So, it's a Saturday night and Mr. B doesn't want to go out. I have had a busy day, but I am BORED! I mentioned this on FB and Ms. Tina suggested I write a blog. Okay, good suggestion, and I have been meaning to write about this anyway. My topic: Diet Coke and Crackers!
I personally could live on these two items alone. Of course, since I have lost weight and made healthy choices, a lot of people ask me why I don't give up the diet sodas. Well, I really like them! Also, I don't drink coffee so I always have a diet coke in the morning to get my caffeine fix. Really, do I have to give up everything!!?!!...
As far as crackers, I just love saltines. I buy the "hint of salt" Premium Carckers or the unsalted tops Kroger brand. I like the Hint of Salt a lot better, but only a couple of stores carry them so when I go to a store that doesn't, I have to buy the lowest sodium ones possible. My mom has high blood pressure and I never want to have it, so hence the low salt diet.
I don't know why I love these two foods, but they are important in my life. I NEED them. They are my comfort foods and they taste so good together!! What comfort foods are a must in your life? Is there any food combinations that are really a must for you? Do you have any foods you feel for sure that you could live off of if you had to?
So, if I ever had an emergency like Carol, I wouldn't want chocolate. I would want a diet coke and a sleeve of crackers! Haha....
Thanks Tina for suggesting I do something really productive with my Saturday night. :D
so pretty~
ReplyDeletedag gummit.
ReplyDeleteDiet Pepsi~ My mom tells me every year to give it up for Lent...I can't do it~ Love it too much~ It doesn't really love me back...but I'm learning to deal with it~
ReplyDeleteBebbi~ thanks for writing a blog...i REALLY appreciate it~ :D
lmbo!!!!!!~
ReplyDelete:) you are so pretty today Tina..(grudgingly). *kicking the dirt*
ReplyDeleteTina: Your welcome. I had another idea last night..going to try and write it tonight...TRY being the optimum word there.
ReplyDeleteMorning
ReplyDeleteDi: Good morning!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - I truly couldn't give up my coffee fix everyday. I don't know if my body would function without it!! And I don't know why, but lately I've been craving apples. Big, fat, juicy Red Delicious apples!! Sooooo good!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning TINA - Again stunning at first!!
DIANNE - Have a great trip!! Muah ♥
I'll be back later. Fried Green Tomatoes is starting.....luv this movie!!
ReplyDeleteRushing out the door and not supposed to be on computer....bye...will check in later
ReplyDeleteSafe Travels, Di!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteImagine that Tina got prettiest this morning.
Good Try for first Bebbi!
Foods I can't live without? Most of them. I would have to say chocolate and Coke and cawfee. Gee I think caffeine just might be the real addiction. Tho I have to say I am a sweet salty girl. I love that combo and really can get a craving that won't be satisfied at times. Kettle Corn is great when this hits.
Dianne safe travels and have fun!
Sacbarb I think the issue on Saturday was the person who did the scheduling from the base. They had most of the soldiers come way to early while we were open and many could not stay. Also it was about 77 degrees and beautiful here. I am guessing many wanted to be out in the sunshine! :)
You know what the best thing I have had recently? Dark chocolate with kosher salt on top! Damn that makes me weak in the knees thinking about it!
LynnD: My son brought home the Honey Nut mix of Chex party mix..omg..sweet and salty to perfection..it's so good! And, good morning too.
ReplyDeleteLynnD:I love Kettle Corn too..great for 3pm snack..but I get the 94% fat free kind.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Ladies.
ReplyDeleteTina Once again you are the prettiest in the land. I wonder....does that thing on your head whirl around like helicopter blades and fly you into the nest?
Dianne Have a good trip!
Jodi I'm not too big on apples, although I do like to have a big bowl of Golden Delicious on the dining table because they look pretty. I do like apple pie ala mode, though :)
LynnD The dark chocolate with Kosher salt on top sounds DEVINE!
Bebbi Good effort on racing in here for to try for first. Did Tina elbow you out of the way?
The one thing I really need to have is my morning cawfee. After a couple of cups, I start to feel awake and human. I also love Hershey's chocolate syrup. There was a time when I would make chocolate milk with it and drink 6 or more glasses a day. No kidding. I don't do that any more but I do have some occasionally on vanilla bean ice cream. No other brand of chocolate will do. Lately, I've been on a streak of having a salad made with mixed greens, fresh strawberries, glazed walnuts (or pecans), with Newman's Own Lite Basalmic Vinagrette on it. OMG! Perfect mix of sweet and tart and low in calories.
J/L: You probably have strong bones then if you drank that much milk. :) My daughter used to love the strawberry milk. We always had to have that around for her. That salad sounds phenomenal. I was into salads with cranberries for a while..yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteUmmm Mary: What's your plan today? My plan was to work out at lunch and I did. Got 607 calories too...may go and work out a little more tonight as well. Good job on yesterday..you were sweatin it up on taking out that patio!
Jodi: I am into "Ambrosia" apples right now..but they didn't have any at Kroger so I got "Chipps Pink"..they are good..a little tart, both are kind of like Gala apples.
ReplyDeleteJ/L: She certainly did elbow me out of the way...I am bruised and beaten..I feel like Mary after an owl M&G.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday Owls.
ReplyDeleteHey Tina, Ms. Pretty.
Bebbi, I have various cravings at different times, but the most consistent craving is for carbs...mostly bread. I love fresh French bread, warm from the bakery. Also, one of the restaurants here makes a rosemary bread that is to die for, imho. I can't keep it in the house because it is just too tempting. If I could only have one food for the rest of my life, that's what it would be.
SacBarb: So funny you say that because I have a huge weakness for bread too. Daughter and I were at Costco and they were sampling the Rosemary Olive Bread..I can't buy it either because I would eat the two loaves ALL MY MYSELF! And, I have trouble at Red Lobster and anywhere that serves bread..Olive Garden, Fazolis, Buckheads (local place), etc...! So ^5 on the bread situation. :)
ReplyDeleteJodi, I love Fuji apples. Sometimes, for lunch, I will put some cinnamon and sugar in cottage cheese and eat it with sliced apples. I got the idea from a Weight Watchers leader.
ReplyDeleteLynn, I am a sweet/salty girl, too. Where did you find the dark chocolate and kosher salt combo?
Di, Have fun in Texas. Are you going to meet up with Dee?
J/L, You described my fave salad and I especially love that Newman's Own dressing.
Waving a wing to all the other Owls. I hope you are all having a great day.
OMG, I forgot about the Red Lobster cheese rolls. They are soooooo good. I haven't been to Red Lobster in over two years.
ReplyDeleteomg! I just watched the Brothers & Sisters season finale!! O M G ! ! !~
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Owls or Evening depending on where you are located.
ReplyDeleteBarb Trader Joes had some and recently I saw some I think put out by Dillitante (sp) Chocolates. Yummy!
I am also hooked on Sport candy bars by Riter. Whole hazelnuts surrounded by milk chocolate or dark. Yumm again!
I have decided that I am dragging and don't feel good because of all of the pollen and crap floating in the air. Everything here is throwing it around and is causing major sinus issues.
Hi./.Haven't read all the comments yet but wanted to write while I could get on the hotel's business computer.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I saw the Courtyard Marriott and after Chicago I thought it would be a great place to stay. Now remember...we are out in the middle of Texas in Amarillo. The hotel was $129..ok, more money that Chicago but hey, we got a lot for the money. Our room is okay but not the little suite that we had before...I called about the Continental breakfast and it is in the AM until 10..great....for $5.99 for rolls and cereal and $7.99 if you want eggs too. Some continetal breakfast and it is also not free wii fii....A good thing.,.the pillows are the same and I loved the pillows in Chicago.
I guess this could be a blog on why same name places aren't universal at least in the actual hotel. I can see that prices vary (except I would think Chicago would cost more than Amarillo).
Oh well, it's been a long drive and I MrD only got on my last nerve three times for the day.
I did read the blog BEBBI and I loved regular Pepsi but limit myself as trying to lose weight. I don't like diet. I also love Good and Plenty, Hot Tamales or Milk Duds near the bed. I have kind of gotten away from milk duds after my dentist things.
Ok, going to try and read comments before dinner.
Tina: Brothers and Sisters used to be my favorite show. I haven't watched it all season but I read that something big happened. I am going to have to watch it! It's hard to watch on my computer though because it stops and starts.
ReplyDeleteDi: NO WONDER YOU have teeth issues..omg, I have to give up that sticky gooey food a long time ago..haha. The last time I had it, I had to have a root canal..after my nephew's wedding..goodness gracious woman...no wonder! I bet your accountant supplies you with it and tells you to keep it close by..hehe.
Di: I can't tell by your comments..do you like the hotel or not?
ReplyDeleteOMG! I'm gonna be a basket case at the graduation! I can't even get thru the dumb yearbook w/o crying! And then...I see a crazy picture of my senior! I couldn't find him in the group pic....and then upon second search....there he is...smack in the middle...with blond hair! I forgot about that phase! lol....he is in the craziest pictures.....the first extra one I found was him in a cheerleading uniform! My boy in a skirt!!!! The next one was of him posing in a dress...okay...really a LONG black shirt....but he told the principal what he wasn't wearing anything under it~ Like a kilt, I guess~
ReplyDeleteDi~ Glad you didn't kill your fabu hubby~ Will he lay on top of you tonight, like I did?
Bebbi~ I thought of something else....California Brittle from See's Candy! I could just taste it the other night when I got home....craved it so bad~
J/L~ you made me laugh....those feathers don't move~
Sackie~ I have to stay away from the bread~ my weakness~
Tina, California Brittle AGAIN? Didn't you get your fill in Chi?
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteBebbi I think the only thing I would literally have withdrawals over is the morning coffee.
I don't think I could ever give it up!
In the summer, I crave cherries. There are some local farms that sell the big juicy Bings, you can pick your own or buy the bags/baskets.
We just planted 3 cherry trees, so hopefully will have our own in the not too distant future.
Tina thanx for the link for the toaster with the stampers, really cute! I would like to find just the stampers, hopefully they sell those separately.
Target sells that same brand that was in your link, so I can go there to check it out.
MR. EBJ recently cut off his Diet Pepsi addiction. He has had withdrawal headaches from it! His dr. told him that is normal.
We got a little rain today, not as much as predicted and I don't think enough to water the lawn and plants too good.
Good evening feather friends!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI...tasty blog! I think I need to keep my addiction to Diet Pepsi and coffee, for sure. I used to be a Diet Coke gal, but changed to Diet Pepsi and like it sooo much better!
I guess if I could only have 1 food, I think I would have to choose pizza. It is so versatile!
EBJ...did you ever have the yellow Ranier cherries? OMG...to die for!
I also try to have a banana per day!
JUST LIN... I really enjoy when you make me a cyber hot fudge sundae!!
It is raining here...all day and tomorrow, too. Boo hoo!
LYNN...sweet and salt...PERFECTION! The perfect food group!
ReplyDeleteI love fruit and nuts in salads! Did you ever try mandarin oranges in cole slaw? YUMM!
Mo: I like manderin oranges in salads...never had it in cole slaw but i am not a big fan of cole slaw..so that is probably why.
ReplyDeleteEw, how could you switch to diet pepsi..haha.
Hi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI: I really like Diet Coke too. I never thought I'd like diet drinks but I'd rather drink it than regular Coke. I love all kinds of fruit..grapes especially..watermelon and plums..gotta have them in the summer! Oh..and green olives..omg..love them. I think I could eat a whole jar..they are just so good..and you just can't beat sucking out the pimentos for a little added excitement. ;)
TINA: Hello Gorgeous! Don't cry..your feathers will droop.. ;)
MO: Diet Pepsi? Nah.. ;)
JODI: I've been eating those apple slices that come in individual packages..they taste so much better when I don't have to cut them up.. :D
SACBARB: Fresh bread with melted butter..yummm...
LYNN: Kettle corn..I think I'll have some of that tonight! Salty/sweet is my downfall too..I go in circles with that combination!
DIANNE: You left that box of milk duds here and although I swore off of anything that could pull a filling out years ago..I decided to try one. Just one. Yep..pulled a filling right out! I think they were invented by a dentist..js.. ;)
EBJ: MO is right.. you've got to try Ranier cherries..they are so good.
J/LIN: I still like to drink chocolate milk now and then..but have to mix it with regular milk to cut the sweetness..I guess I'm getting old..lol..
Zona: Oh ^5 on the diet coke! LOL at sucking the pimientos out. I like black olives and bread and butter pickles..YUM!
ReplyDeleteMo~ I used to love Diet Coke...when I had my kids...just like that I was a DP girl~ ....with three kids~
ReplyDeleteSackie!!! I KNOW!!!! I love those things~
Off to bed~ goodnight all~
ReplyDeleteGood night, Tina!
ReplyDeleteBebbi, every once in a great while, I'll head to Baskin-Robbins for a hot fudge sundae. It's like the craving builds up and up, until finally I can't resist it!
Mmm, black olives! The jumbo ones so you can eat them off your fingers!
ReplyDeleteOk, back from dinner and finally read all the posts. I love black and green olives but green best. ZONA, have you ever had them with feta cheese inside it or an anchovy...yum!
ReplyDeleteHad a yummy steak for dinner and now going to get ready for bed. It's been a long day and I didn't even drive once. We need to get an early start tomorrow as we have a long drive ahead of us.
Hope you all have a good night...and will check in soon.
DIANNE...safe travels and have a great trip
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember Calorie Commando on FoodTV? The chef, Juan Carlos Cruz was the host and he would make low calorie versions of comfort foods. I loved that show. He was so soft spoken and seemed so kind and caring. Now he was arrested for trying to have some homeless men kill his wife. WTF?
ReplyDeletePS no darn hairdryer either
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember the olive conversation in the Goldies' room in Chicago. I know you won't believe this, but there are some people who won't TOUCH an olive (Goldie and I can't remember who else). And Mo, we even talked about eating them off
ReplyDeletethe fingers.
Good evening everyone. I have been such a good girl today working outside and watching what I eat, then I come in here and BAM!! I find a Manor full of hot fudge Sundays, bread, chocolate,Sees Brittle, Pepsi and pizza!
ReplyDeleteBebbi,I will have to confess to my weaknesses now! I crave fresh baked pastries and strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I may have to rush to bed before I hit the frig lol!!
Tina, I cried my eyes out when my boys graduated. When my son drove off to Marine camp I actually ran down the road until I couldn't see his car anymore. You can imagine how I felt when war broke out in the Middle East and he was the first to go in! Some how we both survived. Be happy he will be in college & not in the military.
Stock up on tissues! lol!
Bebbi, I worked outside again today and spent a whole 13 minutes on the treadmill :). I sure have a long way to go to catch up with you!
Barb, I don't remember the olive thing, but I do remember Tina freaking out when a pickle was on her plate lol!!
ReplyDeleteDiane, no hair dryer? I would be so screwed! I count on those dryers. I would be on the phone calling housekeeping! My Niece Jaimie and I had the worst hair in Italy because we had the wrong plug in. It only worked in Paris. Our pictures sure show it lol!
ReplyDeleteTime to farm and head to bed. Busy day tomorrow. Nite all!
Mo: I saw that, but I couldn't remember ever seeing the show he did. People are weird.
ReplyDeleteOkay it's off to bed for me..
Mary: Way to go on your treadmill. What's the plan for tomorrow? I am planning on working out at lunch. When are you planning to hop on that elliptical or treadmill?
You are doing really good Mary...sorry I didn't answer your text but my phone died and I have to charge it by where I sleep...
Goodnight all!
50
ReplyDeleteSacBarb That's right! You served that salad to me on the last night I stayed with you. It kick started a major craving for it. I think I've finally had my fill for a while.
ReplyDeleteZona 2% milk with Hersheys Chocolate syrup in it is the only kind of chocolate milk that will do it for me. It is my drug of choice.
Bebbi I love black, green, and kalamata olives. I don't understand how anyone can not like them, especially the black ones (Goldie).
I will try to find Rainier cherries. I've never heard of them before!
ReplyDeleteI'm a black olive lover too, I think I could eat a whole can of them by myself.
I put black olives in spaghetti sauce and tuna salad, yum.
Dianne what are you doing in Texas?
MR. EBJ is watching the Survivor finale on the computer. I tried to tape it for him last night, but only the 1st hour recorded.
I think we need to get modernized and get a DVR. I still use VHS tapes!
Mary, The olive conversation took place before you guys arrived at the Goldies. It started when we were deciding on what to put on the pizza.
ReplyDeleteMo, I loved that show, too. What a shock. I had a snide remark typed, but decided it was too tacky, even for me.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, I see :)
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I hate olives! I love olive oil though.
I love dribbling it on toasted French bread...oye vey I need to go to bed and NOT dream of food!!
Now I am REALLY going to bed !
J/L, I'm glad you liked the salad, but I didn't mean for it to start a major craving for you. It really is good though.
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I had never tried Newman's Lite Balsamic Vinagrette before and it was perfect on that salad. Yum!
ReplyDelete
