Best Senior Pick-up Line

by Dianne

A very elderly gentleman, walks into an upscale cocktail lounge.

He was in his mid nineties.

He was very well dressed, hair well groomed, great looking suit, flower in his lapel and smelling slightly of a good after shave.

He presented a very well looked after image.

Seated at the bar was an elderly really classy looking lady, (mid eighties).

The sharp old gentleman walks over and sits along side her.

He orders a drink.

He takes a sip.

He slowly turns to her and says, "So tell me, do I come here often?"

  1. Mary I saw Kenny Rogers many, many years ago when he still looked like Kenny Rogers. I don't know who talked him into that ill-advised cosmetic surgery. That's terrible about the woman in the restaurant. If we're out together again and you start to pass out, I promise not to run away from you. LOL When I was reading that story, I first thought you would write that she was choking, You must be right that it was really about drugs. Her so-called friends must have been "holding".

  2. Hodi Your Melissa's attitude would drive me nuts! I'm the kind of person that balances my own check book to the penny and if it's off by the slightest amount, I'll find it and correct it, by god! LOL I also understand that paying an hourly worker to sit there looking for 6 cents in coins is not cost effective. At the animal clinic we had an envelope under the coin tray with a few dollars in coins in it. If we were over or under by a few cents we either took it from there, if needed to make up the difference, or put it in there, if we were over, whatever the case. We kept a running tally of what was in there right on the envelope. Each entry was dated and initialed by the person getting into the envelope and a new running total recorded. Checks and credit cards always had to be perfect, of course.

How fun that you all were able to meet up with Sue! That's great!

  3. SLIN - My problem with her attitude is she doesn't think a paper trail is important. I think it may just bite her in the ass. And she really has a hard time seeing the big picture and making corrections to shift tapes. She came from a store that did a 1/3 of the business we do and wasn't open 24 hours.

  4. Hi....Yay for our Broncos and Packers today. Our game was not pretty. Peyton had no protection but our defense won it for us. I was glad to see Seattle lose..what an upset.

Jodi, boy Melissa would drive me crazy. Maybe she shouldn't be a manager.

JL, get shellac polish on your nails. It will last me three weeks until they take it off. They had a lot of pretty colors too. How did your team do today or did they play yet?

Barb, glad Chad did so much for you. Also glad you got your nails done. I mean some things are just Important, right? Hope you continue to get better each day. Are you glad you had the surgery?

I have a couple of dr appts this week. Tomorrow is my annual cancer check up. I always get a little nervous plus they will be looking for a vein again on me....not so easy.

We had a fun weekend. Went to house warming in Cheyenne that was nice. It was about two hours away. The bad part on way home there was a wildfire so the hwy was closed down. We had to sit there for a long time and then a detour. It took us four hours to get home at night. Today we went to our friends for a Bronco party.

Mary, did Kenny Rogers sound good? Like if you didn't look would it have been like the old days? Is he really 77? How did everyone get do old? Especially me!!

  6. Dianne, I was afraid about having back surgery at first, but when I was having so much pain and nothing really controlled it, I decided anything would be better. Now that I am not in pain anymore, except for the healing pain which is getting less as time goes on, I am so glad that I had the surgery.

  7. Jodi, I think having a meeting with Melissa and the District Manager is a good idea, and probably sooner than later! The longer it goes on, the more frustrated and stressed you will be! I think that upper management would be concerned that she isn't more diligent about being accurate. It could be a big problem if thay ever get audited by the IRS! How in the world did she become a Manager?

  8. J/L, When do you leave for SoCal?

  9. Mary, I saw Kenny on TV a couple of years ago and he doesn't even look like the same person. I think it was on Extra or one of those shows, so he didn't sing. He has just had wayyy too much cosmetic work done!

  10. BARB - I have no idea, other than the fact that she worked her way up. She truly doesn't have to be good at everything. If you surround yourself with people that balance your short comings. The thing that pisses me off is that instead of thanking me, she poo poo'd what I had to say.

  11. HOdi Melissa is a moron. When it comes to money, a paper trail is ALWAYS important. The district manager would not like knowing she has that attitude. A little too easy to skim a little something off the top when no one's keeping close track of things.

  12. Dianne Good luck with your doctor appointment. I'll keep my fingers and tassels crossed for you. To be honest, I haven't been keeping close tabs on the football, yet, but I don't think the 49ers have had their first real game yet.

  13. Barb I leave for SoCal on Sunday and will return on the night of the 29th. My dog will be staying with my daughter. She'll have fun at her house with her two dogs plus my daughter takes the dogs out to the dog park every day. It will kind of be like my dog is going away to camp. LOL

  14. SLIN - I know!!! I have had to keep my cool this past week. I was waiting for the results of our inventory before going to Kristy. I really want to plant the seed in Milissa's head that we need a meeting with her to see what exactly is expected of us, bookwork wise. Sounds like Ursula will have a blast staying with Liz! Vacation for you both!

  15. Just making a quick fly-by before heading to Vegas. I need to hit the shower and finish packing. My lower back pain always flares up when I am packing. Too much bending and lifting. Old ailments from my days at General Motors.

Dianne, yay Broncs, Boo Lions, good luck on your appointment and Kenny R. started bad, but did improve later. Kind of sad watching his decline :(

Hodi,I wonder how management would like it if you were as careless as Milissa? JS

JL, Have a great trip! I wish my Zoie had a fun day camp lol! Matthew adores her so I know she is in good hands.

Barb,Yay for your nails lol! I like to get mine shellacked. I am hard on my nails and they are not as strong as Missy Hodi's lol!

Well, I am off like a prom dress!!! Have a great week everyone!!!

  16. Mary Have fun in Vegas! Is it bad luck to wish you good luck? LOL In live theater they always say, "Break a leg". What do they say for slot machine play? Break a finger? LOL Anyway, safe travels. It's nice that you have someone at home to take care of Zoie so you don't have to worry any about that.

  17. JL lol, I think " good luck" is perfect, thanks! We're on board and skyward bound!

  18. MARY - I would guess that I would be at least written up, if not fired. I hope you have landed by now and are having fun! Good luck lady!

  19. Hello everyone.....How's everyone doing? Mary, have a great time in Vegas. I wish you were coming through Denver on your trip. Maybe next time. I hope you win a lot of money...seems like you always have a win.

Jodi, I would have that meeting. Could it make it bad for you with Melissa if you do?

Barb, so glad you had your surgery and it's working out for you. Anything is better than pain. N cat time you get your nails done, get a little flower on a nail for a change.

Had my dr appt and don't have to go back for a year as long as I continue my other dr follow ups. Seems like I'm always going to a dr. ...every darn week.

Anyone watch DWTS tonight? It was pretty good. I haven't watched it for a few years. I wanted to see Paula Dean and Gary Bussey.

    ReplyDelete
  20. DIANNE - I would never go behind her back. I think a meeting with her, myself and our District Leader is in order. Glad your appointment went well!! And dang, forgot about DWTS!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jodi, You really are in a difficult situation. If Melissa doesn't agree to a meeting with the District Manager you can request one, but you will need to tell Melissa that you're sorry she doesn't agree, but you feel strongly about it and that you are going to request a meeting with the DM and Melissa. The request should be in writing and CC Melissa. That way you aren't going over her head without trying to get a resolution with your direct supervisor first and you are doing a big CYA! Good Luck.

  22. Mary, I hope you win big! And have fun, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dianne, I didn't watch DWTS, but I recorded it. When I went to watch it, it only recorded the last half. I don't know why that happened. I'm sure it must have been 'operator error' though!

  24. So both Ursula and you are going on 'vacation.' LOL

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mary I'm hope you're on a winning streak and enjoying the hell out of your time in Vegas. Are you going to see any shows while you're there?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dianne I watched DWTS last night and all I can say is, "Gary Busey! OMG!" I am not a Paula fan and I thought her little remark was tasteless. I can't stand her laugh, either. The sooner she's off, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

  27. HOdi I hope you get that meeting that you want. Something needs to change. Primarily, Melissa's attitude and skill set.

  28. Barb I'm glad you were able to get your nails done. I know when mine start looking crappy it makes me feel crappy. Same with my hair. Fortunately, I have a hair appointment on Thursday and I plan to get my nails done tomorrow.

  29. Tonight my friends and I had dinner then went to see the movie, "A Walk in the Woods" with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. We all enjoyed it. How did Redford get so old and I didn't? LOL

  30. Hello...looks like Mary is having fun in Vegas. I think she always does.

Not much new here. For one day no dr visit....eye dr tomorrow.

Watched the debate and now it's time for bed.
