Color, Cut, New You!

Time for a well needed change, so on Sunday, as I sat in the gray chair, you know the one, that swivels and goes up and down on command. I told my hair stylist to get rid of the highlights, and cut, cut, cut. She looked at me with those eyes that say "your kidding me right" and nope I was not kidding at all. I have been getting my hair highlighted for several years now, and truth be told, I was totally bored with it.

Away she went to stir up a new concoction for me, which she called lowlights. Two hours later, I was a brunette with some hardly seen streaks of different browns and a cut which is short in the back and longer in the front. My bangs swoop to the side with ease. I looked at myself with pride, as I was very happy with the results.

When I walked out I felt as if I was a new person, starting on new beginnings. I do not feel any attachment to any hair style I might get, so I new do is just what was needed for a new me.

I recommend it all. Try it, you are still you, its just the look that would be different, and I gotta tell, it feels great to look in the mirror and see a new me.

  1. Carol I'm a bit disappointed you didn't include a photo with your blog :(
Glad you like the new do!

  2. Congrats Shirley at least I think that is Shirley. Can't tell with all of that gear.

I am thinking about shaving it all off as it seems to be breaking off all by itself. Would be so much easier. :)

  3. Morning Lynn D!
Oops did I step on you in my eagerness to get to 1st?

  4. Lynn D I think I'll leave the hasmat suit on for awhile, cause a lot of people seem to be sick and I don't want to get sick.

  5. Good morning Shirley (congrats on #1) and LynnD.

I too, was disappointed there wasn't a pic of the new Carol. No way in hell am I getting into that chair... my hair's not gray and it doesn't like to be cut. The last time I tried to mess with the color, the result was what can only be described as "freckle".

Glad you all like to get spiffed up; Just not for me.

  6. Shirley! Oh, you are gorgeous!

Hey all, I invited a dear facebook friend (and more, she's a doll!)..to come here. Her name is Julie and I don't know what nickname she'll use but if she comes here please welcome her. We need a new owl or two around here.. especially with my lackodasical (sp?) appearances lately.

Carol: I think that is a great idea. I might do that soon. I am making BIG changes too.

Hugs to all who fly in today. Hello and good morning LynnD!

    Hello and good morning Bonachichi!!

  7. morning all!

well its true that there is nothing like a new "do" to put some spring in your step!

    Good for you Carol...!!

  8. and T-Bird....you have said it here that you clean up real nice...so cut the act!!

I could slap you into a ball gown and a tiara and you'd be just a big a princess as I am ....sayyy....at the Opera Ball in March!!?? ...or!! stomping puddles or banging symbals at the Rodeo Collection!!!

and what laughs we could have after we make bail....

  9. Oh no no no Bonachichi, I am not one who likes to get spiffed up. I never ever wear a dress. Don't even own one. I don't wear make up...never had it on. Of course my thinking behind that is that you can't improve on perfection. I have had grey hair for years and never colored it. (I always gasped at how much Carol said she paid) Now my older sister Marilyn changes her hair color. Right now it's a combo of brownish maroon with skunk stripes. I had long hair that I usually wore back in a ponytail for over 30 years, then one day on an impulse I got it all chopped off. Now I like it short.

Anyway, to make a long story longer, I am just a wash and go kind of gal. No spritz and sprays for me. I don't even own a hair dryer. So Bonachichi I'm with ya on the not getting spiffed up.

  10. Afternoon Bebbi and DeeDee!

DeeDee I asume you dresser, hair stylist and makeup person all have their own living quarters on your estate so they can be close in case of a malfunction, right?

    ReplyDelete
  11. lmao Shirley!!!

    OF COURSE NOT!!

    thats crazy talk!!! OMG...

They're all in the house with me...

  12. DeeDee, you caught me. Yes, I do clean up. I do wear dresses and makeup. I do style my hair. I have to. I want to look good in my mug shots.

Always wear clean underwear in case you're in an accident, and always look decent in case you get arrested. That's what I always say.

  13. Happy Wednesday Owls.

I am back from the family reunion and I am recovering nicely. tyvm.

My sisters-in-law and one of my Hubby's cousins spent a couple of days in the quaint Danish town of Solvang after the reunion. I even paid my dues at the Chumash casino, the same one where J/L left her money.

  14. Carol, please, please, please show us your new do. I am at the same place as you with my hair. I am tired of this style, but I don't know what I want to do with it. It's already short, so cutting it shorter would probably make me bald and I know I am not patient enough to endure the growing out stages, so what to do, what to do???? Maybe a wig is the answer!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Shirley, You are very lovely today in your chic hasmat suit.

Lynn, Maybe bald is the answer!

Bonachichi, I never thought I'd color my hair either, but when the gray started showing up, I quickly changed my mind.

Bebbi, I hope your BIG changes give you some peace.

Dee, I am so jealous that you have a live-in stylist. I really hate doing my hair and I am not good at it.

Zona, Thanks so much for keeping me company on my long drive home. ♥

  16. Sacbarb: Thank you. I am sure of it. :)

    Shirley: Hello!

I need to start worrying more about my appearance. I know I go out too often in my workout attire. I have been trying. I always color my hair and most of the time where makeup. I guess I am more of a relaxed person than a super dress up type person. I like jeans and such.

But, I can clean up really nicely if I put my mind to it. :)

I even look pretty sweet in high heels now-a-days! :)

I worked out at lunch today. I will have you all know that since my computer went down it has been hard for me to upload my steps so I haven't been wearing my pedometer for a couple of weeks. It feels weird without it, but I am still getting my steps in....

Take care all and have a great day! Miss you guys!

DeeDee: LOL at your hair dressers all being in the house with you. :)

    Okay..going, going, gone.

  17. CAROL: I finally took the leap last year and went to a real salon and got my hair cut by a real stylist. I was a little apprehensive so I didn't let her do much..but I liked what she did. Especially since I'd basically had the same cut since high school. As you can tell..I'm not much for change. I'm thinking of having her do something just a little different the next time I go in..just to keep my toe in that 'don't be afraid to change it up a bit' water. I have very little gray..and only 4 hairs..but we'll see what she can come up with. ;)

SHIRLEY: Hello Sunshine! I don't think any of us are contagious any*aaachhhoooo*more.. ;)

LYNN: LOL @ shaving it all off..I know the feeling!!

BONACHI: I've never had my hair colored either..it gets natural blond highlights in the summer..wish I could keep them, but I won't have it colored that way. Too many memories of seeing my mom color her hair I think.

BEBBI: I'm a jeans person too..I seriously have to get something a little more dressy to wear..you know, just in case there's a ball. ;) Hang in there kiddo..I know change is scary..but it is often for the best. :)

SACBARB: Welcome back!! It was fun listening in while you and George Clooney talked! :D

DEEDEE: I read 'do' and thought 'do do that voodoo that you do so well' but I don't really mean it.. ;)

  18. FROM 51:

BONACHI: I don't really like any of those kinds of gags either. I can't imagine what I'd do if someone did it to me. One thing I never understood..how all the victims are so furious when the prank is being pulled, but then find it funny when they realize it's for TV. I think I would be more upset. I don't mind AFHV though..just can't laugh the 1st or the 100th time they show a guy getting hit in the crotch. I'm still trying to understand why that's funny..Mr Z winces and then laughs..but he can't seem to explain why it's so hysterical..

JODI: Mr Z received your message! ;)I hope you're feeling better and getting some much needed rest!

MARY: Don't you dare go anywhere!

DIANNE: I did eat the soup..it just wasn't that great of a preventative..especially when sick husbands insist on smooching! ;)

J/LIN: Have a wonderful time on your cruise! Take lots of pictures!

    BIRDEE: I think I win this time..LOL! :D

    ReplyDelete
  19. wait a minute!! I was kidding!! I don't have a "live-in" dresser or hairstylist!! Crikey!!

I go to the salon for cuts and ...omg! I started to say color!! ...and everyone knows I am a natural blonde :)....

Sacbarb...I do have fine hair...like I think you do...there is a lot of it....but its like frog-fur.....so I just wear in a a pageboy at various lengths at different times...but never long enough that it would touch my shoulders...

You could wear a page boy...maybe with a half bang....but it would take some growing out....I can also see something short and spikey around your face...you know...not sticking up....just brushed toward your face....with a little mousse or gel....same with the bangs... piece-y...cute! cute! cute!

Bout time Zona! I was about to come looking for you!

    ReplyDelete
  20. DeeDee did you go and fire you dresser and hair stylist...again?? What are we ever going to do with you!! tsk! tsk! tsk! With 53 rooms in your mansion I would think there should be enough room for everyone to get along. Oh well, I guess your personal assistant will have to start looking for better help tomorrow.

  21. Zona I ain't taking this suit off until I don't hear a sneeze or cough for a 24 hour period. I'm not taking any chances. It is awkward when I have to go to the bathroom really really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Thank you SacBarb!

Glad you had a good time. Maybe you could use extentions, or you could get a perm like they did back in the 70's! A wig would be too hot, don't get that. Whatever you decide to do you will still look beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  23. CAROL - I would love to see a pic of you new 'doo!! It's been almost 2 years since I last colored my hair. I love that I don't have all that maintenance!! And I totally love a short cut....so much easier!! Especially with my schedule!!

    BARB - Welcome home ♥

Waving a wing at everyone!! I'll back out of here quick....still running a fever and feel like a piece of rat crap!!

    SHIRLEY....love your outfit ;)

  24. ZONA - I'd say smack him again, but I'm afraid you're enjoying this a little too much ;)

  26. SHIRLEY...a raving lunati...oops, I mean raving beauty!!

CAROL...I agree with the others...WHERE'S THE PIC! I would say it's a safe bet that whatever hairstyle you choose you will remain BEAUTIFUL!

I need to do something with the gray highlights, but it will have to wait a while. Maybe I will get to be quite fond of them and let them be...I am old, so why the hell not?!

    At the library...gotta go.

  28. Hi Everyone..

Sorry I did not include a photo.. I actually did not think about it until today when I read the comments.. as soon as a new photo is taken of me, I will certainly share.. I love the color.. its def darker.. and shorter.. it is a well needed change..

I have been watching the miners all day on and off.. how exciting to see them all come up in the capsule.. its amazing they are all so well.. when the last one came up, I was in tears.. Yay Chili.. Kudos to all.. Now I am waiting for the last rescue worker to come up.. and then they should shut that hole up forever!

Well.. here we go... Vincent is engaged!!! he went to Melissa's parents last week for their approval, and then brought the ring on Friday.. today is their anniversary, so he popped the question tonite.. It was just the two of them at his house, he had her follow rose pedals throughout the house until she came upon him.. cute.. I spoke with both of them, and they are both so happy. Melissa was beside herself.. she was at a lost for words..

And so my IS#2 is getting married in the near future.. Not sure when tho, but when I know of course you will know... I could not tell you all about the engagement cause Melissa reads the blog sometimes..

I just wonder if you are all up to me going on and on.. and I will def try to curtail myself this time.. cause I actually get tired of hearing me..

whew.. that was a novelette.. :)

  35. Jodi..

I love that you embraced the gray.. and it looks great on you.. Maybe someday I can to.. but for now, I will prob go broke on the money I spend on my hair.. this last trip..
    $185 with tip.. Yikes..

    ReplyDelete
  36. Good grief Carol, I don't spend $185.00 on groceries! I can't even imagine paying that for my hair!

10 bucks for a dry cut. That's it. If I let it go too long I sometimes have to pay $15.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jodi, you need some of Zona's magic soup. Feel better soon missy.

Carol, Yay for Vincent. I can't wait to hear all about the planning and following events. I never get tired of hearing about your family.

Mo, I don't remember you having any gray hair. I just remember you looked beautiful.

DeeDee, Thanks for the tips. Yes, my hair is very fine, but thin too. I don't think I have enough for a spiky do. Maybe I'll try the page boy.

Shirley, Thanks so much, you are so sweet. Extensions may be the answer to avoiding the pesky growing out period. You're right about a wig being hot. I'll scratch that idea.

  38. OK you coughing, sneezing, crud infected Owls, I'm going to bed. But first I'm going to check to see if everyone is out of that mine yet. Fantastic team work! A job well done! I hope the world was taking notes.

    Nighty night!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. SACBARB...thanks, but I think that before you do anything about your hair you should invest in stronger glasses...the better to see me with!

    SHIRLEY...sweet dreams ya bitch!! bwahahahaha!!!

CAROL...I can get my hair done for 3 years on 185 bucks! Hmmmm, perhaps that explains the look! :(

    ReplyDelete
  40. Welcome back, Barb, and Carol, I'd love to read and see more of you! Congrats on the engagement... I bet the wedding will be a hoot!

Not much to the grooming in our place. Huz and I cut our own hair, he in briefs and me naked, and we basically just take razors to each other's... heads.

Waving to Shirley, Lynn D, Zona, Bon, Bebbi, DeeDee, Jodi, Weenie, Goldie,

    Ok..I might have 6.. ;)

GOLDIE: See how my 4-6 hairs blow in the breeze? LOL! ;)

JODI: I hope you are feeling better when you wake up! Oh..and too late..I've already dealt with him.. ;)

Can I still take the nightime, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, stuffy head, fever so you can rest medicine if I only have 2of the symptoms? Oh heck..why not? ;)
