’3 Way Street’: Artist video tracks scary traffic

by Shirley

3-Way Street from ronconcocacola on Vimeo.

This is scary stuff! What's the traffic like in your town or city? Are you a courteous driver to bikers and pedestrians?

  2. Morning Glories,

Shirley I always ask why are people in such a damn rush?

I am a courteous driver and a defensive driver. You have to be anymore, even in our back woods people seem to think they can drive any speed limit they want. I blame it on NASCAR.

  3. Good Morning Tina and Lynn- I haven't looked at the video yet but I will. I must have some orange juice and get my second eye to open. It isn't even 7:00 yet. I don't know why I am up so early.

    Good Morning Lynn and Tinka!

I am a courteous driver, except if you get in my way! lol
No, seriously, I try to be good and I always yield to pedestrians.
Defense is a must in this city too.

  5. Shirley, Great blog. I bike a lot and try to be really careful. Things are not too bad here but they could use more bike routes.

  7. SHIRLEY: That was scary! When it gets hot here people, both pedestrians and motorists, don't care about anything but getting home. They drive too fast and they don't look out for each other. I sometimes think car horns and screeching tires are our summer theme song! Interesting blog..thank you!

    TINA: Loooooking Gooooood!! :D

Good Morning TINA, LYNN, TINKA and GOLDIE!

It's going to be 114 here today.. there's a heat advisory and a high pollution alert..oh and someone found a Gila Monster in their house yesterday! Sounds like a wonderful place to visit in the summer doesn't it? C'mon down..I have an extra room!!! :D

  8. BEBBI: Good Morning Sunshine!! They just striped a bike lane down one of the major streets by my house..it looks like a car must have been parked by the curb while they were doing this and they just went around it with the striping..because now the bike lane goes half-way into the traffic lane and then back to the curb again...I live in a goofy place..I'm tellin' ya..

  11. Lynn D it sounds a lot like the Indy 500 here where I live. I live on a corner and I always hear idiots squealing their tires and racing up the street. Most of the vehicles have loud exhaust systems too!

My sister was walk last week with 3 kids that she babysits for, and they were almost hit by a car that zoomed past them while they were in a crosswalk.

Think people! Think while you are driving!

  12. Today is a great day for this blog-especially here in Madtown.

This morning a woman was walking downtown, was in the crosswalk with the 'walk' sign on and a city Metro bus turning left ran her over! She was pinned under the bus and they had to use the jaws of life as well as put the bus up on some sort of jacks to get her out. No word yet on her condition.

In my opinion the bus drivers are the craziest drivers in this town. Far scarier then teenagers, but a close race between them and soccer moms in minivans on the phone!

  13. Goldie I hope the woman is ok. We don't have buses here but we have a couple taxis that have scared the crap out of me a couple time!

  14. Parking lots are bad too. Everyone is looking for that parking spot and not watching out for the people. Some people drive too fast in parking lots too.

  15. Sad to say the pedestrian hit by the bus this morning died. ;(

  16. Remember the road belongs to everyone, so be careful out there.

  17. Happy Wednesday Owls.

Shirley, That sure was a scary video. Here in CA the pedestrian has the right-of-way if they are in a crosswalk. If not they are on their own. In NYC, pedestrians take their life in their hands anytime they venture out and have no rights, I'm told. I have slowed down a lot in my advanced age, but a lot of drivers here also think the roads are a speedway.

  18. Tina, you are the prettiest today. And you are fight about UT drivers. I guess they think God will protect them.

  19. Goldie, I have heard bus drivers say they have a schedule to keep and they must keep it no matter what so motorists and pedestrians beware.

  28. No such thing as traffic here!! LOL

The farmers will take their machines down the road to get to another farm and sometimes that slows us down a little.

It takes me five minutes to get to my job, church, grocery store, or just about anywhere.

  29. That is so sad about the lady and the bus. :(

Mo, I said I missed you on the owl blog. I don't have your phone number and truth be told I'm not much of a phone person. My kids always seem to yell as soon as I get on the phone.

You were heavy in my thoughts. I hope that counts a little.

  30. Mo! I need your number again...~!!! I asked for it a while back and gave everyone mine... Can you send it to me again? Mine is 502-802-0990...Thanks!! :)
