Samsung's 40-inch SUR40 for Microsoft Surface tablet on pre-order...

by Michael

Samsung's SUR40 for Microsoft Surface:  Table, tablet, or maybe both?
Well, it surely isn't very mobile, but it is on pre-order in 23 countries, including the U.S.
The 40-inch touchscreen device, as the name implies, runs Microsoft's Surface software, which is most often found in Surface tables inside Microsoft Stores. The New York Times has done some experimenting with an older version of Microsoft's Surface technology too.
Microsoft and Samsung also showed off the SUR40, which has a 4-inch-thick display, at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and now you can buy one too -- if you've got the cash.
So, how much will it cost and when will it ship?
Obviously the SUR40 isn't meant to compete with Apple's iPad on price or size.
Jason Redmond, a Samsung spokesman, clarified the pricing and shipping details for the Technology blog in an email, saying:  Pricing is $8,400 USD for just the display unit and $9,049 with the legs as shown in the photo. It is sold without the legs for customers who are building a tabletop or display furniture around the SUR40. We will start shipping to customers in early January, not long after CES.
I know these are out of reach for us 99%.......but I just get excited about whats coming...and this is something we will all have in the not too distant future.
Of course I'll get one as soon as they ship.....I always have to be first. But as many of you may know...this isn't new....this touch and move stuff......they have just made it way better.....
btw...The Rosie show has turned out to be rather good.

  1. BAMM Back at you Gobble Gobble

I hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving! I will try to pop in tomorrow.

I know I have not been around but sadly I have had some very traumatic and trying times even in the last few weeks. Really I am so tired of this. Back to seeing my therapist and Shrink but I have decided that I am going to fight back and not let others drag me down. So baby steps will be taken and I hope to be my old self or maybe a new improved self soon.

    Love ya!

  4. Hi Lynn and Shirley...

I'm kidding about getting one of those things! Just saying...remember how big and expensive the first computers were? Or PC's will be touch and move eventually....small and reasonably priced...

    Shirley...Belle doesn't have accidents...that would be me... :/

  7. Shirley I resisted getting a cell phone for the longest time. Many people now only have cell phones and have done away with their land line phones. I still have both, though.

  9. Michael Do you feel okay? You have a rather flat affectation and are looking just a little greasy.

Thanks for the blog today. I don't want one of those.

  10. I gave up my iphone a couple of months ago in an effort to rid myself of things that were unnecessarily stressful.

I have had a cell phone since the early 90's....and I didn't think I could do without it...

    its been kinda nice...

  11. I'm cooking a turkey dinner today since my grandkids will be going back to their mother's house tonight. My brother will be cooking a turkey for himself for the first time tomorrow. I expect calls. He already called me about it last night. At least I'll be available to help him since my Thanksgiving Day will be easy, just heating up leftovers.

  18. Tina Yes, you are lucky that way. My husband liked to cook so I was lucky that way, too. I always did Thanksgiving dinner, though, after the first time that he cooked it and he put apples or something in the stuffing. I'm a traditionalist. I just want cornbread stuffing, no fancy stuff.
