The Brady Bunch

as i child growing up, i absolutely adored
this show, i wanted to be a brady kid, so
i can have lots of brothers and sisters to
play with, and of course sing and dance with

it was so fun to sit real close to
the tv with my legs crossed and watch
this family, i did this every week and
have seen every episode

i was enthralled when they would sing
and dance and wear all the same outfits

tiger beat was my magazine of choice
to flip thru those pages and see them all
was like getting my first doll! Amazing!

jan with that favorite line:

"Well, all day long at school I hear how great Marcia
is at this or how wonderful Marcia did that! Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!"

and dear alice, how i wished she was part
of my family, so fun she was, her and sam
a couple, bowling is what they did, imagine
if it was that easy now!

i am so glad i grew up watching these
brady kids, great tv back then
life was so different!

however, brady brides! not so good!
:O)

  1. tee hee...my "first" cherry has been popped!!

    maureen, maureen, maureen!

    good morning feathered friends!

CAROL...fun, fun blog! I loved the Brady Bunch, too. I even did a eulogy on my blog when Sam the Butcher passed away!

I hated Marcia and felt bad for Jan! And Cindy just irked me! My favorite was Peter (but not Chris Knight anymore...he's a maniac on his reality show!)I didn't like it so much when the little cousin came to live with them. And you're right...Brady Brides...not so much!

    And the movies...OY!

  2. I forgot to say...my evil twin was thrilled when Marcia got smashed in the nose by the football!!

I have to admit...I am out of the loop here in the nest. Been too tired to really read the comments. A quick scan was all I could manage. I've missed you guys!

JUST LIN...I think I have missed something. I thought Custard was coming to you. But you seem to be going somewhere. Are you two meeting somewhere else? Where?

TINKA...I hope you are feeling better.

Same for DIANNE and MEK and LYNN.

And again, my deepest condolences to CAROL and your family.

  6. Here's the story of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
    The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men, living all together,
    Yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew that it was much more than a hunch.
That this group would somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch.
The Brady Bunch, The Brady Bunch.

That's the way we became the Brady Bunch.

  7. Good Morning Everyone! I got my computer back! I was in serious withdrawal here!!

MO: CONGRATS on #1 and popping that cherry!! ;)

CPGEM: We watched the Brady Bunch every week too. I still catch the re-runs. I loved Greg..remember Johnny Bravo? How 'bout Cindy and her doll Kitty? The mysteriously disappearing Tiger..who re-appeared as a different breed of dog? The Hawaii episode with the legend of the Tiki doll? The guest stars? Davey Jones, Joe Namath, Don Drysdale. I can still hear the song Davey Jones sang--"Girl, look what you've done to me.."

The only thing that ever disapointed me was the variety specials. Serious cover your face moments.

Does anyone remember the fued with the Partridge Family?

Great topic Carol, and tons of memories to go along with it.

  8. Congras on 1st, 2nd, 3rd......7th! LOL

I loved the Brady Bunch too. I could never figure out why an architect stuffed 3 kids in each bedroom though, but could afford a housekeeper.

My favorite was Alice, and then Carol and then Jan. Marcia, Marcia, Marcia got on my nerves. Although I like Maureen McCormick.

The sun is shining today after our snowstorm yesterday. What a looooong winter this has been!

  9. Here's the story
    of a lovely Carol.
Who created a nest for all her very special friends.
All of them like to blog and laugh together,
and sometimes we all need to wear Depends

    Here's the story
of a group of night owls.
That needed a place to interact.
When the old nest was too full of wee-wee
We sought a place that we could all just be-be!

Then that one night when Carol opened the blogspot door
and put up a welcoming blog for us to all enjoy.
We flew in and pulled up chairs and toasted Carol,
and learned to love to be called a whore!

That's the way we all became the Night Owls Nest

    The night owls nest
    the night owls nest

That's the way we became the night owls nest!

    ReplyDelete
  13. MO: PERFECT!!!

GOLDIE: I wondered about how three kids slept in the same room without there being a lot more fighting. And ONE bathroom for SIX kids??

The last home my Aunt owned was a split level and was painted green. I swear it was the Brady house!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wish you could have lunch with us too! We are trying again next friday. Keep your fingers crossed. We should be done shoveling by then.....

  17. Bobby Sherman??? I adored Bobby Sherman!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. MO: Computer wasn't sick..Mr. Z had to do a project for work and I wasn't allowed to touch anything. He stood here while I answered emails so I wouldn't wreck what he had saved!

There was a HUGE feud...they actually kept tabs on who got the most mail etc. David Cassidy...sigh.

GOLDIE: It was 85 here yesterday, I thought we were going to have to turn on the a/c!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. GOLDIE...I just saw that commercial the other day. Brought bake memories of such an innocent time.

ZONA...was your Aunt's house in Cleveland?

    ReplyDelete
  20. GOLDIE...A friend of mine in Los Angeles was in a biking group and he rode with Bobby Sherman all the time. Bobby's a paramedic and my friend sent me a picture of him a couple of years ago...still dreamy!!

"Julie, Julie Julie..do you love me? Julie Julie Julie, do ya care? Julie Julie are you thinkin' of me? Julie, Julie will you still be there?"

I LOVED the Brady Bunch.. I triple loved Bobby Sherman!! and I also got Tiger Beat mag!! had all those terrible posters hanging in my room....

  34. Morning Glories! hehehe

Well I just finished watching the Sound of Music in Area 51! LMAO

Hmmm the Brady Bunch yeah we watched it every Friday night, but I had a different take on it as I was living a blended family. My thought as a kid was this is so not real! LOL But I did love Alice.

I watched the Partridge Family too liked it much better! Was in love with David Cassidy. I even went as far as to tell everyone when I was in the 5th grade that my cousin Cathy was dating him. She was my favorite cousin and was really pretty! I just knew that if they met they would date! LMAO I told her this story years later and she laughed so hard she peed.

I was not a Tiger Beat person. Alot of my cousins were tho and would tape the pictures all over their walls. I had one cousin Sherry Jo who has Cerebral Palsy who was wild over Bobby Sherman!! Everytime he was on TV or a new picture came out she would weep hysterically! Her brothers would tease all the time and if they got mad at her they would hide her Tiger Beat magazines! The Butt heads.

I told someone this story and they got all upset and said how cruel that was as she was handicapped. I looked at them like what the heck?? I then explained that we really did not see her handicap! Her parents made sure she was just one of the gang of kids and never held her back! Never occured to us not to treat her the same. She tortured us too! Heck her brothers tortured me all the dang time. LMAO!

Good Morning Mo my did they put a gag on you at work this week?? You have run amok! LOL congrats on 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th and 7th ROFLMAO

Hey Goldie and Zona! Zona isn't it a bitch when you can't use the computer and the damn men in our lives get so bent out of shape about it???

This Novel has been brought to you by: HO HO's a Tasty Treat!

J/LIN: WOW! The BIG day is almost here!

  38. LYNND: I think a lot of us just wished we could have had a family that was like the Brady Bunch. My sister still watches the Waltons and sighs over their family.

My hubby was hinting this morning that maybe it was time to get himself a Mac...WTC!!! After he uses MY (yes, I have taken it now) computer all up!

    SCIRISH: I liked Jay...

It finally stopped snowing here and the Sun is trying to come out. I sure hope this is the last of it!
    xo

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey Zona: Not getting any weird tones tho people have been complaining about all kinds of glitches. My Home page has a box that wants my first and last name. To be only used for searches! Hello If I wanted that I would have marked it when I signed up! It is driving me crazy I can't get rid of it!

Mr. Lynn D and I have our own computers. But he still gets huffy if I get any kind of virus or glitch! Argggg! I keep telling him he better get used to doing his own laundry! Does he here me bitch when I have to deal with some of his unsightly messes??? Hmmmmm NO! LOL By the way he has two computers and I have 1.

  46. Good Morning Zona and all of her little owl friends in the nest this morning. I am still using positive thinking to get myself well enough to enjoy tomorrow. I just wish I hadn't left buying goodies until the last week. I never do that and I don't know why I did this year but I have learned my lesson once more. I will be sending friends on errands for me today. It's because Easter was so early I couldn't get into it.
I watched the Brady Bunch with my three kids. I always enjoyed it because my kids loved it. We always watched it as a family on Friday nights.

    ReplyDelete
  47. LYNND: The sound on Myspace is like a bell or something...maybe to tell me I have messages?? I don't know. And all the captcha boxes are driving me frickin' NUTS!

    Ok...I'm better now...;)

I don't have to sign my name..oh geez, I hope Tom didn't hear that and change that too!

Hubby wants a MAC!! Crap he can take this one, and I'll take the Mac!! LOL @ doing his own laundry. When Mr. Z thinks he's in trouble that's EXACTLY what he does! I should snarl a little today and see what gets done! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  48. TINKA!!! Hello sweet lady! I have sent so many positive thoughts and prayers your way..I know you will feel even better tomorrow! We have to go get things today for Easter too. I hope it's not too crowded.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good Morning Birdee and Tinka!

Tinka: Hoping you start feeling better today!!!

Birdee: How goes the roof? We are working on the same issues in the D household!

Zona: Are you sure it is not your computer sending out signals?? I hope not! the captcha or whatever the hell those are drive me crazy too!

I am going to try to keep up today also but I have to run out and get a few errands done!

    Love ya Owls!

    ReplyDelete
  50. There ya go!!! I mentioned Tink, and she arrive's!!! Nice to see you again!!! xoxox

Zona, I had to change my settings on MS..I never had the box marked for captcha and all of a sudden it was. jigglin mentioned it to me. She thought it was "Tom" messing with stuff, because it was on there for about a month all of a sudden. So I went back and unclicked the box. I'm glad she mentioned it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Zona, thanks! I didn't know I made 50! lol

Lynn, The roofers had to stop about 1 pm, cuz it was snowing and started to get slippery. the old roof is torn off, so I have only a tarp ther now. They may have to wait until Monday to come back. They were going to try for today, but it just stopped snowing about half an hour ago. It got pretty cold in here last night.

    ReplyDelete
  52. LYNND: Signals?? I just put a music player on, and it makes this sound as it loads for me.

BIRDEE: I'm going to check that out...cuz it drives me crazy..

    ReplyDelete
  53. Maureen - I forgot to congratulate you on being first. I am sorry because it was your
'first at being first' and that's a big deal. Thank you for the well wishes.

Birdee - Yes a little birdie told me you were looking for me so I flew in. I missed you too.

Zona - I think our prayers are working because the way I felt on Wednesday I thought I didn't have a chance. This is 'de je vu' for me because the same thing happened for my Christmas party. Could it be
    'stress' I wonder?

Lynn - Good morning back at ya. I am getting there. My fingers are crossed.

I think I have had all the excitement this young '39' yr old can take so I am back to bed for a while. Catch you all later.

Thanks for the blog Carol. You are a sweetheart.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh Birdee I feel for you! We were lucky as we only lost some shingles in one area where the leak started. My Dad came on Monday and patched it for now. We took pictures to turn it into the insurance as we lost the shingles in the wind storms we had this winter. So we can get by until summer! Thank goodness!

Zona and others that have been having eye strain from the computer. I keep forgetting to pass this on. I saw a news report the other day that said wearing rose colored or pink tinted glasses when on the computer helps to alleviate the strain. It is becoming a common problem. they also said to make a conscious effort to look away from the computer every once in a while to rest the eyes. Hope that helps someone.

Ok going to check myspace and then I have to jump in the shower so I won't be a dirty bird!

    ReplyDelete
  55. TINKA: I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS stress!!

LYNND: I need to get some of those, I make myself dizzy sometimes!

Hope everyone has a great day, I have to go solve the mystery of the bagpipes...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Last year I got my stepdaughter hooked on Brady Bunch. We started with the first episode and watched all the others in order. She fell in love wither episode and we had so much fun watching them with her.

Now we have her hooked on Family Affair and Leave it to Beaver.

  57. Maureen congrats on being first!

  58. Good morning, morning owls Lynn D, scirish, tinkatia, 'weenie, MEK, Goldie, Zona, Carol, and Birdee!

Brady Bunch... watched it, but never really got into it; I liked the Partridge Family better, too. When I think about the BB now, it's all so tinged with irony, what with Robert Reed and all.

From A51: Waving to IBB, Mary/MI, MEK, Bon'O, and all the late nite SOM afficionados!

Dianne: Glad to see you back!

    Nowmercy: Where are you?

Glynis: Glad to hear your back is better, right in time for Easter!

SacBarb, DonnaJean, East Bay, J/L, outatune, et al: It's going to be a wonderful Northern California spring day today! Perfect for... and egg party! But first, I have to drive up to the city for a tennis practice.

Talk to you later, owls! Google and watch "The Brady Bears" if you want a laugh!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Did you know that the house next door to the one that they used to film the Brady show is up for sale and no one will buy it. I guess evryone is afraid of too many sight seers.

    ReplyDelete
  60. *Just a footnote*

(Don't watch the Brady Bears around children)

As soon as my stepdaughter heard the theme song to the Brady Bunch she came running out of her bedroom.

Thank goodness I got to the "x" button quick enough.

    It was funny though.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I enjoyed watching Maureen McCormick on Celebrity Fit Club. I felt sorry for her when she went to Dr. Phil and did a segment afterwards where she tried to track down her father and her crazy brother who was brain washing their Dad and keeping him hidden in different locations. The show ended where she was taking her brother to court over it all.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Sorry, was off brushing teeth and washing up..bit of makeup on..ready to go!

    Whabbear, Hi! How are you?

Lynn, we had a leak too. That's why I had to stop on the painting. Our leak was caused my Carpenter Ants!!! Had a tree that hung over the corner of the house. When we cut it down, that's when we found the problem and where they were coming from. Mr. Birdee thought he had the damage repaired. sorry to say..he would not listen to me about there being a problem!

Carol, I'm glad you're doing better.
I just found out one of my Aunts has been in the hospital since Tuesday! Not to complain...but I hate it when my mother doesn't tell me things as they happen. Back in Jan. she told me about another Aunt that had gone through colon surgery for cancer!!! she had the surgery Months before I found out. She'll tell me trivial stuff but, Not the Important stuff!!! I don't get it!!
So, I need to go to the hosptital soon, because thing's may not be good.
    Well, better get moving now!

I will try and stop in later.
    Have fun today!!
    xoxox

  68. Hi Birdie,
Yeah, her brother was awful. He of course just wanted their Dad's money.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Birdie,
Yes, Mauren McCormick's mentally challenged brother was so sweet. Typically they always are. My grocery bagger is MC and I just adore his sweetness. It's so sad that they have these mental challenges but I love being around them. All my life I've been around the ones who have Down Syndrome, etc. and they ad a uniqueness to my life. It's kind of hard to explain but I am grateful to have known them all.

  70. ******CONFESSION TIME!******

    I cheated at being 1st thru 7th.

Carol called me this morning and told me her computer is down and asked me to go in and post her blog! But I had so much fun, I kept up the charade. I abused my power!!! So sorry. BUT, it was fricken fun! bwahahaha

My name is MoHo and I am a 1st whore!!

LYNN...LOL@ asking if they had me gagged at work!! It's weird, because my background is in retail management. I literally yapped for 8 - 10 hours a day. Now I can pretty much only yap to myself and the computer screen! And I sit ALL day! Two things I am not used to! But, I'm not complaining.I LOVE it!!

I had a nap, and now I am starving! See ya in a while.

  71. Happy to report that all 4 bathrooms are sparkling clean - including the baseboards! Thanks alot MEK, I will never again be able to clean a bathroom without using lemon oil on the woodwork....

Good morning (afternoon here) to everyone!! I hope you have a fab day. Taking Mom (she should be here in an hour) shopping and Mr. Goldie is making dinner. Gotta love that man.

Oh, and anyone else remember Bobby Goldsboro?? "Honey" and "Watching Scotty grow"- I loved him too when I was a pre-teen.

    ReplyDelete
  72. MoHO - Thanks for the confession!!

Goldie - sorry about the floorboards, it's just something my mother does and she'll tell EVERYONE if they are not clean somewhere!!! Gets on my nerves..

OKAY - you know you are the coupon queen when the cashier tells you that YOU have saved the MOST of anyone ALL morning!!! SCORE!!! LOL

AND - I just bought my Carrie Underwood tickets - I must really love her - cuz I have just don't pay these kind of prices to see someone in concert - PLUS they add on TEN dollars per ticket for the "convenience" of purchasing them on the computer!!! WTF!!! oh well........ I do love her and will get to see Josh Turner also..
Don't think I will tell Mr. MEK how much this evening will cost us!!!

I'm going back to bed -

    hugs to all....

    ReplyDelete
  74. Lynn - I can't get rid of those boxes either and I did NOT put my full name in the beginning ON PURPOSE!!! so - I guess it will just have to stay there forever, cuz I refuse!!! :-) (on myspace)

  75. Zona's back....yippee!! And glad you have stopped hearing voices...or rather bag pipes!

Tinka is feeling a little better...yippee! Tink, here's hoping and praying for feeling even better for Easter Sunday and the Easter Bunny and the Eastergrandbaby!

Hope the people that are snowed in and under are digging out today and thawing out and that now maybe spring is springing!!

Maureen....ho ho ho to your "first" confession! Too funny! And adored your Brady Bunch Owls song! Fantastic!

Whabbear...I was one of the SOMmers last night and I loved your "Isn't it wonderful, Gayorg....insert here" protocol. Mind if I steal it? I was thinking this morning that it could come in quite handy in several work situations!!

Carol..hope you are doing okay today! And thanks for this great blog topic. Between the Sound of Music and the Brady Bunch..that's the fabric of my childhood in a nutshell. Along with of course:
    Partridge Family
    Courtship of Eddie's Father
    Family Affair (remember Mrs. Beasely?)
    My Three Sons
    Mayberry RFD
    Gomer Pyle
    Room 222
    Love American Style
    Mary Tyler Moore
    Rhoda
And I was in love with the Artful Dodger from Oliver..sad...now I can't even remember his name!!

    Happy Saturday Owls!!

  76. Good Easter Eve Owl Friends!

A very busy day today, so just a quick fly-by.........

    From Area 51:

Dianne/D~~So glad to read that things are looking up!

SacBarb~~Thanks for feedback on Patty. If she had deleted her MS, I wouldn't have been concerned. But to just not sign in for over 2 months. I didn't ge to know her all that well, but she hasn't posted anywhere for so long....Same with Sophie. I miss photos of gorgeous little Belle!
    *****************
re MySpace: emailed LynnD that I got rid of the box asking for a last name by putting "(blank)" including the parentheses in the last name box. I, too, use MS for the blog only, and don't want people searching for me! Now, how to get rid of the dang new 'fanfare' sound when going to someone's page...and the ads with sound. Very aggravating!

re: eye strain~~ I find what's most helpful is to 'up' the size when reading the blog to 150%. Makes reading so much easier, plus all your wonderful avatars are so much more interesting!

Good to see you back, Tinka. Hope you have a good day tomorrow. Easter needs to be in April! I wanted to send a basket to No. Carolina, including additions to the WebKinz collection. Ended up having to send just a card and cash. That's just NOT being a good Nana. Always have a bouquet of lilacs on the table for Easter. This year, my lilac tree is just starting to get its leaves. No hint of blossoms yet. Maybe for Mother's Day?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Bon Oregon - I had to do the same thing, cards and cash. I like picking out pretty outfits and buying Easter candy. This darn early Easter. I finally figured it out. I was always told that Easter was the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Equinox. The Equinox was Thursday, the full moon was Friday and Easter Sunday is two days after that. This is the earliest Easter Sunday can be. Why did it have to be this year is my question? I will go back and read some blog and then get back into bed.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hmmm, so we have done the SOM and the Oscars communally and both were way too much fun! What could be next?!!!

Bono...I opened a drawer this morning and out popped a paper butterfly...and I thought of you. Hope you are having the kind of day that brings more butterflies around you!

    MEK...queen of the coupons...woohoo!

Tinka...Hope you are feeling much better! And I agree. Easter in March is waaaaay too early. And now there are no long weekends until May. I might actually have to work or something....said by someone who has just had a very lazy week of spring break!!

Happy day before the Easter chocolate!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I didn't scroll back very far so I know I am missing saying hello to some very dear friends.

Maureen - You legally lost your cherry even if you did cheat. That's okay. We love you anyway.

VIG - I loved all those shows. I would watch "Family Affair" and worry what would happen to my kids if my husband and I died suddenly. My sister already had 3 kids. A family of six wouldn't be easy. I adored "Mary Tyler Moore" and
    "That Girl".

Mek - How I would love to be going with you to see Carrie Underwood. I love her so much. I wouldn't care what I paid. She will never come this way I don't think.

Goldie - I remember "Watching Scotty Grow" and "Honey". I would cry every time.

    Back in a few hours.
    Love, Tinka

  80. Happy day before Easter!

Congrats Mo, I got my first first a week or so ago, then my second a few days after that!

I love the BB too, and Bobby Sherman! I used to have pics of him hanging in my bedroom.

I also LOVED the Cowsills, anyone remember them?

Whab is right, it's a gorgeous, sunny day here today. My huz and I just went and picked up a huge avocado tree to plant in the back.

JL is this the big weekend? I will be waiting to hear how it goes, I hope it's everything you hope for.

Will you be able to blog while you're away? And when will you be back?

(sorry for being so nosy!) :)

    Happy Saturday to all!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Tinka....I totally forgot about "That Girl"! I loved that show! I was always twirling around and throwing my Girl Guide tam up in the air - I wanted to be her badly!!! I think that is so cool that you watched the Brady Bunch with your kids...what a great Mom you are!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hello gals, I only made it through half of the blogs today. If I finish them I will never get the bathroom cleaned, cupboards washed, floors moped and groceries bought! Can you tell Easter dinner is here tomorrow? I will catch up tonight.

SacBarb~ from area51~ Let me know if you here from Patty. Tell her I said "hi".

Maureen~ Congrats on the "cherry popping" LOL!!

Zona ~ 85!! I will pile up the snow we got last night and pour it over your hot head LOL!!

  89. TINA...I am really enjoying it. The people are really nice. It seems to be a good environment. As of now, I am hoping it can become perm, and I can actually earn enough to live on!!

It has been really busy and I have no time to do anything but work! But one of the bosses asked me to bring in my lappy so she could see samples of cards to steal! It was a nice little break!

Oh, and I lost 2 pounds already...amazing what not sitting home and snacking will do for ya! And I can only have 1 cig a day there! woo hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'mmmmm Baaaaack!

I hate shopping!! The animals are out today and I think we may have to license people to drive a cart! Lunatics I tell you!

Ok I feel better. On a positive note the next town over is getting a bigger and better liquor store!! 2500 sq ft. That perked me right up!

Zona: So glad you got rid of the bag pipes! Email me at myspace and let me know how you did it!

Bono: You are brilliant! I think we are now related because my last name will be (blank) too!

Mo: You Cheated??? Oh how dare you! LMAO

Tina: You are up and blogging early! Must have been A slow HO nite! ROFLMAO!

Ok have to go call a friend and I will be back!

  91. Good afternoon HOwls. Yes Bear it is a beautiful sunny day here too. I am all ready to collect eggs, but I have no where to go collect them. I will be going to my son's tomorrow, but no kids will be there, so no eggs. I hate that the kids are all grown up and both of them work at the movie theater and have to work tomorrow. We won;t see them til evening.

Congrats Mo even tho you cheated, you still got the blog up for us and that deserves #1. So Bobby Sherman is a Paramedic now? Quick someone call 9-1-1. I loved him, too.

Hi Zona. Glad you could finally feed your withdrawal.

MEK and Tinka, feel better soon.

Bon'O, Mary/MI & Vig, I will keep you posted if I hear from Patty.

Iteach, did you ever tell us how many kids you have in your class? I missed it if you did.

Shout out to Goldie, Scirish, LynnD,Birdee,Dreama,& EBJ, and everyone who posts after me.

I had all boys and they were NOT into the BB or PF so I had to watch them by myself while my Hubby and the boys watched some action thing or sports. But I have to confess that I wasn't a regular viewer. I did watch Here come the Brides, however, just for Bobby Sherman. And I still have a Bobby Goldsboro album. I also cried every time I heard Honey.

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone. I'll try to check in later.

  92. Hmmmmm~ i sit at work and snack~ and grow....hmmmmmm....where do you work? :)~ I have kept off those 8lbs I lost 3 weeks ago...surprisingly~ :) If they want to see your cards....then you're in like flint~ :)

  96. Hi Tinkatia,
Glad to see you up and about again. Hi Sacbarb
    and everyone!
I am doing a fly by. I am thrilled. My friend Steve just called me. He's here in town for Easter. I am so excited to see him. This will be the first time that I have seen him since his baby grandson passed away from the pool incident but I am just so thrilled that Steve is finally living life again. We've barely talked since Thanksgiving and now he's in the mood to go have dinner.

  97. zonababy
you snarl?! LOL. I find that hard to believe.

  98. OMG! 'weenie has corrupted being first! I'm still in shock!

TN-VIG: Hello! Yes, please use the line wherever and whenever appropriate! Especially when you use it with someone who knows where it comes from, it's totally fun!

Zona: What did you think of "The Brady Bears"? LOL!

SacBarb: Sorry about the dearth of eggs in your Easter tomorrow! I wish you could join me this afternoon at the egg party! And I have to admit, my favorite shows weren't BB or PF, but the Irwin Allen shows... Time Tunnel and Lost in Space. Where I grew up, north of Toronto, we only had one CBC station (this was pre-cable), so I didn't get to see Star Trek until we moved to Toronto in 1969.

Bobby Goldsboro! Ohhhhmmmmm! Huz and I always love to point out the amazingly loquacious lyrics in Honey, like

    "See the tree,
    how big its grown
It hasn't been so very long
    since it wasn't big!

    ROFLMAO!

Lynn D: OMG... I hate shopping too! We're kindred owls!

Y'all are making me smile with all these reminiscences about Tiger Beat, Fave, and 16 magazine! My sister is a year and a half older than me, and she and her peers were all over those mags. I remember one issue when they "introduced" David Cassidy.

Remember the outrage when Bobby Sherman announced that he'd been married for quite some time? LOL!

    OK... really gotta go

    ReplyDelete
  99. Okay...I've just caught up and Mo didn't really lose her virginity~ hmmmmmm~ :)~

I love the Brady Bunch~ When we gave up tv for Lent...that is the one show we were allowed to watch once a week! Peter was my favorite~ And Jan~ And I loved Tiger Beat~ I had over 1000 pictures of Shaun Cassidy on my wall~ I was going to marry him...yeah...that didn't happen~ :)~

VIG...I loved all those shows you listed~ :)

    Zona~ Glad you are back~

    LynnD~ LMBO at the Ho-Ho's~ :)~

Tinka~ glad you are feeling better~

    MEK~ you scare me~ :) Not really...I get it~

scirish~ Glad you got your Saturday right~ :)~ that really cracked me up~

  100. OK, I just found and watched "The Brady Bears". OMG!

Whab I never noticed the lyrics of "Honey", thanx for pointing out how profound "see the tree..." I got a big laugh!

I loved "Lost in Space" too, we used to laugh at the pet "chimp" thing, can't remember the name. I think it was called a "bloob" or something.

    Back later!

  101. hello everyone

I am having trouble with my dsl modem at home, I cannot connect to the internet. I stopped by the office to leave this msg.

I am going to call Verizon tonite to see if they can help my sick modem. I have purchased a new one today, so if they can't fix the sick one perhaps they can walk me thru connecting the new one.

    mo
Thank you for posting today's blog.
You are a sneaky owl crackwhore getting first thru seven. I am glad you confessed tho, as your sin has been forgiven..

  102. If I can't connect to the internet tonite, I will call Maureen and let her know.

I have to get going as tonite is the passion of christ at my church. It starts at 8 and its two hrs long, I want to try to call verizon before church.

    Wish me luck!

  103. Good Afternoon...

Mr. MEK called and woke me from the deepest sleep!! OMG -

Tinka - I agree about Carrie Underwood - I triple love her, that is the only reason that I bought the tickets!!! Wish you could go with us..

Tina - congrats on 100!! Why is it that people just assume that we "lay and wait"??

EBJ - I do remember the Cowsills.

Gosh - you all are making me have flash backs!! :-)

Gotta make brownies for the dinner tomorrow - (no, not Goldie's brownies - these are for a bunch of senior citizens!!!)

My golf is rained out - actually watched the last three minutes of West Virginia upsetting Duke today.

I hope everyone is having an excellent day so far!! (since it's almost evening on the east coast!!)

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes, what the heck??!! You go, Tina!!!

    Brownies are in the oven!!

    :-)

  105. Oh I guess I was a weirdling. I never put up pictures of teen stars in my room. However I did always wonder what they were thinking when they named a magazine Tiger Beat? Who was Tiger and what did he beat? LOL

When I was in High School I worked at the local theaters and drive-in. So I had pictures in my locker of Jon Voigt, Al Pacino, and Dustin Hoffman. Dustin Hoffman always made my heart flutter. My locker partner never appreciated those pics. He would tell me all the time that he hated opening our locker as the guys would all stop and stare at him and then glance at Al, Dustin and Jon and give him funny looks! LMAO

  106. Hello Owls!

Just popping in quickly to hopefully solve some of the MySpace mysteries.

    First and Last Name Box
Your real name isn't required, and what you enter won't change the display name on your page. You can enter any name in those two fields to get rid of the box.

    Bells and Fanfare
The Easter card posted by Linda in Squamish plays music when it loads, and it loads every time you view your profile page or someone else's so that might be the sound you're hearing.

    CAPTCHA Security Code
Removing the check mark from the box that says "Require CAPTCHA to add comments" will prevent others from always having to enter that code when they add a comment to your page, but it won't stop the random requirement. It's part of the new security measures MySpace has implemented to prevent spam. The requirement is coming from your account not the page you're trying to post a comment on (unless the person has that option selected). There's supposed to be some logic to how often your account requires you to enter CAPTCHA (for example, after every 10 comments you post), but so far, I haven't seen a pattern to that logic. ;)

    Annoying Advertisements
You can get rid of those advertisements by downloading Firefox and installing the "Adblock Plus" add-on. It will block all advertisements on MySpace and other websites. Advertisements can sometimes contain malicious code so that's one of the reasons why Firefox is considered a safer browser.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Carol if you read this before you get home I sent you a blog today and emailed it to myspace and you reg. email address. I hope you get it in time.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I am awake and up again. What a boring Holy Saturday this has been.
I always make 'Hot Cross Buns' for the family so they can have them for Sunday breakfast. I used to make them all through lent but then it got down to once or twice a season. This year there were none. Times change and so do people's energy, especially when they are not well. I am sure no-one would want to eat Hot Cross Buns made by a 'sickie'.

Amicus - Thanks for jumping in and helping with the techie problems. I think myspace stays awake at night thinking of things to do to confuse us. Maybe that's just my take on it.

Mek - Next time I am coming with you to see Carrie Underwood.

Since Maureen was honest I figure I must admit my obsession with "Full House". I have all 8 seasons on DVD and I have watched them twice. I love Uncle Jesse and little Michelle. By the end of Season 8, Jesse and Rebecca have five year old twins, Alex and Nick. I loved watching the kids grow.

    Have fun tonight little owls.

  111. Congrats on 1st Maureen!:)
I have had a BUSY and FUN day with my Aunt!
Oh, Carol-I LOVE Brady Bunch! I still have a crush on Berry Williams aka Greg Brady! hehe

Maureen-You share the first name of Miss Marcia herself! Were you named after her?lol

I see y'all had a TON of fun last night! I have TONS of comments to catch up on! Will do that later...or tomorrow!lol
HERE is a little bit about my day:

As I told y'all yesterday, my Aunt and I(at my request LOL)went to our local community type theatre and watched the fabulous documentary that is all abuzz on the internet lately, For the Bible tells me So!
AMAZING! I was so happy to also see so many young(presumeably straight) college guys from VA Tech coming out to support LGBT friends/family!

Here is a clip(done in cartoon style) from the documentary!
This is the only part that is cartoonish and cute..The rest is all real people, real lives, real stories! LOVED IT! I was so happy that my Aunt enjoyed it also...Truthfully, it even opened my eyes on some things! Fascinating!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj2-_tFXXT4

We also had yummy Greek food and a day of bargain hunting and laughing! BEAUTIFUL weather also!:)

Oh one other funny thing...We went to this little cafe/hookah bar! Well, my Aunt wanted a latte...She said she was offended when the girl told her she could smoke the flavored tobacco, but not her cigarette! LMAO
I had NEVER been into a hookah bar and not so sure I understand it honestly! LOL
It's a little "hippy-ish" which is fine, I just wanna understand it all! We also went to Goodwill in a neighboring city for the first time! OMG I will upload the pic of this NEAT owl picture! LOL..I didn't get it(have too much crap now), but thought of you all when I saw it! So, I snapped a pic of it!

P.S. I saw TONS of eye candy today!;)hehe
    I think I'm still drooling!
    Off to rest some...LOL

I have some video/pics from today..May post them somewhere this week! LOL

  113. lynnD:OMG me too! I hate shopping honestly! LOL

I still like thrift shops, etc.(oh and we saw one yard sale-boring! LOL)

But when it comes to actual shopping, even grocery shopping, I'm not like the typical gay male! I DESPISE it!

Wedding Date or When Harry Met Sally..

LOVE them both.. but maybe Harry a little better!!

I'll have what she's having!! YES.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Bono - do you get the oxygn channel?? harry and sally come on at 6pm...

Lynn - I took those pics outside the craft stores as a joke for my obsession blog!! :-) Now, I should take pictures of what I bought inside each of the stores!!! LOL - just so you can SEE for yourselves - just how bad the obsession is!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wow..is it HOT outside! MEK, is it hot down where you are too? All the chocolate I didn't buy for me it melting!!

TINA: Snail mail is on it's way! It's only a month late! ;)

TINKA: Check your email I have GREAT news!!

I went to Michaels and bought things I won't ever use again. But since I'm willing it all to TINA, I know someone someday will use it! LOL!

WHABBEAR: Email me about the Brady Bears..cuz I couldn't get in!!

VIG: Have fun tonight and be good..or good at it!

JOEY: A little drooling never hurt anyone...!!

SACBARB: Are you done packing yet? I am so happy for you, being able to spend time in Hawaii...just a bit jealous too!

    ReplyDelete
  118. YES, Zona - it is hot down here near the border - I wore flip-flops today - but don't tell those in the blizzard areas!!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Zona - I checked and it is great news. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  120. MEK you crack me up!

Joey: You and I would get along great! Love Garage Sales, Auctions, Estate sales and thrift stores. But I really am hating to shop in Dept. Stores and Gross-ry stores drive me crazy!! I have a hot flash everytime I walk into one! LOL

WTF you Aunt could not smoke a cigarette in a Hookah bar??? I'm pretty sure they smoke tobacco in those things. Did we legalize Mary Jane and no one told me or is Virginia just a swinging state! I am so confused. Blowing tobacco smoke from a hookah is ok but not a cigarette! That is nuts!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Whab, I'm confused about bears.

Watching the Brady Bears made me start thinking. What is the difference, and how do you tell, a bear, cub, daddy, etc?

"They all look the same to me!!" haha.

Is there a G-rated explaination you could give? (if not you can send to me on email or Myspace).

I don't want Tinka washing your mouth (or mine!) out with soap!

  123. LYNND: Did you get rid of your bagpipes?

EBJ: An avacado tree? how cool is that? Nothing but citrus really grows here. At least not for me.

I remember the Cowsills too, but never really listened to them very much--except for "Hair"..they seemed a little more serious to me.

TINKA: Ain't it great? I was so excited!

CPGEM: Thank you again for Laguna..you're the best.

  124. Hey Feathered Friends!!

I just got back from errands. I went to the Dollar Store and found amazing packs of scrapbook pages. 6 big coordinating sheets for a dollar! And packs of mounting (not that kind, WHABBY) squares for a buck!

Then I went to MEKals to get supplies for a project I am looking for. They had tons of scrapbook pages for .25 and other sheets for .10!! woo hoo!

ITEACH...I also went looking for postcards. WTF, I couldn't find any! I will keep looking.

Hope everyone had a great day today!

In case I don't get back tonight...
    HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER.

    ReplyDelete
  125. East Bay: The daddies (older bears) and cubs (younger guys) are easy, but what a bear is, exactly, gets debated!

My observation following a random sample of bears at the egg party:

A bear is someone who identifies with the bear community. The prototype is a husky cute guy with a wide, nicely symmetric, friendly face, sparkling eyes, carefully manicured dark beard, and a chest with fur to die for.

Sort of an equal blend of Sebastian Cabot, Richard Karn, and Arn Anderson.

OK. Well. Maybe I'm pulling the prototype bear a little bit in my preferred direction, but you get the idea!

And admirers of same, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Zona, yes, we now have 4 avocado trees. The one we got today is HUGE!

We have a lemon and an orange tree, the lemon tree was loaded, the orange tree had 1 orange. I didn't have the heart to pick it, so it's still on the tree!

We also have grapes. The previous owners planted a little mini-vineyard, so we will be eating lots of grapes this summer.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Whab, thanks.

It makes sense. Is your huz considered a daddy or a bear?

Zona, did I mention that I don't eat avocados? My huz loves them, in a year or so will be in avocado heaven.

I see huge bowls of guacamole taking over my refridgerator!

    ReplyDelete
  128. Good evening all...

  137. Many years after The Brady Bunch was done - Alice became a nun or something with the Episcopal Church and worked for the Bishop in Denver - they came to our church one Sunday - It was pretty weird to see Alice sitting right there in the pew in front of us!!

  145. I flew in to catch up and to say good night.
    I am confused.
I don't know whether we are discussing---
    A) different fruit trees.
    B) descriptions of bears.
    C) Porkchops with or without apple sauce, (definitely with)
    D) How sexy Dermot Mulrooney is?
    E) What is deserving of having one's mouth washed out with soap. (I hope that isn't always going to be my job. I am a peace keeper at heart.)

Someone who is all ready for Easter and has time on her/his hands please message me and explain what the topic is tonight. Maybe I have had too many meds. Whatever it is, it sounds like you are all having fun. I will fly quietly away and sleep until I wake up healthy on Easter Sunday morning. Hope the Easter Bunny still comes to your house. He does to mine. As long as a part of you stays 6 years old, he will always come to visit. Good Night. God bless all the little owls and their babies.
    Love, Tinka
