Some people, who shall be nameless, have horrible taste in music! Jennifer Nettles, from the band Sugarland, has one of those voices that can sing anything. Very few people can just start singing and sound good right from the start. Most stars now-a-days need all the bells and whistles to sound "decent!"



Sugarland did a show with Bon Jovi called Crossroads. They alternated singing each others' songs. IMHO Jennifer Nettles made Bon Jovi's songs sound better. I have some of them on my myspace page. I KNOW!!!!! How can you improve on Bon Jovi????!!!! That's what I thought!



Here is the song that Di mutilated!!! I loved this song the very first time I heard it. She wrote it from the perspective of the mistress. I know not everyone listens to country music, but give it a listen and see what you think!

    Ok Tina sorry but I agree with Di on this one! LOL I kept waiting for her to sing "why wan't ya staaaaya" and then next line "Even my daaaaawg is dyin' for ya to staaaaya"!

    Sorry having been exposed to musical torture as a child and teen I just have a hard time with Country sad songs. My wife/husband left me, my mony is gone and even my dawg has a hangdog expression (or maybe spression).

    To much nasal for me.

    Ducking, I see that CD you are about to throw like a ninja star at me.

    Love sugarland.. esp with JBJ.. This song is so good and so sad... I actually heard it for the first time when MEK shared it with me.. Jennifer sings so well..

    I am off to get my hair to a color that does not have grey in it.. and doing some highlites today.. I will prob be there for about three hrs.. Fun! NOT!

    Ya know I just thought of something.. the nest is like my twitter.. I tweet my day here..

    Tina - I agree with you on this one. I love Country Music. Most of the songs I like including this one.

    Dianne - You are so brave to allow Tina to tape you while driving. I love being in pictures but video taping - no way. Good on you.

    We stayed home this weekend and I am glad we did. I will have to get used to taking my 'fur babies' outside at the farm. They don't have the same freedoms there yet because I am afraid they will see a rabbit and take off after it. Eventually I may relax about that. For now they are on 20 foot leashes.

    Tina I like Country music, but not the old twangy kind like "my dawg is on the porch cryin' cuz I lost my hat and my truck got a flat".

    I looked this video up on YouTube (still can't watch Videos here)and she is very good. However the second video, if it is Dianne singing can you put it on FB cause I can see videos there? I'll make you first in the 69 catagory!

    Morning Jennifer, the Statler Brothers, I have not heard that name in a long time. I have learned to appreciate Johnny and June Cash somewhat.

    Tinka it is misty raining here right now but it looks like it is trying to clear off. I wish I was at the farm with you.

    Bonacci I guess I am a purist. I generally like the song by the original artist. Somehow I just feel that there is something missing when someone remakes the original.

    Well I need to go get ready as I am heading out to have my hair done today as well. I am starting to look like I have a fading blanket on my head. With grey streaks.

    Oh Maureen I have had grey hair for the last 10 years at least. Other than shampoo and conditioner I have never put anything else in my hair. Drives my sisters crazy. I don't spritz, spray or color. I've never worn makeup either.

    It's just me and my deodorant. Dad use to say "You can't improve on perfection, so why try." He was a smart man! Lol!

    Tina Thanks for the vid today. Although I liked the song, itself, it was sung way too twangy for me. I had a Sugarland concert on TV recently and I actually liked the fast rock-a-billy type stuff but when she sings a slow song, she really exaggerates that twang and I cannot take it! She did a good job with the acting on the vid, though.

    Dianne You're so funny! I keep waiting for you to smack Tina. LOL

    LynnD, I agree with you about the original artists being "best". I heard demos of "Who Says You Can't Go Home" both with and without Nettles, and I just prefer the one with her. The one I heard had her in the background... I didn't even know who she was.

    Mr. B does some great AC/DC, and because it's him, I think he does it best. Parties here always include bands and AC/DC covers, among others.

    Grey hair? I've never really thought about it seriously. I think it's attractive on men, but come to think of it, I never see women with grey. Shirley, props to you for being confident and showing the real you. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

    I'm not sure what I'd do if I found some grey in my hair. Probably cover it because I'm not so brave as Shirley.

    TINA: I love Sugarland..except for that one song..can't remember the name of it because I turn it off as soon as it comes on..wait let me youtube it. brb! Ok..it's called 'All I Want To Do' and it has too many 'ooo ooo ooos' in it. Drives me crazy. I have to admit that Jennifer Nettles' voice was an aquired taste..I don't think it was until Sugarland's second song that I realized I really liked them. Then came the song with JBJ and I was hooked.

    I love country music..but can see why some don't. There sure is a lot of suffering in it. David Allen Coe wrote a great song about country songs..he sang that it wasn't a real country song unless it had mama, trains, prison, trucks and getting drunk in it. Not just one..all of them..LOL..

    DIANNE: I loved how you held your ground..that really cracked me up. Knowing how much you like country music..I was surprised to learn you don't like Sugarland..though I smiled when you brought up Tim Mcgraw!!

    TINKA: Pretty soon the farm will be your home away from home..with all the same comforts. I can just imagine how much Tango and Tia love it there..and how wonderful it must be to just be able to enjoy the scenery. I hope my room will always be ready too! ;)

    I could have written a country song about yesterday..the air conditioning went out again. I was alseep..and the heat woke me up. It was all ready 88 in the house. Ugh. Mr Z was at work..and our regular a/c guy was in Flagstaff. Turns out a family member of someone Mr Z works with is an a/c contractor...but he couldn't get out to the house for 5 hours. I was so worried about Nikki..we just kept wetting her down to keep her cool. As for me and Mr Z..we were in the pool..out of the pool..in the pool..out of the pool. By the time the repair guy got here..it was 95 in the house, and we were sunburned and waterlogged. He confirmed we need a new compressor..but the problem yesterday was again electrical. Things were melted up there and he said we were lucky there wasn't a fire. Sheesh. Well, that problem is fixed..but not without a couple of headaches for me and the mister!!

    My mom always said..once you start putting new parts into any kind of old appliance..expect a domino effect..as each new part strains the old ones. Looks like that might be what's happening. Well, six more weeks and we'll be looking at cooler days and nights..then I can exhale!! :D

    J/L: Thanks! Unfortunately, no, and what she can perceive out of that eye is so distorted that it interferes with stabilizing the visual image she gets from her other eye (that eye is healthy). So if the pain persists, the big decision will be whether and when to remove it and put in a prosthetic.

    Whab, I know a guy who lost one his eyes base jumping. He wore an eyepatch for a while, then had a prosthetic put in. He can't see out of it, but he's thrilled with it.

    Zona- ouchie, a sunburn and a bill to fix the ac! Hope the burn isn't too bad- get Mr. Z to rub some aloe vera on it.

    Just got back from the movie JULIE/JULIA. I really enjoyed it and so did Mr. Goldie. The theater was full and everyone was clapping when it was done. Gotta love Meryl Streep. Interested to hear how tina~ liked it.

    We are getting storms again (while in the movie) and again later. Say a little prayer that I get hail and wind damage to the roof!! :)

    TINA - Great vid of you and MISS DIANNE!!! I am not a huge country fan, and didn't really know who Sugarland was til she sang with JBJ!!! Although I do appreciate a great Patsy Cline tune!!!

    SHIRLEY - Way to go on embracing the grey!! I dyed my hair for damn near 20 years, but I haven't put a thing in it since last November. And I can't count how many compliments that I've gotten!! I have one customer that thinks that I've had my hair highlighted!! I'll keep the "natural" highlights.....lol!!

    Has anyone heard from DeeDee? I keep imagining what she's up to. Here are my guesses:

    1)She talked the captain into letting her drive the ship and they're headed for Australia. Or Amsterdam.

    2) She is, at this moment, enjoying a thorough body cavity search as a result of her quirky charm.

    3) She thought the guards at Buckingham Palace wouldn't move even if she kicked them in the nuts, so she tried it out.

    And 4) She is trying to swim across the English Channel for no particular reason at all.

    And as for DeeDee...she's asleep right now~ She went looking for Jack the Ripper tonight...or maybe it was Jack the Stripper...I get them confused~

    1~ As for the captain, she had dinner with him.....3 times~

    2~ Cavity search....I think she's got an appointment for that on Thursday~

    3~ funny about the guards...she sent me a pic of the new ones...with their turbans~

    4~ no swimming for her....she's not very good~ :)~

    Ok...I am here to comment on todays blog. SHIRLEY, TINK,BONACCI, GOLDI, J/L,AND JODI.....I am not a "good sport" about TINA video recording me. It is just that she always does it when I am driving or I would grab that camera and I won't tell you on here what the heck I would do with it!! I HATE my picture being taken much less a video but I know she will do it regardless of what I do...short of violence. I have noticed a couple of things from watching it and one is that I stick my tongue out too much.

    TINK; You will see what I am talking about when she comes to visit you...any of you will if TINA "blesses"you with a visit.

    TINA: Are you saying the Cardinal is knocking me out of a visit? Now explain to me...is this ZONA AND MEK'S football team coming to visit? I didn't think you were into football..hmmm?

    MO: If you would like I could just call you and sing up close and personal for you. This is not an offer I just give to anyone.

    Oh, one more thing TINA...what part did you scream in the movie? I'm glad I wasn't sitting near you.

    ZONA: I wanted to tell you that my husband got a new car yesterday and it has that SX radio and there is a channel that is called Sinatra songs. Sorry your a/c went off again. Better keep saving those pennies for next summer repair.

    Here is the deal on this song: I love country music. I like the song Stay but not with Sugarland singing it. I am so glad to see a few of you (LYNN AND JENNIFER) agreed with me on how this woman sings. I did like the song All I Want To Do..probably because it i just a cute song.
