History in the making...

Happy Birthday America!

It's a day to celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration was actually signed on July 2, 1776, but we celebrate on the 4th as that was the day Congress approved it.

As per Wiki.. John Adams wrote this letter to his wife Abagail:

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."

His letter to his wife is so jovial, you can almost hear it in his words. I love the last few words "from this time forward forever more" so profound.

And ever since that day in 1776, Americas have been celebrating just has he imagined. Such a great memory in our history.

So go out and enjoy the 4th! Just as he predicted.

  7. Happy 4th!

TINA and DEE DEE...it's a tie. Age before beauty, so DEE DEE wins. Sorry gorgeous!

I am at Sharon's. I finally convinced Joanne to go to the hospital yesterday morning. She is in ICU. She was severly dehydrated and has C-DIFF. It is a BAD infection in the bowels. I was kinda nervous since I am staying here, but they say it is only contagious if you touch her poopie...and I didn't do that! When we are at the hospital to see her, we have to don gloves and gowns. She is getting some fluids back, but they don't know if there is any kidney damage yet. They think not. Fingers crossed.

After I stayed in the ER with her and Sharon for a few hours I had to go into work. On the way back I stopped to buy bleach and I had a fricking flat tire. I waited there almost an hour in the 90*heat for my cousin Joe to come and put the donut tire on. I give up 4 hrs on my day off to try to catch up and now I have to spend that money for a tire! SOMNABITCH!!!

We are going to head to breakfast and then to the laundry to wash Joanne's poopie sheets and my clothes since I only brought one change of clothes...not expecting to be here so long!

I hope you all have a good holiday and enjoy the time with your family and friends!

Thanks for all of your support, it means so much to me.

  9. Happy 4th!

Mo, good to hear that Joanne is getting care. I can't imagine how painful it would be to decline from dehydration and a nasty bacteria like that.

I'm so glad she decided to go to the hospital.

We are going to put some shrimp (and salmon) on the barbi later on, just bbqing at home today. It is supposed to be 96 so we will be in the back yard most of the day.

We had a nice treat last night. The little town next to us has a celebration every year, bands, fireworks, etc.

At 9:30 we heard the fireworks starting, went outside, and got to watch the whole show from our front yard.

I'm trying to get the laundry done before it gets too hot! It's almost 80 already.

    Have a great day!

  10. Well I hope you all have a festive 4th......Me? Oh don't worry about me. I don't have any plans.
I wasn't invited to anything....everyone here has the day off so its just me and Belle....alone.....in the dark...

We had some fireworks left over from last year....but Blue peed on them...and they won't light....

Belle enjoys the windshield wipers in the car.....so maybe we will go sit in the car....in the garage...so she can bark at them every time they make a swipe across the glass.....while the garage fills with carbon monoxide....

Belles playmate....the neighbors dog with the hare-lip is outside "marking"....mark! mark!....wanting her to come out...but he is all festooned in July 4th regalia and she shant be excluded so maybe I can find a little flag or something for her to wave......

Well you guys eat a hot dog for us.....wait a minute! Hot dog? Just wait a f**king fourth of July minute!

    WE ARE GOING TO WEINERSCHNITZEL!!!

    YAY!!!!!!

  12. DeeDee~ maybe you should try making friends~ It would require you to be nice to others.....I'm not sure how far you'd like to go with this~ OR....you could just stay in the garage~ That would take care of this holiday and all the ones to come~ :D

  13. Yay DeeDee..go to Weinerschnitzal..or however you spell that.. ! Don't sit alone, Belle needs to get out and Partayyyyy...haha. :) You are so funny! :)

    Happy Fourth of July!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day with lots of over eating and merry drinking!

Did I just read that Tina tied Deedee up. Now that is no way to start a celebration. Well, unless you are into that.

  17. Happy 4th of July, HOoters!

Tina, Tina, Tina No celebrations on Sunday? What if Christmas Eve is on a Sunday? No family get-togethers where someone drinks too much of the spiked egg nog? Are you going to light a sparkler or two tonight in defiance? : )

DeeDee OMG! I love that Belle hates the windshield wipers! LMAO!!! And I LOVE the Kraut Dogs at der Weinerschnitzel! Enjoy! (I am loving the exclamation points today!)

MO Another way to look at it is that you've earned some extra pay just in time to cover the cost of the tire. I'm glad you didn't have to pee on the side of the road like another Owl we know and love (Jodi). I'm also glad Joanne is getting the care she needs.

Shirley Thank you and LOL @ fill in the blank.

EBJ I don't do well in the heat so I'm glad to be over here on the coast. It's a beautiful day and is about 72.

Bebbi Have fun! I was just admiring that Kentucky Derby glass yesterday that you gave us in Chicago. What a great idea that was and so neat that it has the date on it, too.

I hope everyone has a pleasant day. I will be working but at least I am working from home so that makes it easy.

  18. LynnD You popped in while I was typing. You're having margaritas from Angel's butt? Mmmm, to each his own. Enjoy!

    EBJ: It's 93 here now..only going to be 103 today..woohoo!

MO: I'm so sorry you've had such a rough weekend..I'm glad that Joanne agreed to go to the hospital and is getting treatment. I'd send you {{hugs}} but they'd be kinda sweaty.. ;) swak!!

DEEDEE: I hope you and Belle enjoy your wieners! :D

Waving wildly to BEBBI, SHIRLEY, LYNN and J/LIN!

My sister's birthday is Tuesday but we are going to roll two celebrations into one and have a barbecue and then cake and ice cream today.

  24. Hey!

Hope you all had a nice day today!!

I have to say, my bbq'd dinner turned out even better than I thought. We did everything on the grill, even the garlic bread!

So easy, so good, no hot kitchen from turning on the stove.

We spent a good part of the afternoon in the pool. I am a little sunburned and feeling good after a shower, and now chillin.

Carol good to "see" you!! :)

  25. Well we (me and Belle) went to Weinerschnitzel.....

We weren't going to go after Lynn D cussed me out but we regrouped. Apparently the price of Lynn's tolerance is more than a fine hair net.....

I choked on a pickle so barfing out the car door kinda took the fun out of the whole thing anyway.....

As with everything though there was a lesson to be learned.....I have a 2-door car and the doors open the opposite of most....from the front.....and the lesson is...if you go to Weinerschnitzel and choke on a pickle....just puke in your purse because it is going to get on the door of the car....and the purse is more readily replaceable...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hope you all had a nice holiday.
Except for barfing on the car, it sounds like you all did!!

Been a long day. Joanne now has blood clots in both legs. They have to watch the use of blood thinners due to the bleeding she is already have from the cancer. If they haven't dissolved by tomorrow they are going to do a procedure to place umbrella like stents to catch and stop the clots before they can reach the abdomen, lungs or heart.

She looks so frail. And so tired.

I will deal with the tire tomorrow.

We also have to go and rent a steam cleaner to try and clean the carpet in Joanne's room. I already bleached it to kill the bacteria, but now I have to try and get the stains out. And I am certainly not going to get on my hands and knees and scrub it!!!

So tired. See you all tomorrow at some point.

  27. Happy 4th of July everyone.

I'm here alone having a glass of wine (ok this is my second), watching Design Star marathon on HGTV and reading all the posts. I multi-task very well.

Tina, you definitely are the prettiest and Dee comes in a very close second. So what happens if Christmas is on a Sunday...does UT not celebrate until Monday?

What a prophetic letter John wrote to Abigail. So here we are, celebrating just as he said we would do. So, a very happy and safe holiday to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mo, I'm glad that Joanne has finally decided to get treatment. Sorry you had to use your OT to pay for the tire, but look at it this way...you would probably have had the flat tire anyway, and now you have a way to pay for it. ♥

Lynn, I read that today is one of the two days a year that Angel drinks, so both of you, hoist a Margarita for me and I'll drink a glass of wine for you and Angel. Then I'll probably have to go to bed.

Zona, wish your sis a happy birthday for me.

Waving a wing to all the other Owls. I hope everyone had a great day.
