I told you about Angela and her quest to win the Non-Rev challenge. Part of the contest is to get people to sponsor her either by the mile flown or just a set donation. Since she's been gone so much, I'm going to be doing the asking and collecting of money. The money goes to United Way. I don't think I'm going to do a clothing drive, tho! :D
Good Moaning~ :D
ReplyDeleteGood moanin Tina. I see you scared everyone off with your donation drive! Kinda hard to watch before breakfast!! ijs!!!
ReplyDeletethat was hot...
ReplyDeleteGood moaning TINA, MARY and DEE DEE.
ReplyDeleteI'll never get 1st by sleeping till 11!
We get at least 2 emails each day at work strongly encouraging us to donate to United Way. Auto donations from our checks...I can't do that. I gave 10 bucks yesterday and I'm done. It is actually on our performance evaluations if we contribute to charity events or not. I don't like that pressure...
Have a headache. Gonna find some food and maybe try to sleep it off.
looks like an F'ing waste of another day ahead...
Maureen...
ReplyDeleteThats a practice I have never liked...if a company supports a charity thats great.....but the intimidation tactics such as putting that stuff on evaluations to practically making uninterested parties feel like they are not team players is so unnessecary....
I have always believed in making it easier for people to donate through employee deductions..etc., to make whatever charity they choose a more fufilling experience for them...but in order to do that...as a company...the focus can't be on one organization but you should have a diversity of choices to offer.
And this is only to assist people in doing something important to THEM personally.....it should never be a PR opportunity for a company nor a means of making anyone feel pushed to support someone elses cause.
And even then perhaps an interest to everyone can't be represented...so what the hell does a persons charitable work have to do with job performance...
DEE DEE...when I had money, I donated to many charities I believed in. Some years I gave more then others, but I gave when I wanted to, not because I was hounded into it. I do resent the pressure they place on us.
ReplyDeleteI do credit the fact that our organization is a giving one. We donate to United Way, Harvest for Hunger, Susan G. Komen, Lee Denim Day, scarves for children at a local church, MedWish and many others. I can only give so much.
Then I have to add all the little cousins that show up at family functions with their cookie sales, popcorn sales, magazine sales, raffle tickets, etc...and shove their cute little faces in yours...
Leaves VERY little for the charities I would WANT to donate to.
Now my headache is even worse...LOL!
DEE DEE...btw...I was agreeing with you!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and then to have to feel bad when co-workers are bringing in the shit their kids have to sell...
ReplyDeleteHey Maureen, want to buy a raffle ticket?
ReplyDeleteTina I think you SHOULD have a clothing drive at your work. I think it would bring you and your co-workers closer and you would definately get to see more of them!! You and Janice could organize it. Snap some pictures and let us know how it goes! OK?
ReplyDeleteAfternoon Mary and DeeDee!
ReplyDeleteSHIRLEY...I'll take a book of raffle tickets, a $30 bag of popcorn, 736 magazine subscriptions and some nasty cookies...send them to my address:

Oh, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Considerate it done Maureen! Oh BTW did you want buttered popcorn or just plain? Buttered is $5 more.
ReplyDeleteButtered with caramel and nuts.
ReplyDeleteI know...$20 more
Mo, I love your address lol!!
ReplyDeleteShirley, Where are my Girl Scout cookies?Been waiting 3 yrs!!
Oh Mary I'm sorry! I think I may have put Canada on your address instead of USA. :)
ReplyDeleteGo ahead and send me some of that thar charity bits. Bill me in Grenwich Connecticut. Up yonder in Mianus.
ReplyDeleteI think Tina and Co. mean to do a good thing. It's a shame that corrupt charities have spoiled the pot for legitimate causes. Anyone seeing those pink breast cancer awareness ribbons for $5? Google "pink ribbon breast cancer bullshit" before you buy.
ReplyDeleteAs long as we remain stupid, "charities" like that will thrive.
check out google.com~ cool~
ReplyDeleteTina that was cool! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNighty night Hookers...I mean Hooter!! (wrong group of friends, oopsie)
ReplyDeleteTina Thanks for the blog today. I tried to watch the vid but your moaning was distracting me.
ReplyDeleteMO That's just not right that you should be required or coerced into donating to any charity. It's no longer a "donation" then, is it?
Waving a wing at all you Hooters and Hookers. You know who you are. LOL
What I find even worse Just Lin, is when they TELL me how much to donate. Back in the day a donation use to be how much you could afford...$1, $2, $5...whatever and they were glad to get it. Now I have people call TELLING me to donate $20, $50... Donating should make you feel good, not pressured. And that's all I have to say about that!
