Tailgating

by Dianne

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him.

He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hit the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger-printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him.”

"I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."

  1. Dianne Ha! Good one! There are way too many "do as I say, not as I do" folks out there, that's for sure.

  2. Hey, HOoters! Where is everybody? It looks like it's going to be a nice day today. I do see a marine layer hanging over the ocean, though. I don't have much of anything to report. I live a boring life. I did get my hair cut and dyed yesterday. That was my big outing along with going to the gross-ry store. My neck still has a kink in it but is getting a little bit better every day. I hope you all are doing well. Later...

  3. I usually make a salad of some sort with chicken or sometimes ground beef (taco salad). This time one of the Jennifers is bringing a salad. I made a Watergate salad for dessert. I don't know why the Watergate Hotel called it a salad. Anyway, it's really good. We have a lot planned, but I doubt we will get it all done!

I had a root canal done today and my jaw hurt so much when it was finally done. It was the last tooth on the lower right side and I had to really stretch my mouth open for 90 minutes. When the Doc said I have a small mouth, I almost spit out all the crap he had in my mouth. I had to make a fist and squeeze hard enough for it to hurt so I wouldn't laugh! When he was finished and got everything out I told him my kids and several friends would not agree with him. He said he would defend me if anyone called me a big mouth! LOL The total fee for the root canal was $1675, but I only had to pay $150.75 so my insurance paid 90%.

  4. J/L, LMAO @ you spilling your drink and them your popcorn. Didn't you spill your popcorn when you, Lynn and I went to the show here or was it Lynn? I wasn't interested in seeing that movie because I don't care for Matthew McConaghy (sp?) but I may have to rethink that on your recommendation.

    ReplyDelete
  5. SacBarb, When he told you that your mouth was small, my mind went right in the gutter lol!!
Did you have them put you out? I had one done once. I get all panicky! I have a hard time swallowing (don't go there lol). I panic big time if I can't swallow.

I need to go back to area 51 to read about JLs popcorn lol!

Not much going on here. I cleaned out Jim's side of the garage this morning. I couldn't take it any more! He rarely takes his truck out of the garage. He mostly drives his car. Today he drove the truck to help a friend pick up a piece of furniture for him. He was barely out of the driveway when I headed to the garage. He had cables, wires, rope, rubber hoses, tools, gas cans, old lumber and more all over the place! It's a wonder he never tripped! He keeps his lawn mower, rototiller,
ladders, beer frig, tools galore and not organized,2 hand mowers and large generator on his side. It took me 3 hrs, but I got rid of trash, bottles and organized everything. Now the floor is uncluttered and clean (for a garage lol)
My side is pretty full too. I have mu karaoke machine and speakers set up. My son built me awesome racks to store everything. He also built a big work bench. Jim didn't want that on his side, so I bought peg boards to hang his shit on. Men!

All that work and a long walk out back, got me 11,000 steps today! I have been trying hard to do 10,000. So far I have done 6 days straight! Hurts like MOFO for a bit lol!

Time to check FB again. Have a great 4th Holiday!!
    Waving at Hodi and Dianne~~~
BTW Diane, that was a cute joke. Hadn't seen that one.

  6. Barb I'm afraid my mind went to the gutter, too, regarding your small mouth. LOL

I've never heard of Watergate Salad. I'll have to Google it.

I don't recall which one of us dropped our popcorn. Many years ago a couple of co-workers and I shut down our office and played hooky and went to a matinee. The theater was already dark when we got there and I tripped and fell on the steps leading up to the higher seats. OMG! I got such a bad case of giggles I could hardly get back up. Fortunately, the movie was a comedy because I continued to have a difficult time holding in the giggles for quite some time after I was in a seat. At least I didn't have any drinks or other snacks when I went down.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mary That was nice of you to get Jim's stuff all picked up and organized for him. Well, I guess it was really for you since he didn't mind the mess and you did. LOL

Good job on the steps! Hey, I walked around the grocery store for a while. Does that count?

I hate this time of year. Someone on the street below me periodically sets off some kind of explosion. It really bothers my poor dog.

  8. Awake late with my tooth hurting and listening to my playlist music. Some of the songs are making me kind of sad bringing back memories from long ago. Good memories but memories!

I don't know how long I can stand the tooth pain I even took a pain pill tonight and it hasn't helped. I have a consultation with my dentist a week from Monday to decide what I'm going to do.

Mary, you are in the cleaning mode. I wish I'd get in it. Did Jim even notice your hard work? Men are crazy!!

Boy barb, you have good dental insurance. Mine pays $1000 a year and that is gone fast. I just hate this dental work.

JL, I think you'd better not get snacks at the movie and concentrate on getting to your seat. Maybe go to the movie theater that serves food to you.

Went for Chinese food tonight. The crunchy wontons were hard to eat for me. Tomorrow we are going to Andy's for a bbq and take some lunch to my brother and SIL on Monday. Looks like an eating weekend...not my easiest thing to do right now!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Dianne I feel so sorry for you. A week from Monday is too long to hang out in pain.

Maybe you can make some marijuana brownies to take to your brother's house. It might mellow him out and help with your toothache. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. JL, great idea. Louis will divorce me though!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Dianne LOL Even my police lieutenant husband tried a marijuana brownie.

I had breakfast out of town this morning. When I returned and was driving back into town on the Coast Highway, I was surrounded by 7 Lamborghinis. They were very impressive, I must say, especially traveling in a group like that.

  12. Well, we got through our marathon card making sessions with 19 cards made. They were all using the same papers, but different a design for each card. Some of them were birthday, some were Thinking of you type, some Get Well and some we left with sentiment to be determined later. We laughed a lot and had a great time while we worked.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dianne, I am so sorry you are having such a difficult time with your dental issues. I would insist on an appointment sooner than a week from Monday!

  14. J/L, Impressive cars but I bet you were thinking how much better gas mileage you get than they do! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mary, Where do you get all your energy? I need to know your secret! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Barb That's so great that you have friends to do that stuff with. Laughter is the best medicine for so many things.

I just returned from my neighbor's house across the street. They are a very nice young couple with a 1 1/2 year old. Anyway, they invited me over for a Bloody Mary. Jason made me a very good one. Now I just want to lay down and take a nap. LOL

I wish people would stop setting off explosives. :(

  17. It was so sad to read about all the traumatized animals because of fireworks being set off in neighborhoods. I am very grateful that my neighborhood was pretty quiet on July 4th. I heard a few that were not really close, maybe blocks away, and the kitties were just fine all night.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Barb The explosions on the 4th were ridiculous here. Pacifica is one of the few cities in this county that allows legal fireworks but it's all the illegal ones that get set off, too, that are a major problem. My poor dog was miserable all day as a lot of explosions were happening on the street below me. The last random explosion was at about 11:30 and I was finally able to coax my dog outside to do her thing at about midnight. My dog turned 7 on 7/3.

My blood pressure medication was adjusted a few weeks ago so yesterday I went in to have my blood pressure checked (it's good), got an update on my pneumonia vaccine, and had blood drawn. By the time I was having dinner with my friends, I was feeling a little yucky. It may have been from the vaccine. I feel fine now.

  19. Had lunch today with Alberta who graduated a year behind me at Santa Maria High School. I only went there for my senior year when my parents moved there to open the first pizza restaurant in Santa Maria. She was actually in my sister-in-law's class and she lives in Sac now. We went to the Cheesecake factory and had hamburgers. Neither of us was going to get dessert, but we are weak and she had Key Lime Cheesecake and I had Salted Carmel Cheesecake. Holy Mother of Pearl, it was heavenly. I only ate a couple of bites and I have the rest in the fridge to snack on tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  20. SacBarb, I am drooling over your salted caramel cheesecake!!!

JL, Zoie, sure is enjoying the peaceful nights! The 4th was her worst night! I put her on my office chair behind my behind lol! I turned up the tv because she was shaking so bad! I find if I place my hand firmly on her tummy, she relaxes faster.

It sure has been a sad few days! My brother's beautiful 3 yr old great, great Grandson was diagnosed with lymphoblastic Leukemia. As you can imagine the whole family is a mess! Cancer sucks!

Today was Jim's Birthday. He is 72. Until my Birthday in Dec., I am 4 yrs younger lol!!

We are having a terrible time with the Ins.Co involved in our damaged room. They not only want us to sign a document absolving them from any further liabilities , which I have no problem doing, but they also sent us a "W9" tax form to fill out stating we have to claim ,ins. money as income! We only file short form as we have no debts or deductions!
    What a mess!

Have a great week end gals!!

  21. Hi...well, I'm going in to see the dental surgeon and my dentist for a consultation tomorrow. I'm taking Tammy and Louis. I'm in quandary what to do right now. My face started swelling yesterday and the pain was bad. She put me on antibiotics and the pain is gone and so is the swelling almost.

Tonight we went with Tammy and James to a Darius Rucker concert. It was a perfect night out and a good show. It was country but ours is adjusting. He's not too crazy about concerts but it was a good venue and we got perfect handicap parking. Our seats were good too.

Had a nice weekend except Kayla came to her dads bbq for about 45 min and brought Jake-ass we all pretty u h ignored him as he just called Tammy a fxx bitch the day before!! She was told not to bring him. They ate in the kitchen and left.

    More news to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jake-ass got arrested yesterday for not reporting to parole officer since May. He was also in a pushing match with Kayla and neighbor called. It was then discovered there was a warrant for him. He spent the night in Jail but judge reduced bail to 0 today and let him out tonight. Tammy and family went to court..jakes did not show up. Judge said next time it will be 18 mos. damn, why couldn't it be this time? Police asked Kayla if she'd ever been in jail and said she'd end up there if she kept hanging out with him. That will probably be the next thing. Sometimes I'm even more concerned for Tammys health thru all this than the extra worry of Kayla. I feel something bad is going to happen and pray it doesn't.

Glad the fireworks have about stopped for your dogs. Poor things. Mary, your just a baby!! Four months from tomorrow I'll be 70!!

Barb, your cheesecake sounds wonderful. I'm smacking my lips right now. You were good you passed up the mashed potatoes.

JL, yea for you on your blood pressure. I go tomorrow before the dentist to the dr for three month diabetic check up.

    Well, that's about it. Night

  23. So sad about the shootings in Dallas. It makes me so scared for my son. Prayers to the families

    ReplyDelete
  24. Barb OMG, that salted caramel cheesecake sounds sinfully yummy. It's probably fortunate for me that there is no Cheesecake Factory really close by. I plan on staying on the WW diet for the long haul. So far I have been able to be successful without much trouble. I've been on it for 6 1/2 weeks and have lost 12 1/2 lbs. I'm not taking it off as fast as Lynn did but that's okay. I'm happy with my results. If I could walk farther without so much pain, I would probably be doing a little better at the weight loss.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mary I am so thankful that the 4th is over with. Smaller dogs like yours might benefit from one of those "calming wraps" they've come out with for dogs. I guess it makes them feel like they're being hugged.

I don't understand about the W9 since you are being reimbursed for your loss. It's not like you're coming out ahead. The only way that would make sense is if you were claiming the value of the loss on your taxes, also. You can probably Google it.

I am so very sorry to hear about your brothers great, great grandson. That is heartbreaking. I will keep him in my prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dianne The saga of Jake-ass just gets worse and worse, doesn't it? I think it's time somebody gets in Kayla's face about this and not in a good way. He is going to drag her down to his level.

I'm glad you were all able to get out to the concert. I hope Tammy was able to enjoy herself and forget the drama and worry for a while. My daughter is coming down tomorrow and we are going to go into San Francisco for lunch and then going to a matinee production of Cabaret. I'm looking forward to it. It will be fun to spend time with Elizabeth and I always enjoy live theater. Well, there are two exceptions to that. I saw Bebe Neuwirth in a horrible play called "Here Lies Jenny" which must have been written by a depressed German. And I saw a crappy play called "Urine Town". I guess I should have been warned by the title but it had gotten good reviews.

I will keep your son in my prayers. I hope everything calms down now.

  27. Waving a wing from Wisconsin!!

DIANNE - Cute blog! Kinda reminds me of all those "church ladies" out there, especially my brother's wife. I'm so sorry you're still in so much pain. I hope they have a solution for you!!! Praying for your son and all police officers. This world is just too scary right now. Too bad they didn't put Jake-ass in jail this time!!! Sending love and strength that Kayla finally wakes up.

    ReplyDelete
  28. SLIN - Congrats on your weight loss!! Slowly but surely will win that race. I've had a bad week. Even with the weather, I just can't get motivated to get out and walk. Work hasn't helped. I'm kind of in a funk....:( Just biding my time until next year when the new store opens. Praying I still have the opportunity to work with Alex again!! For now, I need to play nice and keep my mouth shut.

    ReplyDelete
  29. MARY - Did you have those crazy thunderstorms like we had this week? The heat and humidity is letting up for this weekend, though. Should be beautiful....sunny and in the upper 70's and low 80's!

    ReplyDelete
  30. BARB - I wasn't overly impressed with The Cheesecake Factory. I feel their food is over priced, and for marginal, at best, quality. But I bet that Salted Caramel Cheesecake was to die for! I had mouth o's just thinking about it!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm looking forward to Sunday. It's the Madison Scouts home show! My nephew is coming down from St. Paul for it. Their show is based on the music of Jesus Christ Superstar. I posted a clip from the show they had at the Rose Bowl last week. Amazing!!! I can't wait to see them live.

Have a great day HOoters. Time to hoist n' rinse!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jodi, The Cheesecake Factory is about average in price compared to other eateries here in Sac, and the food is average, too, except for the cheesecake. I usually like my cheesecake unadulterated (plain) but I took a chance on the salted caramel and it truly was to die for!!! I took more than half of it home and was able to enjoy it for another day. Their portions are very generous, but they should be for the $7.95 cost! I hope you don't get blisters on your tongue from biting it keeping your mouth shut. I hope the new store opening is scheduled for early next year!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dianne, I hope you can get some relief from your pain and also from the stress. I had a root canal last week and I am still taking amoxicillin for the abscess. It is feeling better now. I also need to have a crown replaced because I have worn through it. It is the first crown I got and is over 40 years old.

I wish there was an easy answer to the Kayla situation, but I am still keeping her in my prayers. The way Jake-ass is going, he will certainly screw up with the law again and hopefully get put away for a long time. The bad thing about that is, Kayla may feel even more sorry for him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. J/L, I have heard of Urine Town, but have never seen it and I don't think I know anyone, other than you, that has seen it. LOL @ the title should have been a warning! I really need to get on the ball and be disciplined about eating healthy and I definitely need to stay away from the Cheesecake Factory! Congrats on your weight loss. Like you, I cannot walk without some pain, mostly in my hip. Plus, I am starting to have some lower back pain again! Ugh! Today marks one year since my back surgery and I am hoping this pain is not an indication that I will need more!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mary, Happy Birthday to Jim. So sorry to hear about your brother's great, great grandson. I will keep him and the family in my prayers.

    ReplyDelete
  36. BARB - Unfortunately I don't think it will open to closer to fall of 2017. I'm sure that will be A LOT of blisters ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Barb Well, my daughter and I went to see Cabaret in SF on Saturday afternoon. It was great! One unusual thing that happened as we walked from the parking lot to the theater was that I spotted a woman wearing just a bra squatting in front of a parked car and peeing in the gutter. On the bright side, she did have a small roll of toilet paper. LOL I don't know where the rest of her clothes were but probably on the curb. I only glanced at her quickly. There are a number of homeless people sleeping on the street in that area. Before going to the theater, we had brunch at a restaurant in the Ferry Building. It was really nice weather to be out and about in San Francisco. In spite of the brunch and the Bloody Mary that I had, I was still down another 3/4 lb the next morning. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  38. HOdi I'm sorry you've been in a funk. Just keep on keeping on, one day at a time, as they say. Alex would be blessed to have you and he knows it. Hopefully, the powers that be will have no objections to your transfer.

    ReplyDelete
  39. J/L, Well that was interesting. The woman carried her own toilet paper, too. There were a lot of homeless people in the downtown neighborhood where I worked and as co-worker and I were leaving the building one night we happened upon a man peeing against the outside wall of the building, right next to the door we were exiting. I almost yelled at him, but I was afraid he would turn to look at us and pee on us. So we just quickly walked past him and went to our car. Luckily he didn't follow us! It's an experience you won't forget!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hi....looks like things are pretty quiet in here. How's everyone doing?

JL, glad u enjoyed your day with your daughter. Our theater area is around the homeless too except that it's been blocked off. We go the end of the month to see a Carol King show. You're really doing well with WW. I'm plugging along fairly well too right now anyway. I had a 3.3 loss today.

Barb, how is your back feeling? I sure hope you don't have to have any more surgery.

Mary, see you went to a concert tonight on FB. Who all were performing? I love concerts when the weather is nice.

Jodi, hang in there. You do such a great job at your work. Any store is lucky to have you work for them.

Well, today I went for a 3-D X-ray for my dental procedure. After two consultations and Louis and Tammy being involved...I've decided to go with having the rest of the top teeth taken out. It will be less expensive in the long run and I have a couple of loose teeth holding my other bridge in and my front tooth is loose from a fall a few years ago. I'm scared to death. They will put in a couple of implants and then a full dental plate that is screwed into the implants. It's not removeable except by the dentist once a year. I am good with that part. Now don't faint.....this is going to cost $30,000!!!! They are crediting the $6600 I've already paid. There is no date set yet. If the pain doesn't come back then I'd like to wait until the end of August.

Looks like Louis is going to workman extra year instead of retiring in May. I feel so bad for him but with my dental, his couple of implants, cataracts, air conditioning .snd I'm now in the "donut hole" for Medicare....too much. He's a good sport about it but still.....

Well, that's about it from this end of the country.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dianne I'm glad you had Louis and Tammy with you to go over your options. Except for the removal of teeth, your experience will be different from mine as I do not have implants. I also didn't have the bill that you will have, not even close. I hope you can just focus on how nice it will be to have it all over and done with. Just think; no more pain and no more broken bridges. You will be much happier in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Barb I'm glad that guy didn't turn and pee on you! OMG!

I forgot to tell you.... When my daughter and I saw Cabaret, she hadn't known what the story was and incorrectly had a picture in her mind of Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago. The final scene had a big emotional impact and my daughter mumbled under her breath, "Well, that wasn't a 'feel good' ending". LOL

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dianne, WOW! That is some dental bill. I hope insurance will pay a major portion of that! Sorry Louis will have to work another year. I hope he likes his job.

    ReplyDelete
  44. J/L, LOL Definitely not a 'feel good' ending in Cabaret. Other than that, did she like the show?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Facebook reminded me today that it has been a year since I scared the crap out of Chad when I dropped the TV remote and got out of bed to try to get it. I cracked up at his commentary and all your comments. It really seems like it has been much longer than a year.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Barb, my dental ins wil pay $1000...big deal!! JL...I'm focused on the pulling of the teeth right now. Not good

Barb, it does seem like a long time since your surgery. Hope you're feeling better. Yes, Louis does like his teaching job but he was looking forward to only one more year not two. His boss was pleased to have him for another year. At least all his teaching is online.

I like the music from Cabaret. Did you sing along?

Went to early dinner with my cousin tonight and she treated. Not much else new around here.

    Hi jodi and Mary

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dianne I always found the pulling of teeth to be easier and less traumatic than root canals. It is certainly quicker. I have a friend whose husband had the same thing done as you are and he is happy as a clam with it.

I didn't sing along but the music kept going through my head afterward and still is sometimes.

What does Louis teach? I periodically think I should take some kind of classes, especially art, but then I never sign up to actually do it.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Barb Yes, Elizabeth did enjoy the show. It was a really excellent production.

I'll be going down to So Cal on Sept. 17 and returning Sept. 25. It's my usual annual trip to visit with my brother as his birthday is Sept. 22. I will probably melt while I am there. It looks like I will be going down there again sometime in November as that is when my brother is thinking he will have surgery on both knees. Yikes! In mid October, Elizabeth and I have our week long coastal cruise starting with a couple of days in Vancouver, BC, before we get on the ship. I hope these trips don't totally foul up my weight loss. Tuesday was my 7 week mark for being on WW online and I've now lost 14 1/4 lbs.

    ReplyDelete
  49. J/L, Congratz on your 7 week weight loss. I think it is so hard to stay on a program when traveling, at least for me! It would be worse if I was on a cruise and all the fabulous food would be so tempting. I guess I am just weak!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Dianne, I am so sorry you have to go through all that dental work and especially have to pay so much. Kathy told me about something they have in AZ and we have in CA, too, called Care Credit, where they will set up payments and I think the interest is low. That may help so you don't have to pay it all at once.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Barb Yes, if you qualify for CareCredit it can be helpful. However, if you mess up on making your payments, the interest rate skyrockets and is applied retroactively back to the beginning of the loan.

The good thing about cruises is that you end up walking a lot which helps balance out the extra calories you may ingest. I'm not thinking of what I am doing as being on a diet but rather as changing the normal way I eat. I really need to take my health more seriously and losing these extra pounds will certainly benefit me in that way. According to my recent lab work, I am still pre-diabetic and my kidney dysfunction is stable. That's been true for years and now I am hoping both will be better if I was at a healthy weight.

    ReplyDelete
  52. We qualify but the monthly payments are very high for care credit.. I think I'll just do a line of credit on the house. I wish MEDICARE would help out but that's a joke.

Jodi, what are you doing on your trip and how long are you gone?

JL, you are doing great on your weight. We just had a big talk at WW this week that its NOT a diet but a change of lifestyle. JL, Louis is a professor at Colorado Mountain College and teachers computer support.

Barb, are you still thinking about a cruise?

    Mary, what are doing?

Went to see ghostbusters today. I didn't know if I'd like it but I did a lot. It's funny with Melissa McCarthy. Barb and I went to Texas Roadhouse for early dinner

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dianne I really blew a lot of points today. I splurged on a cheeseburger and fries for lunch (at least I didn't eat all the fries) and I had some popcorn tonight (too much, really). On the plus side; for dinner I had 2 1/2 bowls of homemade vegetable soup which was only one point. Tomorrow I will be good again.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jl....sometimes you just need a day. We usually say it's weigh in day. You are following program better than I do. Obviously, I'm hit and miss. You're really doing good. I told my leader about my upcoming dental issues and thought I might lose weight. She said sometimes people gain because of eating milkshakes. That's not encouraging.

We went to a bday dinner for my nephew at his moms. His bday is tomorrow. I'm going to one at his dad's on Wednesday. I'm lucking out on his bday.!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Dianne I didn't have a single milkshake when I went through my dental stuff. I do recall mashed potatoes and gravy, though, and broth, chocolate pudding. I think I only ate super soft stuff for a day or two. I love a bowl of really buttery noodles with lots of pepper and salt. But whatever you do, don't worry about your weight. Just treat yourself right; be kind and nurturing to yourself. You will have plenty of time to get back on the wagon as far as diet goes.

Don't worry. I have one (sometimes two) days where I indulge myself a bit. So far, it hasn't hurt me to do that. Like the other day when I was really having a craving for a nice, juicy hamburger. Sometimes you've just got to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ok...ill have Louis on call for KFC mashed potatoes and gravy. I go to the dentist tomorrow but I don't really know why. I think to check my other stitches, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I spent most of yesterday afternoon sitting in a chair with a heating pad on my lower back. I don't know what I did to it but I woke up that way. I think I just slept in some kind of weird twisty way. I thought it would work itself out but it never did so I finally got out the heating pad. It's better today but not completely. :(

  58. Hello HOoters. I am doing pretty much nothing today. I flattened a bunch of empty boxes so I could put them in the recycle bin for pick up tomorrow and that's about it. Oh, and I made my bed! It's always a chore to make the bed because the cats thing it's an invitation to play. Mellie especially likes to get completely under the covers and just stay there. Today I left her there and continued to put the rest of the covers on the bed and there was a lump right in the middle. It was kinda funny. She finally slid out of the bed because I didn't tuck the covers so she could get out.

  59. Dianne, I agree with J/L. Don't worry about your WW program. Just take care of YOU! When is the big day that all of this will take place? I will be keeping you in my prayers that all goes well with no complications. I am still praying that Kayla dumps Jake-ass and meets someone who will treat her well!

  60. Waving a floppy wing to Jodi and Mary. I hope you both are doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Barb, thanks so much for all my family prayers. I'm occupying a lot, aren't I? She's still with the ass and nothing has changed. I still there's more going on than meets the eye with this whole thing and it doesn't feel good.

I don't have a miserable dental date yet. She has to look at X-ray that I had done last week. I had an appt today but they canceled it because I don't really know what it was for at this point. Guess I'll just take a day at a time. Thank you again ...I appreciate it a lot.

Tammy and I were meeting for lunch today but she was sick so Louis was my back up. We went up in the mountains about an hour away for lunch. It was a nice drive and decent hamburger (I didn't eat the bread).

I had a couple of friends having surgery today so I've been checking in on them over the phone and texts.

Thought about watching some of the convention tonight but I'll just pick it up on the news.

JL, are you feeling better? Hope so. Better quit doing those fancy bends in bed :)

    Mary and Jodi.....missing you both.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dianne My back is still screwed up a bit. In fact, it made me get up at about 6:30 this morning because it was too uncomfortable to keep lying down. Now you know I don't get up early like that unless there is no other choice.

I usually have dinner out with John and Jane on Tuesday nights but they needed to change it to tomorrow. There is nothing more for me to report for the day. I did go gross-ry shopping but, otherwise, I'm taking it easy with this stupid back of mine acting up the way it is.

It sounds like you and Louis had a very nice drive and lunch. I miss having someone to do that kind of stuff with. My second husband would have been 86 today. Oddly enough, my first husband would have had a birthday today, too.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Barb Kitties love helping to make the bed. LOL I used to have a deaf cat that loved to get into the linen closet and sleep on the sheets or towels. He would open the door himself so we finally had to put little slide locks on the closet door. He was an odd cat. He was black and had very coarse and curly hair, even his whiskers were curly. Hence, his name was Curly.

  64. I'm here JL! I lost my way to the nest lol. I have to back track and read the posts.
Just so much going on lately! Mostly trying to hold these men up lol!
They sure have been needy lately! Just when I thought things were going smoothly, bang one more thing comes up!
My son Matthew has been so happy working at G.M., training for the truck job (hi-lo). They noticed his neck looked a little stiff so they made him see a Dr. to prove he wasn't disabled. He got the n ote from the Dr., but they still weren't convinced! They told him not to come back until he can convince them he can turn his head better!
He was crushed! He is seeing a Chiro and getting some results so he is hopeful! I just hope they don't let him go permanently!
Jim, hit a deer the other night, or as HE puts it, the deer hit HIM LOL!
Almost $7,000 in damages! Good thing he has a truck to get by with!
My son Tony's wife, is throwing him a surprise 50th Birthday party this week end and wants us to do the music.
Last week end we had a wedding.
This is county fair week here. We went to it tonight and had our fave. junk food :)
In between all this I am still trying to get the dam ins. to pay for the damage to our house without making us claim it on our income tax! Oye vey!

I hope you are all doing fine. I did notice JL, was having back trouble.
JL, back aches are the worst! I have trouble with my lower back. The only thing that helps is Motrin and laying flat on my back! I hope you get some relief!

Dianne, I hope your mouth is on the mend! Are you still needing to get more work done?

    Later......

    ReplyDelete
  65. Mary I'm sorry about Jim's car and the deer. Yikes! It would be both scary and upsetting to hit a deer.

I hope your son's neck stiffness gets better and it doesn't impact his employment. I'm very surprised that the note from the doctor wasn't good enough for them. What's with that?

I was feeling pretty good yesterday and took the dog for a walk on the levee/sea wall down by the pier. There were a number of times I saw a whale breach. I tried to get a photo but that didn't work out. On the bright side, my hip didn't hurt nearly as much as it usually does when I go for a walk. Today I woke up with my back hurting again. Crap! It's always something.

    ReplyDelete
  66. JL, Dam back anyway!! At least you got a nice walk. How I envy your whale watching and ocean so close by! Does "breach" mean 'coming to the surface? If I wasn't so lazy I would google it lol!!

My DIL who lives in Montana, works for the county animal control. She has had many nasty encounters with different animals. This week she was handling a feral cat and got some nasty scratches on her arms and needed antibiotics. Over night she had a bad reaction to the meds and wound up in the hospital. Hopefully they can keep the infection in check, as it seems to be traveling up her arm!
She has a huge heart for animals especially dogs. I think she has at least 8! She fosters them and has a hard time giving them up. One she particularly didn't want to let go, had to have a set of wheels for back legs. They also have chickens, horses, cats, rabbits and who knows what else lol! She takes good care of them. We have been there at feeding time. Each has their own bowl and only eat on command never bothering the others food. She walks then into the mountains everyday. I have all I can handle with Zoie lol!!

We are waiting for our ins. adjuster for Jim's car. I guess anything over $3,000 has to be verified.

It has been terrible hot here, reaching 100 and more to come! I love air-conditioning lol!!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh Lort! The day just got worse! Our friend who never goes home just called from nearby saying he is stopping by! He never just "stops by!" He will be here until midnight! It is over 90 deg outside and had planned on fast food for dinner! I hate being a bad host to Jim's high school friend, but crap!!
Spaghetti and meatballs it is lol!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Mary Oh, your spaghetti and meatballs sounds so good! I've been craving pasta lately. Your husband's friend should at least bring a nice wine.

    ReplyDelete
  69. JL, that's what bugs me the most! He never brings a thing! He drinks all of Jim's beer and our table wine. I feed him and he brings nothing! Jim walked him outside to show him the damage to his car. Prolly a ruse to hurry him on his way lol! Never works! He cannot take a hint!
Oh well, Jim's high school friends are thinning out so I should be glad he "stops by" LOL!!! 4 HRS AND COUNTING!

I just saved me a mani, and did my own nails. I just kept forgetting to get them done and tomorrow is My son Tony's birthday party. His birthday isn't until Aug. 2nd, but she wanted to be sure it was a surprise lol!

Have a great week end all!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mary Is Jim as annoyed with his friend as you are?

    ReplyDelete
  71. JL, LOL, I'm not ever really sure! I know he enjoys his visits, for old time sake, but he does not enjoy the loooog stays.
Jim didn't let him come back in and they sat outside to talk. Jim then told him they should take a walk out back to the far field. I think Jim pooped him (Max) out enough for him to leave by 10 pm lol! Of course there was the heat factor too. Max must have been wringing wet!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Mary LOL Well, that was good thinking on Jim's part. I was going to suggest he come up with an exit line such as, "Well, Max, it's been a long day. I'm going to turn in early so I'm afraid it's time to say good night. Thanks for stopping by". Apparently you need to be very direct with Max.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Howdy...What's everyone doing? Quiet in here this weekend.

Mary...so your boyfriend was there for a visit? I would have ordered the pizza and NOT cooked for an unannounced person. You are just so sweet. I guess thats why I've had more husbands than you!! I'm mean!! How was the party? It looked liked fun. Your sons look very nice and they are sure taller than you!!!

JL, how are you feeling? What did you do all weekend? How was your dinner with your friends? I'd love to go outside and watch whales. Fun.

Barb, what are you up to? Tried to find a movie this weekend but nothing much playing out there that I'm interested in. Louis is going to go and see Star Trek with Andy. Not my cup of tea. Went to see Beautiful..carol king the musical. It was a great show! The music gave some many memories I had no idea she and her husband wrote so many songs for other people. It as very crowded with an older crowd...my age. I really enjoyed it.

I bought a groupon the other night to go up in the mountains for a couple of days next month. I hope the place is nice. It looks good and reviews are good. We are going to meet my Texas cousins half way over Labor Day weekend. They want us to go down there but Louis starts school in a couple of weeks and we can't really go away for another week right now. I'm going to try and put off my dental issues to right after Lanor Day. Hope the pain stays away.

    Sure do miss you Jodi.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Dianne, I hope you are able to carry out your plan to put off the dental issues. That will give you a break. How are things going with Kayla? I pray she meets someone who is really nice and makes her forget all about Jake-ass!

    ReplyDelete
  75. J/L, Tonight the men tell all! Frankly, I'm not too anxious to hear it all, especially from Chad! I want to get to t! he good stuff like who is she going to pick!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Mary, I agree with Dianne. I would have ordered pizza and let it go! Max probably doesn't care what you feed him, anyway! You are too accommodating and generous. ;)

  77. Today is the one year anniversary of my cats adoption. I had an appointment to take both cats to the vet today for their shots and check-up, but I was going through the papers we got when they were adopted, and Tara actually got her rabies shot a few weeks after we got her, so I changed the appointment to take Mellie only. It is so much easier to take one at a time. Mellie got two shots today, rabies and distemper, and they are good for three years. Tara will get her shots in August.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Barb, Kayla is doing terrible. I personally think she's using some drugs with this ass. She's so erratic all the time. They had to call police to get her home today. It's a huge mess. Thanks for continuing prayers. Xxoo. I think the dental will be put off awhile as dentist emailed me today and said surgeon would be there sept 15 and she hoped to get me on schedule. If not I'm postponing longer.

We just set up a Thanksgiving trip back to Branson for Christmas shows. We were very lucky and got the timeshare for the whole holiday week. I've already ordered our show tickets....that's one less holiday I have to deal with around here!!! I'm excited. We r going to drive and hope for no blizzards. The last time it was tornados.

Can't believe it's already a year since you've had you kitties. Time flies!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Barb I'm looking forward to seeing the guys on Bachelorette meet Jojo's family, especially her brothers. They don't get won over easily.

Have you thought any more about maybe taking a river cruise? I just got reminded today that final payment is due Aug. 5 for my cruise down the coast from Vancouver. My daughter and I have to decide what excursions we want to sign up for at the ports, even the San Francisco one. I've never been to Alcatraz but she has. We have time to figure it out as the cruise isn't until mid October. We are staying a couple of days in Vancouver before the cruise starts and we do have an idea of a few things we want to do while we are there.

  80. Dianne I'm so sorry that the drama continues with Kayla. I know it really sucks. Someday she will be a grown woman and all this crap will be behind her. We all make mistakes growing up and hopefully this one of hers will not have lasting consequences.

Your plan for Thanksgiving week sounds perfect for you. I bet you and Louis have a lot of fun and it will be stress free. Well, unless you have a blizzard. I hope your teeth issues are well behind you by then so you don't have to worry at all about any of that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'm so worried that this is going to turn out really bad. I think Kayla is hanging out in a drug house with him. She had him take her to a job interview today and he didn't want her to go in so he was choking her and then she hits back. She went on interview in tears with a hand mark on her neck and trying to get him not to break up with her. Sorry to go on and on...

I hope these teeth things get done soon too. Get tired of thinking about it and having these missing teeth on the other side

Had lunch with Tammy and dinner with Emilee. Stressful day. NIGHT

    ReplyDelete
  82. Dianne OMG! How old is Kayla? Can't anything be done to keep her away from him? Forcefully, if necessary. Can she be sent to live with her dad? She needs counseling to figure out why she doesn't think she has the right to be treated better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  83. JL.Kayla is in weekly counseling since this mess started. Leaving with her dad won't work...not far enough away. She will be 18 in October. Yesterday's fight was caught on tape so Andy was able to see it. He called the police and they are taking a statement from Kayla and Jake on what happened. They will then review the tape. Whoever started it could be arrested or both could be arrested. I so hope Kayla didn't start it by pushing him or something. Haven't heard any update tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Dianne The counselor will only be aware of what Kayla divulges unless the rest of the family also has sessions and will spill the beans about this latest episode. It seems to be escalating which is the way these things work, unfortunately. I'm glad the police are involved and that this latest incident will be on record. Even if she did start it, maybe it will be a blessing in disguise and a wake up call for her. I've looked at his FB page and I sure don't see what the attraction is. He seems to like his tongue a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  85. He's a creep. I see no attraction about him either. Tammy and Andy go to the counselor now too and Tammy is daily contact with giving her updates. At this point, the film doesnt show enough. Andy said the policeman spent two hours just talking to Kayla. Btw, she got the job but Jake doesn't want her to take it.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Dianne Of course Jake-ass doesn't want her to take the job. She might actually do stuff that he's not part of. He might lose control of her for a few hours. She might even meet someone else. One could hope. I don't even know the kid and I hate him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Dianne,I agree with J/L, I hate him too! I hope this last incident will be a turning point to wake Kayla up. How was the fight caught on tape? Was someone else in the car with them?

    ReplyDelete
  88. I have had a week of eating and it's not doing my diet any good. On Wednesday I had lunch with a former co-worker whom I haven't seen in about 3-4 years and that night I had dinner with the Jennifers. Then yesterday I had lunch with another former employee from when I filled in while the Gambling Control Commission was recruiting for a permanent employee. That job was after I retired, and I was only supposed to work for a month, but it lasted four months. There was good news and bad news about that job - the good news was I made a boat load of money, the bad news was I had to work about 9-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and supervise about 15 people. I was on vacation with my Uncle Mike in Hawaii when my former boss called me and asked if I would fill in. He was the new Director of the agency and they needed someone to supervise the annual budget process which had tight deadlines. I thought it would be a snap! Ha! NOT!!!!! Every day, I said to myself, "what the hell was I thinking?" It was nice to have all that money when it was all over, though! BTW, my former boss is now a Superior Court Judge. It's nice to know a judge, in case I ever get in big trouble! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  89. Hi....well Kayla didn't take the job. She was planning on it up to the night before but didn't..says she wants to work at Walmart. Thursday night she called me in tears and wanted to meet for dinner. Jake was breaking up with her again. Went to Applebee's and she didn't show up. I was pissed and she knows it. He wanted to talk and she HAD to get things straightened out. It didn't surprise me but hurt my feelings, made me mad.

Boy Barb, you've had a fun week in my book. Aren't you glad you aren't working anymore? Me too!! I listen to my mortgage working friends and it does not tempt me in the least. Did you do more card ideas during your dinner?

The way the place had it on tape was their outside cameras at Kayla's job interview.

There is a big country music show on tv Wednesday night if anyone is interested.

JL, any plans for the weekend? We will probably take dinner to my brothers Saturday night. I have a couple of lunches planned and that's it.

I called my MEDICARE supplement twice today and finally found an eye dr. He is Louis's but on my list. I have to change this year since mine was fired for that sexual misconduct after 15 years with him. My eyes are really blurry and teary.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Oh barb, is that Carol king show on your list?

    ReplyDelete
  90. Barb It's nice to know people in high places. Gee, we could get in trouble together and maybe we wouldn't even need to use the nest's bail fund. LOL

I wouldn't mind a short term job where I could make a butt load of money, preferably by just staying home. Know any jobs like that? LOL

I had dinners out two nights in a row and that didn't help me any, either. Tuesday was my usual weekly dinner with John and Jane. That wasn't too bad as I had filet of sole but then we went to the movies to see "The Infiltrator" (very good and I learned a lot) and so I had to have my customary Coke and buttered popcorn. The following night I had my monthly dinner date with another friend and I had something similar to chicken parmesan, followed by a thin slice of flour-less chocolate cake her husband makes (OMG, it's so rich it's like a slice of fudge) with whipped cream on it. Anyway, the following day I was up a pound. I've now lost that and hope to have a little more lost by the time I log in my weekly weight on Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Dianne I am getting so aggravated with what Kayla is doing. It is probably a good thing that I am not around her as I would start being sarcastic at this point and saying things like, "Are you going to meet your abuser today? Well, then you better take some extra makeup so you can try and cover the bruises". I'm serious. She's letting that treatment become "normal" and somebody needs to call her out on it even if it embarrasses her. Maybe especially if it embarrasses her.

I have a boring life so there are no plans for the weekend. I did put on some knee length shorts as it is a nice, sunny day so I am thinking of sitting out on the deck and maybe getting a little sun on my lily white legs. In September I will be going down to southern California to visit my brother during his birthday week and it will be hot as Hades there. I will be wearing things there that I wouldn't normally wear around here. Amazing what one is willing to do if it's hot enough. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  92. I was sitting outside reading my Kindle when a bird landed on my head. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  93. J/L, Is your brother going to have his knee surgery in Sept, while you are there?

LOL @ using my judge friend instead of the bail fund from the nest! Seriously hope it never comes to that!

Watching Jeopardy and one of the contestants is an attorney from Sacramento. I don't know him, but I'll root for him.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Dianne, The Carol King show is not on our schedule this season. I was hoping it would be, but no luck. We will be seeing Kinky Boots, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, The Bodyguard, and Phantom of the Opera. White Christmas was the optional show and we opted out, so we won't be seeing that one. What shows are on your schedule?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Hi...too bad on the show, Barb. It was really good. We didn't renew this year. We decided to take a break as so many shows were becoming repeats. We've been going for years.

Listen you two...I think our bail fund is low from the last time you guys were out. We might need a fund raiser.

JL, I am kind of sarcastic to Kayla. She's just out of control and what I'm trying to learn and deal with is that it's out of my control. That's hard but getting better otherwise I drive myself crazy.

Sure do miss Jodi snd Mary.

Did I tell you all, that we are driving back to Branson for Thanksgiving avhristmas shows? We have a time share that I got the whole six days for no cost at the Lawrence Welk Resort . I have already ordered the tickets for all the shows. We are going to the Andy Williams Christmas Extravagaganda theater with the Osmonds and the Lennon Sisters. Many yeas I got to see it with Andy Williams. I will be glad to be gone for at least one holiday. Sad, huh?

Tomorrow I go to my dermo for a check on a spot where I had melanoma. I makes me nervous.

That's about my news. What's up with you?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dianne, It will be good for you to be gone for Thanksgiving so you won't have to be stressed. Christmas will be hard enough if things don't change with Kayla. It's so sad because she has so much potential. Hopefully, things will change for the better.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Dianne You did tell us about your Thanksgiving week trip and I bet it can't come soon enough. You need the break from the Kayla drama. You are right that it is out of control which is very hard to accept. The Lennon sisters are still around. OMG! I remember having Lennon Sisters paper dolls when I was a kid.

Yesterday I sat out in the sun for a short time....30 to 45 minutes....and I got sunburned so I didn't do that again today. LOL I did do some organizing in a closet and threw out 24 rolls of wrapping paper. I still have 15 rolls. Ridiculous, isn't it? I have large bags of bows and ribbons that I need to sort through and downsize.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Barb I think you stepped on me. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  99. J/L, I'm so sorry I stepped on you. I hope I didn't flatten anything! I meant to tell Dianne that I went to school with Peggy Lennon and some of her sisters. We weren't really friends but we were at the same parties and other events sometimes. It was high school when they were on the Lawrence Welk show. They were all very nice girls. I wasn't aware that they were still performing as I haven't kept up with their careers.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I think we need to send out a search party for Mary and Jodi! They may be having too much fun without us and we need to be invited!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Helloooooo, here I am!
It has been a stressful week end and especially stressful Monday!
I have been trying to keep my son's spirits up. His G.M. job has been in jeopardy.
They noticed Matthew's neck was not turning to the right as much as THEY thought it should for the particular job he has been training for. Last Monday they sent him home and told him not to return until he is better! Unbeknownst to him, the Dr he saw wrote a bunch of restrictions which were untrue! Most peeps are trying to get out of work! He has been fighting like hell to stay in! He has seen Chiros. and Drs. He went back today with a clear report from his Dr and the shop Dr, but his trainer thinks he still has a problem turning his head, which he does to an extent, but does not interfere with his job. The trainer tried to get the shop Dr to watch him on the job, probably to disqualify him. The Dr refused since he had already cleared him! His trainer is just being a jerk!
Once Matt punches in tomorrow, he will have gotten his "time" in so he will have more leverage. I have been working with him trying to stretch his back and neck muscles. He's a big guy and thick skinned lol. I have been getting a work out!
Hopefully we will both sleep better tonight. Stress can be a bitch!

Dianne, you are right, the Kayla drama is nothing you have control over. She is already being controlled! Unfortunately she has to "see the light" on her own. Just be there for her. She needs to know she can come to you. I have been where she is. Nothing gets through those rose colored glasses! Gals, have way too many raging hormones at that age!

SacBarb, how cool to have been in the same school as the Lennon sisters! I loved their harmony!

JL, Take care of those "pearly white" legs! LOL! My tan is mostly on my front. I am not good at laying on my tummy to tan "the other side!"

I see I wrote a few chapters to a book lol!
    Catch yah all later!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Mary, we missed you...a lot. So sorry about your son. Boy, his trainer does sound like a huge jerk. Why is he so concerned if the dr cleared him? Will he still be in training tomorrow? I'll bet you've been getting your exercise. I hope it all works out in his favor. Go tell that guy to leave him alone!

Barb, that is cool to have gone to school with the Lennon Sisters. I remember Janet is my age and I think she was the youngest. It should be a good show. I'm pretty sure Donny and Marie aren't in the Osmonds group anymore either. We have shows all booked for every morning, afternoon and night....much to Louis's dismay. We ended up deciding to stay an extra day to see Kenny Rogers.

JL, you sure have a lot of wrapping paper. Is it Christmas or a variety? Do you have wrapping bags too? I only use paper at Christmas. Probably won't be doing that this year....cutting way back.

My dermo appt was ok. She froze my concerned spot and will check it again in November.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Mary I'm sorry your son's trainer is being a jerk. It should be none of his concern now that he has passed inspection with the shop doctor. Your son is a big guy. I bet you had your work cut out for you to try and loosen his muscles.

My sunburn is at the itchy stage now. I'm trying to get a wee bit of color to me before I go down to Southern California in September. That's the trip I take to spend my brother's birthday with him. It looks like he will have knee surgery in November and I will go down again then to help him out during his recovery.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Dianne Most of the wrapping paper is Christmas paper but there is also some birthday and all occasion type paper. I also have bags and bags of ribbon and bows and Xmas name tags. I have gift bags, too, but not in the ridiculous abundance as I have of the other stuff. It's silly to keep it as it's been many years now since I was wrapping dozens and dozens of gifts for Christmas. Most of the wrapping now is for stocking stuffers. Last year I wrapped a few gifts for the grandkids but mostly gift cards were the order of the day.

I saw Kenny Rogers perform decades ago when he still looked like Kenny Rogers. LOL

  105. Well, I have a Jake-ass horrible story if you want to hear. If not...I understand. Tammy has cameras downstairs that the kids don't know about. Yesterday Kayla brought Jake and some other guy over. The guys went thru the house stealing things the one guy found a gun under the bed and the clip to it. They took $800. iPad, gift cards, coin collection, etc. it's all on video. The. Guy is in the living room checking the gun is loaded and waving it all over. Turns out he's jakes friend that just got out of jail Monday for car theft. As Jake is counting the $ Kayla is standing next to him. Tammys phone notified her and she called the police. The kids left but there is a tracker on Kayla's car do GSM was able to tell police where she was. It took two police cars to pull her over. They found a jar of pot and the gun in the glove box. The one guy was arrested and at first Jake wasn't going to be and then they realized he's on probation with drugs. Kayla was handcuffed but not arrested. She denies she and Jake were involved just the other guy. As of tonight she knows about the video and thinks her mom betrayed her.

They went to court today and the one guy has a $5000 bail and Jake got off again. He said he couldn't miss work (he has no job) and that he has to take care of his 11 yr old brother. All lies..grandparents won't let him in house. No one checks..just believe him and let him out again. Tammy talked to probation officer and policeman involved and they no have video and are trying to build a case against him as he goes back to court Sept 6. My son (the detective) has gotten involved now. It's a different city but he can talk to them

Kayla packed her things, called her mother every rotten name she could think of, told her she would never forgive her, etc. yes my is hysterical.

What happened to my Kayla? I can't stand hearing my daughter like this. I can't be strong but can't let Tammy see this. Needless to say, we are all in tears tonight

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dianne I feel so sorry for you, Tammy, and the rest of the family. How dare Kayla! She is the one who has betrayed her mother by letting those guys go through her things and steal from her. She invited them in so I suppose it isn't breaking and entering but it surely is theft by all three as far as I'm concerned. Who pays for Kayla's phone and car? That all has to stop ASAP.

  107. DIANNE -I'm so sorry all this is happening to your family. It's too bad they didn't haul Jake-ass in. I will continue to hold you all in my prayers.

  109. It's been a crazy summer here, and not just at work. I need to catch a nap before I go to my haircut appt. Crazy thunderstorms here last night, and I didn't sleep worth a shit.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Dianne, OMG, I am so sorry this happening with Kayla. It's almost like a bad movie. I agree with JL. Kayla has betrayed her Mom by letting those guys in to take all that stuff. I can't believe the police wouldn't check out Jake's excuses for not getting jail time. They should have asked for his employer's info so they could verify his story. How incompetent of the court system. It's definitely time for some tough love and believe me, I know how hard that can be from experience. But, at least in our case, it was necessary and it gave our son a taste of what it would be like without all the support, both financial and emotional, that we gave him!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Hi Jodi....glad to see you. Hopefully things will calm down for you soon. I also hope things are going okay for you.

Barb snd JL , things are about the same. Kayla is at her dads but coming down during the day to be with Jake. Andy has taken the car and debit card finally. The court system drives us crazy. The court did make a restraining order that both guys can't be near Tammys house. I hoping when the police look at the video they will all be in trouble. She still insists it was all the other guy. Emilee had some money hidden in a little refrig she as and that was taken too.....thanks Kayla. Kayla took her Xbox and pawned it and who knows what else. Andy is still be too soft in my opinion. Oh and Tammy had to put her 7 yr old dach down last night as when she came home the other day he couldn't walk. We think one of those guys kicked it. Poor little thing.

Anyway, going to movie tomorrow to see something about moms. I forget the name.

Went to lunch with a girl I know that just came back from Nashville. After talking to her I'm ready to go again except she said it was 100 with humidity the same. Guess I'll wait. :)

What you all up to this weekend? We've had 70's the last two days. Boy, has it been nice. It makes me anxious for fall.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Dianne From what you wrote earlier, Jake was counting the cash and Kayla was standing next to him. That makes her just as culpable as him, in my book, and it definitely wasn't all the fault of Jake's friend. As for the dog....I was wondering about the coincidence that the dog's problems started at the same time as the theft. How could Kayla stand for that?

Most of the day I've been watching the Olympics. My daughter did come down this morning and after she took her dogs and mine for a hike, we went out for breakfast and had a nice visit. We decided on what excursions to sign up for on our coastal cruise in October. We decided that on our San Francisco stop will just catch a pedi-cab and go to Pier 39 to browse the shops, look at the sea lions, and have a nice seafood lunch.

  113. HOdi It was good to see you pop in. I hope all the craziness is a good kind of crazy. Come back and stay a while as soon as you can. Love ya!

  114. Barb Raising kids is not for the weak, right? I went through a tough time with my son when he was about 15. Nothing too horrible except for his crappy attitude. It was very trying. Thank goodness he grew out of it.

How are your kitties? I miss having a cat but I don't miss cleaning litter boxes.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Mary I'm so sorry about your sweet old dog. Saying goodbye is the hardest part abut having a pet.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Your exactly right JL. I hope the police see it that way too...I can't believe I'm saying that about my own granddaughter!! My ex SIL IS A TERRIBLE ENABLER TOO. He always seems to hope to believe Kayla. It frustrates me to no end.

JL. What other excursions did you chose? That should be a really nice cruise. We Go on an Alaska one in June. I was just looking at the excursions tonight.

Wish I had all my dental done. That just is hanging over me too.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Good morning, HOoters! Nothing much going on around here. I spent most of yesterday watching the Olympics. I managed to apply furniture oil to wood furniture in the living room while simultaneously watching the games so I did manage to feel accomplished. Maybe not gold medal level accomplished, but still....

So far, it's overcast and dreary here today.

  118. J/L, Our serious issues with Dean were when he was 15, too. Chad had attitude issues all through his teens, but they were manageable. Todd was so mellow and I guess he learned what not to do from his brothers. I am so grateful, because we were too tired to deal by that time. LOL

I hope when Lynn comes to Sac, it's not when you are either in SoCal or cruising. I talked to Kathy yesterday and told her she should visit when you guys are here. We can have a mini BABB. :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. Dianne, I spent most of the weekend, beginning with the Opening Ceremonies, watching the as many of the games as I could. I really love watching the Olympics. I did make two cards while I was watching, and that was pretty much all I did all weekend.

  122. Hi all! Thanks so much for the kind words about our Roxy.
Jim originally told me he didn't want to be present when
the shot was given. We drove separate so Roxy could lay her head on Jim's lap in the truck.
Roxy managed to walk in. She almost made it to the floor scale and dropped. Jim had help getting her the few feet to the scale. Just like that, she was gone! They took us all to a room where the Vet checked her over, that's when it hit Jim, hard. Even the Vet was crying! He has been her Vet since she was a pup. Oye Vey!
I am so glad I took pics and vids of her a few weeks ago. Seeing her walk around seemed to help Jim. I know this sounds silly, but here goes..We have not had rain here in a while. Well I went for my walk and found a deep set of paw prints that Roxy left during our last heavy rain. They were hard like cement. I am thinking of getting some plaster of paris and making Jim a memento. Crazy? We will be getting her ashes and spreading them out back where we went on our walks. Silly I know, but it seems to make Jim feel better.

Today we went to see a lawyer about the damage to my home office. I just got tired of all the run-a-round the insurance co was giving us! We see no reason we should have to claim the money they pay us for damages on our income tax(W-9). They won't release the money owed (which I totally covered!) unless we send them the release from liability paper with the W-9..another Oye Vey!!

As long as I am writing a novel lol...
Matthew was told last Tues."they didn't like the way he looked" when he did the job they asked him to do. It was done properly, just not up to their liking! They told him to go to his family Dr and bring in a slip the next day or he was out! Well, that just doesn't happen that easy! He couldn't get in until this morning! He was so upset last week, sure he would never have a chance to work there! He begrudgingly went to our Dr. Dr. is setting him up with an MRI to get a better look at his neck and go from there. To my surprise, he marched right back to G.M. and handed them his Drs. note. They could have dismissed him right there, but some Gal took pity on him and told him he had 90 days to "get things straightened out".
Another Oye Vey, but a better on LOL!!

Hopefully things will settle down around here soon!

I will be back later and promise not to be so gloomy lol! Miss you all!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  123. Barb I need to talk with Lynn and see if we can coordinate a visit. Shortly before or shortly after either of those trips I have scheduled would be handy as I could either drop my dog off at my daughter's before or pick the dog up from her after my visit with you.

I need to close the back door. Someone is cooking something that smells really good. It's make me want french fries.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Mary None of your ideas for tribute to your dog are silly. At my vet, they actually offer a service of having a cast made of paw print before the care of remains is performed. A lot of people like that idea. You could do it yourself by using the prints in the ground. It would mean a lot to Jim, I'm sure.

I don't get why GM is being so weird about your son's neck. Are they afraid it is a disability claim waiting to happen?

    ReplyDelete
  125. JL, That could be a part of it.Probably just covering their arses. He has done that job at another place for over 10 yrs, so he knows what he's doing. Here's hoping the MRI finds something fixable!.

Dianne, What a mess with Kayla eh? When you start feeling sorry for her, just remember this.. How many people, friends, relatives, etc, do you know who would have done what she and her so called friends did in their own families home? Like my late ex-Mother-in-law used to say, "you made your own bed, now lie in it!" Not really sure what it meant, but it sprang in my head just now lol!! She and she alone is responsible for her own actions. You can only put the blame on Jakeashole to a point.
I will still keep her in my thoughts and prayers and hope for that bulb above her head to come on!
Hodi!! We have not gotten your rain! Not expecting to see anything if any, until Thurs or Fri.!

Sat afternoon I did a DJ job. It was a nice distraction from all the gloom. The couple were in their 60s and a ball to be around! I had Jim help me set up my speakers and sent him home. I knew I could do it alone. I think he sensed Zoie was feeling a bit confused about where her sis Roxy went. She still looks around for her on our walks. I was hoping for rain so Roxy's scent would wash away from the trail.
I will be having lunch with my Retiree friends Wed., and my hair done on Thurs. :)
I'm thinking of going to a local "Art in the Park" this week end. I sure wish I had friends close by that liked to do things I like especially shows and movies. Living in the red neck area can be boring lol!!

    Later....

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hi....MARY, I don't think one thing about your plans for Roxy are silly. If it makes you and Jim feel better than thats what matters. I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. How's Zoie doing by now? Glad you had some distraction this weekend. It helps. Anything helps sometimes. Thanks for thinking and praying for Kayla. I know she's to blame too. I sure hope that light does go off and soon but I have my doubts.

I want to come to your party Barb!! I wish I could. You all will have a lot of fun for sure. We've been watching the Olympics too. Louis is watching more than I am. Barb and I went to see that movie yesterday. It was pretty funny. Good distraction for me. I ordered mynchristmas cards today. The place I order from had a 15% off and free shipping today do I jumped on it. Kind of hard picking it honho ho cards when not feeling the spirit right now.

JL, well, sounds like you were being domestic yesterday. You've got a busy couple of months coming up it sounds like. What other excursions did you pick for your cruise?

Well, last night Kayla wouldn't leave Jake or tell her parents where she was so she was missing all night. Not classified as a run away until 24 hours although Andy called the police that have been involved and are aware of Jake. I guess they stayed in a Walmart parking lot. Police called this am as they had their car checked and there was pot and a pipe. She said they were hers so she got a ticket for court for being a minor with pot. Wendy picked her up while Andy was at court filing a restraining order. She brought her over here so she could go to court with Andy. I spent the day with Kayla going on a few errands and taking her to eat and a dr appt she had. I left her there with her dad. I guess she went a little crazy when finding out about the order but calmed by tonight and went with us for Wendy's bday dinner. It was the elephant in the room but we were determined to make it a calm dinner for Wendy.

Shes at her dads tonight. I was glad to spend some time with her talking to a wall about jakeass all day but at least I knew where she was all day and not with him.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Mary, I am so sorry about Roxie. I don't think your tributes are silly either. When we had to put our cocker down, it was a year after my Hubby died and Todd (my youngest) was so upset he was almost inconsolable. When I was paying for the 'service' Todd was still crying. The tech asked how I wanted to handle the disposal and one of the options was cremation. She said we could get the ashes in a nice box and Todd asked me if we could do that. So of course, that's what I did. Todd kept the ashes in his room until he went to college and then he took them to college with him. I say whatever makes him feel better is just fine. I wish we had made a cast of his paw print.

  130. Hey Jodi, thanks for stopping by. I hope things settle down in your world and you can relax a bit.

  131. Dianne There isn't anything too exciting on this cruise, as far as excursions go. We are going to Vancouver a couple of days ahead of time so we will do a few things there before getting on the ship. There's a conservatory we want to go to in Queen Elizabeth Park. It's a large domed area with lots of plants and there are 500 exotic birds flying around loose in there. We will probably get shat on. LOL We may have dinner at the revolving restaurant that has such spectacular views of Vancouver. Our first stop on the cruise is Nanaimo which is an island. We are going on a general excursion that gives us an overview. We'll see the town, a lagoon, people in period dress at the bastion firing a canon. The next port is Seattle and we will do a general tour of the city, including the fish market area and going up to the top of the Space Needle. Next comes Astoria. We will go through the Columbia River Maritime Museum and to Fort Clapsop which is part of the Lewis and Clark trail. The fort should be interesting. That's pretty much it as we are going to go off on our own in San Francisco. The final stop is LA (Long Beach, really) and we are just going to LAX and flying home from there.

By the way, what did Kayla have to say about the dog? That part is upsetting me even more than the betrayal of the thefts.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Barb I texted Lynn about it and am hoping we can coordinate a visit.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Jl, "nothing too exciting on your trip?" lol!! It sounds to me like the whole trip is going to be exciting! I wish Jim liked to travel. I envy you and Dianne. Barb is lucky to have a travel companion too!
I am going to meeTY Bev in Vegas in Oct. and take a road trip to the Grand Canyon and Phoenix to meet up with Karina and hopefully Kathy. That's something to look forward too :)

SacBarb, What a touching memory of your son and his dog! I just told Jim. He got teary eyed, but I know I like it. I picked up Roxy's ashes after my lunch with friends. I was a bit worried! They were telling me how expensive the cremation would be! One gal said she paid $600 for her small cat! I was thinking "maybe we should of asked for the price lol!" I went to the Vet and just handed her my credit card and decided to just bite my lip and pay. When she said $70, I almost pulled back my card! I could have paid cash for that lol! WHEW!

Jim is going to take some of the ashes and spread them on their usual walk path.

Dianne, I have no more words of wisdom, just feeling the frustration for all of you!
I am thinking their next step will be to run away! I sure hope not!
I bet you can't wait for your trip back to Bronson! I wonder if Tony Orlando and Dawn will be there? I hear they are reuniting.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Mary I'm glad your care of remains for Roxie didn't break the bank. This is an expensive area to live and I'm pretty sure the cost for private cremation would have been more here for that size of dog but no where near as expensive as that lady's cat! You can get very expensive urns, that's for sure, so maybe that's what she did. If the plan is to spread the ashes, spending a lot of money on a container would be ridiculous.

The trip you and Bev have planned sounds like a blast. I guess I don't find my planned trip too exciting because I've been to most of the places before and it's not as exciting as going to Europe. This trip is expected to be easy and relaxing. Initially, we were looking at a Europe cruise and a few days in Paris but then they had the bombing. That raised concerns plus it would have been a lot more expensive. We then decided to stay closer to home and spend less money. I'd still love to do the other trip. Maybe next year. My people on my father's side came from Paris so I'd love to see it someday. The cruise we had been looking at starts in Venice and ends in Barcelona. It would have been a short trip to Paris from there.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Hi.....JL, we have no evidence about the dog..just highly suspicious. No, Kayla seems sad about the dog. I think some of the things she is totally oblivious to when it concerns Jake. She is so blinded and trusting of him.

The restraining order was filed and served so now there can be no contact. Kayla got a job today at a pizza place. Funny how quick that happened when he's not around. Now we will see if she will go. She's at her dads and with him the last two days. School starts tomorrow.

I think your cruise sounds fun. I think any cruise sounds fun. I'm kind of like you with Alaska. We've been there a few times now so I struggle to find excursions we haven't done and that I'm able to do. We are going there in June. I love it there plus I love being on the ship too. We skipped cruising this year but have had this planned.

Mary, wow that was a lot of money that lady paid for her cat. I think you got a deal. It makes me feel bad for Jim feeling so sad.

Why won't Jim travel much? He likes to go to Vegas. Have you tried to get him to go anywhere else ... Maybe Hawaii or something?

Barb, what are your plans when you all are getting together? How many days will you be together? Fun fun fun.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Dianne I love cruising and I love Alaska. Even though I've been there several times now, I'd gladly go again.

I'm glad to hear about the restraining order. The test will be to see if anybody obeys it. Maybe if Kayla gets involved in school again and enjoys her job, maybe the time and space away from Jake-ass will help her see things more clearly.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Dianne, we really don't have a plan yet. Lynn is going to Las Vegas with her Aunt and she was just thinking about stopping in Sac on her way back to WA. We don't even have dates yet, so I don't know how long they will be able to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Hi....things are quiet on my Homefront right now....thank goodness. Kayla started her job today and is staying with her dad. Restraining order seems to be working, as far as we know, at this point.

Had lunch with Barb Gordon yesterday. One more and then she's gone. Sniff sniff.

Went to lunch today with my deceased husbands daughter and granddaughter. We try to get together about every three months. It's always nice to see them.

That's about it from out here. Check in everyone.

  139. Hi, HOoters. Nothing going on here. I've been watching the Olympics and doing some housework. Oh, and paying bills. Good times. LOL

Dianne I'm glad the drama with Kayla has subsided and that she started her job. It seems this is a step in the right direction. I hope the Jake-ass moves along. Actually, it would be good if he moved away but I guess that isn't likely.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Hi... I've been doing bills and overdue filing tonight...just getting things in order. We are going to the mountains tomorrow until Wednesday afternoon. The place we are going (Crested Butte) is about four hours away. I did a groupon and got a very nice lodge. I hope it's nice when we get there. It has good reviews. Louis starts school is on Friday so just a short get away. It felt good to get that paper work done.

JL, the others must be busy this weekend. Wonder what fun things they are doing?

It seems like the Olympics last a long time.

    Well, that's it.

  141. Helloooo HOoters!

Yesterday Sharon and one of the Jennifers went to the Music Circus to see Nice Work if You Can Get it. It was a really good show and we enjoyed it. I really miss ushering and getting to see all the musicals. Even though I saw some of them many times, each performance was a little different. Afterward, we went to Outback for dinner. I got a steak and brought half of it home to eat today. I got mushrooms in wine sauce on top and it was really good. It was even good today.

Next Friday and Saturday the Jennifers and I are going to start putting together our Christmas cards. Each of us took an element and cut the papers we will need, so next we will put together an assembly line to stamp, emboss, and glue. We are also going to celebrate Jen N's birthday and take her to lunch on Friday, so we may not get too much done that day. That's why we scheduled two days. Jennifer B, may retire in about a year and we plan to spend more time together, crafting. Jen N. has about 15 more years before she can retire. She's just a baby! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  142. Dianne, I'm glad to hear things have quieted down a little with Kayla. I pray that it lasts. Have fun on your outing to the mountains.

    ReplyDelete
  143. J/L, Paradise was interesting tonight, but not too much drama. After Chad, any drama seems mild! No after show this week.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Barb After all the years that you volunteered as an usher, they should have given you a retirement package when you retired from it. LOL

You and the Jennifers better not celebrate the birthday too much as I envision a "Lucy and Ethel at the candy factory" type card making session.

Yesterday I got my nails done and also took care of some paperwork that I had been procrastinating about. I feel good to have that chore accomplished.

Last night some neighbors and I went to a Planning Commission meeting at City Hall regarding a proposal for a guy to build a 3 story home up on the road that is above our street. We really prefer there was no more building there but I think it will be done, anyway. They will take out a lot of trees, which are eucalyptus, and are considered crappy trees even though my neighbors and I enjoy them. Oh, well. What's that old saying? You can't fight City Hall.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Dianne That's so nice that you and Louis can have these little "get-aways". Relax and enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  146. J/L, Ha! It would have been nice to get a 'retirement' package, like a season ticket for life, but frankly, Music Circus management didn't really care about the ushers that much. Back in the 60s they were very appreciative and even made sure we all got a seat after our duties were completed. We appreciated it even though they were in the last two rows. The theater is in the round and it held about 2,000 people, but even the last row were good seats. However, the old man died and his son took over and that ended all comps for the ushers. We still could see the show for free if we could find a seat, but it was very difficult to find seats, and if there were empty seats, they were usually in the middle of the row and we were not supposed to climb over the patrons. So the opportunity was very limited!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Hello Hooters! I am happy to see you are all doing fine.

I just finished doing exactly what you guys have been doing! Paying bills and organizing my paper work. I am so glad I can pay on-line! Mostly my Verizon cell, home and internet service. I keep my Macy's & Credit card going just to keep my credit up. Oh yeah, also those pesky Dr. bills that show up months after we have been there!

Barb, I didn't remember that you retired from ushering. Now you may get into trouble with all that spare time on your hands lol!

JL, you really have to go to Paris! I thought you had been there already. I loved it, but still prefer Italy.

Dianne, no way would Jim go as far as Hawaii! He hates flying. Remember too, he is a smoker. He only tolerates the trip to Vegas, because, well, it's to Vegas lol!!!

  148. Hello..we r home from our Mtn getaway. It was nice and the weather was nice. I was glad to get out of the 90's. We drove home today in rain and some hail. It was 40 on top of one of the passes we went over. Louis made me turn off the air conditioner. It's so pretty up there. We did a lot of driving around sightseeing on Tuesday. The hotel we stayed at was a ski in ski out hotel and restaurant. I'll bet it's really pretty in the winter and expensive. We got a groupon for $89 per night for a very nice room. They did charge $20 for parking but included valet if you used it or not so we did!!

Tomorrow is my good bye lunch with Barbara gordon. I'm sure going to miss her.

JL, were there a lot of people at your meeting? You're right...can't fight city hall. Looks like we've all been catching up on paper work.

Barb, my Christmas cards arrived today. I have a few left from last year and then ordered my new ones last week. If you order early you get 15% off, free shipping and free personalizing. Have fun with your friends this weekend. I'm sure you will. It will be fun for you when Jennifer retires.

Mary, I forgot about the smoking part of Jim. He would not like our casinos....no smoking allowed anywhere in Colorado.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Barb Unfortunately, none of my long-time jobs had retirement packages and they weren't volunteer jobs, either. I guess if I would have stuck with the gas company I worked at in So Cal after high school, they would have had one and then I moved up here and worked at the phone company and they would have one. I only worked for 1 1/2 or 2 years at each of those, though. Otherwise, I was working for non-profits or in the veterinary field and that's it. I guess I should have been smarter about planning how it would be in my old age. I bet I'm not alone in saying that.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Mary No, I haven't been to France or Italy but I would love to go. The European cruise I went on a few years ago with my daughter was Eastern European and Scandinavian. It was a lovely cruise and included two days in St. Petersburg, Russia.

It's gotten to be very difficult to be a smoker these days. Not so much in Europe but good luck getting Jim to go without for that long of a flight. When I used to smoke, I was very hesitant to take a long flight as I wanted to climb the walls after the first two hours. Sucking on nicotine lozenges really helped quite a bit and then I knew I could smoke when we deplaned and got outside the airport. I'm so glad I gave it up 10 years ago. Again, those lozenges were a life saver during that process.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Dianne The lodge you stayed at sounds lovely. I guess you won't be going there during the winter to "ski in". Yesterday, I sat out in the sun for a little while again but this time I didn't have a bird land on my head. I did get sunburned again but not as bad as before. I'm trying to get a little color before I go to southern California in September as I will be so desperately hot that I will be willing to wear long shorts.

I've been on Weight Watchers Online now for 3 months and have lost 19 1/4 lbs. I'm going to just keep on counting points until I get where I want to be. It will take a long time but that's okay. I'm hoping not to back-slide to badly during my trips to southern California and the coastal cruise. At least with the cruise, you have to walk a long way to go to dinner and I'll be walking a lot on the excursions.

    ReplyDelete
  152. HOdi Waving a wing. We miss you.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Wow JL, you are doing great with WW. Congratulations. I guess I should count points instead of just weighing in!!! Up and down every week. I'm really glad a bird didn't land on your head and poop!! Lol. Nope, won't be skiing much this winter ..I can barely walk.

Went to dinner tonight with BOTH girls. It was nice and they finally talked some to each other. By the time I'm done with dinner with them, I'm shaking my head about what they talk about...although, Kayla mentioned a girlfriend we know wants to introduce her to a nice guy. Just the fact that she mentioned it gives me a glimmer of hope.

Police finally called Tammy today and he's going to court with her on Monday to extend restraining order and talk to the judge .. Finally.

    Jodi, I miss you too

Today was my last lunch with barb. It was sad to say goodbye to her. Funny...we brought each other cards and presents. It's been fun getting to know her.

  154. Hello HOoters. I just finished cleaning off the pool table to get ready for the Jennifers tomorrow. I have been making some birthday cards and a sympathy card, so I had stuff everywhere! I loving having a place to do all that stuff, but now that I have cats, they are very nosey and they walk all over the table. They like to lay on it, too. I have to keep shooing them away!

  155. Dianne, It was nice that you got to see Barbara Gordon before she left. At least you will be able to keep in touch via Facebook.

  156. J/L, I'm watching the men's beach volleyball match between Italy and Brazil. They are playing in the rain but they still have a big crowd watching. Brazil won the first set and this one is tied. The US men didn't make it to the semi-finals. I like watching volleyball, both beach and indoor. It's very exciting. I watched a rugby game for the first time ever and holy cow, that's a rough game. I am enjoying these Olympics, except I am sad about the swimmers that lied about being robbed. I can't understand why they would do that!

  157. Mary, I don't think I mentioned that I retired from ushering. I didn't do it last year because I had the back surgery and I was going to see how I would do this year, but as it bot closer, I knew I wouldn't be able to stand for two hours or more, so I just had to give it up.

  158. Dianne It seems like Barbara just got her Colorado house set up the way she wanted and then, poof, she's moving back to Washington again. That was nice you lived close enough to meet for lunches while she was there.

That's interesting about Kayla's girlfriend wanting to introduce her to someone. I agree that it's a good sign that she mentioned it. Is she still working at the pizza place, so far? I wonder if she is still "friends" with Jake-ass on FB. I would assume that a restraining order would prohibit any contact, including that. I hope things go the way Tammy wants at the hearing on Monday.

  159. Barb That whole incident with Lochte was an embarrassment. I suppose he really wanted to share the part about having a gun pointed at him (I bet that got his adrenaline going) without copping to the fact that he (or they) had just broken stuff in a restroom. I really don't understand why the destruction happened. No one has said they were drunk or on drugs. Boys behaving badly, I guess. It cast a bad shadow over all the other swimmers who don't deserve it.

I've never watched rugby. I love the Olympics but I'm kind of overwhelmed with it and need to watch something else periodically so I miss some stuff.

  160. So, I survived two days of cardmaking - well really one and one-half days, as we took Jen N. out to lunch and a movie yesterday for her birthday. I am sooooo tired, I am definitely going to bed early. We had an assembly line going and I was doing stamping, Jen N. was embossing and Jenn B. was stamping and tearing paper to make it look like a snow bank. Now I have you all curious about what the card looks like, right? Well, you are going to have to wait until December! Ha! This year's card is not as elaborate as some of our past cards.

  161. Good night and sweet dreams to you all! <3

  162. Barb, what movie? Sounds like you had a fun weekend. Don't you feel good being so ahead on your cards? Glad you are enjoying yourself...now get a good nice sleep

Well JL, your team just beat my team in preseason. We aren't quite sure who our quarterback is since Manning is gone. It was preseason but we don't want to lose....we were last years champs!!

Yes, it was too bad with barb getting everything all done on their house and then her husbands company went out of business. It will be nice in the long run for them to get back to the new grandson snd they kept their Washington house. The plan was supposed to be her for ten years. I will miss her. I think she's excited to get back to family and friends.

Yes, as far as I know as of today...Kayla is still on the job. Last night she had two girlfriends spend the night at dads. It's encouraging.

I finally heard from dentist that my date is sept 15. I'll be glad when this is over.

Going to the movie tomorrow to see the new Meryl Streep movie.

Oh gosh was that concert good last night. It was from 7:30-11:00. Boy, can Josh groban sing. I could listen all night. He ended with Over The Rainbow. Sarah McLaughlin was wonderful too. I loved them singing together. We had handicap on the floor in the sixth row!! The audience was older so everyone sat for the whole show. It was great. We met another couple for dinner in the venue before the show. I think Louis enjoyed it too.

  163. Went to see that movie today. It's a true story about a lady that couldn't sing. I'd rate it a 7. It was ok and I really like Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant. Kind of sad in places.

I guess that's about it for me. Not much to say since my last post.

  164. Geesh! I thought I had posted recently! I must have read the comments and split lol!!
    This getting old sucks!

We had a bit of excitement Sat. My sis who lives in Wyoming, MI.(about 65 miles from me, close to Lake Michigan)met me for lunch in Ionia. I had a bunch of our garden tomatoes to give her. We had no idea that tornadoes were about to head out too! We were eating while sirens were going off all over the place! It wasn't until I got home that I realized hoe bad ir was! We were sitting between 5 tornadoes! My sister's neighborhood was hit pretty good, but they were spared any damage. My area was sparred except for the torrential rains! Whew! Last year about this time or town 6 miles away got hit by tornadoes. There was so much damage! Many homes and businesses were hit and 4 churches were demolished. All are back up and running now, but I bet they were terrified when tornado warnings went out!

I talked to my sister Janie in Texas today. She has dementia. She has been asking about my deceased brother Tony and sister Cecilia. She gets so sad when she suddenly remembers! Her hubby was just hospitalized this weekend so she has been alone. Her daughter lives in Dallas and checks in on her as often as she can. They refuse to live in assisted living, so it frustrates family members!
Her hubby has elevated ammonia in his blood. Not sure what that is, but some his sister died from this last year. Some idiot Dr took him off the meds that keep it in check! he went from a "60" to almost "300", he was in a coma for a couple of days! He is doing better now thank goodness!

Dianne Hooray on getting an apptmt for your procedure!! I still wish I could go to movies with you :( Lucky you hearing two of my favorite singers!

SacBarb. I look forward to your cards. I sure wish I had the patients for making them! You sure have a flair and talent! I'm not in a rush for Christmas though lol!! I'm sure I am looking forward to the cold weather!

JL, WOW, How cool that you are losing weight! I am such a bad dieter! I have lost about 4lbs by not eating too close to bed time and cutting out some of my favorite sweets (which kills me!). I need to lose about 40lbs, but will settle for 10 lol!!

  165. Wow, I really need to proof read my posts! BTW, I am NOT looking forward to cold weather lol!!
    As you were....

  166. Barb I always look forward to seeing your cards. They're always special. I guess it's time for me to start looking for Christmas cards online. You are creative and I won't even shop creatively. LOL

I really enjoyed the Olympics but I didn't bother to watch the closing ceremonies. I think I was tired of watching it.

  167. Dianne It's encouraging that Kayla is spending more time with girlfriends now. Maybe she is finally able to pull away from Jake-ass's gravitational pull.

It seems that you are able to go to a lot of concerts. That's really nice. I'm glad you and Louis enjoyed your evening out. I hope Sarah didn't sing that song that is part of the TV ad about abused animals. That used to come on TV a lot, showing all those sad, furry faces, and I'd have to switch the channel.

I thought the Meryl Streep movie looked like an interesting story. I think I'd like to see the movie, "Hell or High Water" with Jeff Bridges.

  168. Mary As far as dieting goes, the only kind of sweet that I sometimes have a craving for is chocolate. Depending on my daily count of WW points, I can have a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich (I like the vanilla ice cream ones best. The cookie part is chocolate.) or I will make a small glass of chocolate milk. Nothing is really off limits as long as I have points available for it. My weight loss has slowed down since the beginning but that is to be expected. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

That was scary about the tornadoes. I spent some time in the lowest level of a hotel in Memphis one night as a tornado skirted past us. It was quite the experience. I'm glad I don't live in tornado country. I hope it's not a frequent occurrence for you.

I hope you and other family members can get your Texas sister into assisted living. They never want to move and I understand that but it does come to the point where it's dangerous for them to live alone.
