A few days ago, Garth Brooks announced that he is coming out of retirement now that his children have gotten older. Until Garth came along, I had always thought that I absolutely could not stand country music. Garth Brooks and this song, in particular, changed my mind and made me realize that there are some country singers and some country music songs that I really can enjoy. I respectfully dedicate this song to all my down-to-earth friends at Owl Manor.

Good Morning!! I think!??
ReplyDeleteWell.....I'm never taking off my head again!!!! Someone send's it down the slip~n~slide, people tripping over it, dog's chasing it around like a soccer ball, I think someone tossed it in the toilet to play "bobbing for appleheads"! Cuz, I'm feeling kinda seasick... It's gonna take me week's to recover from the cut's and bruises, not to mention the rotten headache!
Next ya'll will be playing volleyball with it!
Shirley, do you have anything sticky that will help me keep my head on today???
Congrat's on 1st, Lois!
ReplyDeleteHi Lin, I've always been love/hate country. Sometimes it makes me feel like an emo kid and I just want to go Van Gogh and cut a freakin' ear off.
ReplyDeleteOther times it connects to my soul with stories I can relate to. My favorite Garth song is The Dance.
It reminds me all happens for a reason, and to be thankful that I got to be a part of whatever/whoever comes along even if it is only for a short time.
The lyrics:
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance
Thanks and good morning to you, Birdee! Nice to see you all in one piece today. There were many things done to your pretty little head. Thankfully, your eyes were closed most of the time. Although, Bear did look cute when he stuffed your head under his shirt to see what he would look like pregnant, that is when he actually had a shirt on!
ReplyDeleteWaving a wing at all who fly by later!
Lin, Thank's for the song and dedication...alway's liked this song. Listening to it now, kinda make's me miss my bar hopping day's a little..... some of which I don't remember! Too bad I'm such a light weight now! :o)
ReplyDeleteLois, LOL...wondered why thing's went dark for awhile.....thought I blacked out for a bit!
ReplyDeleteGood to know it wasn't from the jello shot's!!
Good morning to Birdiee & Lois (congrats on #1).
ReplyDeleteGreat blog toady, Lin. Garth has earned the status of legend.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!!!! You must be what, 90-something?
Tina ho is 90?! Damn, she doesn't look a day over 89. Wonder what her secret is.
ReplyDeleteSING ALONG OWLS!
Happy, happy birthday
Happy birthday, ho
Happy birthday, Tina
So super effin' ol'
XOXO
Good Morning!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite songs!! And Garth!! He is so sexy and good looking!!
Thanks J/L!!
There was another songs way back...called "All My Ex's Live in Texas" by Merle Haggard I think...loved it too...but then someone did another version..."All My Ex's Wear Rolex's"....and that song is a lot of fun too....what with Rolex being the State Watch of Texas....lol
Last night I was watching students playing Rach's Sonata 2......and its easy to get caught up......some are ok then a few are like omg...well one was omg...this 22 year old girl......she rocked Rachmaninoff.....she made that piano her bitch!! lol
Point is...I love music...a little of everything with the exception of rap and metal.....
If music is pleasing to the ear...and in Garths case....the eyes.....I am there...
Music is so powerful...it can make you laugh...cry...it can take you breath away and put you on the edge of your seat. It can make you have to move with it....or remain so still...not to miss a nuance......no one has been known to internally combust while listening to music..although I have felt like I might....but it has set many hearts a flame...as well as...in the case of this performance......
ZORCH'S ON FIRE!!
Gawd, DeeDee! A masterpiece if I ever saw one, then... ZORCH.
ReplyDeleteI don't care much for metal either, but there are some... I watched the This Is It movie yesterday and noticed a metal element in there. It could have been the Russian subtitles, but I'm pretty sure I heard metal in there.
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first No Newz!!! Gee you up and about early this morning. It looks like you have most of the clean up done in the nest!
J/L How sweet you picked out special music for Tina's birthday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!
Well no rest for the weary must drag my sorry ass into gear as I have clean up to do from the Haunted House.
Hey, LL.. you got one!
ReplyDelete:O)
Whew, clean up is all done, and what a job it was, you guys made a mess..
ReplyDeleteEspecially Shirley.. all that blood..
And Bonacci with her ashen streamers, what a pain to clean up..
But I prevailed, well me and Mr Clean
;O)
I am going to my aunts for lunch/dinner.. so you all 2nite.
Everyone have a great day!
Oh I could I forgot..
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday.. Tina..
Hope all your crackwhore wishes and dreams come true..
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: I'm not a big Garth Brooks fan, but I really like this song. For some reason..which we have never quite figured out..my friends had it played at their wedding..the wedding party sang it after the toast. It was cute, but definitely a ?? moment.
My fave Garth song is "I'm Much Too Young to Feel This Damn Old" it was one of his first recordings. I also like "Unanswered Prayers".
Good choice for today J/LIN..thank you!
I think I have Halloween Hangover..
ReplyDeleteForgot to thank J/L for the blog today.
soooo TY..
:O)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!
ReplyDeleteLL/NN: Happy First!
BIRDEEEEE!: LOL @ never taking your head off again..I've learned a lesson by your example..I'm never going to take my head off either! :D
DEEDEE: Love me some Merle..
CAROL: Hmmm..so tell us more about this mysterious Mr Clean.. ;)
Good Morning LYNN!
Halloween was a success at our house last night. We had almost 300trick or treaters..and the costumes were so cute and inventive. Mr Z was playing Michael Jackson' Thriller as one of the songs on the sound system..and whenever it came on, kids and adults alike would stop and start doing the 'Thriller dance'...it was so cool.
ReplyDeleteI will catch up on comments from yesterday soon, it looks like everyone had a great time. Thanks again CAROL and SHIRLEY.
SHIRLEY: I found the slip and slide in the corner..so one last time.."WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"
"Ca..ra..sshhhh"..damn..didn't see that crawling hand..flipped me right into the wall...groooannn...
Good Morning Everyone.
ReplyDeleteCarol I think I have Halloween Hangover. I could hardly sleep last night. Area 51 proves me on that. Today I feel like - well how does one describe it. I don't drink but it is definitely a hangover, I think from the sugar.
Happy Birthday Tina. Have a great one.
ReplyDeleteLois - Congrats on being first.

ReplyDelete24
ReplyDelete25
ReplyDeleteI had to get that in.
ReplyDeleteI love country music. Garth Brooks is not my favourite singer but I can't help but 'get moving' when this song is on.
Zona I also like "Unanswered Prayers.
I am having trouble typing so I will be back in a couple of hours. I need to wake up.
Zona, 300? You are a patient woman. I'd have gotten the pellet gun out and started target practice by trick-or-treater #50.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY, TINA!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, HOoters! I see the place is all cleaned up from yesterday's activites. I'm glad you are enjoying the music, today. I can't help but sing along a bit when I hear this song.
Zona Wow! You had 300 trick-or-treaters? I only had 46, here. When my kids were little, there would be 100-120. Then bad people started doing bad things to the candy, so that kind of ruined it for many. A lot of kids just go to parties, instead.
NN/LL Congrats on arriving first today.
ReplyDeleteTinka Congrats on 25! Hope you feel better as the day goes on.
30
ReplyDeleteHeadless Birdee I hope Carol helps you put your head back on soon.
ReplyDeleteZona, if you'd been using your funbags er, airbags. Boobs. If you'd been using your boobs, you wouldn't have crashed.
ReplyDeleteDeeDee: Garth IS cute! I'd do him!
ReplyDeleteReally glad to hear he's coming out of retirement...
Happy Sunday Owls.
ReplyDeleteGee I guess I'm too late to help with the clean up. Oh well!
J/L, I never liked Country music when I was growing up, by then I met a cowboy that I later married and that was all it took. I saw Garth in concert here in Sac. He was still married to Sandy, but the last song was a surprise duet with Trisha Yearwood. Shortly after that he and Sandy divorced and he married Trisha. Thanks for posting this song today. It is hard to listen to it and not sing along.
Lois, congrats on #1 today and posting the lyric to The Dance. It is one of my faves too.
ReplyDeleteZona, you know better than to play on the slip and slide. Your track record proves it. I hope you didn't hurt yourself too much.
Tina, Happy Birthday to youuuuu ♪♪♪♪
Jodi, (((HUGS)))
Waving at all the other Owls. Have a great day everyone.
Last night I went to a concert of a Russian A Cappella choir. All the songs were in Russian and I didn't understand any of it, except I'm sure I heard the word 'Smirnov.' I was hoping that meant we would be served some tasty alcoholic beverage, but no, not the case. Zona, I thought of you and wondered if you would have been able to translate for me.
ReplyDeleteBear LOL Don't forget...you are married! Or would you get a one-time pass for a special circumstance?
ReplyDeleteIt appears that I forgot to take my costume off. I'm now freshly bathed and my hair is done. Hug, anyone?

ReplyDeleteI just had a two hour nap and feel great. Before that I took down all the Halloween decorations. Hope everyone has a great day.
ReplyDeleteIt took me seven tries to get my password to work. Ugh, frustration.
ReplyDeleteJ/L: I will hug you...thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am very sad and sulking right now. MY Broncos lost our first game to Baltimore and it was a lousy game. We even got up early and went to my brothers for a Bronco party and then lost. I am not a good football loser and I am glad none of you live in Baltimore!!
TINK: Congratulations on the upcoming new baby...how exciting for you.
I am tired today and home now so think I will nap for awhile.
Whoops....forgot to say J/L that i love this song. I am not a huge Garth fan, although I love country music. There are a few of his songs that I like and this is a good one.
ReplyDeleteDianne Thanks for the hug. Sorry your Broncos lost. You take it pretty personally, don't you? Our 49ers lost, too, to the Colts who are undeafeated. It was a good game to watch, though. Both teams played well. We lost by 4 points. :(
ReplyDeleteHey Everybody!!!
ReplyDeletejust flying in to check on all of you. ;o)
J/L, I'll take a hug!! Thank's!!
Been pretty lazy today, myself. I really should of been working on the leaves....maybe tomorrow, maybe tuesday...what the heck, there's alway's wednesday!!
Just got done with dinner...not much else going on.
Dianne, Sorry 'bout the Bronco's!
Zona, 300 kid's???? Think I would turned out the light's at 150!! ;o)
Tink, glad you had that nap and feel better.
Sacbarb...LOL @ hearing Smirnov!
Tina!! Happy Birthday!!! Whatcha doing today??
Have a good night all!!!
Birdee Here's your (((HUG)))!
ReplyDeleteI'm having a lazy Sunday, here. I took down my Halloween decorations and watched the football game. Did a little this and that. Nothing too ambitious. It's been a restful day.
J/L: Oh, yeah. Forgot.
ReplyDeleteOopsies!
Is everyone farming?
ReplyDeleteI've been promising myself I'd eat meat one of these days. I tried it on Friday. Ate some chili. It felt like I'd swallowed a spiked rock. 2 hours later I barfed my brains out. No more meat.
HI! I see everyone is bright eyed and bushy tailed today lol!
ReplyDeleteNonewz congrats on #!
SO-O-O-O-O Tina, did Mr Tina give you a BIG surprise ;-)
Here is what I read today...
Bonacci couldn't keep her meat down, whabby wanted some strange stuff,Birdee misplaced her head, DeeDee was getting off on some rockin biotch last night, lynnD's ass is dragging,Carol is "doing" Mr Clean,SacBarb is thrusting, or was it thursting? for some guy named Smirnoff,Zona, well, Zona admitted to getting a lot"Trix-ing" last night, & Tinka got frustrated,
Let's hope next week is good to all of us!

ReplyDeleteHi Hooters! Better late than never..
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteJ/L, Here's a (((hug)))
ReplyDeleteMary, I got your card yesterday. The droopy hooters cracked me up. But I almost peed when I read the back - "remember when we used to be perky hooters?" I'm not sure I can remember that long ago. Thanks.
Dianne, I have no words for your loss today.
SacBarb,What happened with Diane? I missed something.
ReplyDeleteMary~ the broncos lost! lq~
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody for the birthday wishes~
ReplyDeleteNN/LL~ congrats on first~
J/L~ I'm not a Garth fan....he pissed me off when he left his family for Trisha....wtf!!!~ BUT...I do love The Dance...LOVE it~
Tina,I forgot about the Diane's Broncs losing. Here in Michigan we are USED to losing lol!!
ReplyDeleteSo how dos it feel to be 50??????
Hi Everyone..
ReplyDeleteMary.. LOL.. and what you read today!
Tina.. Hope your b'day was great..
Birdee..
ReplyDeleteYou are right there is also Wednesday, but I think you should "do them" on Thursday, with a Thong on..
That would certainly be a kodak moment!
I had a lazy day to..
I can't stay I am to tired.. so I am heading to bed..
ReplyDeleteNite
:O)
J/L..
ReplyDeleteBTW, loved that you dedicated your SMV to the nest..
Kudos..
♥♥♥
J/L: Yes, I do take the Broncos loss personal. I have been paying a lo of money for years for the season tickets so I feel that I am "part owner" and they get paid to WIN> They have been doing so great and then got too smart for their britches. We have not liked our new coach or QB and then after winning 6 in a row we all decided that "we" made the right decision on firing the old coach and getting rid of Cutler and what a great job we did with the new group. Now that they lost today....denver is a little fickle and we won't like our coach or that darn QB this week until they win again.
ReplyDeleteJODI: DID GB beat Minn? I hope so and what was the crowd reaction to Bret coming back for a game on the other team? Hope your dad is doing better today.
Looks like we are all pooped after getting pooped on yesterday by Birdee at the party. I have been farming until my eyes can't see anymore and am hitting the bed.
TINA: Hope you enjoyed your bday dinner and we will now be counting the days until 50!!
Where is SHIRLEY today? She must really be tired or in the Owls Nest basement.
I've just stumbled upon a blockbuster comedy, sure to tickle everyone's funnybone. Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. I need say no more.
ReplyDeleteYeesh, Diane. I was spot reading and everyone's consoling you for your loss. I thought someone DIED! Stupid football.
Well, Mr Z is finally finished using the computer tonight. He's taking a couple of college courses through work and takes over the computer on the weekends. Who knew at 50 I'd be living with a college boy...imagine! I wonder if that makes me a cougar? ;)
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: I know, I know..with my track record I should realize 'traction' is not one of my strong points! :D
DIANNE: I'm so very, very sorry to hear that the Broncos lost..do you see the tears in my eyes..sniff..sniff.. ;)
MARY: The heck with 69...congrats on the 'ahhhhhhhhh..' :D
TINA: You're 50? ;)
SACBARB2: Did they say a lot of dirty words in Russian? I think I could translate those.. :)
TINKA: Mr Z is just now taking down the Halloween decorations..he's also getting the Christmas ones out!
J/LIN: The adults were all talking last night about the innocent days when you could actually get apples and homemade treats for Halloween..those times are long past..it's too bad..
AREA 51:
DIANNE! I was shocked and stunned by your description of what Mr Z and I do when we are in the pool..and then I remembered...you're right.. ;)
TINKA: Congratulations! How exciting for you and your family..I can just imagine how thrilled everyone is at the upcoming new addition. I'm so happy for you all!
Ok..Mr Z is playing Christmas music..someone come save me please..... ;)
Sweet dreams, HOoters!
