This Night Owl Blog has given so much! It is a fun place, we don't bash and we have fun being "tedious"! We offer advice, give love, lots of free food and an open forum which can be about anything that is important, thought provoking or just plain silly. And sometimes we just March (some to different drummers, but all together). :) It is not about a single person, it is about all the people on any given day blended together.....Goldie!

What is a Owl?
by ♥Lovey♥
I found this lil nest in the cyber world when I was weak, wounded and lost. There weren't many Owls, but we were all feeling the same emotions.
At first, it was a place I could go where I wouldn't feel so lost.
I knew healing could begin, but I wondered, is it possible to build a family with all our hurt and negative all in one place.
We needed the positive to wipe out the negative.
We gathered, we voiced our hurt, we huddled and cuddled and wrapped our wings around each other and found the sunshine.
Sunshine always wipes out the darkness.
The building began.
Laughter painted the walls, personalities decorated the landscape.
The buffet tables set filled with everyone's favorite foods.
We Owls marched, we chatted, we laughed, we cried, we cared for each other and before we knew it, the family was built.
One thing that is very important to the Owls is respect.
Why?
Because our wounds were from "lack of respect".
We are Owls, but we are human beings too.
We are not just a computer monitor, we are not just a bunch of words on a screen.
WE are PEOPLE.
We bleed, we hurt, we have feelings and we are not INSIGNIFICANT particles of dust that can be fluffed away with one little blow.
We are mixed Owls, with different opinions, different likes and dislikes, but one thing that is constant and through us all,is we are not combative.
We read the thoughts of others, share ours, and sometimes say good night leaving with a plate of food for thought.
We are not debaters trying to build points on opinions or fighting for causes.
We are a family of Owls building friendships filled with LOVE.
We protect our family, we wrap our wings around each other in comfort.
This is our nest.
We have welcomed all to enjoy the peace, the love ,the laughter, and the friendship that built this nest.
We have opened our arms to anyone that would like to be an Owl.
I am very proud to be an OWL.
I'm honored to be called LoveyHO.
I love my family and our nest.

ReplyDeleteLovey: Lovely blog!
Hi Scirish and Tinka!
From yesterday's comments...
Tinka: Thank you for the nice comment about animal questions!
SacBarb: I haven't seen either of those shows, but Sweeney Todd is one of our off-series shows next season. Was it good?
Outatuune: Nice to see you in the Nest!
Jennifer: Wow, you did a great job on your fence! You go, girl! :)
Zona: I thought it was a good movie but too long. It felt like it ended twice. Heath Ledger was fantastic though! An immense talent gone too soon. :( Glad you're feeling better!
DonnaJean: I have no doubt Laurie will love having a pup. Good for you for taking the time to find the perfect addition to your family!
Dreama: Glad there was no major damage from Dolly. Sending a prayer for David's mom.
Hello to everyone!

ReplyDelete25!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMorning Glories!
ReplyDeleteScrishy got first! Good Morning to you!!!
Lovey thank you for a wonderful blog! It says everything!
Goldie I just spent the morning watching the last lecture from Randy Pausch. I am so sad to hear he finally lost his fight.
Three thing I took away from his lecture:
1. Have fun! Everything you do should have some element of fun in it.
2. If you are not receiving feedback from the people around you, it is not them it is you.
3. There is good in everyone. Even if they make you mad they have a good side somewhere, it just may take you awhile to see it or for them to show it!
Ooops I think there is a fourth.
Like Randy I believe in Karma. Do what you think is right and karma and dream fufillment will follow.
I am here today because this is a fun and loving place for me and I will stay here because of it!
Waving a wing at all of you!
Gotta love those mini marches when you don't get trampled!
ReplyDeleteme too lynn, me too.
ReplyDeleteOne more lesson for me today, Do not sweat the spelling. LOL Should use spell check. LMAO
ReplyDeleteGood morning owls!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog Lovey ~ WOW!!!
I missed a couple of days here and I have to go back to see if Donn Jean got a puppy, because of what Amicus said. If yes, I am so happy for you DJ!!!
DonnaJean, I believe you did not get a puppy yet. I just read your comments from yesterday, but good luck finding one!
ReplyDeleteDreama,. sorry to hear about David's mom and the damage to your house. Hope all turns out well.
Lovey,great blog!
ReplyDeleteScirish, congrats on the double entry!
I too am saddened by the loss of the wonderful Man. He will be leaving a very special legacy. I hope when my time comes, that my life's actions will reflect well on me. I am far from perfect, but hope I bring joy & happiness to those around me.
Tinka & Jodi~I love that you are spending time with you loved ones. I wish my GrMa & Mom were around. I would be there now.Give them both extra {{hugs}} from me.
I am off to visit with my bestest girlfriend. She is having a garage sale. Hope I don't bring anything back with me lol!!
Congrats on 1st scirish!
ReplyDeleteExceptional blog Lovey!
If you haven't seen and heard Randy Pausch's Last Lecture, do a search for it on YouTube. It's wonderful.
Happy Friday Owls!
Some quick notes before I fly off to do errands.
ReplyDeleteDreama: Happy to hear you survived Dolly. I am really sorry to hear about David's Mom tho.
Jodi: I tried to get a donut but some one hogged them all! I am not naming names but I think it might have been a little piggy! hmmm Have fun with your grandma today!
Tinka you have a wonderful visit with your Mom also!
Hi GM and Mary and Donna hart!
Waving again must go mail the bill payments!
BBL
Happy Friday Owls.
ReplyDeleteLovey, I loved your blog today. You expressed my sentiments exactly. I love this place that Carol created for us and I hope my sarcastic sense of humor has not disrespected anyone. It was never my intent.
Scirish, congrats on being the early bird.
Amicus: Sweeney Todd was an excellent production. It's not my favorite music because they sing the dialogue, and the story is dark, but they inject humor into it. I enjoyed it, overall.
Goldie: It is sad about Randy Pausch. He did leave the world a wonderful legacy.
Jodi: My thoughts are with you and your grandma.
Lynn: I believe in Karma, too. You get what you give...eventually!
Mary/MI: I don't know about anyone else around you, but your comments make me laugh, and that gives me joy and happiness.
MEK: Safe travels today. Can't wait to see you back in the nest.
Zona: Don't forget to use that SPF 500 before you go in the pool.
Waving a wing to Mo (from really early this morning), Tinka, Shirley, Jennifer, Grandma Moses, Donna Jo, and all who land after me.
Carol, I hope you are getting some much needed rest. Thank you for giving us this place to gather. Love you for all you do.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You owe me a cheesecake reipe. LOL
Mo, who did you meet last night? Was it one of the Owls???
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon Everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd TGIF!!!
LOVEY~ What a beautifuly written blog, and true in so many ways! You put into words what I think we all have been feeling this week. What a wonderful blog to end the "work week" and start the "fantastic weekend"! Thank you, my friend.
Trusty #2 is here, sharp and waiting!
SCIRISH~ Congrats on #1!
AMICUS-Thank you for encouraging me to take the time to find the right doggie to join our family! I was worried some might think I wanted only some cutesy "designer" dog! No, we just need to find the right one to fit in, because she (I am thinking female) will be with us for the rest of her life!
GRANDMAMOSES~ I am registered with 1-800- Save-A-Pet, and they did have two possible matches for us, but I need to wait until after Laurie's surgery. I am hoping that as soon as that is over with, a few more matches will come up. I said I would be willing to go up to 200 miles from my area. Thanks for asking.
TINKA~ enjoy your visit with your Mother. I love how you still call her Mommy! Once in a while my older girls will call me that, and I love it!
JODI~ I hope you also have a wonderful afternoon with your Grandma! How fortunate you are to still have her!
LYNN D~ I enjoyed your post. I will go back and watch "The Last Lecture" online. Sounds fascinating.
And, waving a wing at all of you who have posted before me today!
GOLDIE
SHIRLEY
JENNIFER
MARY/MI
DONNA JO
SACBARB
And also to those of you who land after me!
I know it's too early for a nap, but I just didn't sleep well last night at all. I tried to go to bed early, that may have been my mistake! Tossed and turned all night, and woke up twice with horrible leg cramps! I must remember to take my magnesium pill today, and I also keep forgetting my calcium.
Anyone else get those horrible leg cramps/spasms? Mine hurt so much, it is hard to get out of bed and walk around to straighten out my legs. And of course, it seems to always happen in the middle of the night when you are trying to rest. If any of you do, what helps you?
Everyone enjoy their day,
Peace and Love, DJean
Donna Jean I found these homemade remedies for leg cramps/spasms. Don't know if they work but they might be worth a try.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most common causes of leg cramps is a lack of potassium in your system. To add this beneficial electrolyte to your body, you can take a supplement. Or you can add plenty of potassium-rich bananas, apricots, tomatoes and raisins to your daily diet. Another bonus to getting more potassium in your system, is that it's also good for your heart as well!
Another homemade remedy for leg cramps is to drink a cocktail every day. Not just any cocktail will work, though, it has to be an Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail. The taste may turn you off at first, but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. Mix up two teaspoons of vinegar in a small glass of water. Stir in a teaspoon of honey and drink it down. The Apple Cider Vinegar is chock-full of potassium and beneficial vitamins and minerals to help ease your leg pains. (Be sure that you drink plenty of water every day too, to keep your body properly hydrated.)
If you'd rather not drink it, you can rub your leg muscles with undiluted Apple Cider Vinegar instead.
Leg cramps can happen anytime, but the muscle pains that awaken you at night can be the most annoying. Taking a hot shower before you turn in can help loosen tight muscles. However, taking a hot bath and actually soaking your legs is a more effective homemade remedy. After you've soaked your legs for several minutes, gently massage your legs with your fingers to further relax the muscles and increase blood circulation.
Good afternoon Jodi (I hope you have a good visist with Grandma), Jennifer, Lynn D, Grandma Moses, Mary, Hartldo and Sacbarb.
ReplyDeleteTinka I hope you and your fur babies have a good visit with your mom.
I hope everyone is having a good day and has a great weekend,
((((HUGS)))) Carol.
Sorry about your leg cramps, DonnaJean. My husband gets them, so I appreciate your advice, Shirley.
ReplyDeleteShirley! I got all excited when I read that you could drink a cocktail for leg cramps! Alas, It wasn't the kinda of cocktail I was hoping for! I have tried to drink the Apple Cider Vinegar and just could not get it down. It is supposed to be good for weight loss and Arthritis too. I found some chewable tablets at a health food store and they are excellent!! They taste kinda like sweet tarts! Now if I could just remember to take them.....
ReplyDeleteHartldo you are welcome.
ReplyDeleteScirish it would not br my choice for a cocktail either.
My Father swears by the "bar of Ivory Soap under the bottom sheet" method for leg cramps...No idea why that would work, but I have heard people rave about it.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I feel like having a glass of wine???
Donna Jean....I almost forgot! Some people tend to get leg cramps if they drink too much caffeine.
ReplyDeleteDreama...Hope David's Mom is doing better!
DonnaJean,
ReplyDeleteI had horrible leg cramps with all my pregancies. Are you trying to tell us something? :)
Thank you SHIRLEY for the information!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say I do have a cocktail every day, but then I read your "recipe" and I knew I wasn't drinking the right stuff!
I do take a Potassium supplement every day due to my High Blood Pressure and the meds I am on require extra Potassium. I had read that too, and so I think I may be getting an adequate dose.
I also looked up leg cramps a few months back and it mentioned Magnesium may be lacking, but you need to take certain kinds, like Magnesium citrate, and I had run out and had not had any for about a week, so it was probably that. I made sure to buy some more yesterday, hopefully they will kick in for tonight.
It was so sweet of you to look up that information for us!
SCIRISH~ I am going to look for the chewable Apple Cider Vinegar tablets. Although, I like vinegar so I may just be able to drink the little cocktail Shirley described!
DONNA JO~ So sorry your husband gets them too. I am sure you don't get much sleep either when they occur!
See you all later, DJean
Oh yes! We keep a bar of ZEST soap under the fitted sheet. Mr. Hart says it hasn't ever helped his leg cramps but it has helped cramps he gets in his feet. There is an ingredient in certain types of soap that make that work. Not all soaps do it.
ReplyDelete49
ReplyDelete50
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean: You're right, I DON'T get very much sleep when Mr. Hart has legs cramps. He also talks in his sleeps, kicks sometimes and snores. It's always an adventure in my bed! And I don't always mean in a good way. ;)
ReplyDeleteHA! I snuck right in there
ReplyDeleteHart...Well, at least now I know my Dad isn't crazy...about that anyway :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.snopes.com/oldwives/legcramp.asp
ReplyDelete^^^^^
ReplyDeleteThat was supposed to be a link to a Snopes article about using soap for leg cramps. If it doesn't work, just go to Snopes.com and do a search.
Congrats on first, Scirish!
ReplyDeleteLovey blog, Lovey! (That's no typo--I meant it was full of love.)
sacbarb, I'm betting you're being too hard on yourself about the cards!
Shirley, so happy to see your smiling face today.
Scirish and Donna, soap under the sheets?? If I put shampoo under my pillow will I be all ready to go when I get up??
I've been running since this morning! Hello to everyone and I hope you are all having a great Friday.
LOL @ Sandie! Wouldn't that be great if that would work? That's the part I hate about going anywhere....the getting ready.
ReplyDeleteLOL Sandie.....and the sheets would stay clean too!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere did everyone go? It's Happy Hour!!
ReplyDelete60...just because!
ReplyDeleteIteach: I saw your MS banner and I will pray that one of your Hubby's interviews results in a job. I hope you are having fun with your kids before you have to go back to school.
ReplyDeleteScirish: Are you serving the drinks for happy hour? I'll take a giant Margarita
ReplyDeleteHey Happy Hour!
ReplyDeleteIt IS 5:00 somewhere, right!
Hello Hooters!
ReplyDeleteThe family T should just be taking off. Went around the island yesterday, starting with breakfast @ Boots & Kimos....(mac nut pancakes w/creme brulee vanilla sauce...ask Tina how yummy those we're) then on to Waimea Bay for some snorkeling, swimming and cliff diving, and yes I did it too with the boys!
Off to Haleiwa for early dinner, then to my house for Motorcycle rides!!!! Yes Tina went for a ride as did the twins (one at a time).
They just stopped by my office so I could Lei them one more time, and I just posted a pic on my page.
Hope all the Hooters are well, and am hoping that you all enjoy a great weekend~
Good afternoon or evening Owls!
ReplyDeleteI am home long enough to comb my hair, pee and post! Then I have to run out the door once again!
Iteach did you just ask if DonnaJean might be pregnant? LOL
Leg cramps got no solutions tho I have heard the cider vinegar cocktail is good for acid reflux too! I just can't choke the stuff down.
Kgirl: Sounds like Tina and her family had a great time! That was great how they got to spend so much time with you as a tour guide! It also sounds like Tina got lei'd alot! LMAO
Hope everyone is having a wonderful afternoon! Will try to catch up with you all later taters!
Sorry about all of the exclamation points!!! I should have pee'd before I posted!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon to my Owl family,
ReplyDeleteLovey~ I think you very beautifully spoke the warm words that each of us hold dear in our hearts. How dare anyone ever try to destroy our home. When a family unites together, there's nothing that can make it crumble. Different in feathers, but still a family....
Occasionally, we receive a new family member seeking a place to rest their head and to hear stories and laughter, and maybe to just seek a moment to repair a broken wing or heart. We are supportive of each other, sometimes by just giving them a hug and a hot meal, then sending them on their way to other adventures. We are the light in the window on a dark night that is meant for all Owls.
Occasionally, birds with other values see our light and think this is just another 'joint' in the night, like the ones they frequent where ugliness can abound....it is not, it's our home.
These birds soon realize this nest is not for them and leave, only to squak unpleasantness in another place called 'Myspace'.
I say, let them move on, as this is a home for adult Owls with love and understanding in our hearts.
My Mother taught me long ago that two wrongs don't make a right, so I refrain from using cryptic messages as a banner. (and I have some good ones, too) lol.
Waving my feathered wing, that didn't get a manicure today, to all my Owl Family.
It's time to stop worrying, I think the Buggie-man is gone.
((hugs)) all around...
Ronnie
Hope to bbl
I bet Lynn is running with her knees tight together and on her tip-toes..lol

ReplyDeleteI am home but I am exhausted. I think I will have a nap. Mom and I did watch Randy Pausch ("The Last Lecture") on UTube. Thanks for the 'heads up' on that one Donna Jo. We both enjoyed it and it will be a bitter/sweet memory for me. He was a wonderful man.
ReplyDeleteMom has already forgotten I was there. God love her. She does know me when I am with her, however. If she loses that ability then I will have lost her. Right now we can still talk about my sister and me when we were little. I love hearing those stories over and over again. I never tire of them. I also never remind her that her oldest daughter is gone because I think she is there keeping an eye on my mom. Sorry, I am getting too sentimental here. It's time for a nap.
I loved your post Ronnie. It amazes me how many good writers all landed in this one nest. We are such a special group.
Iteach - Nice to see you posting. I missed you.
Waving hello to ALL OWLS.
Have a good evening.
I am getting the comment that the blogger is not available now. Perhaps this will post later or maybe not.
Hey K-girl. Sounds like you and the T family had a great time. I can personally vouch for your hosting abilities.
ReplyDeleteRonnie: I agree with everything you said in your eloquent comment. Thanks for putting into words what I have been feeling.
Hi Everybody! It is finally the weekend..yippee!! I hope everyone had a great week.
ReplyDeleteScirish: Congrats on first!
Lovey: Great Blog. I love this place because most everyone does treat each other with respect. And, no one judges if you can't be here every day, I always feel welcome by most everyone. Even if I am in "out of the loop", most everyone treats me like I am a regular. I love that. :)
Thanks for putting things in such a great way!
Amicus, About Dark Knight: I think that Rosie said that she thought it was really long too. Did you like the movie though? I am not 100% sure if I want to go and see it while it is at the movies, it might be something I wait for the dvd.
I hope that everyone is having a great Friday.
Take care and I will be back tomorrow some too. The family is all taking off to different places so I will have the house to myself..woo hoo!
Bebbi
tink: I cried at work today when I heard that Randy Pausch had passed away. He really touched me when I saw the lecture. It is a beautiful piece of work, I feel sad for his kids but he did everything he could to make things okay for them. What a wonderful teacher, father, husband..etc.!! May he Rest In Peace.
ReplyDeleteMary/Mi: Did you bring anything back from the yard sale? That made me laugh, I do that too. :)
ReplyDeleteHowdy Owls!!

I am watching Dateline. It is about children being sold for sex in Cambodia. Breaks my heart! They are so young!
ReplyDeleteMEK & Tina almost home! Yay!!
Mr Mary has "restless body" syndrome.
He jerks most of the night. Once in a while he kicks hard. He is 6ft and has kicked my bad knee! I now sleep with body pillow between us. H doesn't remember any of it. I blame it on the Miller-Lite lol!
bebbi, I almost made it out of her garage until I noticed a bamboo type lounging mat. It was only .50. She laughed and gave it to me!
ReplyDeleteiteach~ I have everything crossed for Mr Iteach!
Lynn~ did you make it? lol
Mary: My husband kicks like that too, and never remembers doing it. Swears he doesn't even do it.
ReplyDeleteHartldo~ MY SI is worse, she bites and hits her Hubby. He used to wake up all bruised! She is on some kind of med. now. He says she doesn't hit nearly so bad now lol!! He has a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteLOL Mary! :) Almost made it out, huh?! I love garage sales/yard sales!
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to any this year because I need to get rid of stuff not add anything to my stuff!! :)
Hartldo: I don't think we have met. I am a part time Owl. I work too much and just try to get in here when I can. It is very nice to meet you. :)
ReplyDeleteI am going to run and watch dateline. I love watching that show.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you too Bebbi. I am new here, although I've known some of these Owls for quite some time. Once school starts back, I'll be a part-time Owl myself.
ReplyDeleteYAY! MEK is safely home! Welcome back!!
ReplyDeleteITEACH and LYNN D~
ReplyDeleteGirlfriends, if I were to be pregnant it would have to be by Immaculate Conception, and HUGE injections of Estrogen!!! Thanks for the laugh!
Hi BEBBI~ good to see you posting!
TINKA~ I am glad you had such a nice visit with your Mommy, even though I know it takes so much out of you emotionally. At least she still does remember you while you are there. You are such a sweet, devoted daughter!
TURTLE~ sounds like the T family had a blast with you in Hawaii! You certainly live up to your career, Personal Tour Guide! Any chance you would could send me a photo or two on my email? Hey I think we should all vote for Hawaii as the next Owls Nest BBQ!!! Wouldn't THAT be a Hoot!!
JUST_LIN was so kind to send me a few pictures of all you beautiful Owls taken from her MySpace. I appreciate it so much!
SCIRISH & DONNA JO~ I just may try the bar of soap trick~ But what type do I need to use? I don't think Dove will work, will it?
Maybe I will just do a little internet search and see what I come up with.
Laurie and I are going to watch the original movie Pollyana with Hayley Mills tonight, so I will check in later before bed.
Here's hoping EVERYONE gets a good night's rest, with no annoying cramps or spasms!
Hey gang!
ReplyDeleteYes I did make it for my potty break Mary! LOL
Just checking in I have been running around or sitting in a car all day! Why is that so exhausting?
I am reading about all of these sleep disorders and Yikes! I talk in my sleep! Sometimes even yell according to Mr. Lynn D. I have been known to stab him with a toenail that needs cut once in awhile! But thank god neither one of us bites or anything. I just can't imagine that.
Hi bebbi nice to see you drop by!
Mary did you say MEK is home??? Wahoo welcome home! Glad you are safe and hope you had a wonderful trip!
Was Dianne the hostess in Denver good? LOL
Hope everyone has a great evening!
hi Donna Jean! Have fun watching Pollyana, I did that recently. I love that movie!
ReplyDeleteHi LynnD! My son talks in his sleep. he is so funny sometimes!

I was going to send everyone a banana split tonight, but I'm too tired. I'll do dessert this weekend, tho!

ReplyDeleteBebbi - I watched hours of Randy Pausch today. What a wonderful man. He said pancreatic cancer is the only cancer that they have not made progress on in the last 30 years. He says no one has lived long enough to really be a spokesperson for it. I think his speaking to congress and making those T.V. endorsements will go a long way in helping to find a cure. That is what my sister died of and when we did the research on it, we were amazed at how little funding there was, for research for that particular cancer. I think he will keep watch on things from above and maybe keep nudging people. Let's hope so because it is a drastic disease.
Donna Jean and Maureen - Thank you for the kind words about my mom.
Bonnie - My thoughts and prayers are with you tonight.
((((Hugs))))).
Mek and Tina - Welcome home.
Zona-my-baby - Please check in tonight.
I so admire all owls who have taken the time to include every one who posted today. I am just too tired but please know you are all in my thoughts tonight. God bless us all and keep us safe and in good health.
Love, Tinka
hmmmmm...at this rate, i can march to 169 by myself!!!!
ReplyDeletein the immortal words of Eric Carmen...all by myself, don't wanna be all by myself...
never thought i would quote 3 dog night, but...one is the lonliest number...
TINKA...get some well deserved sleep. And have many sweet dreams.
ReplyDelete{{{hugs}}}
Night Tinka. I am headed to bed also. Long busy day tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteJust a note to tell you all how I appreciated the comments today. It is obvious that we all care deeply for each other & this nest.
Carol, Thanks again for this safe haven.
Good night...Mary
Maureen you are making me so hungry!
ReplyDeleteTink: I had no idea your sister died of that. I am so sorry to hear it. I have been watching Randy's website for some time, keeping in touch with the updates on his health. I don't know if anyone had a link to it, but it is interesting to read too.
ReplyDeleteThe server has been busy all day so sometimes it is hard to get to, but
http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/news/index.html
In case you want to see how he kept up his progress reports for all his many many fans, students, friends, etc.
Hey Bebbi- I followed up on that site too. Carnegie Mellon has a tribute up now on their website. I think the other site has been overloaded now.
ReplyDeleteFor those suffering from your hubbys restless leg syndrome- have them ask the dr. about the drug
Requip. I use it and it works.
Just swooped in to say hi! Was at Waunafest, a festival at the only Waunakee in the world. Lots of junk food, beer, music, fireworks, ballgames and carnies. Got to love small town America.
Goodnight all you lovely owls.
Goldie: Going to read the tribute, thanks for letting me know. Also, sounds like the Waunafest was fun..made me wannafest..hehe..get it...okay, laughing at my own joke..sorry. ;)
ReplyDeleteHello Hooters!
ReplyDeleteThat was a lovely blog today Lovey. Thank you so much.
scirish Congrats on #1 today. BTW, I really like your new owl.
It's really heartwarming to read everyone's comments about how much this nest and the other owls mean to each of us. It really is a rare treasure to have a place like this to come to. Thank you again, Carol, for making this a place of comfort and friendship, laughter and smiles.
What is a Waunafest and a Waunakee?
ReplyDeleteGood evening ALL! I just wanted to fly in for a bit to wish everyone a beautiful weekend and make sure you know I'm not intentionally avoiding you.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to come to terms with the imminent death of a dear family member and just didn't want to add any gloom to an already rough week here.
I was determined to start the day in good spirits today, but awoke to the news of Professor Randy's passing. As some of you know I've been following his last months closely after being so touched by reading The Last Lecture and doing the blog on it back on May 6th. What a beautiful soul.
Many thanks to those of you who've come to 'visit' with me on MS, and to all of you....blessings.
just lin, sounds like a lot of fun huh...wannago? hehheehehehe..sorry, I am just full of my wanna'snow..really funny to me :) I wanna go to the waunafest at Waunakee!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby always says I am into every carnival. It is true, I love that stuff.
Hiya Bon'O, hugs about the imminent death in your family. I know what you are going through, my aunt went back into the hospital today and it is her birthday. She has lung cancer and for sure won't make it to her next birthday. It made me sad today too because she doesn't have anyone with her up there. Also, I cried at work about Randy Pausch. I think that man was truly awe inspiring.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just called she made it safely to Chicago. Her first airplane trip completely by herself. She was sooooooo nervous!! 18 years old, and still always mama's lil girl. :)
ReplyDeleteBonO I'm so sorry. I had no idea you are losing someone in your family. My thoughts are with you. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteBebbi I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteThanks j/l. I appreciate that. I am going to put a pic of her up on myspace.
ReplyDeleteActually I have three of her up on myspace already. I thought I did it but couldn't find them..lol. I told her when I was taking them that these were for myspace. She is such a fun aunt. One time we were staying in a hotel in Tennessee and it got really stormy and the lights went out. We all got scared!! She has only one leg and we ran down the stairs and she was yelling, "Whattttt about me"...we laugh so hard when we reminisce about that..it was really funny.
ReplyDeleteBebbi Your story made me laugh. I can just visualize it!
ReplyDeleteJust flying in to say Good Night to all, and wish you all Sweet Dreams!
ReplyDeleteWell, I took my potassium pill, my magnesium pill, chewed three Caramel flavored Calcium chews, ate a banana, drank lots of water, drank no caffeine, found a bar of soap to put into the bed tonight, the only thing I did not do was drink my "cocktail"! PLEASE, Lord, let me sleep with NO cramps/spasms tonight! And to MR HART, hope both he and you DJo sleep well!
MO~ I do believe you are right. A new member of the family will definitely be the right prescription for a speedy recovery for Miss Laurie!
BON'O~ You are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for letting us be here to lend our love and support. (((HUGS)))
BEBBI~ My daughters are 35, 30 (both are married with little ones) and my Laurie is 28. They ALWAYS stay Mom's Little Girls. Just ask TINKA!
(((Hugs))) to you too regarding your aunt. She sounds like a riot!
OK, off to bed now,
Till tomorrow, Peace and Love, DonnaJean
Going to beddy bye now, have to get up at 6:30 a.m. and take people to the airport..night all. hugs and nighters.
ReplyDeleteSweet dreams Bebbi!

Hi, Owls!
ReplyDeleteTink and Jennifer: Thanks for the kind words! That one IS a difficult topic, with lots of nuance and food for thought!
Thanks, Tina!
Lovey: Thanks for feathering the nest today!
Good night DonnaJean and Bear. I hope all the owls have a peaceful and restful sleep. Nite nite.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about Randy Pausch all week but was not plugged in to the TV, radio, or even the internet all day so didn't learn of his passing until hubby told me just a few moments ago. My heart hurts for his wife and children who had to say goodbye to this wonderful man way too soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all won't mind that I copy one of my favorite parts of his last lecture here tonight:
Look for the Best In Everybody
I got this advice from Jon Snoddy, my hero at Disney Imagineering. “If you wait long enough,” he said, “people will surprise and impress you.” When you’re frustrated with people, when you’re angry, it may be because you haven’t given them enough time. Jon warned that this took great patience, even years. “In the end,” he said, “people will show you their good side. Just keep waiting. It will come out.”
Good night, Linda and Caryn!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning HOwls!!!
ReplyDeleteI was going to join you last night but I fell asleep early, woke up about 10:30 long enough to drag my chicken butt to the bedroom.
Lovey, big (((hugs))) to you for a beautiful blog. I love your way with word's. ♥
scirish, Congrat's on First!
Turtle, Glad you and T-Family had a great time!
Mo, glad you could make it to the nest. You've been working soooo much!

iteach, nice to see you here too.
Mary, I can relate to Mr. Mary and his jerking while sleeping. Mr. B does that too. OUCH, his kicking you knee. Good Idea about using the pillow for protection!
I hope those of you suffering with leg cramp's had a cramp free night!
