My daughter is "in love" with Kelly Slater. She lives and breathes Kelly. Even her gingerbread house had "Kelly" spelled out on its roof! She wants to marry him. Who cares if he's married with children!! She's been watching the surf reports in Hawaii to see if "the Eddie" is on, so she knows when Kelly will be there. She wants to go when he does. She completely flipped out when she found out her Principal and his wife used to live next door to him. She called me screaming from school a couple of days ago when said Principal gave her his autographed, framed, freaking huge picture of Kelly. Well, I just saw this video and thought of "Kelly"~ Here's the info I found along with the video:
This day at Teahupoo- Aug 27th 2011 during the Billabong Pro waiting period is what many are calling the biggest and gnarliest Teahupoo ever ridden. Chris Bryan was fortunate enough to be there working for Billabong on a day that will go down in the history of big wave surfing. The French Navy labeled this day a double code red prohibiting and threatening to arrest anyone that entered the water.
Kelly Slater described the day by saying "witnessing this was a draining feeling being terrified for other people's lives all day long, it's life or death. Letting go of that rope one time can change your life and not many people will ever experience that in their life."
All images where shot by Chris Bryan using the Phantom HD Gold camera.
Probably the best way to view this video is full screen~ ijs~
BOOM!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteMichael had a boom,boom!
I can't even guess who that chair is for. lol
The video was absolutely amazing Tina but the surfers are morons. imjs
hi Lynn D!
ReplyDeleteI'd go to Tahiti to see that! I'd go to Tahiti to see Kelly Slater!
He was on Baywatch with Tittie-Tittie-Bang-Bang whore Pamela Anderson years ago...and he has grown into a gorgeous man....
Woof!
This is Tina's chair Lynn!!
ReplyDeleteTINA: Geez that's a gorgeous video!! I love to watch surfing..I've always loved the shots from inside a huge wave..very very cool! I googled Kelly Slater..your daughter has very good taste! :)
ReplyDeleteMICHAEL: You beautiful BOOMER you! Not so sure about the chair..maybe you should have said ZAP! instead of BOOM! though.. ;D
Good Morning LYNN! :)
Lots to do today..gotta get movin'..have a good day everyone! :)
Good Morning Michael, Lynn and Zona.
ReplyDeleteMichael - That is some chair you got for Tina. I am even happier now with mine. Tina's chair doesn't look very comfortable.
Lynn - I agree, "the surfers are morans". How could he risk his life like that? Why isn't he thinking of his family?
Zona - That's the first thing we have disagreed on. I do not like to watch surfing. It makes me nervous. Jack was watching over my shoulder and said "What is that? Are we going to watch his drown? Kelly did seem to disappear for a considerably long time. Add sharks to those waves and yes they are indeed "Nutz".
I talked Jack into cancelling his trip to Vancouver because of the icy roads and of course we wake up this morning and the temperature is well above freezing. At eleven last night it was raining with big snowflakes mixed in. This morning is the first day that the roofs on the houses are not white with frost. Dawn's dog has been staying at Cara's house while Dawn was in Mexico. Jack was going to deliver the dog to her. Now she must get over here for her dog. I guess I am in the dog house in her eyes.
ReplyDeleteOff to my farms to forget about my guilt at being wrong about the weather. I guess I shouldn't have watched the weather channel or listened to the forecasters.

ReplyDeleteTINKA: I'm sorry we disagree..I just love the beauty of the sport..the ocean waves..just they way they ride them..it's so cool..
ReplyDeleteDon't feel guilty..your intuition told you that Jack should stay home..and you went with that..it's better to listen to your gut..than to regret not having done so..
..and I'm out the door..bbl.. :)
ReplyDeleteZona - I love the sea. Throughout my whole life I have never lived more than a couple of miles from the ocean - the Atlantic for the first 4 years and the Pacific for the rest. I love to sit on shore and watch the waves roll in. I do not however like the large waves. They scare me. At the top of the Island we have Long Beach which is the open ocean and across from Japan. (The shores are just now filling up with junk from the Japanese 9.0 earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011.)
ReplyDeleteThere are huge waves and people love to surf there. It seems like almost every year there is some foolish tourist who stands on top of the rocks and is swept out by a rogue wave.
In Victoria when we have a severe storm the waves break over the wall and onto the road and graveyard next to it. Many graves have been washed out to sea. There are bad connotations for me concerning large waves. I am so glad that my kids and grandkids have no interest in surfing.
Zona - I really did have a bad feeling about Kevin coming down the malahat at five in the morning. I know Jack wishes he had gone to Vancouver today and taken Dawn her dog. He has not however mentioned that to me so he is being kind. I wish the weather forecasters were more accurate. I think it is difficult for them here because of our mountains.
ReplyDeleteTime for my nap. See you all later. Have fun today.
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteTINKA...I think you made the right call and I'm glad Jack listened. It came from a place of love.
LYNN...Happy Birthday to MR.LYNN!
Phase one of Operation MEekend is going as planned. Still in jammies, no phone calls, naps and reading. Perfect! Not too much more snow here, but a bit North and East of here they got 14 inches. I'm glad I am nice and cozy. Tomorrow my goal is to visit my "friends" at the library!
Enjoy the rest of your Saturday
I thought Tina would enjoy that chair knowing how much she likes to read...I mean its got that lamp thing right over head....
ReplyDeleteMaureen - I think I made the right call too. It has started to snow and Jack said there are 4 inches of snow at the farm which means Kevin would have been driving home in the snow. When a little voice keeps telling me something I do like to listen. I think it may be my sister still watching out for me.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of Operation MEekend. It sounds ideal and great for mental health.
Michael - I guess Tina likes to sit up straight to read her books. I like to curl up with a soft blanket around me and my 'fur babies' at my feet. I guess it's because I am so old.
Tinka...
ReplyDelete"because ur old!"
I don't think so! Your way sounds much better...I was just trying to be funny giving Tina "Old Sparky"...
MICHAEL...I think you should give TINA a table in front of her chair so she can make some shocking and electrifying cards!
ReplyDeleteMichael - I knew you were being funny because I know you wouldn't seriously give Tina such a "shocking" chair. You know you love her but you like to see her squirm. Is it a competition between the two of you?
ReplyDeleteMichael Are you sure that's a reading lamp on that chair. I think it might be a hair dryer. LOL
ReplyDeleteLynnD Competative surfers are a bit nuts. They have to be but they aren't truly morons. I guess it's kind of like racecar drivers. Very good at their craft but have to be willing to push the envelope.
ReplyDeleteTina No offense, but I don't think I'll try your chair out. I wonder what mine will look like.....hmmm.
ReplyDeleteZona I can't say that I had lots to do today and I didn't do much, either. Dianne was helping me cheer for my 49ers and we won a very exciting game. Quite a nail-biter. Now i'm helping her Broncos with my cheers.
ReplyDeleteTinka It's always better to err on the side of caution, right?
ReplyDeleteMO I love MEekends! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteJust-Lin - I'm with you. I don't want a turn on Tina's chair. I have enough excitement in my life don't you?
ReplyDeleteBoo hoo. Broncos lose. Yea for JL though. Her team won
ReplyDeleteDianne Thanks for cheering for the 49ers. It sure helped. Sorry I couldn't do as well for your Broncos.
