  1. Dianne, I don't recall hearing about Todd's position. Sounds good :)
I could never ask Jim's son to stay in a motel. They come so far and only every few years. I got a nice thank you from son-in-law thanking me for "bending over backwards" to make them comfortable. They really appreciated it. I hadn't seen daughter IL in over 5 yrs. They have trouble finding someone to take care of their dogs, chickens, and horses, so dil stays home. She works for the Montana County animal control.

JustLin, I sent you card early hoping it would not get lost or late lol!. I hope it is a fantastic day for you!

Barb, How are you? Did you send us all this wind lol! We are waiting for our second spring, as our first one sizzled after a week! I actually got pelted yesterday with hail while feeding my birds! Ba humbug!!

  2. Hello, Ladies!

Well, I had a very nice, low-key birthday. Lots of calls and plenty of gifts and my friend Jane took me out for dinner. I started with a Bloody Mary, then I had minestrone soup, prime rib, baked potato and creamed spinach. Chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert. All in all, a very nice day. After dinner we came back to my house and watched a show on Netflix that we are interested in. At 76. that's about all the celebrating I need. Now I'm comfy in my robe and slippers.

  3. Mary I don't know where your card is but I expect it will arrive on Monday. Like I said on our group text, it will extend my birthday by a couple more days.

We continue to get rains and showers off and on here. It was raining gently earlier today. I have a platform type birdfeeder that I bring in every night (so I'm not feeding rats at night) and I also keep it in when it rains. If it's raining lightly and the birds are pecking around on the deck, I'll go spread a little birdseed directly on the deck. I also put peanuts out for the squirrels. Lately, I have a lot of Steller's Jays that are taking a lot of the peanuts.

I'm glad you had a nice visit with your Montana visitors. I'm glad they appreciated all you did for them.

  4. Dianne Did Em ever make it over to help you organize? I wouldn't mind having someone come to help me clean out closets.

I'm glad the pain in your leg went away. I wonder what caused it. I've had my share of aches lately. The sciatica has been acting up on my right side so I was already gimpy because of that and then I hurt my left foot. I feel like part of the time, especially in the mornings, I was walking like the Grandpa in The Real McCoys. Remember that show? Anyway, I strained the muscle on the outer edge of my foot when I was pushing a very full and very heavy recycle bin upwards to the street for pick up. Usually, I put the recycle bin out when it's only half full because it is so big and gets so heavy. Pushing it uphill means I'm pushing mostly with the ball of my feet. Bottom line, I hurt myself. Lesson learned.

I do recall that your son got a promotion in the police department. I'm glad it's going well for him.

  5. Barb It's time to hear from you. I just got my hair cut on Thursday and it's a bit too short. It will probably be perfect in a week or so. Do you still have long hair?

I guess you've found some kind of workable solution to your sister's banking issues. She's lucky to have you and your sons to help look out for her.

  6. Glad u had a nice birthday. Your dinner and dessert sound delicious. I didn’t realize you were almost my age..6 months different. Monday is my 1/2 bday. I received a card from Kathy for the day with a sonic gift card! We both never forget our half’s. Mary, Todd became a sargeNt in October and was doing internal affairs. The Chief called him directly and said he wanted to start a new dept about finding stolen cars. Todd picked four detectives and two police to be in the dept it’s been going for a month now and very successful already the first month. I thought it was quite an honor for the chief to pick him out amongst all the police. He’s hoping the sept will continue. Right now it’s set up for three months. He’d like to be promoted to a detective again. They would like him to be a Sargent a little longer. I’m very proud of him. He’s back to a co,panty car and weekends off. Barb and I went out for Greek lunch today. It was very good. Just a little place but crowded.
Louis gets X-rays in a week and then the surgeon appt the next week. Hopefully he’ll be released from restrictions that day. He’s still not driving, laundry or getting groceries. Yesterday wE drove up in mtns about 1-1/2 hours away to meet friends for lunch. They usually meet us but not this time. It’s all hwy but I’m not thrilled to drive in the mtns. It was nice to get him out of the house for awhile though.
Yes,Em came Thursday afternoon. And organized desk drawer and bed drawers. We threw a lot away and as usual took a lot home. She’s a great organizer and makes me throw things away…”nana do I really need four bottles of cuticle oil”. No, I don’t even use one…we kept one ! I love spending the afternoon with her too. That’s about around here. One more time …happy birthday, JL

  7. JustLin, I can see why you are so proud of Todd. What an honor! His new dept sounds interesting.
We must all be close to the same age!

Dianne,I will have my "1/2" in June lol! I will be 76 Dec.16. My mind says no!, but my bones say.."yup!"
I finally went back to my Chiro. My sciatica was getting pretty bad. Justlin, I too have been doing a lot of pushing, lifting etc. I love working outside. I did quite a bit lately. I have a small push mower I use in Zoies little fenced in area. I get a bit carried away and do more outside of it. Jim & Matthew mow the 4 acres. We have a lot of trees and it's a bit hilly in places. I have never attempted to do that lol! I am thinking all the pre visitor cleaning the whole house didn't help either.

I had a terrible dream last night! I saw Jim in the living room smirking and lighting up a cigarette! I went into a terrible outrage/tantrum and packed up and left. It was way to realistic!

  11. Hello my lovely Owls. I’m sorry I have been such a bad owl. I get busy around here doing my stuff and Marie’s stuff and I forget to check in the nest.

We got someone to do a little cleaning at Marie’s this week. Dean and his wife and son worked at her house for 4 hours on two Saturdays and took a load to the dump. A woman contacted me and said she and her two sisters would clean and not charge us much. I talked to her about Marie’s bathroom and told her how bad it was and she said it would be no problem, so they cleaned it on Tuesday. They did a fantastic job. Bathroom and kitchen are sparkling clean. The three of them worked for 6 hours and also cleaned her bedroom and got all the cobwebs down. Chad had a “come to Jesus” talk with Marie and told her she better put trash in the trash cans and he better not find any on the floor or else there would be hell to pay! We’ll see how that works!

Dianne, Congrats to your son on his promotion. I hope the new department is a big success so it can continue beyond the 3 months. I wish I had someone who would come over and help me organize. I have a lot of stuff to throw out and also to shred.

Mary, Having bad dreams is scary. I hope it’s not an indication of Jim going back to smoking.

JL, I’m glad you had a nice birthday celebration with your friend. I think I am the oldest of our little group. I turned 80 last October. UGH!!! Dean is taking me to lunch tomorrow for Mother’s Day.
