Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell he is.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.
I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing.
I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.
Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate...(I really love this one)
I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.
The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die, they'll say, 'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'
If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years ...... just getting over the hill.
We all get heavier as we get older, because there's a lot more information in our heads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
AND
Every time I start thinking too much about how I look, I just find a Happy Hour and by the time I leave, I look just fine.
BAM!!
ReplyDeleteBAM...BAM!!
ReplyDelete....looks around in wonder....can't believe the "first spot Hog" hasn't posted....
ReplyDeletelol Mary....good one.....
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap! Ummmm I guess Deedee is the prettiest today. I see you have your retro Star Jones look going.
Mary all of those apply to me! I should walk, I know I should walk, but really why in the hell did God help invent horses, bikes, mules, cars, trains, buses etc.... then? That's my story and I am sticking to it.
These boots were made for walkin....
So Tina must be hiding out in her bedroom. I am assuming that the inlaws have arrived.
DeeDee..omg,, you are so super gorgeous today...!! Bam to you!! yay..finally beat out that Tina...amazing..she's a tough one.
ReplyDeleteMorning LynnD
Mary: LOL on the walking things..someone just sent me those the day before yesterday and they are so funny! Love them...especially the one about walking early before my brain knows what I am doing..lol...!
Got up early today and already worked out, got car ready..and packing now...
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteWOW where's Tina?? Huge congrats to Dee Dee!!
Mary I loved the blog, I agree that walking is good. Wish I didn't depend on the car so much.
My best friend just bought a bike so she can do errands without having to drive.
Hi Lynn and Bebbi... hope everyone has a good day. I'm off to work!
Cleanup in aisle 8 please.
ReplyDeleteMorning EBJ...busy day here..i hope you have a great day at work!
ReplyDeletethat comment in Chinese basically says.......
ReplyDelete"Very much, good sharing ~ gets along , invites respectfully forgiving if having disturbing that"
Interesting blog. Let's see... A world without walking. Well, SOMEONE'S gonna have to walk in order to serve those of us who don't.
ReplyDeleteWalking is freedom. Ask anyone who can't; either at all or without an aid of some kind.
No Frisbee, no early-morning runs, No flippin' mobility. Trapped in my own body? Sorry m8s.... I'll walk till the cows come home; longer if I can.
What'd you do. DeeDee? Duct tape Tina to her bed so she couldn't get first? Or maybe MIL tied her up and sewed her mouth shut? Maybe you're both working together?
ReplyDeleteWell, who is Shane Rogers and where'd he come from? Whatever the answer, welcome to Loonie-Ville.
ReplyDeletemorning everyone....
ReplyDeleteI tries a little darker foundation...ya think its workin' for me??
Anywho.....the electricity in my part of town seems to be having a problem......it went off again last night so I just threw the dog in the car and went to a local hotel for a few hours....
When I drove up there sit one of those charter buses.....the little window above the driver...you know...that says where it is going?? yeah...that one.....well it said "Glory Bound"....
Turns out it was a busload of Baptists on their way to Harlingen in the valley....and don't ask me why...I do not knnnowwwww.
Point is...3 people were working the check in desk....these Baptists had reservations and I did not so I was in one line and they were in the other 2....
Well I was wrapping up my check-in and a man from the bus was wrapping up his as well when he turned to the 60ish woman who had checked him in and said....
"Well I hope the porn channel in my room is disabled!!"
the clerk said..."no sir...it is regular porn".....then she turned to me and mouthed "sick bastard"...
No Bonachichi....
ReplyDeleteI haven't done anything to Tina....Matter of fact I haven't even heard but very little from her....
I think she is enjoying MIL being there...
I can see that she is working her farms and such but I guess she isn't doing any emailing...well...not to me anyway.....
She and MIL are prolly farming together and a lot of emailing would take away from their bonding time......they have so little of it you know.....
ROFLMAO@ disabled porn! Good one, Dee Dee!
ReplyDeleteMary: All I could think of when reading your blog was Wayne Newton! LOL!
So here we are, in Palm Springs for Memorial Day Weekend. Have fun, everybody!
DeeDee...I swear it is dangerous to take a drink of soda when reading your comments..OMG< Disabled porn..THAT WAS SO FUNNY!! LOLOLOL.
ReplyDeleteWhabby...have fun at the Palm Springs Memorial Day! Wow, sounds nice! :)
Bonachichi: I totally agree with you about walking, but the jokes WERE funny..so long as you really do walk. I feel lucky every day to be able to get up and walk.
DeeDee Congrats on finally returning to your proper position of prettiest in the nest. I see you have been working on your tan, too. Oh so pretty in pink!
ReplyDeleteLynnD Tina probably is hiding out Maybe we will be treated to more of your bathroom blogging.
Bebbi Kudos to you for getting your workout done early today. Getting ready for a trip would have been a good excuse not to.
EBJ Waving a wing at you. The rain stopped in time yesterday so the high school's outdoor graduation ceremony wasn't ruined.
Bonach You are right. I tend to take my mobility for granted, except when my sciatica acts up, that is.
Bear Have fun in the sun. Don't forget sun block.
Mary Thanks for the chuckles today. I know I should walk more but my sciatica and lack of enthusiasm prevent me from doing it. ;)
Good Morning!!
ReplyDeleteMARY: Love all of these..especially the second to the last one! If that were only true..I'd be frickin' brilliant..lol! Thanks for the laughs this morning!
DEEDEE: My my..that BAM BAM was just what you needed..you are looking just stunning today! :)
LYNN: I love to walk..it's just that my knees and I can't come to an agreement on the subject.. ;)
BEBBI: Decision is made..I'm getting an elliptical for my birthday..I may need some nudging too in August! :D
EBJ: I can't even imagine getting on a bike now..especially with those little racing seats..yeowch..that would be an embarrassing trip to the ER.. ;)
BEAR: Have fun in Palm Springs! It's going to be a warm weekend..but lends itself to lots of cool drinks!! :)....:D
J/LIN: Sciatica is the worst! Pain will tend to dampen your enthusiasm for anything..well..almost anything.. :D
DEEDEE: LOL!! I just got it!! See I told you I wished the second to the last joke was true.. :D
SACBARB: There were four hairs.. ;)
Happy Friday/Memorial weekend everybody.
ReplyDeleteSomeone sent this to me and I automatically thought of Bebbi!
I personally, love to walk. I don't walk as fast or as far as I used to, but I firmly believe in "use it or lose it".
Bebbi has gotten me back on track. I got on my treadmill and Elliptical machines today. I have a recumbent bike too, but needs a few bolts tightened up. I "lost a few screws" moving it into the house from the garage for the winter lol!
DeeDee,you are looking mighty fine today! Maybe a bit too much time in the tanning booth ijs
Bonachi,Tina never lets anyone near her mouth as they may disappear into the abyss lol!!
jk Tina ;-)
JustLinn,I hear yah about the sciatica. It has been giving be trouble all week.
EBJ,I am picturing myself and Raquel in your pool! She still talks about it and how beautiful your outdoor area was.
Whabbear,Wayne Newton? Was it the "annoying" part, or the "thighs? lol!
LynnD,LOL @ not-walking-excuses! You forgot golf carts, escalators, moving walkways,taxis..... we are getting lazy lol!
Hey!
ReplyDeleteJL it's gorgeous and warm here today, you'd never know we had rainstorms twice this week.
Mary we now have a big patio cover with a couple ceiling fans, so it will be cooler for parties in the back yard.
Poe was completely freaked out yesteray with all the noise from the cover being installed. MR. EBJ left him in his cage all day, and Poe protested by making disgusting farting sounds each time MR. E walked past him. HAHA!
My birdy is so smart and funny! :)
Zona, I saw a gal recently who had what looked like a tractor seat on her bike. I'm sure it was comfy but it looked bad!
What a way to advertise your "wide load".
What are everyone's plans for the holiday weekend?
We have a housewarming party to go to on Sunday, that's about it.
EBJ,We will be staying home for the Holiday.I have to help at out VFW. We feed a large group of military people who go cemetery to cometary to honor our Veterans.I will be a part of a couple of them. On Monday Mr Mary & I have an annual thing we do. We loan out out DJ/KJ equipment to a local town for their parade. It is a small town, but is always well attended. We also run a Karaoke contest for them, so It will be a busy week end.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful thing to do for the military people!!
MR. EBJ and my dad go every Memorial Day to the Golden Gate Military Cemetary near S. San Francisco.
MR. E's dad is buried there, and my dad has "adopted" several of the veterans buried there who have no family. They place bouquets of flowers on the graves.
I hope everyone has a safe weekend...
Good for you EBJ!!
ReplyDeleteWe usually have a high school band member play taps at each cemetery. That always gets to me.
I see Gary Coleman passed away today. He sure had a troubled adult life. Life after show biz was not easy for him. I think my son said he died of an aneurysm.
Thanks, Bebbi, J/L, and Zona! We're heading to Wangs in a couple of hours for happy hour, so yes, the cool drinks are definitely on the agenda!
ReplyDeleteJudy: Plans... well, tomorrow, we're BBQ'ing steak and chicken thighs for about 15, then going to a pool party Sunday afternoon. Life is hard!
But go get serious for a moment, Judy and Mary, kudos to you and Mr EBJ! I have never visited the military cemetery in Colma, but would like to. Here's to all those who are willing to leverage their lives for our freedom!
OMG, did I just say that? I sound like a Republican! LOL!
So quiet today... I guess everyone's getting a head start on their weekend. We're leaving around 6-ish and I'm told that even with an aircard, there's no getting out. I know. No tears, guys... (snort!) Tina, Bebbi & DeeDee, STOP doing that happy dance!
ReplyDeleteI'll stop in when I can, otherwise, have a great weekend Hooters!
Whabby, LMAO!!"Republican!" Tina would have spit out whatever was in her mouth ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a cold one for me please! I will lift one up for you!!
bbl need to make a pizza fixins' run
Mary I agree that walking is very important. I walk every day...from my computer chair to my TV chair. Usually several times a day.
ReplyDeleteDeeDee hun I don't think that hat is stopping the sun. ijs. Congrats on 1st...while it last. You-know-who will be back as soon as the in-laws leave.
ReplyDeleteGood evening DeeDee, Lynn D, Bebbie, EBJ, Bonachichi, Whabbear, Just Lin, Zona and Mary. I forgot about the holiday, So I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend. Have a hot dog for me, just ketchup on it...thanks!
ReplyDeleteMary I just reread your blog and if the second to the last one is true I have a hell of a lot of information in my head!
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley, looks like we are alone lol! I know Bebbi is on her way to New York,Bonachi is sorta camping, and Tina is busy with in-laws and graduations. There are a lot of Holiday things going on. I should be getting my equipment together for my Memorial Day Karaoke contest. I am putting up an orange plastic security fence this time. You wouldn't believe the people that ignore "do not enter" signs. We have all kinds of people trying to get under our canopy to get out of the sun. We have a lot of equipment in there and are busy with the singers. About 4 years a go the 10 year old daughter of the property owner told us " I can come in here if I want to" This is my Daddy's land" Cracked me up, unfortunately she was serious! She does the same thing every year and is getting on my last nerve. Her Father tries to explain to her, that it is ok. She should be 14 now and hopefully smarter lol!
ReplyDeleteWell there I go, writing a novel!
Thanks for all your comments. Have a safe Holiday week end!!
Good evening feathered friends!!
ReplyDeleteMARY...OMG so funny! Like SHIRLEY, I walk from one chair to the other and to and from the fridge! I seem to walk a lot in the middle of the night, as I seem to have to pee every few hours! Then there is the exercising of the right thumb...changing channels! I also get a good workout on my right arm...getting the fork from the plate to my mouth!
Most of you met me...do I look like I exercise?!?!
DEE DEE...you look, ummmm, beautiful? I agree with LYNN...you seem to be channeling Star Jones!
ReplyDeleteEBJ...Poe is so funny! What a personality and certainly a mind of his own!
ReplyDeleteI don't have much exciting planned for the 3 day weekend. Tomorrow I NEED to do laundry, go to the hospital and then I am going to stay at Sharon's. On Sunday I am going to help her do some work on Joanne's room and probably to the hospital. Monday...more of the same!
Your weekend sounds much more exciting!
So does WHABBY's and BEBBI's and MARY's!!
Hey kids,
ReplyDeleteNothing earth shaking happening here either. It is pouring rain and cold. If it does not clear up by Monday it may mean dinner out.
Mary you weekend sounds fun and exhausting at the same time.
Mo give your cousin a hug! I am really saying prayers for her.
Shirley I am exhausted I had to walk up and down our drive 4 times today. Now it is from the computer to the bathroom back and forth.
