This Night Owl Blog has given so much!
It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"!
We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly.
And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :)
It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!
I have forgotten how to "Bang", but I am sure It would come back to me if Jason Mamoa asked it of me :-) JustLin, You are right, I gave myself a "break" :) You too! Nap away! Once in a while Zoie kind of demands that I lay down with her . She is so funny! She sits in the doorway of Jim's room and barks in an angry sort of way until I go to her. She promptly trots to my room, climbs the ramp and lays down. Sometimes she just naps on her own, then I leave to do chores. Other times like yesterday she will trot after me, bark, until I lay down lol!
Today I went to my hometown and had lunch with my elderly friends. I knew it would be the last time before they went into assisted living. They are so precious! They never let me pay! She says,"Mary, there is little we can do anymore, paying for your lunch is a pleasure." I always leave the tip. On my way home I got a text that my new glasses were in. I drove home, let Zoie out, pee ed, and took off to Lansing to pick them up. I knew it was supposed to start snowing about 3:30 pm. I just made it home when it started. I'm all hunkered down :)
Dianne, the baby is so sweet and cuddly! I love holding and smelling babies 'cept when they poop lol!! You look like you are in heaven! I am sure Bruce is looking down smiling! You are looking good. Love your hair!
I accidentally wrote this on the last blog, so I deleted it there. How is Louis? I hope he gets some kind of relief from his pain. How does he sleep? Is your trip still on?
Barb, What a mess with your sister's account! Is she the oldest? I can't remember, is she still home? I wonder how long before you will have to intervene and force the nursing home situation.Sad.
Oh Seaside, where be ye?? How is Gidget? I was wondering how old she was? My Zoie is 11. Doxies can live up to be 16. I hope she stays as spunky as she is for a few more years. Hugs to you both.
Mary Well, here you are all by your lonesome for way too long. I don't know about the others but my life is pretty boring so it's hard to think of stuff to share. I don't have any mice in my washing machine or anything. LOL
As it turns out I did not have gout, after all. My lab results proved that. On the bright side, my creatinine levels (kidney) are better than they've been in several years. After consulting with the doctor, we came to the conclusion that I have an infection in my foot. It had been getting slightly better each day but still had painful swelling and redness. So now I am on antibiotics since yesterday and I can tell it's considerably better today. I can almost walk without much of a limp at all.
My friend Jane and I heated up our individual leftovers last night and ate dinner together. Then we watched the latest episodes of the new version of Around the World in 80 Days now airing on our local PBS station, The Gilded Age that's on HBO, and then we watch an episode of Sopranos. She never saw the Sopranos and it's 20 years old so the episodes are like brand new to me. I loved that show.
Tomorrow night I am going out to dinner with my friend Kathy. All my social activities revolve around eating.
I had Safeway do my shopping today and then went and picked up my order. They were out of a few things that I wanted so I will have to go search for them tomorrow. One of those things is unsalted peanuts in the shell which I put out for squirrels and large birds. The two ravens that come for the nuts will actually sit on the deck railing and yell at me through the window if they need more nuts. One of them will come within a few feet of me now.
OK! I popped in to say “Hi.” I’m watching Olympic curling. Nothing new is going on in my world. I’m going to meet Todd for breakfast in downtown Sac on Friday. He and three friends are going to Shasta to play golf, so they flew to Sac and will rent a car to drive to Shasta after breakfast. It about three hours from here. For now, back to the curling competition! ❤️
Ok ok I’m here. Sorry I was so pokey. It seems like we’ve been busy but yesterday stayed home all day because of -10 and snow and ice. Not good driving weather. I was able to get out today. It’s up to 25 but roads are ok and sun is out. Good thing I had to go to dermo today for a bad tummy rash. I had to get my sig at the colon dr Tuesday . It all turned perfect and unless an issue never need it again after age 75. Yippee. Back to dermo next tues.I’m on prednisone again, anti biotic and new cream. I’m trying to get thing in before louis surgery Wednesday he will spend the night and I pick him up at 8am Thursday. I pray for no snow. I go to PT consultation on Friday. We went to Costco today and I wandered the freezer section to find a few meals that I can do while he’s under the weather. Mary, he’s still in a lot of back pain. He finally got a date for the trial to be inserted but not until March 17. Yes, our week trip is still on. I made him call dr again to tell her how many miles, etc. I can certainly drive unless it’s snowing then nope. I just can drive far distances as I get so sleepy. We r taking small suitcases. It’s been a big deal with my cousin we r meeting. R vrbo needs to be canceled by the 16th or we loss a lot of money. She was trying to get a back up. Well, it’s spring break so the hotels are like $280 a night and we will be there for three nights. She found a back up a little less but I checked reviews…roaches in micro wave an bathrooms , carpet smells like urine. Nope not for me! There were about two good reviews. We r staying a night in Houston the first night. It’s only 1-1/2 hours from Galveston. We’ve stayed there before so I just made our stay longer for back up. She’s driving me crazy ! I even offered to totally cancel but no as we r going to see TTT and spend time in Galveston. Well, louis sure can’t walk around town so we shall see what happens. I think she’s worried one of us will get Covid between the 16th cut off date and we won’t be there until March 2. Anyway Mary, I’m sure you’re sorry you asked. I can’t believe there was a mouse in your washer. I would have passed out. Did you accidentally touch it? Oh, wash those clothes again. Did u catch anymore? Set traps?
JL, it sounds like your social life sounds fun. Lots of yummy dinners with friends. I’m really glad u don’t have gout and your kidney levels are better. Watch that foot close. My other best friend had an abscess in her foot and had some surgery end of Nov. she developed an infection and had to go to hospital and then rehab. She went home before Christmas but now is back in hospital with sepsis. I don’t mean to scare you and I’m glad it’s getting better. Just keep a close eye on it. It’s been a tough month for me losing two close friends and kathy being back in hospital. I seem like doom and gloom. Sorry.
Barb, I’m sorta watching skating. I like tmrw night better for the opening night. I’m glad you get to have breakfast with todd tmrw. It will be nice for you to have some time together. I think,it would be awful to come all the way to China and then not qualify or one guy has tested positive for covid. Denver and most counties have decided to not require masks as of tmrw. My county says Feb 18. U never know when u go in places except dr offices. Hard to know. I’ve just been careful so louis can get his surgery after all this wait. It’s at an ortho hospital so no worry about getting a bed.
Ok I’m caught up. Hi seaside and Bev. I see you all got your groundhog cards. Did you all get a lot of them? Hee hee we have a marmut or something like that here that didn’t see his shadow (because of the snow) so we’re going by him. Guess I’ll watch more skating. Nothing else to do. Bye….
Btw, I was married to the kids dad 54 years ago today. Boy, that’s a long time ago. Louis and I will be married 19 years on Feb 8. I’m breaking my record!
Dianne, I hope all goes well on your trip, although I really worry about you going. I guess I’m a little paranoid. I was even worried about meeting Todd and his two friends in a restaurant, but I did it anyway. It was so good to see him even though it was just for two hours. They went on to a little town near Shasta where one of the friends, Terry, grew up. They are playing in a charity golf tournament at a course named for Terry’s grandfather. His grandfather was one of the founders of the town. I got a call from CitiBank about Marie’s credit card investigation, so they are finally working on it. I have to pretend I’m her every time I talk to them and it’s really hard to remember I need to talk in her voice. I’m getting better at it as time goes on! I don’t like to lie, though. I’m still keeping all of us in my prayers. I wish Louis wasn’t in such pain.
JL, Is the infection in your foot any better with the med? Do you know what caused it? It’s nice that you and your friends can keep up the dinner dates. I gave away my ticket to see Anastasia yesterday to my neighbor. I’m just too worried about going being in such a big crowd. They require masks, but people pull them down to their chin once they get inside and the ushers don’t or can’t do anything about it. And they pack the house with no empty seats. Todd said there were only 59 people on their flight and there were no two people sitting together unless one was a child with an adult. I wish the Community Center would do that.
Mary, I can’t believe how much snow you guys have! Sorry you lost that big branch off your tree. Do the dogs mind going out in the snow? When Todd lived in Denver, his San Diego dog wouldn’t go outside in the snow. Todd had to clear a path for him and he would just walk on the path, do his business, and run right back to the house. LOL They were there for five years and moved back to San Diego. LOL
I have forgotten how to "Bang", but I am sure It would come back to me if Jason Mamoa
