This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

An Oxy for the Morons
by Bonachichi
Sometimes I look at something and wonder how the human race survives. Other times I just laugh. Then once in a while, I do both. What’s your favorite oxymoron or irony?
Don't know what to add as Zona updated all of you yesterday.
I will say that the neurologist that Eva has is the best one at Mary Bridge childrens according to our other daughter who is a nurse in pediatrics in a medical facility here. She says if he is seeing hopeful signs he means it. So just keep praying and positive thoughts.
Eva is responding when she is upset. My daughter says she cries and cries loudly when she is displeased. She is still on a feeding tube but they are giving her pumped breast milk through the tube from Mom.
The doctors say she can come home when she can breathe on her own, which she is, can keep her respiration at a steady 60 (not quite there yet) and can suckle, breast feed on her own and no more seizures, which the anti seizure meds seem to have under control.
She has been moved out of the NICU but is on the same floor just graduated up some from the babies that are still intensive.
Eva will have her own neurologist and therapists as we progress through this process.
My daughter is upset this morning because Ritchie has the head cold and I won't be able to take him up there to see her until next week. Which means I can't go either. :( Mr. Lynn D is going to go up tomorrow to take my daughter any needed items and we are sending 3 of Eva's own sleepers up as she can now wear some of her own clothing.
How did this happen?
The Doctors think that Christmas Eve my daughter started labor as she was having contractions but they were not consistent. This started about 11 o' clock or midnight. She thought they were just Braxton Hicks.
By 2:30 her water broke and her mucous plug came out. So Mr. Lynn D took her off to the hospital.
When they got her there she was hooked up to the fetal monitor and at first all seemed fine, until she had a contraction then the babies heart rate went from 140 to 60. This sent alarms off and they decided to do an emergency see section. It was happening so fast and they could tell the baby was in distress, they did the up and down incision to get Eva out quickly.
Lynn D it sounds like Eva is one tough little girl! I hope she continues to improve more and more every day. I look forward to all the stories you will tell us about Eva and Ritchie! What was Ritchie's reaction when he first saw Eva? Is he excited to have a little sister? Take care of yourself. (((((HUGS))))
She was delivered at 4:40 am and at first all seemed fine. Mr. Lynn D came home about 6:30 and we were going to head up later. By 9:00 am my daughter called to tell us that Eva was seizing. She was then transported to Mary bridge withing the hour.
The doctors think at this point that is quite possible that when my daughter was having contractions Eva may have had the cord wrapped or was cutting off flow of oxygen she might have even had a bowel movement in the sac. No one is really sure. All we know is that at some point she had lack of oxygen and it has caused some brain trauma and abnormalities.
The Doctors and nurses do tell us that because she is a newborn and so young that the brain is still developing and they really don't have anyway to know at this point if any of it will be permanent.
The Doctor says every day she shows normal active responses her chances of lasting damage goes down. So we want this kid to cry, fuss, make faces etc... Which she is doing.
My daughter says she even opened her eyes and tried to focus yesterday. More progress.
I want to thank everyone for thinking about us. I know I have not been as responsive as I can be but I will be honest that this has thrown me for a huge loop. My Doctor had put me back on antidepressants at my appt. last week, and Eva's situation has seemed to sent me into a downward spiral right now. Ritchie is keeping me above water as he has to be cared for and is my light right now.
Mr. Lynn D took this week off so he and I have been taking turns with Ritchie. When I am really down he takes over.
We will get through this and out the other side but it is going to be a long process.
That is all I have in me right now. I have to go get showered and run to the store, can't put this off any longer and have to mail the bills. :|
LYNN: Thanks for the update. I also appreciate you giving an update to zona yesterday as I know we are all thinking of you every day.
I pray every day for your family and that Eva will be just fine. I can't even imagine the stress you are all under. I know it is hard but try and take care of yourself too. Ritchie may be an extra blessing for you right now to have around to keep your head above water. Again, please know I am thinking of you. xxoo
Bonach Thank you for the blog. I am too dull witted today to think of an oxymoron. Sometimes I am probably a moron, does that count? Anyway, the only one I can think of is the one everyone knows and loves-----government intelligence. Ha!
LynnD Breathe! I so wish some of us lived closer to you so we could lend a hand in some way just to make the day-to-day stuff a little easier and lighten your burden. Know that you are cared for and that many prayers are going out to you, Eva, and your entire family. So far, it sounds like there are some good signs and reasons to hope for a full recovery. (((HUGS))) to you.
Thinking of you too, Lynn, and all the family. Thanks for telling us more of the story. I'm optimistic, with the brain so plastic at that young age!
Shirley: Chain saw, hmmm? Filming "The Owl Manor Chainsaw Massacre", by any chance?
Bon: LOL! That immediately reminded me of driving in San Francisco many years ago. I was approaching the very steep rise on Divisadero Street that leads up from the Marina District to Pacific Heights. Just at the point where you start going up, the city had put a sign: Hill! And someone had sprayed graffiti on it, right below the word "Hill":
BONACHI: The first thing I thought of when I saw the pic was that someone probably tried to walk in the fountain, fell and then sued the city..so they put a sign up. Probably not too far fetched..lol..
I always liked the phrase 'better than new'..hmmmm..
DEEDEE: BAM..you pretty thing you! Oh and about the star..how do I do that..exactly? ;)
J/LIN: How about Congressional Ethics..that's always good for a laugh! ;D LOL@ the Godfather!!
DIANNE: How much snow have you gotten? We're getting flurries about 5 miles N of me..and in Scottsdale and Mesa!
SHIRLEY: The Ballroom? Sounds like this could be quite interesting!
LYNN - Take care of yourself. Sounds like Ritchie is just the thing you need to help you focus right now....and thankfully MR. D is there to lend a hand. Sounds like Eva is making positive progress. I have the next day off, so if you need to vent, cry....WHATEVER....you have my number ♥
It s "chocolate" diamond...I usually use it for a paperweight but I had it put on this necklace for a change.......
Kathy...I meant "start a far"...you know...in the farplace...
Shirley....not that ur preparing for anything in particular....but if it involves decorations...did I mention that my gown for New Years Eve is Winter Silvery White??
And could you remind everyone not to leave their plates in seats....I don't want a repeat of last year when I sat on that plate of rumake with those sharp toothpicks sticking straight up!
You mean I missed my own blog? Holy crap, I'm working too hard.
I love the absurd. I don't know why. The sign warning people of water in the middle of the fountains isn't technically an oxymoron, but I liked the title so I went with it.
Other amusements include braille on the drive-thru ATMs and a disabled parking spot for hiking trails. Things that make me go hmmmm.
LynnD, I hope the little one pulls through. My youngest was in NICU for 3 weeks. It sucks for everyone, and it's great that you're there for your family.
DeeDee, that rock would be good on a scuba weight belt, maybe. What's it do?
Lynn, I think there is nothing as upsetting as the worry over our children's and grandchildren's health. I think of you and pray everyday for Eva's full recovery. Love to You
What a great way to end a crapy day...A GREAT and positive Cary Grant book AND a post from LANI!!
LANI...So wonderful to see you! I was just asking ZONA about you yesterday. Welcome back dear one!!
LYNN...EVA is a little spitfire and she will use that inner strength to beat this. Afterall, she IS your granddaughter! Thanks for taking the time to update us. I can't imagine what you are going thru, but remember how much we love you and are praying for all of you. {{{HUGS}}}
I like JUMBO SHRIMP for an oxymoron! I don't know if it is technically and oxymoron, but the commercial that touted a HAPPY PERIOD is pretty moronic to me!!!
2011 is very near.. and I am so looking forward to it..
New Year, New Beginnings..

Shirley has prepared a News Years Eve Feast for us, she has decorated the main ballroom in owl manor. She put together a champagne tower with her own two hands..
