Some thoughts meandering in my senior mind.
*My therapist said that my narcissism causes me to misread social situations. I'm pretty sure she was hitting on me.
*My 65th year kindergarten reunion is coming up soon and I'm worried about the 195 pounds I've gained since then.
*I always wondered what the job application is like at Hooters. Do they just give you a bra and say, "Here, fill this out?"
*Both my nurse and the pharmacist asked me my birth date again today. I'm pretty sure they are going to get me something.
*I can't understand why women are okay that JC Penney has an older women's clothing line named, "Sag Harbor."
*Money can't buy happiness, but it keeps the kids in touch!
Thanks everyone for the Birthday & Christmas cards! I love getting them! I sent out the last of mine out today. I only have a couple more gifts to get and I will be done! Well, I still have to wrap them! I will take up the kitchen table after supper tomorrow and wrap away!
ReplyDeleteWe got a lot of snow last night so I stayed put today.
Jim and Matthew were busy fixing our water pump. We have our own well. It kept losing pressure a little more each day. I had to use my nagging voice which seemed to do the job lol! Jim took off to the "Do it Center" and bought a new do-dad. Matthew did the repair, and all is "well" now!
We had quite and adventure the other day. Jim came back from the Casino (on my BD), took the dog for a walk, burned trash, and came in and realized one of his new expensive hearing aides was missing from his ear! He couldn't think of when he lost it. He was in full panic mode thinking it could have fallen off at the Casino or somewhere out in the yard or around the neighbor's field where he walked the dog! He looked everywhere even in the dogs kennel, his car, around the trash bin etc. By now it was getting dark. Well, little sleuth Mary asked for his phone. I checked his settings where it shows battery use for his hearing aides.Of course it only showed the one he had. I took off with a flash light all over the yard hoping the battery would pop when I got close to it. Nothing, so I went to the neighbors field and walked all over! I wished I would have asked what path he took lol! All of a sudden bang! the batter light on his phone lit up! Cool! Well, almost. It was dark now and the dang hearing aide could be anywhere in the area. I paced around until the Battery light would go off or on as I got near or away from it. I gave up and told Jim what I did and that we could look for it in the morning since I didn't know what path he took. Nope! On with his coat and off we went with flashlights looking for it in the dark ( I had gone out without my coat and was freezing!). I told him to walk the exact way he took the dog and I'll be dammed if he didn't spot it right away! That teeny tiny thing! Just call me Sherlock lol!! He sure was happy! Two hrs later he thanked me. I think he was in shock lol!!
It's probably a good thing we didn't wait until morning or the battery on his hearing aide would have died.
Dianne, Thanks for continuing to send Tina things to post for us. This one made me LOL especially the birthday one. Since I’ve been doing all this stuff for my sister, I have to keep pretending I am Marie and I keep getting asked to tell “my” birthday as a way to verify. Now, I’m going to think about this every time!
ReplyDeleteMary, So you and Jim have a Christmas elf spirit that helps find lost things. You’re very lucky.
JL, Tomorrow we will finally find out who Michelle picked. I think I will be happy it’s over. These last two seasons were very close together and the Bachelor will start in January. There’s hardly been any time to anticipate the season, and then there’s the fact that we’ve known who the Bachelor will be before the Bachelorette was even over.
Hi….I got nudged by JL and I was still slow getting on tonight. I think k,I’ve been busy with Christmas things every night. We did Christmas with my sil and family yesterday. My secret Santa gave me $100 Amazon gift card. Nice…think I’ll get yet another watch! Tonight I had to get gifts together for lunch with my friend tmrw. It’s been very hectic plus got gifts ready for my Dr office gals. That t took forever and then we took them over today. We r going to Todd’s for
ReplyDeleteChristmas on Wednesday. Tammy’s on Christmas day early for gifts. Tmrw it will be a whole year since my brother passed away. Can’t hardly believe it’s already been a year.
Mary, you were quite the hunter to find that hearing aid location. I’ll bet Jim was very happy. Did u cook on your birthday ? I hope you at least ordered pizza. Is your house call decorated? How about you other owls did u get decorated? I like the decorations all lit at night.
So I don’t remember what I told you about louis. I’ll write more later. My eyes are slamming shut right now.
Dianne, come back and tell us about Louis!
ReplyDeleteIt has been hectic here too.I am still waiting on Matthew's Columbia coat to arrive, and one more Myla gift. I like your secret Santa :).
I didn't feel like cooking so I ordered Chinese. I love Lemon chicken.
SacBarb I wish I had a wealthy Christmas Elf that gifted me a gift like Dianne lol!!
I sometimes have to "pretend" to be Jim on his Blue Cross on-line medical chart. I have a lot of his more important info sent to my email and cell, especially h is prescriptions.
Did anyone nudge Bebbi, Seaside, and JustLin? I miss them!
Thanks to my sweet owls. I loved my Christmas & Birthday cards!
My sis Lena is holding Christmas dinner this year, an almost 2 hr drive. She knows we hate night driving especially this time of year due to the possible bad weather. She told me dinner would be at 4:00 and it gets dark at 5:00, so not going this year. She did agree to meet me half way to exchange gifts. She will have Myla with her, so I am loving that :)
My son Tony and his wife decided to go to her parents winter home in Florida this year, so it will be just the 3 of us. No fuss, no muss.
Matthew loves home made pizza. He bought a bunch of groceries along with all the pizza fixings, so that will be our Christmas Eve meal. Sat., is usually our lay around do nothing day. Sunday I will cook a nice big meal.
Waving at you all ~~~~~
Ok…I’m. Back. I simply could not hold my eyes open last night. K..LOuis is not a candidate for back surgery. His bones will not hold the screws and hardware. He’d was extremely upset when told this news. He’s going to have a back sensor inserted. They said it’s works for most people. He’s very apprehensive about it we like and trust the dr. He went back to pain dr that does this procedure. He will need another mri and has to have an appt with shrink once too. We don’t know why. Meanwhile, they r going ahead with shoulder surgery on left shoulder that is bone on bone. The other one needs rotator cuff. It will take awhile to get back done and scheduled. He’s still adamant about keeping our Galveston plans the end of February. We shall see after this all gets scheduled. We can cancel up to the beginning of Feb. so that’s the louis story. We were supposed to go,to my sons for Christmas tmrw it the two grandsons r throwing up so we are rescheduling. I don't want to be around any germs but it is disappointing. We r taking more things for my wrapper to wrap by Friday. Then we are going to,p rehab place to visit my two good friends. One fell in July and has had Many back surgeries since then and now can’t walk. The other got something in her foot and had surgery and then two infections. She can’t walk either. She’s going home Thursday in a wheelchair. The other one has no idea when she’ll go home. She’s been in hospitals since sept 1. Also going to,Dairy Queen as holiday cakes are 50% off. Getting one for us. Sad situation.
ReplyDeleteMy new great niece is due any day. She’d like to wait until after Christmas since it’s really her first year with the other baby. We were kind of hoping it would be on the 24th Bruce’s bday. Tammy is having 20 people for dinner on Christmas. I like going there. She said I’ve told her that 45 times now! I’m stil doing wrapping of gift cards and small items. Loved all of your cards…thank you.
Mary, it sounds like u have a plan for the holidays. JL, when does your daughter get there? That will be fun for you. I read all your posts gals but now I don’t remember them to post answers. BEar with me please. Mary, I sent your note to the three u wanted nudged. Thatsxabout it right now.
Dianne My daughter drove down from Eugene on the 19th. She left her house about 9:30 a.m. and arrived here after 8:00 p.m. She had her 3 dogs with her so there were potty stops along the way. It is really nice to have her here. We are going to her best friend's house for Christmas Eve dinner. She lives here in town so that's really convenient. We plan to take it easy on Christmas Day and I am going to make baby back ribs for our dinner using a recipe I tried once before for the dry rub and also homemade bbq sauce. It is delicious!
ReplyDeleteI feel so bad for Louis. He must be so disappointed. I hope the back sensor works for him. Maybe they want him to see a psychiatrist because he's in chronic pain and that can make you depressed. I wish it was easier for me to walk distances but my sciatica acts up pretty quickly. I'm pretty sure it would improve with significant weight loss but I don't seem to be motivated enough to accomplish it.
It is very sad about your friends in rehab. I know what you meant, but the way you typed it, it sounded like it was a sad situation that you were going to buy a holiday cake from Dairy Queen for yourselves.
I hope everyone going to Tammy's party is freshly tested negative for COVID. You and Louis definitely don't need to get that and that new Omicron variant is more easily transmissible than the Delta.
Mary First of all, LOL @ you having to use your "nagging voice". Whatever gets the job done. Glad your men folk steeped up and took care of the situation, regardless of the motivation.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for your excellent detective work in locating Jim's missing hearing aid. I'm glad it was recovered. You may have missed your true calling.
I hope the jacket you ordered for Matthew gets here before Christmas. I had a funny thing happen regarding my gift for my brother. Back in the summer, I ordered a wall clock for him that has as it's "hands", John Cleese's long legs because of his Monty Python skit of "the Ministry of Silly Walks. Anyway, it arrived (or so I thought) but I never opened the box it was shipped in until it was time for me to wrap it for Christmas. Turns out it wasn't the clock at all but a bag of sunflower chips I had ordered for the outdoor birds but forgot about. When I went back to the website where I ordered the clock, my updated computer security alerted me that it was a suspicious site. Yikes! I guess I'll just be out the $29. If I would have discovered this earlier, I would have disputed the charge with the bank but this order was back in July so I'll just figure I've learned a lesson to open packages in a timely manner and not make assumptions. Fortunately, I have other gifts for him that I know he will like plus I sent him the usual fudge and cookies. It's enough.
Barb Well, the finale of the Bachelorette was pretty emotional and not the way we thought it was going to go. They still looked very happy at the after show but it's only been two months. He did say he's moving to Minnesota so there is hope.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of fun for me to have my daughter's dogs here (and her, too, of course). The newest one doesn't trust me 100% but does trust me enough to take treats or cheese from my hand. LOL
Tomorrow I'll be pet sitting the gecko again for a while. It's very easy duty. I just have to spray a water mist around the inside of his tank every night and change his drinking water every other day. I had to clear away some holiday decorations in order to make space for him. When he was here before, I put his tank on my daughter's desk in her bedroom. Can't do that this time, especially as she's been working from her room and has a number of zoom meetings in the mornings.
Because they have the gecko, I got the two little kids battery operated lizards for Christmas. They opened those yesterday and their dad sent me a video of them racing them in the house. They were having a ball. They go fast! You can't do that with the real gecko. They gave me some very thoughtful gifts for Christmas. It was totally unexpected. I'm lucky to have such nice neighbors.
Bebbi and Seaside Waving a wing at you.
ReplyDeleteMERRY CHRISTMAS SWEET OWLS!
