My parents saw this movie and the hubby heard about it from friends. On Monday, he called me just as I was leaving work and asked if I wanted to go see it at 4pm......"but what about the kids?" We brought them with us. I don't think the boy cared for it, but the girl and I and hubby loved it. If you get a chance to see it, do~
"The Way" is a powerful and inspirational story about family, friends, and the challenges we face while navigating this ever-changing and complicated world. Martin Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to St. Jean Pied de Port, France to collect the remains of his adult son (played by Emilio Estevez), killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Rather than return home, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage to honor his son's desire to finish the journey. What Tom doesn't plan on is the profound impact the journey will have on him and his "California Bubble Life.”
Inexperienced as a trekker, Tom soon discovers that he will not be alone on this journey. On "The Way," Tom meets other pilgrims from around the world, each with their own issues and looking for greater meaning in their lives: a Dutchman (Yorick van Wageningen), a Canadian (Deborah Kara Unger) and an Irish writer (James Nesbitt), who is suffering from a bout of writer's block.
From the unexpected and, oftentimes, amusing experiences along "The Way," this unlikely quartet of misfits creates an everlasting bond and Tom begins to learn what it means to be a citizen of the world again. Through Tom's unresolved relationship with his son, he discovers the difference between "the life we live and the life we choose."
THE WAY, written and directed by Emilio Estevez, was filmed entirely in Spain and France along the actual Camino de Santiago.
riveting...
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Michael - You look lovely today.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get up energy to go to water therapy. I will get ready and decide later. I will also watch the video later Tina. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day owls.
Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteTINA: This movie looks really good! I like Martin Sheen a lot..and love how he's getting more grumpy with age..lol..I would love to see it..but I think Randy would have the same opinion as your son. He always wants to see the BAM! BOOM! POW! movies at the theater..not the heartwarming ones. Although..we did go see The Help..so there's a chance..a small one..Perhaps I just need to go with someone else this time..yes? :D
Congrats on FIRST today MICHAEL!
TINKA: It must be really hard to get motivated to go to water therapy in the winter..I know I would have a hard time getting in the pool! If you go..just remember to take it easy..ok? :)
I hope everyone has a good day!
Afternoon Michael (the beautiful), Tinka and Zona!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it would be a good movie. I'll check it out when it comes on DVD. Thanks Tina! BTW I'm still upset about that 975000 in Bejeweled Blitz! ijs
Good Morning Zona and Shirley.
ReplyDeleteI am home from therapy but it sure isn't fun in the winter. It's quite an effort to get there and back.
Zona - I took it easy but I still hurt. I think I will buy warm furry boots so I can just slip them on instead of struggling with shoes and socks. That might help.
Tina - I loved the video. I will buy it when it comes to DVD.
Shirley - I always wait too. I don't like sitting in movie theatres. I used to think it was fun to go to the movies but now I would rather watch them at home.
Michael Well, that was an understated first place arrival if I ever saw one. Congrats just the same.
ReplyDeleteI was so spellbound by the trailer that it left me speechless...
ReplyDeleteTinka Oh, I bet it must be hard to get up the enthusiasm for water therapy, especially when the weather is cold. I do enjoy going to do my exercises at Curves but I have days where I'm not up to it, either. The one that I go to is very close and convenient but they will be closing before the year is through so I need to figure out what I will do then. I know it is good for me so I need to find another place to exercise,
ReplyDeleteZona I haven't been to a movie theater since last May. I saw "Bridesmaids" which I thought was hilarious. I am interested in seeing the new Leo DiCaprio movie about J. Edgar Hoover.
ReplyDeleteShirley What? She couldn't get another 25,000 and hit a million? lq
ReplyDeleteTina I was reading about this movie recently. It looks good. I know Martin loves both his sons but it must be nice for him to have one that is not in the headlines acting like an ass and is, instead, working on serious projects. I wonder who's "winning" in the long run.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone--- I have heard of this movie and it looks good. Thanks for sharing Tina. Glad u enjoyed it

Hi Just_Lin - I had lots of enthusiasm for water therapy in the summer when I could just jump into shorts, top and crocs. Now it takes so long.
ReplyDeleteTina - I am considering your idea of giving water therapy up for lent and also advent. That would take me back to summer.
Dianne - You are right. It's the getting dressed that takes my energy. I never thought I would get to the point where I would struggle to bend over to put on socks. I do think I am now OLD! I also never thought I would ever say that.
Michael - I can't wait to see your blog. Is it anything like your defining old age yesterday? That was fun for us old folks. LOL
Off to check my farms and then to bed. Have fun kids.
Zona OMG! You have Christmas trees already?
ReplyDeleteTinka You need to get yourself some fuzzy boots you can slip into. One of the reasons I hate going clothes shopping is because of needing to try things on. All that dressing and undressing is exhausting!
ReplyDeleteDianne It's so nice that you have a group of friends that you can do those things with.
ReplyDeleteTina Are you ever going to have play photos to post?
ReplyDeleteMichael Yay for writing a blog for us.
ReplyDeleteI haven't put up my Christmas tree yet.
