David Cook

American Idol is winding down!

i must say i did enjoy this season
more than last years

my favorite is David Cook, i have
enjoyed all his performance's and
think his voice is strong enough
to be the next American Idol

i will admit i did not vote every
week, as i knew MEK, IBB and Goldie
were doing all the voting :O)

when he sang this song a couple of
weeks ago, he blew me away
and i knew then, that he was
going to surpass the others

this is truly a great performance!

enjoy!

i of course am hoping he wins
however, i would be just as happy
if he takes second, because i
know he will do well, whatever
the outcome

this young man's dream is about to
come true

kudos to him!

  1. CAROL - I love David Cook!!! Although it should be interesting to see if he makes it past all Little David's teeny bopper votes. You're right - either way - he is going to have a fantastic career!!!

Spamalot was a freakin' hoot last night!!! I only wish I would've had the opportunity to see Clay Aiken play Sir Robin on Broadway. Picturing him in the part last night, made it all the more funny!!!

    MARY/MI - lol @ getting a "little Italian"!!!

TINA & TURTLE - Thanks for the 3 way!! ;)

  2. BON - Happy 100th Birthday!!! You look perfectly preserved for your age.....lmfao!!! Seriously, enjoy your day......SWAK!!

  3. LYNN D - Congrats on qotd.....the question is......is it still quivering?!!?

  4. It was sure nice of you to phone me yesterday. It's too bad I was
    having my nap.

  5. Happy Birthday Bonnie. Are you really 100? LOL I went back to being 35 taking Zona back to 17. I think that is my prerogative. I don't know what that makes Dianne now?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jodi, Jodi, Jodi -- Did you leave me? I am afraid to be alone in the nest. Bear says he is a shrinking violet but I am not so sure.

  7. Waving a wing @ TINKA!!! Just wanted to say Hi!! Hopefully I'll catch you next time. :D

Gonna go lay back down.....late night....and I got up early to take a friend to work, even though I have today off!!!

I'll be back later. I hope everyone has a great THONG THURSDAY!!! ;)

  8. I loved American Idol last night. They are both winners now. They both will get new Fords unless that has changed. They both get contracts. Looking at Beau Bice or Clay Aitken, you can see that coming in second doesn't seem to hurt their chance of becoming a big success..

  9. Jodi - I am calling your name of the blog and the phone rings and it's you. What a thrill to talk to you. I am happy you enjoyed Spamalot last night. Now go and get that nap.

  10. Is anyone else up? Anyone else going to phone me before I feed my babies? Zona?????

  11. I have to go back to see what is still quivering. Sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well I found out what was still quivering. I also noticed my sad life made it to the QOTD. I listened to David sing that beautiful song. I guess I had better stop posting until another owl comes along. There is only so much one can say to oneself before one loses it!!!!!

  13. Be back in ten minutes to hopefully find the nest has filled up. Have a good sleep Jodi. I loved talking to you. My thong is still in my Hope Chest and there it shall remain.

  14. Good Morning Owls

Congratulations to both David's! May the best man win (and that would be David Cook). ;) I wasn't thrilled with his Music of the Night performance, but I loved what he did with Billie Jean. That was my favorite. :)

    BonO: Happy Birthday!!!

Waving Hi to Jodi and Tinkatia!

    From yesterday's comments...

SacBarb: My birthday was last Saturday, but I have MySpace set up to not show the date so that's why Tom didn't tell anyone. ;)

  15. Jodi - I forgot to say "Congrats on being first. I also forgot to thank Carol for the great blog and posting that lovely song. You are both sweethearts.

  16. Good morning!! Congrats on 1st Jodi. So glad you enjoyed Spamalot. Heard it was good.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY BON BON!!!!!!!

Enjoy your day and I second Jodi-you are perfectly well preserved and still have your marbles too.

Good morning Tink. My thong is staying put in the drawer too.

Duty calls, so back to work I go.
Have a good day and flapping a wing at everyone who comes in after this.

  18. Good morning!

Happy birthday Bono :) What are you doing to celebrate today?

    Hi Jodi, Tinka and Carol!

I have never watched AI, so I can't comment.

We got hooked into so many reality shows, Survivor, AMAZING Race, Bachelor, etc. There just was no time for anything else. So we never started to watch it.

    Have a nice day today!

  19. Hi Goldie and Amicus! I was typing while you were posting!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Amicus - I am glad I came back because you arrived. Good Morning. How are you doing? Yes that song is marvelous. I have put your birthday into my Ical so my computer will tell me next year when it is two days before your birthday. You know you can't stay the same age by keeping your birthday a secret. LOL God makes you older anyway. I know you were just being humble. Not me. I started about a month ahead reminding people. I shouldn't say that as it's nothing to brag about.
I must feed my 'babies'. They are looking at me like the world must be coming to an end. I see Goldie has arrived. I will be back in ten minutes.

  21. One last word-
    Good Morning East Bay J.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good morning!

CPGEM: I don't watch AI..yes I admit it. I have always had a hard time watching as these people with such huge hopes and dreams get voted off one by one. I guess I'm a little over sensitive.

    Congrats JODI on FIRST!!

TINKA: I would love to call you this morning..but I am off to bed right now. Maybe this afternoon??

    AMICUS: Happy Belated Birthday!!

    BON'O: Happy Birthday!!

    GOLDIE: Good morning to you!!

VIG: Are you still doing cartwheels?? ;) Travel safely, my friend.

  25. Happy Thursday!!

    Good Morning!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BONO!!! may all your hopes and dreams come true!!

Jodi - congrats on FIRST... glad you enjoyed the play last night!!

    Tinka - Good morning!!

    Amicus - Happy Belated Birthday!!

Goldie - sorry that work will get in the way of playing again today!! You need to talk to that boss of yours!! LOL

EBJ - I hear ya on TOO many reality shows - that's why I had to cut the Bachelor out!!

Zona - I know it is tough to watch a young person's dreams crushed each week - but I do enjoy the show.

Cpgem - great blog today - need to give a shout out to some other west coasters that vote right along with me -- BONO, SacBarb and Just Lin!! Those are a few that I know about!!

I sure did my duty the other night in the voting - I haven't voted like this in a season of AI since Carrie Underwood was in it.. voting every week, NON-STOP for two hours -

Hope the finale' song isn't a ballad!! Seems each year - the final song choice that each has to sing is catered to who the producers are hoping to win!!

I hope everyone has an excellent day!!!
    :-)

  26. Zona - :-)

    me too!!!
    I am all ready!!

  27. Good morning Jodi (congrats on 1st), Tinka, EBJ, Goldie, Amicus (Happy Belated Birthday) and anyone else that I have missed while typing this.

    Happy Birthday Bonnie!

Carol I have to confess I haven't watched AI that much. However I did like that video. The little David is an excellent singer but needs to grow up a few more years. David Cook should be the next American Idol.

Just missed 25-exactly what I was thinking MEK!! Good morning to you and zona and ebj.

  29. Morning Glories!

Jodi Got First!!! Have you been to bed at all? LOL

Well I confess I laid in bed last night and flipped between HSN, QVC and shopNBC and Idol. I know, I need medication.

Here is my take on Idol. I don't watch it much but I was not surprised when the girl was voted off.

David A struck me as being great for the Disney Channel or High School Musical possibly Junior High School Musical but I really did not get an Idol feel from him. Maybe when he has aged some more and has some life under his belt.

David C was very poised and seemed to take criticism well and was very professional and he can sing!!! I see him as Idol material and I think whatever happens he will do well.

Now I am debating if I need a Lucien Picard watch or not and am mystified when HSN did some sandals that looked like birkenstocks but weren't and were about twice the price. What the hell? They then tried to make them look like Jimmy Choos for the Orthopedic set and made them in metallic colors and glued rhinestones and jewels on them??? Ewwww sorry they went Bedazzler crazy and in my humble opinion tacky very tacky.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Miss Bon Bon!!! What is your secret to making it to 100?? Owls want to know!

Amicus Amicus you had a birthday and did not spill to us??? Happy belated to you, Happy belated to you! Happy Birthday dear Amiiiicuuuuss!! Happy Birthday to you!

Shirley thank you for breakfast!! The lilacs smell wonderful!

Whabbear I have been wondering what has happend to Nowmercy too!

I also hate it when Vig is traveling. I miss her in the nest!

Dianne get well soon we need your wit and fun here too!!

Where the heck is Kgirl and Tina?? Huh Huh? Geez they add that naughty spice to everything! LOL

Birdee when are you going to be done with the home make over?? We need you back!

Mo: miss you, miss you, miss you. Darn Jobs keep you hostage!

I know I am missing more but I have not had enough coffee yet this morning. So if I did Come back we need you in the nest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh Barb flew in! Good Morning to you!

Goldie ohhh he would be a great date for Miley! LOL

Zona: What the hell? Chicken Meatballs did I miss something?? Did one of the Davids flash someone?? What?? I need more coffee obviously.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Zona - Good Morning and Good Night. Talk to you later.

Goldie - I commented that you were in the nest but I didn't say Good Morning. I am sorry. Have a great day.

Mek - Hi, I loved Carrie Underwood too. That year I didn't know Canadians didn't get to vote. I tried her number for two hours and got a busy signal. I guess she didn't need my votes after all.

Zona - I didn't watch the first two seasons of A I for the same reason you don't watch. I could have smacked Simon for saying Brooke's song was a nightmare. There are better ways to phrase it. Now I look beyond Simon and really enjoy the music and the competition. This is my third season to watch every episode. For two years I watched after all the auditions were completed. They can be painful to watch.

East Bay J - We are just the opposite. I don't watch the ones you like but I watch American Idol and DWTS. I guess diversity is what makes the world go round.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hey Zona, Thanks for the phone call and the extra thrill of talking to Mr. Z. What a nice voice he has. Now get to bed and sleep at least 6 hours.

VIG - I am waiting to hear from you. You should be on the ferry coming home today. I hope so. I miss you.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Whabby - I just LOVE your fly-bys. Safe travels!!

Shirley - thanks for breakfast - we actually DID have biscuits and gravy for dinner last night - sometimes - you just have to have breakfast for dinner!!

Lynn D - did you purchase anything last night - that is the question of the day!!!

Barb in WA - Good Morning!! Have a good day!!

Tinka - Carrie is my all time favorite Idol!! She was so AMAZING in concert!! Just beautiful!! She made a comment that she thought that maybe some of us in the crowd had something to do with her winning and Mr. MEK leaned over and said "She has NO idea"!! LOL I was a maniac voting for her!!

AND - I am not a "rocker" - but David Cook needs to win..

Goldie - LOL at taking Miley to prom!!

Don't forget - today - we can get a free McDonald's chicken sandwich with the purchase of a med or lg drink!! :-)

VIG should be home today - I think I saw in her myspace status..

and YES, where is mercynow!! :-)

MO - don't work TOO hard today!!

Shout out to all the missing Hooters!! and those that are lurking!!
    :-)

  41. Good Lord, Tanya Harding has written a book and is trying to have people feel sorry for HER for clubbing Nancy Kerrigan in the knee!!!

That is one book I will NOT be buying or reading!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Goldie - will you march to 50 with me?!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think your phone is ringing!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. MEK: No I did not buy anything! LOL That would require me getting out of bed. It was just too much work! LMAO
It is fun to window shop tho and the people who sell this stuff crack me up!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ewwww Tanya Harding. Could she please just go away! That woman is a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lynn - EXACTLY - on the Tanya - she looks TERRIBLE - as always!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lynn - QVC makes it WAY too easy to purchase things!!
    :-)

Okay - I didn't want to be a blog hog about THIS today -

but - 2 weeks ago - after that couch ordeal - mr. mek and I purchased all new bedroom furniture - from a different company - it's AMAZING the difference between them and these people!! I put the deliver OUT, so that we could prepare and get ready!!

WELL - the saleslady has called us a couple of times to make sure all is still okay - delivery called last to to confirm today and then we got our "window" on Tuesday for today (instead of same day) - well, my window is 8-11a.m. - imagine my SHOCK when the truck pulled up at 8:03a.m. - AMAZING..

I told the guy - WOW - this has NEVER happened - he said - I tried to call - but it says your number is not in service - so I repeated my number - :-) - we are supposed to be the SECOND delivery - so - they have gone to the first house and will be right back!!!

SWEET!!!!!!!!!! can't wait - They are in the neighborhood!!!

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  48. MEK: Now that is a company that cares!!! Sweet! Let us know who they are if they are anywhere in WA that is where I would shop!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I leave for 15 minutes and the nest fills up.

Good Morning Lynn, Shirley and Barbara.

Shirley - I will have toast, jam, tea and a chocolate Slim Fast to go. I missed you yesterday. I guess you were busy.

VIG - Nice to hear from you. I am glad you stopped for the night and didn't decide to drive right to the ferry. I don't want you falling asleep at the wheel.

Barbara - Don't work too hard today. Save some energy for the Night Owl blog.

Mek - I don't think I will march today. I am just not good at it. It goes so fast.
Not only would I never buy Tanya Harding's book I wouldn't read it either.

Time for breakfast. Good Morning Dianne, Whabbear, Bon O, Tina, Birdee, and all the little owls that haven't arrived yet. See you all later.

    ReplyDelete
  50. THEY ARE BACK!!

  52. Goldie, Tinka, Zona, MEK, Shirley, Lynn: Thank you!

    EBJ: Hi to you too!

Tinka: I love how excited you get about holidays and other celebrations like your birthday so please don't change that. :)

Lynn: Not guilty! ;) I actually did mention my birthday here in the nest when I posted about seeing Jersey Boys again on May 11th. It was a birthday gift to myself and to my Dad, because his birthday is this month too. :)

The Four Seasons had their first #1 hit in 1962, the year before I was born. I was named after that song, because it was one of my Dad's favorites. That's why I took him to see the show. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Amicus: Well shame on me!!!

Now that you have prompted my memory I kind of remember reading that. I am taking the route that I was drugged with pain killers!!

The reality is that I have a crappy memory and my brain just did not register it. I think I should be very worried.

    Sorry:(

    ReplyDelete
  54. K-Girl - How do you manage to always slide into the nest in time for 69? Amazing!!

Amicus - I do get excited about all the holidays. There is part of me that remained 6 years old. Does that make me maturity challenged? I don't know but I do enjoy it. I can get excited about Christmas in July when I am pruning my Christmas tree for that year. The smell brings back such memories.
You were born 2 years before my oldest son. I guess I could adopt a few more owls in this nest. Zona would be upset though, she does like being an only child.

Lynn - I don't remember reading about Amicus' birthday either and I wasn't on drugs, at least none that I want to discuss. We won't let her slip by us next year.

Shirley - I am still hungry so I have come back for a nice omelet, bacon and of course a second cup of English tea. The only way I can get anything accomplished is by having tea in the morning. I hear some people actually drink coffee in the morning. How weird is that?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Good morning everyone!

Jodi Congrats on first today. I'm so glad you enjoyed your evening out. I would have loved to see the original production with David Hyde Pierce.

Carol Thanks for the video of David Cook. All I can say is "AMAZING".

Amicus I loved that you took your dad to see Jersey Boys. I had really good seats for when it was in San Francisco early last year but then my husband ended up in the hospital. I gave the tickets to friends who grew up in Jersey and the man used to sing on the corner with some other guys. They absolutely loved the show.

Shirley Thanks for breakfast. I'm hungry today.

MEK This is the first time I ever actually voted for AI, thanks to you. Simon is right. Next week should be a "humdinger". LOL

    ReplyDelete
  56. Just Lin - How many days now?

I am also looking forward to next week's 'humdinger' of A I. If I have a computer meeting I will skip it. I have one again tonight so I had better get some things done instead of playing at the computer. It keeps calling me back.

I posted a blog (not composed by me) about what it is like to live in British Columbia. If you are bored and have nothing else to do it's a fun read.

    See you all this afternoon.

  59. Hey everybody! Congrats on first Jodi!! I am glad you had fun at the show! I wanna see the Broadway version with Clay also..Couldn't afford it while I was there! lol

    Happy Birthday Bono!

Carol, I agree that whatever the outcome, David C will do well..Both Davids will! I thought it was cute how David A. got all teary eyed in his home town...I just think he lacks maturity maybe to handle the fame!

MEK-Please say Tonya Harding didn't write a book?! lol
    Lord help her!

Y'all have a great Thong Thursday!
Btw, are single people getting $300 for the tax stimulus check?! That's what I got this morning in my bank account! lol
I thought I was getting $600, but am still grateful for it!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Want2sleep - I didn't see you slip in here. How are you doing today? Did you go back to bed? I can only find one post from you and that was wishing our birthday girl, or should I say lady (since she turns 100 today,) a Happy Birthday.

Just-Lin - Have fun. You only live once.

Hey Joey - Loved your pictures.

Whabbear - Are you playing the shrinking violet role again today or are you out having a good time?

    ReplyDelete
  61. OMG - what a difference a furniture makes!!!

The saleslady even called me while they were here to make sure that everything was going well!!

    JACKPOT!!!

Everything is in it's place set up - looks AMAZING!!!!!!

NOW - I have to put our bedroom back together!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  62. JOEY- straight from the IRS site:
    Hope it clarifies for you

Your payment may be less than the maximum for one or more of the following reasons:

You are single and your net income tax liability is less than $600. If you file Form 1040 net income tax liability is the amount shown on Line 57, plus the amount on Line 52.
You are married and your net income tax liability is less than $1,200.
You are single and your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than $75,000. On Form 1040, AGI is the amount on Line 37.
You are married filing a joint return and your AGI is more than $150,000.
You owe back taxes that reduced your payment.
You have non-tax federal debts such as unpaid student loans or child-support obligations that reduced your payment.
Around the time you receive your payment, you will also receive a notice from the IRS explaining how your payment was calculated. It is important to keep this notice as a record of your economic stimulus payment. In addition, you’ll get a separate notice if you owe back taxes or non-tax debts that were offset or deducted from your stimulus payment.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Just Lin - glad I could get you into the dialing mood!! LOL

Joey - sorry - she really DID write a book - and i will NOT be reading it - she is trying to make people feel sorry for HER!!! NOT!!

and yes, single people get $300.00

Turtle - I saved that march for you!! GOOD JOB!!

Lynn D - don't you just love listening to the people that talk on the air!! LOL I have been asked SO many times if I want to talk to the host and i have declined everytime!!

  78. Congrat on 100 Jodi!! Flapping a wing back at you. I like your new owl- but the other one just "screams" Jodi to me :)

MEK- the sad part is that I totally understand it and could decipher it. Thats why my brain cramps- too much of that shit in it!!
Congrats on the new bedroom set and the fact that it was delivered drama free without raising your blood pressure.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Lynn: No apology necessary. If another Owl had briefly mentioned a birthday the way I did, I wouldn't have remembered it either. :)

Joey: Clay is no longer in the cast of Spamalot so it's a good thing you didn't spend the money. :) I've read several excellent reviews of No, No Nanette though so I hope you enjoyed that show.

Just Lin: I saw David Hyde Pierce perform with the original Spamalot cast on the Tony Awards, and I thought he was fantastic. Much to my surprise though, he was the only star of the show who was not nominated for a Tony.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Jodi - congrats on 100!!

AMicus - I saw Clay on the View and, yes, he had just finished his stint on Broadway!!

OMG - my furniture saleslady just called AGAIN - just to make sure I was happy with everything today from delivery and the product itself!! I am truly AMAZED!!!

    :-)

one bad thing and that is MY fault - I bought a new comforter set, blah, blah - got the bed skirt on there - no easy task doing it alone!! !LOL AND - the comforter isn't really a comforter - it's a comforter COVER!!! WTF!!!!!! oh well !!! live and learn!!!

gotta find that humor in THAT!!

Now- I'm going to rest and watch my soaps!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. ok MEK I have to ask. You live in a place where it is hotter then blue hell and you need a comforter?

Tinka: Glad to know I am not the only one with memory problems!! Maybe we should form a club! LOL

MEK: Amazing service from that furniture store! Had to laugh at the comforter cover tho!! That would be me!! I got new bedroom curtains because I did not read the package on the last ones I bought and they are like 3 feet to short!!

Goldie: My question is this. The govt touted like crazy and the news, how singles would get back $600.00 and couples would get back $1200.00 this wonderful new stimulus package yada yada yada.

Every person I know so far has gotten exactly half of those amounts.

Ok here is the question: Where is the the other half going??? We borrowed enough to cover those amounts, so what is the left over money being used for???

    Makes me go hmmmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  83. Oh and how many people went out and spent the $600.00 or the $1200.00 before they actually had that money in hand because of all of the hype???

    Again hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  84. Hi Owls!
First I want to thank all of you who kept us in your thoughts and prayers yesterday. The meeting turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The boys are too advanced for a speech device, so that was shot down within the first hour. They spent 3 hours with us and came up with changes in how the teachers need to teach them and helped give us some ideas about how to help them more at home. I am so relieved!! These little boys are so incredibly smart and their mouth just doesn't get the words out right. It is hard because people always assume they need to talk down to them or simplify things, which then bores them to tears. I won't be surprised someday if they turn out to be brainiacs or something.

I have hardly watched Idol this season. I don't know why, but I jusy had the hardest time getting into it. I don't live under a rock though, and I agree that David Cook seems incredibly talented. David A. has the cute factor going on though, so who knows?

Hope you all have a GREAT day!!

    Bon~ Happy Birthday to you!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I heard the stimulus checks were $300 for a single w/no kids and $600 for a married couple w/no kids. People with kids got something like $200 extra per kid. Not sure on that amount. But whatever.....we don't get one so I hate the whole thing!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Goldie - the comforter is for LOOKS - I have to make my bed everyday and the sheet has to be covered!!! LOL CUZ - yes, it is WAY too hot to have it OVER you!! but thanks for pointing that out!!

Lynn - LOL - I have some curtains like that also - long story - that I won't share - but it IS funny!!

AND - looks like I overlooked a MEKAL's 50% off coupon in the Parade Mazagine this weekend and it went out with the trash on monday - bummer!! not that there is ANYTHING else to buy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. G.....
I'm so glad to hear that! I've heard you talk to the boys so I know you don't talk down to them. It would be frustrating to have teachers do that though. They just need to get a few more years under them and they will be good to go!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'll take 111!!!
Barb in WA - congrats on 110

now - I need to read your post and Glynis'

    ReplyDelete
  89. MEK....You want me to Express Mail that coupon to you??? LOL! You're the one who told they even put them in there!

I can tell you....when at MEK's you need the fan going and you sleep with just a sheet!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Lynn- I know, it seems that the gov touts what a wonderful "stimulus" package is being presented but then witholds the money. Nothing stimulating about that.
It also gave up to 300.00 per child who was under 17 by Dec. 31. How does having a 17 year old still in high school not count has a child??? As any parent who has ever had to fill out financial aid forms know, the gov considers them to be your responsibility until they are 25!
I do my Mom's taxes (she should get 300.00 back and my sons who should get 600.00 back. Both were to be deposited by the end of last week. Neither has been so far.

    Ufda.

    ReplyDelete
  91. About the checks - I haven't checked my acct - cuz I think ours is supposed to be direct - deposit - but our accountant said we'd be getting $1,200.00 -
    hhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

but i had heard that singles get $300 and that kids added money to them......

    very interesting

Glynis - I am so happy that everything went well yesterday!!

and I think David A.'s "cute factor" wore off along time ago!!
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Barb - LOL at need that fan going - cuz YES, it is HOT - AND the fan doesn't even help most nights!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Barb - thanks - but I don't need the coupon - and I was the one that "alerted" everyone - I didn't even look last week, cuz I thought it was just a one week thing!!
    :-)

I do know that this weeks MEKAL's ad will have two 50% off coupons in it!! :-) - one for the week and one for Memorial Day weekend.

  94. Glynis,

I have a friend who adopted twins knowing that they faced a lifetime of of physical and learning disabilities. They are now grown, BUT while in school my friend fought constantly with the schools over the teaching of her children. She spent a lot of time learning the laws and rules of what MUST be (like it or not by the school system) made available to her children. And when something didn't sit well with her she took to battle for those kids. She also learned a lot along the way about her kids and the frustrations the teachers (understaffed, unpaid and under educated in the areas of special needs) felt and how it was then projected to the kids.

Good for you for going to that meeting, learning and listening and not just going with what they say. As their mom your gut will always guide you to make sure they receive what they so rightfully deserve.

  95. MEK- LOL- thats what I use my comforter for as well!

  101. CONGRATS TO YOU WHAB!!!!!!!!!

I just got my email from Joe at human rights- a copy from my son in CA and read the story on MSNBC.
    About frigging time!!!!!!!!

SWAK! SO HAPPY about this I am doing the jig!

Hey Jodi-now that you are rich, when you taking me out for lunch??

    ReplyDelete
  102. GOLDIE - So not rich.....sadly, we are paying off some of MR. JODI'S medical bills from last year. But I think lunch is certainly in order!!!

WHABBY - CONGRATS!!! I just read it online!!! So happy for you and HUZ!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. GOLDIE - Oh, and we were suppose to be in the group to get the check on the 2nd, but it did not hit til the 9th.....oh, well at least it finally came!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I am supposed to get mine this week- not there yet. Only 1200.00 for us (damn kids are grown and out) BUT I am looking forward to stimulating the economy with a new purse or 2 and a spa treatment when I am on vacation next month.

Tell me when girlfriend and we will go!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Just flying through. My 'babies' and I just woke from our naps, the warm sun is beckoning but I have things to do before I leave for the computer meeting.

Whabbear - Congratulations. Message me the details. I don't know what happened to precipitate this.

Lyyn - What shall we call our club?

I have no idea what your cheques are for so I will leave you with this: "Have fun with your new found money".

  106. WHABBEAR: I'm so happy for you and Huz! I know Az was supposed to put this legislation through months ago and it got stalled somehow.

    JODI: Congrats on 3, 100, 125 and 2100! ;)

MEK: She shoots, she scores!! I'm glad that today went so well and you were spared the stress you endured last time.

    TINKA: Good afternoon pretty lady!

BARB/WA: Boy do I have a book for you..it's called "Weird USA" and it's all about ghosts and hauntings around the United States. I thought of you and Mary immediately.

J/LIN: I always thought a "humdinger" meant something else. ;)

KGRL: Another day..another 69..I wish I had those kind of days! ;)

    TINA: Thank you..

  107. Happy Threadbare Thursday (for me anyway) Owls. I so don't do thongs.

Bear: I heard about the Supreme Court decision this morning and you are the first person I thought of. Better hurry before it is contested. Although, I also heard that Arnie won't support a constitutional amendment to overturn it. Yay for Arnie and California.

Carol: Thanks for the blog and that video. I think David did a good job on the song, although he is no Michael Crawford. It might be better for him if he came in 2nd, then he won't be tied to Idol for as long. I think lil David needs Idol to train him because he certainly needs it. And he needs to develop some stage presence. But David Cook really is the better all 'round performer.

Jodi: congrats on #1. Did you do a lil Italian at Spamalot?

Tinka: I keep my thong in a place I call my hope-less chest. It will stay there too.

Shirley: Thanks for breakfast. I had to take my car to the dealer very early, so I just had some juice.

    Bon'O: HB2U

    Amicus: Belated HB2U

Goldie: It's nice to have an 'in' with the boss or vice versa.

Joey: Thanks for the Idol spoiler last night.

    K-girl: another 69...congrats. What's this about a second job?

Glynis: Glad that your meeting went well.

MEK: Yay for your new bedroom furniture. What a difference in customer service, huh? Take some pics for us.

  118. Afternoon Hooters~

Whab: Woot Woot. Hawaii will never have that opportunity, I don't need the paper but definately think the rights afforded by that damn piece of paper are justified.

SacBarb: Not a second job, the roommates own a wine store, they are on the mainland. So for two weeks I own a German Shephard (who is having abandon issues to the extreme), and am filling in at the store. I just did back to back 16 hr days...lol.

Amicus: Any suggestions on the dog's issues? I have bred and raised pups, shown dogs, trained dogs, and never in my life have I dealt with the level of anxiety.
I walk her daily, started taking her to the park a couple of days ago to try and run the anxiety outta her, extra love and attention. She crates easily, but I am gone from 6:15am til 5ish on a regular day so I leave her in the yard.

joey: thanks for the spoiler as usual, tho I think we all knew that Sayyes was goin buh bye

  137. Oooo Oooo Ooooo......

I just had a Western Tanager in the yard! Yippee!!! One of the prettiest birds we get here. SO I ran out and put oranges and bread in the feeder to try and temp him to stay!
I have been seeing a flock of them all week at work, but they never would sit still long enough for me to look at them, and I didn't have my bino's. Today when I went down there to pick up my check I saw them again and had a chnace to just sit and look at them. Sooooo pretty! I told them to fly North 5 miles and hang out at my house....and one of them so fas has!
    Yeppers.....I'm a dork like that!

    And Happy Belated B-day Amicus!

    And WOOT WOOT BEAR!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Barb in WA - I just LOVE how much you LOVE birds - you can sure pic them out of a tree!!
    :-)

Zona - we are under severe DUST STORM alerts!! it's 81 degrees right now - will find out our high soon..

K'Girl - gosh - I really feel for you about your doggie woes!! My mom had an English Cocker SPaniel - that went bazerk when she left for her mom's funeral - I ended up taking her to the vet, cuz her tummy was REALLY upset, etc. - the vet had me make her special food - AND - told me to sleep where my mom did since the dog slept on the floor next to her bed - and keep his routine as normal as possible -

I KNOW you KNOW all of this - and it can be SOOO frustrating for both you and the puppy!!

    Hope everything works out!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. MEK:

Nikita already eats Potato and Duck dog food because of allergies, so I ain't feeding anything to that dog but ice cubes! her mommy can have that responsibility....and she sleeps outside. And no matter how much I love that dog, I am sorry I am not sleeping in the yard or on the lanai....lmao

    ReplyDelete
  140. BarbWa I get excited about the birds, too. Right now I have a Eurasian Dove sitting in her nest in the willow tree. At the moment I also have Goldfinches, House Finches, Chickadees, Dark-eyed Juncos, Robins, California Towhees and the resident Hummingbird. At the moment, there is a huge Raven in the redwood treee. The other day, there was a Sharp-shinned Hawk in the redwood. I went out and talked to him so he flew away, thank goodness.

Well, that was certainly a tedious post for most of you, I'm sure. :)

    ReplyDelete
  141. k'girl - you have me literally laughing my ass off!!

Trust me - ice cubes will be good - cuz my mom's dog was SOOOOO "sick" that it literally made me sick!!!

    and - i wouldn't sleep outside either!!! :-)

Where is Amicus when we need her??!!

    ReplyDelete
  142. Just Lin - I just LOVE how you know all the names of the birds!

    nothing tedious about that..

well, MR. MEK is home and we are going to go fight the crowds for our free Mcd's chicken sandwich!!
