If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.
With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.
With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.
If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock, you would have $49.00 left.
... But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of wine one year ago, drunk all the wine, then turned in the bottles for the recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
Let people you care about know this... And tell them to start now! I am passing this information on as a public service . . . There is no need to thank me.

If you had purchased 1,000 shares of google stock at $85,000 before it went public in August of 2004... at the close of business yestiddy you would have $478,000...
My brother in law is still kicking himself for not listening to me...and that makes me happy....since he and my devil sister love money more than anything...
I send them a note every time the stock has a gain or just to remind them that they lost out on the second best stock purchase opportunity of their lifetimes...and I tell them the same thing...

Shirley Good splatting to you. Thanks for the blog and too bad for me that I don't care for wine. I didn't wake up until 11:00 today because I couldn't fall asleep until after 4 a.m. I'm not sure why but I think it may have had to do with the caffeine in a Coke I was drinking late at night.
ReplyDeleteMichael Nice legs! Reminds me of a wishbone. There's a joke in there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteShirley~ I'm not sure how I feel about that there blag~ Couldn't you have chosen another airline? ija~

ReplyDeleteMy friend tried to talk her mom into buying $10,000 worth of Apple stock in the late 90's. Her mom decided against it and now needs knee replacement surgery because of all the times she's kicked herself over that decision.
MICHAEL: Zynga might not be a bad investment..if they fix their games first!
J/LIN: It's weird..I need DC to wake up..but the caffeine doesn't keep me awake if I want to go to sleep..hmmmm...
TINA: You meant on 'principal'..right? ;D
