Friday the 13th

in honor of today, i thought i would
find of clip of Friday the 13th the movie
i really don't like horror flicks
actually they scare the crap out of me,
so needless to say, i don't watch
them

however, Jason from Friday the 13th
has always spiked up my curiosity,
why was he so mean? why did he kill
so brutally? (at least that is what i have been told)
so when i saw this clip, i thought, perhaps
this will explain his actions, well, you will
see, i am still in the dark.......

don't be scared, it is not gory,
but it is funny, in a Jason kind
of way!

Enjoy!

  2. Want2sleep - You were still in the nest. Did you fall asleep or were you waiting to pounce on first. Sorry if I jumped over you.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Carol - That was fun. I almost didn't watch it as I have never seen a horror show in my life and never want to. Then you said it was funny so I took your word for it. It was great. Thanks for finding it.

  6. Morning Glories!

Tinka: Took first and jumped over want! LOL

Nice joke EBJ and Carol! LMAO

I have never seen any of the Jason movies. Not my thing but a nice video for this Friday the 13th! LOL

I have my favorite thing to do today and did not even realize it was Friday the 13th when I made the damn appt. Yes I have to go to the dentist this afternoon! If I had thought about it I would have changed the day.

    Waving at everyone!!

I hope all of the storms have calmed down!

  8. Good Morning Bon Oregon and Lynn.

Lynn - You make me feel better. I cancelled Tango's last surgery when I discovered it was scheduled for Friday the 13th and yet I thought I wasn't superstitious. As someone said yesterday, "Why take chances?"
I am sure you will be just fine at the dentist.

  9. Oh no! I've been so busy that I didn't even realize it was Friday the 13th. Everything has been going wrong all week from my slipping in the bath tub and hitting my head and knocking myself out to my parents carpet being installed 2 different colors and dealing with that ordeal.
I took my Pekingese out at midnight for her last potty break and 3 stray viscious pitbulls came from no where growling and jumping up on my fence with so much force. My Pek stuck her nose right up to the fence and I'm screaming no. And as I grabbed her I felt the pitbulls breath so close to my hands as they tried desperately to attack through the fence. That could have been a catastrophy if I didn't have the fence up across my front yard.
Now I have to go face the day and the world on Friday the 13. Whimper.Whimper as I leave out the door! Argh! :0)

  10. Good morning,

    Congrats on #1, Tink
Waving 'Hi' to want and Bon'O..

Great blog Carol. Jason, was certainly a Deranged Sociopath, but I loved being scared to death by him. That clip from Arsenio was hilarious.

There are ony two scary movies I have really enjoyed,,,, Jason, and Halloween. I know, I'm sick.

I don't watch the supernatural movies like The Exorcist, those are just too far out there.

I'm keeping all our Nesters in my thoughts this morning for their safe arrival here today.

EBJ, your graduation picture was very lovely yesterday and your sweetness just radiated from your face.

Have a great day everyone, and don't walk under any ladders.

  11. Want2sleep - I thought you had left me. Have you watched any Horror movies? The only scary movie I have ever seen was
"Amityville Horrors". It gave me nightmares for months. Eleven years ago I had an outbreak of moisture ants. They hatch out as flies for one day. I went into the family room and the window was covered with flies. Flashback to "Amityville Horrors". I was running around with a can of spray, in my bare feet, spraying like a crazy lady. Four days later I had a minor stroke. My sister was always convinced that the fly incident was the cause of it. I think I had been watering my plants and grass too often that year. It never happened again. I never watched a scary movie again either.

  14. Good Morning Ronnie - I second your thoughts about EBJ's picture being beautiful. Beauty and happiness radiates from her face. I also hope all our little owls are safe this morning.

  15. I was # 20 so I think I will leave it at that. I will leave 25 for the nest owl to arrive. Have a good day everyone. I will be busy still getting ready for my guest from Japan.

  16. Good morning!

Congrats to Pinkatia for being first this morning!

Doing a quick Whab-by before work, so will watch the video later.

Thank you guys for the kind compliments on my hs graduation pic.

My youngest brother was born on Friday the 13th, so I've always considered it a lucky day!

    Have a wonderful Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hey Want hey Ronnie!

I like thrillers like silence of the lambs and 6th sense.

But the hackem ups just kind of bug me!

TINKA: no more scary movies for you!

    ReplyDelete
  18. OMG, I was a horror movie fanatic as a kid... I used to have weekly battles with my Mom to let me stay up and watch the Friday night horror flick on the Buffalo NY ABC station after the late news. For all those horror movie virgins out there, I'd recommend Alien and Poltergeist as two of the scariest films of all time.

But as an adult, I couldn't care less about them! Funny, huh?

Top o' the morning to tink, sleep, Bon'O, Lynn D, Dreama, and Ronniegirl!

And thanks for all the interesting observations on alien contact yesterday! I was particularly intrigued by the commonly expressed fear factor. Consider this: any alien civilization is overwhelmingly likely to be rare enough as to be a very long distance away from us. Hundreds, and more likely thousands, of light years.

So far away that any evidence that there are human beings on Earth has not had a chance to reach them yet.

As to whether we need to "clean up our own act" before we should make contact with extra-terrestrials? Yes, I rather think we should!

  19. Ha I met Mr. Lynn D on Friday the 13th. Need I say more!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Good morning, East Bay, you gorgeous thing!

    ReplyDelete
  21. lynn D: I agree completely! The slasher flicks are ridiculous, the supernatural ones even more so, but the Silence of the Lambs was fantastic !!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Whabby I had a thought about your blog yesterday while I was driving.

It popped into my head if they really are a more intelligent life form maybe they do now about us and are smart enough to stay away! So if and when we make contact we may her "The number you have dialed is disconnected!" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  23. Whabby I think you and I like little things like plot lines and intelligent writing! LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  24. LYNN D & WHABBY - Silence of the Lambs is so more my speed!!! WHABBY I too loved the slasher flicks when I was younger, but now I couldn't care less. LYNN D lmfao @ plot lines and intelligent writing!!!

  25. Good Morning Owls!

I'm not a fan of horror movies either so I haven't seen Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc. I think the last scary movie I saw was Stephen King's IT, and that clown haunted me for days. LOL!

I had my hysterectomy on a Friday the 13th, and all went well so the superstition doesn't worry me. :)

I know I've mentioned this before, but I never learned how to type so I'm very slow at it. That's why I couldn't keep up with the comments last night. Thanks again to everyone who had fun with the senior pic prank and to those who helped! :)

Hello to everyone and hope you have a fun Friday the 13th!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lynn D: Have you ever heard of "The Fermi Paradox"? Google it and read about it if you haven't. One of the proposed solutions to the paradox is the "zoo" hypothesis, which basically holds that advanced alien civilizations keep a "hands-off" attitude toward their less advanced counterparts, waiting for us to evolve before announcing their presence.

The novel 2001: A Space Odyessy is one I highly recommend to get a taste for how beings that emerge much earlier than we have might choose to interact with us.

  27. Good morning, HOdi and Amicus!

Jodi, interesting, isn't it? I wonder if we lose the interest in horror movies for the same reason that most of us lose interest in thrill seeking generally!

    ReplyDelete
  28. CAROL - That video was freakin' hilarious!!! Boy I miss Arsenio.....his show was so much fun!!

I hope everyone has a great Friday!! Thanks again for all the shout outs last night when we had tornadoes all around us.....thankfully the tornado veered east and me and my family are fine!!!

    HAPPY 13th BIRTHDAY to TINA'S J & S!!! I hope you have a fun day!!!

  29. Hi Ebj, amicus, jodi and Bear Buddy!

  30. Congrats on 1st Tinka!

Good morning and Happy Friday the 13th Want, Bonnie, LynnD, Dreama, Ronnie, EBJ, Whabbear and anyone else who arrives while I type.

Interesting topic Carol. Horror movies are either really good or really bad. I remember watching a scene (I think it was a Friday the 13th movies) where teenagers were partying at this cabin. The killing begins and this girl starts to go down in the basement. Partway down someone or something grabs her ankle. She screams and run back up, stopping at the top of the stairs. Then she turns and goes back down. WTF! Stuff like that drives me crazy. I liked the Alien series of movies.

    ReplyDelete
  31. WHABBY - Still love the thrill....especially the hunt!! But I guess I have moved on with the movies. As Arsenio would say...."things to make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm"!!!

  34. I can't stay on the roof THAT long Jodi !

  35. Good Morning Again - I would rather play at the computer than do housework.

Whabbear - One more way we differ and that's on horror movies. We do both love "Ghost Whisperer" however but that's a different genre.

EBJ - Getting a new baby on Friday the 13th certainly makes that your whole family's lucky day.

Lynn - Loved your "number is disconnected" line.

Jodi - You liked horror movies when you were young. At what age will you allow your kids to see them?

Amicus - You say you are slow at typing. I have noticed you are the most accurate. I don't think I have ever seen you make a typo. Your posts are always set up so nicely too, using bold letters etc. I guess speed isn't everything.

    I must get to work.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Shirley - You slipped in while I was typing. Good Morning to you.

Jodi - I am so glad you weren't affected by the tornadoes. I was worried about you.

    asst. muffins
    toast (white, ww, brown, 12grain)
    eggs any style
    bacon (reg or turkey)
    slimfast for Tinka
    juices
    rea
    coffee
    water
    milk (white, soy or choc)

    Some morning humor

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

24 hours in a day. 24 cans in a tray of beer. Coincidence?

Avenge yourself. Live long enough to be a problem to your kids.

There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems.

    Have a good day everyone.

  38. Morning Owls!

I don't like scary movies either! I saw the BEGINNING of Frankenstein when I was a kid and it scared me so much I left the theater, I still had nightmares for ages.

Dreama...what a crappy day you had...I really think you should stay away from all things involving water :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good morning, Shirley and Tink!

Yes, we do have Ghost Whisperer in common! And it's been renewed for another season!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Tinka remember your company is coming to see you not your house. So don't wear yourself out before she gets there. My mum use to do that and then she was so tired she wasn't able to enjoy the company. Slow down. Have some breakfast. ((HUGS))

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jodi~~Good to see you and yours are safe. I just got an email from my niece in Appleton. Other than 2" of water in the basement, they're fine.

HATE slasher flicks and techno-gore. LOVE old classic scary movies, i.e. 'Wait Until Dark'.

Bear~~Crossing fingers for a safe landing tomorrow. Don't like seeing chunks of the shuttle break loose. Reality can be scarier than the movies!

Wing-waves to those who just landed or will later!

    ReplyDelete
  42. TINKA - Sam already loves scary movies....and she's almost 14. I don't have a problem with her seeing PG13 movies, but would think twice before I let her see anything rated R.

    ReplyDelete
  43. SHIRLEY - Just have time for a bagel and some fruit.....thank you.....a lovely spread like always!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good Morning BON!! Glad to hear your niece and her family is ok.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Whabby I have heard that theory but never new the name. I am sure from Mr. Lynn D. I do know we have 2001 around here in one of our bookcases. Mr. Lynn D has a wide range of subjects Science and Sci Fi.

Glad to see our WEsconsin peeps checking in!

I am foggy and muzzy headed this morning had an insomnia night so I am going to lay down before I go see the dentist. Must also make sure I have a clean shirt to drool on too.

Everyone have a great day and I will check back later.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Jodi. I'm glad everyone is ok. It must have been scary though.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Shirley - I just slipped back for some fresh fruit, muffin and a Slim Fast to go. Thanks for remembering I have Slim Fast for lunch everyday. I so agree. I tend to clean out back cupboards and basements where I know my guests are not going to be in. I end up tiring myself out. It's nice to know I am not the only one. Did your mum ever learn? My mom didn't and I don't think I will either.

Whabbear - Great news that there will be a new season of G. W. I wonder how the fire will affect their story line? Do you think Melinda will get pregnant this season now that her father issue has been worked out?

Jodi - My kids loved the horror pictures too. I just can't understand the desire to be so scared. Whatever rings your chimes I guess.

  49. Wow! This nest is a jumping place this morning!

Carol: Love the blog! Very funny! I am not into movies that blood and gore, but I do love the thrillers. (Yes, I agree about intelligent writing and plot lines)!

Tink: Congrats on being number one! I agree with what Shirley said to you. People want to see YOU! Take it easy so you can enjoy the company!

Shirley: Glad to see you being more active it the nest! It really does help lift the spirits, doesn't it? I always enjoy seeing you here! Thanks for the breakfast and the laughter! You are great!

Whabbear: I so enjoy reading what you have to say! You are so intelligent! You're like "Spock" only with emotions! ; )

Jodi: I am so glad you and your family are safe! We had some bad storms around 11:30 PM and they seemed to roll on all night (but I didn't have any trouble falling asleep)! It was so good to hear your voice! Thanks so much for calling me!

Morning to the rest: Ronnie, EBJ, Lynn D, Amicus, Want, Scirish, and Bon'o! Hope everyone has a terrific day! (Regardless of the superstition!)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lynn D: Good luck at the dentist! I do not wish to trade places with you! I know I need to go too!

    Tinka - congrats on FIRST!!

    Waving HI to everyone -

    Goldie - DRIVE SAFE!!!

I have NEVER liked horror films and have only been to a handful in my entire life time!!

Give me a good romantic comedy and I'm there!!

I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
    :-)

  52. Good morning/afternoon (it's afternoon here!) owls! I pray that everyone with bad weather last night is safe today. Scary stuff!

Carol, funny clip--thanks for the laugh! I know this sounds so ridiculous now but I saw "Night of the Living Dead" when I was 15 and NO LIE, I had nightmares for a YEAR after that! I was certain one of those dead people was going to get me. Since then I do not like scary movies. I guess I'm a weenie.

Dreama, good golly woman! Knocked yourself out on the tub?? I'm so glad you're okay! And then pit bulls after your baby?? Geez, today has to be better, huh?

Tinka, enjoy your guests! Shirley is so right . . . but I'm like you, too. When we first moved here three years ago, we had SO many visitors! I loved it but I was so worn out. I sort of felt like I was running a hotel. So, take it easy and just enjoy your company.

EBJ, lovely picture yesterday. I KNEW those eyes didn't belong to Amicus! LOL I was all confused!

I hope everyone has a great day! I used to be superstitious but not so much anymore.

  53. cgpem - that clip was HILARIOUS!! thanks for sharing that with us..

  54. Good morning everyone!

Tinka Way to go being first this morning.

Shirley Thank you for another lovely breakfast. I'll have scrambled eggs and toast, please. Oh, and lots of coffee.

MEK Geez, you got a 69 and I haven't even had breakfast yet! LOL

I like thrillers but not slasher movies. I saw The Exorcist when it first came out in the theaters and I found it very disturbing. Even more disturbing, I saw a woman in the restroom with her small child who she was telling, "See, that will happen to you if you aren't good". WTF???? I wanted to slap her silly. Some people soooooooo stupid that it's criminal.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I meant, "Some people ARE so stupid that it's criminal".

  56. Friday the 13th has always freaked me out.

  67. funny thing about zombies....the kids and i have a running joke about our escape plan for when our area is attacked by zombies! we are running for the mountains or headed out to sea!

i remember watching the friday late night horror flicks too. night of the living dead, etc. and i watched night gallery and night stalker and the twilight zone. good times!

    ReplyDelete
  71. 90- It is the best I can do-it is naptime!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm guessing Iteach cuz she guessed Amicus and that's what Amicus guessed yesterday but it was really EBJ cuz they tried to fool us, which they did, and then Carol said it wasn't Amicus so...never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm thinking that cutie in the pic is our Hawaiian lovely, Turtle. I think those are her eyebrows.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Tina I hated it when my kids started driving, too. Scary!

    Happy Birthday to your twins!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Tina Happy Birthday to the boys!

  76. Shirley: LOL!

I'll give you all another hint today. It's not me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Good afternoon to everyone who flew in after my last post.

    Tina~
When I was teaching my daughter to drive, sometimes I would let her drive the last three blocks home, after we entered out subdivision.

Well, each and every time we were getting out to trade seats, my son, who is three years younger, would get out and say he wasn't riding if she was going to drive. Then he would walk the rest of the way home. That kid was seriouly scared.

You have a lot to look forward to. lol

    ReplyDelete
  78. Tina Congrats on your quick step to 100.

    ReplyDelete
  79. lol ronnie....the problem at our house is I'M the one who wants out of the car!!! :)~

thanks shirley and j/l~ i'm off to take the kids to lunch....God help me if they pick someplace nasty...or crap! expensive!!! :)~

    ReplyDelete
  80. well....i'm stumped. i'm going to go with amicus. but i'm not real secure in that guess!
can't wait to find out later who it is!

    ReplyDelete
  81. ok....changed my mind. i was not sure...but now i'm going with turtle. that's my guess and i'm sticking to it!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I'm feeling pretty confident about my guess that it's Turtle.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Okay, after much research I am guessing today's owl is IBB. However, this is "I so stink at this" Sandie.

    Shirley, you're funny! But, I understood everything you said . . .

Tina, Happy B-day to the twins. Thank goodness they're boys. I can't imagine having two of my 12-year-old daughter!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Well, I have no idea yet, and I need to go to the grocery store.

I'll guess later, but whomever she is, she's just precious. I do notice the 'wings' that were popular in the 80's, though.

OMG, I hope I didn't offend anyone again by suggesting approximate years for graduation.

    bbl

    ReplyDelete
  85. My guess for today is IBB!!! Surprised she isn't wearing MEK's lovely orange mushroom shirt!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Oh, and btw.....TINA'S twins are one each!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Before I read anything I am sure this is Amicus. If it isn't then I really am bad at this game.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oops, thanks Jodi. Sorry, Tina.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I think it's Turtle too! (Esp. because she had the beautiful Avitar of herself and now it's been replaced by her doggie). It looks like her eyes!

    ReplyDelete
  90. However, Tina did say IBB and she has never been wrong yet! (DARN IT)!

Whoever it is, she is a cutie! (Reminds me of my hair-do that I had)! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  91. 115 - Well now Tina is saying IBB. I won't change my guess it wouldn't be fair.

Tina - Happy Birthday to your twins. Congrats on 100.

    Other number congratulations.
    Jodi - 50
    Jennifer - 60
    Mek - 65 to 70 including the infamous 69
    Iteach 75 and 90.

I am listening to all my owl friends who tell me not to
work too hard and I think I am hearing you. I think I have prepared enough. I have a baseball game at 6:30 tonight and another one at 10:00 tomorrow morning. Then Sunday is the Father's Day Picnic. So now I think I will go and have Shirley's Slim Fast. (thank you Sweetie) and a nap. I will be back to see if it is Amicus or IBB, as Tina the expert says.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Well that was silly. I should have known by the time I finished typing it would no longer be at #115. Have a good day everyone. Be back in a few hours.

    ReplyDelete
  93. HI EVERYONE!!

CPGEM: Oh..no horror movies for me, thank you. If there is the slightest chance that a movie might be scary, I bring out my pillow and peek over the edge!!

TINKA: Congrats on FIRST!! I see you have dueling hotties on your page..LOL! Please take a break from getting ready for your visitor, don't work too hard. Love you!!

LYNND: Good luck at the dentist. It's Friday the 13th and the Monkey Lady just called. I'll keep you posted. NO, I didn't answer it!!

RONNIE: Mr. Z LOVES both Friday the 13th and Halloween..all 27 of them..;)

WHABBEAR: Do you remember the ad campaign for Alien?? "In Space...No one can hear you scream..."?? I saw that movie with a friend the night it opened, so there were NO spoilers. Talk about suspense! I then came home to an empty house, as my folks were in Vegas..and stayed up all night, terrified!!

JODI: "Silence of the Lambs" is so good and so creepy...the books are great too. SWAK, just cuz. Glad everyone is safe.

AMICUS: I could barely get through the book "IT", couldn't watch the movie. The book scared me enough.

SHIRLEY: Great to see you today!! Sorry I missed breakfast.

MEK: {{HUGS}} to you...I didn't forget to answer..will do that tonight.

TINA: Happy Birthday to your wonderful twins...that would be your children, you goof! ;)

J/LIN: OMG! I can't believe anyone would say that to their child! I only read 33 pages of The Exorcist..to this day "Tubular Bells" freaks me out.

SANDIE: I checked out the most current adventures of your pups..loved it!

WAVING HI to BONO, WANT, JENNIFER, SCIRISH, ITEACH and a Big thank you and hug for CPGEM!!

  97. I was on the phone with Seaside Lady when the report broke into the soap opera..

This is SHOCKING news - he apparently collapsed at work and could not be revived...

What are we going to do come election time? I need to see the dry chalk board.......

crap - if you haven't read his book, you need to - it's a great read........... about his father.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Just Lin and Iteach - it's really sad.........

    ReplyDelete
  99. MEK....you're so right....election coverage will not be the same without Tim.

    ReplyDelete
  100. So very sad about the untimely death of Tim Russert. Very moving tributes continuing on CNN.

  101. I'm back from the grocery store, and they had the most gorgeous huge plump tomatoes, that no one is buying because of the danger of salmonella. The newspaper said we can eat them if they're still on the vine, which they were, but why chance it? They were really proud of them, also, @ 3.99 a lb. Oh well, never mind....

I'm going to make my one and ONLY guess about our beautiful Owl Graduate, and I think she is.....
IBB, because of her cute freckles.

bbl, need to go put a turkey breast in the oven.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I'm really going to miss Tim. This is such a shame, and so very young.
What a sad day for his family.

Jodi, you're so right about the election coverage not going to be the same.

  104. Oh my, I can't believe Tim Russert
passed away, I am going to miss him. Geez and only 59 yrs old...

I wonder if he had a ongoing problem?

    ReplyDelete
  105. MEK: I'm not sure what's more upsetting - Tim's death, or the fact that your conversations with Seaside Lady are soap operas!

Zona: Absolutely! I loved that caption!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Whabby - you ALWAYS manage to put a smile on my face!!

    disclaimer:
we both had All My Children on in the background of our conversation.

    LOL

  108. Hi All!
Horrible news about Tim Russert. So unexpected.

Shirley: I liked your Breakfast spread and your little quips.

tink: congrats on First! When will your guest arrive? My son brought some cool stuff back from Japan.

Cpgem: nice and funny clip. Who is that host, I can't remember his name.

Dreama: I would be scared if I had pit bulls next door! Well, my next door neighbor has one but it is timid and likes other dogs. The kind you have would scare the beejeezus outta me!

    ReplyDelete
  109. OMG!!! That is so sad about Tim (the "Meet the Press" guy)! I haven't had TV on except for the soccer matches (and they didn't break in). Then Katie and I watched a movie. I just looked at everyone's messages!

I'm at my second house (the one I am "house sitting" for my friend). We are going to take a walk (she lives right by a nice park) and then we are going to soak in her hot-tub which will feel good because my back has been aching!

OK...I have more things to do then a walk.

    Talk to you all later!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Tinka: Thanks for not noticing my typos. :) I hope you have a fun time with your former student!

Zona: I was scared to brush my teeth or look in the rear-view mirror of my car for at least a week or two after watching that movie. :)

Waving back at Whabby, Want, Jennifer, Sandie!

I'll be back later to see who the cutie-patootie mystery Owl is. :)

  111. To continue with my stress eating.

when Mr. MEK got home - I made homemade chocolate milkshakes - now we have ordered calzones to be delivered from Pizza Hut!!

I am just going to eat myself SICK.

and - on horror things - I still am in awe of Barb in WA watching a scary movie in a theater ALL BY HERSELF!!!!!!!! goodness - I would have freaked out (but I wouldn't have been at that movie in the first place!! LOL)

  112. Hello Owls! I survived Friday the 13th so far and it only cost me $500! While I was at the store getting juice boxes this morning for our kindergarten class, my firend's husband noticed a nail in my tire. Then he noticed that it was time for new tires... and since I have all-wheel drive, I had to replace all 4 of them. NOT fun, but I guess it was GOOD luck that someone noticed before I learned the hard way. Right?

I used to love scary movies, but now I go out of my way to not see scary or sad films. My neighbor wants me to see "The Notebook" so badly, but I have heard that it is sad... makes people cry... so I refuse to watch. It took me years to watch the Sixth Sense and I loved it, but I was so afraid of being scared.

For me there is already so much sadness and horror in real life (hey, have you watched the news lately?) so I am always looking for a movie to make me laugh or feel happy. The last two films I have seen both made me happy. We took the kids to see Kung Fu Panda and I laughed out loud (which is rare for me, especially in a kid's cartoon!) And the second was Sex and the City (without the children, thank you very much!) I was such a fan of the TV series that I have been waiting years to see what happened to the 4 friends. It also brought back many wonderful memories of days spent in NYC... though never as exciting or risque as Carrie, Myranda, Charlotte and Samantha!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Glynis: I loved Sex and the City too! It was so good. I saw it with my daughter.

My hubby plugs my tire if I get a nail. I hate buying new tires, it is very expensive. You sure did have an expensive day. :(

OMG: You will love the Notebook! It is one of my favorite movies. It is not too sad, mostly sweet and an awesome AWESOME story. You will LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Well, that is my opinion anyway. :)

    ReplyDelete
  114. Bebbi~ The host on the video was Arsenio Hall. We used to love watching his show. Don't remember what happened to make him disappear. (Maybe it was Jason?)

    ReplyDelete
  115. My son came back from Japan and lo and behold, he bought a t-shirt with an OWL on it! I just took a picture of it. It looks like an angry owl..lol Tink, maybe your japanese friend can tell me what the shirts say. My son bought a whole bunch and no idea what they say. :)

    ReplyDelete
  116. The tire was too damaged to just patch the nail hole. Oh well, I won't have to worry about tires again for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I kept thinking of Montel Williams..thanks, that was driving me CRAZY! I bet that Jason did get him, he looked a little skerrrrrrrrrred there at the end!

    ReplyDelete
  118. That's true, always nice to have new tires, once you bite the bullet. :) My hubby bought me a tire for my birthday..lol. I had to buy two, but I still need another two, just have been trying to make it for a while before I do. I hate spending money on tires, there is so much more I would RATHER do..lol :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. Glynis, I think I'M the only person in the world who hasn't seen "The Sixth Sense!" I will one day, even though I know about the end. I told you I was a weenie! The Notebook is a great movie but the book was even better. I did cry while reading the book and cried the whole last chapter.

Zona!! Thank you for reading my blog. I'm so glad you like it--I really enjoy writing it although my family thinks I'm nuts. :D

Tina, did you have a good lunch with your birthday twins?

    ReplyDelete
  120. hi luc & remy,
I agree, the book was better. Did you read other works by Nicholas Sparks? I met him once, he came in to sign books at the bookstore I managed. Sweetest person ever.

I had said that IBB is so cute in that picture, and her and MEK look a lot alike!

The sky is hazy here from the Santa Cruz fire. It's in the 90s today and it very strange that the sky isn't real blue.

What is everyone doing this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  132. EBJ, Did the fires die down today? I heard that they did on the news. Also, someone I work with who lives in Sacramento said that they had them contained now.

    ReplyDelete
  133. awwwwwwww.....it's ibb!!! you're so cute!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  136. IBB: BEAUTIFUL picture! We had similar hair styles back then, didn't we?!

It's been a busy day, but found time to take a walk with Katie. We also made sure my friend's hot tub was still working properly! (Which felt good after a walk)! I love house sitting for my friend! (But of course I love it better when she's here though)! She's like a sister to me!

Well, I had better get going.

Hope everyone is having a great evening!

    ReplyDelete
  137. OMG!! I actually had a Slurpee today! No, not that kind TINA. ;) We went to 7-11..which I wasn't even sure existed anymore, and I got a Coke Slurpee...I'm telling you, it was Nirvana for under two dollars! I felt like a kid again! :)

MEK: I was at Sam's Club and saw golf in perfect sync on 30 HDTV sets and thought of you!! You would have loved it!! Oh, and went to MEKals..oh boy do I have a tale to tell!! You'll be proud of me!

WHABBEAR: I have a Science question. I'm sure it'll be an easy one for you. I was pushing the cart around Sam's and got a static shock every 15 seconds. I felt like I was part of an experiment and people were watching me on cameras and laughing. I did everything I could think of to stop it, lifted my feet in big steps..held onto only the plastic part of the handle. Nothing worked. It did the same thing for Mr. Z. As we were leaving, they asked how our shopping experience was. I said "electifying" and explained. They told me that my cart must have been missing the chain in the wheel. Huh?? The wheels are rubber, shouldn't that stop the shock?? Can you explain this to me??? It was NOT a pleasant experience. Thank you!!

    Off to eat dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  138. zona:
I get brain freeze when I drink a slurpee! :O)
