A push is always good!

sometimes we need a push
if we want to do something and
just don't believe we are capable
we need a push

there have been many times in
my life, where i did not think i
was capable of doing something
i just did not have the confidence
to proceed

i needed a push, it is usually not just
one person, as in different times i
need a different pusher, all might
say the same, however only one will
stand out, and i will take the push from
that one person

when i think back on my life, i realize now
that any and all my endeavors would
have not been, if i did not receive that
very needed push, it completes my
decision, it makes me brave!

a decision had to be made regarding
my dad, i was not strong enough
to make it on my own, i needed a push
my dearest middle nephew gave me
the most endearing push, i grabbed
onto it, and held it tightly

i only wish, that perhaps someday i could
feel strong enough about myself, perhaps
get the confidence to believe in me
without hesitation, as this would allow
me to make that decision on my own

i always say "baby steps" as then you
can ease thru things, without to much of
a struggle

for now i will welcome the push
and just take it slowly
learning a new way is always hard
however i think
baby steps and time will help~~

  2. CAROL - I think we all struggle with confidence at times. But the "baby step" concept is a great idea!!! I'm glad you have people in your life that can give you the push that you need!!!

I hope everyone has a great Monday. The sun is out here and it's going to be a warm day....suppose to get into the mid 70's!!! Off to find a new spring purse......treating myself.....because I have the confidence to know that I deserve it!!!

I have been struggling with this all week... My friend I just lost in January was my "pusher".. I have had some things i really need to talk about... she was the one... I could pass anything by her ... she would not judge... but give me the confidence to do whatever... I miss soooo much... I have had a really bad week.... i need my friend.. I just miss having someone that I could tell anything to...
O.K. HAve a great day all... at work...

  7. Morning Glories!

Ooooh Jodi you are up and about early! Congrats on first!!

Hi IBB hope the bear has left your yard!

Whabby you wild man you! I thought you meant something entirely different when you said you pole dance! :)

Carol somethings I need a push. Like seeing the doctor or dealing with health issues! Usually my Husband and friends have to not only push me but load me into the wheel barrow too.

Now when it comes to other things like accepting a promotion at work or when I volunteered to be on the board of our historical society. I usually jump in and say yes and repent at my leisure!

I don't think it was an over confidence thing it was a I can't say no thing! LOL

I am finally working on that and trying to be more choosy about what I say yes to!

It never hurts to have friends and family give a push when they truly believe you can do something! Yay for them. Often times they know us better than we know ourselves!

I have a lot to do today. I will try to make it back later gang. Waving a wing at everyone as they wake up and check in!

  9. Good morning!

    Yay, Jodi was first today!

    Hi Carol and IBB!

I've always been a procrastinator, my motto was and still is "why do today what you can put off til tomorrow".

I have a really casual attitude, and it's not always a bad thing.

I can credit my mom for being the one to push, tho. She is totally opposite of me and likes to get things done. It's a pretty funny contrast when we're together.

A good example happened just a few months ago when we moved to our new house. My mom came and spent a few days to help get things straightened out (she loves to organize).

She'd suggest putting this piece of furniture here or there, I'd say fine. I didn't really have a plan and would have been happy just putting the stuff away when I got to it.

Not mom! Things got organized pretty quick. I did end up rearranging some things, although it was some time after we moved in.

My mother in law is coming over today, we are trying to talk her into moving closer (she's in Sacramento), so may take her out and show her places she could move. Then we'll take her out for lunch.

Have a great day! I'll check in later!

  13. Jodi: Tried to comment back to you this morning but MS is having fits on my computer. Snow is gone and we have sunshine but won't get anywhere near your 70 degrees today! I will take the sun tho!

    Shirley: Thank you for breakfast!

EBJ: I am a work under pressure person also! I am starting some major spring cleaning today because people are coming to visit. I have put it off until I can't anymore. (sigh)

    ReplyDelete
  14. LYNN D - I wanted to leave more comments, but ms is all wonky for me, too all of a sudden. Good when you're done......you can come help me with mine!!! :P

  15. I am related to MEK..And procrastination is our middle name!!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Jodi & LynnD: I am someone who also works really well under pressure.

When I was enrolled in the bachelors degree program, we had to write papers constantly. I usually would wait til the day before and then would work like crazy.

I always did really well that way, and got good grades.

If I tried to plan what I was going to write ahead of time, I couldn't do it, and would struggle with ideas.

Thanx for the breakfast Shirley! BURP! OOPS excuse me, it was delish!

  17. JODI!!!!!!!!! Pick me up a purse when you go........
    Congrats on 1st!

Good moring to Jodi, ibb, lynn, shirley, ebj. Hope all you fine ladies are doing well this morning. It is going to be another gorgeous day here like Jodi said. Loving it!

Depends on the day and the situation as far as confidence goes. I think sometimes I have bravado then confidence, but since I do it convinces others. Make sense?

Anyway, back to work-0 have a wonderful day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh, I work the BEST under pressure! If I have a deadline all the better.

    ReplyDelete
  19. it would make more sense if I said, I have MORE bravado then confidence. At least you would understand the statement. Geez-not enough coffee yet.

  20. thank you for the rose Shirley. I have never had a lobster omelete, but I am more than willing to try! Whole wheat toast on the side.

It's the getting started that is the hard part!

While you ladies are out purse shopping, I'll take a "man-purse" or "man bag" please! LMAO

  31. Happy Monday Owls. Looks like we are going to have a beautiful sunny day here in Sac.

Jodi: congrats on #1. Good luck with your purse shopping.

LynnD: I have a hard time saying 'no' too, which is why I now feel I am so over-extended that I am going to have to gracefully get out of at least one of my commitments. I have to work on saying 'no.'

Shirley: Thanks for breakfast and the beautiful rose. Nice touch. I'll take a veggie omlette and tea.

Waving a wing at EBJ, Goldie, Joey, and MEK and all who land after me.

I am off to run some errands. Have a wonderful day everyone. Be back later.

  32. Taking a quick break and checking in.....could this be procrastination??? Ummm yeah!

I am now trying to figure out where I can cut corners on this cleaning gig! LOL

Hodi: I will gladly help you clean. I don't have any problem cleaning at other peoples houses it is just MINE that is the problem! LMAO

SacBarb: Our new motto should be "No No No!" Dammit I said No!

Joey: Get a messenger bag! I hear this is the new man purse! Mr. Lynn D has a wallet. It is the only thing in his back pocket that makes him look like he has an ass! I think this is why he clings to it! LMAO

MEK: Only spent a mere pittance at MEKals! Whew will wonders never cease!

    IBB: Sending you some (((Hugs)))!

    Ok back to drudgery!

    ReplyDelete
  33. PS I think I need a big push today!

  35. Mornin' Owls!

Hodi The first to give us a "hoot" today. Congrats! I need a new spring purse, also. Just get me one like yours, OK?

Shirley What a luscious assortment of omelets. I'll have a veggie with wheat toast and coffee. Thanks so much.

I, like many of you, am a procrastinator. It worked well for me in school and it seems to work for me now. When preparing for a trip, my husband used to get out the suitcases about a week ahead of time and start putting stuff into his. Not me! I deal with it the night before we leave. Some things, like hair products and make-up, I can't pack til the actually day of the trip anyway. I have never forgotten anything.

    His screen name is
    Dart 69 Ragtp LOL

My first car was a VW but my fav car was an red MR2.

Hope everyone is having a great day.
It's a gorgeous day here in Cambridge.I'm heading outside to soak up some rays.
    xox

    ReplyDelete
  37. Lynn D It makes perfect sense to me to procrastinate about cleaning house for company. If you do it too soon, it just gets messed up again, anyway. :)

This is why I could never be a good hostess of a large dinner party. I am lousy at getting things ready well ahead of time. We have a big holiday dinner but it is very casual. I would be too stressed out to enjoy it, otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Shirley
Thank you so much for the breakfast. I am going to be a total brat and sample all of the omelets because I just can't decide on one.
    Ibebold
I am sorry to hear that you lost your friend. I lost my friend, my confident at Cristmas. That void is hard to fill but we were so lucky to have had them in our lives during the years that we did.
    JoHoey
You can get kind of a purse. You can get a back satchel or that waist pouch purse that a lot of men wear these days.
    Renee Eve, Notmercy, & DonnaJean
I wish you a very wonderful day!

  39. Carol: Another great topic. Sometimes I am confident in my decisions and sometimes, rather than a push, I just need someone to confirm that my decision is the right one.

Even though I am the younger sister, I have always been the one to have to make decisions concerning my parents. My sister is the procrastinator in that regard. When my mother fell and broke her hip, my sister wasn't sure whether to call for a doctor appointment or call 911. So she took her to the doctor's office and 5 hours later they decided her hip was broken and sent her to the hospital. In the meantime, my mother was in a lot of pain for which they only gave her Tylenol. That was the last decision about our parents that I let her make.

I do put off things I don't like to do, however, like cleaning the house. I keep it picked up, but heavy duty stuff, I put off as long as I can.

  40. Carol great blog. I am the pusher. I am the go getter. I've always been that way.I can remember being that way even at age 10. My Mom taught us as small children do not put the word can't into our vocabulary. We weren't allowed to give up and just say we can't.That was Mom's rules. My Dad was a military man and I had a good role model all of my life. I watched him set out to accomplish so much and achieve his desires and goals so it never entered my mind that I couldn't do it also. Over the years I've had a handful of careers that spun in way opposite directions and I was always up for the challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  41. LynnD: I will practice 'no, dammit'

Waving a wing at J/L, Lovey. and Dreama. Now I am really off (but I'm sure you all knew that)

  42. I am getting a late start this morning so I am sending out a Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening to all owls every where.

I have a very busy week and will not be on the blog much but I will be here in spirit.

My sister was the one who always pushed me, she was the "Wind Beneath My Wings". Her biggest accomplishment was pushing me to get out of bed when my husband left our home 20 years ago. If it wasn't for her I may still be there. Now she pushes me from Above. I know she is still here with me.
Have a great day everyone. I am off to spend the day with my mom.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Good Monday, Owls~~My first reaction to Carol's blog and all of your posts was a rather simplistic admission that I, too, have always done my best work under pressure. Then, I realized that, being prone to procrastination, I've always worked under pressure, so how would I know? I wonder...How much better work might I do if I didn't procrastinate. Maybe I'll try that.........later.

Then, as I gave your posts more thought (which enjoyably kept me from doing other things), I had a much more profound reaction~~which, surprisingly, left me feeling kind of teary and 'hormonal'. Where did THAT come from? I'll think about it a bit and maybe be back later if I can find words.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good Morning Owls!!

I need to be pushed...actually drop kicked...to get off this computer and clean my house. It is a mess after a weekend of fun at home with the family and doggies going out in the snowy mud and tracking it into the kitchen.

MEK~ Thanks for posting the photos of you and Barb! Looks like a lot of fun was had by all (especially that elephant statue! Oh my!)

Joey~ What color is your man skirt so we know what color man purse you need?

Hope you all have a wonderful day!! SOmeone PLEASE send some warm weather to the PNW!! I want to play out in the garden without losing a limb to frostbite.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is a tough one for me. I have very little confidence in myself or my decisions. I am always second guessing myself. I try not to bother my friends cause they have issues of their own to decide on. I am 45 and should be able to decide things for myself, but I haven't done a very good job. I have nudgers in my life but not pushers. Ibb I envy you for having someone that you could share anything with. I'm sorry you lost her. There are things I would like to share but I'm afraid of judgements and reactions so I keep them to myself.

I'm glad you all liked the roses and omelettes. Let's see what I can come up with tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Happy Sunny Monday afternoon to everyone!! It's 80 degrees here in Phx..and just a beautiful day.

CPGEM: Oh, I am so one that needs, not a push, but a shove to do things. A simple example would be this blog. It took four or five people, weeks to convince me that I could actually, maybe write a blog. I had absolutely no confidence in myself. As everyone who really knows me can tell you, it will always take that shove to get me to attempt something.

When it comes to others though, I am their biggest cheerleader..assuring them they can do anything..egging them on..backing them up. I think I truly believe in everyone...except me. I have perfected "Do as I say, not as I do." I've got that down to a science!

Great topic CPGEM..it really hits home.

Now off to read the comments!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow! all you procrastinators would send me into cardiac arrest!!! I am neurotically anal...The suitcases come out 2 weeks before, my lists have lists, I'm always early and...well you get the picture!! I do have self confidence issues at time tho (well ok, a lot) I'm trying to get jewelry ready for a show in FL and I keep second guessing myself, same thing on the house project. I have to keep telling myself that it doesn't matter about the jewelry and I'm doing the best I can on the house...Myself doesn't appear to be listening tho

  49. JODI: FIRST! You go girl!! Love it!! It was great talking to you too..say HI to Mr. JODI for me. :)

IBB: Sending you big {{HUGS}} and hoping that this week is a better one for you.

LYNND: I'm the same way about going to the doctor..especially if I really think something is wrong. A check up?? That's fine..but to go with an actual symptom?? eeekkk!

SHIRLEY: Thank you for the red rose! I always second, third fourth guess myself. Don't ever be afraid to share.

EBJ: I procrastinate too. Especially when it comes to mailing things. I sent one friend her Valentine's package at Easter..and I almost missed that. I find though, when Mr. Z tries to put things off..I'll go and start doing things myself. He doesn't appreciate the 'push' though. ;)

GOLDIE: LOL!! When JODI wrote she was going purse shopping, I immediately thought of you! :)

JOEY: I agree..once I get started on something..I really tear into it until it's done. (why does that sound like I'm eating a steak?) If it has to be mailed though..well it may sit here awhile...;)

MEK: LOL at 24 and 30!! Look how wonderful your Rodeo tags turned out, and I know you procrastinated on those. They were terrific!

LOVEY: Congrats on 20 years! Will your owl get a new outfit for the occasion? ;)

J/LIN: I start getting things ready, then I go off to do something else..and something else until the thing that really needs to be done first, ends up getting done last. And if you followed that..!! :)

SACBARB: I made all the decisions regarding my mom's health too. Even when we were living in Ca. and my brother and sister lived here...I would fly in to get her to go to the doctor.

TINKA: Your sister is your angel, and is always with you. Have a wonderful week...but get some rest too. It was great to talk to you this afternoon.

BON'O: I had the hormonal tears yesterday..and ended up with a black eye! Sending you a {{HUG}} and I hope you feel better.

GLYNIS: LOL @ 'drop kicked'!! Congrats on 50!!

DIANNE: No more parties..until the next one. ;)

JOEY - I think a hip messenger bag is exactly what you need!!! I have several customers that carry their "man bag"!!

  66. IBB You swooped in on that with perfect timing. How do you do it?

Zona I'm the same way when it comes to actually seeing a doctor when something is wrong. I so hope I will just "get over it" whatever "it" is.

Regarding procrastination: I was told months ago that I should get special pillow covers because of my asthma. I'm also not supposed to have feather/down pillows but that's not going to change. Anyway, I finally bought the covers a week ago and THEY'RE STILL NOT ON THE PILLOWS. Am I procrastinating or am I stubborn? Not sure.

  67. Glynis.....
I packed some sunsine in my bag to bring back to the PNW, but when security searched my bag they let it all out when they opened it. Damn them all to hell!!!!

Scrish: I used to be very anal about my house. It drove everybody crazy. I would follow them around and bitch and bitch. Now I have moved to far the other direction and just let everything go.... wish I could find an lax-anal balance!

Okay, I must get back to work and prioritize what I am going to put off until tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Jodi! I didn't see you mention what kind of purse you got me!! haha

JL & Zona, I have things still in packages too. I have a bra I ordered and decided I didn't like it, it's still sitting in the package. I don't want it but don't want to bother returning it.

It will sit til I get a load ready for Good Will, then will get donated.

We just took my mother in law out to lunch at a new Chinese buffet. It was so good, they had baked salmon and several different types of shrimp.

We had to laugh, they also have cheese pizza, deviled eggs, sausage, hash browns and garlic bread.

And those excellent Chinese desserts, apple pie and cream puffs!

    A little something for everyone!

  84. I lacked confidence in myself and dating for the longest time.

After my boyfriend died, I didn't even have confidence to breathe.

There was a period were I didn't even take baby steps, I just stood still, frozen.

I am grateful for all the people who gently pushed during that time. Some of them had to use a bulldozer!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Jodi did you get a new purse?

Oh, Shirley, thanks for the rose!

    ReplyDelete
  86. OOOps, I just read the comments and I see Jodi got her purse!

    ReplyDelete
  87. That was so much fun reading who needs pushes and who are
the go getters in this group!

    ReplyDelete
  88. EBJ: I'll often do the same thing as you do, donate things rather than return them.

J/LIN: I expected you to jump out there any minute!

VIG: It was more a slow walk to 100..I kept looking for IBB or JODI but they never emerged!

ITEACH: I feel so bad that you lost someone you loved so much, and at such a young age. The bulldozer analogy is such a good one. Sometimes it sure feels like you need that, doesn't it???

    ReplyDelete
  89. What a great topic! I know several of you that I would like to give a push!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Scirish' post from yesterday
    - I am running a day late. I need someone to give me a push. I was too busy to write about my first car yesterday but I just posted a picture of it on myspace. I began teaching in September 1956 and I needed a car. I was in love with the Nash Metropolitans and my dad helped me get a good deal on a new 1957. It cost $1300. It was green and white and I called her Esmerelda. I was so proud of it. I loved that car and where ever she is now I still love her. I drove it until 1963 when I bought a red Nash Rambler. I never wanted to lose my little Metro. It had 46,000 miles on it when I stopped driving it. That included my niece's driving it and later my kids. It sat in the garage for years. I had many requests from people wanting to buy it but I wanted to have it all redone so I could join the English Car Club with my brother in law. He has a '66 Rover like the Queen had. I couldn't find anyone to work on it here and finally a friend said he knew someone up island who would work on it for me. I had it towed away 10 years ago. I had tears in my eyes as it left.. I kept sending money to this unknown man until the day I decided I was dropping money down a hole and I told him I would sell it to him. That was the end of my baby. It was the biggest mistake I ever made. When I see like- new Nash Metropolitans at the English car shows I have to look away. Mine could have looked like that if I had just found the right person to help me. It wasn't meant to be. My friend Ron gave me a miniature Nash that looks exactly like mine. It sits on my mantel and holds all my memories for me.

  91. Zona-- you marched while I was closing the store!!! it was fun to read later... wish I was there...

VIG---Hey... Thanks.. you know for what!!!

Jodi-- your purse sounds really cute...

    ReplyDelete
  92. Zona: Great Marching formation there! Thanks for the cheer! I hope it will keep me going. LOL

Tinka: I would have loved that car! I am so sorry you had to give it up. I hope that man gets the Karma that is coming to him.

Turtle: I am sorry you don't feel well. Take care of yourself and get lots of rest!

I am still cleaning. Determined to get the upstairs vacuumed and my bathroom done and then I just don't give a shit anymore!!!!

PS I have a brand new pair of curtains I bought for our bedroom sitting on my dresser. Will I put them up...... Maybe tomorrow as stated above I don't think I care at this point.

Vig I love your comment! I think I will MS you with a comment of my own but it might be later this week. LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  93. Tinka--That car sounds amazing... Glad you have your memories on the mantle... and i agree with Lynn about that man and his karma...

LynnD.. I can tell you .. i have a pair of kitchen curtians that i bought 2 years ago.. I was tired of my current curtians... They are still in the package.. I could tell lots more about stuff i HAD to have ..and is still in the package!!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. IBB just finished vacuuming the upstairs. Stick a fork in me I am done! The bathroom can wait until tomorrow!

PS I just moved the generator (still in the box) from under the kitchen table out to the garage. I know I know. I just have looked at it so long that it became a fixture I even had stuff on top of it. I feel lucky we did not have to use it this winter!

So there is one of my big secrets! Are you happy???

    ReplyDelete
  95. LynnD--
    Very Happy...
and hell yeah the bathroom can wait... DWTS is on... well it is here anyway!!!

    ReplyDelete
  96. IBB: I have CD's and DVD's that are still in cellaphane from 2 years ago. My sister asks me before every birthday and Christmas, "Did you open the one's I gave you last year?" ummmm..probably not..and I ASKED for them!!

LYNND: Let me know if you need another cheer...I'm a great cyber cheerleader!!

OK..my secret..what I said above to IBB?? Some of them are 3 years old. ;)

TINKA: I loved your post. I always had a name for my cars..one was Chucky..he got smushed..then there was Barry Monaco...he got an icepick in the radiator..then Ick the Buick..ummm there's gonna be a pattern here. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Lynn~~NO, I want more! :o)

iTeach~~I just returned from a busy day to find the most wonderful snail mail from your class and you. Please let them know they were received and SO appreciated. I may have to scan a few to MS later.

I know my ears deceive me...just saw the tongue in cheek commercials each of the Presidential candidates did for the wrestling federation fans. Hillary said "You can just call me Hill-Rod". Oh my, Leno's going to have fun with those!

Wordy post warning: Tried, in as few words as possible, to explain my 'hormonal' reaction to 2nd reading of the blog. It follows...feel free to skip if you wish. Just needed the catharsis of writing it. Please resume regularly scheduled bloggin' :o)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Earlier I alluded to my second, more visceral, 'hormonal' reaction to Carol's blog and your posts. Some of you were quick to contact me on MS with a boost if I were feeling blue. (See why I love you?!?) Actually, it was just a sudden realization after all these decades that I have NEVER had a mentor/'pusher'. (Insert 'duh!' or light bulb 'A-ha' symbol here).

As an only child, I didn't have to compete with or live up to an older sibling. Although probably not welcomed at the time, that sibling rivalry must provide early incentive to be and do your best. My parents, while always supportive, expected me to do well, and I did-----without pushing. As the first in my extended family to graduate from college, I was always considered the over-achiever. When I married, my ex's attitude was 'Work if you want. Stay home if you want'. Throughout my career, friends were usually peers, so while we encouraged each others' achievements, none ever said, "You know, Bon, if you actually tried, you could really (*fill in the blank*)!"

As a single parent, again friends were all in like circumstances so we, too, encouraged but didn't demand much of each other. My parents led very simple but independent and well-organized lives, so until the very end, I was not forced to make any decisions for them. Will I be as organized? Or, will I procrastinate about any remaining as-yet-unmade decisions? Now that I just retired, should I enjoy my comfy nest or move closer to the family I miss so much? Should I manage finances more aggressively so my cash-flow doesn't die before I do? Do I really expect my forever-after Mr. Wonderful to just appear on my doorstep and whisk me away? How much confidence is 'enough'? I've had enough to "carry me far" as my 8th grade teacher said it would, but not enough to kick myself in the arse to be my BEST self.

SO, I'm not sad.....and I'm far from being a 'slacker', but am realizing that I may never get that external push, so really need to demand more of myself. Thanks, Carol, for making me think about it!

  99. Why do Monday's always end up to be a stressful, crazy day. With it being passover and spring break, I thought I would be able to play catch up at work. NOT...

I just tried mother fing MS again! I got to view MEKs and BarbWA great pics and then the damn thing would not take me back home. I am so not in the mood for this!!

If you left me messages I will try to read them in the morning. I just am cranky and dirty and just not in the mood to fight MS.

Ok I think the bleach huffing has given me a bad attitude and a headache. Will be back in a bit.

  101. Hi Everyone!

It's been a few days since I posted, so I thought it about time to give you all a
    "Hoot-Out" (owl speak for "shout-out)!

Like most of you, I have been very caught up in my "real" life.

I hope I finally filled out all the right papers for Laurie's benefits, which were in a bit of "trouble", due to government regulations.

So, Carol, today's blog was very relatable (is that a word?) to me.

Being a widow, and Laurie's legal guardian and conservator, is a challenge. I must make ALL the decisions, and sometimes I make mistakes. And those mistakes can cause lots of trouble at times!

Also, being single, I must make all the the decisions regarding the care and uptake of my home, and I must admit I have made more mistakes than I can ever imagine! I know my husband would have made much better choices and decisions.

I wish I had someone to bounce ideas off of and advice I could really take. I hate to burden my friends, most of them are single also, either due to divorce or widowhood, and they have their own troubles.

Now that my two oldest daughters are adults, and married, I can turn to them in a crisis, but I hate to be a bothersome Mother and Mother-In-Law. So, I try to think things through, and make wise decisions. Sometimes I succeed, other times I suck!!

~~IBB~~ I feel so much heartache for you! It is so hard to lose a friend, especially like the one you described. I am so glad though, that you had her for as long as you did. Some people go through life without that "special" friend. I sometimes think that friends are more precious than family. We don't get to choose our "kin", but we do get to choose who we want to be in our lives as our friends. And when our family members can be "friends" as well as brothers, sisters, etc, all the more wonderful! I hope your week gets better, and your days are filled with sunshine!

Thanks ~~Shirley~~ for that fantastic spread you laid out for breakfast!!! I sure wish I could reach through the computer and really enjoy all that fantastic food everyone offers!

The food for the 100th Blog Celebration was to die for!!!!

At least I can go back and re-read the menu and get ideas for something to actually cook!

    Thanks ~~Dreama~~ for the
    "Hoot-Out"!

Well, it's almost dinner time here in Northern California, so I better get with it. Miss Laurie just came in and asked what we are having.
Tonight is "refrigerator" night! I look through all the
left-overs from the weekend and put together something, with one new and fresh dish. Tonight, I think it will be leftover oven baked fried chicken, fresh green beans and mac and cheese! (low sodium of course!)

I hope everyone enjoys their Monday evening, and I'll try to fly by more often!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I am taking my daughter Aimee, granddaughter Janee who is 8 and Miss Laurie to San Francisco this Wednesday to see High School Musical, live performance at the Orpheum Theatre!

I splurged last December and bought the "Premium Package", with special Orchestra seating, Programs, Refreshments, and hopefully getting to meet the performers!

It's all a secret. The girls won't know about it until we are on the road! I bought special High School Musical Poster and Sticker Books for both girls, and I printed out copies of their tickets, and Aimee and I are decorating the envelope with all kinds of scrap-booking things (she is creative, I am not) tomorrow, and then while we are on our way we are giving them both their own
"Special Secret Envelope" to open. They will be so surprised!!!

I will take a couple of pictures and email them to Carol, if that is alright with her, and she can share them with you all!

OK, this really is my last comment!

Peace and Love to you all, DonnaJean and Laurie Elizabeth

  102. LunnD: I have been having the same trouble with MS. I was beginning to think it was my computer, but now I am just going to blame MS.

Sometimes being independent is a much better way to go, I for one am not as independent as I would like. I have been surrounded my a very large family my entire life. I think that is why I look for that push, as I don't think I could make it on my own. No matter what I ever did, family was always involved.

I now find myself living with my parents, because I felt they needed me, and my mom gave me the push to come home (I had lived on my own for a short period). Was that actually a good push, I don't think so, but I fell for it.

I admire you for your courage to be on your own, succeed in life on your own, and be true to yourself.

You wrote what you did, because you felt it and the words just came, they flowed as it should be..

    ♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  104. LYNND: I had the same problem on Myspace..it wouldn't let me go home...try the back arrow instead of the "Home" button.

BON'O: I am the middle child, and as such you would expect that my parents would push me to get the grades my brother did, and lead my sister. They didn't. We were given encouragement to be ourselves, but not pushed to be like the others.

I think whatever decisions you make have to be right for YOU. It sounds to me like you may already know some of the answers to your questions. :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. That comment was for LYNN D. I don't now who the heck LunnD is.

DonnaJean: Have a great time at High School Musical. I'm sure the girls will love it.

I think we sometimes think we can't do it, when it is really inside of
us all along. Strange how we need approval. I guess it can be attributed to upbringing. I know I was a shy child, being overweight I always hid, until someone pushed me forward.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Bono...
I never being a only anything.. never thought of it your way... always had to do better.. and being the youngest for so many years... looked on to do better than older siblings... it never happened.. but was expected.. I wonder if it has do with, how are life's turned out? Are we where we really what to be? or did we disappoint ourselves along the way!

I know I have disappointed myself in one very big decision I made in my life. It is past now, but always to be in me.

  119. You know something ladies, I've been thinking about this pushing thing.

Sometimes my problem is not needing a push, but staying on task. I'm always trying to do about six things at once and then it takes me forever to get something done.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I'm waving my flappy wings at you!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Lynn D I had a cardboard box full of old LP's under the kitchen table for years. The cats had used the side of the box as a scratching post and ruined all the records. It still sat there until a few years ago when we re-did the kitchen.

Zona I, too, have unopened cd's and dvd's. What is our problem?

Carol I have had a bit of an epiphany while thinking about today's blog. I was going to say that I am an introvert but I can "fake it" and be like an extrovert when need be. But that idea was really based on the former "me". I'm not nearly as introverted as I used to be. I will start conversations with strangers, at times. If you pretend to be confident often enough, one day you look at yourself and find you really do have more confidence. Practice, practice, practice. I've had to engage in public speaking, the largest crowd being approx. 350, and lived to tell about it. Still hated it, though. :)

SacBarb Maybe Lunn D is Lynn D's evil twin.

DonnaJean How fun! I know you all will have a great time.

    ReplyDelete
  123. J/LIN: I don't know what the problem is...I DO want to watch and listen to them...just like I want to read the 500 books I have. It's like some mental block..I'll watch a repeat on TV instead of opening a new DVD..I have 3..yes THREE Hugh Grant dvd's that I haven't seen yet..is that crazy or what?? Hugh Grant!!! LOL!

  124. OMG! Who forgot to tell me RAISING HELEN is on AMC right now?...she's about to sell the Green Moster car!! and then Ferris Bueller (but then, I own that one and know every line).

    ReplyDelete
  125. I wish I had more time. There are so many great posts and so many things I would like to say. Oh well there will be a lot of good posts next week I am sure.

Zona - Thanks for phoning me. I needed that call today.
Of course you named your cars just like I did. Didn't Dianne say "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" or is it "like mother like daughter" that applies here?

Lynn and Ibebold - I so agree with you regarding Karma and the man who got my 'baby'. What makes me angry is the fact that I didn't have sense enough to just phone him and tell him I changed my mind and to have it towed back. At the time I didn't feel I had control but really I did. I just have to chalk it up to life experiences but it was a 20 year dream of mine that went up in "smoke". Oh well many people have suffered worse disappointments and I wish I could stop obsessing on it. We go to 3 English car shows a year. My BIL has won many prizes for his Rover. I think I may have too since "Esmy" was in such good shape and I still had the original bill of sale. Oh Tinka get over it and move on.
Have a great evening everyone. Thanks to those who have left a comment at the picture of Esmerelda and me. ((((Hugs))))

DonnaJ, have you been to the Orpheum before? It is awesome. Last time there we saw Phantom, and since it's fairly small, most seats seem to be good.

  147. Zona - you are welcome for the reminder!!

Iteach - problem with that class -it's over 2 hours away and at night - SO - i will totally have to think about it - I would have to stay up there - AND, it's REALLY expensive!!! But HE is the master at distressing techniques, etc............ OMG!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. I didn't realize it was 2 hours away.

Okay my booming voice is now retracting a little . :)

SacBarb - does Raising Helen come on next??

    ReplyDelete
  150. Iteach - LOL - but I REALLY would love to take it!! maybe I can make that trip my birthday present - the class is over Memorial Day weekend!! SO, and I'm sure it will fill up super fast - i'll have to talk to Mr. MEK about it - BUT - it also would NOT be fun to alone - those things are only fun with a friend!! if you know what I mean..
