This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Sitting up here on my perch I have been thinking how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends like you! Here's hoping for another year full of love & friendship (a million $ would be kind of nice too LOL)! We went out to a nice dinner with my BIL. It was sad not having Shirley with us, but she was there in spirit, as we spoke of her often. There was a funny "sign" of hope from her the other day The nurse trech specialist removed the tube to wipe it down. As usual she (nurse) was explaining what she was doing, as she was doing it. Well, when it came to telling her she was putting the tube back in, Shirley very clearly said a few "expletive" words to her! The nurse told Ken, "I'm not telling you what she said" LOL! Thursday we will find out if they can move her to a place closer to home. Prayers and good thoughts please :) Of all times, Zoie wanted to go out last nigh. It was a few minutes before midnight. It was freezing out, so I really assumed it would be a quick trip. Well, waaay too quick lol! She had almost finished when "BOOM" someone shot off a cannon at midnight and a few fireworks! Zoie almost broke her neck flying up the porch steps to get away from the noise! I usually carry her up although she is able. Poor thing was petrified! Well, that's it on my NYE adventures. Oh, we did stop by out VFW on our way home to visit a few friends. All was going well until the freakin pedophile showed up and decided to sit at the long table we we at! Off we went! At least we got a few greetings in! My only NYE resolution will be to never mention this jerk again, he doesn't deserve the space he tries to occupy in my brain! nuff said! Love yah all!!!
How did you all celebrate last night? The extent of my celebration was to make myself a filet mignon dinner and binge watch shows on Netflix. I didn't even make myself a drink. Someone in the neighborhood started setting off explosives at around 10:30 so that wasn't fun for my dog. It was just random now and then until midnight then it got more serious for a little while. Fortunately, it didn't go on and on like it does on July 4.
JustLin, "ouch!" lol! I had filet Mignon also(<<<<<< spell check wanted it capitalized lol) It was so tender! It was supposed to come with a large salad bar according to their "special" Our ditzy waitress said it would cost an extra $3 . We all declined. Our meal came with small red taters, steamed veggies,a roll and a huge strawberry cheesecake. That was plenty! I had a glass o wine. After dinner the manager asked how everything was and apologized for not giving us our salad bar. The waitress came back and said that she never gets on FB and didn't see the add??? huh? I didn't either, but I distinctly remember her reading off the special, including the salad bar. She was very young, so we chalked it up to inexperience and gave her a nice tip.
I just discovered something amazing guys!! Remember when I mentioned losing my posts as I was typing them? Well, I just did it again! I tried something..I clicked on the "bare" comment area and it gave me the option of return, or "go back", forgot which as I was not expecting anything.. Bamm, my whole comment popped out!
Happy New Year everyone. Well, we took barb with us and went for good Chinese food last night. We were home early and watched New York New Years. Today the three of us met and went to lunch in the mountains and then to Blackhawk to the casino. We were there about three hours and I only lost $20 for the day. It was nice weather and a fun day. We are back to doing nothing tonight. We will take down the tree on Saturday. Tammy is better. She’s only taking Tylenol and finally got out for awhile yesterday and today. She sounds much better. She goes on the 9th to get stitches out.
Mary, sounds like you had a nice evening until that guy showed up! I’m praying for your SIL to be moved and get better. Glad your BIL was able to go to dinner. Our weather is nice today but went to see my SIL’s new place the other day and got stuck in the parking lot. Two guys came out to push me out. It was very stressful to me as there was a car parked very close to me that I was scared I’d hit.
JL, you dinner sounded good too. Wed I’d have a little Baileys at midnight last night. When does your daughter come back? I heard some fireworks at midnight here but very brief.
Barb, what’s new with you now that you’re home? Nice that Todd is getting you another blanket for his house. I don’t think I’d use one as I’m normally hot. No Ww this week as closed but will get back on band wagon next week. I’ve been out of control since vacation in November! I’m glad you had a good time seeing your son and wife. Family visits are fun. We are going to going to Emilee's on Friday late afternoon and have Christmas with Tammy.
Happy New year everyone. 🎆🎊🎉🎊🎉. Chad and I had paninis made on my TFal sandwich maker. I’ve had it for 2-3 years and this is the first time we used it. That was our big celebration!
Mary, I saw Your comment on Karina’s post. How nice of you to send her a gift basket for a housewarming gift. It sounds like she’s happy to be back in AZ. I hope Zoie finished her business before she ran up the stairs. Poor puppy! So sorry that guy showed up at the VFW to ruin your visit.
Dianne, I have been out of control on my diet, too. I gained three lbs. in SD and have had a hard time getting back with the program. I am really trying, though. I’m glad Tammy is doing a little better. Is Emilee cooking dinner for everyone or are you just going to exchange gifts? How nice that she’s hosting.
J/L, Chad and I stayed up til a little after midnight on NYE and we didn’t hear any shots or fireworks. This is the first year we didn’t hear anything. I was happily surprised. Maybe all the neighbors are too old now. That’s OK with me. New Year’s day we just vegged. I watched the parade and caught up on the soaps I missed while I was in SD and Chad watched some stuff he had recorded. There are only a few things we watch together, but mostly we have very different taste in TV shows.
Just a lazy day today. My BIL, Ken sent a text asking me to call. I was a bit afraid of what he was going to say. The Drs told him that Shirley will never get better and that he should take her home. I don't have any details yet. I am wondering what the set up will be. I'm sure there will be some kind of home care , but wonder how Ken will be able to take care of all her needs once he is alone with her. She has always taken care of him. He is about 12 yrs younger than him. She always worried about finances if she wasn't around and always kept things paid up and insured, so he would be debt free. Her house was always immaculate. It has been hard watching her look so helpless! I have no idea how much time she has left, but at least she will be at home around people who love her.
Mary, so sorry about your SIL. Glad she can be home.
We had Christmas at ems on Friday and ordered Chinese. It was nice except I’ve been having shoulder/ heat pains for five days. I have dr appt tmrw but scared me enough to go to ER this am. We were there for six hours. They took me right back when I said chest pain. I had two EKG’s, chest X-ray, shoulder X-ray and CAT SCAN plus lots of blood work. Long story short, my heart is good. They don’t know why I have this horrible pain and sent me home with prednisone and lydocaine patches. The patch is not working and no pain pills. I’ll still go to dr tmrw . I’m really frustrated but glad to know my heart is good. Hospital only charged $90 with MEDICARE but drugs were $175! If you all can, please say a little prayer that the prednisone works as this is miserable.
Mary I, too, am so sorry about your SIL. This is a very tough situation. I hope Ken has helpful neighbors and friends close by. Also, I hope there are home visits from hospice workers. They make such a big difference.
I'm glad you found the remedy for your disappearing comments. Are you getting more used to the smaller keyboard now? My phone is small so I have to use a stylus with it. I forget what you're typing on. Is it a tablet?
Dianne Well, the good news is that the problem is not with your heart. That is a big relief. Are you feeling any better today? Maybe it's a pinched nerve in your neck as that can radiate downward. I hope you get it figured out soon. I have been dealing with what is called tennis elbow. I don't play tennis and am not sure what I did to cause it. It started when I was putting up Xmas decorations so I guess that is just proof of how out of shape I am.
It looks like Tammy has been able to get out of the house a little bit. I'm sure that's made her very happy. I hope she's really, really careful going up and down stairs to her bedroom.
Barb Oh, I just realized that Bachelor starts again tonight! My daughter is still here so I will have to force her to watch it if she isn't out visiting with a friend. Maybe Chad will start watching, especially when all the hot babes are in their bikinis. LOL
My daughter and her girlfriends (and her dogs) were away at a seaside resort for a couple of days during New Year's Eve. At around 10:30, one of her friends asked if they shouldn't open the champagne. The answer was "no" that they should uncork it at midnight. Her response was, "No, I mean do it now so we can finish drinking it at midnight so we can go to bed". LOL You know you're getting old when you want to be done celebrating at 12:01 so you can go to bed.
Went to primary PA today to follow up. He thinks it could be pleurisy and the steroids should help that condition. He read all the things from yesterday. Shows a few nodules on my lung so will scan in three months just to be sure no changes. I finally got a week of pain pills to at least put me to sleep. If not better in a week, come back in to see him.
Dianne I remember my husband once telling me that he had pleurisy once. He said it was very painful to breathe. I hope the meds are helping and that you feel much better soon.
Thanks gals for your good thoughts and comments for my SIL.
JustLin, It's a new keyboard for my pc. I'm keeping this pc until it falls apart lol I was wondering about your daughter's dogs while on vaca. Does she keep them leashed or are they trained to not wander off?
Dianne, I feel so bad about your pain! It's awful when you can't get relief! Thank goodness your heart is good!!
SacBarb,Glad you had an uneventful NYE, noise-wise! Zoie did get her business done, but had she been human, she would not have had time for the turlet paper lol!!!
