You always hear how 'kids say the darndest things'..well here's an instance where Grandma came up with a pretty good line herself!! Mr. Z and I were at the Dollar Store the other day..I was looking for a strainer and he was looking for Halloween stuff. I was walking around the corner of an aisle heading towards the kitchen gadgets when I saw a lady and a little girl looking at mousetraps. The little girl asked.."Grandma what are these?"..pointing to the traps. "Those are mousetraps." her grandmother answered. "Mousetraps?" asked her granddaughter.."Why do you want to trap a mouse..so you can keep it for a pet?" The grandmother seemed a little distracted as she replied.."It doesn't really trap the mouse..it kills it." The little girl's voice started quivering as she said..."Kills it? The mouse goes inside and gets KILLED??!!" Her grandmother suddenly seemed to realized what she had said and quickly answered "Oh no..no..what happens is the mouse sees the trap and it gets so scared it has a heart attack..." "Oh!" the little girl said calming down..."I guess that's ok..." Boy did that grandmother let out a huge sigh of relief!! I wanted to give her a high five and say "Nice save Grandma!" :D
Good Morning Owls.
ReplyDeleteFantastic story Zona. I laughed when you told me about this incident after it happened and I laughed even harder when I read about it. Your are such a good writer. You should write short stories for magazines. You have a real talent for it.
ReplyDeleteSplat!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Tinka! You're looking lovely today in 1st!
I had my flu shot yesterday and I swear the doctor gave me the flu. I feel like being wrapped in a blanket and lying on the chesterfield all day. I guess the symptoms should soon pass.
ReplyDeleteMichael - Where are you today? I didn't get a chance to tell you yesterday that I still have two wishes left.
ReplyDeleteCute story Zona! Even if you aren't a grandma you have to be careful how you phrase things when talking to kids. They are wayyyyy smarter than their ages now a days!
ReplyDeleteOh Hi Shirley. I see you landed in the nest. How are you today? You are looking lovely too.
ReplyDeleteMy house is decorated for Halloween. It looks pretty good. Last year I didn't get one trick-or-treater. My grandchildren always come but I love the little kids all dressed up and knocking on our door. I guess our street is too dark.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine Tinka! We had a light dusting of snow last night, but it's all gone now. 1C last night but my computer says it's 7C now.
ReplyDeleteTime for breakfast. See you all later. Have a great day everyone.
ReplyDeleteShirley - That's early for snow for you isn't it? I have relatives in Halifax who phone me regularly. They tell me that some years you don't get any snow. When I was child in N.S. we use to get a lot of snow. But the weather on the East Coast seems to have warmed up these past few years. It seems similar to our weather. We sometimes will have snow early in the winter but it doesn't last long. I hope we get some snow in December. About two days of snow is enough for us out here.
ReplyDeleteZONA - Cute story!! And nice save by the Grandma!
ReplyDeleteWaving a wing at TINKA and SHIRLEY!!
ReplyDeleteTINKA - I hope you liked the video I posted on your fb wall ♥
SHIRLEY - No snow here....yet!! As I've gotten older, I like it less and less!!
I best get going!! Apple crisp is in the oven and I have to keep going on my laundry.
ReplyDeleteWishing everyone a peaceful Friday ♥
ReplyDeleteTinka Good morning, beautiful lady. I did some Halloween decorating outside the house yesterday. I had to clear away real spider webs in order to put up fake ones. LOL We don't get that many trick-or-treaters now like we used to when my kids were little.
ReplyDeleteZona That was a funny story. Mousetraps are nasty things.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday Owls.
ReplyDeleteTinka, good morning pretty lady. I live on a dark street too, and I haven't had trick or treaters for the last four years. I usually buy candy just in case one wanders by, then I end up eating all of it, so I didn't get any this year.
Shirley, LOL at you writing 'now a days.' Reminded me of the blog the other day.
Hey Jodi, have you recovered from your vacation yet?
J/L, LOL @ taking down real webs for fake ones.
I'm having lunch with friends today and then we are going to see Ides of March with George Clooney. Have a good day everyone.
Tinka2 I think the incubation period for the flu is longer than that, plus the vaccine uses a killed virus. However, you could be having a bit of an allergic reaction to it. Of course, it could be that you are sick but picked up a bug elsewhere and it is just coincidental that you feel lousy today. I need to get my flu shot.
ReplyDeleteBarb Happy Birthday! Have fun today. Don't drink too much wine at lunch or you might not be able to follow the polt of the movie....ijs
ReplyDeleteShirley Brrrrrrrr!!!!
ReplyDeleteZona, Your blog made me laugh out loud. I've been in that position where I said something to a child that I had to lie my way out of. One really has to think fast when talking to a child...wouldn't want to damage the little dears...on purpose anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteHOdi Apple crisp! Yum! I can almost smell it baking.
ReplyDeleteThanks, J/L. Thanks. I may have a glass of wine at lunch because I am not driving, but I definitely don't want to be too impaired to watch George.
ReplyDelete25
ReplyDeleteBarb Happy Birthday! Just between you and me I think Just Lin may have been into the wine today after reading this comment from her...spelling is a bit off. LOL
ReplyDelete"Don't drink too much wine at lunch or you might not be able to follow the polt of the movie....ijs"
hello everyone...and Happy Birthday Barb!!
ReplyDeletethats funny J/L... getting the real ones down to put up the fake ones..
It has finally cooled down here and its rainy....very cozy...I love this kind of weather...
Shirley....my thingy says 43F for Halifax...what is 7C? OH! Celsius!
how embarrassing 7C=43F... :)
Shirley You mean you never heard of a polt? It's the sub-plot. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL
ReplyDeleteMichael You have a talking "thingy"? ;)
ReplyDelete30
ReplyDeleteno J/L...lq...my thingy doesn't talk but it does listen....
ReplyDeleteand it tells me the various details of the weather worldwide....I just say the name of the city I want to know about and viola! But it only does Halifax in Nova Scotia. It also tells me the time in that city...
Its hooked up to the internet...
Just one of those things for lazy people like me...
just another attempt to fill the voids in my empty life with material things...
sniff...sniff..
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Barb. Sorry I am late in wishing you a great day. Sending you love and hugs.
ReplyDeleteJodi - I saw your post telling me there was an Elvis video you put on for me. I had a little trouble finding it but it was worth it. I love that song. Thank you very much for thinking of us.
ReplyDeleteJust_Lin - I felt fine after a few hours of feeling yucky this morning. It might have been all in my imagination because I knew I had the flu shot yesterday.
ReplyDeleteMichael - A simple way to change
ReplyDeleteCelsius to Fahrenheit is to double it and add 32. For example 10C = 50F. Double the 10 and add 30. It doesn't work when the number get higher like over 26C but it is a good guide for an estimate.
Tinka That sounded funny! I am glad you knew you had a flu shot yesterday. Your mental alertness seems to be intact. LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Barb. Hope u enjoyed ur day.
ReplyDeleteZona, I think the blog story is so funny. I can just hear that grandma talking her way through it with the child
We r meeting with my brother and wife tonight to hear what his insurance company is helping them with on their house. They have a lot of support from people
I don't decorate for Halloween as we get no kids so we go to my sons house and enjoy the grandsons and their friends.
Hope everyone has a good Friday night
BARB - Happy Birthday ♥ And yes, after 2 weeks I think I'm finally back on a "normal" schedule!! lol!! And I know my liver is thanking me ;)
ReplyDeleteSLIN - All apple-y, cinnamon-y goodness!!
ReplyDeleteMICHAEL - Enjoy the weather!! As much as I miss the perfect weather of Hawaii, I must admit fall is my favorite season ♥
ReplyDeleteTINKA - I'm glad you found it and enjoyed it!!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Not even any green and gold lights?!!? ;)P Please give your brother and sister-in-law a (((hug))) from me!!
ReplyDeleteHoping everyone is having a good Friday night!! I work tomorrow, so it's off to bed for me.
ReplyDeleteGood night HOoters ♥

J/LIN: I asked my sister how many trick or treaters we had last year..she said over 300. We bought 7 huge bags of candy..I hope it's enough!!

MICHAEL: Randy said he heard it snowed in Texas..was he just fibbing?
DI: Well..it looks like we decorated for you here..blue and orange lights..yikes! ;D
GRIMM is on tonight..anyone else going to watch? I think it looks like it could be a really good show.

Zona Yikes! We might get 30 so I'm prepared for 60. Yes, I will be watching Grimm. Apparently, part of it was filmed in the wooded area at Reed College in Portland, just a few blocks from where my ex-fiance lives.
