  2. Hello…I’m here Mary number 3! Where r owl friends? I don’t like it when it gets this quiet. How r you doing? We moved our vacation up a day to not rush so much so we leave on the 20th. I’m starting to look forward to it just not the packing. We have signed up for a fan club breakfast that Friday. Since we. CHanged our plans I tried to sign up gor the dinner but they r booked so I signed up for another show. I wish we could stay in Branson longer. My cousins wanted to go to the titanic display. We saw it years ago but don’t remember all of it and they wanted to go so we r going with them. The tour guy told me it was really hot and humid there today. Yuck. I was on the phone all morning juggling hotel reservations for just one night plus getting us signed up,for another show. We leave gor Louisville the following Monday , the 27th. I got some new Texas tenors shirts made for me. I bought the shirts and then a lady we know put the names on the shirts. They turned out nice Louis went hunting Wednesday and fell down five times. My grandson heard him yelling for help and got to him. He hurt his right side of ribs. Went to dr yesterday and he said nothing broken but very bruised. Gave him pain pills but not helping much. I felt bad for him as he was so excited to go after 40 years and so disappointed in himself. He’s lost 59 pounds for this day too. He walks inside the mall, gor like eight miles.

Barb, JL, seaside…time to check in. Finally got Tina y
    To change blog…she had forgotten.

  3. Dianne Your trip is coming up pretty soon, now. How fun for you. You mean you don't have packing down to a science, at this point?

Oh, I feel so bad for Louise that he fell so many times when out hunting. I imagine there's even more bruising to his ego than there is on his body, poor guy. Congrats to him for losing 59 pounds, though. That's real dedication and he should be proud of that.

I got my MRI results and it seems the lesion on my kidney that they saw on the ultrasound is just a cyst so that's good news for me. I tried not to be too worried while I waited for results, but it was there in the back of my mind. I must say, being in an MRI machine that was a little larger than the first one and also being on an anti-anxiety drug, made all the difference. I had almost as much anxiety about the MRI machine as I had about the results. LOL

  4. Mary Well, I've agreed to pet sit the little dachshund that lives up the street, again. I'll just be watching him for a few days over the weekend. Unfortunately, he's currently being treated for pancreatitis but seems to be doing well. I am making sure to have his recent lab work and treatment plan records just in case I have to take him to an emergency vet. Here's hoping that won't happen. (Knocking on wood.)

I saw on the group text about your rashes and am so glad you have medication for that now. I hope it's much better than it was. That must have been sooo uncomfortable.

I got my hair cut last week. I told my hairdresser that she had left it a little too long on my neck last time so this time she overcompensated and cut it up a little too high. When will I learn? LOL It will probably be perfect when I go back at the end of the month. I am picky, though, about my hair and I admit to that.

  5. Barb Good for you for fixing your label maker. It's very satisfying to repair something that was working, isn't it? The other day I went to remove a lid off of a saucepan that I had just cooked some veggies in, and the knob type handle broke in half. Even the screw that was inside of the knob, broke in half. There was no way to repair it so I ordered a replacement lid which just arrived today. Amazon to the rescue!

A few days ago, I was informed by my neighbor across the street that the remains of a kitty were found on that side of the street. It was the victim of a coyote. The coyote must have brought it here from another street because I've never seen a kitty around here with the deceased kitty's description. The neighbor who told me about it lives on the side of the street with a hillside behind him. He said he saw a coyote the other day up there just lying on a tree stump and looking around. Casual as you please. I really wish my neighbors a few doors down would keep their cats indoors. When I have the dachshund with me this weekend, I'll be extra alert when I take him out front for his last pee of the night at around 10 p.m.

Do you think you'll have Karina's granddaughter do a portrait of your kitties? She sure does beautiful work.

  6. Seaside I miss seeing your posts in here. I hope all is well in your world.

  7. Dianne, I forgot that your trip was happening soon. It sounds like it will be lots of fun. Does the venue have COVID protocols in place. I received our Broadway theater tickets this week and there was a two page letter included with COVID protocols. It looks like they are taking every precaution. They will require masks, proof of vaccination or negative COVID test within the past 72 hours, and picture ID. We also have to arrive 45 minutes early to allow staff to check all that. I’m happy they are thinking about the safety of the patrons and the staff. Our first show is Hamilton on September 16. There will be four of us this season, Jen, Jenn, Sharon and I, and we are all very excited about seeing it.

JL, How nice of you to take care of your friend’s dog. It will be company for you, too.
Bachelor in Paradise has really become a s*!t show! There’s a lot of chatter on FB about the VIP party and also Brendan and Pieper. Next week we’ll probably be seeing them leave.
I’m thinking of having Karina’s granddaughter do a painting of my kitties. I need to find out how much it will cost. She really is talented.
Now that you have had the second MRI experience, you can be sure to do it the same way if you have to have more MRI’s. It won’t be so traumatizing.

  8. Mary, congrats on being #1. How’s things in your world? Is that mess from the tree finally gone from your backyard? You guys have had some bad weather. I hope your generator is holding up. My grandson and his wife went to visit her parents in Seattle for the Labor Day weekend and on the way back to Sac they stopped at a casino to play some penny slots. Allie hit a jackpot for $15,000. She was pretty excited! I’m excited for them. I never have any luck at all at the casinos. I just set my limit to lose and if I can keep playing for a couple of hours on that, I consider it my entertainment fee!

  9. SacBarb, I am going to ask Karina's Niece to do Zoie for me. She would like at least 3 or 4 different poses.
    For water color- 7x10 $65.00, 9x12 $85, 11x15 $110.
Not sure what acrylic prices are.
Our bad weather has finally settled down, thank goodness. We are getting cold nights now. I am not ready for what's coming!
Jim is still working on the trees. I think I like it. It keeps him busy and feeling useful, plus, out of my way lol!!

  10. JustLin, Is the Doxie long or short haired? Mini or standard? Sorry about the pancreatitis. I wonder if they have been feeding people food? Is he a cuddler? I am being nosy lol. I love Doxies.
My rash is mostly gone and just a bit of "itchiness." I really hated that I had to take meds! Messed up my intermittent fasting schedule because I had to take meds with food. I am back on the IF wagon lol! My tummy did not like all that food!
Let me tell you about MY hair! I asked to have the burgundy out because it was fading. Told her, and showed her a wig with the color I wanted, kind of a med auburn. Well, she was all upset about her teenage daughter running away and didn't concentrate on my hair color. I now have a black head of hair! I am kind of getting used to it since it is my natural color. I just have not seen it like that in ages! Wouldn't be bad if it had a few high-lites or some different shades in there. Just too black!

Seaside, Where are you and Gidget?? Hope you are taking it easy and keeping cool!

  11. Dianne, I am sorry I won't be meeting you and Bev. But there are just too many things that could go wrong for me to make any kind of reservations. I worry you or Louis may have to change plans due to health issues. Also Bev said she has been having allergy/sinus issues. She told me I would have to sleep in her spare bedroom with kitty litter lol!! I want to see all of my owls so bad! I hope next year will be better. I hope you are not mad at me Dianne :(

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mary, I could never be mad at you. I will miss seeing you though. I’m sure hoping Louis and I will be okay. We’re looking forward to going and moved up our day of leaving. We will leave on the 20th to Branson and then Louisville. We will be home Oct 4th. I have made plans for every day we are in Louisville. Actually Louis’s daughter lives across the river in Indiana. We’re going to tea one day in Indianapolis. Tour of old firetruck museum, Indy 500 museum for Louis, candy shop tour and lunch, gambling one afternoon, lunch with Bev, a big art/ craft show that one daughter picked, which I will love. I have to find things to do or we will sit in hotel room and as you all know that’s not me! I have us busy and it wasn’t easy finding things to do. I’m not looking forward to winter either. It’s 98 tmrw..whew. I just hope the humidity isn’t terrible on this trip.

Barb, I’m not sure about the covid rules in Branson. I know we will be wearing our masks going in and out of shows the good part about handicap is we aren’t around many people. We’re going to Texas tenors shows and a breakfast. My cousins from Texas are meeting us in Branson. I think the venues will be requiring masks personally. That would be fun to have a picture painted of your kitties. You too Mary of Zoie. Barb, how thrilling for your grandsons wife! Wow I’d be beyond thrilled. Glad you’re getting to go back to the theater again. Barb, is your family coming to visit?

JL, very nice of you To watch your neighbors dog for them. It will be nice company for you. So glad your mri came back good for you. Thedwaiying is always so scary. I have to have one next week for pain dr. I haven’t had one of those since 2019 so he wants to look things over again to see if more back shots will help. I’m not looking forward to it much. Seems like lots of dr appts this week and next week before we go. I hope it fits me. I had to tell them height and weight so hopefully that will work. Went to heart nurse this week and I’d gained three pounds in a month. I’m watching my food intake, riding my bike three times a week per heart rehab…so frustrating. Will they just leave the cyst alone? Any plans of going to see your daughter for a little trip?

Seaside ..where the heck r you? Missing you

    ReplyDelete
  13. Barb, $15,000 wow, I would be thrilled. I too thing "breaking even" is a win lol!

Dianne. You will sure be busy on your trip. Does Louis mind all that? I know Jim would hate it! He is no fun at all.

I was going to meet a dear sweet elderly lady friend of mine for lunch today in my home town of Ithaca. He daughter emailed me last night and told me she would not be
able to make it because she had would be getting out of the hospital today. She is the Lady that wrote about my family. She loves writing about all the local immigrants.
Her and her hubby, are my favorite to visit. They live on a big farm, but rent most of it out now. They have a rich history in the Gratiot County area where I am from.

Yesterday Matthew and I replaced our old security cameras with new wireless. I will be seeing my Chiro today lol! There have been a rash of break ins especially in the rural areas. So far only items (big & small) have been stolen and no one has been hurt other than financially. Hard to believe, even horses and large farm trailers and campers have been taken@. Crazy!

Have a great week end all. Love yah!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. BTW, I also have the cameras to keep an eye out on Jim. I worry when I can't find him lol! Unfortunately today I spotted him pissing in the lawn lol! Men!!

  15. Mary LOL! Sometimes it's better not to know what someone is up to.

  16. Can you believe I got food poising yesterday? I was enjoying a day of shopping and treated myself to lunch. I had a chicken salad, fresh fruit cup and a drink. I got in my car headed for home and bam! my gut started cramping big time! I looked for the nearest gas station. I found one that was empty and very clean. Thank goodness no one else needed to go while I was in there! I drove straight home. I was going to pick up a few groceries, no way! I curled up in bed and did the "back yard trots" for a few hrs. Jim got me some Ginger ale I usually have it on hand. It helped thank goodness! My tummy is still mad at me lol! A bit tender, but I will survive!
I did call the restaurant and told them the fruit may have been contaminated. Not sure if they did anything about it. At least I warned them.

I got into my first size 8 Levis! I realize they have a bit of stretch to them, but still :)

  17. "Poisoning" spell check you failed me lol!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Mary, I feel for you about the food poisoning. I first thought that was my problem back in August until it didn’t go away. I always have Imodium and ginger ale on hand. My bruises from the IV’s in the hospital are still visible. One is almost gone, one is just an outline and the third one is still dark purple. It’s been four weeks that I’ve been home and never have the bruises lasted this long.
I LOL’d at your comment about the yard keeping Jim busy. My Dad had a big garden (picture The Godfather) and my Mom was happy that kept him busy. It was a typical Italian garden with grape vines covering part of it and the obligatory fig tree. I also loved that he had it, because we were the recipients of some of the harvest. The tomatoes were so good. He had a few different varieties. The store tomatoes just don’t taste as good.

Dianne, I’m glad to hear you are planning to wear masks when you’re in a crowd. You will be very busy with all that you have planned. I’m not sure if the in-laws are still coming on the 19th. I have decided to go with Dean and Deb to the family reunion on Oct 2. Todd and Vicki will be driving up to Paso Robles from San Diego. Chad is staying home with the cats.

Seaside, I hope all is well with you and Gidget.

    ReplyDelete
  19. SacBarb. I think as we age our skin is thinner and bruises from needles don't heal so very quickly. I know the veins on my hands are more ugly prominent lol!
Your father's garden sounds heavenly! I envy anyone who can grow a good grape!
My tomatoes are about done. I will miss running out to the garden to get fresh tomatoes, basil cukes and Zukes! I have to dry my basil pretty soon.

I am feeling better today. I am heading to the big city to return an item...the only one I didn't try on lol! It is a long sleeve top . It looked about right so I took it. I know better! Oh well. I won't be stopping at a restaurant lol!

  20. All done packing…yea for me….I’ll be back

    ReplyDelete
  21. yeah Dianne!! Be safe & enjoy! Don't forget to check in!

This has been one crazy week! My car wouldn't start Thurs., so Jim jumped it and off I went to get a new battery. Got that done and headed for home. my a/c wouldn't kick in, my radio died and my start/stop thingy quit. I made it home and had Matthew check it out. Seems the old duffer that put my battery in damaged one of my sensors. Matthew had a different parts store order the new part. It was there in a couple of hrs. Jim had to go 24 miles for it. Jim felt sorry for me & payed for it because I had already spent $200 on the battery. Matthew put the new part in and everything is working as it should.
I took the receipt, the old part, and a pic of the "before and after" area. The guy checked something on line, and handed me the $89 Jim had paid. Whew!

Yesterday I told the men they were allowed one shower before today and no more until Sunday lol! I removed the old ugly caulking around the tub made sure all was dry, vacuumed & cleaned the area. I cussed a bit because the caulking gun wouldn't push the stuff out! I didn't even bother asking the guys after all they went through with my Jeep lol! Besides, football was on!
I drove to the nearest hardware store and had the guy fix it for me. Long story long... Mess and all, I got-r-done!
I did have a relaxing 2 hrs last night, listening to our friend play with his band.
He is the same age as Jim, 77 and sure is a ball of fire :) They played all the old rock & roll music with a bit of country.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mary, I envy you for all the energy you have. I get winded just cleaning the cat’s litter box! My kitties like to watch me clean it and of course, one of the has to get in immediately and poop or pee! It makes me laugh because it reminds me of my Mom saying as soon as she finishes cleaning the house, my Dad would do something to mess it up!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Dianne, Have fun but please be safe. I worry about you and Louis being in a crowd of people who may not be vaccinated. My friends and I went to see Hamilton on Thursday and everyone had to show ID and proof of vaccination or having a negative COVID test within the prior 72 hours, plus wear a mask for the whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  24. JL, well, I am having overnight company on Monday, so I may not be watching BIP. My SIL called and I just couldn’t say “no” to spending the night. They will be here around noon. Chad is going to cook Tri Tip for dinner.
It looks like the Bachelorette is going to air on Tuesday nights for the new season. I saw a show previewing some of the new season shows and I heard it on that show.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Barb I hope you are enjoying catching up with your visitors. I'll miss your input on tonight's DWTS but look forward to sharing insights on the dumpster fire that is Bachelor in Paradise tomorrow night.

Kaiser started their annual flu shot clinic today so I went and got my shot. It was a drive-thru clinic and I didn't have to wait behind anyone. I don't think too many people knew it was starting. I'm hoping we'll know soon about COVID boosters but I'll be giving my arm a little rest before I do that, anyway.

I didn't do much today besides getting my flu shot. I did wash a load of towels and my bed sheets. I've gotten lazy about the bed sheets. I strip the bed, wash the sheets, and put them back on the bed instead of getting out a different set. I have a king size bed and folding that fitted sheet is a real pain in the butt.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mary Oh, my! I would have been so annoyed at the "old duffer" that screwed up the sensor in your car. Obviously, he has no idea what he's doing with the newer cars. I'm glad it is fixed now and that you got reimbursed for your cost to fix his mistake.

You definitely deserved a night out after all that work you did caulking around the bathtub. Did the guys rush to take showers yesterday when they were allowed to? LOL BTW, I love the old rock and roll stuff.

The other day, I watched a young black squirrel hide a peanut in a potted plant on my deck. Unfortunately, a Scrub Jay saw him do it, too, and as soon as the squirrel left, the jay hopped up into the pot and took the peanut! What a jerk! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dianne The little dog, Mickie, is no trouble at all and it was kind of nice to have the company. Besides, I watched him from Saturday noon to Monday dinnertime and I got paid $150. Easy money for me and the owner feels grateful that he is in a home with me and not at a kennel or left alone at home with periodic visits from her next door neighbor.

I suppose you are off on your trip now. Have fun and be careful!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Justlin. Naughty black squirrel! We had a huge berry tree cut down many years ago because of all the red colored poop on our deck lol! Anyway.. I asked the guy to leave me a 4ft stump so I could use as a stand for my shepherd's hooks for my feeders. The stump has many grooves and niches . I put sunflower seeds in them for my nuthatches. Well my greedy over-stuffed chipmunks find them, even though I put plenty on the stump and ground! I throw seeds on the ground mostly for my morning doves.

I am taking a break from making the "Tues, tacos". Lettuce & cheese have been shredded. Tomatoes & onions diced.Spanish rice & meat are done. Table set. I do the crispy shells just before eating time.

Jim has gone to the Casino, so he is out of my way lol.
Laundry almost done and Queenie & Zoie have been walked.
I did a "demo" job on an old office desk so I can put in tomorrow's trash bin.
I heavily hinted to Jim to have two pieces cut down a week ago, but I am sure they would be there all winter lol! I did the last demo/desk, last week. Just a few parts left to put in the dumpster. I don't want to over load it.

I will be getting my flu shot next week. I don't think I want the booster to the COVID. Jim probably should.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Dianne, I hope you’re having a good time on your trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

JL, I plan to get the booster COVID vax when it’s available. I hadn’t thought about a flu shot until you mentioned it. I’m going to check Kaiser’s web site for the facilities and times. Hopefully they will have the drive up here, too.
I used to have about 10 sets of sheets for my queen bed and I got rid of all but three sets. I needed space in my linen closet and I really didn’t need that many sheets. I often just put the same set back on the bed, too, instead of folding them. They are really a pain to fold and since my fibromyalgia is getting worse, it’s really hard for me to fold them.

Mary, so by demo, do you mean you’re taking the desk apart to put in the trash? That’s got to be quite a big job! I usually just call one of the charities to pick up furniture I want to get rid of.
Chad worked really hard on the front flower beds in early summer. We got $250 worth of bulbs and plants and he got them all planted, then put Preen in the soil to deter the weeds and mulch on top of that. Well, things started to grow that looked like weeds, but they also could have been the flowers, so we weren’t going to pull them until we were sure. Now we know they are weeds, called nut grass, and they all germinated from the mulch! Chad is really upset. He has researched how to kill it and if we pull the weeds, the root leaves a “nut” in the ground and it will come right back up. Spraying them will kill the plants, too. He may have to take up all the mulch, dig up the bulbs and plants, and then spray. I won’t be able to help him. He is NOT a happy camper.

    ReplyDelete
  30. SacBarb, yes I tore them apart. They were not salvageable after taking them out of my room. I used them for a while in the garage to store stuff. I no longer store things. I figure if I haven't used it in 2 yrs, it's gottah go lol!
I have never heard of "nut grass". Was the mulch supposed to only be used on the lawn?

Dianne, are you on your way? Safe travels! Keep us posted. I see Judy is on her way to Nashville. That's one place I would love to visit.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hi guys……I’m in Indiana/Louisville, Ky. We had a simply great time in Branson with judy and gordon..my tx cousins. We had a few mishaps. We went to timevshare that I had reservations since Jan and had called three times to confirm I had a handicap room. We were checking in and nope I didn’t have one and none available. I was not happy. We spoke with mgr and they r now owned by Marriott so found a residence two bedroom for us. The good part was that they paid for everything for the four of us and gave me my timeshare points back. The Texas tenors we’re fabulous. The ttt breakfast with 104 people there was so fun and then the guys showed up. They each went to each table for about 15 min and just talked with us. We all did pictures too. We saw a lot of other great shows. Me at sight and sound…Jesus. It’s amazing how they do it. The effects,,water, real, horses, camels, etc. coming down the aisles. We saw the Christmas story two years ago. The only thing that happened there was gordon was pushing me. It was a huge slope when u came in lobby. He thought I had put my feet down to go in gift shop and I thought he was pushing. I went huge fast alone down that slope. I never knew he wasn’t pushing. I almost hit a man that was able to stop me right in front of a huge desk/wall and gordon ran and caught the chair. It could have been a horrible accident. The man was an angel and hood thing I was at the Jesus venue as I think it helped too. We went to Paula Deans restaurant…yummy. It was just fun. We are. Ow visiting Louis’s daughters. I’m going to lunch with Bev on Friday and then tmrw Indianapolis for tea and the Baltimore stadium to see Peyton Manning’s statue. We leave for home sat. I’m having a nice time but got a little choked up.saying good by to my cousins and Branson. I just wanted to check in as I’m on my way to bed. Big time change for us here. I’ll catch up in the next day or two. Night

  32. Mary, I have never heard of nut grass either, but Chad did some research and got the info. He got the mulch at Home Depot and it’s for gardens. I never knew mulch could cause this kind of problem. Our yard was so pretty when he was finished and now it’s just a weed bed. 😩

    ReplyDelete
  33. Dianne, OMG, I’m so glad you didn’t actually crash into anything. I hope your cousin was more careful after that!
When Linda, Lynn, Sharon and I went to Bear’s retirement party in Palm Springs, I asked for a room on the first floor because they didn’t have an elevator. This was with my time share, but at The Days Inn, because that was the only property Wyndham had in PS at the time. When we got there, our room was on the second floor and they didn’t have anything on the first floor to accommodate four people. So, we had to use the stairs every time we went out. That was at a time when my knees were really bad. I was very unhappy with the place because they the whole experience was terrible. Other things went wrong, and they didn’t seem to care. I filed a complaint with Wyndham, but nothing ever came of it! I’m happy for you that it was paid for and you got your points back.
It sounds like you had a great time

  35. Bebbi!! Good seeing you in the nest! Stay off the bottom branch. Some of us have tummy issues lol!!
Glad you got to see Dianne. I wish I could have been there. It just wasn't possible with all the Jim issues.

Jim saw his Dr this Friday. I knew he didn't want me to go with him because he knows I would rat him out lol! I ratted him out anyway. I sent his Dr a message on his Medical website. He never gets on it. I use it to check his test results and send Dr updates on Jim. He won't admit to losing his hearing. It has gotten very bad! Dr is sending him to an ear specialist. Wouldn't go on my advice. His short term memory is also bad. He gets confused a lot. He was indignant when the Dr brought up "Dementia". His sister had it before she passed. It wasn't a bad case, but it was frustrating for her.

  36. Mary I just got my COVID booster shot a few hours ago. I highly recommend you get one, too. Why wouldn't you? We ladies of a certain age should get as much protection as we can get. That's my opinion, anyway. Jim, too, of course.

I have a rather comical image of you in my head of you whacking away at that desk. I guess that's one way to get your aggressions out. LOL

I haven't made tacos since my kids lived here. I love a good crunchy taco. Between, heating up leftovers, being invited to a friend's house for dinner, and ordering dinner for pick up or delivery, I've actually cooked dinner since Tuesday. I can get used to that. LOL

In the morning, I go out on the back deck to put fresh water out for the birds and squirrels and I look back over the roof of my house to where I can see a utility pole that's in front by my driveway, and there, on top, sits a raven waiting for me to bring out the peanuts. Once I put out the birdseed, I put a bunch of peanuts out for the squirrels and then start lining peanuts up on the deck railing. This is what the raven is waiting for and he comes swooping down to get some. He'll let me be within about 5-6 feet of him now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bebbi Well, that's a nice surprise to see you pop in here. You should visit more often. Speaking of visiting, that was a really cute pic of you and Dianne. I'm glad you were able to meet up for a face to face visit. Fun times.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dianne I don't have a timeshare but I don't understand how they allow you to reserve a room for particular needs and then don't really have it for you. How maddening! I'm really glad they made it up to you. And you got your points back! Have you already made plans on how to use them?

That must have been scary to be in a run-away chair! I'm glad that gentleman was able to stop you and you didn't run into him or anything else. You really could have been hurt. I guess Gordon learned a lesson. It sounds like you've been having a really fun time. Good for you. I guess you've started traveling home now. Safe travels!

  39. I’m getting my hair did today. Sitting in the chair now. I told her I hated the black she gave me last time. Hope she can lighten it up without my losing more hair!
It has raining like crazy here . I worked outside yesterday anyway. I really needed to transplant a few things.
I used my “ little red wagon to haul 8 40lb bags of top soil and mulch. I could only put two bags in at a time or my wagon probably collapse lol! I was soaked to the bone when I was done.

  40. Our internet has been wonky and the reg antenna is messed up too. I know it is super cloudy, so that could be a problem.
I have not been able to get into FB for a couple of hours. Crazy day!
My hair came out much better! Glad the "black" is gone. It was just too harsh for me.
It has been raining off & on all day. I need to clean up my garden. I have no desire to do another "wet t-shirt" gig lol!!
    Have a great week all!!

  41. Mary Facebook is down for everybody.

Glad you like your hair color better now. I think true black is too harsh for anybody and everybody.

  44. Hi Bev. Good to see you in the nest. I watched the video of your son that you posted. He did a great job. He sure is a handsome guy!

  45. Dianne, are you rested up and unpacked?
I loved all the pics with you and the TT! They are so handsome :)
I just finished putting a new tarp on Queenie's kennel. It only took me an hr this time. I'm getting pretty good lol! Love who ever invented those tie down zip-strips! Jim made an attempt to help, but I could tell he was not up to it. He had just walked Queenie and used up most of his energy. He is still huffing & puffing and I am barely breathing hard.
It is going to be close to 80* today. Pretty warm for us in Oct. I'm pretty sure that will come to an end soon :(

  46. Hi….well Mary, I finally got suitcase unpacked tonight. We got the laundry done over the weekend. I sure don’t like all the work getting ready or getting home from vacation. Plus I wasn’t ready to come home…I never am. We had a great time. My most fun was of course in Branson with my cousin and husband. The four of us get along so well. Gordon pushed me everywhere in my travel chair. He was so sweet to do that for us. We were able to fit chair and walker in car so that helped me a lot. I used the walker in the hotels. I made all our reservations in January and confirmed them all not long ago. Not one single hotel had our handicap with a roll in shower. Not a one. The last night in hays, Ks, they waved our fee and we finally got one at the Hilton. I specify a roll in shower with every reservation. Gripes me especially the time share. We had a nice time with Louis’s daughters. We went to a small candy shop tour, ate at soda fountain and all bought candy. We then went to a fire dept museum. It was very interesting. The four of us were the only ones on both tours. Wednesday we went to a kY art and craft show all made by KY people. I picked up some Christmas presents. Ate an Italian place and drove two hours back to hotel. Thursday we went to Indianapolis for a great tea lunch. We went to their stadium afterwards to get that picture of Peyton
And then another two hour drive. We put on 3400 miles. Friday was lunch with Bev and then Louis, the girls and I went to a casino. Louis broke even and I lost $198. It was a non smoking huge fun casino. We had dinner in the grill there. We left sat am for home. It took us 2-1/2 days to get there. We had perfect weather and no humidity! It was great to see Bev again and catch up. We missed you Mary.

Louis had issues walking with his hip and knee. We went to pain dr last week. I’m going to get more back shots and I think Louis will be getting a new hip. He had X-rays and we see the hip dr tmrw. I want him to go to rehab for a week or two afterwards and he’s against it. I really can’t take full time care of him with my lack of mobility.

Barb, I would have moved to another hotel if I had to walk up steps. It’s bad enough that the handicap rooms are on another floor all the way at the end of hall. I still have a mess in the kitchen with shopping bags everywhere. I love the gift shops. I’ll see if I can get blog changed from sept.

  47. Dianne, well, your trip sounds like it was really fun, except for the non-handicapped showers. I bet you’re tired after all that time in the car.
I ended up riding to the family reunion in Paso Robles with my grandson Josh and his wife, Allie because Dean and his wife didn’t go. Deb took him to the ER the week before because he was having chest pains. He had a mild heart attack and ended up having a stent placed in a blocked artery. He was in the hospital for the weekend and off work a week. He seems to be doing OK now. The reunion was fun with only 18 people there. We left Sac at 8am and returned home at about 8 pm. I was happy Todd and Vicki drove up from San Diego. They staying overnight at a hotel in San Luis Obispo, which is about 30 miles from Paso, because all the places in Paso were about $300 per night. Their room in SLO was only $129.

Mary, You work so hard to keep your animals comfortable and happy. Does Zoie ever stay in there with Queenie? We have finally gotten some cooler weather here, but it’s going to be back in the high 80s until Wednesday.
Has Jim gone back to the doctor to have his breathing checked lately? I’m sure his smoking doesn’t help.

JL, well, BIP is over and the Bachelorette starts on Tuesday. I’m ready for more drama.
Chad and I took Marie to the lab yesterday to get tests for her doctor to look at today at her appointment. It was a struggle getting her to both appointments. Chad weno over to her house yesterday to remind her and make sure she was getting ready, because her phone has been cut off for non-payment. She told him she wasn’t going to go and it ended up in a screaming match. Chad said she could either go with clothes or go in her pj’s, but she was going! He finally got through to her and she not only went to the lab, but to the doctor today. I told the doctor things are getting worse and I wanted a referral to a neurologist for further evaluation of her memory. Instead of that, they use geriatric doctors to diagnose any form of dementia. So he made the referral while we were in the office and they will call me for an appointment. That’s one hurdle over. I also talked to her about her mail because she has been getting overdue notices, like the phone bill) and ignoring them. So I told her I was putting in a change of address for her and all her mail will come here. That takes about 2 weeks, so Chad is picking up her mail until it starts coming here.
I had a cardio appointment for me on Tuesday and my blood pressure was 177/90. I told my doc, it was probably due to the stress from all the Marie stuff! I’m now on another bp med! 😩

  48. Oh Barb! I can't believe how high your BP was!! Hopefully it will settle down!
I take my BP at least once a month and keep track on my iPhone. It normally runs a bit high aveg. 145/74 and my temp runs low 97.6. I also check my oxygen levels once in a while.
Sometimes I input what I was doing, if the numbers are high, like "I was loading my equipment" LOL!
Jim's next appmt isn't until the first of next year. His hearing will be checked next Monday. Thanks goodness! His hearing is really bad!

Dianne, I have had a few friends go to after surgery rehabs and ended up liking it. They recover quicker because they make sure you do all the therapy. No putting things off and taking longer to heal. Besides, you won't have to cook lol!
I hope he goes that route. You could damage yourself trying to help him.

It has been damp and dreary here. I have been a bit sad. Two of my old (not so old) co workers passed away, an old gentleman friend of mine passed. He was my fave karaoke singer. Last night I heard a good friend of mine son in-law died unexpectedly. So much sadness. I guess as we age we see a lot of this.

I am going to a friend's surprise 60th Birthday party tonight. Hopefully it will cheer me up a bit.

Have any of you ever had your fur friends teeth cleaned? I am nervous about Zoie getting her dental next Tues. I know they will put her out. That's what worries me. The anesthesia.
Well so much for my week. I hope you are all chugging along lol!

  49. I haven’t been to my hairdresser since March of 2019 when everything shut down. My hairdresser guy ended up retiring after about 5 months of shut down, open for a couple weeks, shut down, etc. Then he started doing some appointments at a few clients’ homes, but I wasn’t comfortable with that. Since I got my booster shot I’ve been thinking of having him come to my house so I sent him a text on Wednesday asking if he was still doing that. He didn’t respond, so today I called a friend who has been having him do her hair at her house. She told me he hasn’t responded because he died on Sunday. 😢 His wife told my friend he died in his sleep and not from COVID. He had some health issues, Lupus being one. I think he was about 65 or 66. It was a shock to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Barb Oh, wow! I'm very sorry to hear about your hairdresser. I've been going to my hairdresser since March. I got my second COVID shot on Feb. 17 and I was in the hairdresser's chair on March 2. I go once a month. She's also vaccinated and now I have the booster, too. We both still wear masks and she's the only hairdresser in her shop so I feel very safe about it. I also go eat at the local coffee shop quite often again. Except for the mask, I'm pretty much back to my regular life. Not that that was very exciting. LOL I can't just sit here alone all the time. That wouldn't be healthy, either. Maybe you can ask the Jennifers about who they go to for their hair.

Speaking of vaccines.....Yesterday I went to Kaiser and got vaccine #1 of the new 2-dose Shingles vaccine. Thanks for alerting me to that. The nurse who gave me the shot said the original Shingles vaccine was only 40% effective and this new one is 90% so yay for that. She also said it would make my muscle really sore like tetanus shots do. It did but it's no big deal. I may have gotten a bit of a fever during the night as I woke up around 2:00 a.m. feeling like my head was really warm but my body couldn't seem to get warm under the blankets.

I'm so glad you were able to go to your family reunion and that you had a fun time. I'm glad to hear that Dean is doing well, too. When he fully recovers, he'll probably feel better than he has in a long time.

  51. Barb2 Oh, about your BP...Yikes! Maybe you should have a glass of wine at night to settle yourself down. You're such a good sister to help Marie even if she isn't cooperating.

  52. SacBarb,So sorry to hear about your hairdresser. What a shock it must have been! Very sad :(
Your hair must be getting long. Can you braid it yet? I have be4en keeping mine fairly short. It sure is easier to style.

It was nice getting away for a few hours for the Birthday party. Lots of people there..unmasked. I sat at a table away from the others which wasn't too hard since I really didn't know most. A gal from my VFW came and sat with me. Only the Birthday gal stopped at out table which was ok by me.

It rained all the way home. I hate that it gets dark so early! This is the first time I have driven in the dark on a rainy night since I had my cataract surgery. I must say, it sure was better driving. The glare didn't bother me too much except when someone would not turn off their high beams!.

I left Jim exact instructions on how to feed Zoie at 5:00. I put her food with a bit of pumpkin in a bowl and set it by the sink. It was there when I got home at 8:00! He misunderstood me. He did feed her out of the bag, a quarter cup that I use for a scoop. I leave it in the bag. If I want to be sure Jim hears me, I stand in front of him and talk directly to his face slowly. I'm not sure if he is not hearing me or not comprehending what I am saying, or both. It is taking a lot of patience. I know it must be frustrating to him.

  53. Hi JustLin! I almost stepped on you lol! I agree about not being healthy to sit at home alone too much. I am glad you are up on your shots. I wasn't sure about mine, so I asked my pharmacist, through the drive-through. He flashed me the "your ok" finger sign lol!

  54. Mary I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friends and that things have been dreary and sad. Hopefully, you are out now having a fun time at the surprise birthday party. Hopefully, the "surprise" won't be scary for the recipient. What I really hope is that everyone is vaccinated and that you will be safe. We don't want a repeat of that wedding situation where sick people were at your table.

My dog had excellent teeth and gums so I didn't have to deal with her needing a dental procedure. I used to have dozens of cats though, and they pretty much all came from the same line of feral cats and many of them had horrible teeth and gums. A lot of them had to have dentals and had to have extractions, some had to have all their teeth removed as their gums were as red and inflamed as hamburger. They felt so much better with no teeth, no more bacteria circulating through their systems, and they could eat just fine. They looked and felt better. I know at the vet hospitals that I worked at, we used the gentlest anesthesia possible which is easier on the kidneys and leaves the body fastest in recovery.

  55. Mary2 Thanks for not stepping on me. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself at the party and got home safely.

  56. Dianne It sounds like you had a ball on your vacation. Vacations always seem to go by too fast. I really don't understand how they can not have your handicap room when that is what you specifically reserved.
How maddening! You were very busy on your vacation, doing lots of things. I'm glad you had such a good time with your cousins (except for that little runaway chair incident). Those were very cute pics of you and Louis with the tenor guys.

I agree that Louis should spend some time in rehab before coming home after a hip replacement. There are stairs at your place he would have to deal with, right? And, like you mentioned, you don't have the mobility required to really help him. It would be better for both of you if he didn't come home immediately.

Good for you for getting some Christmas shopping done. My daughter will be here for Christmas and exchange presents and fill stockings. I do have a few stocking stuffers but that's it.

My grandson came for a visit last Saturday so that was fun for me. He brought Matteo with him. I don't know what to call Matteo. He's kind of a step-grandson, I guess. His mother and my son have been living together as a family for years but aren't married. He's 18 and is the one that had a kidney transplant a few years ago. Anyway, it was fun visiting with them both. We went out for a nice breakfast and they put up some Halloween decorations outside in the front yard for me. I can't believe my grandson is 20. How time flies!

  57. Zoie had 7 teeth extracted yesterday. She is doing good. Blood work, ex-rays anesthesia, surgery, and $1065 later .....
I took her in at 8 am, came home and painted my whole kitchen.I picked up Zoie at 4:30 and made a taco dinner.

Matthew hung up my new folding doors. We took down the heavy ones that would never close properly. Drove me nuts, they covered my washer & dryer in the kitchen. I bought bamboo folding doors. Much lighter and prettier.
Habitat for Humanity picked up the old ones. I had never gotten around to staining them because I couldn't decide on the color lol! They basically looked new and the guys were happy to get them.

Today I was gone from 10:30 am until 4:00 helping at a large funeral luncheon. The deceased was the son in law of a friend of ours. He had not been ill. He was helping a friend on some kind of house repair, sat down to rest, and passed away. He was in his mid 50s.
Jim watched Zoie for me. He said she had a good day.
Jim had gone to the bank while I was gone. He handed me $1000.00! Said, "to help pay for Zoie". Shocked the hell out of me! I just might keep him!

I hope you are all well.

  58. Hi..I haven’t been on for awhile so I nudged myself! Mary, glad Zoie is doing ok. Nice of Jim to give you some $. Tell him to keep it up! Sounds like you once again have had some busy days. I met a friend way on the other side of town for my first birthday lunch. My friend is going on vacation next week. We don’t exchange presents but she got me some Carmel bugles. They r so yummy but not in our stores so either Amazon or she finds them at truck stops. Went to a good Mexican lunch at a place we used to go when I lived out that way. Your new doors sound nice. I’m watching the Broncos once again lose the game tonight. We r struggling. I finally got all my gift shopping bags emptied from vacation. I’m pretty much done with shopping. I just have my dil and the person I got in the name draw left because I don’t know what to get them.

We had my nieces shower Sunday at Tammy’s house. It turned out very nice and she received a lot of cute boy clothes. We had the shower as she didn’t get one last time because of covid. Louis still needs an mri to see what they will decide to do. Having trouble getting ins approval…so we still don’t know what will happen.

Barb, so sorry about your hairdresser. What a shock! Very sad. We’re hoping the mederma boosters will get approved this week so we can get it. They were talking about letting you get the other one but I’m not crazy about that idea. How r the Christmas cards coming along? I’m glad u were able to go to the reunion. It sounded like you had fun. How is Dean doing? How very scary. Hope he’s doing ok now. Has he ever had a heart issue? R u going to find a new hairdresser? I can’t believe you haven’t gone for so long!

JL, how fun to have your grandson and friend visit. That was a nice surprise. Is he your youngest? Kayla turned 23 two weeks ago. I so wish she would settle down but I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel yet. She and her sister spend a lot of time together so that’s good. Nice of them to put up decorations for you too. I agree you have to get out of the house for your own mental being. Glad your daughter is coming for Christmas that will be fun. We haven’t had any snow here yet. The mountains have but it’s been pretty nice in the 70’s here. I wish it would stay like this all year. I’m telling you, I need two other little condos. One in Texas and one in Branson. We not only can’t afford it but Louis is too much of a home body to ever want to do it. Oh well..if all goes as planned we r going to meet my cousins in Galveston in mid March for a TTT show. They already got their tickets and asked us to join them. We will go near Houston too to see the rest of the family. Tammy may fly down too.

I’m still so irritated about not only my hotels and my time share. I’m simply not done with all of that though. Hope everyone is doing great. Anxious to hear from you all.
