I missed last Friday's Oprah, but she had Lady Gaga on. I must admit that I have been a bit obsessed with her and her music lately. Last summer when she just hit the music scene....I really thought "what the crap"!!! Kinda catchy tunes, but I was a bit put off by her lyric "I want to take a ride on your disco stick"!!! Of course I'm sure my Mom was just as horrified by the lyric "Afternoon delight" when I was about 12!!!
After catching her Oprah interview on youtube, I really have had a change of heart. She really is selling a message of acceptance....of yourself, no matter how bad you feel about yourself. And she is not being provacative, to be provacative.....but to really make young people think.
My favorite song to shake my ass to right now is "Bad Romance", but the song that really brings me to my knees is "Speechless". A huge thank you to Zona and Mr. Z for burning her CD and sending it to me. I have had it on constantly this week while I've been home.
Get your dancing shoes on and shake it!!!
P.S. Today Lady Gaga is performing in NYC at the Monster Ball and 100% of her proceeds are going to help the victims in Haiti. You can also go to her site LadyGaga.com and any purchase from her site will be donated today only!!!

Bam!!
ReplyDeleteJ/L..... I owe you an apology....I was just jerkin' your chain last night.....of course the WORLD should help the people in Haiti....
ReplyDeleteRegarding the things Beth said...she reflects the world we live it....and brilliantly....and the things she says can be profound. Mostly reflecting the stupidity of people. These things are necessarily her personal opinion..
Its hard to explain Beth without getting into more trouble....but I am going to give an example....
When she and I saw Schindlers List...by the end when all the descendants were placing stones on his grave and the camera pan outs to show all these people....we both were pretty emotional and Beth said......
"and to think this (Holocaust) didn't even happen"....
that particular remark was almost rabid sarcasm......again a reflection of peoples stupidity...
I know yesterdays post rubbed people the wrong way....and I am trying to rub you all the opposite way this morning.....can you feel it??
I woke up thinking about this and had to get it said and done....I am sorry for anyones feelings getting tangled....
Morning Glories!
ReplyDeleteBamalamadingdong! Deedee! Hey that could be a Gaga song title.
Jodi I saw her on Ellen and I actually think she is fascinating. Yes she is trying to sell the message of acceptance and in a very smart manner. Think about it parents will only see the surface and hate her. The kids of course will sneak and rebel to check her out. Age old story and still works. Think Madonna. Madonna though is more about the money in my mind shock for shock value.
Her interview with Ellen was very interesting. She travels alot with her parents and is very close to her Mom and Dad. I think this will keep her grounded. I hope she never sells out because no matter what you think she is very talented and I think a better voice range than Madonna. She also plays piano.
The message I took from this video was how far would you go to stay in an abusive relationship? Seems like a good message to me if people understand it. Anywho that is my opinion for what it is worth.
Hey did you type this one handed? Good Job!
Jodi....good morning!!
ReplyDeleteI love Gaga....I saw her on Oprah....she is impressive...and I loved her hair-do! I am going to take a pic of it to the salon and see if Roberto can do that to mine!!
Rosie O is going to be on Oprah on Monday...tomorrow for a documentary she is doing or has done...."A Family is a Family is a Family".....and I got the impression that Parker is going to be with her....
Good morning DEE DEE & LYNN!! I'm so glad that you "got" what I was trying to say about Lady Gaga and this song!!! DEE DEE what I want to hear is your commentary on her fabulous costumes!!! Especially the shoes!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Rosie on Oprah tomorrow...should be very interesting!!
ReplyDeleteI got a text from ZONA. She and MR. Z are at the ER. Evidentally he cut the end of his finger off, and might have to have surgery. That's all I know for now. ZONA said she would call me later. Please say a quick prayer for him. And I will keep you updated.
ReplyDeleteWarning Long Post!
ReplyDeleteOkay once again I am going to jump into the fray.
I read Deedee's post from yesterday and this is what I took away from it. Her friend is making her points in a very sarcastic manner but pointing out some of the folly of what is happening in our world. I get sarcasm because I was raised around it. Sometimes hard to decipher without benefit of facial expression and body language, so in writing easy to take as insulting. IMHO
As far as the comment about Shindlers list there are many who are holocaust deniers. Crazy I know but they are out there. Beth was making a point after watching that movie (or reading the book which I have) How in any sane world can you deny what happened to millions of people in that time of history? I would also like to point out it was not just the Jewish who were murdered, It was gays, gypsy's and anyone else they determined did not support their cause or Aryan Ideal.
Now Haiti if you read anything about the history of Haiti, like all history there is the wonderful and the disgusting. Haitians were strong and had guts to stand up and say we will no longer be your slaves in a time when it was the main stream idea and work force. They fought and won. But the darker side is the governments who not only were corrupt but murdered and exploited their people for various reasons, which always boils down to money and power.
Yes they are poor, so poor at times it is hard to take in. I hope that Beth was implying in her sarcasm that it would be so much more humane of God to just take them, then to have to live this hell on earth they are experiencing right now. You also have to understand ( I saw a report) that in their culture once they are amputated it means you are a defective and people don't respect you or even see you as human. You are no longer a productive member of that society. Very sad.
Now as far as the corruption our government and many others have taken advantage of this country over the decades and once we get what we want we leave them in poverty and to struggle on. Shameful on many levels. The money we send to me is guilt and hush money. IMHO
Yes our country has so much need and yes it frustrating for so many Americans to wonder why in the world are we sending money to these countries when we are not taking care of our own. We all seem to have these questions and the most frustrating part to me is that our government hides the answers from us. Why? The only reason I can think of is because we can't handle the truth.
I would like to add before I get off my soap box, if you have not been paying attention this week to the Supreme ruling handed down about election finance then it is time in my opinion to open our eyes as citizens of this country. This ruling could leave us in a dire straights situation not unlike the Haitians. Coporations have been handed the keys to our government. They can now buy and sell our elected officials at will unless we all band together to stop it. Yes there is corruption now but just wait until they act upon the great gift the Supreme court gave them.
In my opinion we will be nothing more to our government than the people of Haiti have been experiencing for generations from their own government.
Okay you can all be mad at me now. This is just how I see it at this moment in time.
LYNN - Actually I can type with both hands just fine if I put my keyboard on my lap!!
ReplyDeleteLYNN - As always a very thought provoking and informative post.
ReplyDeleteWhew! Glad you can type with both hands Jodi! Still can't figure out how that will help with your sanitary needs though. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info on Zona and Mr. Z! I hope he does not need surgery. Saying a quick prayer about it.
LYNN - I can wipe my ass just fine....tyvm!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteWow. Lots going on for such an early day.
ReplyDeleteLady GaGa isn't afraid to be different. I like that. Hopefully she can maintain her respectable image, make a good living and inspire some of along the way.
DeeDee, as the daughter of a southern farmboy, I appreciate your humor. Sometimes Yanks have a hard time with it. Dad was reprimanded once for telling a little girl that if she couldn't name all the M&M colors, she'd have to go to Wart School. I thought it was funny and creative, but she didn't. What can you do?
Jodi, I hope you can wipe your arse... cuz none of us here really want to do it for you.
ReplyDeleteOh and did I say I want my ass to look like Lady GaGa's? Damn I don't think mine will ever look that way again.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting discussion between J/L, Dee Dee, and others! I have mixed opinions on these issues.
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, I share with Dee Dee some opposition to the enormous outpouring of aid coming from the United States to the people of Haiti. But, my opposition has a very different source than Dee Dee's.
I think it's appalling that this country values it's own citizens so far above the human beings that inhabit the rest of the world. The bias manifests itself in many ways, but one of the weirdest is that the value the United States does put on foreigners is correlated with their proximity to this country. Haiti's populace is far closer than the enormous numbers of people who were negatively impacted by the Indian Ocean tsunamis, for example, but their plight didn't generate nearly the attention and outpouring of aid that this earthquake has.
And my other problem with "Hope for Haiti" is: Even thought I did donate $$ to this Haitian relief effort, I feel, well, a little hypocritical for doing so. Millions of my fellow human beings live in absolutely horrible conditions in Haiti, and have done so throughout my lifetime (we see the evidence of it through this earthquake; buildings are just unbelievably shoddy). If I really cared about the plight of these people, I would have been sending aid to them all along.
Wouldn't I?
When I'm just doing it in response to this earthquake, is it to help Haitians, or just to help my conscience?
ATTENTION KMART SHOPPERS:
ReplyDeleteI got a text from ZONA. They moved him to another hospital. MR. Z is going into surgery in a couple of hours to remove broken bone shards and graft skin so they can close the wound. It's his little finger on his right hand. He rushed and cut off first knuckle with fingernail.
Now back to our regular programming!!
LYNN - I wouldn't mind if my ass looked like hers either....just sayin'!!!
ReplyDeleteYikes Jodi! That sounds horrible about Mr. Z's finger. I hope he wasn't doing a home repair that Zona suggested he hire a professional to do. Once she gets over being worried about him I think she might get mad.
ReplyDeleteWhabby I don't think you have anything to feel guilty over. Your donation was in response the the overwhelming need to save lives at this point. Same as mine. Yes the there are so many living in deplorable situations. I guess all we can do is help where we can, when we can.
Wait. What? That can't be it. Mr. Z cut off his finger with his fingernail because he was in a hurry?
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing he did it with fingernail clippers, but those must be some monster nail clippers. Maybe he trims his nails with hedge clippers?
We should dress Tina up like Lady Gaga and send her over to cheer him up. Maybe some tassels and hooker shoes.
All kidding aside, EEK! Ick. Gak. I hope Mr. Z is okay. And poor Zona.
DeeDee No harm, no foul. xoxox And congrats on being first to BAM us today.
ReplyDeleteBonach I was born in Tampa, Florida, when there were still segregated water fountains.
Haiti has a wealthy suburb of Port au Prince called Petionville. It is named after Alexandre Petion, a Haitian revolutionary who joined the French in ousting the English then joined the patriots to successfully get rid of the French. While it lasted, it was quite a successful enterprise for the French to have their African slave run plantations on Haiti and then ship the goods the short distance into their Louisianna territory. My maiden name is the same as his. It is a French name and my grandfather came from Paris, France. It is always possible that there are people in Haiti that I share a common ancestor with if we could trace it back far enough. Who knows?
Jodi Thank you for today's blog. I am very impressed with you for putting it together with your wounded wing. Lady Gaga is very musically talented and definitely puts on a show.
ReplyDeleteAs for Mr. Z.....Yikes!!! What was he doing when this accident occurred? Zona must be beside herself with worry. Please send her extra hugs and kisses from me.
Waving at LynnD and Bear!!
ReplyDeleteIt's starting to rain again.
Oh, I forgot to add.....
ReplyDeletePetion was the main leader of the revolution in the southern part of Haiti. Once the French were out of Haiti, they no longer felt it was a money maker to keep the Luisianna territories. So, our history and our configuration as a united states is partly tied to the history of Haiti.
Bear In the end, it matters not what the motivation is. The result is the same.
ReplyDeleteYou all can come back now. I'm done talking about Haiti.
ReplyDelete**peeks in waving a white flag**
ReplyDeleteHello?! Anyone home?
Just kidding! It's nice to see serious discussions here once in a while, where everyone has strong opinions and can feel free to voice them. Yeah!! Now back to porn!!!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of porn, where is Carol today. Our queen crackwhore is noticably missing. Or maybe she is "working" it!! She will need extra cash to buy a wedding gift for her nephew.
its raining here too....off and on......I want to go get a diet coke and as soon as I start out to the car...it starts raining again....not that I am afraid of getting wet....its just that my hair did so well today......but isn't that always the way??
ReplyDeleteJ/L....thats incredible that you had the same name as that man who led the revolution... Alexandre Pétion was also President of Haiti.....Haiti has a very interesting history and I see it back then as prosperous and green. Now you can look at a satellite photo of the border and the green stops as you enter Haiti...In 1925, Haiti was lush, with 60% of its original forest covering the lands and mountainous regions. Since then, the population has cut down an estimated 98% of its original forest cover for use as fuel for cookstoves, and in the process has destroyed fertile farmland soils, contributing to desertification.[58]
In addition to soil erosion, deforestation has caused periodic flooding, as seen on 17 September 2004. Earlier that year in May, floods had killed over 3,000 people on Haiti's southern border with the Dominican Republic.[59]
I just copied from Wiki....its an interesting read for people like myself who are ignorant about Haiti and its history......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiti
J/L...Haiti is a good subject actually..especially in light of recent events..I am learning more about it than I ever knew before.....all I knew about was the voodoo religion.....
I want to understand how Haiti became what it is now......I mean before the earthquake.....
Lady Gaga is not someone I would usually listen to, but some of her songs aren't bad. How she can walk, much less dance in those heals is a mystery to me! The must be 8 inches high!! Good grief!!
ReplyDeleteShirley. LOL @ you waving your white flag. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd where is our crackwhore, anyway. You may be right about her being out earning some extra dollars.
DeeDee. I don't know nearly what I should about Haiti or any other part of the world, actually.
Shirley. For a second, I thought you wrote "she must be 8 inches high". ROFLMAO! She may be petite but not THAT petite.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with you guys? Don't you know hooker-shoe walking is taught in Pole Dancing 101?
ReplyDeleteDeeDee~ Congrats on first~
ReplyDeleteJodi~ I love this song.....I was supposed to do today's blog and this is the exact song I was going to use....but of course, you did a way better job on the blog....maybe you should break ur arm more often! :)~
As for Friday's blog....I guess I'll weigh in....IMHO...I don't believe there is anyone in the U.S. truly worse off than those in Haiti or Africa or India. I think it's our duty as HUMAN BEINGS to help each other....the problem is, how do you know your money is going where you think it's going?
As for yestiddy's posts....I have to laugh....I guess I know DeeDee and I know Beth...so I knew where the whole thing was coming from. It's hard to look at the written word and really get the meaning. Crap....you can say something out loud and still be misunderstood. When I was in college, I worked in several different departments to earn extra money. One of them was the Sociology Dept. I made some Mexican joke or remark and OMG!!! You would have thought I had shot someone! Boy did I get it! I looked at them all like, "WHAT? I'm Mexican!" Of course, I forgot that I didn't look it and they didn't believe me! I spent the next month trying to convince them I was. I think I even brought my full blooded cousin in as "show and tell." :)~ Anyway....I don't believe anyone on here has ever said anything purposely to hurt anyone else (okay....truth be told...maybe a long time ago, yes....) BUT NOT NOW!!!! Anywhobee....I love ya all (except Di!) and I'm glad we all can talk and listen and cry and makeup and whore together!~ Amen!~
bonachichi...oms!!!! that's funny~
ReplyDeleteoh...and btw...you don't have to agree with me....cuz I prolly don't agree with you!~ :D (that just made me laugh!)
ReplyDeleteZona~ I see at least three blogs from you about today! Get on it!~
Hey HOoters!! Just heard from ZONA. They are back home. Surgery went well!! She would like to thank everyone for your support and prayers today. And as for how it happened...MR. Z was in the garage moving one of those big foldable conference tables. It slipped and landed on his right pinky finger...cutting it off at the first knuckle. Yeowwww!!!
ReplyDeleteTINA - Amen from me too!!!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY - lol @ your white flag!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone has a good night. I'm going to watch the rest of the Viking vs. Saints game. I have mixed feelings....so not a Viking/or as we call them "Viqueens" fan, but am rooting for Brett. I would love to see him play in one more Super Bowl!!!
Good Afternoon everyone. Thank you for this Sunday song Jodi. I hope you are getting better with each new day.
ReplyDeleteI care about the people of our country and the rest of the world. We are all a part of each other. I don't have very much money, but I give a little to a few organizations. Even a little bit helps.
What saddens me is the disgusting amounts of money given to political campaigns. How wonderful if that money was given to food banks and other organizations. GREED is to ugly.
For me I feel compelled always to make it a point to pay attention as what is going on in the world and how we relate to it.
Zona - My thoughts are with you and Mr. Z. Also with Dianne, Tinka, Tango, Scirish, Birdee and Shirley and your mom. I hope I didn't leave anyone out.
SLANI!!!! So great to see you....that just made me smile. :O) How are you and how is that adorable granddaughter?
ReplyDeleteAll righty, that was the first time I listened to Lady Gaga sing. Not bad.......
ReplyDeleteI have to admit when I first saw her in the tabloids, I thought she was a man.
After watching the video I think she is a woman.
Anywho, it had a great beat and I caught myself tapping my toe.
Evening Owls Just popping in.
ReplyDeleteTina I love you but I respectfully disagree, I do believe that there are people here in America who are in just as bad shape as those in Africa and Haiti and other poor countries. I sometimes feel that this is why we can't make any strides in fixing what is wrong. We try to compare suffering and there is no comparison in my mind. Suffering is suffering and until we acknowledge how bad things are they will never get better.
I also believe that we have to help take care of each other. We are all interconnected in the long run. Helping your neighbor is helping yourself.
Lani good to see you pop in.
Deedee and J/L I had no idea about the history of Haiti until this all came up and started to pay attention. Still the knowledge I have gained at this point probably would not fill a thimble.
Off to veg out.
Have a great evening everyone.
PS I do so appreciate that we can agree to disagree or at least take the time to read a different view point and still respect each other. Thank you. You all have helped get some things out of my head that have been lodged in there for days with no outlet. :)
Congrats on first DeeDee!
ReplyDeleteI love Lady Gaga..I have her Cd. She's fantastic!
My Mom was one of the 11,100 demo/business development people laid off from Sam's Club today. The majority of the people laid off were 50-70 years old. They will have a chance to be re-hired by the company that Sam's is going to use to "outsource" its demo program. The people that will be affected will most likely go from making $12-16/hr to $7.25. Oh, also, of course, no benefits anymore either.
I am so angry and upset about it. My Mom was planning to retire from it this year anyway, but many of her friends are dependent on that income. IT just sickens me. My Mom said the meeting was like "bringing lambs to slaughter" that is how bad these old women took it. One woman was so upset my Mom was sure she was going to have a stroke.
I know that many people have lost jobs, but I don't understand how they can get away with firing people with 20+ years and keep people they hired last week. It's abhorrent to me!
Sorry, had to vent.
And yet, they are touting it as a Net/Net..since the "outsource" company will rehire most of the people. But, no reference to the $10+ dollars an hour the people will no longer have in their pockets.
ReplyDeleteOh, also, they have to sign a paper to get their 'severence' that says they will not file a lawsuit against Walmart.
Bebbi I'm very sorry to hear about your mom's job. I was already anti-Walmart and this just gives me one more reason not to support them.

Happy Blue is def needed for out Zona and Mr Z
J/L: Thanks. :) Hi Carol and everyone.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can gather it seems some words were used to perhaps offend some. I know sometimes we write as we feel, but we have to remember some words might sting or hurt. It might not be obvious as some stay quiet as not to engage and add more words that hurt.
ReplyDeleteWe should always voice our opinions, because that is who we are, I truly would not want it any other way, cause then we are not ourselves. Its really just the words we use..
I know I have been in a couple of situations myself with words..
Now I am going to voice my opinion and this will be hurtful, but it has to be said..
Tina.. get in the naughty corner, no excuses will be taken.. NOW!
ReplyDeleteHi Bebbi... Have not been here when you have been on.. :O)
ReplyDeleteCarol We worked it out. All is peaceful in the land. :)

LOL...
Hey, I'm not sure if this will break our peace bond for the moment, BUT I so wanted to say this-
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the Haiti commercials with former presidents Bush and Clinton sitting together asking people to give and I think they look pretty darn cute together.
It put a big smile on my face, seriously.
Hi Carol, good to see you..Your life has been really busy lately. All good stuff though.
ReplyDeleteI just read your comments about Mr. Z.. I haven't gone back a couple of days and read. Did he get his pinky cut off for real?
Hi Jennifer. Glad that made you smile. It did me too when I saw them make an effort with President Obama.
ReplyDeleteHaiti's situation is so dire. I hope that lives can be saved by all the donations. That is the most important thing, that the donations get to these poor people.
My question: When is Tina NOT on the naughty mat?
