by Zona and Mr. Zona
As most of you know..Mr. Z loves carving pumpkins for Halloween. I am always amazed by how he can take just about any picture and carve a pumpkin that looks so much like it...I'm lucky if I can carve the traditional triangle eyes, nose and jaggedy mouth!! Every year we have a big Halloween display in our front yard and we usually get anywhere from 200 to 400 trick or treaters. A lot of former neighbors are so impressed by the pumpkin patch section of the display that they have made it a tradition to come back year after year to see the new ones he's carved. I thought you might like to see some of the pumpkins Mr Z carved for this year..as well as a couple from previous years. I hope you like them! Happy Halloween!!

ReplyDeleteWe had a busy Halloween Eve yesterday with our little grandchildren. Now I am busy getting ready for the rest of the family.
ReplyDeleteJodi - Thank you for asking me to post pictures taken yesterday (area 51) but I am having trouble unloading my pictures onto my computer. I am going to have my Mac Geek out to take a look at it. I will post them when I can.
ReplyDeleteZona - Your husband's pumpkins are amazing. I would love to see the whole display. It must be fantastic. No wonder you get hundreds of trick or treaters. We will be lucky if we get a handful. We will have fun with the family however. I love Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHi T's and J!!
ReplyDeleteI like Heath Ledger as the Joker...I have never had any success with pumpkin carving...but I have fond memories of going to a pumpkin patch with friends and picking juuuust the right one...taking it home...preparing everything to carve our pumpkins all the while enjoying cocktails of the season....ahhh..good times....
Then trying to poke the first eye and realizing "hey this sucker is thick!" ....then another stabbing her hand while trying to cut that nice little lift-off toppy thingy...
Pretty soon there are pumpkin entrails and people bleeding all over the kitchen....and either mad or crying....drunk.
Some things are best left to the pro's....like Mr. Zona...
I just love the start of the holiday season....
Zona, These pumpkins are amazing! You should post a pic of your house too.

ReplyDeleteHodi Hi, HO! ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Guys!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween!
I thought I better check in early today..tonight is going to be crazy! Mr Z is setting up all the stuff in the front yard..so he is running in and out of the house like a maniac. It's like this every year..I just sit in the OFC and wait for him to hollar "Could ya help me?!!" lol..
TINA: You don't like Frankie?..well I nevah!! ;D The Planet of the Apes one is my fave..and of course..the Raiders are #1 in my book.. :D
JODI: I told him..he's smilin' from ear to ear.. :)
TINKA: The whole night goes by so fast..family and friends are here and gone..sometimes I think it would be nice if it was a little quieter. Randy loves all this commotion though! Have a good time tonight! :)
MICHAEL: I can't carve a pumpkin to save my life..I don't carve pumpkins because with my track record..my kitchen would be a mad, crying bloody mess too!!
BARB: I'm going to try and get some video..but it's always so crazy I tend to forget..big surprise..right? LOL!
Good luck today at the doctor..I hope your foot is much, much better! :)
I better get moving..so much to do..so little time!

Tinka About your photos....one of your kids or older grandkids might know how get the photos onto your computer.
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: HI!! I just checked the bags of candy..there are 900 pieces..it sounds like a lot but by about 8pm I'll be worried we're going to run out! Oh..and miraculously..I haven't eaten one piece..yet.. :D
ReplyDeleteSacBarb I hope you get good news from the foot doctor.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe I almost forgot..
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the compliments on the pumpkins..Mr Z is happy you liked them..and so am I!! :)
Zona I forgot to say that I really like all the pumpkins but I am partial to the Heath one.
ReplyDeleteJ/LIN: My sister and I talk about dressing up every year..but we haven't done that yet..I think we're too shy. It's so much fun to see the little kids in their costumes..I love it!

ReplyDeleteAfternoon/evening owls!!
BOOOOOOO!!!
Happy Halloween!!
Michael does Belle like snakes and creepy crawly things? There is a python that seems quite attracted to her. ijs
ReplyDeleteMuahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
Be careful were you sit Owls!!!!
omg...Shirley! ...Belle and I had a friend snake and she will alert me to the presence of a snake but I wouldn't say she "likes" them...and a python would squeeze the breath out of her and eat her...
ReplyDeleteThats an unnerving thought...but through a series of trials and errors she has learned what creepy crawlers she can play with and eventually eat....and the ones that will hurt her...
Wha...what is wrong with this cushion...I think someones purse is under it....YUP! Louis Vuitton! Its Mary's! Ya Know...I was a little nervous there for a moment WHOA!!!
Sofa cushion flies up!!...werewolf jumps out...rips off Michaels arm and starts beating Shirley with it!!
Happy Halloween Owls!!!!! Muahahahahaha!!!!!!! I have some wonderful culinary delites to make your tastebuds go wild! It wouldn't be Halloween without my famous penicilon pizza. This year I dusted the top with some fuzzy belly button link. mmmmmm! For appitizers I've made some fingers in a blanket and some bacon wrapped eyeballs. This year I also decided to get a nice firm rump roast. We have peanut butter and toe jam sandwiches. I've made some jello surprises and turd cookies for the kiddies. Lets see, what am I forgetting...ah yes, the punch. There's a little bit of everything in here, and there is plenty more in the kitchen. You'll find in the Red Cross containers. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteOh Michael Michael Michael he's just trying to be friendly!
ReplyDeleteWho's that behind you?
Computer not working (as usual). Happy Halloween to every one. Shirley the punch is sour!!!
ReplyDeleteZona, love the pumpkins especially my hunk Tim!!! Raiders I could do without. Next year bronco one, please.
Since I'm on phone a big hello to all I'm off to my sons
Dianne Have fun tonight! Sorry about your Broncos but sure am liking my 49ers this year. They rock!
ReplyDeleteShirley, Shirley, Shirley I sat down on the cushions and got goosed by a hand that wasn't attaached to anyone. How rude!
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me....anyone remember the old movie, "The Beast With Five Fingers" with Peter Lorre? I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
ReplyDeleteI successfully avoided any kids tonight! :)
ZONA...OMG! Mr.Z is AMAZING. I think Harry Potter is awesome! I will expect a Cary Grant next year to be posted ;)
Thanks Shirley for all the treats but I think I will pass this year. I am watching my weight.
ReplyDeleteMichael - Keep a close eye on Belle. I don't want to read about any encounters with snakes.
ReplyDeleteJodi - I had no trouble uploading my pictures tonight. I will put some up tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBarb - I like George too.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had fun at your podiatrists. Is he cute?
Just_Lin - My kids and grandkids know nothing about Macs. I have to hire a Mac Geek. They are all into PC's. They call me a Mac Geek. I was learning a lot when I went to classes every week but my brother-In-Law and I haven't been to a class in 3 years. His health hasn't been good and I am not up to sitting for two hours at a time.
ReplyDeleteZona - I keep wondering how busy you are right now. We have had 10 kids including our grandchildren. They were all dressed so cute or scary. We are sitting by the fire enjoying a Halloween movie on the TV. At our age that is just fine with us. We had our busy Halloween nights in the past and the last two days have been very busy with our grandchildren. It's nice to have some quiet time.
ReplyDeleteMaureen - Happy Halloween to you too. Yes Cary Grant and Elvis for next year. That is something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteDianne - Happy Halloween to you too. Have fun at your sons. Did your grandchildren go trick or treating?
ReplyDeleteI think I will get a head start on clearing all the Halloween stuff off my farms. Then I won't have to do it tomorrow. I love Halloween but as soon as it is over I want everything gone. There is nothing sadder than a jack-o-lantern the day after Halloween.
ReplyDeleteGood Night Owls. I hope you have all had fun.
