~ Happy New Year ~

  1. Happy New Year!!
We had a pretty boring night. We stayed put last night. I miss having NYE dinner with my SIL and her hubby. She passed a couple years ago. BIL has a girlfriend. He didn't reach out to continue the 30 some year tradition. I can understand. We have tried to reach out to him, but he seems to have moved on with his life and we assume he may feel uncomfortable around us with new (he's had a few) girlfriend. Still, we wish he would contact us once in a while.

We are hunkering down, expecting at least 6" of snow tonight. We've already gotten freezing rain.

Matthew got me an Aero-garden seed pod kit for Christmas. He knows I love my herbs. My basil is coming in pretty fast. I will now be able to plant flower starters for spring.
Yesterday I drove to the big city to spend some of the cash Jim & Matthew gave me for my Birthday & Christmas. My old electric toothbrush took a dump, so I replaced that, bought a new pillow and a new set of sheets for my twin bed. I really need to get a new mattress. Maybe in the spring.
When I parked at BB&B, I parked right across from a Jeep the exact color and model as mine. Guess what? Yup,after shopping, I walked right up to the back , lifted the door and bam! It was so loaded with crap that there was no way anyone could put anything in there lol! I did a big *GASP*, looked around to see if anyone was watching, and hurriedly went to my Jeep! If I was able to get in their Jeep, I am sure they could have gotten in mine! Crazy!

Back to my snowy, boring life lol!.............

  3. I’m here. Watched the broncos lose…as usual. How did those raiders and lions do this year? I think the raiders still have a chance for playoffs…sort of! I’m so tired of football. It’s on in this house a lot lately. Boring. We went to visit my friend that just got out of rehab with a leg and foot problem. She got to be home for Christmas though so that was good. We visited her in the rehab but nice to see her home. She’s my friend 78 years old she and her husband adopted her grandson 8 years old. Her husband died two years ago. It’s been hard but she’s doing it and luckily her daughter is normal now and helping Kathy.

We spent New Year’s Eve at home. Went to outback at 4 and it had started snowing. They only had 3 servers in the whole place. Very sad. By the time we finished at 6 it was snowing hard. We stopped at Starbucks and I got hot chocolate to put baileys in and we had a DQ ice cream cake. We watched the Nashville channel and knew almost all of the singers and watched the note drop. First time we didn’t watch the ball drop. Quiet night. Too much snow to go out New Year’s Day. It’s melting at least on hwy now. The news coverage of our fires are heartbreaking. Over 1000 homes lost. It brings tears watching the news.

Mary, your night sounds as fun as ours. At least you got to go shopping and with money given to you. I’m still waiting so long for so many things still. I’m sure from China! I tried to cancel a outside hanging Christmas basket and they keep telling me in my country! Ridiculous! I received a few gift cards to..Amazon, American Express, etc. I will use them. The kids each got us gift cert to a place we love in Estes park. Andy, Wendy, Tammy and James. And te liane and todd gave us one too. We love to go there and last time I found out they have two handicap cabins..perfect. I think I told you but louis is having his reverse shoulder replacement on Feb. 9 and he has to go through a huge assessment before they will start his trial time. He has to talk to a back shrink this week over the phone. I guess everyone does to do this procedure but it seems dumb to us. We r meeting a lady that had it successfully done five years ago and had to do the same thing.

JL, barb, seaside, Bev…How was your New Years? Anything exciting? Even my granddaughters stayed home “chilling” whatever that means. Glad they were all off the streets Well, that’s about it .,didn’t want to leave Mary crying out here.

  4. Happy New Year, everyone. We had a very quiet New Year’s eve and day. Stayed up to watch the ball drop. I was switching channels and don’t remember which one I was watching at midnight, but it wasn’t Nashville. Chad cooked the traditional prime rib and it was delish!

Dianne, Your hot chocolate with Bailey’s sounds good. I need to put that on Chad’s grocery list. We have some cold days coming up! Not much going on here. I’m still dealing with Marie’s stuff. Citibank had 90 days to complete their investigation, so it will probably take that much time before I hear, which puts it in mid-February. Soooo, I wait!

  5. Well, it sounds like we all had a quiet New Years Eve. My friend Kathy and her husband invited me to go to early dinner at Red Lobster. The only time we could get in was 2:45 so that was "early" for sure. The dinner was fine but Kathy and I were freezing in there. At one point, I asked our waitress if she had a blanket. LOL The weather was very cold and I think we were in the path of a draft every time someone came through the front door. After dinner, we went back to their house and had carrot cake. So, needless to say, I was home early.

At about 8 that night, my friend Jane came over for a visit and we caught up on a couple of episodes of Yellowstone, which we love. I heated up some little frozen quiches and made up White Russians to ring in the new year. We did watch the ball drop in New York but that was the only part of the NY show that we watched.

My daughter drove home to Eugene on the 3oth. It was nice having her here for the holidays. She had her 3 dogs with her so that was fun for me, too. It was my first time meeting her newest one. On Christmas Eve we had dinner at her best friend's house. Her friend (Hilary) had just had a lumpectomy two days before so decided to order the roasts, twice baked potatoes, and lava cakes from the Kansas City Steak Company. Boy, was it delicious! She made a Caesar salad and also a bleu cheese/horseradish sauce to go with the meat. There were also a lot of appetizers and drinks. It was a small group of us, all vaccinated and boostered, and a very fun evening.

We've had a good deal of rain lately. It's raining now. As a result, I've had ants coming into the house. They attacked my butter dish twice so that is now in the microwave for safe keeping. I got rid of the main group but I keep finding random single ants who are scouting. What a pain in the ass they are.

I've been having sinus issues for a couple of weeks now. At first, I thought it was a cold but now I think it's probably allergy related. It's been wet and damp and I am allergic to basically everything, including mold. At least my sneezing has calmed down. I just feel like staying in and being cozy and being warm.

  6. I'm glad we all survived the exciting NYE lol!.
I did a lot of channel surfing. Not once did I hear "Auld lang syne" at midnight. :(

We are expecting another storm to come through tomorrow evening.

Jim was gone to the Casino, so I took over his dog walking. I took Queenie out back. Good thing I wore my high snow boots! I was hoping the neighbor had plowed out a path like he used to. I temporarily put Queenie in her outside kennel while I walked Zoie. I only walked her on our property. Jim had plowed out a few short paths.
They are both fed, watered, have pee ed, pooped and all settled in for the night....so is Jim lol!!

I best put Jim's sheets in the dryer and on his bed, or he will have no where to "bed down" lol!

  7. Mary…He might sneak into your bed tonight and you’ll be making whoopee tonight. Fun times ahead. Louis is very grumpy and I know he’s in a lot of pain but it’s getting irritating. I need to be gone and Em canceled today as she went to get tested sick, my friend canceled tonight for tmrw grandson sick and has to babysit and Tammy on Thursday as she was exposed to Covid. Louis is scared to death I’m going to get it and his surgery will be canceled. Meanwhile, except for hair nothing to do for three days. I am still coughing and dr said to call tmrw if no better for a chest X-ray. I’m coughing at night a lot still so I’ll call in am. Darn, louis just said we didn’t win the multi million tonight. Cleaning lady comes tmrw and I hate to be here when she’s trying to work. I’m complaining a lot tonight…sorry. Mary, I think your storm is coming from here. Snow tmrw afternoon and 29 degrees. Sat bronco game sunny and 55. I’m glad for the first snow for our awful fires but notbenough people working to plow very much. I wish the betty white movie was on tv or could be streamed but it’s at the theater. I need t,get back on my bike too. I e been slacking over the holidays.

JL, sounds like you had a nice New Years. What do u get at red lobster? I like the salmon or coconut shrimp. Red lobsters not my favorite place but it’s ok. Louis loves it. On wednesdays they’ve been having steak and lobster for $20.99 and one night it was free delivery. Can’t beat that for sure. Sounds like you had a nice time with your daughter. What did you get for Christmas? I kind of ordered some of my things. I got a nice Sherpa coat..bronco…and ax watch as I’m a watch collector. I have a hard time getting it big enough for my wrist but fossil you can order extra links. Did meet my friend last minute for Mexican dinner tonight and hadn’t seen her for awhile. I’d like to go see my nieces new baby..my great nephew…but I don’t want to go with a cough.

Barb, isn’t it about time for your bachelor show to be starting again? Your prime rib sounded really good. Tonight news is talking about fluorona. Combo of flu and Covid. I was hoping for a better new year. Ho hum. I’m glad our cruise is a year from Feb and not this year…too much still going on. My last hawaii cruise where we both got hurt, sick and in hospital has given me a bad feeling about cruising. Barb, the hot chocolate was really good. Someone just told me that you CAn get cinnamon baileys. Now that sounds really good. I watched the game last night with Pittsburg and I was glad I did. It was Ben the QB last home game. He’s been on that team for 18 years and is retiring. It was quite a touching game and ending plus they won. Nice to see angriest kingbterm player that hasn’t been in trouble and retiring. It’s sure not like Antonio Brown undressing on the field Sunday and walking off the field and now Brady is sticking up for him. He’s been trouble for a long time.

Well, that’s about it. Barb is coming over Saturday to help us take down our Christmas decorations. I’m ready as we put them up early. Have a good sleep, and Mary fill us in on all the details!!!

  9. Mary, I’ve done that with a car before too and then realized it was too messy to be my car and snuck over to mine. Why do our keys open their cars? The car I was at wasn’t locked. Are, I’m getting my hair colored tmrw …how about you? I’m thinking of growing mine a little out and see if I can stand it. Not much just a little longer. My gal might move to Texas down the road and if she does I’ll probably try going to Kayla. It’s just further and more expensive. She has become the salons color expert. They’ve done a lot of training with her and she seems to love her job. They just need to pay better. She gets 40% of her sale plus tips but some younger people don’t tip her much and she’s at a nice place. Mary, have you ever met your BILS girlfriend? it’s too bad he
Doesn’t keep in touch. My 91 year old friend that Ive been friends with for about 35 years old is tiring out. I saw her in august and she canceled a lunch with me about two mos ago. I can’t reach her so I messaged her daughter. She called me back crying and said fern was going downhill. She was with them on Christmas and seemed fine. Her daughter said the last week she’s just been so tired. She mentioned me coming over but fern was confused. She’s always seemed so young to me. She’s been a great friend and we’ve had lots of fun over the years. It makes me so sad. Her daughter said I’d probably never see her again.
I go for a chest X-ray tmrw as this cough is terrible. It’s not a dry cough but I can’t shake it. We stayed home today and ordered some potato soup from outback. It’s so good. Louis had his back shrink call for about ten min now he has to get ins to approve his mri for him. He’s extremely frustrated waiting so long.

Well, Not much more to write since I wrote a book last night. I just wanted to comment on Mary’s things.
