This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
I didn't see that there was a new blog so this is what I wrote on old blog:
Dianne I'm still on the fence about going to the dinner tonight as I still have a lot of chest congestion. Maybe it will be better after being up moving around longer.
I'm glad you enjoyed the craft show and it sounds like Louis did, too, in spite of himself. LOL I haven't bought a single Christmas present and only have a few stocking stuffers.
Congrats to Kayla's cheer team. I'm glad she's doing so well.
Barb We had some real, honest to goodness, rain this morning. I loved being woken up by it and drifting back to sleep to it. It seems like it's been a long time since that happened.
Yes, I like the house colors. When I take a pic of it with my phone, the colors really don't come out true and that is disappointing. Besides, my lawn and plants are in such bad shape now from the drought that it doesn't look as nice as it could.
Mary Yes, the tragedy in France is sickening. Since my grandfather came from Paris, my daughter and I were thinking of going there next year. She and her boyfriend have already been but I haven't and it is really the only thing on my bucket list.
HOdi I wonder what I would look like if I let my hair go. I don't think I'd look cute like you do. When you actually are old like I am, gray just makes you look older. At the reunion I noticed there were lots of very, very blond women who used to be brunette. I guess that's because most of them live near the southern California beaches now that they are adults and being blond is a SoCal kind of thing.
Hi..Jodi, our teams did terrible today. Congratulations to Mary and her team though. Quite an upset. On our game Peyton threw so many interceptions that he was pulled from the game. Sad as he won a throwing award early for in the game. Coach is saying he was hurt. Who knows.
I'll never go gray either as I'm too old. My daughter or granddaughters better never let me either when I'm in a nursing home.
Went to breakfast with my friend then home to watch game and wrap. Louis helped me and we're pretty caught up. He's putting up the tree so we can have a place to put the presents. We're not doing other decorating yet, just the tree. I'd like to do the whole thing even though we don't do very much. After that show yesterday...I'm ready for decorations.
I have my first pat of some bladder surgery on Wednesday. If it works then I have the final one the first part of December. It's called Interstim. I'm sort of anxious to do it but also nervous. Tomorrow I have to get blood drawn so two days this week of vein searching...ow!!
I'm getting ready next week to tell my hairdresser that I'm not going to her anymore after 30 years. I'm really nervous to tell her. It's a ot an hour from my house and not a great part of town. I'm always uncomfortable driving in the area. I want to switch to someone in my area. I have a name of someone that I'm going to call and hope she can match my color...I do have the formula. I'll probably end up crawling back in a month but with the weather, I'm going to blame Louis. I hope I don't end up with orange hair!!
Dianne Good luck on your surgery. It's normal to feel anxious about any procedure beforehand but try to look forward to the end result, instead.
A new hairdresser may not use the same hair dyes as your old one but they will have swatches for you to look at and choose from or even to combine. I'm sure your present hairdresser will understand that you need to find someone closer.
SLIN - Hey pretty lady!! Could Liz maybe take a pic with her camera? You could crop out the lawn. It's raining here this morning as I'm typing. Thankfully it's warm enough that it's not snow!! It was so beautiful here this weekend. In the 60's again! Loving the nice weather, but I'm scared we're really going to get dumped on soon.
DIANNE - I don't even want to talk about Sunday. UGH!!! Good for you and Louis on getting all that wrapping done! I hope your new hairdresser works out for you! I couldn't imagine driving an hour. And good luck on Wednesday. Love u ♥
Yesterday was a long day. Worked 4 - 12:30 pm. Staff meeting from 5 - 6:30 pm. And bowling at 8 pm!!! Oh, and I had to make a dessert for another store. We lost to them in our last pizza sale. I tried a new recipe I found on FB. A no-bake eclair cake. Can't wait to hear back how it was. It looked delicious and was super easy to make! Bowling was fun last night. Our best bowler is having carpel tunnel issues, so he bowled 40-50 pins below his average. I on the other hand did great! 104 147 154!!! woot woot!
Just looked at the forecast. We will be getting out first snow of the season on Friday night. It's not getting any warmer, so I decided to put the flannel sheets on our bed. Hunkering down on this rainy day with a movie.
Jodi, Great bowling scores! I think I saw a no bake eclair recipe on FB made with graham crackers. It looked really good and very easy. Was that the one you made? I already have the flannel sheets on my bed. Our temps have been up and down, but it looks like it's gonna be cold from now on.
J/L, I'm sorry you still don't feel well. I hate being all stuffed up where I can't breathe. I did a lot of online shopping on Sunday and the stuff I ordered from Amazon arrived yesterday. I usually get my orders in about two days but never have I gotten them the next day. I am very impressed with Amazon, especially in this busy season.
Dianne, I have an appointment tomorrow to get the gray out! My hairdresser guy has a lot of health problems and I keep thinking he is going to retire any minute, but I don't think he can afford it. Maybe when he does retire, I will consider more seriously going au natural. I have thought about trying on some gray wigs to see how it would look. I'm just afraid it would make me look much older. I never realized I was so vain until I started thinking about letting my hair go all gray.
BARB - Yes, the recipe had graham crackers. No hurt in trying the au natural route. You can always get it colored again if you don't like it. Enjoy your mani/pedi!
I made a pot roast for myself tonight. I hadn't done that in quite a while. It was tasty but since there's only me here, I guess I'll be eating it for another night or two. What I don't eat, the dog enjoys immensely.
J/L, I was lucky this year because both Todd and Vicki had an Amazon wish list going. Since I have to mail their gifts to San Diego, I wanted to start early. Usually I have to beg them for a list or I just send them each a check and a gift certificate to Pet Smart. They take their dog to doggy day camp there twice a week to give him a break from being alone all day while hey are at work.
I have no idea what I am going to get the rest of the clan. I don't have that many to buy for, but it is always hard because the rest (except Chad and my grandson) are all at a point in their lives where they don't want or need anything. My FIL is 90 and I never know what to get him. He doesn't like to go out to eat, so a gift cert is out. Frankly it is really a pain coming up with something to get him. I may just send him food from one of those catalogs.
Helloooo! I can't watch the vid :(. Vids just eat up too much of our monthly data. One bad thing about living in the country!
I don't even want to think about Christmas! I need to get Thanksgiving done first! I am having family over. I will do a little decorating, but not a tree until after the first week in Dec.
SacBarb, I too have thought about trying on a gray wig! I think I would do the gray highlights first so as not to shock anyone lol!!
Dianne, I switched hair dressers and Salon this year, mostly to follow my favorite hairdresser after she quit. I felt so guilty for a while! I had been to that Salon for many years!
JustL, You do need to move around to get that congestion moving out of your body. I sure hope you get better soon! BTW, you should go to France! It was a trip I will cherish always, that and Italy!
Hodi, Your no bake sounds good. I will have to check it out. WTG on your bowling!! BTW, you can just blow that snow down to Dianne mk?
I went to our G.M. UAW Retiree's Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. We had a small 50/50 drawing which they split 3 ways (50/50/ LOL). They drew my number! I then drew the next number. I drew my own name! I was almost afraid to draw the next one lol! Thank goodness I didn't. Those older retirees can be vicious lol!!
Hi. So Mary, what did you win at your luncheon? I also have bad news for you, the storms usually blow from Tina, to me, to you and Jodi ..sorry but that's the order of snow nine out of ten times. Sooooo, guess what's coming? My friend and I are going to another friends annual church Thanksgiving dinner Saturday night. We give a donation to the church and enjoy music and food.
Im Doing so-so since my first part of the surgery yesterday. I slept through...thank goodness. I haven't noticed any change for the good yet. Hope it works. The good part was special vein nurse found it first poke. Just laying around sleeping today.
JL, I hope you're better. If not, you might need to go to the dr for that congestion. Be careful.
Wow Jodi, your bowling is good. You're becoming a pro. I think your dessert sounds wonderful. I wish you could bring me one. Btw, our Peyton is out this week against the Bears so big cheering for us with our back up.
Barb, I didn't think it got cold enough there for flannel sheets. Whew, I'd be sweating if I used them. Isn't shopping with Amazon awesome? I love their fast service. I've done almost all my shopping online. I don't get to stores much any,ore so I'm really glad for online.
Well, guess I'll roll over on these wires on my butt ...kind of hurts to do it. :)
Barb While I was sick, I should have been addressing the Christmas cards I was so proud that I bought way ahead of time. But did I? No! Not a single one.
Mary I have been moving around a bit except for the two days I had a bit of a temperature. I slept a lot on those days and watched shows I had recorded. I have been out to breakfast/lunch and gone to post office and grocery shopping. I still have some congestion but it's all in my head. LOL Today I go get my hair cut and dyed. At this point, I can't imagine that I'd be contagious still. My hairdresser knows I've been sick but said to come anyway. I'm really hoping I will be good by early next week to get my flu shot.
Dianne I don't have flannel sheets but I do have an electric blanket and I actually turned in on one night recently when it was especially cold and I also had a temp and felt like I couldn't warm up. I turn the heat way down in the house when I go to bed as I like breathing cool air when sleeping.
I lost track of when you were having that surgery. I'm glad you're home and have that behind you. Speaking of behinds......you have wires on your butt?
Yes JL, I have wires taped to both sides of my butt cheeks under the skin. I have a remote box to control the pressure. It's supposed to send electric signs from my brain to bladder. Weird huh? It's very uncomfortable to sit or lay with these things poking into me. It's called Intrastim. If it works then I'll go back on the 9th for the real surgery where they cut you open a slight and put a little box like a pacemaker in me and I won't be able to even feel it. I've talked online to some women that have had it done and swear by it. My insurance does cover it as long as I do this test first. I have to get this all done now before I go on Medicare January 1. Hope it works.
Today Louis drove me to Social Security to get my paperwork approved to start 1/1/16. There was not enough time to mail it and couldn't do it online since Ive been on his insurance. We waited three hours and ten minutes for our number to be called. I was glad I brought the walker as it as standing room only. It only took ten minutes because I had everything I needed and done correctly.....thank goodness. I had a primary dr appt today and darn if I didn't miss it as I thought it was at 11 but it was at ten. Had to reschedule and I really wanted to get in to change some meds to generic for Medicare to like!! Now I have to see the PA on Monday.
Ok there's my current medical history that I'm sure none of you really wanted to know about but I'm just so happy to have the Medicare taken care of and I feel well today.
It's very windy and snowing here but supposed to stop by morning. I hope so. I get to go to two Thanksgiving dinners tomorrow night at the church and Sunday at my daughters...just us. Her boyfriend is cooking and I'm bringing a pie. Might even get some left overs from Tammys as I sure won't on Thursday.
JL, glad you're up and moving around. You do need those shots. Who.ever thought at our age we'd be worried about getting a shot!! Maybe a Jell-O shot....
Dianne, actually, I was fascinated reading your med report lol! I am "ass-suming" you are having bladder trouble? The news on tv is all about the upcoming snow storm. I see you are confessing to sending it our way!!!Bleck!
JL, we never turn the heat on in our bedroom. We both like it that way. We quit using the electric blanket when Zoie moved in lol! My girlfriend made me a beautiful quilt. It keeps us plenty warm.
I have my turkey defrosting slowly in the frig. It's a big one!
Mary I'm going to be alone on Thanksgiving so I just bought a turkey breast since I only like the white meat and it will be more than enough for me, including plenty of leftovers and turkey sandwiches.
DIANNE - Whoa...I hope this test works!! And I will definitely be wearing my blue and orange tassels tomorrow. Broncos need to beat those Stinky Bears!!!
SLIN - Waving a wing back atcha!! I was suppose to give a double red on Thursday, but my iron level was just shy of being high enough. I did stay and give a whole blood donation. Better to give a little than none. I hope you are well enough to get your flu shot next week!
I'm up early on my day off because Alex asked if I could work at his store for about 6 hours today. The overtime was approved so I said yes!!! Should be fun. His store is across from Camp Randall Stadium and it's the last home game for the Wisconsin Badgers!!!
I went to the newest Hunger Games movie; Mockingjay Part 2 with Dustin last night. It was so good!!! It had started snowing here about an hour before I left for the movie. Roads were mostly wet, but I took it easy. Same on the way home. Just stuck to the "back roads". Its still snowing this morning, so I'm going to leave early for my shift at Alex's store.
Tina Thanks for the vid. I liked it.

HOdi I love eclairs so your no-bake eclair cake sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteHey, you're getting to be quite the bowler. Good scores!
