Lady?

Lady
Not Really by Tina~in_ut

Do you ever get an email or joke that is just so funny that you have to share with everyone? Sometimes you get ones that are so well written, you are proud to know the person who wrote it! I received an email that was so hilarious, that I immediately forwarded it to my co-workers and best friend! They all loved it. THEN, I told the writer I was putting it on the blog. I could not deprive others of her superb writing. So here is Zona's email. Enjoy~

"I was sitting here at the computer this morning, and I heard a young boy's voice calling "Lady....Lady..." and then whistling. I looked out the window and there was the new neighbor's son..standing in the driveway, with a boxer puppy next to him.

He was looking down the street and shouting now, "Lady...LADY!!" For all I knew it could have been a Jerry Lewis impersonation, and there was some woman he was calling to come back. I watched and saw a Dobie pup run up to him..ok..it was a real honest to goodness dog that was loose, and had now come home. I started to turn away, but saw that Lady was playing with his sense of relief by turning and running back down the street!

In the meantime he was still trying to keep track of the boxer pup. I went into full helpful neighbor mode and slapped my feet into my flip flops..ran into the kitchen and got some of Nikki's milk bones..which she then tried desperatley to grab back from me..and while pushing her off me, ran out of the front door. I only forgot one thing..it had been raining.

My flip-flop clad foot hit the wet cement, and my leg went straight up in the air, I thought, what a nice tree we have just before my ass and back hit the concrete. I laid there trying to see and catch my breath, weakly holding up the dog biscuits in the direction of the boy.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a trotting Dobie puppy run up to him...and without so much as a smirk in my direction, the trio went into their backyard..leaving me sprawled on the front walkway. I took a deep breath, and hauled myself first to my knees, biscuits still in hand. I knelt, butt to the street in defiance to anyone who might have a problem with the view, and then slowly stood up. I limped to the front door, where Nikki was waiting for her treats. I opened the security door and threw the damn biscuits across the entrance hall. Nikki ran after them and crunched happily away, as I stepped first out of one flip..than the flop...walked to the sofa and fell into it. Truly Tina...that Lady was a tramp!"

I have always wished I could write like this. Thank you Zona for making me laugh and always entertaining me with your stories! I really wish you would submit you work!

  9. Good Morning Goldie.

Zona-my-baby - You are a fantastic short story writer. Tina is right. You should submit more of your stories. As Goldie said the visuals were perfect. If it had been someone I didn't know I would have laughed my head off. Since you are my daughter I am more concerned for the bruises you may have on your bottom. You didn't tell me that story. Probably because I would have called that boy's mom and told her what a rude kid she had for not helping you up. Your last line is hilarious. It pulled the story together so perfectly. I am very proud of this morning. Next time ignore the calls for help and stay at the computer writing your stories.

  10. My comment was #10.

Good Morning East Bay J - That happens to be every once in a while. I click "publish" and it shows up twice. Can anyone explain why?

  11. MEK- I need to comment on your blog from yesterday. I left town (and my beloved computer) on Friday and just read it this morning.

I have a nephew serving in the Air Force right now, I so understand what you talked about. I also appreciate so much more then I ever did before the sacrifices tha your father made and all those who have served- regardless if they peeled potatoes or where on the front lines-made for me and my family.

I too have had the honor of being at Arlington and watching the changing of the guard. It is the most incredible, proud, sad, honored feeling I have probably ever had. I never knew it was possible for a group of people to be so silent and so respectful as we watched and marveled.

Hope all you hooters had a great weekend and that this nice short work week is a pleasant one!

  12. Tina - I forgot to say "Good Morning" and to thank you for submitting Zona's post. It was a great one and she would never have submitted it. I am glad you did.

  13. Good Morning Goldie, Tinka, and EBJ!

I will be checking in off and on this week as it is going to be a crazy one for me.

Today is food pick up and then going late this afternoon with a friend to a Doc consultation.

Tomorrow is food bank and I need to get the rest of my Tweedle Dee costume ready.

The rest of the week is helping to get everything ready for our fundraiser on Saturday for the foodbank.

Lord 2 months of planning for a 4 hour Mad Hatter Tea and Garden tour. I now know why I would never be an event planner.

Crazy need to get my hair done in their somewhere too! Maybe not I do have the propeller beanie to cover the roots! LOL

  14. Good Morning Owls!

Zona: Funny story! I hope you weren't hurt during the fall, and I'm glad Lady and the boxer pup made it home safely.

    Tina: Thanks for sharing!

    Waving HI to everyone!

    Have a great day!

  15. Good Morning Lynn and Amicus-

Lynn - Did I miss something? Why do you need a Tweedle Dee costume and what event are you talking about?

VIG - Have fun at work today. I will be thinking about you.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I guess everyone has either gone to work or back to bed so I guess I will go and have my breakfast.

  19. I tried but I can't wake anyone up. I will be back later when the crowd arrives.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Tinka: It is for a fundraiser for the foodbank. We are having the Mad Hatter Tea party and garden tour. All of the volunteers are wearing costumes and we have a tent for the tea. We will be serving cake and finger sandwiches.

Hidden throughout the garden are decorated cards and event goers that find them win prizes that have been generously donated by merchants.

We ask that they either give a cash donation or bring non perishable food item to the event to get in.

One of our ladies that volunteers is letting us use her garden well actually 1 acre of yard that she and her husband have beautifully landscaped over the years.

Oh and I got to the costume sign up late and so I am Tweedle Dee. If I had been any later I would have been Tweedle Dum! LOL

  22. We had a nice "cool" weekend - temps are headed back to the 100's!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lynn - Good Morning. Thanks for explaining. It sounds wonderful. I wish I could be part of it. I could have been Tweedle Dum and we could have been partners.

Mek - Yes I am getting a little better at marching. It is easier when you are sitting all alone in the nest and you know no-one is going to suddenly land on you. Send us some heat. It's cool here this morning and I refuse to put on the furnace in May. I feel like getting back into bed.

    ReplyDelete
  24. MEK: My head is fine. But my stomach is still giving me problems!

Tinka: I wish you were here too! We would have made a great duo! LOL

Off to check the rest of my email and then I need to fly out the door. Everyone have a wonderful day!

  25. Good morning/afternoon,

Just swooping in for a minute to ask for thoughts and prayers for Moweenie this afternoon at 3:00.

The supervisors at the hospital will be having a meeting with her and probably be offering her a permanent position, with medical benefits and a pay raise. Oh, I hope so.

We all love and care about Mo, and she is really needing our support today, as this 'tedious' process has had her somewhat on pins and needles for a few weeks.

Waving a wing to Zona (glad you weren't hurt), Scirish, Lynn, Tink, Goldie, EBJ, Amicus, and MEK.
Hope you all have a great day.

Leaving all of you *smiles* for your day, and holding Moweenie in my thoughts.

Zona - As I was driving away I remembered you telling me about your fall. I just didn't get the "calling Lady" short story so I didn't recognize it. I still think the kid needs a kick in the pants for not helping you.

Maureen - My fingers are still crossed for you.

Time for Slim Fast and a nap. Boy the days fly by.

  48. LOL@ Sleep! I did get into the nest a little late today; we were up past 1 in the morning last night dancing, cocktailing, and gambling.

Mary in MI: Have you ever stayed at the Mandalay Bay? OMG, this place is huge, and talk about bustling! Huz and I just got back from the big wave pool, and it really was kind of like being at the beach. Kind of.

As for the casino, Huz was appalled at the fact that the minimum bet is now 15 dollars at the blackjack tables... he remembers 2 dollar tables back in the 70s.

Zona: OMG, you have a great turn of phrase... I loved how you described the dog playing with his sense of relief by taking off again!

You and Randy have been dealing with too much weird stuff lately. Hopefully, you're due for a change in the karmic winds soon!

Hello, Tinkatia, Lynn D, scirish, Carol, East Bay, Jodi, Goldie, Amicus, MEK, Ronniegirl, VIG, Barb, Turtle, and Joey!

And hello to SacBarb, Just Lin, and all who will be in the nest later!

Goldie: The traditions and rituals used by the military to honor the lives and individuals who serve and die are very powerful, don't you think?

I think Taps is one of the most moving short pieces of music every written... there's just such a plaintive, sorrowful, even lonely feel to it.

No surprise that Taps has come to be so closely associated with the end of the day and the end of life.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Barbara~ I think i need to go back down under~ :)~

    ReplyDelete
  50. well Tina...I have never "gone" down under. Thinking maybe I should!

    ReplyDelete
  51. VIG - Thanks for the letter. I have had a busy day but then a nice nap. Tango is limping so I don't think I will go for a walk. I can always think of a good excuse.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Whabbear - I am happy you checked in. I keep a motherly eye on you at all times. Glad you are having fun and still have money left for your old age (I know that is years from now but one can't be too careful).

    ReplyDelete
  53. Zona - I hope you are enjoying all the nice comments about your talent as a writer. You never believed me but then again who ever believes their mother?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Tinka~ i believe my mother! She has a gun! :)~

    ReplyDelete
  55. Tina, You snuck in on me. I was going to get my first 69 because I thought I was alone in the nest. I was taking my time. "I will get you my pretty and your little dog too".

    ReplyDelete
  56. Barbara - I am going to check on those pictures now.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I guess I am not very wide awake or else I would have noticed by the time of the posts that the nest was occupied. Even if I had tried to rush I think I would have been stomped on. Don't you owls realize my little owl is delicate?

So glad Tina decided to share your story, I cracked up when I first read it. Sorry..it was just so funny! At least you did try to help.

Thanks to you and Tina for Today's blog!

  63. I am still exhausted from yesterday!
I did not sleep well, as my calf's and my feet were killing me!

I also drank beer (which I never do). My nephews play this card game "Fuck the Dealer" and you kinda have to drink when you don't guess the number. Its somewhat like "Beer Pong"

So I played! And had to drink....

I finally wised up and starting putting water in my beer bottle, my nephews/cousins had no clue I was doing this so it worked at well..

I did tell them after all the games were over tho! As they were giving me Kudos for keeping up with them and I just could not say I did with a straight face!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I will be back later when I get home.

Hope all had a good day!

  66. VIG: I don't think I can survive another story like that one!!

BARB/WA: I was sure I only got bruised..but today my toenail fell off..so there was more damage than I thought. I wanted to save it so that Mr Z could have the DNA extracted and have me cloned in the future, but he said no. Hmmm

KGRL: I think with Nikki..as long as you're moving you're all right! She wanted those treats coming and going!

WHABBEAR: Oh I hope good things are on the way!

    TINA: Goof!

CPGEM: My trying to help gets me in more trouble!!

    JOEY: You're so sweet!

TINKA: I think I'm a little shell shocked.

Thanks again everyone and TINA..I am sending that package afterall!! ;P

  67. Yeah -

Oh my - it's hotter than hell outside... BUT - I can't bitch yet - so forget I just said anything..

Went to my mom's to go thru those medicare papers - I was SO worried - BUT - as I read thru them - the doctor's office keeps submitting the WRONG date of service Operative report for the claim and that is why it keeps getting denied - and until they submit the correct stuff - everything that is related to it will be denied........ she has an appt there on Tuesday - so I'll visit the little billing gal!!

Glad it was as simple as that!!

    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Good Afternoon, Tinka!!

  73. Jus Lin - I think I missed Ellen. I will check. I did see him today on Regis and Kelly. He sang the winning song. I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Whabby - Isn't it the truth about that little "TAPS" song??

last time I went to "visit" my dad, it was in the middle of the week and there were several services going on - and it was almost like "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" - one bugle would be ending and another would be in the middle and another one would start... I really did have to leave - it was WAY too much emotion for me... and as the bugle was blowing - the rifles were doing their salutes!!

At a National Cemetary like that - the service is not held at the actual grave site - you are in a pavillion type thing.......

    SO - enough sadness...

Zona - at least it's not raining anymore!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  75. TINA!!!! Damn foad!! Congrats on 100!!! How's work?

    ReplyDelete

  96. Iteach - I shouldn't tease. I know how stressful things can get at the end of a school year. It never got any easier as the years flowed past. There is always so much paper work to do. Besides that you are trying to teach children who's minds have already been "geared up" for summer holidays because Little League has started and they aren't going to bed as early.

  97. Iteach - And I forgot you aren't feeling well at all. Hope it isn't strep throat.

  98. I'm hoping relaxing is right around the corner.

I stayed up late to put the finishing touches on the report cards.

I hand those out tomorrow and I will give a retirement party to one of our fellow teachers.

I also have a doctor's appt. tomorrow to see why I have white sores in the back of my throat.

  99. dang mek....I don't remember what I was going to tell her now!

    I had a schizophrenic passenger....wacko!!!!!

    iteach...hope you feel better soon~

  100. Just checking in and hoping everyone is having a nice evening.

Got home a little while ago. Went with my friend to her Doc appt in Downtown Tacoma.

Can I just say now I remember why we moved from there!

I am amazed at how many of those city slickers don't know how to use or what a cross walk is for. But here at home in our little cowtown we know what they are for and we use them correctly! LOL

    Scary very Scary!

I am exhausted. I will see you all in the morning! (((Hugs)))

  101. Lynn - I am exhausted too. Good Night. I am heading to bed.

Iteach - Hope you feel better.

VIG and Zona - I would like to know where those messages I sent to you two ended up. Are they floating around in space?
Good Night my friends I am heading for a cozy bed and maybe watch Season two of the Walton's again. It's a while since I finished Season eight.

Good Night all Owls. God Bless.
    Love, Tinka

  102. Good evening everyone. This will be my only post for the night. We have been having terrible satellite connections for the past 4 days. Slower than molasses in the winter!!
We are expecting a service tech. tomorrow. We live out in the country with only dial-up so I purchased a satellite w/high speed. I think our trees may be blocking the dish and may have to be cut down. Hopefully he can just move the dish higher.

    Scirish~ Way-to-go on being #1 today!

Tina, so glad you posted Zona's wonderful story!

Zona~ I loved your way with words. They flowed so eloquently! I am a terrible writer and admire anyone who can put words to paper like you did and have them come alive. You have got to write a blog! Pretty please!

MO~ Good luck and take deep breaths!

Barb~ I saw Thunder from Down Under in Vegas. My heart is pounding just thinking about it! LOL!!

Bear~ I didn't stay at Mandalay Bay, but I have been to a few shows there. One show was on stage surrounded by the wave pool. I sat on the waters edge while the waves were moving. Loved it! The table limits always go up on week ends and Holidays.

Tinka, goodnight, sorry I missed you.
Sorry for the long post. Hopefully tomorrow service will be better. I'm not very patient with the slow downloads and refreshings
    Good night all...

  103. TINA & ZONA...GREAT blog! I felt a little giulty laughing at you dear Zona...but I got over thay guilt quickly!! You are quite the writer...I could actually picture you with you leg up! I hope you didn't have on a skirt!!!!!!!!

THANKS to all of you for your well wishes, etc... sadly, it didn't go my way. I am going to apply for a lesser position so I can at least get my insurance, since I now have none. It's not the job I wanted, nor will it allow me to quit the hell hole, but I guess I am resigned to it and will make the most of it. I just wish I vould have something go my way for a change.

    good night

    ReplyDelete
  104. Maureen Damn!!! I'm so sorry that didn't go that way you wanted it to. Something else will come your way that's even better. I just know it. (((HUGS)))

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oh Mo~ I'm so sorry~ Isn't there another Hell Hole you could work at? I'd offer you my job, but the commute would just kill you~ I'm happy you at least will get insurance! And I'm confident that you will work your way up in the company! Did you tell them that you are the #2 crackwhore in the nest? Maybe that would help things along! :D xoxoxxoxoxoxoxoxo

  106. Bear, tell Huz that $2 limits went out when saloons and stagecoaches did. You know, waaaay before porn on the internet.
