it is a new day, and i feel the sun will be out today
bright and shiny as ever, as soon as i wake, i look
outside thru the windows and when the sun is shining,
the outside world is calling my name, and into i go
when there is sunshine it just makes everything
in life so much brighter, my neighborhood comes
alive, and my spirit is filled with happiness
i am renewed once again, and the gratitude for
life fills my soul, there are so many great things
in life to be grateful for, and at times i let them
slip by me, it is not only i that does this, as all of
us at one time or another has taken things for granted
today, i am going to choose something that i am
grateful for, i will embrace it, and remember it, so
i don't let it slip by me again, perhaps if i do this
it will comfort me, and allow me to understand
just how very lucky i am
i was scared yesterday, i might have seemed strong,
but my heart and soul were weak with worry, it was
only till last night when i finally saw my dad, that
i was able to be whole again, when my dad's BP went
from 149 to 182 (top number) in minutes when
my mom said something to annoy him, i knew
everything was going to be ok :O)
my grateful choice today is my dad, as i want to
know in my heart, that i will never take him for
granted again~~

ReplyDeleteHmmm, Will have to give some thought as to what I am grateful for...
ReplyDelete2nd! lol
ReplyDeleteGood morning scirish! Congrats on first!
Sadly, I have to give it some thought too:(
Technically, I guess I'm 3rd lol
ReplyDelete5!!! haha
ReplyDeleteCongrats on first scirish! Are you feeling better this morning? Hope so!
ReplyDeleteHi Joey! You didn't think you'd get first 2 days in a row, did you? One can dream. LOL!
From yesterday's blog ....
Nice to meet you too IBB! Thanks for the shout out!
LOL @ Donna Jean and her Dove chocolate tips. Thank you!
Are we just choosing one thing to be grateful for today? If so, I will choose my mother. The kindest, most generous person I know. You all would love her too. She LOVES dogs. LIVES for her Boston Terrier. Takes care of a dog in her neighborhood too, because the owners won't do it. She also spends her good, retirement years taking care of my dad, who is disabled. He'd surely be in a nursing home if she wasn't there for him. She has always given all of herself for everyone else. A great cook, too, I might add! I could go on and on but I won't hog the blog.
Waiting on a guy who is fixing a mistake they made when they installed 3 windows a couple of months ago. Then I'm taking my daughter to play practice at our local museum.
Will definitely be checking in and out all day. HAPPY TUESDAY OWLS!
One more thing......I'm grateful for ALL of you!!!!
Thinking good thoughts for Carol's dad, Bebbi and Donna Jean (and Laurie Elizabeth) today!

Happy Tuesday Owls.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Scirish (congrats on first), Joey, Hartldo, LynnD (have fun with the grandkids today), IBB, Tinka, and everyone else who lands after me.
Great blog today Carol. I am glad that your Dad is doing well. I am grateful for many things, not the least of which are my loving family and wonderful friends, both real life and Owl friends.
I am off to the airport to pick up a friend who is flying home from Seattle. Have a great day.
Good Morning:
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for ALOT in my life, I can't mention just one. But My Boys would be #1 they are truly a gift for my husband and I. I'm thankful for the wonderful man I married 21 1/2 years ago, when my mom needed to sell her house 4 years ago and build the dormer, he asked no questions and just started with the plans. Then I'm thankful for my mother, she was a single mother, she never could be a room mother for my sister and I because she had to work to support us. But she always went on field trips 1 per each of us a year. Then we joined Indian Maidens when I was in 2nd grade a take off from Indian Guides thru the YMCA. We went on campouts 3 a year, meetings twice a month and an outing once a month. We loved that program. My mom has such a good heart always was active in our church. Thats why its so heartbreaking for me to see her slowing down. I agree with Donna, no one can cook like a mother, especially GRAVY, for the life of me I can't make gravy. I end up with a clump of lumps. LOL So hopefully she will still be strong enough to make our gravy for this Thanksgiving.
I am also thankful for this place, I know I don't post here that often as I would like to, but my life has taken a different direction with my mother the past 6 months. I will never forget Joeys blog on Mothers Day regarding his mother, I treasure each and everyday with her. Even if I have to scream for her to hear me. I want her to go for hearing aids, so I have to check to see if her BC will pay for part of them because medicare does not and they are 3,000.00 when I called the Center.
Have a nice day everyone.
Good Morning SacBarb who flew in while I was feeding my babies.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hooters!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 1st scirish
IBB!!!!!!!!!!!! Flapping a wild cowlie owlie wing at you- nice to see you again!
I am most thankful for Mr. Goldie. He loves me unconditionally, flaws and all. He is my best friend, my nurse, my coach, my lover and my rock.
Hope all you Hooters have a great day today!!! don't want to name names and forget someone.
Donna - Your mom and dad are so lucky to still be in their own home. I wish I could keep my mom with me but we tried to keep her in her own home with each of the family members taking turns living with her. Unfortunately she was not safe that way. She would not call us if she needed to get up in the night because she said she didn't want to disturb us. The result was she fell twice in the middle of the night and each time broke a hip. She needed round the clock care and we couldn't provide that. A round the clock nurse is out of our financial means so she had to go to a home. It broke my heart and hers. She missed her cat Misty most of us. I am grateful for the fact that she got used to it and that I still have her.
ReplyDeleteCarol, I'm sorry I forgot to say, I'm glad your Dads better.
ReplyDeleteBebbi: Good Luck on your tests today.
DonnaJean: Thinking good thoughts for your daughter.
Hi Scrish: Sorry your not feeling well, with all of you taking your fur babies to the groomers I must call to make an appointment for my two, I'm feeling guilty.
Donna: I think its great that your mom takes care of your Dad. My mother took my Grandfather home when the hospital was insisting he go to a nursing home. He lost one of his legs and they kept telling her its going to be hard on you. Well he had home health care for 8 weeks after he got out of the hospital, but the last 2 years of his life he was in and out of the hospital so much, she always had home health care until his doctor said to my mom its time to think of hospice. We all sat down and told her it was time. So she put him on hospice and 9 days later he passed. So Kudos to your mom shes really honoring her marriage vows in sickness and health. Good for her.
Good Morning Renee and Goldie. I didn't see you fly in. Were you in disguise?
ReplyDelete23
ReplyDelete25
ReplyDeleteI got #25 and I didn't have to step on anyone.
ReplyDeleteTinka: Don't feel guilty on putting you mother in a home, sometimes its the best for their own safety. They put Johns grandfather in a nursing home, Johns grandmother couldn't care for him she was to weak, it broke the familys heart. But they always brought him to family events and she would take the bus (we have a bus for seniors called the Clinton Connector), almost everyday. It wasn't far from her or all of us. He was in the home for 5 years. They were married 60 years before he passed away. You are right it would of cost a fortune for a private nurse for your mother. Shes in the best place she can be for your piece of mind. You hear on the news a lot that elderly people get out of their house in cold weather with no coats and get lost. Them are such sad stories.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, scirish, joey, pink tink, IBB, SacBarb, Hart, Lynn D, and Eve!
ReplyDeleteWhat to be thankful for today? That Carol is feeling better about her Dad. That modern medicine gives Laurie Elizabeth a fighting chance. That I'm going to Lazy Bear Weekend in two days (Yay!)
But most of all today, I'm thankful for the laugh I got from Tina's post late last night in A51!
I could never figure out how some of the owls manage to be such good cooks, housekeepers, AND HOs.
But thanks to Tina, it's now clear. They've taken a course in:
HO MEK enomics!!
*sniff, sniff* good morning whabby- I'm here too...... LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, Tinka, I know how blessed my parents are to have each other and to still be in their own home. If something were to happen to my mom, I would have to put Dad in a nursing home. I could not care for him, with all that he needs. I help out now but helping is all I can do. I'm free in the summers, which really helps, but full-time care is not possible. I have a job, a very busy daughter, a Girl Scout Troop, a husband w/his own ailing parents, etc.
ReplyDeleteMom was in the hospital a couple of years ago and I thought I'd lose my mind! My cooking wasn't up to Dad's standards. He felt bad about the stuff I had to do for him. (w/o getting into detail, he requires a lot of gross things needing done.) He got angry and took it out on me. He does that with Mom too, but she handles it better than I do. Dad & I have never really had a good relationship, so stress just brings out the worst in both of us.
Anyway, I think my mom is a saint. I can't get over all the things she has dealt with in her life.
Good morning hooters!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, there is so much to be grateful for. I must say that my parents would be top along with MR. EBJ.
Parents have always been there, through good and bad. I don't know what I would have done without them when I was divorced from my first huz.
MR. EBJ came along, I had vowed to never get married, let alone involved, again.
Fast forward and we are happily married. Who would have thought?
Scirish congrats on first today! And sorry you aren't feeling good.
Shirley, I forgot to compliment you on the feast yesterday. I don't eat meat except fish/seafood, so it was delightful.
Carol, glad your dad came through so well!
DJ hoping all goes well today for LE!
Hi to all other owls! Have a nice day today!
LMAO @ HO MEK enomics!! Good one Bear! Have fun at Lazy Bear Weekend! I know you will.
ReplyDeleteTinka, I agree with Renee....You can't feel guilty about putting your mom in a home. Sometimes it is your only choice. And it's the smart choice many times too.
Being Grateful.
ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of my time thanking God for the blessings he has given me. I learned to do that in 1997. At the time I was unable to continue teaching for health reasons. I had a heart condition and a minor stroke. I was very depressed. I loved teaching so much and each day I would follow through the hours knowing what my children in my class were doing at that time. I couldn't drive for a few months and that made me upset that I was in the house so much. My family looked after me but I still felt sorry for myself. Then one day I was visiting my mom in the hospital where she was recuperating from her broken hip. In her room was a lady no older than 35 who had had a stroke and could only move one arm. I looked at her and watched as she struggled to pull the blanket up over her. I suddenly had an epiphany. That could so easily have been me. I suddenly realized that if I were in that condition the one thing I would want most would be to be in my own home with my 'fur babies' and all my treasures that I love so much. That would be heaven to me. From that moment on, I was so thankful that I could be in my own house. It didn't matter that I could no longer travel. I was home with all the comforts that only one's home can bring. That day changed me. I still thank God every day that he has given me back my health. Now I can drive again, visit my mom and go out with my friends. I found out later that the young lady in my mom's room died a few years later. I think it was from a broken heart.
I am so grateful that I have such a large extended family and friends who love me. I adore my two doggies and one little kitty. I am blessed and I know it.
Oh EBJ, same here with the parents being there for me after my divorce! THAT is when I truly understood the love of a parent. I had a 6 mo old baby and didn't know what I was going to do. They helped me raise my son and helped me get through college. I could never even begin to repay them. But the great thing about parents is that they never expect repayment. It's unconditional love. At least, it's supposed to be. I'm blessed to have that with my mom.
ReplyDeleteOoopsies! Hi, Goldie! :)
ReplyDeleteTink, that was a great comment! I'll be "tinking" of you today!
Hart: Thanks! :) BTW, what does Mr Hartldo think of Obama? Has he regained any faith in the future?
Tinka, that was beautiful, I felt sorry for the young girl, that was sad. But I believe (my thoughts only) God puts you where you need to be to realize things. I have had that happen to me too. When John and I were told we wouldn't be able to have children, all of a sudden we met so many people that were also having a hard time, people that adopted. Strange huh??? But the Good Lord did bless me with 3 beautiful LOUD, WILD & CRAZY BOYS, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteRonnie, I made a cheese cake last night!
ReplyDeleteWe are having company today, so wanted to dazzle with some of my cooking talents (RIGHT).
It is actually kind of funny looking. I asked MR. EBJ to stop at the store on his way home from work and get me a graham cracker crust.
He came home with one of those HUGE ones, and I only made enough cream cheese filling for the smaller one.
So, there is a LOT of crust showing and some filling in the middle! hahaha!!
Good Morning Goldie!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you see my Labradoodle LOL
When I was looking at the pictures last night, I couldn't believe how little she was compared to now where she can actually reach the counter top like past the middle of it, shes TALL very TALL.
East Bay: Yuck! That kind of sounded like an untreated yeast infection to me.
ReplyDeleteFrom Area 51...
ReplyDeletethank you for the welcome backs... JODI
JUST LIN
SACBARB
BIRDEE
WHABBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Tuesday!!!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, everyone!!
Scirish, Joey, Hart, Lynn D, IBB, Tinka, SacBarb(enjoy your company), Renee, GOLDIE!!, Whabby (yes, Dianne IS a very special lady!!), and EBJ (I'll take a piece of that cheesecake!!)

Whabby - to bad they don't teach how to make the perfect gravy in the HO MEK enomics class!!! LMAO!!
cpgem - great blog - Thank you!!! Today, I am SO grateful for so many things..
:-)
I need to get some things done today - we close on our refinance tomorrow - thank goodness we locked when we did, since interest rates went UP!!!
I hope everyone has an excellent day!!
:-)
Good morning all!
ReplyDeleteNice tender blog Carol!
I am grateful for my entire life. I grew up with loving parents. My Dad was in the Air Force so we traveled a lot. I have one ssiter who is my complete opposite personality wise but that's OK! I missed my grandma and my cousins when we moved to Ramstein but growing up in another country was rewarding. I am blessed with having a great bunch of friends my entire life also. Of course I feel blessed to have become a part of animal rescue. When I was younger I worked with small children. That was very rewarding. It took a lot of energy but I had it to give.Animal rescue work can mean a lot of sacrifice at times and sometimes stress but to me it is all worth the effort.
I have to leave now and get on with my day. David's Mother has been transfered over to a rehab hospital where she will stay for the next 2 months. It has been an emotional experience but a part of life as our family members grow old. We can't prevent it until Wabbear finds the Fountain Of Youth as he researches the galaxies. When he does find it we might hope that he shares with all of us! :0)
Whab only YOU would compare a cheese cake masterpiece to a yeast infection!
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to tell us that you let your yeast infections go untreated til they get crusty?
Now that is what I'd say YUCK to.
:)
Yeah Scirish was first!
ReplyDeleteDuring the past week, I have looked for yellow around me.
ReplyDeleteI found it in the most amazing places especially during the daytime.
I always find for me that at night sometimes I get way too anxious and I forget about all my blessings.
I found a pencil. I really do think "The Borrowers" take them. Does anyone else remember that book from your childhood?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning to all the owls that flew in while I was eating breakfast and watching Regis:
Whabbear, East Bay J. Dreama and Iteach. I will read your comments as soon as my show is over.
Whabbear - I will be tinking of you too.
Iteach - Whenever anything is bothering me it is always at night that it is the worst. I have always wondered about that too.
ReplyDeleteDreama - You sure did a lot of travelling in your life. You must have a great collection of pictures.
Joey - You have so many friends. You must be very grateful for that my dear.
Good Afternoon Owls!
ReplyDeleteWTG SCirish early bird:o)
** Jumpin up n down*** IBB and MEK, I'm so happy to see u in the nest! I have missed u bunches. VIG it's great to see u back in the nest safe n sound too.
Today's blog is beautiful ~~TY Carol xox
Years ago when Oprah started her grateful journal I began doing mine.
It became difficult to keep up or convey my thoughts when I went to write at night.
So instead of nightly journal writing,I keep a note pad beside me on my desk, and jot down things through out the day.
At night I put them in a box and keep them till the weekend.
I have more time on the weekend to reflect and write my thoughts into my journal.
A constant entry: I am so very grateful for Mr Lovey.
I thank God 100 x's a day for him, and my 2 babies.
They make me a better person, they complete me, they love me.
They are God's gift to me and I am grateful for His gift.
Happy thoughts and prayers for all Owls and their families today.
Ibebold and Mek - It's great to see you both posting today. I missed you two sisters.
ReplyDeleteRenee - You are lucky to have 3 great boys especially when you thought you may not have any.
Your mom deserves a lot of credit too.
50
ReplyDeleteDeeDee Sorry things didn't pan out with that surprise, but it's the thought that counts, and we all had a giggle at the thought of it happening,I'm sure Tina did too :o)
ReplyDeleteRenee I'm so happy to see u in the nest.Do u know when our show starts again? Max is suppose to be back..Woohoo.
Jodi,Zona,Ronnie,Birdee So sorry I missed u yesterday.
Jax Where are u come out come out..hehe.
Shirley Your buffet made me drool. I had to go buy some seafood and have a real "owl out" yesterday. It's going to take me a week to get the smell of seafood out of my house.
Donna - Do you have your dad on a waiting list? That is very important here. There is about a two year waiting list. If you wait until you need a place it is too late. That is very hard for elderly people to do because as long as they are in their own home they think they will always be able to manage. I don't know what it's like where you are but here the family can not put a mother or father's name on the list without their consent. That has ended up with a lot of people in hospitals or inferior care homes waiting for a good care home to have an opening. I know how the elderly people feel however. I sure don't want to go on a list at my young age of 39.
ReplyDeletescirish, congrats on first!!
ReplyDeleteJoey. congrats on second, LOL!!
Carol, I hope your dad is recuperating nicely.
Tina, happy belated anniversary! It is so nice you had a fabulous time in Ha. with kgirl!!!!
DonnaJean, good luck at the dr. today with Laurie.

Grandma Moses - Good Morning to you to - Enjoy your relaxing day. I think I will do the same thing. We are having our first rain in weeks. It's a cuddle up with a good movie kind of day.
ReplyDeleteCarol - I am hoping your dad has a good day.
ReplyDeleteBebbi - I am thinking of you and your tests. They will soon be over.
Donna Jean - Thank you for the e-mail and the explanation concerning Laurie. My thoughts and prayers are with you today.
ReplyDeleteWhabbear - I just looked at your new picture. That one is a real keeper - deserving to be framed and on the wall.
I am off until this afternoon. Have a wonderful, grateful day all owls everywhere.
Good Tuesday Morning to Everyone, and with special thoughts going out to Carol, her dad and mom, DonnaJean & Laurie Elizabeth, Bebbi, and everyone else who's been through "stuff" this week.
ReplyDeleteOn the TOTD: Special thanks to all who shared in my shock at the loss of Dr. Lee yesterday. While I've kept a Gratitude Journal for years, today I'll continue to be grateful that I had him and his Hospice Angels in my life at a time I'm not sure I could have done it alone.
(Reminder: ABC 10pm~~Tribute to Professor Randy Pausch)
I am SO behind on my 'must-do' list, so will wish everyone a REALLY GOOD day and say "Bye for now", and (for Joey) "I love y'all!"
Just checking the blog -
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Bonnie - I am grateful for your friendship.

ReplyDeleteMornin' Owls!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who joined in on the toast to our amazing blog host last night. I loved the diversity of beverages being used for the toasts! Thanks again CPGEM for all that you do...three cheers for you!
Thanks for the welcome backs,LynnD and Lovey. So enjoyed and appreicaited!
Bono...thank you for sharing the story of your father's doctor. How many lives he must have touched..truly an angel who walked the earth! And I didn't know about the show about the Professor tonight so will definitely be watching that! Thanks for the info!
LynnD...I am picking up the Outlaws DVD from Tink today and will be sending it on to Zona. The important message moves on to another!
What a special blog! Gratitude! Counting one's blessings. I had never thought too much about that until I was in Guatemala about twelve years ago volunteering at an orphanage. The children there had so little but where grateful for everything they had. I had so much and took it for granted. Since then I try to remember daily to put out there a thank you for all the blessings in my life that I don't think twice about having, that don't come to others on this planet so easily.I say thank you for clean water, for healthy food, for safe shelter, for living in a environment that is free of conflict and war. I am blessed and I am grateful!
VIG!! GREAT POST!!
ReplyDeleteTy for reminding me.
Anyone in the L.A. area? All ok?
ReplyDeleteHi VIG & LOVEY! Didn't see you there. Good to see 'Cherry Baby' and love the starfish, but VIG, I miss seeing you in your bug, scarf flying in the breeze. Did the rain send you back into the garage?
ReplyDeleteHiya Bon!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for naming my new car.
"Cherry Baby" and I are having a blast hehe.
Time to fly for a bit.
ReplyDeleteHave the best afternoon Owls!! xox
btw, Tink....xoxox, and where's my rain???
ReplyDelete68
ReplyDelete69!!!
ReplyDeleteBono...thanks, I miss my yellow bug too. But I changed my avatar to a starfish because I saw a few on the beach this weekend and remembered how much I love them. Plus I felt it was appropriate right now on the blog because it is symbolic of regeneration and healing! Hence this blog that is picking up and moving on is just like a starfish!
ReplyDeleteWhat's happening in the LA area? I will put on CNN to see.
Lovey...hi! Thanks for your words today. Greatly appreciated! Hope you are well!
Hey Jodi. Missed you there! Awesome 69ing!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks VIG!!! I just got home from taking my daughter to a friends' house.....and snuck in @68!!! I was here at the right time.
ReplyDeleteCAROL - Great blog!! I think we all take many things for granted everyday. I am grateful for my family.....my children make me laugh everyday (even if I don't feel like laughing), and they also remind me everyday about unconditional love. I'm also grateful for my hubby. We met in 1987 and were married in 1989....almost 19 years. We have certainly have had our ups and downs, but took our vows very seriously and have hung in there in good times and in bad!!! He is my rock, my best friend, and yes, my lover!!! I still love him more each and every day....and for this I am truly grateful!!!
LOVEY - Your owl looks like she's having a blast in Cherry Baby!!!
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon ALL!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog Carol! I know it is so much easier for us to dwell on the negative aspects in our lives (I know I am very guilty of that). I guess I really need to shift my thought processes! I know this is something I should do especially when I get depressed.
Tink: I laughed at what you said about "The Borrowers"!!! That was my favorite book as a child (it was the only book that my dad read to me)! It was neat because he would read me a couple chapters each night. Not too long after that, they came out with a movie. Like you, whenever something had gone missing, we'd say "The Borrowers" must have it!
I'm feeling very lazy today (and also have a bit of a headache...I think it is because we are going to have storms). My headaches can also be like a barometer (as when the pressure changes, I can feel it in my head)! I'm just thankful it's not a migraine headache today!

ReplyDelete*strapping on the apron*- LOVEY- I am baking a quadruple batch!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, hope everyone is having a good afternoon. My computer at work is being evil and giving me fits, but time to go home soon ;)
HI JODI- How is grandma feeling?
Love the new "cherry baby" Lovey.
Thinking of Bebbi and DJ today along with Laurie, Carols Dad and Tinks mom. Heck- I will just send out a blanket "good thought" to all the Hooters and their families.
All Southern California Owls please check in. They just showed pictures on our news of the Earthquake!!!!! Dosent look to bad, but it still scary 5.4 is pretty bad they said.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!!!!
I just got an e-mail from Joan E. Their house shook pretty badly. Their youngest son and dog were very scared. I am off to put on CNN to find out more particulars. I will relay any more messages I get from Joan E. I didn't get details from her.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful that the Earthquake wasn't huge. I worry about Los Angeles.

ReplyDeleteHey ITEACH.....how many more days til school starts?
ReplyDeleteGOLDIE - Grandma enjoyed my visit last Friday, almost as much as she enjoyed the potato salad I brought! :p Thanks again for understanding. Luv U!!
Hoping that all our friends in LA are safe.

Thanks for the good thoughts: Hart, LynnD, Renee, Tink, Bono, and Goldie.
If I missed anybody Hello and thanks! I made it through the tests. That MRI machine is noisy!
I will find out in a few days how things went. Have to run right now but will bbl.
Bebbi
Hey owls! I've been busy trying to get things done (very hard when you just plain don't feel like it!) but thought I'd stop in to say hi!
ReplyDeleteIBB, so glad to see you back! We've been wondering where the "hoot" you've been! And, Mek back, too! Hi!
Hey Lovey! How's your "Cherry Baby?" Ooooh, that didn't sound quite right. LOL
Renee! I always enjoy hearing about your boys and your busy life!
Dreama, so sad for David's mom--I hope she's on the mend really soon.
Scirish, congrats on first and I hope you feel better soon.
iteach, yellow is so hard for me to see at night, too. If something is bothering me I try so hard to wait until the morning to think about it!! It's hard, though.
I hope our CA owls are all okay!
Hi Joey, Tinka, Donna, Lynn, sacbarb, Goldie, Whabbear, EBJ, Grandma Moses, Jodi, Bon'O, VIG, Jennifer!
My mom is making her fabulous potato salad and bringing some over! I know it's good but I wonder if it's as good as Jodi's????
Bebbi, thanks for checking in, we were worried about you.
ReplyDeleteHi Bebbi!! Let us know~
ReplyDeleteHi VIG - I like your new avatar. I will see you in a couple of hours. I will have Drew Emery's DVD ready for you. How do you like the rain?
ReplyDeleteBonO - I enjoyed the rain for one day. Now I want the sun back so I will send it to you tonight. Let me know if you get it.
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - Glad the tests went well....you'll have to keep us updated.
ReplyDeleteGoldie - Thanks for thinking of my mom. She can use all the positive energy sent her way. She keeps herself charged with it. I really do think she is the Energizer Bunny. She keeps going and going and going.
ReplyDeleteForever I hope.
90
ReplyDeleteSANDIE - Now that is the million dollar question!!! I'm sure hers is just yummy!! Everything is always better when someone else makes it.....JMHO!!!
ReplyDeleteGood evening Owls. Just got home from my daughter's 4 hr play practice. Then we went to get ice cream instead of dinner. :) Trying to catch up on comments.
ReplyDeleteWhabbear: My hubby is still Mr. Doom & Gloom when it comes to the future, politics, the economy, etc. His candidate, who doesn't stand a snowball's chance in h*ll, is Brian Moore. WTF?!!
Jennifer - I so related to your post about "The Borrowers". We always thought the same thing. I think my kids really believed in them because it was always so strange how the little things completely disappeared. As a matter of fact a part of me believes in them still.
ReplyDeleteSandie - I think both you and Jodi should drop by with your potato salad and let me be the judge. I would like some of that right now. How long will it take for you two to get here? I will wait.
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteI love your owl its made out of a Watermelon. I just noticed it. Did you make it???? I have to go water my flowers, but its so HOT and HUMID, YUK!!!!!!
Hi Sandie
I love anykind of potatoe Salad. But yes I agree with Jodi, everything is better when someone else makes it, especially a tossed salad ever notice that???
Bebbi - I was thinking of you this morning. Glad things went well. It doesn't hurt too much does it? If you didn't have to do the 'squishing' twice I am sure everything is fine. I am always nervous when I am called back in to do it again, even though it is usually just fine the second time. Let us know how it turned out anyway.
ReplyDeleteTINK - How long does your private jet take to get to Wisconsin, Georgia and back?!!? :P
ReplyDelete98
ReplyDelete99
ReplyDelete100!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, Tinka, I DON'T have my dad on a list for a home. I have never even thought about it. I guess I need to discuss this with my mom and sister and make some plans. Being in denial is easier now though, ya know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteScirish - I hope you are feeling better. Did Zack get his grooming?
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean - Check in with any news of Laurie's tests.
I have been watching CNN but it doesn't look like there is major damage in California. There were a lot of scared people however. It's not fun living on a fault line. They are always telling us we are due for the BIG ONE. Could be tomorrow or 100 years from now. Very comforting!!!!
Egads! I had to do it 4 times!
ReplyDeleteBut I have Monster boobs too.
ReplyDeleteJodi - I was going to swoop in and take 100 and you had already been there and gone.
ReplyDeleteI figure a couple of hours should be ample to make the complete sweep with my jet. It is a very fast plane, one of the newest ever made. See you soon.
Bebbi - I don't believe you. Let's see a picture of these 'monsters' on myspace.
ReplyDeleteBon'O: Thanks for the head's up on the Tribute to Professor Randy Pausch. I had no idea it was even going to be on.
ReplyDeleteI am procrastinating. My dryer quit a half hour ago so I must fold some clothes. I am like the lizards. When the weather cools, I partially hibernate. I hope my skin is a little better however.
ReplyDeleteSee you all after dinner.
I am not kidding..you know how they have Monster Trucks? Well, I have Monster boobs!!
ReplyDelete109
ReplyDeleteOkay Bebbi, let's see. I will decide.
ReplyDeleteMy 109 should say 110. There was an error in posting, the sign said.
Bebbi Happy to read all went well today.
ReplyDeleteMRI's and I don't get along too well.
I have to be knocked out for them.
Squishing doesn't bother me too much but it's kinda a painful necessity.
Please keep us posted:o)
Sandie LOL I broke my Cherry baby in....hehe.
I will find a good pic of them and put it on myspace. I generally downplay them as it is really embarrassing to me. Although, my hubby likes them.
ReplyDeleteOkay, put the pics under "Destin"
LMAO Bebbi @ monster boobs-monster trucks
ReplyDeleteOh my bags are packed
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to go,
I'm standing here outside my door...
oops, the potato salad isn't here yet!
Tinka, hold the plane!
DonnaHart mmmm ice cream instead of dinner, sounds like a great idea to me :o)
ReplyDeleteWait, Bebbi, you're putting a picture of your boobs on your myspace?? And, Tinka is the one asking to see them??
ReplyDeleteGood golly, what has this place come to??
Woohoo Goldie doing my happy dance, a quad batch....hehehe
ReplyDeleteLOL Sandie!! OMG,,that does sound funny..huh.
ReplyDeleteLovey, LOL at your Cherry Baby. I'll just bet you turn some heads in that car!
ReplyDeleteBebbi: Glad your tests are all over and you did okay!
ReplyDeleteSandie - My motivation is honourable. I am looking at this from a scientific point of view not a statement of fashion. There is a difference don't you think? LOL
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday Afternoon/Evening Everyone!
ReplyDeleteCarol, what an apropos blog for today!
I am so grateful that Miss Laurie's appt at the Cardiologist went very well, all things considered.
She will be having her Pacemaker inserted in about 10 days to two weeks. Her Cardiologist had thought the procedure was completed by the Dr's in Santa Rosa, and was very irritated that it wasn't, as they cannot proceed with any further surgery until that happens! Another SNAFU in communication between different Dr's, hospitals, etc! That part I wasn't too happy about, though.
After she has the pacemaker, on September the 18th she will be going to UCSF for a Catherization and having a stent inserted to open up the blockage (similar to your Dad, Carol, I think).
Her left lung is receiving about
70 percent non oxygenated blood, and her right lung is receiving about 30 percent good blood. (no wonder my Laurie is so tired all the time, and sleeps hunched over)!
I think this is how he explained it. He is sending me his dictated notes, so I will have it all in good old black and white in about a week, and not have to rely on memory or scribbled notes!
After she has the stent, and the pacemaker, they are going to monitor her for awhile and then see how the pulmonary artery leakage is doing. If the stent doesn't slow down the leaking pulmonary valve, then we will have to proceed sooner with the surgery to replace her whole pulmonary artery valve. This most likely will need to be done, but not right away. The Dr wants to wait and be cautious, not being too invasive right now. I am all for that!
I am so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open! We had to be in San Francisco very early, so, I am going to go take a nap, and be back later.
Then my sharp #2 will be willing and ready to thank each of you for all your kind thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement for Laurie and myself!
TTFN,
Peace and Love, Donna Jean and Laurie Elizabeth
I am off to pick up a pancel from the post office. If my guess is right it's something from Zona. I am so excited. See you later.
ReplyDelete125
ReplyDeleteTinka, LOL!!
ReplyDeleteDonnaJean have a peaceful nap!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment about the watermelon owl, Renee. I could NEVER do anything that creative! I got the picture from Photobucket. Thought it was very cool. When I added it, I hoped no one else had used it before, and I wondered if I was making myself an honorary owl much too soon.
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean, I pray that Laurie's surgery will be an easy one for her and she'll feel so much better. It sounds like she's quite a trooper! And, has the best Mom ever!!
ReplyDeleteNot to soon, just right. :)
ReplyDeleteDonna Jean, It sounds like you had a really long day. I am glad that it went well and I hope you and Laurie Elizabeth get some rest.
ReplyDeleteTINKA - lol @ for scientific reasons!!!
ReplyDeleteDONNA JEAN - So glad that things are moving along for Miss Laurie. I will continue to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. :D
((( DJ n Laurie)))) sending big hugs n love.
ReplyDeleteYou're in my thoughts and prayers.
lovey, Why do you have to be knocked out for them?
ReplyDeleteIteach Peek a boo I see u hehe. Did u have fun today decorating?
ReplyDeleteSee they are so big that tinka is at a loss for words! hehe
ReplyDeleteBebbi I had a horrible anxiety attack inside one.
ReplyDeleteMy BP went thru the roof and I thought I was having a heart attack.
They had to take me out and re-schedule.
No way can I stay in there for the 40 mins that is required.
So now they book ahead, and give me a needle that puts me to sleep.
The last thing I remember is being wheeled into the room on the bed..then waking up in out patient.
I don't mind having MRI's anymore.lol
Lovey, I just read your comment and my 1 1/2 year old peeked over the computer and said "Boo" real loud.
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh.
Oh, Donna Jean, you've been through so much today. I hope you have a good nap.
ReplyDeleteLOL Iteach, did ya jump?
ReplyDeleteDinner just arrived, BBL Owls xox
Just got home with my parcel and it is from my BFF. I haven't opened yet. It's exciting just waiting to see what's in it.
ReplyDeleteBebbie - Wow, I am speechless, Monsters at their best.
Donna Jean - I hope you are sleeping now. My thoughts have been with you all day. Hug Laurie for me.
I am going to e-mail Joan E and see if there is any more news from her area. There wasn't much on CNN.
Then I am going to open my pancel.
See you all tonight.
Love, Tinka
Hi everyone!
ReplyDeleteHad quite the day and I came to catch up before I have to leave the house again.
Good golly if we have to be verified by our boobs now...well I am speechless!
Took the grandkids to walmart. Oh boy! LOL one of them had a birthday last week but they were out of town so of course we had to get a birthday present. We got a storm trooper helmet and now I want one of my own! Of course I could not let the other one not get something so everyone got new toys and I got a new pair of sandals!
They also had light sabers to go with the helmets so I think I will grab some of those and put them away for xmas, but I might buy one for myself first!
Hope everyone is having a great day!
LOL Sandie & Donna at your comments. I told Mr. Bebbi about it. At first he said, "YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR BOOBS ON THE INTERNET??!!" and then after he saw the pic he said, "Yeah, I been down those slopes!" I am LOL so much right now..!!!
ReplyDeleteJodi- now really, what kinda heartless bitch would I be if I was pissed you had to reschedule??? You will just have to make it up with.. (fill in the blank!) LOL
ReplyDeleteSandie- I think you should send ME the potato salad since I already know what Jodi's tastes like- I would be the perfect judge :)
Bebbi- glad all is done
DJ- glad for Laurie too- sounds like a long road yet, but sending good thoughts.
I can not believe I am saying this- but I just wish Brett Favre would go away. This is all getting too much Jr. High for me.(this could get me run out of cheesehead land)
Ok, off to run errands and pick up a Rocky Roccoco pizza (unbaked) for my DIL (to be). Throwing it in my freezer until they get here this weekend. See, I really will stop at nothing in bribing them to come down here.
lynn, considering some of the marches in here that helmet sounds like a good idea! Watch out for MEK- she will mow you down in no time flat!!

ReplyDeleteGOLDIE - You couldn't be talking about the afforementioned POTATO SALAD?!!? lol!! And I quite agree with you....Brett would've been better off just walking away with his dignity.....JMHO!
ReplyDeleteBEBBI - Just checked out your monsters.....you put my "girls" to shame. :P
ReplyDeletehehehe come to the dark side... make sure your saber has a fully loaded battery
ReplyDeleteomg I'm so stuffed!
ReplyDeleteWe had swiss chalet chicken and PEECAN pie... too stuffed to eat my pie..... guess I'll save it for a midnight snack
Jodi: Thanks! lol.
ReplyDeleteBack from a quick bike ride. whew. Nice night for one.
A friend just sent this to me. At the end it said, "Judge Not." It made me chuckle--and so true!
ReplyDeleteI was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.
There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.
Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.
'And why is everyone so quiet,
So somber - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.'
LMAOOOOOO SANDIE!!!Thanks for sharing that giggle.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one Sandie!!!
ReplyDeleteSANDIE - Luv'd your little story...made me smile!!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say good night....gonna shake my booty right to bed. :D

ReplyDeleteThat was for my husband. He always feels left out when Aunt Flo comes to visit.
ReplyDeleteBack again, anyone around?
ReplyDeleteWent to help my sister look for her cat that ran off one day before she moved. She is at her new place two weeks and her old neighbor called. She thought she saw her cat. We went there tonight and there is a litter of kittens (one looks just the spitting image of hers) running around the side of the condos. We solved the mystery but we didn't find her cat. Cute kittens though, but they are pretty wild.
I am around Bebbi but not for long. I am going to bed soon. Do you think those kittens belong to your sister's cat? I hope you find her cat.
ReplyDeleteIteach - After all the work you did today decorating your classroom, you were still able to march. Must be nice to be young.
ReplyDelete175
ReplyDeleteThe kittens might be offspring from her male cat. The mama cat was there with them. I think they are wild cats. We have those around here. People abandon them and then others set food out and they hang around.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately my sister's cat wasn't fixed (I know, I told her many times). So it was probably the father of the kittens.
I'm sort of here. I'm watching that show about Randy Pausch, and trying not to cry too much.
ReplyDeleteLovey: I meant to comment on your reason for not being awake during MRIs. I can understand that totally. I had to hold my knee still and let me tell you. It got kind of hard to do..!! I was beginning to think I might have restless leg syndrome or soemthing. I did it though, but I was really glad to get out of there!
ReplyDeleteBebbi- Your description of those kittens sounds like my children. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat I am grateful for:
ReplyDelete1. That I am alive
2. That I have all my teeth.
3. That I can get up every morning and walk to the bathroom without assistance.
4. That I have a wonderful family and my parents are both still living.
5. That I have a good job and a nice house and food to eat.
6. A whole lot more!
iteach...lol! Are you children a little wild?
ReplyDeleteDo other people feed them and they hang around? hehe
ReplyDeleteBebbi, LOL @ do other people feed them and they hang around--that would be my children.
ReplyDeleteNo Bebbi, they usually just take one big step backwards and they slowly ease their way to the nearest exit. :)
ReplyDeleteBebbi, LOL @ your number 2 grateful list (have all your teeth)--not that it's funny but here in GA our Walmart has a dentist--a regular one and an express one for people with 15 teeth or less.
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a joke I heard from Larry the Cable Guy. LOL
Sandie: That is hilarious about the express dentist at Walmart!
ReplyDeleteSandie: I know it is an odd thing to be grateful for but I have a specific reason. Do you remember when Princess Diana married Prince Charles? Well, when her dreams were coming true, the nurses in intensive care turned on the television so I could see it. I couldn't talk because of the tubes in my mouth. I just wanted to know if I still had all my teeth. You see, I was in a very bad car accident when I was 18 years old. I promised God that if I had all my teeth I would take care of them to the best of my ability for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeleteBut especially from living in Kentucky, it is funny that I am grateful I still have all of them! LOL!! :)
ReplyDeletelol sandie..my children are just the opposite, I try not to feed them and they still hang around!! (They are 18, 20 & 23!!)
ReplyDeleteScirish:
ReplyDeleteCongrats on First!!!
Joey:
Sorry you did not make first today, however 2nd is not bad :O)
Hi Everyone, I hope all had a good day...
ReplyDeleteMy dad is home, picked him on this morning, and he is feeling well...
I was so backed up at work, that I stayed late tonite and just now settled down...
Thanks again to all for the good wishes....
bebbi:
ReplyDeleteGlad your tests went well, fingers and toes crossed that the tests results will be good ones...keep us posted....
Yay for your dad being home!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Wow Carol! Your dad is home? That's great news!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could make it longer on here but I'm falling asleep at the computer.
Good Night Friends.
Bebbi, Wow, glad you made it through that! I'm sure you are grateful.
ReplyDeleteCarol, so good to see you and so glad Dad is okay.
Donna Jean:
ReplyDeleteWell it seems you had a long, draining day, however is does look like, finally Miss Laurie can be tended to. My business partner has a pacemaker and it is doing very well, the procedure is not that evasive. And you are correct, the stent they will be using for Laurie, seems to be the same that was used for my Dad..
He has three stents now, and has lived a very long live, those stents are miracle workers...
And yes, one of his symptoms was always being tired...
Many positive thoughts coming your way..as positive is the way to think when a family member is not well...
Always keep us posted
