The Years....

Sarah and Cici, November 2009

the days roll into weeks
the weeks roll into months
the months roll into years

my parents were married 58yrs
on april 19
i wonder how did it last that long
so many ups and downs
good times and bad
yet it seems they prevailed
and here they are 58 yrs later
still man and wife

as the years rolled by the relationship
changed but yet they went with the flow
so their family foundation can grow
and grow it did
i see them differently now
two people
emerged into one
and headed in the same direction

truthful with each other yet sometimes anger emerges
but the anger disappears and they begin again
two spirits that i am glad to call my own

happy anniversary
sarah and cici
many more

  4. Morning Glories!

Tina how lovely you look this morning!

Carol what a beautiful blog! Happy Anniversary to your parents! 58 years of living life, raising a family, supporting each other! Fantastic! Of course there is sometimes anger, I had to lol at that one. 25 years for me and some days I just want to wallop the better half in the head! Nothing is perfect but you work it out and move forward. I hope we can make it 58 years.

From area51: Bonachichi. I don't think anyone is intentionally ignoring you. I have been hit and miss on the gifts for IP because I have a hell of a time just getting in to my island since they had their meltdown. Sending the gifts has been even harder. If I can get it to load I send the same gift to everyone because it won't allow me to sort for different people. I lose the connection and then forget it.

I also never think anyone is slighting me when they don't send gifts. Life is so busy for many and some days it gets away from us. I think hey it's just a game. Then there are some days when I am flat out lazy and just don't have the energy to do everything each game needs. :) Just my 2 cents.

  15. Bebbi..

That weather sounds yucky, I was hoping for warmer temps, so I don't have to bring a coat..

    ReplyDelete
  16. Carol: Maybe it will clear up for Saturday. I know what you mean..but Chicago in late April, early May can be tricky as far as weather. Just so long as its not WINDY..omg, the wind in Chicago can be UNREAL.

  17. My business partner is in the hospital, they are taking his toe next to the pinky off, he seems in good spirits. I am actually glad they are taking it off, he has been dealing with this since Nov. If it has not healed by now its not going to.. I think he is glad to.. I will keep you all posted..

    OK, I am off..

Hope all has a good day..

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am sure you have been there and know that though. I really want to go to some place on the Food Channel recommendations on Friday night to eat. I have to look though and see where.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bebbi..

Hope its not windy.. I am flying on one of those smaller planes, and whenever there is a weather issue, they also push these smaller planes back..

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh gosh, I hope that your business partner has a successful recovery. Maybe it will be for the best in the long term. My thoughts are with you.

  21. Lynn D.....lol....thats my Avom lady look....scares the hell outta people....

Bonacci!! The melanoma you mentioned yesterday....do you have it or your daughter.....details please!! You kinda dropped a bomb there.....

Gumball Rally...will you follow it to Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Boston, Quebec City and Toronto?!!
What celebs are participating this year? Will you get your face on MTV??

Your jet is a Gulfstream 550...which flies farther...faster...and higher than commercial aircraft. With 12 passengers...if you have the configuration for 14 passengers with berthing for 6 and a forward galley and crew rest area....you will be quite comfortable. There should be a potty forward and aft...but I must warn you....with 12 passengers...a flight attendant and 2 pilots on board for that length of time it could tend to get stinky....so make sure everyone (crew incl) does their big job before takeoff....ijs....you be the "big job" monitor or assign that duty to someone you trust...

There simply isn't a better plane flying...until the G650 comes out in 2011.....

And I am sorry you didn't get your pinwheels or Easter lilies but I tried.....

And for those of you upgrading your barns in IP.....I am done...finito...the fat lady has sang!

But make no mistake....you have 3 levels of upgrading....when you complete the first set of supplies and your roof is all leaves but your barn still looks like a lean-to.....don't sell your leftover nails and logs because you have 2 more levels.....I thought I was done and tossed a bunch of stuff...

I went to the IP fan page then to a forum and found all these people that were saying add me add me!!! So I added scads of IP players...enough to get the stuff I needed to complete the 3 levels...then deleted them before they could steal anything....

Now excuse me for a bit...I have to go squeeze a cyst.....

  22. LynnD, from A51, I wasn't suggesting that anyone here was intentionally being "mean" to me. I was cranky; I've been working insane hours and eveything was just pissing me off yesterday. I know you all mean well.

As my travel date to EU looms nearer, I am apprehensive about flying into a wall of ash. Add to that the fact that this particular job is one I swore off in 2007 because of events that would blow your mind. I don't want to do it, but I couldn't pass up the paycheck. For 2 weeks of my life, I can put up with just about anything.

So you all have my apologies. I'll comment on Carol's blog after I've read the comments. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm taking the comments as they come... DeeDee, yes, I am in for the whole ride. You become so disoriented, going through so many different countries, I don't even give much thought to where we're going.

The melanoma is mine. It's common in Australia and they've had some luck treating it there. About 12,000 Aussies die from it every year. I blame this on too much sun as a SoCal girl after the ultimate tan. It's not like other cancers... you can live a normal life until the end. I've met with Aussie docs who've given me good news, so it's not a major catastrophe. No pity... just one of the things life throws at you and you can either wallow in self-pity or make the best of what you've got.

    ReplyDelete
  24. DeeDee (again), we always take a G5 when doing long flights with 12 or-so people. I'll fly a G5 over any commercial aircraft any time. Once we're out of American airspace, I can let Ernie run around, so that's a plus. Commercial planes make me buy an extra seat for him and keep him locked up the whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Now to Carol's blog... It's so seldom to see life-long partners who have grown together. They share life's tragedies and triumphs. I didn't realize that existed until several years ago.

When I was 8, my mother told me she was divorcing my father. I hated him for all the horrendous things Mum said he did. Mum was "divorcing" Dad until she died. She never actually did anything about it, but all I ever heard was how she was divorcing him.

This screwed me up royally as an adult. Instead of learning to overcome problems, I just walked away from them. I came to know my dad (as an adult) as an honorable (though somewhat quirky) man. A lot of my anger towards my Mum is because she deprived me of a father as a kid. How nice it would have been to see my parents work things out rationally, rather than having to hear the "D" word all the time. Carol, count your blessings the Mum & Dad love each other through it all, over the years and everything inbetween. You are one lucky lady.

  26. Felice anniversario Sarah and Cici!

CAROL: Marriage takes a lot of
work..even when two people adore each other..there are still things in life that are going to cause problems. The trick is to be accepting and patient. Oh..and every once in a while you just have to give in and let your spouse win the argument..lol..

I'm lifting a glass in honor of your mom and dad..May love always win out..and may they be blessed with many more happy years together!

  27. CAROL: I hope my Italian was ok.. :)

TINA: Dang right you are! :D

LYNN: After 26 years, as we get more and more set in our ways..there is bound to be anger out of sheer stubbornness..come to my house..you'll see.. :D

BEBBI: Your comments just make me smile.. :)

CAROL: I hope all goes well with your partners surgery and that he recovers quickly.

    DEEDEE: LOL @ adding and deleting..omg.. :D

BONACHI: I'm sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with melanoma. I laid out in the AZ sun every summer for years and years..we were never told back then how dangerous that could be. I hope your treatment is 100% successful!

    ReplyDelete
  28. LOIS: Your blog was amazing..I just wanted to hug you. You don't think JODI or TINA would mind, do you? ;)

The weather is so goofy here..it was 90 degrees yesterday..it's going to be in the 60's for the rest of the week. I'm not complaining though..the longer it takes to hit the 100 degree mark..the happier we all are!

    DEEDEE: Great QOTD! :D

JODI: Do you think I should give up on that Fed Ex guy? ;)

MO: Allentown was my grandparents..we were in Harrisburg. You've got a great memory! :)

  29. I am home and wiped out. Unloaded a truck by myself today and I have to tell you I am feeling my age...

Bon glad to know you where just venting. I was sure no one was slighting you on purpose.

Deedee I am afraid you will get barn stuff from me until the glitches get fixed. Just sell them. :)

PS It occurs to me that if you are trying to punish or teach me a lesson by not sending me stuff, it's not working, just lost on me! :)

I can't believe the meet up is next week. I will be there warts and all!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I haven't been sending out much but barn stuff.....

Lynn D.....do you mean me trying to punish you!!?? lol

Punishment to me is those ostrich bushes in Farmtown...

Just keep putting the nails in....I'll build a car....

Btw....I ran across some paparazzi snaps of JBJ sunbathing in Miami...posted an album on FB....JBJ fans take a look....pretty hot stuff....

  31. Carol. Your parents are so darn cute! Happy Anniversary to them. All the highs and lows that make up a life, they shared with each other for 58 yrs. That is so special.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bonach. I'm very sorry to hear of your melanoma and very glad you are getting positive feedback from the Aussie doctors. Can you not get the treatment you need in the US?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bebbi. Just one week from today I will drive up to SacBarb's and we will fly to Chicago the following day. Yikes! I have no idea what I'm packing. I'm thinking sweaters? What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Just_Lin, the Aussies are miles ahead of us in treating melanoma, they're developing a vaccine for it. It's a serious health threat there.

My problem isn't life-threatening; if I let it go, maybe... but I stay aware of it. It's just skin cancer. Lots of people have it and don't know it.

No need to be sorry; I've a family of freckles on my nose that joined together like the Brady Bunch and formed a happy household. People are always telling me I've got dirt on my nose. One guy thought it was a tattoo. If you want to give me pity, save it for the mutant freckle. I spend a fortune on concealer. One of these days I'll have it lasered off.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh, let's see.... we're all traveling. Packing. Toothbrush I can stuff in my jeans, check. Baseball cap to cover bad hair days, check. Electronic toolkit(including a netbook, PDA and some tools), check. The clothes on my back, check.

I can guarantee you all 100% that when I go through U.K. customs, they'll want to know why I don't have luggage (I'm wearing it, stupid), and what all the gadgets are in my toolkit (you wouldn't understand if I told you, so what's the point?). Why are we detained when we have NO LUGGAGE???

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bonach. My husband had a lot of skin cancers. I hope you don't put off dealing with it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. CAROL...I LOVE this blog! Sarah and CiCi are just too cute for words! I quite imagine that if my father had lived, my parents would be a lot like yours...except my mom was a TERRIBLE cook!

Your parents prove that marriage is a lot of work, but the end result is 58 years together.

Please give them both a GINORMOUS hug from me, ok?

    ReplyDelete
  38. TINA...how many years have your parents been married? You and Mr. Tina will leave the same legacy for your Jr's, too! Even if they are in prison, they will be proud of the longevity of the parents union!!!

LOIS...your blog was INFUNCKINGCREDIBLE! I cried ;) I'm sure you and HODI will celebrate as many anniversaries with your other halves. Or maybe you could all switch back and forth...ijs!

CHI CHI...I hope your treatments are 100% successful. Are your broken arm and leg all healed? Damn you are a light packer! I will be taking tons more then that for my weekend get-away!

    ReplyDelete
  39. LYNN...you have warts? Maybe I will stay home instead! LOL! Well, if they are genital warts I don't have to worry about seeing them! Ok, I will still go!!!!!

JUST LIN...I would probably recommend layering. It may be warm in the daytime sun and then cool at night. Or cool out but warm when you go into places. Midwest weather can change in an instant. Since I am a walking hot flash, I am not too worried about the chill!!

I know we are doing Outback on Sat. night, but is anyone up for some good Chicago pizza maybe Saturday or Sunday for lunch?

    ReplyDelete
  40. BEBBI...I'm sure that will be a hard decision to pick from the many placed featured on the Food Network. Let us know what you decide.

CAROL...If your ax fits in your back pocket, I am not too worried! Unless of course your back pocket is, oh about 3 ft. long!

DEE DEE...amybe sell the gulfstream and get some new glasses...ijs!!

ZONA...I sure hope that 26 years ago you didn't fall down the aisle! You and Mr. Z are just the sweetest...regardless of what you say!

  41. I got kicked out of work today at 4:15. Our computers got hit with a virus and one by one they shut down. When the computers go down, so go the phones. I did as much work as I could without computer access, and by 4:15 I could do no more. My boss sent my co-worker and I home instead of sitting there doing nothing! Now I have to make up the time tomorrow and Friday. I could have used some PTO time, but then I would lose all the OT I got on Monday. NO WAY!!
My TV also died yesterday, so between the trip and the TV the OT still won't make a dent. Oh well, life goes on...but it is SOOOO quiet!

    ReplyDelete
  42. LynnD, liquid nitrogen will get rid of those warts. They're actually a self-limiting virus. In essence, it freezes them right off. It's painless. Youu need to get hold of it, usually from a dentist, chemist or doc, then just dip a q-tip in it and put it on the wart.

I don't take skin cancer lightly, but I can take the "whoa is me" attitude, or be happy it's not some other terrible disease. My uncle died of colon cancer and I choose to be thankful all I have to deal with is a few moles (or freckles, which is what they look like). The freckle family on my nose by the way, is NOT cancer.

    ReplyDelete
  43. J/L: I am going with the layers. That works better. Not sweaters but more of tees under, then longer sleeve shirt and then jacket or sweatshirt. Sweaters can get too hot if the sun comes out. But, I will have a couple of light ones too. Just not tops that are sweaters but more sweaters that are over the tops..if that makes sense. Also, bring a windbreaker. Chicago is notorious obviously.

  45. I keep reading about excited you all are about Chi-Town. How I wish I were going!! Please blog, as I will be checking in regularly. I'll do the same, though I think you'll all be having more fun.

DeeDee, you will hopefully not be seeing me on MTV or any other media (maybe CNN if there's trouble); the U.S. doesn't cover it the way EU does. It's been here the last two years, crossing the country, but few people even knew it was going on. They filmed me one year (2000?) when I stole the keys to an 18-wheeler at the Poland border. When I saw the rough cut, I made them take it out. I'm just the ground support; the guy (or gal) who caravans along and takes care of (mostly) technical details. I'm working for 6 "teams" and yes, some of them are what you might call celebrities. I can't say who (yet), but none of them are those ditzy Fuel girls who turn it into a T&A show.

I can pack light because most of the equipment is already in already at the starting destination. Since I'll be living in a car for 6 days, I don't need much. When we stop for a mandatory night's rest (meaning party), there are are hair, makeup and wardrobe people, but I just skip the parties, wash my clothes and do my job whilst the other's have their fun. I admire the drivers because they just get in their cars and go. No thought to the work that went in to making everything runs smoothly and making sure their electronics/comm gear is working.

For packing, all you really need is a hat, toothbrush then you can wear extra socks, panties, etc. I carry a powder foundation compact and mascara. You can buy anything else you need or want. No fancy dinners or nights on the town for me. You gals need an outfit for each activity. All I need is speed-sneakers for when we stop for gas so I can pee.
