL!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm off to watch Project Runway, but will be back as soon as it's over.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Jodi, you have been one busy gal today. I did much of what you did, except for the going to work part! lol! I almost forgot what it was like to balance work, hubby time, kid time, cooking, cleaning shopping...
I am wearing myself out just thinking about it! I bow to all of you who are doing this. I am happy to be enjoying my retirement. It's a wonder any of us make it that far lol!! I would bow more but Mr. Arthur Ritus is settling in.

    ReplyDelete
  95. TINA: Night after night of George, Johnny, Antonio...and only sand to lay down in, or a palm tree to lean up against...you're damn sure gonna wish you had some of my aspirin...jus' sayin'... ;)

CPGEM: Oh..I'd just swallow it whole, of course... ;)

    JODI: Thank you!! SWAK!

RONNIE: If you plan to use up George, go down island please as I don't know if we could take the sound of his whimpering...he may just need my aspirin too!!! ;)

MO: Why do I think those cigs will come in handy??

    ReplyDelete
  96. Commercial~~

Mary, sorry about Mr. Ritus dropping by for a visit. Take care of yourself.

ZonaBabeeee, LOL You might be right about the aspirin for George, and Mo's cigarrettes.

    ReplyDelete
  97. HI all! Well, I made my 7000 barely! Thanks for the congratulations. :) I am just dealing with a headache and a lot of crap lately. Sorry for the whining.

I really don't know what I would do if I could only bring three things. That is such a hard concept for me.

    Take care!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thanks ZONA,I'm sure the change of weather is to blame. I will have to give in and take pills. There are a lot of people out there in worse shape than me, so I just count my blessings :+)

  101. Evening all,

    Very long day today!

Wednesdays seem to run me into the ground!

    My three things:

    A boat

Saran wrap! I'll let you all stew on that one until tomorrow!

Shout out to Bebbi for all that walking! Way to go!

I am going to watch some TV see you in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Thanks all! Did anyone else watch Biggest Loser last night? I couldn't believe how much weight those people have lost. It has taken me 5 weeks to lose 18 lbs!! sheesh! I wanna get on that show! hehe.

  114. It looks like everyone has flown away, so I'm saying my good nights.
It's been a very long and upsetting day, to say the least. I actually was able to get into Krogers today and it was full of armed guards. All cash, no debit cards, and a limited supply of fresh foods.

At this point, Carol, I would love to go to an island with only three things.

    This was a fly-by/tuck-in.

    Hang in there iteach...I care!

  115. Ronnie:

    See ya all tomorrow...

Cute blog tomorrow from a owl, I enjoyed it, and I am sure you all will as well...

Carol, If I bring Sharon, can she bring 3 things?

I talked to DonnaJean today and she is in San Francisco. They have to be at the hospital at 6:30am tomorrow. She will let us know how things went after Laurie's surgery. She thanks everyone for the prayers and good thoughts and wishes.
