The Madison Scouts

by Jodi

I have been a huge Madison Scouts fan for over 30 years. They are one of only two male only drum corps left in existence. Years ago they were a powerhouse in the drum corps world. They are known for their “wall of sound” and their innovative color guard. Starting last year, they have made a comeback to their old school roots.

Their show this year is called New York Morning. Their repertoire includes:

New York, New York (Leonard Bernstein)
Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’ (Richard Rodgers)
Beautiful Mourning (Robert W. Smith)
Requiem (Robert W. Smith)
Empire State of Mind (Alicia Keys, Shawn Carter, Jane’t Sewell, Angela Hunte, Al Shuckburgh, Burt Keyes and Sylvia Robinson)
It is their tribute to a great city and 9/11. Enjoy ♥

  2. Jodi...I think it is amazing that a town as small as Oregon has this caliber of band and drum corp...

I know the pride you feel because of my love for the Fighting Texas Aggie Band here in College Station...

  3. MICHAEL - They are actually from Madison! Their show this year just blows me away! And knowing the meaning behind it makes me tear up every time.

  4. as many of you prolly know by now Tina has to have a cholecystectomy next week...unless a slot opens up sooner...which I guess would mean somebody decided against using cholecystectomies'R'Us in the mall...

and btw....anyone out there needing a biliary vesicle donor can forget that! Tina is not an organ donor...I believe I have a quote from her on that...oh yes...here it is...

    "I'm keeping all my stuff!!

  6. Michael don't get your thong in a knot! I had my gallbladder out when I was 16. Major operation way back then. I still have the 10 inch scar, plus the idiot doctor put tape on my stomach that I was allergic to. What a mess that was.

Our lovely Tina will be back to moaning in no time. Maybe you should surprise her with a visit!

  7. Jodi the band was awesome! Thanks for sharing. Still can't figure out how people can keep a musical instrument in tune while marching and running around. Amazing!

  8. FYI Michael I have brown hair, not blonde.

  9. I am here Michael but I am not quite up to discussing big issues. For now I will just read what all the owls have to say. I also don't feel up to water therapy either. I think Tuesday "did me in". Even my fingers can hardly type. Enough about me when so many have real problems. I pray for all of them.

Tina - Good luck in what you are about to partake. I am not sure what it is all about.

    Shirley - Stay safe.

Michael - Good for you for keeping the blog going. I can see how hard you are working at it. You get three stars today.

Jodi - That band is terrific. I am going to listen to it a second time. It tears me up too.

Have a great day everyone. I will see you tomorrow.

  11. I have called in Dr. Bombay for Tina....only the best! And we have the best grappling hooks money can buy...

and of course I will be right there! I will be the last thing shes sees as they wheel her into surgery and the first thing she sees when she wakes up! ...provided of course that she wakes up....

And yes...biliary surgery used to be a booger to recover from. They have come a long way simplifying the removal procedure....

    Jodi that band is amazing!

What is this I read? Tina won't be able spread her bile soon? I hope you recover quickly! (((Hugs)))

J/L Thinking about you today. Love you.

  16. Hi Everyone.....

J/L: I am thinking about you today and sending warm thoughts to you

JODI; Thanks for sharing the blog with us today. I love all the marching music!! Almost makes me want to get out my baton!!!!

MICHAEL: I only told TINA yesterday that you would probably be the first person she would see when she wakes up from surgery. I knew you wouldn't let your good buddy go through this without you. Did she get you a buddy pass or are you on your own for that little trip?

SHIRLEY; Hope that hurricane stays away from you. My husband's family is in Virginia Beach so they are a little nervous about all of the weather news. They had the earthquake on Monday....glad I am in Colorado. They have closed down their employment for tomorrow and they will all be together at one place.......scary!

TINK: Sorry you are not feeling good today. It sometimes seems like those water exercises are too much for you. Maybe you need to go to the milder ones. Take care and rest today.

Hi LYNN: Do you have Eva saying Grandma yet? I see where she is talking more. You better get training her on that.....:)

  17. SHIRLEY - I was in marching band and I can't believe I was ever able to learn 10 minutes of music and drill. And then perform it!! I guess I best remember how, because they are having an alumni band next year for Oregon's 40th Anniversary year. Have mercy!! They not only want us to march in our Summerfest Parade, but also do a field show!! ZONA ya got a candle for that?!!?

  18. TINKA - Take care of yourself. I hope you're feeling better soon ♥

  19. SLIN - Waving a wing at you. (((hugs))) to you my friend ♥

  20. LYNN - You soooooo need to get Eva on video!! Of course, you won't be able to be in the room ;)

  24. Best be getting to bed. I have to open in the morning. Good night HOoters!!

  25. Dianne...

Me? Fly commercially? On a "buddy" pass? Have you taken a blow to head recently?

    In my starched nurses uniforms?

    no...I am "on my own"...

I am excited to try my new "wound sucker"....YES!! Instead of having a drain in the wound(s)you just stick this in occasionally and "Slurp slurp slurp"....

It looks just like a Dirt Devil with a tiny tube attached...but make no mistake...it is a very high tech medical instrument!

  26. JODI: I LOVE THIS!! I know that doesn't surprise you..I love watching and listening to marching bands..especially the drums! Thank you for re-awakening that interest over the last couple years!

..and ya know what..I just might have a candle for that..but I don't think you'll need it..you'll do great! :)

MICHAEL: When you go visit TINA..please remember to bring flowers for her room, ok?

    TINA: I definitely have a candle for THAT!! oh..and btw..we've had 2 dust storms..ijs.. ;D

TINKA: I agree with DI..I think this class is too intense for you..maybe you could go to the less rigorous one..or just slow down the pace in the one your in now. I hate that you are hurting so much.. :(

See y'all on the flip side!!
