The Beach

by Lynn D

The beach is my happy place. We all have happy place’s , no I am not talking about your anatomy, but those get away spots that call your name and you just know you have to go there to find your balance or to rest and relax or to fill up your soul. For me it is the beach.

I don’t know what it is but when I am there I can walk for miles and not realize it. My eyes just drink the water and sand in. I relax like I can’t anywhere else. It is like the sound and smells and sights all come together and it is the perfect tonic for what ails me.

I can feel the burdens of everyday lift away. My body relaxes and my soul feels like it is getting lighter and lighter. I guess there is something about realizing how small I am compared to that ocean out there and what may lie on the other side. I watch the tide move in and out and hear the sounds like a lullaby at night. It just feels right and I feel like I am one with nature there.

I have never been to a tropical beach so I really don’t know if I would feel the same there. I love our Washington beaches because they can be dark and brooding and moody and wind swept and wild in a storm and then you go on a sunny clear day and it just takes your breath away. Like the most perfect present being presented for those lucky enough to be there at that moment.

When I feel pressured or tired with life, or just at a lost I long for my beach. Someday my dream is to live there everyday and I will achieve it even if it is just a shack to live in I will get there. I feel it in my bones and heart.

Right now I am just grateful when I get to go visit.

Where is your happy place??

  1. Good morning,

Beautiful blog, Lynn. I definitely agree with you about finding the beach a place of solitude and renewal. The sound of the waves, the mist and the sweet smell have always been a part of me. Sometimes I think that if there is such a thing as a past life, I probably came from the sea.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday, with lots of sunshine.

  2. Lynn~ I loved your video and was wondering if you took it. That is really a pretty beach.

Off to have some breakfast and start my day.

  3. Good morning RONNIE! I think you probably were a mermaid in a past life ;)

LYNN...I loved your blog today. I agree, there is something about the ocean. When I lived in L.A, I could go and sit there staring at the water for hours. The gentle waves, the sounds of them lapping against the sand, the birds, the distant laughs of children, the bobbing sails in the distance and the breeze that whipped thru my hair and caressed my face...I WANNA GO BACK...NOW!!

My renewal place used to be Palm Springs. I know...polar opposite of the beach! But for some reason...maybe it was the 2 -3 hour drive on an open highway or the fact of being away, but I always felt calm and relaxed there and returned refreshed. Perhaps it was simply because I would spend all day laying on a lounge chair at the pool getting up only to dive into a cool and sparkling pool. Whatever it was, I miss those long weekends.

Gotta go and return to slumberland.

Hope all owls have a great day today. I'm sure I will land again later on!

  4. Ronnie congrats on 1st!

Lynn D I loved your blog, especially the picture of you on the beach. That is you isn't?

I have written before about my love of the ocean. I have a relaxation CD which is piano and ocean sounds (I'm actually listening to it now) that I love.

I'm sitting here in tears right now and I'm not sure why. BBL

  7. Morning Glories!

Ronnie you got first your early owl you!

No I did not take this video. I went through quite a few on youtube when I decided to write this blog. This is a Washington beach tho and looks alot like the one outside of Ocean Shores called Pacific beach that Mr. Lynn D and I used to take the kids to every summer. Now we mainly head to Westport WA when we want to get away.

Mo: I have heard alot of people say that about Palm Springs. I wonder what is in the air there. Seems many people in Cali go there for a get away.

Shirley Yes that woman is me...Well at least in my head! LOL I saw that picture and thought that is exactly how I feel when I am walking the beach. Now don't be teary, tho I have been known to get that way when I am there because it seems to release all of my inner turmoil.

Birdee!! Good morning to you! I think we need to load a bus and all head to the beach!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Oh hot dog Mo this is another reason I love going to the beach. Mr. Lynn D and I go out for big breakfasts to start our day when we are there! Thank you that is perfect! I am adding pieces of driftwood and some of my seashell and sand dollar collection to the table setting!

  9. Shirley!!!! Sending you huge, HUGE cyber (((((((((HUGS))))))))))) this morning!!!!

Mo, Thank's for breakfast and giving Shirley a break this morning! I'm gonna have some scrambled egg's and a few of those Mimosas!!!!

Hi Lynn, Such a nice blog this morning!

  10. Lynn great blog.

My happy place is the library.

  11. Good Morning Ronnie, first once more, Maureen, Shirley, Birdee, Lynn and Iteach -
Hope you are all well. I just got up (that's a long story) so I will feed my babies and be back to join you for Maureen's breakfast.
    Yea it's Saturday.

  12. Good Morning Hooters!!! Ronnie congrats on 1st.

Lynn, what a great blog. My place is really any place with water. I can sit and watch the water for hours.
Our camper sites on a site overlooking a small lake. I can sit on that 3 season porch in my pj's for hours in the morning drinking coffee and staring into that lake.

Bon Bon- so sorry to hear about the pain you have been experiencing. Big cowlie owlie hugs to you my dear.

Shirley- ;) Wanna throw some water balloons??

Ok, from area 51- Waunafest is a festival in Waunakee, WI. It is billed as the only Waunakee in the world. So, I said to Mr. Goldie, I Wauna go to Waunafest in Waunakee, ok? LOL
It was lots of fun. Today we are going down to Illinois to a luau party, and spending the night, coming back tomorrow and you guessed it- back to Waunafest!!!
No wonder I am tired all the time...

Mo- I'll just take a little fruit, bagel and a few mimosas for later. (The food is for later, I never said I couldn't DRINK first thing in the morning!)
    Have a good day Hooters!!!!!

Hi to Birdee, Iteach and everyone else who comes in.

I am off- see you all tomorrow!

  13. Hi Tink- I was typing while you came in!

  14. Good Morning Tinka!

Iteach being at the beach in a library would be absolute heaven!

Goldie what is it about water that is so soothing?

Oh and a Bloody Mary in the morning sometimes just hits the spot!

You know I did write this blog the other day with feeding our souls in mind Mo! Very perceptive of you!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good Morning Goldie - You are all way ahead of me this morning. I will never catch up on comments. I couldn't sleep at three a.m. and I was down here answering messages. I didn't want to use my lap top because I didn't want to disturb my 'babies'. Now I feel like I was partying all night. I am never going to do that again.

Ronnie - My darling. I am so sorry. I have mixed you up with Dianne so many times and I don't know why. I guess it's because you are both such beautiiful people, inside and out. You were 1st for the first time this morning and Dianne was no longer a First Virgin two days ago. Here I thought it was you and I said, "First again". Could it be my being 39 again that is causing that?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lynn - Thanks for the lovely blog. I love to sit or walk by the ocean too. I have never lived far from the sea. For the first five years it was the Atlantic and I have lived near the Pacific all the rest of the years. I love the air here. I was just reading about the fact that the reason we have so few mosquitos in Victoria is because they don't like the sea air. If you drive 20 miles inland, mosquitos and black flies are such a nuisance.
I love the sea but I never go there and walk alone. I don't know why. I love long walks with my friends, however.

My happy place in summer is my deck. I can sit out there and revitalize after a hectic day shopping or an emotional one with my mom. The sights of
green trees and flowers and the singing birds feed my soul. I live in a very quiet neighbourhood. It is rare that you hear anything but the birds. You can see me revitalizing in a picture I put on myspace.

In winter if I need comfort it is my doll room that provides it. I lay on the little trundle bed in there and just day dream. My dolls contain thousands of memories for me from my childhood, my children's childhood and that of my grandkids. My mind wonders through the years and re-lives all those good times; the Christmas mornings, the birthdays, the holidays. That is my special place.

  17. Good Morning Owls!

Lynn: I agree with you about the beach. There's something magical about the ocean and its calming effect.

Waving HI to the early birds:
Ronnie, Maureen, Shirley, Birdee, Tinka, Goldie!

    From yesterday's comments...

SacBarb: Thanks! Sometimes, I'll buy the cast recording before seeing a show so I'm familiar with the lyrics, but after reading your post, I don't think I'll do that with Sweeney Todd.

Maureen: YAY for Jersey Boys! I saw it three times and each time the show was over, I felt like a kid getting off a roller coaster ride wanting to run and get in line to do it all over again. :) That's one of the reasons why it's continuing to set box office records.

Bebbi: I think The Dark Knight is definitely worth seeing at a movie theater. Some of the cinematography is spectacular, and you might miss out on the full effect of that on DVD.

    Hello to everyone!

I have to get back to work, but I hope the rest of you are enjoying a fun Saturday!

  18. Lynn - Great Blog!!! My happy place is with my family. I feel such joy when they are around and we are just in the back yard having a barbecue and playing on the trampoline, or Christmas and Thanksgiving when we are all around the dinner table. I love my family so much.

ronniegirl: Congrats on first and second!

Hello and good morning to Maureen, Ronniegirl, shirley, birdee, goldie, tink, lynn, and iteach.

I was up so early today that the new blog hadn't been put up yet! Then I went to the airport, drug store, my sisters and the farmers market. I bought the most beautiful sunflower for $2.00! I love it!! Sunflowers = Happiness too!!

I hope that everyone has a wonderful day.

    Hugs!

    Bebbi

  19. Amicus: Good to know, I never thought about that. You are probably right. My son told me about the pencil incident, I don't know if I want to see *that* in full screen though..lol! I am a big baby about scary stuff sometimes. ...and also, Good morning to you too!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Goldie: The Illinois Luau sounds fun too! Seems like you are having a busy and awesome weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good morning sweet owls! Ronnie, congrats on 1st and 2nd!

Lynn D: What a beautiful blog! I adore the Ocean (but have only been twice)! I loved walking along the shore alone. It was very healing, so I can understand what you mean! The waves are so powerful and peaceful at the same time. However, being stuck here in the Midwest, there is not an Ocean close by! : ( Can I come on that bus to the Ocean?!

My happy place (growing up in Dixon) was a boat dock that was only a few blocks away from my house (by the Rock River). I would always go there when I was feeling blue and it always made me feel better. I could sit there for hours, just looking out at the river. It was a place I could let my mind wander (and then was often inspired to write when I came back).

Now, I really don't have a particular "spot" I go. I am happy when I can relax to my favorite music or movies, or a good book. I take myself to many places in my imagination. That is how I have found to "escape" of late.

    Sorry for another long post!

I tried to post more yesterday, but I was Foaded when I tried to publish my very long post yesterday and I was too frustrated to write again!!! (I had the same message as Tink that the Blogger was not available)!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good Morning Amicus and Bebbi - You slipped in while I was making a short flight to myspace. Hope you 'guys' are fine.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Shirley - There is something very melancholy about the sound of the sea. It is very easy to cry when listening to the ocean. I think that is why I never walk there alone or with my 'fur babies' because I feel lonely there. We lived in a high rise apartment that looked over the ocean to Port Angeles. It was when I was expecting my first child and not feeling well. I loved it at first but at night the water would sound so haunting, I couldn't sleep. We moved from there to our new home (about a block from the water) three months before my son was born. We were there 18 years. I loved that home.

  24. Good morning to Ronnie, Mo (thanks for the breakfast), Shirley (HUGS to you), Birdee, Lynn D, Iteach (great to see you back in the nest), Goldie, Tink, Amicus, and Bebbi! (I hope I mentioned everyone)!

Hi to all who fly in when I leave!

Katie and I had a fun day yesterday. We went Geo Caching with some friends! (It's like a treasure hunt, but you use a GPS to find the rough coordinates). It's becoming quite popular. Has anyone tried it yet? I think there is a site (geocaching.com?) and it will tell you the places that are near you.

Then Katie insisted on having me read her FAVORITE book she read this summer, called "Twilight". They are making a movie out of it. I am sure all the Washington State Owls are familiar with it (as it is supposed to take place in Forks, Washington). I never imagined she would be as thrilled at my reading one of her books as she is! I was reading it last night and she couldn't sleep because she was so excited and kept coming in my room asking me what part I am on! I so glad to have made her so happy by doing such a simple thing as reading a book she loves! (She said that she doesn't think her dad would approve that she read that)! I told her that I am ALWAYS happy to share in her "world" and everything and anything!

OK...I did it again! (Sorry)! I'm off to read some more of that book!

    Have a great day everyone!

  25. Nice marching Tink! Shall we go to 30??

    28....

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Jennifer - I didn't see you there. Are you still sore? I bet Bruce was amazed at how you were able to do your own fence. You had some help but you did it. Kudos.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 30!!!! (I guess Tink had to play with the Fur Babies)! : )

    ReplyDelete
  28. Tink you got 30!!!!

Yes...I bet it bothers him that mine looks better too! HA!

    Thanks again for the compliment!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am sorry Jennifer. I didn't know you were marching. I stepped on you. Are you okay? I have First Aid training if you need it. Sorry I cheated you out of #30.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Maureen - I would love some bacon and eggs, toast with jam and tea. You are so sweet. And after you worked two jobs too.
Thanks for including the Slim Fast. My day is not complete until I have that for lunch.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Birdee - Want to go to the beach with me? We can have a picnic and a long talk. That would be great. I will send my private jet.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lynn - Your video looks like our beach when the wind is high. They actually close the road beside the beach when the winds are high because the water comes right up over the road. You always see people walking in it however.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Iteach - I just knew your happy place would be the library. I know how much you love books. It is very calming in there isn't it? It's a good place to go especially if you have little kids at home. When one has little children under foot all day you get used to the happy noises they are making constantly. You need, however, some time just for yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good morning, owls!

Lynn, I agree with you--being at the beach (or really any body of water) makes me feel so calm and peaceful. I'm not a middle of the day kind of beach girl, though, as I burn the minute I hit the sand!! Thanks for the calming blog.

My very best friend who lives in MD(we've been best friends since I was nine and she was seven) is heading to the beach today and begged me to meet her family there for a few days next week. I'm going to try to fit it in!!

I think I agree with Bebbi--my happy place has to be when my whole family gets together. My face hurts from laughing when we're all together.

Bon'O, I'm so sorry about your family member. My prayers are with you and your family.

    Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Jennifer - My son in law and grandkids are so into Geo
caching. That is all they talk about. We are coming up to B.C. day so a lot of silver dollars have been hidden. It's going to be wild out there.
I think my family had more fun with that activity in Hawaii then they did swimming.
    Have you found anything yet?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Good Morning Sandi - I am very happy when my whole family gets together too. It's happiness at its greatest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Amicus and Bebbi - Have fun today. I am off to have some breakfast. See you all later.
    I hope I didn't miss anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am so sluggish today and my poodles are going crazy for some reason. I was thinking "Starbucks" but I swear I didn't say it out loud! (They love when I say that because I often take them with me and they get a treat.) They must be mind-readers. Or maybe I just have that "I NEED COFFEE!" look on my face . . .

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good Saturday morning, owls!

Huz and I love to go to San Gregorio Beach and spend time beside the Pacific (and parade around naked). There is something about the immensity that brings comfort.

But, 'weenie, funny you would say that about Palm Springs, cause Huz feels the same way about it as he does about the beach! He gets a very comforting feeling from the immensity of the desert.

OK, off to play some tennis. Will check back in later!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Bear You parade around naked and there's something about the immensity that brings comfort? Bwahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Good morning Owls.

Ronnie Congrats on first this fine Saturday.

Shirley I think the soothing piano/ocean sounds are helping you to relax and shed the tension. That's probably why the tears are flowing. Sometimes that happens to me when I "let it all go". You've probably been carrying around more tension than you realize. (((HUGS)))

LynnD Thank you for the beautiful blog today. I live close to the beach but never go there. I love waterfalls, rivers and streams. Right now, I love to sit out on my deck and watch the birds. I have alot of large trees around and I feel kind of like I am in a park. At night, when everything is quiet, I can hear the ocean lapping against the shore. That's really nice.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mo I forgot to thank you for breakfast today. How incredibly rude of me! Can I please have some scrambled eggs and bacon (sorry)? Maybe I'll have one of those Bloody Marys, too.

  43. Hey Bachelor/Bachelorette fans! Did ya'll see that Matt and Shayne (aka Monkey) have broken up? She reportedly cheated on him.

    Golly, I'm surprised. NOT!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good afternoon feathered friends!

I was sleeping and got a call from the coffee house...can I come in and waitress tonight. I actually told him NO! This is my first day off after working 12 and I have to work tomorrow, so if I went in today and tomorrow, then work all week it will be 19 in a row. I am too old to do that kinda thing!!

SANDIE...I am in SHOCK! Shayne cheated on Matt???? NO WAY!!! DUH!!
Oh, I have been meaning to congratulate you on your blog nomination! WAY COOL!!

JUST LIN...how rude! :)~ ONly kidding! You are the furthest thing from being a rude person. Help yourself...heck take seconds!

Now I have to try and stop feeling guuilty for saying no to the coffee house ;(

    ReplyDelete
  45. um Mo, it sounds like 19 days of working straight is a GOOD reason NOT TO GO IN!! sheesh! No guilt needed, that is commonsense to me!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. BEBBI...thanks. I also am thinking of all the tips I will make waitressing. Plus, he needs help and I help people. I am a fricking sap lunatic moron...actually thinking of going in. Talk me out of it...PLEASE!

  47. Jeez, Mo, give yourself a break. You're not 29 anymore--I mean, you're not far from that--35, right? ;)

    Thanks about the blog.

  55. HI GUYS!!

LYNND: My "Happy Place" is just laying on the bed with headphones on, listening to Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald. I tend to listen to them the most when I really want to escape whatever is bothering me.

In the summer I like to swim a lot too. This also helps reduce stress. Well, until the yellow jackets appear and I have to run for cover!

I've heard people here in AZ say that going to the desert helps them find their "center". I don't know, I think I'd be too busy looking for snakes and other critters to locate anything else!

I loved going to the beach when I lived in California...especially just before sunset. It was an entire world unto itself totally removed from the real world. I always felt renewed after spending time there.

    GREAT BLOG LYNND!! Thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. RGIRL: Congrats on FIRST beautiful lady!! I think I now understand your MS avatar!!

MO: I hope you decided to stay home and relax! It's not Palm Springs, but you can always come lay by my pool...Mr Z serves drinks!! :)

SHIRLEY: I love those Nature CD's..well except the ones with the loons. I can't seem to relax when loons are calling.

BIRDEE: My offer of a deck chair next to the pool is open...I could throw some sand around and we could pretend...lol!!

ITEACH: I Love the library too. Love the quiet.

GOLDIE: Have fun..as always...I'll make sure the light is burning bright!

TINKA: I have only seen pics of your deck on MS, but it looks like the perfect place to relax! If you were up at 3am..you should have phoned me!!

AMICUS: They are now showing TDK in IMAX...wouldn't that be something to see??

BEBBI: The "pencil incident" in TDK happened so fast, I missed it. I'm a chicken too..and I can assure you, I never took my eyes off the screen. You'll love it. Oh, and I saw your Youtube video..so cute to hear all the laughter and excitement in the background.

JENNIFER: The song "Sittin On The Dock Of the Bay" comes to mind!!

    Gonna split this post....

  59. Did I just hear Mo say she is 34?
I thought you were 32. I agree with everyone, you need a day off.

Tink, I couldn't think of a sweeter person for you to confuse me with than Dianne_the_non_virgin_in Denver.

Love the library too, iteach. Have you ever noticed, other than the obvious, that they all smell the same? So many books, so little time.

Shirley and Zona, I like the nature tapes too, but sorry to say, mine have loons in them. I can almost see them on a lake in the moonlight.

Bebbi, good to see you and all the Owls flying in and out. Glad to hear your daughter made her first 'solo' flight okay.

Have fun Goldie. Good afternoon Birdee, Amicus, just/lin and Sandie

I agree with LynnD, let's get a bus and head for the beach.

ZONA - Waving a wing at you!!! Was great to talk to you quick before opening the store this morning. And can I just say....the idiots just kept coming today...OY VEY!!!

  71. Hi Everyone!

I just got back from the hospital, as we had to admit my father for heart related issues, it has been a long night into a long day! I believe in my heart he will be fine, they will be doing a catherzation (sp) on Monday to see if he has a blockage...

This is real life, these are the issues we should be dealing with...

What I need from you all is to stop fighting, I really, really need it..

I cannot continue with this blog, if the fighting and the hurt continues....

    Glynis:
I am very, very sorry you are not on the nest, I have known you for a long time, and enjoyed each time
you were here at the nest...

    Barbwa:
I am very, very sorry you are not here either, your comments and blogs will always be appreciated..

    iteach:
I miss your posts, I miss your stories of your children...Your wit and your humor

    Mek:
You are my friend.. I miss your marching, I miss our laughter, I miss your comments...

I will not be answering any e-mails or myspace msg's not for any reason, than the time will not allow, I have to get back to the hospital, and then meet up much later tonite with my cousin who is from CA, Meeting him and his daughters will be good for me...

I leave you all with this....

You all must work this out...Life is to short...The nest is here, and I will continue with it, however the circumstances have to change, I just don't have it in me if they don't

What happened is not one's person fault is was a accumulation of all persons getting feelings hurt..

Smiles and Happiness to all of you..♥♥♥

  72. Well, really, I have had those handcuffs around forever they are the kids old ones from their cops and robbers set. You know, the cheap plastic ones with the fake plastic key. I don't think Mo will have any trouble getting them off if she really needs to. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  73. BEBBI...I was going to answer you sooner, but the damn handcuffs made it hard to type!!

HOdi...Hell to the no I will NOT go!!!!

RONNIE...you got first AND sixty nine! You go girl! Awww, 32!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Jennifer, I went back again and looked at your fence. I really am in awe of what you did. Fantastic job.

  76. Saying prayers for your Dad, Carol.
    Take care.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Sheesh..maybe the handcuffs were a bad idea! I forgot about typing!! lol.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Jennifer, I am interested to know did you build a fence? The reason I am asking is that we are looking into fencing our backyard. Someone is coming for an estimate tonight and we had another one last Thursday.

    Great blog!
I love the beach except um when Dolly or any hurricane is in it. I love my tranquil life style. I can drive out of my gated community and go pick up farm fresh brown eggs from my neighbor and look over what vegtables she is selling. In the evenings I can watch the cowboys riding on their horses. I can drive 10 minutes and be at the beach or drive another 10 minutes and be at a 2 story shopping mall. Shopping gives me pleasure also. LOL
    Bebbi
If you don't stop handcuffing poor Mo then I'm going to super glue your butt to the naughty mat.
    Sandie
    Great to see you again!
    Great stories everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thanks Jodi! Have a good nap.

    Good afternoon Dreama!

    ReplyDelete
  86. OMG! Super glued to the naughty mat, that is scary! I will NOT be handcuffing Mo any longer! LOL!

That reminds me of the guy who sued home depot (or it may be Lowes) because he got super glued to the toilet seat when he went to the restroom. True story.

  87. This is PinkaTinka making a fly through. I am busy for the rest of the day. I am having my hair done at two and I am going to dinner and a movie with my friend Dave at five. I will probably not be on again until the morning. Thanks for posting Carol. Things will work out I know. Good Afternoon and hugs to all owls everywhere. See you tomorrow.
    Love, Tinka

BEAR: LOL at your 'parade'!! Do you twirl the batons too?? ;)

J/LIN: Can I come visit?? It sounds beuatiful where you live!

MO: I'm here...was on the phone..which is SO unlike me!! LOL

RGIRL: How about the tapes with frogs?? I think they all remind me of camping {{shudder}} and that's why the sounds of nature's creatures kinda unnerve me. Congrats on 69!!!

JODI: Sorry you were in the middle of THAT!!! I loved talking to you too this morning!!

    LOVEY: SWAK!! :)

    CPGEM: So sorry to hear about your dad. I'll be sending positive thoughts and sending LOTS of prayers. If I knew how to do it...I'd send you HAPPY BLUE!! Can you just pretend this time?? {{{HUGS}}}

  90. Hey gang,

First off Carol I am wishing the best for your Dad and family. You need to worry about that and not about the nest. Take the time to be with your loved ones.

Bon: Thoughts with you today to. So much hurt and worry in our real lives we need to support each at those times.

I see handcuffs and naughty mats out! LOL Bebbi who knew you had a handcuff collection!

Zona: Wish I was hanging out at your pool!

Mo: If you go into work today I will buy a ticket and fly out to you just so I can knock some sense into your head!

Ok have to fly going to a movie!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Have fun Tink!

LOL at liking the handcuffs Mo!

Okay, really I swear that is all I had was one little pair of kids play handcuffs. ;)

I am going to go and try to lie down for a nap for the 3rd time today..can't seem to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Whabby, I still have visions of you running around naked in my head!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Carol, healing hugs and prayers for your Dad. I'm sorry for that stress on top of blog stress. :(

In regards to the rest of your post, I think that "I'm sorry" goes a long way to heal what hurts. So, I'm saying right now "I'm sorry" to anyone whom I may have hurt in the nest, ever. I'm sorry if I ever made a bad choice in my posts. I'm sorry if I ever ignored anyone. And, I'm sending a huge hug to each one of you.

Golly, I have tears in my eyes and I actually feel better.

    Thanks, guys. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  94. SHIRLEY: Congrats on 100, Sunshine!!! :)

MO: I'm eating some of your wonderful breakfast now...I don't care how late I am!! Thank you!

JODI: Hurrying to post, meant to say "Sorry you were in the middle of THAT at work this morning!!!". Bring me back a licorice rope too!! PLEASE!

  96. Something Carol said today reminded me of something, here it is.

    Girl Scout Promise and Law

The Girl Scout Promise and Law are shared by every member of Girl Scouting. The Girl Scout Promise is the way Girl Scouts agree to act every day toward one another and other people, and the Law outlines a way to act towards one another and the world.

    The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God* and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

    The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
    honest and fair,
    friendly and helpful,
    considerate and caring,
    courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
    and to
    respect myself and others,
    respect authority,
    use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

The asterisk on "God" was so you were able to enter whatever your "higher power' is.

I think this would apply to male owls too lol!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Good Afternoon Owls!!!Congrats on first RONNIE and also thanks for the nice compliment!!!TINK it is okay if you confuse us, I do that with people in my everyday life!

BEBBI: If you like sunflowers, go look at myspace page and you will be in heaven!

LYNND: Very nice blog today. I could almost feel the mist from the ocean and I love your dress you were wearing for your picture there. Did you take ballet in your life as your position is so graceful?

I love the ocean too but not much of it around Denver. I also love to go to the mountains, see the wilflowers and little animals and just look around and marvel how beautiful it is amd each season brings it own beauty.

LOVEY: I wanted to compliment you on the blog yesterday. I felt it was a perfect blog to end this week.

CAROL: I hope your dad will come through with flying colors and be okay. Health issues with family certainly put everything into persepective, doesn't it?

BON'O: I am very sorry for the anquish your family is going through right now...hugs to you..big ones!!

SHIRLEY: I am past hormone stage and sometimes I cry and I don't even know why either. I think it is a way GOD just helps up clean out our tear ducts sometimes. Eat all this food..it always tastes better when you don't have to prepare it. I am still watching behind and in trees for you with your water soaker and I can't get wet today.

My daughter and two granddaughters are going to see the play of High School Musical after soccer today. My husband and I went with a couple of friends last night to a little cabret to see a singer doing a tribute to show tunes. It was a very nice change and fun. The only hard part was to keep my husband from bursting into song..until she sang a couple of Wizard of Oz tunes and then he had to control me. Damn...I love singing Over The Rainbow and If I Only Had A Brain!!

    ReplyDelete
  98. JENNIFER: I keep forgetting to mention to you what a great job you did on your fence and just the idea that you can do that yourself! Give yourself a big pat on the back!!

Ok..off to take a shower and get ready for the rest of my day (it is already 3:30).

MEK: Glad you are home safely and I am anxious to see our pictures on myspace...I never let my picture be taken so this was a special deal all for the good of the blog picture book!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. D-inDenver. I think I love Mr Diane in D. Any man who can almost break out in song is hot in my book lol!!
    Beats a dead head anytime1

    Carol, My prayers are with you and your family. {{hugs}}

LynnD~When ever I get stressed out I let my mind roam some place where there is a large palm tree, sand and a deep blue ocean. I swear it calms me right down within a few minutes.

Whabber, please tell me you don't play tennis naked!

    ReplyDelete
  100. DIANNE: You and I love the same Wizard of Oz songs...hmmmmmm.....;)

MARY/MI: I waited for HOURS for you and the Sangria during QVC's Christmas in July!!! Where WERE you?? LOL

I haven't seen the Girl Scout promise forever..though I've never forgotten it.

    ReplyDelete
  101. OK...going swimming..any Owls in the area..c'mon over!!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Carol I'm so very sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts are with you. (((HUGS)))

Zona You can come and visit anytime you want. I like your idea of leading a parade for Bear. I have a baton so I can march and twirl in front of he and Huz. I won't be naked, however, as there is too much of a chance of seriously injuring myself. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  103. Dianne~
I love that your husband can break-out into singing. What joyful souls you two have.

    mary/mi~
I was a Girl Scout leader for nine years and remember The Promise so well. It brings back so many lovely memories. All theses years later, I still get a phone call every now and then from one of my girls. Each year I had the same girls and not too long ago we had a 20 year reunion. It seemed so strange seeing my "little girls" all grown-up.

bbl...going to go look at MEK and Dianne's Colorado pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Carol: Let me also add my hugs to you!!! I will be keeping you and your father in my thoughts and prayers!

Tink: We did find our first "treasure" but it was lame. However, half the fun is just looking for it!

Zona: I do like that song! LOL! (Actually it was more of "sitting on the dock of a river..." nah...too many syllables)!

Ronnie: Thanks again for another look at the fence.

Bebbi: If I had the money to hire it out I would have! So if you can afford to, let someone "go for it"!
My cousin Jack helped me to put the posts in (4 feet down...each) and the rails (that go from side to side). I screwed in 95% of the individual boards myself! (And using a level to make sure they didn't lean to the side but were going straight up and down)!

Hi to all who came in! (Sorry...I don't have time to name everyone...but know I am waving at you all!)! Katie and I are going to see "Journey to the Center of the Earth" tonight! I hope it is done well!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Dianne: Thanks for your nice compliment too! : )

    ReplyDelete
  106. Hey Zona, I think I might just drop by for a swim with you, after I check-out the pictures. Just made HOmade ice cream and I'll bring you some.

See you in a bit. lol
    Love ya!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I thought the Colorado pictures were posted, my mistake.

I'm kind of like those people who camp-out overnight at Best Buy, so they can be first in line the next morning for an Ipod.

    ReplyDelete
  108. All this girl scout talk is making me hungry for cookies. Does anyone have any left in the freezer?

  111. Happy Saturday!

Carol I send best wishes for your dad!

I didn't realize there was still "stuff" going on here, I have not been keeping up I guess.

Everyone needs to come back! In the word of the Munchniks:

Come out, come out, wherever you are, and meet the young lady,
    who fell from a star.

Sandy and MO, I was SHOCKED (not) to read that Shayne aka Monkey (HAHA!) cheated on Matt the Bachelor!

Weren't they just on tv the week before last saying how in love they are and the engagement is still on?

We are enjoying this season of Big Brother so far!

Lynn this was a really great blog! I love the beach too, my favorite place in the world has to be the Mendocino coast. It's so gorgeous, and lots to do and see.

Congrats to Miss Ronnie for being 1st today!

I've been showing the rental house to some prospective tenants today. We are hoping to have it rented by the 1st.

Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Sorry about my typos. It should be SANDIE and MUNCHKINS.

I started typing this post an hour ago, then a friend called and we gabbed for 45 minutes.

I saw that Dianne mentioned Wizard of Oz and I mentioned muchkins. We must be on the same cosmic though process or something (LOL!!)

    ReplyDelete
  113. hey y'all!! I hope everyone's doing well...I'm not doing the greatest, but I'm alive and here! haha

Wonderful blog Lynn!! I love the beach too, but haven't been in so long!

Carol, very well said..I'm sorry about your Dad..Will keep him in my thoughts and prayers!! :)

Mary, does that mean Whabbear and I get to become honorary girl scouts?! LOL

Do we get to wear the uniform?ROFLMAO

    ReplyDelete
  114. lol, Joey, I'm visioning you right now in your girl scout outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  115. EBJ: I love the munchkins thing. How cute! :)I hope that everyone comes back too.

Also, I love Big Brother, although, I swore off of it the last time I am right back watching again..no will power WHATSOEVER! ;)

mary/mi: I love the Girl Scout Promise. I think that applies here very well.

I think it is really exciting how a lot of people are meeting each other. Also, it is neat how you talk on the phone too. I saw K-girl's pics of Tina & Family! They were awesome. Also, how Tina was talking on the phone to Jodi. Sounds like a lot of fun. Glynis and Barb's pics are awesome too. :) You can tell they had a great time!! I like Dianne & Whabby too..thought it was funny how someone said "hooked up"...that means a whole different thing to the teenage/20 something's generation...lol. :) I don't know who made the comment but will go back and look. I hope that someday I can meet some of you too.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Oh gosh, Hi Joey! and how can you forget Joey, who has met so many people and is even almost BFF's with Rosie!! :) He gets on her "Ask Ro" more than anyone I know and has met her TWICE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Joey looks so cute in his girl scout uniform. LOLOLOLOL>..that is so funny! What a vision!

  118. LynnD~~As mentioned by MS mail this a.m. before running off to 'Relay for Life', THANK YOU for that much-needed trip to the beach this morning. I'm an hour from the ocean and wish I were close enough to walk the beach before breakfast or at sunset daily. I love the Oregon coast, but think I'd feel most at home on the coast of Maine...some weird past life connection I can't explain.

My 'Happy Place' is walking on a soft path of pine needles bordered by huge ferns in a sun-dappled forest along a babbling stream in the mossy mist of a waterfall. (That's how I found Zona so quickly last weekend when she went missing from the picnic!)

Just got in, hope to be back in a bit for some shout-outs to all you Saturday nesters. Til then, hugs all around, and special thoughts to Carol and family.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi Everyone!

I sure am posting late today, so many of you Owls have been on since early tihs morning! So please accept this collective Waving of the Wings to ALL of you!

LYNN~ I loved your Blog today. I too will go with the majority of the Owls and say the beach/ocean is my "Place of Refuge". Although, I am not so good at walking in the sand or over rocks as I used to be! I think that is why I love to take cruises. I can just sit on my balconey, sip a nice cool drink and watch the water, the waves etc.

I also, much like TINKA and JUST_LIN, enjoy my own backyard and deck. It just feels safe and peaceful.

SHIRLEY~ tears can be VERY good for the soul! Just like a refreshing rain in the Spring, they can clear out all the bad/sad feelings and give you a new perspective!

MO~ You better NOT have chosen to work today, Missy! 19 straight days "ON" is just TOO much, even for you, my little Energizer Bunny! You must stop, relax and recharge!

SANDIE~ GO TO THE BEACH and visit with your BFF! There is nothing as wonderful as having a friend for so many years, and being able to get together and just BE! Enjoy yourself, life is too short to not do what gives us pleasure.

GOLDIE~ aren't you enjoying this weekend at the lake with your grandbabies? How wonderful!

JENNIFER~ It sounds like you and Katie had a fantastic mom/daughter day yesterday. Cherish them, our "babies" grow up so fast!

CAROL~ So very sorry to hear about your father. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers to you and your family. After this week's drama, this is the last thing you need to be worrying about. Enjoy your visit with your cousin, and try to clear your mind of all the negative stuff, and PLEASE come back to us when you are ready. We all care and love and appreciate everything you do for the Nest. (((HUGS)))

Miss Laurie and I are getting ready for the big Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana Concert on ABC tonight, complete with 3D glasses! Pray for me, please, to make it through!!! Now if it were JBJ I could see 3D that would be a whole other issue!!!

Please enjoy what is left of your Saturday evening, and make it a Great Sunday!!

    Peace and Love, Donna Jean

  120. I did it...I didn't go to work! YIPPEEEEEEE! Although, I had gone that means LYNN would have come over!!

JOEY...you make a lovely Girl Scout!!

TINA and KGIRL...your pictures are spectacular.

BONO...hoping you are having a good Saturday.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Mary/Mi
Did you dress Wabbear & Joey in girl scout uniforms? Hmmm...I bet they both look very pretty.
    Sandie
waving up at ya and offering you some of my European chocolates. My friend sends them to me from Norway. I send her Reeses peanut butter cups that she can't get over there. It's a very good trade off. Anyone else who wants chocolates...Shirley attention!! help yourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  122. ok....showed up for what I thought was my assigned shift at the concession stand @ 4pm, and was told I was actually to work from 6-8pm tonight and again from 4-6 tomorrow. Crap!!! Was hoping to get all my time in tonight.

I hope all my HO's are having a great night.

MO - Yeah!!! I'm glad I didn't have to come down and give you a tongue lashing little missy!!! Enjoy the rest of your day off. :D

BEBBI - Yes, I must admit.....I do enjoy chatting with a lot of my friends!!!

It has been a long day, so I'll just say good night. I'll catch all my late night HO's when I get up for work. :D

    ReplyDelete
  123. Cool CHOCOLATE!! Thanks dreama!

Jodi: That's really neat! I haven't talked to anyone on the phone yet. Would love to though. Not sure anyone wants to talk to me..lol. :)

Got another silly thing to ask, Are Tink and Zona really mom and daughter? Or just pretend? I haven't been able to figure that out yet. One of the many sad situations of only being able to come in sporadically. Is anyone else related in real life?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Jodi: That is a bummer about the showing up at the wrong time. I hate when that stuff happens. :( Did you get your nap in before you went?

    ReplyDelete
  125. HIGH 5 to MO! I am so glad to hear you didn't do go in. WTG! I don't think I would be capable of working 19 days in a row. I used to work two jobs and do that on occasion but it has been years and years since I did that. It is very exhausting.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Bebbi, no Tinka and Zona are not really mother and daughter. Just very good friends that have a mother/daughter like relationship.

The only people who are related that I know of is IBB and Mek. The are sisters.

    ((((HUGS)))) for Bonnie and Carol.

Hi Joey, EBJ and Donna Jean (thanks).

Dreama I never turn chocolate down! Lol! Got any extra peanut butter cups? They are my favorite. Or chocolate covered cherries. mmmmmmmmm!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Thanks Shirley! I didn't think they really were but some of the comments made me wonder occasionally. :)

Tink: How are you doing learning your Mac Book?? I know you won't get this until tomorrow but I was scrolling back through old blogs and saw you said to me that you always used Mac and just got the Mac Book. :) When you said you were trying to learn it, I assumed you trying to switch from PC to Mac. My mistake. I hope that the Mac Book is working out well. Is it that really really thin one that they advertise with the cool song?

    ReplyDelete
  128. Man, I want to go to DQ really bad and get a blizzard!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Or maybe a hot fudge sundae with extra whip cream...mmmmMMmmMmmMmMMMMmm

    ReplyDelete
  130. Bebbi have you tried the new brownie batter blizzard? I'm not sure just what it is called. Looks good on TV. The nearest DQ is an hour away for me and I don't have a car. Well I don't have money for a blizzard either.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Shirley, we have peanut butter cup ice cream in the freezer. I think it's made by Dreyers. It's soo good.

I'm sharing it with everyone, there's plenty!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hey Mek are you going to stop by and tell us about your trip? I can't wait to see pictures.

    Missing you too IBB.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I really want DQ but I am not going to do it. I don't have the money for it either and I don't need it!

    ReplyDelete
  134. I will have a taste of the Peanut butter ice cream though! No calories I hope, right?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Shirley: In this area they have been advertising the Girl Scout Thin Mint Blizzard! Made with thin mints, I thought that was a neat idea especially when it is hard to get those right now. I had one and it is good.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Hi EBJ! Good to see you!

Joey: (((HUGS)))! You sound like you could use them! LMAO @ picturing you and Whabby in Girl scout uniforms! (However, from Whabby's earlier post...I imagine him just wearing the green sash)! LOL!!!

Donna Jean: I hope you and Laurie have fun watching Hannah Montana! Katie and I just got back from seeing Journey to the Center of the Earth! (It was in 3D too)! LOL!!

Bon: I love your poetic description of your special place. (No wonder Zona could be found there!)!! LOL!!

Jodi: I feel for you! I did "my time" when I worked at our pool concession stand every summer when I was in High School! ICK! I take it is for baseball? Don't ya just love "volunteering" for that stuff?! ; )

I think I am going to turn in early tonight. Watching 3D movies makes me nauseated sometimes! (But it could have been the big bag of popcorn with butter dripping off it too)! LOL!!!

    NIGHT ALL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Good night Jennifer!

    Hi Iteach!

Bebbi I actually don't know when I had a blizzard last or when I will have one again so I guess I just have to settle for EBJ's ice cream.

  162. Thanks, Shirley...steer me to the coconut ice cream!

Carol~~So good to see you here and see that things went well today. And thanks for your thoughts sent this way.

For those who don't know the story (I'll keep it brief), my dear, funny sis-in-law (I consider her a sister/friend) is still breathing last I heard, but is in hospital in Tulsa with heart failure. Although she's much too young, she's had a weak heart for a while and the prognosis is not good, i.e. hospice care if she gets out.

I can't possibly thank you all enough for the well-wishes, so let's move on and treasure life!

Now, about that ice-cream...I need something soothing after the visual of a certain bear running down the beach in nothing but a Girl Scout sash!! "comforting feeling from the immensity" made my day!

    ReplyDelete
  163. CAROL...Bebbi generously shared her handcuffs with me earlier! ANd my ass needs thinning, so can ya have a side of bacon...or two...or 5!!

    ReplyDelete
  164. Now you're going to make me cry. Thanks Carol. This place and these people have stopped me from ending my life. I have never said that before but it is true. This place is what I held on to. Thank you for providing it.

Now let's have some more ice cream!

    ReplyDelete
  165. BONO...while it is a sad thought to consider...your sis-in-law needing hospice care, rest assured that there are no kinder people in the world then hospice workers. She will be in good hands and get the best possible care and empathy available to mankind. {{{hugs}}} to you.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Maureen I could make grilled bacon and cheese sandwiches for brunch tomorrow. Would that help?

    ReplyDelete
  167. SHIRLEY...hold on to all of us...all the time. We will hold you in return.

    Now start scooping!!

    {{{hugs}}}

  168. SHIRLEY...grilled bacon and cheese sammies with a side of ham and pork chops will help a lot!
