Four Husbands

by Dianne (obviously!)

The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation. "He's a funeral director," she answered.

"Interesting," the newsman thought.

He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living. She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she had first married a banker when she was in her 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, and a preacher when in her 60's, and now - in her 80's - a funeral director.

The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers.

She smiled and explained,

"I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go."

  1. I must not remember this as I found myself laughing at my own joke! It is pretty funny. Well, our state went on full shut down today or really tmrw am. We can go to,store, food pick up, gas and that about it. Actually that all,we’re doing anyway. We went to,senior hour at.costco yesterday. The police were there and it was a two hour wait. We left and came back two hours later and no one even there. I had a prescription to pick up. I know you ca people are still Nader the same law but r u Mary? If people would only follow it we would be better but they are still in the parks, etc. they are going to,have to get stricter.

So update me on your lives. I did do an online Ww class today, which I needed. I’m eating everything. We have Netflix now do Louis justvwarched that or news....kind of makes me crazy all day.

J/L, It’s nice that the stores are giving seniors special hours, but Costco and some other stores have posted signs stating only seniors can shop those hours and no one can be admitted with them who is not a senior. So, since Chad can’t go in with me, he is just going to do it all himself during the regular hours. I don’t think they thought it out well, because if I am alone, I can’t reach a high shelf or lift heavy items. Costco sells milk in two, one gallon shrink wrapped sets. I can’t even lift that. So many items Costco sells come in large and heavy packages. So I give him a list, but I really like going in case I see something I would like that I didn’t put on the list.
I have been getting my hair done every week because I can no longer reach around to dry or style the top and back of my head. So, for two weeks now I have dried the front sides using my round brush and just kind of drying the back without using the brush. You haven’t seen ugly til you’ve seen me with my hair like that. At least it’s clean and I get to shower without a shower cap.

Mary, I see you were making tortillas. I put a comment on your post about my one and only time making tortillas. Maybe I will try again using your recipe.
Did you get the water heater fixed and all the water out? I imaging it was quite a chore.
I hope you can get some relief from the pain in your shoulder with pt and some pain med.

  3. Dianne, Thanks for the laugh. I hope you and Louis are doing better. I see you are confined to your home now also. I bet you’re already getting cabin fever. As long as that’s the only fever you get, it will be OK. I’m getting a few things done that should have been done long ago. Also, I seem to be napping more. I could be making cards, but I’m just not motivated. It’s more fun when I do it with the Jennifers.

  4. Hi! We are under strict home confinements here. Jim did go out to get his meds and a pizza tonight. I was way too tired to cook! I have been cleaning out the basement. We had to cut up the wet carpet to get it out. I am trying to save a few pieces. I will never completely carpet it again! I have decided to have the cement floor sealed/painted and just have a few throw rugs. All my Karaoke & exercise equipment is down there. We don't normally have the heat on because we rarely go down in the winter months. Its on now! Trying to get all the moisture out. Our dehumidifier stopped working (of course).
Matthew and I have been busy. Jim gets winded just going to the mailbox, so I don't count on him too much. If he ever came in contact with anyone with the virus, he would never survive! Not a thing wrong with his appetite lol!
Thursday I made a "meat run". I went early to make sure it wasn't crowded. It's about 20 miles from us. They grow and process their own beef & chicken. I like knowing where it comes from! There have never been out of beef, but last week they announced they would be out until further notice! Well since they have a web site on FB, I happened to check them out early, but nothing. One hr later they announced that they restocked with beef. We use a lot of hamburg & chicken, rarely pork except for bacon :)
I was lucky, there were only a few people there. News had not gotten out yet. They are very popular around here.
Zoie is so confused lol! She keeps looking towards Matthew's room when he usually leaves for work, and has this "what's going on " look all day lol!
I am confused too! What day is it anyway lol!

About my shoulder, I have not been able to see my PT, with all the confinements. I have been doing lots of stretching and Tai Chi. Dr gave me a script that seems to help a lot. It's a teenie tiny pill and I have to cut it in half! I am to have one, half a day. The other half if needed. I have been "needing" .
    Heading to bed.
Stay safe my friends. Love you all!!

  5. Dianne LOL at you forgetting your own blogs and laughing at your jokes.

As for what I'n doing during this time......not much, that's for sure. Yesterday, I took the dog to the vet for her appointment to express her anal glands and also a nail trim. They had me call them to let them know when we were in their parking lot. A veterinary technician then came out and got the dog and then returned her to the car when she was done. The receptionist then called me in the car to tell me the amount due and to get payment over the phone. Afterward, I had to go to the post office and that was it for my big outing. I did play fetch with the dog in the backyard.

Otherwise, I'm watching a good deal of TV and movies. I'm currently watching Mindhunter on Netflix which is about the origination of the unit of the FBI that studies behaviors of serial killers. Also on Netflix is Ozark and The Crown. Both are excellent.

  6. Barb Most days I haven't bothered too much with my hair except for after washing it. Then I really have to style it while drying it. Otherwise, I just run a brush through it if I'm staying home. I'm here alone so who cares if my hair isn't perfect?

As of today, all DMV offices are closed to the public and appointments are canceled. I was fretting about having to go in in person to take the written test on 4/14 since my license will expire on 5/6. I guess that's out of my hands now. Another thing on my mind is that my car registration is due in mid May and it requires a smog check. So far, I don't see anything about extending registrations or the smog requirement.

I have an unopened 500 piece jigsaw puzzle. Maybe I'll be getting that out soon. I bought it back in the days when Lani and I would work on them together. That gives you an idea of how long I've had it.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mary That's some serious meat buying that you do. I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted. When I went shopping on Tuesday, I bought 2 thick pork chops and ground beef and some frozen seafood and some frozen entrees. I made stuffed pork chops with stuffing and gravy and broccoli on Tuesday night. I have a leftover pork chop, gravy and stuffing to have another night. Last night I made some meatballs and some noodles and I have leftovers of that, too. I need to cook the rest of the ground beef tonight so I's going to be meatloaf and mashed potatoes. There will be more leftovers again. I guess I'll start eating leftovers tomorrow night. LOL

I don't love to cook but I seem to really get into making big meals for myself when I feel a lot of anxiety and worry and I'm definitely feeling vulnerable in that way lately. The big meals make me feel like I'm taking care of myself emotionally.

I'm sorry you can't get started on your PT. Did they suggest anything you can do on your own? I'm glad the meds give you some relief. I hope you didn't overwork that shoulder when cleaning up from the water heater flood.

  8. My activity for today was to mop the kitchen floor. I also need to vacuum and dust but I don't want to use up all my activities in one day. LOL

  9. JustLin, I haven't contacted PT yet. I assumed they were shut down. I probably should call now that things have calmed down a bit here at home. So far I have not had any added pain from all the basement work.My knees are sore from running up and down the stairs to the basement. There's quit a few of them.

Matthew averted a possible tragedy! Along with turning on the heat down there, I also had a space heater plugged in. It was on all night. the next day,Matthew was helping move the wet carpet when he kept hearing a buzzing sound. It was coming from the wall electrical circuit box. Seems the space heater was sending too much power and was arching in the box! The sound quit as soon as he unplugged it! Scary!!

Your cooking sounds great JL! I would have loved the stuffed pork chop. I never have luck cooking them. I must over cook because they are usually tough lol! What's your secret?

Where are the other owls? I worry about you and hope you are safely tucked in your nests!

  10. Hi....I’ve been so busy doing nothing! We took a ride yesterday just to get out for awhile. We did order some Mexican food curbside and then dropped some on Tammy’s porch. I think we will go early to grocery tmrw only because we need to pick up a couple of prescriptions and our grocery does not deliver them. We are going to start ordering them from now on. I, like everyone, am so darn scared. My grandson tested positive for the virus. He was sick on the 13th and tested. They just got the results. He’s been off work long enough since then so can go back to work. My son has been home on vacation. They are all ok but just so worrisome.

JL, your pork chop does sound good. I have some to put in the crockpot. I’ve never tried stuffing them. Louis just got Netflix. He’s been watching it all weekend although he did laundry today. I watched a great Garth books special on PBS tonight. It was a nice diversion. I think this whole virus is going to push me into cooking more often that I care to do.

Barb, I don’t even want to talk about hair..I wasn’t due with until color on April 7 and then I don’t even want to think, about it! Yes, I’m bored Very much. I’m stAying up later just so I sleep later to pass the time. I was waking up too early. I worked in my office for awhile today. I’m getting ready to start working on my gift bags full of misc from Hawaii this week. It will take awhile to go thru those.

Mary, thank goodness you found the defective space heater! You don’t need one more thing to go wrong. Good job on getting all your meat. You sound set for awhile. M glad the Df gave you some pills that are helping. Hopefully Pt will give you some things you can do at home.

My nieces baby shower was postponed and now cancelled. It their first baby and she’s sad about everything. They also won’t let her husband go to her dr appt next week and it’s an ultra sound. Some hospitals are saying they can’t even go into delivery. She’s being tough but I know she’s upset.
It’s going to be like when we had kids and our husbands didn’t come into delivery.

Well, it’s 2:04am so I guess I can go to sleep now. I’m becoming a night owl again. Everyone be careful and stay safe. I have my nurse coming over again to care for my arm wound. Hopefully I will be released this week. Night

  11. Dianne, How scary for the whole family that your grandson tested positive for the virus. I pray he will get over it without having to go to a hospital.

  12. Barb..I recd a text from my dil today saying they heard today Tristan tested negative. Doesn’t make sense to me. I tried to call but no one returns my call. He’s fine now and they did a quarantine and he’s back to work. Whole family did one so I need to know what’s going On. Thanks for being concerned for him.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ok...I guess I misunderstood Todd. Tristan was sick and tested and they were waiting for test to come back. It came back yesterday negative. So sorry for reporting incorrect info. Everything seems so confusing.

I didn’t do much of anything today. I ordered groceries last night of just a few things I forgot. It’s the first time I’ve ever ordered groceries so will see how the pickup and order goes. My uncle is putting his groceries in the garage and wipes them down and leaves them a couple of days except refrig items obviously. He then brings them in and wipes them again. He’s very upset with us that we don’t do all that. We wash, use wipes, sanitizer but don’t leave them in garage. Do any of you do that with your groceries?

Hope you’re all well. What r u doing with your days? I have things to do and put them on calendar and move them from one day to another. My nurse comes tmrw I think for the last time. I hope.

Tmrw is April Fools Day. Guess no jokes to play this year. Btw, I had a Lean Cuisine Swedish meatballs tonight. It was actually pretty good

    ReplyDelete
  14. Dianne I'm glad to hear that Tristan did not have the Corona Virus. That must be a big relief for you and the rest of the family. I guess he just has the regular flu and that sucks, too. I hope he feels better soon.

No, I don't do all that wiping down of the groceries. I've decided I have to draw a line somewhere. I am wiping down the cart and when I go to the store on Thursday morning, I will be wearing a mask for the first time. I have a cloth mask with inserts that I bought when we were having all the fires and the air was really bad for my asthma. By the time the mask came in the mail, the air was better so I never used it. I am doing a lot of hand washing and stopping myself from touching my face.

As for activities, there aren't many. I'm lucky that I can go outside onto my deck or go on my front porch and talk a few minutes with the people across the street. I play a little with the dog and I am doing a jigsaw puzzle. I'm currently watching Mindhunter on Netflix.

  15. Barb I was very surprised today to get a call from my hairdresser asking if I wanted to keep my Friday appointment. My answer is no as I just can't risk it since I am in the high risk group because of age and COPD. I feel like if I got the virus, I would be one of the ones needing a ventilator and they have a shortage of those. It would be lovely to get my hair done, otherwise. The roots and the length are going to really bug me soon. Anyway, she is trying to do what she can since the owners of the building she is in expect their rent, no matter what. She says she is wearing a mask and gloves and sterilizes everything after she uses it. She also said the cops aren't saying anything to her about it, so far, even those hair dressing is not considered to be essential. I hope she's able to get by and not get sick.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mary OMG! I'm sure glad Matthew took care of that heater before there was a fire. Yikes!

I have a feeling you aren't cooking your stuffed pork chops long enough. I must simmer (braise?) them for two hours after I've browned them. You can cut them with a fork they are so tender, no knife required. They're definitely not juicy but that's remedied by the delicious gravy that you can make from the liquid in the pan. Yum!

I'm putting together a shopping list for my grocery run on Thursday. I will get up super early to be there around 6 when they open. I have a coupon for free french bread so I'll get some hamburger to make spaghetti with. I have everything else I need for that. I'm not desperate for TP but will get more if there is any on the shelves. So far, that seems to be an item in much demand. I do need to get more paper towels.

  17. Oh, I forgot to mention that a couple of days ago I ordered HoneyBaked hams for Easter. I ordered mini ones for my brother, myself, and my daughter and a larger one for my son and his family. They'll be delivered on the Friday before Easter. I'm looking forward to it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi...JL, I agree with you about there has to be a drawing the line too. I wiped my nine things down today after I brought home my groceries. It seemed kind of crazy wiping down a loaf of bread! I did online pick up at Kroger today. It went not good. As I mentioned, I only had nine items. Ordering and pick up went easy. We we picked up and delivery guy told us everything was there and no substitutes. WRONG! The only original items were fritos and garbage bags. Louis will now be eating two boxes of a Golden Grahams! I ordered a bag of a frozen Jimmy dean item and they gave me four boxes of jimmy dean bowls. I absolutely do not have room in my freezer for them. I talked Barb into taking them. I delivered them to her in a parking lot. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they told me as you have the opportunity of declining but obviously not when you take it home. Rye bread is now pumpernickel. I may try it one more time if I can enter no substitutions and I will be checking my order at the store. Personally, I think I’d rather just go. Tristan is well now thanks for your well wishes. So....you’re going to the store at 6am? You may as well just stay up all night. Lol. We’re kind of like you with tp. If they offer it, we take one. I’m really surprised your hairdresser is allowed to be practicing. I’m dreading not getting mine colored next week. How nice that you ordered those hams. I did t know they have a mini one. I just mentioned to Louis we need to do something good for dinner on Easter. That lobster I had from Red Lobster was pretty darn good a couple of weeks ago.

    Mary....Barb....what are you both doing?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi all!
I picked up a prescip . for Matthew today and picked up a few grosseries. We have most of the basics, just out of junk food for the guys lol! It's weird having them both home all the time! Today was in the low 70s so they worked on the yard and Jim lit up the sauna. Matthew keeps trying to organize Jim's side of the garage. He gets so frustrated when Jim doesn't put tools back where they belong. Sometimes I pick them up and throw them in a bucket just to keep them in one place. He has a large tool chest and all kinds of storage space. He has misplaced and replaced so many screwdrivers, hammers etc lol! The other day he was complaining that he couldn't find his new rake. I told him I bet I would go out there (garage) and find it in 10 sec. Took me 5 lol!
I made a baked chicken dinner. I swear it takes more time to make dinner then it takes to eat it, especially when you add in the clean up!

Justlin. I see I have not let my chops cook long enough. I will try again. I have some in the freezer.
After I get groceries home, I switch them from the store's plastic bags, to my regular reusable, wipe down a bit and bring them in. If I get a pkg from Amazon or UPS, I open them in the garage and throw the packaging away. Some look like they have been to hell and back lol! I am surprised at your hairdresser too. I think the hair police would arrest her here in Mich. We have a lot of busy bodies that would turn her in.

Dianne, it seems weird your not talking about your next trip! I am so glad your last cruise didn't give you the nasty virus, or worse, stuck on board!! When your roots start peeking and your nails look like hell I want pics lol. JK! We are all in the same boat!(pun intended)

Barb, My shoulder is ok as long as I don't do any major lifting. I do a lot of stretching in the morning. The meds he gave me are helping. Some days I have to take them twice. I keep forgetting to call PT to see if they can send me some exercises to do.
    Stay safe all!

  20. J/L, I watched the press conference today and it sounds like there are options for independent contractors, like hairdressers, manicurists, massage therapists and the like, to collect unemployment insurance and also get loans that won’t have to be paid back. Also, landlords are not supposed to be able to evict tenants for non or late payment. Sheehah and the stylists in her shop have all applied. I have stuff I can brush on my roots to color them and it washes out when I wash my hair, but I cannot style it. Plus the longer it gets, the harder it is to even curl the sides, which I can reach. I will have to tough it out!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dianne, what a relief that Tristan is negative for Covid 19. We have not done all that with our groceries, either. Chad had only gone to the grocery store once since we have been on shelter in place. Maybe if does have to go again, we’ll consider wiping down everything. We haven’t done that with a package we got nor with the mail.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mary, we used to have a great butcher shop near our house and we got great meat there. They also raised and butchered all of it. They closed shortly after my husband died, which was 27 years ago today. I have never found another place like it. Now I just get it at the grocery store.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Barb I believe my hairdresser knew about all that but the relief will not be enough nor will it arrive in a timely manner. She said when this is finally over, she will be working 7 days a week for quite a while to try to catch up. Of course, that depends on having clients to work on 7 days a week, too. I will find it interesting to see just how white my hair is now. Today would have been my normal hair appointment so there ought to be plenty of roots showing in a couple more weeks for me to get a good idea of what my real hair color is.

I worry about my little local family owned coffee shop being able to weather this storm. They were only open for breakfast and lunch in the first place. I liked going there with my Kindle and having breakfast or lunch while I read. It's the place where they all know my name and so it's kind of a social outlet for me. I suppose I'm saving a little money by only eating at home now.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Dianne Yesterday I got up at 5:00 in order to be at the grocery store by 6:00 when they opened. I took my Lysol wipes with me to wipe down my shopping cart and also wore my face mask for the first time. I got there a few minutes before the doors opened and I was about 20th in line to get in. I'd say they were only a couple of people who were not wearing masks. By the time I got in, my hot breath was escaping upward and fogging up my glasses. LOL I had to remove my glasses so I could see. Having to get up and out and functional has really worn me out. I think I'll just lay around and be lazy today. I did have them double bag my groceries and I unpacked them in the garage and tossed the bags. That's as far as I'm going. I did wash my hands well and I'll make sure to wash my mask and clothes before wearing them again. I try not to touch my face, even when I'm at home, but I was working on a puzzle last night and found myself resting my head on my hand. Oh, well.

Oh, I did make spaghetti last night, too, so I just have leftovers to heat up for dinner. I'm trying to cook things that make more than just one night's dinner. I bought Fritos, too. They will be the "bed" for a taco salad I'll be making in a couple of days.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mary As you know, you need some really thick pork chops in order to make a pocket and stuff them. Pork chops make the tastiest gravy. Yum!

LOL @ you finding Jim's rake quickly and easily when he couldn't. I wonder why women are so much better at spotting stuff like that. Perhaps it's because we were the "gatherers" so we had to be good at spotting the edibles. LOL

I've been having some discomfort with my left shoulder and left upper arm. Sometimes it gets better and then it's worse again. Carrying heavy grocery bags doesn't help. Also, it's my left arm that I put on the arm of the sofa to help hoist me up. LOL I'll probably continue on this better and worse cycle unless I put it in a sling to prevent me from using it at all. I don't think that's going to happen, though. Too inconvenient. I'm glad you have meds to make yours feel better but don't let that give you a false sense that's it's better than it really is or you will re-hurt it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Justlin I wondered about the "false sense" thing. I am getting better at not lifting heavy objects.
The therapist called today. We set up an appt. She said all things have been scrubbed down continuously. She also said I would be the only one in there. I am going on the 14th. I have an apptr. with my eye spec. next Wed. I was there a few weeks ago. The Dr. was over an hr behind! The 2nd waiting room was packed! I had some lady next to me coughing (in a Kleenex), & another sniffling . This was before the shut in thing. I left the room and paced their hallway, knowing I would be about 5th in line when I noticed the Dr just arriving! Someone asked if I was ok. I said no, "I would like to reschedule!" I had already had my eye pressure check and was waiting to see the Dr.
They rescheduled me to next week. We'll see h ow that goes. They may call to cancel.
We are ordering personal pizzas tonight. They cost a bit more, but tired of plain old pepperoni lol!

    ReplyDelete
  27. J/L, I’m sorry your arm is hurting again or still. I do know how that is. I’ve been washing my hair every other day since I haven’t been getting it done every week, and because my arms hurt, I blow dry it, but I can’t really style it. So, it is what it is! I can go a whole week without washing it when Steve styles it, but I can only stand two days when I just wash and dry it!
I am so lucky to have Chad here. He goes to the grocery store and is very good at shopping. He hasn’t been since March 16, but we have a lot in the freezer still. He ordered a full head mask from Amazon. It should be here Saturday. He will go shopping after it arrives. We only really need salad stuff but I’m pretty sure he’ll come home with ice cream, too!
I got a text from Kathy this morning. Her pup has been sick and diagnosed with lymphoma. This morning she was having trouble breathing and walking and they had to put her down. They are heartbroken. 😿

    ReplyDelete
  28. Mary, I had an appointment scheduled with my kidney doctor at the end of March, but they called and changed it to a phone appointment. They wanted me to get labs done before, but I didn’t really want to go in to the lab, so I asked if wasn’t urgent, could we reschedule. So now the appointment is in May. Not sure things are going to be much better by then, though.

  29. Dianne, My neighbor directly across from me has a really tall pine tree that I absolutely hate, because when the wind blows, even slightly, I get a yard full of pine needles. They discovered the tree is diseased and about 8am I was awakened to the sound of a wood chipper grinding up logs. They are taking the tree out! Yayyy The prior owner was going to have it taken out, but the estimate was $4,000 and since she was going to sell, she decided against it. The tree is HUGE! It towers over the two story house by 20 ft.

    ReplyDelete
  30. SacBarb, wow, that was some huge tree! When we moved here 40 some yrs ago we had a small, 5' beautiful mulberry tree close to our patio. Well, 20 yrs later it was huge and the birds were pooping purple poop all over the patio! The guy across the street was having his even bigger weeping willow cut down. I went over and asked them to do ours, and since they already had their equipment there, we got a fantastic deal and had the mulberry tree cut down. We lost a lot of shade and many beautiful birds who visited , but glad it was gone!
Are you talking about our Kathy(Zona)? Either way, sad!

I went to my first PT this week. She did some ultra-sound massage and iced it up. She said I should just leave it alone for now and let it heal. I have to use ice on the area twice a day. I will be getting more massages. After my 6 sessions, if not any better they will take some tests.
Drying my hair is the worst! My h air dryer is a bit heavy. My silver roots are proudly showing themselves lol!

We have been having wonderful weather here. Sad to say we are returning to cold days after today. There is a possibility of snow showers :(
Zoie and I have been going on walks. She loves it outside! I have a hard time getting her to come in from the patio. It is fenced in, but there have been many huge birds of prey flying around here lately. I can't take the chance that she could be grabbed!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi..yes mary, that is zona that Barb is talking about previously. She’s so sad. Her dog was 13 years old so a long time member of the family. She got sick really fast.

Mary, it was fun FaceTiming with you the other day. Loved looking around your yard, seeing Zoie, and from a distance..Jim working in the yard...and now you’ve met Louis. JL, I sure wish you had an iPhone. Mary, I’m going to set up a conversation with you and I and Barb in the next couple of days. When do you go to Pt? It’s supposed to have snow flurries here in the next few days too. It was a beautiful 72 today here.

Barb, that tree looked huge. I’ll bet you’re glad to have it gone. Send us a picture of that full face mask. I hope they won’t think he’s a robber at the store. Tell him to be careful. I tried ordering groceries online again the other day. No substitutions but quite a bit missing even from my list. I ended up putting my mask on and going after our pickup. I don’t think I’m trying that again for awhile. It’s not my most successful Thing! I think Ice cream is an essential item. I still go for Louis’s Starbucks to get out. I wipe the cups down in the car, my hands, steering wheel, etc.

JL, have you recovered from your 5am wake up call the other day? I slept 3/4 of yesterday. I think I get bored and depressed so I just sleep and then feel worse. I guess that’s why I make that Starbucks run. Louis is fine without it but it makes me get cleaned up and dressed. I have this week washed my clothes after store. I’ll probably make a run once a week to store for milk and a few things...with my mask.

It’s all so scary. Tonight they are showing a 45 year old dad that got the flu and a false negative. He died of the virus.

Well, on that cheerful note...everyone stay safe....which I know we are...love you all.

  32. Well, I just caved. After watching the news... I’ve decided to try one more pickup. I get them Monday afternoon. We shall see if my nerves will be tested again! We are picking up take out for Easter and taking an order to my brothers nursing home front door to be delivered to him. He can’t have any visitors so we will go to his window and wave. They won’t even let his wife visit. Ok....that’s my midnight news!

  33. Mary, yes I was talking about Zona. My heart hurts for her. Since she doesn’t work outside the house, she and Nikki dog were home all day while her hubby was at work. Sometimes he worked long hours. Like Dianne said, Nikki was 13 years old.

  34. Dianne, They worked on that tree about 8 hours today and they will be back tomorrow to finish. A lot of the neighbors were out watching. It is the best entertainment we’ve had in a month. I’ve alternated between reading and watching TV and doing some housework so I was glad to have a distraction.

  35. J/L, I think that Bachelor music show starts next week. I’ll watch the first one and see how it is.

  37. I had my first ever Dr/patient call today. I was told yesterday to expect his call this morning. It was weird and cool at the same time. We are putting off any in office procedures until May or later depending on the pandemic. He is making sure my pharmacy has my prescriptions up to date. He apologized for the last visit. I told him that I understood Drs get behind, but the crowded waiting room with patients coughing and sniffling made me nervous. He said I made a wise decision on rescheduling.

Dianne. I see I have a piece of mail coming from you today. I signed up for "USPS informed delivery". I can see in advance what mail or packages I have coming. I see the actual envelopes on line. It doesn't cost anything to sign up.
Our mail doesn't come until 2 or 3:00. It's a bit of a walk to our mail box. Jim usually gets it, so it does save him steps. His breathing is terrible. I watch his chest sometimes and see how his breathing is. I feel bad.... until he gets up and goes outside to smoke! I try not to nag, because it never helps.
My cousin made me some masks and mailed them Monday via express mail. It's Fri. and their are still not here. It took 6 days the last time she sent some. They have to travel a whole 80 mikes! Dianne's mail from Denver will be it!

I have PT today at 4:00. I will use this trip to pick up stuff for our Easter dinner. We usually go to Raquel's :( I miss little Myla! Her Mom sends us cute videos and pics :)

  39. Mary I'm having trouble typing with these acrylic covered finger nails that have grown too long and the acrylic is lifting up. Pretty soon I may have to Google how to remove them. I just corrected a typo when I saw that I had typed Goggle instead of Google. LOL

I had to go to the post office today and than I went to the hardware store to pick up wild bird seed that I had ordered. I know it's not exactly essential to feed the birds but, oh well. It's a small pleasure to watch the birds. Anyway, on the drive between the post office and the hardware store, I saw that a lot of surfers were practicing social distancing out on the waves. The beach parking lots are closed but the surfers just park on nearby streets. I guess they aren't supposed to be out there but they can't be too close to each other out of necessity. When I returned from running my errands, I saw that my HoneyBaked ham had been delivered. That will be my Easter dinner. Not sure what I'm having with it but I think it will be mashed potatoes, candied yams, fresh green beans, and black olives. I bought a frozen cherry pie to make for dessert and have vanilla ice cream to have with it. I don't know why but cherry pie has been on my mind lately. I haven't had it in years and years. My mom used to make a really good one.

How did you PT appointment go?

  40. Barb I feel so bad for Kathy and Randy. It's so hard to lose a pet and Nikki was very much a family member. I can't even think about losing Ursula without tears springing to my eyes.

I've definitely been watching a lot of TV and am very glad my daughter put me on her Netflix account and got me on Hulu. I've been watching Netflix a lot, lately. I'm very much into the show, "Ozark", which stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. I'm having to pace myself on watching the current season's episodes because I'm very worried about what might happen to these characters. As if real life wasn't stressful enough, lately. Geez!

I will be giving the singing Bachelor spin-off show a try. I believe it starts this coming Monday night. I'll be in touch.

  41. Dianne I did recover from that shopping trip but that was a week ago and I did it all again yesterday morning. I got up at 5 and got to the store about 5:50 and waiting outside in line with my cart until they opened at 6:00. Then they allowed in the first 20 in line and I was number 22. I had to wait until 2 people left before I was allowed in. I appreciate that these early hours on Tues and Thurs are for us folks that are at higher risk and it is nice that there are relatively few people in there at a time but the downside is that some things have not been restocked yet at that early hour. I got the very last head of iceberg lettuce. On the upside, I was able to get everything else on my list. Check out took some time as the checkers were totally disinfecting the conveyor belt and entire checkout counter between customers. The grocery store and the two places I went today (post office and hardware store) all have plexi-glass shields at checkout counters. This is the new normal and it feels creepy.

Do you have any area at your place where you can step outside? Sometimes I just need to step outside.

Thank you for the Easter card.

  42. Dianne, thanks for the pretty card. You are so sweet! It sure was nice seeing you "live" on my tablet :) Loved seeing Louis! Now that Jim has plowed up the garden, it decided to snow! The snow was bad enough, but the high winds made it even more miserable! We have at least 2 more weeks of cold weather.
Many are super mad at our Governor! She has added mo4re things for us to distance us from. The two getting the most criticism are, not allowing our garden centers to open and not letting people buy things such as paint & lumber to do projects. Oh, and not allowing landscapers to work. If we were in the worst hit area like Detroit, it would be understandable. Most areas hit the worst I notice are "port of entries"/large airports.

JustLin, I bought a 40lb bag of sun flower seed. I love watching the birds. Speaking of birds.
Plain old turkey here for Thanksgiving. We don't do much pork. My BIL keeps sneaking over here lol! I feel bad for him since his wife, Jim's sis, passed. He gets very lonely.
I forgot all about gals nails! I was only thinking of hair lol. I also didn't think about the guys! They can get pretty shaggy too!

Barb,I am glad you have been getting some "tree" entertainment lol!
I am glad Chad is there for you. I am sure he is glad too! Of course ice cream is ESSENTIAL! LOL!!

I forget who asked and am too lazy to scroll..
    About my therapy.
It went ok. I am still pretty tender, so she is going easy on me. I had a pain patch put on. It has to stay on for 13 hrs. They put some kind of med in it. I have to get a prescription and take it back to the PT peeps so they can keep it and put more in the patches.
It's sad to see the place so empty. They have had to let most of the therapists go. They hardly have any clients. Too many scared to go to their Drs and many surgeries have been postponed, hence, no PT.
