  2. DIANNE - Good one! And I'm with SLIN!!

  3. I posted the the following in Area 51 this morning:

SLIN - Nothing better than beef stew on a rainy day. Glad your pt is going so well!! Proud of you pretty lady for working so hard ♥

DIANNE - We are shooting for Monday. He is actually going to go to "Saturday School" tomorrow. It's only for 2 hours, and I think it will be good to get back in the mindset. Plus he hasn't done as much work at home as I had hoped.

BARB - We were able to keep better control of the pain yesterday. Big lesson learned. How did the card making day go?

Looks like MARY is somewhere over the Atlantic this morning. Check in when you can!!!

  5. Jodi, We are moving right along with the cards. We have one more session scheduled for the 22nd and will probably get them finished that day.

  7. Just got back from dinner with Paul's side of the family. It was a birthday dinner for our God child Breanna. She's 24 today. Cute story came up tonight. Paul babysat Bre when she was a baby. First time having to change a diaper ever. All she had done was pee, but he felt the need to literally hose her down in the shower. He then proceeded to try to powder her bottom, and the powder exploded. Poor baby survived, but just. Lol!!

  8. Barb You inspired me to go online and order my Christmas cards. LOL

  9. HOdi Cute story about Paul. We all have to start somewhere. LOL

  11. Hellooooooo!

    I am still dragging!
My trip was fun. I met a lot of my girlfriend's, Brother's wife's relatives<------- that was a mouthful lol! I was surprised that so many had blue eyes lol! My Mother's side of the family are descendants from Spain. My horrible Spanish speaking and reading skills sure came in handy!
I wasn't impressed with the food. We went to the market and got food to make. Their eating habits are way out of whack lol! There is a lot of coffee drinking and congregating in the coffee shops and streets. The coffee was way to strong for me. I asked for hot choc. and got a small glass, so thick with choc.that I can only describe it like someone took 4 Hershey bars and melted them down in the glass! Mt spoon stood up in it by itself lol! I decided to do tea after that! Thanks goodness it tasted...like tea! ha! ha!!
My girlfriend is a shopping freek, so we spent a LOT of time going to many little shops1 We had and apartment in the old part of "El Puerto de Santa Maria". Her brothers apartment was about 7 feet from ours :)
We were in the town where Christopher Columbus was born. Pretty neat.

I will try to catch up with the past post soon.

BTW, Tina, I forgot he was in Spain. Is he liking it there?
I spoke to a young man (Nephew of friend's bro) He goes to local the University and speaks English very well. He sure was full of questions about America and our politics, more than some young ones around here lol!

  12. Tina You are very welcome. I hope you had a good day. I see you are still looking very McDreamy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Mary I'm surprised that you don't give high marks for the food. I expect there would be a number of things there that I wouldn't want to eat but hopefully plenty that I would. I would have had problems with the coffee, too, as I don't like it super strong. LOL at the hot chocolate.

  14. Yesterday I went with Sam to look at cars. Found her a really nice 2010 Honda Civic with only 65,000 miles. Yay!!! No more sharing....at least with her ;)

  15. Best get prettied up for work. Almost done with Gone Girl! Can't wait to get home and finish it. It's so good!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jodi, I loved the book Gone Girl and couldn't put it down. I read it in three days. I liked the movie, too, but they did leave out or quickly showed some key things from the book. Of course, the movie would have been much longer and they don't seem to want to do that!

Has Jake gone back to school yet? I hope he's progressing well.

Yay for Sam getting a car. Takes some of the burden off of you.

    ReplyDelete
  17. J/L, I hope all is well with you and Ursula.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hodi Yay for finding a car for Sam. That's a win/win for both of you. Just think...in a couple more years you may be able to put your chauffer hat away for good.

  19. Barb Ursula and I are both doing well. I took her for a nice long walk along the levee yesterday. We hadn't done that since I broke my shoulder. It was a nice day, clear and not too cold. Today is gloomier. I met friends for breakfast in Burlingame. I actually had to set the alarm and got up at 6:30. Glad I don't do that every day.

  20. BARB - The book was fabulous, but it totally leaves it open at the end for a sequel. Jake goes back to school tomorrow. He attended Saturday School yesterday, too. He had called me at the store at 8 am stating that he was really sore/in pain. And I just told him straight up that he will be uncomfortable for a bit longer, and that he will have to find a way to deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. SLIN - I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Jake will be 16 in August!!! Congrats on the 49er's win today!

  22. BARB IN COviaWA - Missing you!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dianne, we both took a loss today :(
I didn't see how your Broncs played. Our Lions sucked :(

Slin, glad you are doing well. What was wrong with Ursula?
I did like the beef tapas and wine :)

Jodi,You reminded me of some of my first beaters. I drove some dandys before I could afford a good one! I am glad Sam found something she liked.
Jake will have to deal with the pain fpr a while I'm sorry to say. Just tell him about my neighbor Jim who will be having his second leg removed this Tues.
I would appreciate if my owls send good thoughts, prayers or your fave. juu juu to him!

Sac Barb,I think I will download that book since you gave a good review :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mary I also really liked Gone Girl. It's a good read.

I'll be sending prayers and good thoughts to your neighbor. I'm so sorry he has to go through all this. It must be so difficult. The other day I was in a funky mood because I now have to take meds to improve my bone density. I had to have a little talk with myself and tell myself to snap out of it and stop the damn whining. There are so many people dealing with much more serious issues than I am, such as your neighbor. I think I was just rebelling against the whole aging process and all that comes with that. Oh, well. It's better than the alternative, right?

  25. Hello...I'm here. Been a busy weekend. I went to the movie yesterday to see St. Vincent with Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray. It was good. I thought it was going to be a comedy but it was sometimes funny but I wouldn't call it a comedy. It was kind of sad. It had a cute little boy in it too. I'd recommend it along with Interstellers. I'm getting to be a movie girl. Last night my friend and I went to our friends church for the annual Harvest dinner we go to each year. It is a Thanksgiving dinner and some entertainment afterwards. It was snowing and very icy but we braved it very slow!!

I've been finishing up celebrating birthday luncheons last week and over the weekend and one more next weekend. Louis and I still have a dinner to do too. I was so lucky to meet up with an old friend that I used to work with and became friends with that I hadn't seen for over 27 years. He and his wife live in Tennesee but he had to come up here for a few days. We were able to squeeze In an hour and a half at Starbucks Friday. It was so great to catch up. We always do Christmas cards and FB but we sure laughed about the old days.

Yes Mary, we had bad losses today. We looked terrible and were predicted to win. Bad the last two weeks. Looks like you had a great vacation. It sure went fast, didn't it? How did the men in your house cope?

Jodi, glad Sam found a car. That will be a big relief to you and good for her. Hope it all works out. My granddaughter wants to drive in this snow,,,scares me to death. I remember when Tina was going through that with Ryan....a long time ago. Hope also that Jake starts feeling better. Maybe school will take his mind off it. What is Saturday school?

JL, take your pills and hush. It could be lots worse as you mentioned. Wait until you are my age!! It gets worse. :) Are you getting in the Christmas mood? I kind of am and want to get the decorations up before Thanksgiving. Louis is going to Virginia to see one of his daughters and sister for the holiday so I need his help or rather he needs my help as he is the decorator.

Barb, I have my Christmas cards. I've had them for about a month. I really "made" them early this year. They even have our name printed on them. I'm quite talented you know? I haven't read Gone Girl but I still want to see the movie and it's on its way out around here. The movies seem to come and go so fast.

Sorry for the snow I sent some of you. I think I'm sending nice weather next for a few days as long as Tina doesn't send me any more of that white stuff snd 9 degrees temps.

  26. Whew...didn't mean to write a book!!

  27. DIANNE - Saturday School is from 9 am - 11 am. It is assigned to kids that need to catch up with homework. They also offer help after school on Tuesday - Thursday. So fun catching up with old friends! And yes, I still worry about my kids driving around in this crap!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. MARY - Sending prayers for your neighbor. He has been thru so much! And yes, I will be telling Jake about him. Looks like you had a beautiful trip! Loved looking at all your pics!

  29. Can't wait for tonight! Sam, my friend Tammy from work, and I are going to see Jake Shimabukuro at the Barrymore Threatre in Madison tonight. He plays the ukulele and is from Honolulu. I love Hawaiian music, but his playing is all about pop music!! Should be an awesome show! I posted a video of his on my FB wall. Aloha ♥

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hope you are having fun Jodi. I like Hawaiian music too.

I'm trying to watch Jimmy Fallon. I just do t like his show much. I like him okay but I think his games are stupid. I wish he would just Interview. When he had Leno on last week, it made me really miss him.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Dianne, I can't get into Fallon either! I'm guessing he is aiming for the "younger" audience. I am going to miss Letterman and Craig Ferguson :(

We have gotten a pile of snow here! The wind is making it worse! I blame Hodi for this mess lol!!!

JL, we have every right to be bitchy about growing old lol!!
Above ground is better, so I keep it to a minimum lol!!

  32. Good One Dianne! I need to get caught up on all the goings on in here. We are all moved in, as you guys are aware from FB. We have had many visitors already, and Katie and Tim are coming this weekend. I have been super tired. Last week I slept all afternoon. I usually only do that if I'm sick. And then on Saturday I took a 3 hour nap. I need to get my ass moving so that I have more energy. I think of you all often, and I'm so glad that we have FB to keep up with stuff too :-)
Dainne: I miss your smiling face! We need to schedule lunch....SOON! LOL!
Mary: I loved your pics from Spain! How exciting to go there. Looks like the crowds were not bad at all. Must have been the time of year?
Jodi, JLin, Barb, Tina.....Anyone else I missed....Hope you are all well!

  33. Barb in CO, Good to see you back in the nest. Are you all unpacked in the new house. The new kitty is so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  34. J/L, You are so right...any day above the dirt is a good day!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dianne, I watch Jimmy Falon and Seth Myers, but I am getting tired of all the repeat Late Night with Seth Myers shows. He has only been on since February and I think there have been as many repeats as new shows. I am about to give up on him.

    ReplyDelete
  36. House is as unpacked as its gonna get for a while at least :-) My craft stuff is still all out in the garage. No point in bringing it in until the craft room is ready. I need to research set ups, but have not done much. I have been told that that the lady across the street is a Stampin Up rep and that she has quite the craft room. So I am going to go over and introduce myself and ask to see her room :-)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Barb in CO, A friend of mine is a Stampin' Up rep, too and she has an incredible craft room, but it cost her a bundle. I'm trying to reorganize my craft crap, but it's not going well because I am now working on Christmas cards and it's a mess again!

  38. Hi, HOoters! Well, I was up at the butt crack of dawn. Not really but that's what 6:30 feels like to me. I'm waiting for a DISH Network guy to arrive. I've been hoping that my TV problems will be solved by him but the more I read about my problem on the internet, the more I think it's the TV. Bummer! It's very annoying to have the picture only stay on for one minute, or a few minutes, or a couple of hours, then disappear although the sound remains just fine.

We're having a rainy day here. Yay! We sure need it. I think we have a couple more coming up this week, too.

So, now my doctor is leaving it up to me as to if I take the medication to strengthen my bones or if I supplement my diet with Calcium and Vitamin D and lifestyle adjustments, i.e., eating calcium enriched foods and exercising. My bone density at this point is regarded as being mildly low. I'm thinking I might want to put off the medication for now as I don't like all the possible side effects and the one I took on Monday made my stomach not feel very well for almost the entire day. It finally felt okay in the evening. Granted it is only a once a week pill but I'd hate to have every Monday be the pits.

  39. Barbara in COviaWA It's good to see you here again. I'm not surprised at all that you are needing to catch up on rest now. You've been doing so much lately with all the moving and everything. Time to recharge!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dianne I like Jimmy okay and think the games are fine. It's a chance to see the guests actually being goofy and having fun rather than just sitting on the couch. Personally, I thought Jay was a terrible interviewer and much prefer Dave, anyway. I will definitely miss him.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Barb I'm having a hard time getting into Seth Myers and I got tired of Craig's schtik a while ago. Many times I'll choose between Dave or Jimmy depending on who the guests are. One thing I really like about Dave is that he will sometimes having a serious guest on (not celebrity) and have a serious discussion about a topic of importance to the world.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mary I've definitely been doing my share of whining and bitching lately. LOL

Love you pics of Spain. Did you feel you were there long enough or did the end of your vacation come to soon?

    ReplyDelete
  43. HOdi How was the Hawaiian music? Did you get up and hula?

    ReplyDelete
  44. The concert was fabulous! He only played one traditional Hawaiian song. Most of the concert was pop, rock and he even played a beautiful rendition of Ava Maria.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Barb....I have my b-day cards done through the end of the year. I need to make a couple Thank You cards though. Just dont want to go out in the cold garage and dig around for what I need :-( Decided on photo cards this year since everything is still packed.

Jlin.....I tried taking calcium and got THE WORST headaches ever. So I stopped taking them.

    ReplyDelete
  46. BARB IN COviaWA - I didn't do any cards last year, so I'm trying to get all 5 of us together (easier said than done) for a picture card.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I love Jimmy Fallon!! I love his energy, the games. All of it! I've been a fan of his since his SNL days.

    ReplyDelete
  48. MARY - Welcome home! Looks like you had a fabulous trip! I would love to get to Spain. The AFS student my senior year is from Spain. We reconnected on FB 5 years ago and the area where she lives is lovely. And NO, don't go blaming this dang weather on me. I think it's TINA's fault ;)

  49. Heading out soon for our staff meeting. Being that it is so close to Thanksgiving, we are having a potluck dinner. We also have two special guests. Our District Leader Kristy (love her!!) and our Food Service District Leader Travis.

Have a good night HOoters ♥
