♪♪"All Summer Long"♪♪
Kid Rock "All Summer Long"
i was listening to the radio last week
while driving, and this wonderful "summer
tune" came on, and i found myself "kinda
jammin", well to be truthful, as much as one
can jam at 47 :O)
i did not catch the singers name, just the title
of the song, and the voice i could not place
so i did what we all do, i googled it!
and boy was i surprised!
next step, you tube, and there was the video,
i have watched it several times since i found it
and just can't the tune out of my head
the lyrics are what get me the most, once
you listen to them, you want to hear them
again, because, well for me, it brought back
many memories from my teen years down
the Jersey Shore, the beach, the boardwalk,
the Jersey (guido) boys, and some "funny"
things!
find the memories, they are there, and
Enjoy!
Happy Sunday~

Hope everyone is enjoying the last day of a terrific weekend...

Good Morning Ronniegirl - Congrats on First.
ReplyDeletewell, maybe I'll dance and sing a little more...
ReplyDeleteme me me me me.
cough, cough
How are you doing this morning?
ReplyDeleteGood morning Tink. How's your morning?
ReplyDeleteI'm doing great.
ReplyDeleteI heard you coughing. Is it an allergy, a cold or are you trying to wake someone up. I am telling you nothing works. These owls are deep sleepers.
ReplyDeleteHave you had your orange juice yet?
ReplyDeleteI feel great. I love early mornings in the summer time. I haven't read the post yet.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the sleeping patterns the other day. You're right, they sleep very soundly.
ReplyDeleteI will be right back Ronnie. I am going to read the blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the early summertime mornings too.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be back in a bit. I'm starving and need some breakfast. I believe I'll eat it on my patio, which I do alot in the good ole summertime.
I hate to admit this but I have never heard this song before. I do have songs however that bring back memories of my youth, back in the olden days. I will write about them later. My owl does not want his picture up too often today. He says it is embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteRonnie - I see you are leaving. I will leave too and come back in about an hour when the nest fills up. I am going to sit out on my deck too. I love Summer.

ReplyDeleteGood Morning TINKA and RONNIE!
ReplyDeleteRONNIE...congrats on 1st!
TINKA...your owl shouldn't be embarassed EVER!
See ya in a bit...
CAROL...love the lyrics to the song! My summer of 89 was pretty darn good.......
ReplyDeleteAll my summers in L.A were good if I remember correctly..........
my summer of 79 was incredible! I took my first vacation with friends and we went to Virginia Beach...the Peppermint Beach Club, the ocean, the Navy boys, the rum.....................
ReplyDeleteThe summer of 99 totally sucked
ReplyDeleteZona- I never did get to comment about my neighbors yesterday on your awesome blog.
ReplyDeleteNothing exciting, my neighbors are wonderful.
They are quiet, but we always look out for each other.
I absolutely love my neighbors.
This is the first time I have heard this song and I love it.
ReplyDeleteGood morning everyone!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Ronnie for being first today!
I'm working extra so will try to check in later.
Hope you all have a nice Sunday!
Mo- the summer of 89 was good to me too. I was 19 and having a great time.

ReplyDeleteMorning ladies.
ReplyDeleteI just woke up, but with it only being 5:02 I will go right back to sleep...lol.
BUT... One of the reasons I think this song hits so many people is it samples two other hugely popular songs. Warewolf in London is the first the piano hook runs thru the whole song...and the second is Sweet Home Alabama. Funny thing is Kid Rock either covers others or samples others in most every song he records.
Still a fun song tho....ok back to bed for me.
Happy Sunday!!
ReplyDeleteRonnie - congrats on FIRST..
good morning, Ronnie, Tinka, MO, Iteach, EBJ and all who land after!
I'm off to listen to the song!!
Whabby - what is happening to Roger??!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Hey K'girl!! morning!!!! good to see you!!
ReplyDeleteCAROL - I just caught this song on the radio 2 weeks ago....a very catchy tune. One that does touch on "Sweet Home Alabama"....which I love!!! The summer of 89 I was busy finalizing our wedding plans and attended my 5 year class reunion!!!
ReplyDeleteMy back is getting a bit better. Hoping a hot shower will do me good. :D
Good morning to all my HO's!!!
I'll check in later.
30!!! Just for shits and giggles!!! :D
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteWohoo Ronnie slid into first!
Watched the video and I would like to say the last time I wore a bikini was when I was about 13 and I never looked like the girls in the video!
Summer of 89 I was raising kids and would barely put on a one piece suit for the summer.
I have this problem with memory. I have a hell of a time remembering years. When I say a year ago it could actually have been 2. I even have to ask my kids to remind me what year they were born.
That being said I don't really remember my favorites summer. It is all kind of a out of focus memory slide show. I know I know lay off smoking funny things.
I remember drive in movies and hanging out at the beach sometimes.
One memorable year a friend and I and her boyfriend grabbed innertubes and decided to float down one of the many rivers in our area. It was great we smoked some funny things and then I had an allergy attack and my whole face swelled up and I couldn't breathe. They had to take me to the hospital and we were all a little high.
That was probably the summer of 78 or 79 (see that memory thing again) I would like to tell you it scared us straight but we were laughing to hard after I got my shot of benadryl and adrenalin to counter act the allergy attack. We were young what did we know I think we went to a friends later and had some Boones farm wine or Annie greensprings!
Ahhh youth!
Who is hogging myspaz??? (Thanks again EBJ)
ReplyDeleteI can't get in! Why does this drive me crazy?
Why do I let it affect my day??
Why can't I move forward until I get in?
I need a drink.
Good Morning Everyone!
ReplyDeleteI want to thank everybody for all the great comments on the blog I wrote yesterday. I loved reading about your childhood neighborhoods and where you are living now.
Today is my sister's birthday, but we had her party last night. Mr. Z and I spent all day out and about getting the things we needed for it. Not a big party, but it was nice. Sadly, she refused to get up on the roof for old time's sake. ;)
I was so happy that TINKA and VIG met. I'm sorry I wasn't at home to take the phone call that would have included me in High Tea, but thank you both for thinking of me. I hope no cream puffs or eclairs were eaten...ick. ;P
Off to watch the video and read the blog!!
Good morning all! Happy Sunday to Ronnie, Tink, Maureen, Iteach, EBJ, Kgirl, MEK, Jodi, Lynn_D and to those who fly in later!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, song and video, Carol. I have never heard or seen it before...love the music and videos you bring to the blog!
1979, 1989..I have always loved summer....no snow and it is light past 5pm!!!!
Hey..I just saw that one of my favourite books has been made into a movie and I am so excited. Sue Monk Kidd's book "The Secret Life of Bees" (which was on Sandie's book club list last week) will be released in October this year and stars Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keyes. I can hardly wait! And only two more weeks now to wait for "Mama Mia" to be released!
Happy Sunday Owls. Is everyone recovering from their eGGciting (for you Lynn) weekend?
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard of Kid Rock was when he hooked up with Pamela Anderson, so I have never heard this song. But I liked it.
I am off to church and then to usher so I will be back later tonight. Have a great day everyone.
Waving a wing at Ronnie, (congrats on #1), Tinka, Mo, Iteach, EBJ, K-girl, Jodi, LynnD, MEK, and everyone else who lands after me.
Zona...flying in at the same time. Glad the party went well last night! Happy Birthday, Zona's sister!! For you no eclairs or cream puffs were consumed at the High Tea, but instead had tea called "Old Blue Eyes" in your honor!
ReplyDeleteSacBarb...sounds like you have a busy day. Hope it is a great one!
Hey Zona and VIG. I think we were typing at the same time.
ReplyDeleteOk, gotta go. BBL
CPGEM: The summer I loved was '79. I was 19 years old, which brought new freedoms..and new adventures. I think I'll leave it at that...but damn I had fun!! ;)
ReplyDeleteRGIRL: Congrats on FIRST lovely lady!!
TINKA: Loved the pics of you and VIG on Myspace...they are just great! And, well...yes I'm a bit jealous. :)
MO: Ahhh...yes....the rum...and the boys....oh, and the rum...and of course, the boys...;)
KGRL: I thought I heard "Werewolf of London" in there...
JODI: I'm glad your back is feeling a bit better. I threw mine out in the pool, diving...;)
LYNND: I'm sorry you had an allergic reaction...I just fell down a mountain. ;D
Waving HI to MEK, EBJ, and ITEACH!!!
Zona - I haven't read the comments yet but I wanted to post under you. Thanks for the phone call this morning. It was a great way to spend an hour on Sunday morning. I did as you told me to and I ate breakfast before I got back on the computer. I would like to know just "when does the mother become the child"? I am suspecting it was this morning. Love you.
ReplyDelete40
ReplyDeleteVIG: HI!! I want to see "Mama Mia"...I'm not sure what it's about, but Pierce Brosnan is in it!! Thanks for drinking "Old Blue Eyes"...I often wish I could have had a drink WITH Old Blue Eyes..:)
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: Have a wonderful day!
Well I finally made it in to MS and I can get on with my day!
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to tell you guys I received my 5 copies of inlaws and outlaws.
I am keeping one but want to share the other 4 with you guys.
The first 4 of you that MS me with your addresses I will send you a copy next week. I will keep track of anyone else and send a note to the owls that have them and ask that they mail them to the next 4 on the list.
This is going to be so fun!
TINKA: I'm glad you ate breakfast..I was getting worried! Love you too...and I always enjoy our phone calls. :)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning again. It's nice to see the nest fill up.
ReplyDeleteMaureen - My owl thanks you. I told him you said he didn't have to ever feel embarrassed.
Iteach - It made me feel better when I read that a young girl like you had never heard that song before either.
East Bay J - Don't work too hard. Take lots of breaks.
K-Girl - Have a good sleep. Is it hot there?
Jodi - I am happy your back is getting better. Please take care.
Lynn D - I loved your expression "out of focus memory slide show". If you don't mind I am going to use that one.
VIG - Enjoy your walk. The sun is coming out. I think it's going to be a nice day after all.
SacBarb - I will go to church this afternoon. After so many years of having to get up early to go to Mass on Sunday, I rather like going in the middle of the day now.
Zona - VIG had the "Old Blue Eyes" tea in your honour. I thought of you with each morsel of sweets. I will be eating very little these next few days. It was worth it though. I ate without guilt.
All the summers of my youth were great. There was very little planned activity. The days rolled happily by. We were only in our homes long enough to eat meals and sometimes they were outside as well.
One favourite memory I have was sleeping outside in hammocks tied between trees in my best friend's back yard. At 11:00 the local beer parlor, which was about a block away, would close and the streets would be so noisy for about a half hour. I never felt we were in any danger but there is no way I would let my kids or grandkids sleep outside in the backyard today. We felt so safe snuggled down in our sleeping bags watching the stars as we drifted off to sleep.
My flowers on the deck are calling me and telling me they need a drink so I must tend to them. Have a great Sunday everyone. I will be back this evening. Thanks again for all the nice comments about VIG's and my pictures taken on our outing.

ReplyDeleteGood morning, Owls!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had a long day yesterday and felt like crap last night. I feel better today but still not up to par.
Ronnie Happy 1st to you today!
Carol Great blog and video. That really is a happy tune. A very cheerful way to start a summer Sunday.
When I was a teenager, I lived in Southern California and we spent alot of time at the beach soaking up rays, meeting boys, all that good stuff. Folk music was starting to be popular and we'd go to a coffee house called the Prison of Socrates and enjoy our espressos, lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, etc., and listen to the singer/guitarist. We felt quite wordly and sophisticated at the time.
*****From Area 51******
Zona Great blog about neighborhoods. Yours sounds great!
There is one crappy house on our street and I live next to it. I have shrubbery, and trees that block my view of it. I feel sorry for the folks who live across the street from it, though.
When I was a kid, we lived 3 doors down from our family doctor. He had a daughter one year younger than me and we would play together alot. He also had a young lion named Taffy. I would play ball with the lion and help roll huge meatballs stuffed with vitamins for him. Late at night, if you had to take the garbage out or something, it was a little disconcerting to hear the lion huffing and roaring. The sound would seem to go right through your body. Once when my family was returning home late at night, we heard on the car radio that a lion was loose in Glendora. We knew, of course, that it was Taffy. It was a little nerve racking to walk, in the dark, from the car to the house that night.
The crabbiest neighbor lived across the street from the lion's house. He would get mad at us kids if our ball rolled onto his yard. He was very concerned about his lawn and flowers. Well, the morning after the Taffy escape, we could see that the crabby neighbor's flower bed was completely flattened and destroyed. It seems Taffy had enjoyed laying in it at some time during the night.
Now I know, of course, how inappropriate it was for that family to have a lion. They did end up giving Taffy to an animal sanctuary where it was able to roam on in a more natural habitat.
Shit, that was a long-ass post! Sorry! I should have broken it up into two sections.
ReplyDeleteTurtle Thanks for mentioning Werewolf of London. I was wondering what it was about the Kidd Rock song that seemed familiar. No wonder I like the song.
ReplyDeleteZONA - So great to talk with you today!!! Just finished another episode. ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday. I'm in heaven....watching a Harry Potter marathon on the Family Channel!!! Just the thing to make doing laundry a bit more tolerable. :D
50!!!
ReplyDeleteBack to the movie and laundry!!!
Whabby - I hope you are able to watch this tennis match - I thought the rain delay would be a bad thing - but it's working out pretty well....... 5th set.... anyone's match!!
ReplyDeletewaving at Jodi, Just Lin (hope you are feeling better), Lynn D, SacBarb, VIG, Zona (happy birthday to your sister)...
we arent' getting anything done - this tennis match is like the energizer bunny!!
Flying through.....
ReplyDeleteWe are heading out to see another movie. One that Mr. Lynn D wanted to see. I am not crazy about it but thought I would be nice. LOL
Will be back later gators!
Good afternoon friends!! I felt a spurt of energy today and got right up at noon and showered, blow-dryed hair, turned on my favorite country station and am in my office trying to make a dent in the mess and organize. It is not often I feel energized!
ReplyDeleteTINK: I have never heard that song on the blog either but I do know who Kid Rock is but mostly from ET.
LYNND: I am just like you remembering years. I am always off on what year something was and I am also off on how old kids are..I still think they are 20 and they are 30. My mom was so great remembering all these things and the dates. It is often I wish I could still call her and ask her a date or place.
RONNIE: I haven't heard you talk about going "fishing" lately. Is that still one of your past-times? How is that going?
WOW...it was 98 here yesterday. We stayed in the cool house all day. Our humidity went up to maybe 15%!!!!
TINA: Thanks for fixing my picture of my grandson on MS. I was getting very frustrated after two hours the other night.
Hi Gang !
ReplyDeleteIt's 90 degrees here and the humidity seems about the same. I guess my plans for playing outside in my little garden will have to wait.
Enjoy your day everyone!
ZONA: Your back hurts from "diving" (I noticed you put it in quotes). If you remember correctly, BONO AND I dropped by that swimming party but did a quick exit!!
ReplyDeleteFROM AREA 51: Great blog yesterday Zona. We live in a patio home area so most of the people that live here are retired and I think we are one of the younger couples. It is a nice quiet area and everyone is friendly. If I would get more involved in their card parties, etc., I would know them better but I am not into that too much.
I go by our old neighborhood where we grew up sometimes but it isn't very nice anymore. I sometimes sit in front of our old house and just think of memories but then I get nervous that the police will come and think I am a stalker.
Ok....back to work. I want to read the paper but I will fall asleep so I am determined to get done in here first.!! Have a good afternoon. BTW, where is all the food today? I can't even find any leftovers in the refrig from the 4th..not even a darn beer!
WANT2SLEEP: What are you doing awake this time of day. Guess if it is hot...you need to take a nap. Don't you want our humidity? Nighty night
ReplyDeleteI'm always awake at this time dianne, i think !! lol
ReplyDeleteOh we have enough humidity,,,plenty, but, thank you.
Good Morning Nest!
ReplyDeleteOh...oops...Good Afternoon!!
I have been incredibly lazy this morning. The kids and hubby all slept in, so I stayed in bed and read...and read... and when the kids decided they couldn't survive anymore on bananas, milk and cereal I got up. But my book is right by me, so I can steal a few more chapters this afternoon. (I am reading "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson.)
Summer always makes me feel like finding a sunny spot and curling up with a good book. Summer also brings on good music and good movies. All of which seem to help you remember on those cold wintery days that the sun does shine part of the year.
Hope you all have a good book and a sunny spot to curl up in to read. Enjoy your Sunday!
Oh...Ronniegirl....Congrats on being first!!
ReplyDeleteThird day in a row...60 just because.
ReplyDeleteWell Mek what did you think of that tennis match? Wow! What a finish!
ReplyDeleteGood afternoon/early evening everyone!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st Ronnie!
Carol I have never heard that song before, but I liked it. All my summers kind of go blurr together. Nothing really stands out. We would sometimes borrow a camper trailer and go camping. One time we went over the Cabet Trail in Cape Breton but we couldn't see anything cause it was too foggy.
I do remember when I was little (about 7 or 8) going to visit my Uncle Lem who was a lighthouse keeper on Briar Island. To get there we had to cross on two ferries. If you went to the top of the lighthouse, sometimes you could see whales out in the Bay of Fundy.
One summer that does stand out is when I was thirteen. My Grammie (Dad's mother) and my Grammpie (mum's father) both pasted away within 6 weeks of each other. I had gotten into a little trouble at school and mum decided to ship me off to my Aunt and Uncle's house. My Aunt's sister was also visiting and she brought her cat. I have a cat phobia so you can imagine how I spent my summer. I did not sleep well, if at all. Everyone thought I was just being silly and told me to get over it. I was really glad to get back to school that year.
Dianne I'll leave some chicken, ham & cheese and egg sandwiches in the frig for you. If you look into the vegetable crisper I think you'll find a couple beer left.
Good Morning everyone~
ReplyDeleteI really need to start sleeping when everyone else does~
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st Ronniebitchhogirl~ :)~
ReplyDeleteIt's raining~
ReplyDeleteSun's not out~
ReplyDeletego figure....it was 100 degrees earlier this week~
ReplyDelete69~
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~
ReplyDeleteThe summer of '89 was great.....the Mr finally asked me to marry him~ (i said yes!) We were married a year to the day later~
ReplyDeleteZona~ you want to see Mama Mia? hmmmmmm~ :)~ btw...the reason you want to see it is because Colin Firth is in it...don't forget that! :)~
Dianne_with_energy_in_Denver~ You're welcome~ It took all of 2 minutes~
Maybe I should take up beach volleyball, the outfits are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLaughing my ass off.......
Shirley - that was an AMAZING tennis match!! I didn't think it would ever end - and didn't end the way I would have liked it too.
ReplyDeleteTina - aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh...
Dianne -busy organizing - in denver - I would have read the paper and taken a nap!! LOL
Want2 - LOL at the beach volleyball "outfits" - i have often wondered why the women have barely anything on and the guys get to wear baggy swim trunks that hit their knee!! NOT FAIR!! (although, i really would NOT like to see speedos - but I think you get my point!!)!!!
It's a lazy day here in AZ - we watched the tennis - then switched over to baseball..... that's about it from here!!!
Hope everyone that is traveling home today - has safe travels!!!
SHIRLEY: Thanks so much for the food. I love egg salad sandwiches and I found the beer. I didn't think to look in the vegtable crisper--someone must have been hiding it. Have any of you tried the new Bud Light Lime beer? It is pretty good. Again, thanks SHIRLEY as I was famished doing all this manual labor today.
ReplyDeleteTINA: Two minutes for you and two hours for me (with no success). Thanks again.
ZONA: I can't wait to see MaMa Mia. I think I told you I saw the show about a month ago and loved it and last night I saw more trailers on ET for the movie. It is a smile movie!!
Ok...back to work and TINA, you forgot to tell me 100 temps were on the way yesterday. It is cloudy here today and only 66--wahoo...my kind of weather. JENNIFER, you need to be here enjoying this with me. I think you and I are the only ones that like cloudy days.
MEK: I read the paper and take a nap almost every day so I was jumping on the minute I felt like working. It is beginning to fade fast. I have loved the Rockies games over the weekend. Pretty darn good comeback the other day! Hope you are wearing your shirt!
ReplyDeleteHello Everyone
ReplyDeleteI had a amazing long weekend, the weather was not perfect, but the company I was in was! There were about 14 of us, and we go along great! Lots of food, drink, and fun!
What a pleasure it was to spend time with all my favorite peeps. It was kinda sad today and when everyone went their own way.
We spent most of the time at the house, and it was somewhat like nothing else existed outside our four walls, and no one seemed to care!
Fun Time, Fun Memories...
Hope everyone is doing well ♥♥
I have alot to catch up on, so I will be back in a bit!
:O)
Shout out to Mo and Mek
ReplyDeletefor monitoring the blog while I was away!
Thank you so very much!
Carol Waving a wing at you. Glad you're home safe and sound and glad you had such a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol! Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteMek I'm sorry the match didn't end the way you wanted it to. I was very impressed with how gracious Federer was.
During the match did you notice Nadal kept pulling his undies out of his butt? I sure wouldn't have minded helping him out with that! What a nice ass he had! The rest of him wasn't bad either! Just an observation as a sport fan.
J/LIN: You lived next door to a...LION??? I think I'm speechless, for once...!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteJODI: LOL! LOL! Was it a special summer episode??
MEK: Thank you for Birthday wishes for my sis..I'll tell her!
DIANNE-too-observant-in DENVER: I didn't even notice you and BON'O were here to swim...I must have been underwater. Some of these dives take a lot of concentration. And skill. ;)
TINA: "It's raining..sun's not out"??? LOL!!
HI WANT! HI SHIRLEY!
HI CPGEM!! Did you have fun?? :)
ReplyDeleteTINA: YES!! YES!! I want to see Mama Mia! who..wha..huh..Colin Firth??? ;)
OMG!!!! Zona....why in God's name do you say you are shy? Just how long were you under water? :)~
ReplyDeletecpgem - happy to hear you are home safe and had a good time..
ReplyDeleteShirley - YES, i did notice that Nadal was having wedgie problems - in fact, told Mr. MEK that maybe if he won - he could do a fruit of the loom commerical!! LOL
Dianne got the last beer in Denver - we keep our beer in the veggie drawer!! LOL
Zona - glad you survived the swimming!! :-)
Baseball game is over - looks like Mr. Mek is going to do Wii Fit!! LOL - since we haven't done it in a couple days, both of our Mii's are snoring!!! (they reprimand you for NOT doing it everyday!!!)!!
bbl...
MEK: Thanks for the information. I will know right where to go in your refrig when I arrive for a visit one day.
ReplyDeleteZONA: BONO and I knew you were underwater..why do you think we left so quick? I think MrZ saw us. I'm guessing he didn't mention it. Hey BONO, didn't he wave at you? Yes, I am very observant missy!!
HI CAROL, welcome back. It sounds like you had a great time with your friends. How did you parents do? I'll bet just fine!
J/L: I never knew anyone that lived by a lion or any other wild animal. Maybe that is why you are such a "wild child"!!
I know I have mentioned this to all of you before but you crack me up with the names "in_Denver" you all come up with..you are all very funny!!
I swear - this Wii Fit is the greatest entertainment!!! I am literally laughing my ass off!!!
ReplyDeleteIf i didn't think he would get mad, i'd have the camera ready!!
LOL
Dianne - passing you a cold one - in denver!! Sounds like it was hotter there than here today!!!

ReplyDelete87 for big brother
ReplyDelete88 for little brother!!
ReplyDelete89 for the blog today
ReplyDeleteHey owls!
ReplyDeleteCarol, so glad you're back safely and had a good vacation. Everyone here was well-behaved. Even Tina. Were Mo and MEK in charge of her, too?
Just_Lin, you lived near a lion?? And then it escaped??? Good Lord!
We're having some gentle thunder storms here--kinda nice. We really need the rain.
Dianne-cracked-up-in-Denver I'm glad you like the names. Lol!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandie!
Hi Shirley!! Why don't you drop over for a cup of coffee?
ReplyDeleteI wish you really could . . .
ReplyDeleteHi All!
ReplyDeleteRonniegirl: Congrats on first!
Hello ronniegirl, tinka, mo, ebj, mek , iteach, k-girl, jodi, zona, vig, sacbarb, sandie, dianne, shirley, carol, j/l, tina, want, lynnd and anyone I might have missed.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I went away for a couple of days (pics on myspace). My aunt is dying of cancer and we went to see her.
Met my other aunt and uncle at the casino and had some fun, went to my old hometown and took lots of pics
Carol, the blog was quite fitting today because I have had a weekend of memories. I have a picture of a railroad track on myspace. I used to walk that with my friends in the summertime. Very fun. We also used to go to the reservoir and hang out. I love that song, and loved the video too. I do think that Kid Rock picked a model that looked an awful lot like Pamela Anderson. It made me wonder if he still has a thing for her..LOL.
Off to read everyone's comments. :)

ReplyDeleteJust got back from the movies.
ReplyDeleteSo this week we saw Hancock, which was fun and kind of mindless.
We saw Wanted today. It was interesting until the end and then it was very flawed. That kind of drives me crazy!
Hope everyone is having a great day!
TINA: Well, I know I was underwater just shy of long enough...see, I AM SHY!! :P
ReplyDeleteMEK: LOL LOL!!! My back took a beating though!!
DIANNE: Yes you are...;)
HI SANDIE!
HI BEBBI!
LYNND: Congrats on 100!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bebbi!
ReplyDeleteHi Zona! Jeez, I don't think I have half as much fun in my pool . . .
Carol~Welcome home! Thought of you while watching Sunday Morning segment about Richard Ford's Pulitzer Prize winning novel Independence Day (novel about a New Jersey realtor's midlife crises). Good read for a rainy 4th at the shore?
ReplyDeleteShirley~lol @ you...the wedgie puller-outer...who knew?
Dianne_not_supposed_to_look_in_Denver~Well, it was not exactly a wave; more of a salute 8=)~
Busy Sunday~~pooped~~bbl?
Good Evening Owls!
ReplyDeleteI'm behind on reading blogs and comments, because I spent the holiday weekend at my aunt and uncle's condo in Lake of the Ozarks. We had a wonderful time, but it's good to be home. :)
I hope everyone had a fun, relaxing weekend!
I too am looking forward to seeing the Mamma Mia! movie, despite it not being one of my favorite Broadway shows. I love the music!
A new member on the Broadway discussion board asked an excellent question, "It seems like many of you dislike Mamma Mia the musical but can't wait to see the film. Why is that, since they are very similar?"
My favorite reply was, "Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Julie Walters, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper, beautiful Greek locations, gorgeous cinematography, and ABBA.
All the Broadway show has is...ABBA."
That pretty much sums it up for me too. I think this is going to be one of the few movie musicals that's actually better than the stage version. :)
I need to unpack and do some laundry so I'll see you all tomorrow.
Goodnight, Owls!
Ok, I starting writing notes, and then when I went back to read them they did not make sense..
ReplyDeleteSooooo....
It sounds like everyone had a great weekend, and did fun things...
Mo:

Thanks to you as well, for your blog and allowing me to save it.

ReplyDeleteMy parents did ok..It seems my dad had some indigestion last nite, and was up all night, my mom wanted to go to the emergency room as my dad has had some heart troubles, he fought her, and just took some pepto. He said once he took the pepto he was fine.
Today as well, he is feeling ok..
Other than that, All seems to have gone ok..
Thanks for asking!

Mek:
ReplyDeleteWatched my nephews play Wii this weekend, and yes I just watched, as it was much easier that way!
Geez, it looks so hard!
Sandie ~ thanks for the hello.
ReplyDeleteJust Lin: thanks for the welcome back.
Carol: Welcome back to you and glad to hear it was just a Pepto fix, it is so hard to tell with that and it is worrisome when someone has a heart problem. I go through that with my dad as well.
Carol, Barb in Wa and for all those who went someplace and are back..a big ole welcome back from me.
Haven't read that one, Carol. You'll have to let me know if it gets better. I hope it does!!
ReplyDeleteMo:
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying your bbq today! It was today right?
Linda in Squamish:
Welcome to the nest, Glad you stopped by, hope to see you again!
Howdy everyone. I have made it through half of todays comments. I will finish after I post. I am sitting outside on my new patio furniture. I had to replace my slinky bottom chairs before someone got hurt lol! I am loving the birds singing. I am surprised the
ReplyDeleteskeeters" haven't attacked me yet.
Carol~ I love that song, and kinda get off on Kid Rock!!!I'm a sick Grandma lol! I loved when he and Sheryl Crow sang "Picture". I did get sick of it after a while.
When I run Karaoke and here the same songs every night they can get tedious.
Glynis~I'm on pg.250 on "Three Cups of Tea". I bought the paperback in Paris at an Anglo American shop. I got tired of watching "Ghost Whisperer",Who wants to be a millionaire, Little House on the prairie etc., in French LOL!
Back to reading posts....
Thanks for the comfort regarding my aunt. I think the visit really made her happy. We reminisced about old times and laughed even though she had a lot of pain.
ReplyDeleteThis weekend made me realize I don't have a lot of time left with my family. They are getting older and it is so hard to do things and have fun together. The good times come fewer and far between. I am glad I had this weekend though.
My dad loved the horse races. It made me realize it may be the last time we get to enjoy that together too. I love my family so much.
Bebbi:
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think my dad just gets himself crazy. We have a appt with the heart doctor at the end of the month. I will go with him and tell the doctor about the indigestion..
Sandie:
I will keep you posted on the book..
Barbara and Mary welcome back!
ReplyDeleteSandie I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore your coffee comment. My sister called so I was talking to her. I have often thought how nice it would be to sit around, drinking coffee (tea for Tinka) and talking with the owls. I bet we would have as interesting a time as we do here.
Bebbi sorry to hear about your Aunt. Glad you had a good visit. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteSANDIE: Oh...but you could..;)
ReplyDeleteMARY/MI: Had to re-read your post, thought you wrote "..had to replace my STINKY bottom chairs..." LOL!!!
BON'O: Salutes are always welcomed...;)
BEBBI: {{hugs}}
BARB/WA: Glad you had fun...I wonder what I miss with camping, so many people love it so much. I can't get into it at all.
J/LIN: LOL!! Does Custard like to swim?? ;)
HI AMICUS!!
CPGEM: Anytime..SWAK!!
Hi BARBWA and glad you are home..you too AMICUS and BEBBI. BEBBI, sorry about your Aunt. It looks like it was a busy weekend for many owls.
ReplyDeleteBON'O: lol at the salute from MR Z to us. I guess you looked longer than I did!! Good thing ZONA didn't drown under that water.
Yes, I am still working at my desk at tired and hungry. I have been here for a steady six hours. Guess I need to not leave it for so long in the future. I am now ready to stop and go and read the paper and figure out dinner.
Carol: I understand that. I get overly worried with my dad. He is the one that doesn't want to push it or worry too much. Usually it is indigestion. I just had to start realizing he knows his own body. No use in worrying because it is out of my control anyway! :)
ReplyDeleteZona~ LMAO "stinky bottom".
ReplyDeleteGood Lord Tigers won in the 16th inning!
By the way, if any of you ever come to Churchill Downs they are awesome when you bring handicapped people! They came down with a wheelchair, took my dad up to the box and came to get him when he was done and took him back down to the van. It was such fun and even though my dad didn't win anything, he still had an awesome time.

Later Carol..
ReplyDeleteIt is getting dark out here. I can see the fire flies.
I will head inside and finish my book.
Tomorrow is Mr Mary's birthday. I baked him a cake and wrote 'forever 39" on it. He is going to the Casino with his buddies, then we are all meeting for pizza at his favorite bar. Gatta go, here come the 'skeeters!
Carol: I got this new comment sender to try and send them out but it didn't work. I wish I had more time to do more but I never had enough time to do them all. Does anyone have a good comment sender that helps them send them or do you all do them individually?
ReplyDeleteMary:
ReplyDeleteI hope Mr. Mary has a great day at the Casino and wins LOTS OF MONEY! Also, I hope is birthday is awesome. :)
Zona, well . . . Mr. Sandie did just buy a pair of speedos . . .
ReplyDeleteOh Sandie do we get to see pictures of Mr. Sandie in his speedo!?!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back Carol and Amicus and all the long weekend holidayers! You were missed!
ReplyDeleteSure, Shirley!! I'll try to sneak a picture when he's not looking! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteActually, he entered the senior olympics last year for the first time and competed in the swimming event. He came home with two gold medals (he was the only one in his age group) and one silver medal (yep, he was one of two in his age group). He was also the only one wearing swim trunks! So, he just got a pair of the boxer kind of speedos (not the bikini, thank God!) to compete this year.
I think he looks pretty cute . . .
Good evening feathered friends!
ReplyDeleteI came home from out bbq and fell asleep! I woke up at 10 to 10 in a panic that it was 10 to 2!!
CAROL...welcome back! Sounds like you had a wonderful time and you so deserved that.
BEBBI...so sorry to hear about your aunt. Prayers to you and your family. It also sounds like your dad had an incedible time at the races. I hope you can accompany him more often...it'll be good for both of you.
BARBinWA...Welcome back! Your camping trip sounds like the camping I would like...WIFI and movies!
SHIRLEY and MEK...sorry I missed the WEDGEeldon! I agree, Nadal is HOTTTTTT...even if his underwear rides up his ass! Hmmmm, watching him pull it out of his crack makes you two real crackwhores!!!
SANDIE...pictures of MR.SANDIE in a speedo? That is so cool he swims in the senior olympics.
DIANEcleaningthedeskinDENVER...wanna come and clean mine?
ZONA...wow, you have some stamina to stay underwater that long with MR.Z...or is it just an assumption it takes that long?! bwahahahaha
We went walking around the development my cousin's built their house in and looked at open houses today. OMG, a 200,000 condo with the teeniest rooms I ever saw! And a house for like 400,000 and also teeny tiny rooms. ANd the lots are teeny. ANd they keep selling like crazy! I don't get it. Yes, they are pretty, but crap...if I had 200,000 to buy a condo you can damn well believe I want space and amenities. The same for a 400,000 home. My cousins house is gorgeous and a bit more spacious. But get this...they painted the whole house one color because the builder charged an extra $150 as a fee to change colors!!!!!!!!!
Good Evening Owls (said in my best Alfred Hitchcock voice) I hope everyone had a good Sunday.
ReplyDeleteCarol, Barb/WA, Bebbi, Amicus and anyone else who has been gone, welcome home.
Amicus, I echo your sentiment about Mama Mia - not my fav show but love the music. The trailers for the movie look like it will be much more fun than the stage show and for all the reasons you named.
Zona, You are missing the dirt, skeeters, other various bugs and critters and oh, did I mention the dirt??? I gave camping a good try, but I just couldn't get into it either. Too much 'getting stuff ready to go' then all that washing stuff when we got home and still having to get up early to go to work the next day. Then having to make up for the housework I didn't get done on the weekend because we were camping.
Bebbi, I don't know how to send comments except individually. Is there an easier way?
ReplyDeleteMary/MI, Happy Birthday to Mr. Mary. Good luck to him at the casino.
Oh, I just remembered the summer of 89 is when I lost my virginity!
ReplyDeleteWas that TMI?
:)
SANDIE: One thing Mr Z will never wear is a speedo...but please, have fun with Mr S in his!! Wait..should that be out of his?? ;)
ReplyDeleteSACBARB: You forgot one thing...outdoor bathrooms...no, no, no...oh..and NO! I'm positive I'd get bit right in the ass..if not worse. ;)
Why MO...whatever do you mean??? ROFLMAO!!! ;D
Off to get creative! :)
ITEACH: Nope...never TMI in the nest!! ;)
ReplyDeleteITEACH...thanks for sharing! Literally!!!!
ReplyDelete;)
ZONA...you are hilarious!

ReplyDeleteZona, Yes the outdoor bathrooms, or the lack thereof. That was always another problem because my hubby and the boys never could understand why I had a problem with that.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you creating???
Barbwa You should write a blog about camping because you seem to experience it in a different way than some of the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteZona I almost forgot to answer your question. Yes, Custard enjoys swimming and is an expert at the breaststroke. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! You are all a bunch of horny crackwhores!!! Zona is getting some hot action in her pool, JustLin is getting felt up by Custard, and Sandie is hoping for more action in her pool!
ReplyDelete(btw....i was told not to use the word blowjob!....is that one word or two?) :)~
.....the deleted post is me....apparently, in my zest to hit post....I wrote Crotchwhores instead of crackwhores!
Also....I can't wait to see Mama Mia.....I saw the musical on Broadway with much of the original cast, and LOVED it~
thanks everyone for the welcome backs! you're all so sweet.
ReplyDeletejust_lin....some people don't call what we do "camping". some call it "rv'ing". we call it camping! if it involves spending time outdoors and sitting around a campfire swatting at mosquitos, then dang it....IT'S CAMPING!!!
hubby always says we eat better when we camp. this weekend we made pork ribs! yummy!
we really do enjoy spending time in the trailer. i spent so many years washing dishes in cold water and hiking to bathrooms. seriously, my trailer is nicer than hotel rooms!
we just had a good time sitting around the fire roasting peeps and marshmallows for samores, and playing progressive rummy and watching movies.
good times!
i was watching antiques roadshow on opb and got sucked into watching a documentary on wild horses in colorado. the main horse she followed for 5 years of filming was a white horse she named cloud. it was good. very sad when a group was struck by lightning and killed. really good program.
ReplyDeleteBARB...that documentary on horses is on now! Cloud sure is a beauty
ReplyDeletemo.....are you watching the whole program??? it's good.
ReplyDeleteTina Who told you not to use the word blowjob? ;)
ReplyDeleteTina ROFLMFAO @ Crotchwhores!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBARB...I watched from when I found it until the end. They are such beautiful animals. I wonder where Cloud is now. I never realized that horses were so social and family oriented as they are.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone!!
ReplyDeleteI want to play - but the storms are rolling in - we are under flash flood warnings. washes are filling up!!
tina - crotchho's/crackho's - what's the difference!!!
Mo and Barbinwa - what channel was that doc. on?!!

ReplyDeletemek...the show was on public broadcasting.
ReplyDeletemo...i know. i learned a lot watching that. it was so sad and so good at the same time. i just about cried when some of them died. oh and that one scene with the baby horse. i won't tell here what it was but, shocking.
going to bed now. nite nite
ReplyDeleteHurray, Barbwa is back! Sounds like a very relaxing weekend!!
ReplyDeleteMary/Mi~ You are ahead of me in the book (Three Cups of Tea), but I will probably finish it tomorrow. I can't put it down... well, I don't WANT to put the book down. How are you liking it, or not?
Tina~ You reminded me of George Carlin and the 10 words you're not allowed to say. Too funny!
Have a good week everyone!
Tina: We can't use the word blowjob anymore??? How cum????
ReplyDeleteSacBarb LMFAO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm calling it a night, Hooters. See ya all tomorrow. Sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteCrochho's, crackho's & blowjobs? Oh, my........!!!!
