Celebrate Life

today i would like to celebrate life
how wonderful it really is and how
very lucky we are

i shall quote barbwa

"I do agree though that it is a life to be celebrated.
She is no longer in pain, and for that we can all be grateful."

aunt jo was a amazing woman
she had a zest for life, and a passion
to live it

she traveled all over the world
and lived in many places, yet
always came back to her family

my cousin arleen is her only child,
aunt jo has passed onto her daughter
the virtue of life, the goodness of people
and to always savor a good glass
of wine

so to you aunt jo, i raise a glass
of wine, and celebrate your life
and thank you for the amazing
memories that will grow in my
heart forever

and to all of you, who have lost
love ones, i celebrate their life
and what they have given you

in the words of aunt jo
"yes my love" that was her
catchphrase, one i will always
remember and cherish~~

life~~a celebration!

  14. Good Morning Owls! I finally have most of my feeling in my back again. It has been a rough few days, as I was simply sitting and drinking coffee when my back decided to have a spasm. Scary!! (and YES, I did go to the doctor.)

My house is a wreck and I have a lot to do to get ready for the Easter Bunny to bounce into town, but I don't mind a bit. It is a rare occasion that we get to spend a holiday just together as our family and nobody else. I am looking forward to it. Dying eggs, hunting for plastic eggs, baking a ham with scalloped potatoes and asparagus... just another reason to celebrate life and family and good times together.

And celebrating the ability to walk again.

Hope you all have a great day. Don't take the little stuff for granted!

  50. Blessed Good Friday All, especially dear Carol. I raise my first coffee of the morning to your Aunt Jo. "To Life!!" And, when the time comes, to be freed FROM this life for something better. What a symbolic day Aunt Jo chose to make that transition. I'd like to think that somewhere my Aunt Carol, who passed last week, is there to take her hand and say "Come with me, new friend. Wait 'til you see this place!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks for all the well wishes concerning me and Custard. When I finally am with him I think I will feel like I am on an old-time radio show you all are out there listening in. LOL OK, I really do have to tear myself away and start doing things, like pick up stuff at the cleaners, go over pet care instructions, pack, etc., etc.

Carol I'm so glad you had Aunt Jo in your life. What a treasure. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  52. LynnD~ LMAO "Meckals"!

When I went to take a quick shower you were at 17!
I forgot we were going to the American Legions last fish dinner today. I'm sure If I think hard enough I can think of another reason not to do housework LOL!

Joey I love all the sales you mentioned! I usually don't buy, but I get a good idea on what things are worth. You never know when that info. will come in handy, especially at tag sales and auctions, or even things you have at home. It's nice to know what they are worth. I love the Antique Road Show.

I better do my hair before it poofs" up into something unrecognizable!

Here is the link to the neat lyric theatre also! My Aunt and I saw the musical "HAIR" here about 10 yrs. ago! Yes, it had nudity! haha
My uncle acted stupid about it!

They have renovated the space above it and made these amazing apartments(I saw pics online last year)! I want to go up and see them in person! All the rich parents of the VA Tech kids can afford to put them up there! haha
I think rent is like $3,000 per month or something astronomical!

    LYRIC THEATRE in VA

    Really stepping away this time..

    ReplyDelete
  60. Joey, one of these days I'm going to learn how to do that!( MEK's sign add on) I'm not too swift in that dept.

  61. Carol:

"Aloha wau a ia oe, me ke pumehana"

I raise a glass of Dom Perignon, and toast a woman that obviously left her footprint on your soul...
Cherish the laughter and love she leaves as her imprint on your life.
And know that she may not be physically with you, but every day you will see a sign, and it will be her!

IBB: Thanks for marching in my place

Hoping everyone of the hooters has a peaceful day. Life is too short, cherish it all.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Carol...I am so sorry for your loss. I hold my cup of chai high (sorry I don't drink the other stuff) and toast your wonderful aunt. And I love your celebration of her and of life.

I saw the movie the Bucket List last night that is exactly about that...celebrating life and living in the moment. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a good one!

I'd love to write my usual novel but you all have made me really hungry...I am heading to the mall to look for chocolate Easter anything!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. WOW! Did someone put up a 'FOR RENT' sign at the nest? 2 1/2 hours of nothin'?

Just stopping in to re-read over lunch.

WhabBunny ~~ You said "Fun! Fun! Fun! Ho! Ho! Ho! Oh, wait. That's a Christmas expression. Oh, well. You owls have made it appropriate year round!"

All you have to do is 'p' on it to make it an Easter expression....HOp, HOp, HOp!!

I have to share something I just saw that I've NEVER seen before in my life, and it was beautiful. At least a dozen golden butterflies swooping and circling swiftly back and forth together in the sunshine. Is it Spring? Is it a sign? Of what? Hmmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  65. NEAT BONO!:)Wished you would've had the video camera rolling!

The nest has been rather "empty" today!

scirish: You're getting a day ahead of yourself?haha...Saturday?

The funny thing is that yesterday DID seem like Friday and today Saturday-and I'm NOT the first to say that!?I hear twilight zone music! LMAO

    doo doo doo doo...haha

    ReplyDelete
  66. Joey~~ No 'doo-doo' in the nest! If Whab 'p's and you doo-doo, the HO*MEK sisters will get hurt during the next march!

    ReplyDelete
  79. mek~There are a lot of foolish drivers out there. i drive like the little old lady that I am LOL!

Yesterday I had a first. A man on a bike who was all bundled up pulled out in front of me and stayed on the black top. He never even looked up before turning! I almost ran into him! I know gas prices are high, but 30' weather is too cold on a bike! We live out in the boonies BRRRRR!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Good grief MEK I was typing while you were marching LOL!! Go back to bed girl!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Mary - I wondered where you went!!

  91. Hi everyone. I have been sitting here reading and toasting (*hic) Aunt Jo. Sounds like she enjoyed life and would approve.

Jodi and I had to cancel lunch and now I am pissed-we only got 6 inches -where is the 12 inches I was promised!! *hic

mary/mi- you have to google Madison, WI. Capital of bike riding. In the sun, sleet, snow and all around shit. No little blizzard is going to stop the bike riders around here!

Off to make some dinner. Tacos- now is that a red wine *hic* or white wine dinner?
    :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Goldie LMAO sounds like you are having an "it doesn't matter what the hell your drinking" dinner!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Carol, it sounds like Aunt Jo had a great life and lived it to the fullest!

just_lin, I'm so excited for you!!!

Joey, it brought a smile to my face when you mentioned South of the Border! OMG, how does that place stay in business?? It's so gross!! It's a landmark, though, huh?

MEK, your avitar (is that what it's called?) is so cute! And the one Joey made for you is even better! Feel better.

Glynis, so glad your back is better.

    Dreama, I love Cadbury eggs!

IBB, you reminded me of my Mom--her sisters worked in a drug store and after Easter they would bring her all that half price candy--like those pecan eggs with the white cream in the middle and tons of jelly beans! And my Mom was and still is a bean pole!! Not fair.

iteach, I'm still collecting stuff to send you.

Have a great Friday night everyone. I'm off to play Bunko.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I think you need margritias (sp) with tacos!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Beef ( shhhhh dont tell) taco's and margarita's it is!!! *hic

    ReplyDelete
  96. Joey,
That is too funny. I play the Twilight Zone music in one particular case but you aren't involved, um...yet. LOL.
    Sandie,
I could only find orange and caramel Cadbury eggs this year and I couldn't find the beautiful decorated chocolate eggs with the pink and yellow iced ribbons.
    Goldie
um Prevacid goes with tacos when I make them. :0)
For you wintry owls I guess I better blow some of our sunshine your way.
Okay, got to take this baked chicken out of the oven.

  100. OMG...the Wizard of Oz is on t.v.right now..I am 48 years old and that wicked witch of the west frightened the s*#t out of me when I was a child and still does. It's the cackle!!!

iteach and everyone that lives in the same part of the world...I just heard on the news that you are having horrific weather conditions today..storms and now floods...hope you are all safe, dry and warm!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Just flying in for a bit.

Joey: So glad I inspired you! LOL I love the store you created for MEK.

Bono: When my Aunt Joyce (Mom's Sis) was ready to pass away she kept telling us the she would come back as a butterfly. Every family gathering we have it never fails a butterfly shows up and lands on someone. So I am guessing you saw my aunt and all of her friends getting ready to find us this year!

MEK: I layed down and took a long nap too! Woke up feeling like crap! It is not fair. I have been fighting a raging headache all day.

I hope goldie make an extra pitcher of margaritas for the nest! I think I could really use one.

    ReplyDelete

  104. BON - Butterflies was kind of the theme at my Aunt Karen's funeral (the one with MS). So I always imagine that she is near when I see one. For what she went thru with that disease, it gives me joy thinking that she is as free as a butterfly!!!

  105. I did Carolyn's nursery in butterflies.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I just love it them fluttering all over her room.

    ReplyDelete
  107. MEK- no Mr. Goldie's idea.

Thanks for not telling the Pope iteach. I would hate to be the one who caused his demise!

    Tequila and brownies for all!

  108. iteach:

Mom said they have gotten about 7 inches but that it has stopped up there.

  109. Good night all you HOoters!!! I open this weekend - so I best get my beauty sleep!!!

GOLDIE - Looking forward to next Friday. The kids have spring break all next week - so I'm sure by then I'll need a couple cocktails!!! LOL!!

  111. Good evening little Owlettes,
lynnd, I woke up a about an hour ago with a headache too. Guess it serves me right, taking a nap this time of the evening.

The wine and the margaritas sure sound good about now.
lol at goldie not wanting to be the cause of the Popes demise.

turtle, Isn't you mom in Illinois?
I saw that it was pretty bad up there with all that snow.

iteach, the room with butterflies sounds sweet.

    joDI, how are you?

There's nothing on television, and I'm a little tired of Rachel Rays travels. Actually a little tired of Rachel Ray.

  112. hi vig, I like WOO too. It was those monkeys thjat scared me, along with that witch.

    ReplyDelete
  113. OMG you guys. Are you telling me the butterflies were my Aunt Carol, Carol's Aunt Jo, LynnD's Aunt Joyce, Jodi's Aunt Karen, and their friends? If so, what a beautiful image and I am honored that they chose to visit me. Not sure I'll ever see butterflies again without thinking of all of you.

The Sound of Music starts here in under an hour. (On FAMily Channel, VIG--do you have it?) I discovered I no longer have TCM, so no Wizard for me. I would have enjoyed 'The Secret Garden' after. Another favorite memory book. Titanic is on tonight, too. Feast or famine TV!

I wish I could share the evening sun that's starting to stream in right now. Enough with the snow already!!! I smell barbecues firing up and hear after-work lawn-mowing going on all around me. Hey, look on the bright side, tundra dwellers. You don't have to mow and fertilize snow! I know, that was a stretch...just trying to cheer you up :o).

  115. VIG - as a child, I could NOT watch the Wizard of Oz and I still to this day have not seen the movie in it's entirety (hoping I spelled that correctly) - when the neighbor(wicked witch) comes to take Toto away on her bike in the little basket and that scary music would start - I would run into another room.. (just ask IBB) -

I'll have to look for the Sound of Music on one of our channels - LOVED that movie!!!

Goldie - I guess since you didn't get 12 inches, you'll just have to settle for 6 twice!! :-)

Lynn D - sorry you have a headache - it sucks to be sick..

Jodi - get some rest and drive safely to work ...

    ReplyDelete
  116. Ronnie...I agree...the monkeys and Rachel Ray...both in the not so good category with the witch!!!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Carol:

I can't hang any longer..plus my Aunt wants us to get up rather early and the more I look at this screen, the more my eyes burn lol

Oh and the other reason it'll be more special Carol, is because with his new job out of state, we don't even talk as much as we once did! I hate it!!:(

  137. Bono...I often find when I am out for a walk, if I think about my Mom, almost every time, very soon a butterfly comes by. A coincidence....maybe... but one that ALWAYS makes me feel better! I like to think that as amazing and beautiful as she was on this planet, her spirit has been transformed into something amazing and beautiful. As soon as I read what you wrote about the butterflies flying near you, I thought it must be your aunt coming close to let you know she is okay. Glad it made you feel springlike and happy!
And thanks, I checked the Family channel here...no SOM,but maybe it's on later...so boo hoo, for now it's WOO!

MEK...Hope you are feeling better! You're right that is the worst part..when she takes Toto - and that laugh is bad too. I think that actresses name is Margaret Hamilton and in the 70's or 80's, she was in a coffee commercial, and she still freaked me out....she looked so witchy!

    ReplyDelete
  138. I have to work on tomorrows blog, and then I am off to bed.

Hope everyone has a great nite..

Please remember, blog's are always welcomed, You have been hearing from me as I have not received any blog's from you dear owls....

So if anyone, feels like writing, please do so...

And I can surely use the help!

    Thanks....

    ReplyDelete
  147. Evening hugs, Carol. Bet you rest better tonight.

Ronnie~~Keep missing you here. Great night to you!

MEK~~I'll be singing "I am sixteen, going on seventeen" if I watch. Got some other activities going on here, so may just have it in the background.

I never am able to figure out why MOST childrens' movies are so scary. Witches (Hansel & Gretel was my first movie), monsters, parents murdered or threatened (Bambi, Lion King, Nemo, etc.)

    iTeach~~I'm still gathering :o)

    Glynis~~Keep getting better!

    IBB~~Smile?
