This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
Happy New Year everyone! We went out to dinner, stopped at VFW for a drink and were home by 9:30. Woopie! How exciting!! It rained most of the day and night.Luckily it didn't freeze on the roads. Northern Michigan got pounded with snow. It's a cold, wet, gloomy day. Zoie is being lazy and has yet to leave the bed lol. I made her stay up last night and watch "Dick Clark's" New Years Eve party. Jim has gone to the Casino with a friend. I will do my knee exercises like a good girl and maybe laundry.
Mary I'm glad you had a safe evening and the roads didn't freeze. I only turned on the Dick Clark New Year's Eve show for a minute and it sure was a downpour there. I didn't care for the entertainers but felt sorry for them trying to do a show in all that rain. I got a new umbrella the other day and it is dome shaped so it comes down to around the shoulders and it is see through. Great protection from wind and rain. The NY peeps could have used that kind of umbrella.
The power went out at some point this morning and it was 4 hours later than I thought when I got out of bed. I have a feeling this is going to be a stay and home and be lazy kind of day.
Just_Lin, I was not impressed with the entertainers either. I want an umbrella like yours! I switched channels and cant't remember which party had Dianna Ross. She sure has the big hair and huge wardrobe! She looked pretty good!
Happy new year....Mary, I watched the one with Diana Ross too. It as with Carson Daly and had Keith urban in Nashville. It was a much better show. They had those dome umbrellas. I used to have one years ago. I thought Diana looked good too. She’s 74. Sounds like you had a busier night than we did. We ate Wendy’s and stayed home in the snow and 10/degrees weather. We were meeting my nephew for lunch today but he was sick so I slept most of the day. We were going to take down decorations but never got around to it.
JL, you just have been sleepy this am. I’m really ready to get out of town. I have a pretty hateful daughter in law and she decided to write me some hurtful texts at midnight. I never really hear much from her and thought we’d had a nice day on Christmas there. One thing she doesn’t like is that i ask for the kids sporting events schedules. She says her dad just calls each day to see if there is an event to go too. She also thinks I make it complicated by asking how much walking there is, etc. This all was quite an unwelcome surprise at midnight. Anyway, very hurtful and I won’t be going to other holiday things there again.
Enough of my moaning. Barb, happy new year to you too
Thanks Just_lin. I have some Amazon gift money I can use to order one :)
Dianne, Your DIL sounds mean. I have disliked many a relative, and would never treat them in such a way! Has she always been mean-hearted? I would not want to be around someone so toxic! You didn't deserve her nasty text! You are a sweetheart!!:)
Looks like it may be a week for venting. Bebbi's daughter managed to ruffle her Mom's feathers! Me? I love everybody .... today lol!!!
Dianne I didn't see your post. I guess we were typing at the same time. I'm sorry your DIL hurt your feelings. Maybe she'd been drinking? Perhaps it all came across harsher than she intended. Texting can do that. It sounds like she feels a little overwhelmed with all the sports scheduling. Perhaps you can get your own schedules from the schools or from the school's websites or even directly from the kids.
Mary I wonder if I'm going to have to go round up Dianne and Barb. They seem to be lost in the new year.
It's a stormy day today. A perfect day to stay home wearing my baggy sweat pants. Yesterday I got my hair dyed and cut and then made a spaghetti dinner for myself. Yay for leftovers tonight. It's going to be a lazy day today.
Just_lin, Your day sounds wonderful to me! We had a 50* and sunny weather yesterday. Today is a bit cooler , but sunny again. i love it! Zoie and I have been enjoying our walks. I was having pain the last few days and decided I needed to stretch my legs. I think I needed more straight-line walking. Too many quick short steps in the house. I have been exercising every day and using my recumbent bike . It is out in the garage so I bundle up lol! Good ole Max just arrived. Jim has been going to bed early, so I hope Max takes a hint when Jim gives it lol!
I missed Myla's Birthday (Raquel's daughter). I have had a bit of a tummy problem since NYE. It may have been the buffet we had. I spent most of yesterday on the turlett! I am better today after a few Peptobismal tablets.
Hi....I’m here. Thanks for the nudges. We are going to my granddaughter, Emillies for Christmas with their family tonight. We’re going to order pizza. I think a couple of Ems friends will be there too. I had a really nice Christmas lunch with my friend Karen today st Olive Garden.i had salmon.
Mary, I felt a little queasy New Years Eve day too. I was betterva couple of days later. I hope you’re feeling better now. Hope Max doesn’t stay forever. I haven’t done my bike for a long time.
Ok...I’m back. Had a nice Christmas evening with Tammy and family. Tammy is not doing well at all. She can barely walk. Ortho dr said it would take 3-4 Mos to be well. In hopefully three weeks she will feel better and be able to start pt! She’s miserable in pain. She can’t even drive. It was nice to get to see her.
JL.Your dinner sounds very good. Our power went out in basement And we ended up having to call an electrician. He went outside and checked all the wires, etc., and then came in and pushed our igf button just needing pushing in the bathroom for $140. I think that’s a lot to push a button! I will try and get my own sports schedules. She’s just mean about so many things. She simply doesn’t like Todd’s family. She barely will speak to his dad and step-mom.
Mary, yes my dil is mean and opinionated and always has been. She gets in a lot of fights with people and her family. I’ve just never been on the receiving end of them. She texted me for about 45 min and then again in the morning. I texted nice things back and then have up and quit responding. I’m very hurt that my son let her talk to me that way. Did max go home yet?
Barb, it’s almost time for a nudge from me now that Mary sent you one. Hope all is ok
Mary, I saw your post and came right here. I posted a comment on NY day and it seems to have disappeared. I don’t understand how that happened. Anyway, I’ll try again, although I don’t remember exactly what I said except to wish everyone a happy New Year.
Yay, our nest is no longer empty! Dianne, LOL, Max left about 10:30 when Jim said he was tired and going to bed. I can't help but wonder how Tammy did on her plane ride home.
Barb, I hope you didn't mind my sending you an owl to nudge you lol! Eloping now a days is understandable with all the expenses that can climb sky high! We eloped to Vegas 40 years ago on Jan 22, and had a big reception when we got back. Worked for us!
Just_lin, My umbrella is scheduled to arrive Monday :). Another sunny beautiful day today :)
Barb You did post about spaghetti with clam sauce on Christmas Eve and your grandson eloping but that was on 12/29.
Congratulations, btw, on the marriage of your grandson. It's crazy how much a formal wedding can cost, especially if you're going for the "dream" wedding. Are they thinking of having a small reception to celebrate the event? I never had the formal wedding with white dress like I grew up believing I would. I don't know if it's as much of a dream for today's young ladies.
Dianne I'm so sorry about your DIL. On the bright side, you know this is just her nature and it's really not personal. Your son has been with her long enough to know and probably just tries to stay out of the line of fire. She probably isn't happy unless she has a bunch of drama going on. She sounds very controlling.
Electricians and plumbers do have a base amount they charge just to go out on a call. If they get a lot of calls, they can make some good money. On the bright side, you now know about that button if the problem ever occurs again.
Poor Tammy. Getting in and out of boats can be tricky and it's trickier the older we get. I bet she would have healed faster if she would have broken a bone. Tissue damage seems to take much longer to heal.
Mary Enjoy your umbrella. You're sure to get some rain eventually so you can test it out. You may find they packed it with a very light powder on it which you can just wipe off.
I'm glad Max took the hint and left when Jim was ready to go to bed. Does Max have to travel far to come and visit him? He probably comes for some of your great home cooking, too, not just to visit Jim.
Just_lin, Max lives about 40 miles from us. He does have an uncanny sense of when we are about to eat lol. I fooled him this time. We were only having hotdogs & Mac.n cheese.
He should have come today. We had baked chicken, mashed taters & veggies.
Happy New Year everyone!

ReplyDeleteIt has been a little crazy in my house for tha past three months or so, with Chad and Arch moving in, going to Santa Monica to try to figure out my brother’s estate ( or lack of) crap, getting bronchitis, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and other family stuff. On the plus side, my gradnson and his fiancĂ© came over on Christmas Eve for the traditional spaghetti with clam sauce and announce that they eloped! They were planning for a November 2019 wedding and everything is so expensive, they decided all that $$$ could be put to better use as a down payment on a house.
J/L, thanks for your nudge on behalf of you and Dianne. That prompted me to post on New Year’s Day.
Dianne, I hope Tammy’s leg is healing. What a traumatic experience!
I’m sorry to have been mia so much. I will try to be much better in this new year. ❤️ U All.
Yay, our nest is no longer empty!
