This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Love me some Jingle Balls! The nesters could could do a jingle tah tah commercial lol!
It is a winter wonderland here in Michigan. The bad part is ice is under all that snow! Our trees look so sad with the branches drooping to the ground and many snapping off! We have huge ones come down close to the road. Our very tall white pine has lost some of its beautiful branches. It's the same tree that gets hit by lightening a lot. Many have lost power. So far we have been spared! I took a risk and put a stuffed chicken in the oven. Have a great Sunday all!!
Mary Hope you don't lose power, or at least not until your chicken is done. Love me some roast chicken. Are you making gravy? I love chicken gravy. Actually, I love all gravy. LOL
I'm spending Christmas day with my daughter but will be alone on Christmas Eve so went to the Honey Baked ham store the other day and got the smallest ham they had; 7 lbs. I have started on it and will be so sick of it by the time Christmas comes around. LOL Am looking forward to making soup with the bone.
This commercial makes me laugh every time I see it, especially the guy who has to hold that last note! KMart must have hired a new ad man/woman. They also have those "ship my pants" commercials, which created a LOT of controversy, which cracked me up.
I am finally putting all my craft crap away because someone might actually want to play pool on Christmas Eve. I have invited the partner of the man whose memorial I went to last weekend. They both used to come for dinner on Christmas Eve for many years, then when Todd moved to Denver and I went there a couple of Christmases, things just changed. So Dwayne was very happy when I invited him again. He is having a very rough time dealing with losing Roger. They were together 18+ years. He said it would be like reliving the memories he had of the years they used to spend Christmas Eve with us. I also invited another couple that used to work with Roger and my sister. Since Dean's wife has to work, I just wanted this holiday to be more than just Dean, my sister and me.
J/L, I'm sorry you have to be alone on Christmas Eve. I wish we lived closer, you could join us, but have fun with your ham! ;)
Jodi.YOu will have all of Denver cheering with you next week. We don't like Cutler out here. Bears did miserable today, didn't they? We are now AFC West Champs and Manning broke Brady's record for touchdowns. We're lucky to have him.
Well, we had our Christmas with my son and family and everything was very nice. We took them to our favorite Mexican place after opening gifts. I'm still going to miss being with them for Christmas but at least today was good.
Jodi..enjoy your time off.
Jl...you're making me hungry for ham and it's not even my favorite. I think we'll go out to dinner on Christmas Eve and sleep early as we go to my daughters very early to watch the kids open gifts. It will be a long day.
Barb, very nice of you to invite all to you house for dinner. What are you doing with all your crafts? What are you cooking? If you already told us, I already forgot!!!
Mary, hope you didn't lose your power...that's always so scary. Did you get to eat your chicken? Yum. What are you cooking for Christmas?
Barb I imagine I could freeze some of the ham but I'm not good about doing that and then really eating the meat after it was frozen. I never find it as appetizing. I'm just weird that way.
That's very nice of you to invite Dwayne and the other couple to join you and your son and sister. What are you cooking?
Dianne I only get a ham once or twice a year and Honey Baked hams are exceptionally good. If I'm going to get one, that's the kind I get. On Christmas day, I'll be going to a buffet luncheon at a really nice restaurant with my daughter, her boyfriend and his father, who I've never met before. We also have never gone out on Christmas before so this will be a totally new experience.
I am fixing our traditional linguine with clam sauce, green salad, and garlic toast for Christmas Eve. One of the guests is bringing some kind of dessert. Christmas Eve is the Italian feast of Seven Fishes. My Mother used to cook seven different kinds of fish every Christmas Eve, and we had a big crowd every year. As the crowd dwindled over the years, we would cook less food until it is now just the pasta dish.
On Christmas Day I am cooking a prime rib, baked potatoes, green beans, green salad and crescent rolls. I don't know what I will have for dessert, yet.
Even though it's my day off, I need to hop in the shower. I have a long list of stuff to get done before tomorrow. Yesterday my boys lost the remote for the cable box and my hubby tried doing something with the tv, now I can't get the tv back on the correct channel for the cable box. Our tv is probably about 18 years old and we no longer have the remote for it. So I had to call Charter and they are sending a tech out this morning. The remote will turn the tv on, but not change the channel. I really have no time for this. I wanted to scream at my hubby yesterday, but for the sake of keeping the peace I didn't. Maybe it's time to just get a new tv for the living room.
I'm also playing Santa this morning. My friend Angie that I visited on Kauai is from here. She had called Mason's on Main (a restaurant) and JL Richards (a liquor store/meat market) for gift cards and a large bottle of Crown Royal for her Dad for Christmas. I picked them up and am delivering them to his business this morning.
Moanin peeps! It looks so eerie around here. I keep waiting for another tree or branch to drop! I am so glad I got all my shopping done early this year! I am making a full Mexican dinner for Christmas. I used to make ham & Prime rib along with the Mex. to please everyone. Now I just do the Mex and call it good lol! I don't stress so much anymore. I am not making dessert. I figure the truffles,Christmas cookies and fudge is good enough. I may break down and make a pumpkin pie.
We have not lost power, but many around us have, mostly due to downed tree branches.
Barb I teared up when you wrote about your friend. So hard to go through all those "first year without" our loved ones. It gets easier, but the memories are always there.Memories are good :)
JL,I hope Santa doesn't think I have been TOO naughty lol!!
Hodi, how cool you are playing Santa for your friend :) sorry about the remote thingy! That would be a catastrophe here lol!! Maybe it's time Santa upgraded your tv
Time to get to those cookies, well, after I check my FB LOL!
MARY - No freakin' way am I upgrading this tv. They seriously don't make them like this anymore. Picture and sound are fine!! You know what the problem was? Someone had accidentally switched the "input" on the remote. Ha!!! Oh, well. We got a new remote on the deal. Yay!!!
jodi. I totally agree. The new tv's just don't hack it anymore! Same with appliances. LOL @ the "input" Jim has accidentally (tipsy) hit that and couldn't figure out "wha hopin?" lol!!
Evening gals..wow , everyone is cooking such yummy things. Wish I could just make the rounds. Want to go with me, Jodi?
We are back to nice weather and I'm glad. I had my nails done today. I got a bright red with a snowflake on my ring fingers. Very different for me but pretty for a change.
Jodi, glad you got your tv fixed and it didn't cost you. Nice of you to deliver presents, too.
Ok. I don't know where to start my trip......clam sauce, ham or Mexican food. I'll pass on the lutefisk or whatever you call it. I'll bring a pumpkin pie to each house. See you soon...
DIANNE - I'd love to go with you!! I wouldn't make u try the lutefisk, although my MIL might ;) Your nails sound so cute. I had requested a snowflake, but my gal forgot. Oh, well....
Dianne, You should start out in the East because it's two or three hours earlier and just follow the sun out to the west. If you do it that way, you will hit my house before J/L's and we can both go get Bourbon balls. I do love those balls.
Mary, It was very sad that Roger died, but he had a rare blood disease and he was in a lot of pain, so it's better that it's over for him. We will do a toast to him.
I got up really early today so I could do some more cleaning before I went to get my hair cut and colored. I finally got the pool table cleared off. I wrapped the rest of the gifts and went to the gross-ry store to get the things I forgot the other day. How could I spend $175 and still not get everything? I just finished with the rest of the cleaning and now I am tuckered out. Good night and sweet dreams to you all. ♥
I think this commercial is very funny. The first time I saw it on tv I thought it was SNL rather than a real commercial. Lol
ReplyDeleteDianne Good morning! What are you doing up? You look Mah-velous.
ReplyDeleteTina This is one of the more clever commercials I've seen in a long time. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteLove me some Jingle Balls! The nesters could could do a jingle tah tah commercial lol!

ReplyDeleteDianne, I thought the same thing the first time I saw this commercial.
ReplyDeleteJ/L, Can't you freeze some of the ham so you can enjoy it later, when you aren't so sick of ham?
ReplyDeleteMary, Snow does make everything pretty, but it's a shame that it also can be dangerous to traverse.
ReplyDeleteJodi, when do you start your days off?

I'm still pondering on Barb's comment
ReplyDelete"have fun with your ham" LOL!
JL, yes I mad gravy. I also stuffed the huge chicken (with bread cubes for those with naughty minds lol) All was good!
Dianne yay for the Broncs and BooHoo for the Lions!
Love me some Jingle Balls!! Lol!!
ReplyDeleteSLIN - Your ham sounds delightful!!
ReplyDeleteDIANNE - Congrats to the Broncos!! The Packers lost, so I'm praying for an Eagle victory tonight!
ReplyDeleteMARY - So sorry about the Lions...but it did help the Packers.
ReplyDeleteBARB - So nice of u to include Dwayne again this year. I am off til Friday!!! Woot woot!!!
ReplyDeleteEagles won!! Now it all comes down to next Sunday when we play the Bears in Chicago. Have mercy!!!
ReplyDeleteJodi.YOu will have all of Denver cheering with you next week. We don't like Cutler out here. Bears did miserable today, didn't they? We are now AFC West Champs and Manning broke Brady's record for touchdowns. We're lucky to have him.

Heading back to bed. Fire is fed...life is good ♥

ReplyDeleteDianne Looks like the Niners will be playing their last game at Candlestick Park on Monday night. Kind of sad.

DIANNE - Glad everything went well yesterday! I think we'll need all the help we can get Sunday! Get your green and gold tassels ready :D
ReplyDeleteSLIN - I can remember yelling for your 9'ers in Hawaii. Sad, indeed :(
ReplyDeleteBARB - We're having our traditional lutefisk, lefse, and swedish meatballs Christmas Eve. I love hearing all about your Italian traditions!!
